Host of Young, Scrappy, & Hungry
Emily Ballou (she/her/hers) is a multi-hyphenate; she’s an actor, singer, dancer, comedian, and writer. Raised in Vermont in the small town of South Royalton, Emily was enrolled in her first dance class at the age of four, quickly discovering her love for dancing in tutus and Broadway showtunes. Emily is currently a senior at Middlebury College, pursuing a Bachelor of Arts in Theatre and American Studies with concentrations in Acting and Journalism and a focus in Asian American Studies as a BOLD Scholar in the BOLD Women’s Leadership Network.
Emily made her New York debut in the summer of 2018 as a company member of the Potomac Theatre Project at the Atlantic Stage 2. She teaches youth theatre and dance classes at Chandler Center for the Arts in Randolph, VT, often choreographing their annual summer musicals. Interests outside of theatre include baseball, choreographing, comedy, tap dancing, longform journalism, baking, playing with her rescue dog London, color coded planners, and curating charcuterie boards.
Emily believes representation matters, underrepresented voices of color should be heard, and diverse stories should be told. She strives to leave every room brighter than I found it and looks forward to a world of theatre where there is more color on the Great White Way.
