[4:54] Jeremy Jordan: I wasn't in the pudding. The pudding would have been the day of the show. But yes, Sexy Seymour, for sure. My sexy glasses and my sexy hair and my sexy outfit.

[5:00] Ashley Spencer: And they actually announced it while he was like in rehearsal. And I remember texting him fiercely and calling him being like, are you done? Are you done? Did they really see what's happening?

[5:12] Jeremy Jordan: Yeah, we were doing a run through of act one and then we didn't do act two.

[5:18] Ashley Spencer: Yeah. And I checked my phone and there were a million texts and calls.

[5:23] Jeremy Jordan: Have you. But I was going to start like a few days later. Right.

[5:27] Ashley Spencer: Have you seen the Little Shop meme that's going around right now? We're now where it's like somebody saying, like, April showers bring May flowers. And it says May 2020. And it's a picture from the movie of Little Shop where it's like Audrey, too. It's like the biggest version of Audrey, too.

[5:44] Jeremy Jordan: Have you seen that? Have you? Did you? Because, you know, the movie, they they like end it like it's like a happy ending.

[5:50] Ashley Spencer: Like, yeah. Yeah. They have an alternate ending where like literally it's the most 80s thing you've ever seen. And there's like they're like at the discotheque and the like plants burst through the walls and start like eating people. It's like 15 minutes long, too. Incredible.

[6:09] Jeremy Jordan: And it's like some weird random song that I've never even heard of.

[6:13] Ashley Spencer: I don't know that I've ever seen the movie.

[6:18] Jeremy Jordan: I haven't. It's fantastic.

[6:24] Ashley Spencer: It's the only version I have to admit, the only person that I've seen of Little Shop like as a musical.

[6:28] Jeremy Jordan: Yeah. Sister did it at a community theater in Texas.

[6:32] Ashley Spencer: Yeah. She played Mrs. This is Loose, which is which is one of the characters that the guy playing the dentist is supposed to play.

[6:37] Jeremy Jordan: But, you know, they didn't do the double, the multiple.

[6:41] Ashley Spencer: Sure. Double cast. The one that offers to make a contract or whatever.

[6:44] Jeremy Jordan: Yeah. Well, there's three of them and it's supposed to be played by the same character. But, you know, community theater.

[6:47] Ashley Spencer: Well, actually, you'll eventually get to see Chris Evans as the dentist. So, you know, yeah, Chris Evans, Scarlett Johansson.

[6:58] Jeremy Jordan: And I thought those were all rumors.

[7:29] Ashley Spencer: We're mostly raising a child.

[7:33] Jeremy Jordan: I mean, she's great, but she she doesn't stop. And if you don't pay attention to her, she she's gotten to the stage where she just yells at you.

[7:41] Ashley Spencer: Kevin does. She doesn't really cry.

[7:46] Jeremy Jordan: She just yells. Sure. And it. Yeah. And then she just decides to find the tiniest little places that you would never thought that to, like, cover up to get herself stuck in and.

[8:00] Ashley Spencer: And finds all the little cords that you thought that maybe you had hidden away and.

[8:06] Jeremy Jordan: But no, we're we're we're just hanging out. We're trying to stay healthy, trying to, you know, we're cooking a lot, which is cooking way more than we ever did.

[8:15] Ashley Spencer: That's cool. Are you experimenting with new stuff or is it?

[8:20] Jeremy Jordan: Yeah, we're doing like we're doing some of like the delivery programs, like some of like Hello Fresh and Home Chef and stuff like that.

[8:31] Jeremy Jordan: Yeah, totally. Totally. Exactly. And then, you know, we're trying to trying to stay safe yet and stay sane and binging a lot of television shows.

[8:43] Jeremy Jordan: Good. Oh, cool. Are you watching Tiger King?

[8:47] Ashley Spencer: I am.

[8:50] Jeremy Jordan: Ashley couldn't watch. She was very upset. She gets very upset.

[8:55] Ashley Spencer: It's very upsetting.

[8:57] Jeremy Jordan: You're absolutely right. It's incredibly upsetting, but it's fantastic.

[9:00] Ashley Spencer: He keeps getting upset, though, because I'll be in the same room, but I'll be washing dishes or something while he's watching it. And he's like, come on, come in and watch. And I'm like, no, I can't watch this madness. Like it actually.

[9:03] Jeremy Jordan: I know people are drawn to it because it's a mess and it's sure.

[9:08] Ashley Spencer: Yeah, I just can't. I can't co-sign the animal cruelty and all that.

[9:14] Bryan Plofsky: What would be your actually what would be your thing that like you're binging right now that you're really into?

[9:20] Ashley Spencer: Nothing. It's been hard because like all of my shows have been done and gone away that I used to watch.

[9:28] Jeremy Jordan: And so I'm struggling finding something new that I really love because he also gets mad at me.

[9:34] Ashley Spencer: If I start watching something, then he'll be like, well, I wanted to watch that, too.

[9:39] Bryan Plofsky: Did you two watch Cheer?

[9:43] Ashley Spencer: No, we haven't watched Cheer.

[9:46] Jeremy Jordan: Oh, that's got to be your next cheerleader, though. I love it.

[9:49] Ashley Spencer: I watched the preview. It's on it's on my list.

[9:51] Bryan Plofsky: I think that's a great one for the two of you.

[10:24] Ashley Spencer: Like I started Gilmore Girls and I'm like, I hate you.

[10:28] Jeremy Jordan: Like, what episode are you on?

[10:30] Ashley Spencer: She's like Dean just showed up. I'm like, well, the pilot.

[10:35] Jeremy Jordan: We finally started Ozark last night.

[10:38] Ashley Spencer: Yes. What is Ozark?

[10:41] Jeremy Jordan: It's more of any drugs in the Ozarks.

[10:46] Ashley Spencer: I think that she thought I think she thought that she had watched the first episode, but she was mistaken.

[10:52] Jeremy Jordan: And she was like, it's really low.

[10:54] Ashley Spencer: And I was like, this first episode is crazy.

[10:58] Bryan Plofsky: Well, I have another suggestion. Jamie and I are currently on season 22 of The Amazing Race.

[11:05] Jeremy Jordan: And it is a incredible watch for in general, but for couples as well.

[11:11] Ashley Spencer: The Amazing Race season 22. It's wonderful.

[11:14] Jeremy Jordan: I'll start there. We'll start there.

[11:18] Ashley Spencer: Season 22.

[11:20] Jeremy Jordan: We did actually start watching The Bachelor for the first time this year.

[11:24] Ashley Spencer: Ever?

[11:25] Jeremy Jordan: Ever. And we went in deep.

[11:27] Ashley Spencer: We went in really deep.

[11:30] Jeremy Jordan: He is boring and dumb.

[11:33] Ashley Spencer: Yeah, but like the ending was so sad.

[11:36] Jeremy Jordan: It was like Jerry Springer.

[11:37] Ashley Spencer: It was like watching a family fall apart in front of your very eyes.

[11:41] Jeremy Jordan: Yeah, the last few seasons have been kind of like that where there is all of a sudden, like the cameras show up to their like happy meeting.

[11:49] Ashley Spencer: And you're just like, oh, no, that ring's coming off and they're about to break up.

[11:53] Jeremy Jordan: Usually they just like end and they're happy or the no one gets picked.

[11:57] Ashley Spencer: We were so mad that there was no resolution.

[11:59] Jeremy Jordan: Like he didn't make a choice.

[12:00] Ashley Spencer: There was no like.

[12:02] Jeremy Jordan: He was like, oh, maybe we'll date.

[12:03] Ashley Spencer: And then two days later on Instagram, they're like, we decided against it.

[12:06] Jeremy Jordan: Yeah, because no, because Barb got to him.

[12:08] Ashley Spencer: Yeah.

[12:09] Jeremy Jordan: We also watched Love is Blind, which was brilliant.

[12:12] Ashley Spencer: Oh, God.

[12:14] Jeremy Jordan: We watched The Circle.

[12:15] Ashley Spencer: There's a Circle Brazil on Netflix now.

[12:18] Jeremy Jordan: I should stop.

[12:19] Ashley Spencer: I haven't finished The Circle yet.

[12:21] Jeremy Jordan: I'm like I'm like four in.

[12:23] Ashley Spencer: OK, yeah, because I'm kind of like antisocial.

[12:25] Jeremy Jordan: I started I started watching it when she like she was falling asleep and I stayed up till three in the morning watching like five episodes.

[12:32] Ashley Spencer: Like I have to go to bed.

[12:36] Jeremy Jordan: I television.

[12:38] Kevin Jaeger: Wait, Kevin, did you say something before?

[12:40] Jeremy Jordan: Well, I would say that Jeremy was on Haley's show about The Bachelor.

[12:43] Ashley Spencer: Yeah, I was.

[12:44] Jeremy Jordan: She found out she found out that I watched it and she snatched me up.

[12:51] Bryan Plofsky: So let's talk a little bit. We've never actually talked about Priscilla Queen of the Desert on the podcast. So I would love to hear a little bit about your experience in that show and kind of like I guess I guess I feel like now is a good time where we're like especially actors and people in the theater. Now that it's kind of at a halt for for lack of a better term, thinking back on their careers and what they've done and what they want their next steps to be.

[13:19] Ashley Spencer: I guess. Have you done any thought about like Priscilla and what it meant to you and kind of what what it brought to audiences and things of that nature?

[13:27] Jeremy Jordan: Well, I mean, I auditioned for it. I did not I did not book it.

[13:33] Ashley Spencer: But guess who did?

[13:34] Jeremy Jordan: Yeah, I've been waiting.

[13:36] Ashley Spencer: I did. And I was the I was the like third or fourth choice, I think.

[13:43] Jeremy Jordan: No, I'm serious.

[13:45] Ashley Spencer: Or when I booked it because people had booked it and things fell through for them.

[13:49] Jeremy Jordan: If I'm recalling this correctly.

[13:51] Ashley Spencer: Sure, sure.

[13:53] Jeremy Jordan: And it was very specific in booking the show in my part because it was about three women who really had to harmonize well together and and meld, you know, mesh well together.

[14:06] Ashley Spencer: I think it was a great show to have around on Broadway. It was such a good, important show to like the LGBTQ community.

[14:13] Jeremy Jordan: Yes.

[14:14] Ashley Spencer: That kind of character, like highlighted and not in a way that was like flashy and ridiculous, but like in a way that was like honest and real in who these people were.

[14:25] Jeremy Jordan: Yes, absolutely.

[14:27] Ashley Spencer: I got to fly. And I'll never forget that first day that we all flew.

[14:35] Jeremy Jordan: On a show before, and they started taking us up, and you could hear a pin drop because we were all so terrified. We all just said, and just like they just took us up. It was just very simple, like taking us all up, and we were all like, I'm hanging out in the lights. And none of us were saying anything. We were doing to each other, breathe. Punching our butts so tight. It seemed to work out, and see, it did, it worked out, but it did take a while for us to like get the hang of flying, the hang of it, literally get the hang of it. Hey, there were many times—this is something that you don't know if you've seen the show, but—or maybe you do, maybe you wrote a show where this happened. Our show broke down a lot because the bus would break down sometimes.

We had a lot of automated stuff. We had a track that was almost like a treadmill that was in front of the stage that kind of ran for certain scenes, and we would walk on it in transitions from one scene to another. Things would break down, and we would be preset hanging for the next song to like come down, and we would get stuck there. Yeah, they'd be like, hang out real quick. And they'd be like, ladies and gentlemen, because it's such an automated show, like you can't control it, they would just have to stop the show to fix whatever happened. Oh, because they couldn't move on until the thing was fixed. Like in previews or like in the actual run, during the run of the show, this would happen.

Um, every so often, and so we would just be like hanging out there. And things would start to go numb because you're hanging there. Things hanging out, and we would be like, you know, clenching our butts and doing exercises and talking to each other. We used to pretend sometimes when we were preset before coming down for a number that we were at like a soda fountain. Filling all the beans. We were at a soda fountain, we'd be like making things and like passing them off to each other. We had like a whole thing up there with each other. Like scenes would be going on and songs would be happening. I'd be like, hey, I'm gonna make this thing over here for you. What do you want? You're pretending to be a soda jerk.

[17:03] Ashley Spencer: Yeah, there are so many very strange things that happened backstage on Broadway or like, just off of—just like just out of focus. Yeah, just in the wing or like, oh, God. Oh, I remember. Well, that reminds me when I did Waitress, there was this one entrance that I had, where I had to enter with the card with the little doctor, doctor, doctor bed or whatever. And we would sit off the side, and I would literally—my entire job was to try to make the character playing the chef at the diner was to make him break. And so I would literally sit backstage and just do the most insane things. And I got to the point where I would start bringing props. Like one time, I like went full Harry Potter. I brought my Harry Potter wand from Harry Potter, the Wizarding World of Harry Potter, and like put a cape on and like appeared in the wings and like did a spell on him.

And he just like had to duck down out of the way. You do—I got in trouble, but whatever. But that's the kind of stuff that happens. You just sit there and you do, you know, you, you, you got to entertain yourselves.

[18:25] Jeremy Jordan: And then actually, you also did Hairspray.

[18:28] Ashley Spencer: I did my Broadway debut.

[18:29] Jeremy Jordan: Is your go-to dance wherever you go? Always the pony.

[18:35] Ashley Spencer: And actually, I've been doing at-home workouts. And have you guys heard of Obé Fitness? Yeah. So I have the app, and they do live fitness routines or whatever that are like 30 minutes, and this one guy does a dance hit class, and he does it a lot. And so I'm like, ponying for my life. Like, yeah, nicest kids.

[18:56] Jeremy Jordan: Yes.

[18:58] Ashley Spencer: Cameron, when we had Cameron Adams on the show, that's all she's like, that was her big thing is she was like, pony for your life. Just when in doubt, pony out.

[19:05] Jeremy Jordan: When in doubt, pony out. I love it. And Hairspray was my Broadway debut. And it ruined every experience for me because it was the absolute best. Oh, wow. It was my favorite. It was the first. It was my family's favorite thing there. Everything was always compared to Hairspray. There was like, yeah, we like this. But yeah, Hairspray, not close.

[19:30] Ashley Spencer: Well, there are like, there are like those special shows, you know, and, and, you know, there are not special shows. I mean, there are shows, and you find things that you love about them. You find people that you love, and you take wonderful things. But every once in a while, there are those, those things that just stay with you. And all the pieces click together, and it's just a magical, wonderful thing.

[19:52] Jeremy Jordan: Yeah. And do you have a special show, Jeremy?

[19:56] Jeremy Jordan: You know, I've been fortunate a lot of the stuff that I have done has been that for me. You know, Newsies was that, doing Waitress was that for me. Bonnie and Clyde was that. I mean, I've had a lot of stuff like that.

[20:09] Ashley Spencer: Was Shoshana your Jenna at the time?

[20:13] Jeremy Jordan: Yeah, she was my Jenna. That's the only reason—that's the reason I signed on, honestly, because they had talked to me about doing it before, and I had sort of been reluctant. And then they told me that Shoshana was going to be Jenna, and I said, well, that's a no-brainer.

[20:28] Ashley Spencer: That's awesome. Um, should we play the game?

[20:33] Jeremy Jordan: The game?

[20:35] Ashley Spencer: Well, before we play, I'm gonna bring my ringer in.

So whoever loses the game with the least number of points has to break up immediately. So the way this is going to work is we have three rounds.
