Heathers The Musical Announces Casting Updates

Heathers The Musical has announced casting updates as it extends its run through January 25, 2026, due to high demand. The show is currently playing at New World Stages in New York City.

HEATHERS THE MUSICAL ANNOUNCES CASTING UPDATES

New York, NY – October 22, 2025Heathers The Musical is announcing casting updates for the critically acclaimed production, which was recently extended through January 25, 2026 due to unprecedented demand. Heathers is playing at New World Stages (340 West 50th Street), where it opened to the largest advance in the venue’s 21-year history, and has broken the house record four times.   • McKenzie Kurtz (Heather Chandler) and Olivia Hardy (Heather Duke) are both taking a temporary leave of absence from the production.
  • McKenzie Kurtz will return to Heathers in mid-November.
  • During this time, Heather Chandler will be played by Jodie Steele, who originated the role in the West End production of Heathers. Steele will start with the evening performance on Saturday, October 25.

Olivia Hardy will return in early December. During her absence, Kiara Michelle Lee will play Heather Duke. The Heathers company welcomes Thalia Atallah to the cast in the role of Young Republicanette starting Thursday, November 6.

Jodie Steele’s other theatre credits include Elphaba in Wicked, Katherine Howard in Six, and Blanche Barrow in Bonnie and Clyde. Television credits include roles in “Malory Towers” and “EastEnders”.

Thalia Atallah makes her Off-Broadway debut in Heathers. She is a California native and proud UCLA graduate with a BA in Theatre and has previously toured with Mean Girls.

Lorna Courtney, who stars as Veronica Sawyer, will play her final performance on Monday, December 8, prior to starting rehearsals for The Greatest Showman in the UK. Kuhoo Verma will take over as Veronica Sawyer starting December 11.

The creative team includes Choreographer/UK Associate Director Gary Lloyd, with Additional Choreography by Stephanie Klemons. The production features book, music and lyrics by Kevin Murphy and Laurence O’Keefe, based on the film by Daniel Waters, directed by Andy Fickman.

Heathers features a talented cast including Tony Award nominee Lorna Courtney as Veronica Sawyer, Casey Likes as Jason “J.D.” Dean, and many others.
