Michael Greif, a celebrated American stage director, has garnered acclaim for his innovative and impactful work on both Broadway and Off-Broadway productions. Born in Brooklyn, New York, Greif honed his craft at Northwestern University before graduating from the University of California, San Diego's prestigious directing program.

Greif's artistic vision flourished during his tenure as Artistic Director of the La Jolla Playhouse in California. He also served as an Artistic Associate at the New York Theatre Workshop, where he helmed productions like Bright Lights, Big City. But it was his direction of the groundbreaking musical Rent at the Workshop that truly launched him into the spotlight. Rent's success earned Greif an Obie Award for his exceptional direction. He later brought his vision of Rent to Broadway, solidifying its place as a cultural phenomenon.

Greif's directorial talents have graced numerous productions throughout his career.
