[0:00] Paul Lazarus: Hi, this is Paul Lazarus. In the 1980s, I produced and hosted a radio series called Anything Goes, a celebration of the American musical theater. Now, the Broadway Podcast Network is bringing back these shows. This is the conclusion of a three-part series paying tribute to renowned lyricist Lorenz "Larry" Hart on what would have been Hart's 87th birthday. This phone request program originally aired in 1982 and featured many classic Hart songs from shows like Babes in Arms, Jumbo, and The Boys from Syracuse. Boy, so many requests. I think I'm going to have to close it off at this point just to get in the ones that I've received so far. I thought it'd be interesting to hear Lena Horne from this film, Words of Music, where I went and compared a little bit with her live show, Lady in the Music.

[11:30] Paul Lazarus: Prior to that, you heard two versions of "Where or When," performed by Lena Horne—one from the soundtrack awards music and the other from her show on Broadway, "The Lady and Her Music," followed by "At the Roxy Music Hall," performed by Dorothy Loudon on a Ben Bagley "Rodgers and Hart Revisited" album. And of course, "My Funny Valentine," which many of you requested, performed by Mary Martin. To wrap it up, we have a few minutes left to play you Rodgers and Hart selections today. I can't take any more requests. I've enjoyed talking to all of you as you called to make your favorite Rodgers and Hart selection. We have to do more of these. I'm trying to do this once every so often here on "Anything Goes." It's kind of fun, and I get a chance to talk to you and hear what you like. And today, of course, we're doing this because it's Lorenz Hart's 87th birthday—still very, very much alive.

Special thanks to Steve Cole for providing several of the recordings used on this series. Here's Connie Boswell singing "Blue Moon" by Richard Rodgers and our birthday boy, incomparable lyricist, Lorenz "Larry" Hart.
