We're like, yeah, we brought you warm vodka. But we decided to be fancy. So I actually made it. That's what happens when you come on a second time. On your second time, you get actually what you want. So I made a gallon of Mai Tais. Yeah, like literally a full gallon of Mai Tais. Last time I came, listen, I'm a fancy drinker. And by fancy, I mean anything that would be made in Hawaii. And then it's about my last time I was coming. Last time I came, we had like this gross beer and I didn't get drunk because we and so now I need to actually kind of get a little loose. Let's do it. So Kevin, how did you make this Mai Tai?

[3:11] Kevin Jaeger: So okay, so Michael, cheers to Kevin. So if you want to make a Mai Tai, and you don't have Google for some reason, all you need is these are exact measurements, a crap ton of orange juice, a good amount of pineapple juice, dark rum and light rum. And they say two to one dark to light, but you can do whatever you want. Right. So there's a little bit more dark. There's not actually there's something.

[3:48] Jeremy Jordan: Oh, I did. Yeah, with love. What gives a little red flavor?

[3:53] Kevin Jaeger: Oh, the red is grenadine, but I bought grenadine liqueur. Oh, so I think it's like a little extra punch. This is really good. Good job. Thank you. I was really scared. Honestly, I'm still scared. But I was just really scared because I was just pouring it on this giant jug and then I didn't taste it.

[4:52] Kevin Jaeger: Yeah, but I've never heard of the mixing together thing. It's like an overripe cereal.

[5:06] Kevin Jaeger: I think you meant Chex Mix. That's a weird ass practice. But like, how do you know what cereal you like? You don't.

[5:20] Kevin Jaeger: Yeah, basically. So yeah, that's all about somehow Mai Tais. Great. That's called Kevin's Mai Tai corner. That's what we're drinking, Mai Tais. Great. We're going to keep reusing this jug, I think, to make other things. It's a good summer fun drink. Jeremy, after like a long day of filming, do you have a drink of choice?

[5:30] Jeremy Jordan: After a long day of filming? Um, usually I only I usually have rum at home. So it's usually like a rum sort of Coke situation.

[5:38] Kevin Jaeger: Do you have a preferred brand of rum?

[5:43] Jeremy Jordan: I like a dark spice rum, like a Captain or a Kraken or a Sailor Jerry's.

[5:49] Kevin Jaeger: Oh, fun follow up question. So if you're doing like a musical and doing a show on Broadway, would your drink be different at night?

[5:54] Jeremy Jordan: I wouldn't drink.

[6:01] Jeremy Jordan: No, just take care of the voice. Maybe if it was like the day before a day off. But when you're doing the Broadway, you gotta stay hydrated. For me, like, you'll notice the second I start drinking, I start yelling.

[6:15] Jeremy Jordan: The tiniest. I mean, if my wife can walk in the room and without seeing or knowing anything within five words, know if I've been drinking or not. Because normally I'm just like, "Hey, how are you?" She's like, "I can't. What is that?" She's like, "I can finally hear you because you've been drinking."

[6:26] Bryan Plofsky: So I'd love to do our segment. What have you seen this week? What have you seen? Kevin, have you seen anything?

[6:32] Kevin Jaeger: I recently watched Daddy Long Legs on Broadway HD.

[6:40] Jeremy Jordan: Oh, nice. Do they pay you, Kevin?

[6:45] Kevin Jaeger: I just love Broadway HD. And so I got to, they just released it the day after the Tonys. So I just, yeah, they just put it. Mom, go watch. So it's on Broadway HD. You can totally watch it. And it's really cute because it's not the original cast. Megan McInnes was with it the whole time. But the original guy was the guy from Bright Star, Paul Alexander Nolan. And he left the show to go do, it was based on the movie, like the famous movie that you would like. It was about Russia or something.

[7:14] Kevin Jaeger: Dr. Chicago was an amazing movie. Yes. So he left to do that. So anyways, long story short, Megan McInnes' husband stepped in to play the guy.

[7:29] Kevin Jaeger: It's just actually watching a husband and wife play like they're falling in love on stage. And it was filmed on Broadway HD.

I was like, don't you want to know but long story short his journey he's he's the reason the show works because I'm not a huge Dimension fan in general in terms of like I don't like Matilda but if you his journey from point A to point B is so believable in this they really take their time to like invest in the character and the experience he's going through and it's not just I really I have to be honest I'm so surprised at how much I enjoyed it.

[10:04] Jeremy Jordan: I'm surprised that I liked it too because I thought like two weeks ago couldn't sing a song back to you. No, but within the context of those like two and a half hours every song moved plot and and they felt different from each other like one-to-one absolutely like looking back. I'm just like funny. He was charming.

[10:23] Kevin Jaeger: Yeah. I would I would definitely suggest go sing it. It was really really good.

[10:28] Jeremy Jordan: That's awesome. It's staged really cool. So Tony performance did not do justice and I why did he do the finale? They should have done there's so many turntables on that exactly that like really to stage any of those numbers without them would have been confusing but all I wanted them to do is like the opening number where this it just resets at the end and it's like oh that's the show because that song really reads in the musical.

[10:46] Kevin Jaeger: Oh but out of context I was just like why are they wearing the weird sunshine necklaces?

[10:51] Jeremy Jordan: Like I couldn't remember why they had sunshine necklaces on. I didn't know what was going on but I was like this has got to be the end.

[10:59] Jeremy Jordan: Yeah and then they skipped part and went to actually the end.

[11:03] Kevin Jaeger: Yeah they skipped like in waking up the next day five to ten minutes and they just like go straight to like the look at the sunset.

[11:21] Jeremy Jordan: Well I haven't gotten to see much because I've been out of town a lot. Let's see well I saw I saw Bandstand.

I was in on it really early on in the process so it was cool to see the show finally you know make it to its you know fun it's Broadway ending. But yeah man I you know it was great seeing your friends out there and like what was weird is is when I um when I did I did a couple readings of it early on and there was you know Andy Blakely was always attached but there was never uh it was just a reading or like a mini workshop so there was no dancing and so to go and see the show and it's like a full dance show.

[12:03] Kevin Jaeger: Oh yeah.

[12:05] Jeremy Jordan: This is so like it was like totally winning like yeah it completely changed my sort of idea of what the show was gonna be so it was cool I mean and a lot of my friends are some of those dancers so it's great to see them all featured. And then um and then Laura's fantastic.

[12:09] Kevin Jaeger: Laura.

[12:11] Jeremy Jordan: Laura flawless voice and I never seen Corey do anything. I saw you know what I did see him do Jack Kelly super early on but I was still like you know I just left the show so I was still kind of like weird about it.

[12:20] Kevin Jaeger: Yeah.

[12:22] Jeremy Jordan: But it was really great to see the act of the show.

[12:28] Jeremy Jordan: Okay, boy, okay, his first song was an 11 o'clock number and then he's gotta go up from there he does and it's awesome.

[12:35] Bryan: Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah. Yeah, good stuff. Go see Bandstand, guys. Actually, yeah, the choreography is so good.

[12:41] Jeremy Jordan: Like I was so happy when it won the Tony.

[12:44] Bryan: I don't I honestly think that they probably they and probably Evan Hansen probably were the by far and away the top two.

[13:55] Jeremy Jordan: Anyways, I'm coming out and you know there are some people out there and they you know have little line and this guy looks really nervous and he's he's kind of he's kind of like being awkward and like I can see him like peeking out like at the end of the line. I'm like signing people's autographs. Finally, I get to him. I'm like, oh god, this is gonna be something.

[14:15] Jeremy Jordan: And he comes up to me and he like she's trying to lean over to the barrier. It's like what are you doing, dude? He's like, can you um, can you can you ask can you ask her if if if she want if she wants to marry me?

[14:37] Jeremy Jordan: And I was like, what? And I was at this point. I was like tired. I was like so over it. Yeah, I was like we talked about it's like I was like I want you I want you to ask her for me.

[14:47] Jeremy Jordan: And I was like, this is how much of an asshole I am. My gut reaction would was like to blurt out this dude wants to know if you want to marry him.

[14:59] Jeremy Jordan: And she but honest I guess he did that he picked the right girl because she had a fit and she was just like for this guy that couldn't do it for himself, but I guess that's what she wanted.

Inside the file folder, there are some clues that will bring them back to the cabinet. In the cabinet, there is a bag with a lock. In my lunchbox, which has Wolverine on it. And also the word snicked, which I don't understand. Which is also written on the whiteboard. There is a game, an alphabet dice game, that is also locked. Those are the things you will need to open. You will find out why.

[46:15] Jeremy Jordan: What is it like as, like, a male actor in Hollywood playing a—

[46:23] Bryan: But what is it like to be on a show where you're kind of playing, like, not, like, the damsel in distress, but, like, you kind of play secondary to, like, a strong, powerful female lead?

[46:36] Jeremy Jordan: What has that been like for you?

[46:38] Jeremy Jordan: I've always been overpowered by females.

[46:42] Bryan: I don't know what that means.

[46:44] Jeremy Jordan: No, it's—

[46:45] Bryan: Just watch what happens.

[46:47] Jeremy Jordan: It's fun to, you know, kind of—

[46:49] Jeremy Jordan: I mean, my character started out as, like, with no self-esteem, like, no respect for himself, you know, saddled himself with a job that he was well below his qualifications just because he didn't think anything of himself, and then, you know, meeting and kind of falling in love but then also becoming best friends with this character who plays Supergirl and this person that kind of inspires him has sort of brought out the best of him.

[47:15] So for him, you know, he's nothing but, you know, sort of grateful.

[47:19] Now he gets to work at this, you know, agency where they, you know, deal with alien threats every day, and he gets to finally use his, like, crazy computer-hacking skills to, you know, their full extent.

[47:31] And, you know, spoiler alert, in season two, he gets an alien girlfriend, which is really fun.

[47:37] We kind of explore, like—we kind of do the interracial relationship allegory, but through aliens.

[47:45] And actually, what's really interesting about season two is they really politicize it a lot through the sort of, like—through the visage of this alien contingent, like, actual alien contingent on planet Earth and sort of making an allegory for illegal aliens and illegal immigrants and how people—how different people deal with that differently in the real world.

[48:10] Of course, you know, I mean, the writers are amazing, but, you know, they definitely skew liberal.

[48:17] Bryan: Writers skew liberal?

[48:20] Jeremy Jordan: Writers, yeah.

[48:22] Bryan: I mean, our last two episodes were literally titled Resist, and nevertheless, she persisted.

[48:29] Jeremy Jordan: I mean—

[48:30] Bryan: That's amazing.

[48:32] Jeremy Jordan: They are nailing it on the head.

[48:34] Bryan: I have a very silly question.

[48:35] Jeremy Jordan: So I hear that agenda. I hear that.

[48:38] Bryan: Did Wynne sew her outfit in the pilot?

[48:41] Jeremy Jordan: Did Wynne sew it?

[48:42] Bryan: Yeah.

[48:43] Jeremy Jordan: Yeah, Wynne completely made her outfit.

[48:45] Bryan: So, like, where's the other outfits he needs to make?

[48:48] Jeremy Jordan: What gets dropped, you know, a lot of stuff gets cut.

[48:51] Jeremy Jordan: In the original draft of the pilot, Wynne is kind of a Renaissance man, and he kind of, like, knows how to do all this sort of things.

[48:59] He was—because his dad was a—was, like, kind of an evil villain and went away when he was, you know, 10 or 12.

[49:06] He kind of moved over to his mom's side.

[49:08] Bryan: The way evil villains do.

[49:09] Jeremy Jordan: Well, yeah, and so he not only learned everything from his dad in terms of, like, building and engineering and stuff like that, but then he kind of flocked to his mom, and his mom taught him all, you know, the things that they would teach their girls.

[49:22] Bryan: Fashion design.

[49:23] Jeremy Jordan: Exactly.

[49:24] So, like, he's a jack of all trades.

[49:26] I mean, yes, he's completely designed and built her costume and Guardian's costume, and my theory is that he makes doubles for himself whenever he's at home.

[49:36] I'm like, feeling sad, he puts on the costume.

[49:42] I'm a Supergirl now.

[49:43] So, Jeremy, if you could be any of the superheroes, who would you be?

[49:45] Jeremy Jordan: In any—anything.

[49:48] Bryan: I know what you want to say.

[49:50] Jeremy Jordan: I don't know who I would be.

[49:53] Jeremy Jordan: I mean, you know, I've always been a big Batman fan, just because he's like the normal guy without any real superpowers. Money. But, uh, you know, I kind of like being the person that's not the superhero that like is the sort of voice of all of the nerds in all of us. So for me, for my character on Supergirl, he kind of voices all the super fanboy things that anybody watching the show might sort of feel. So he's kind of our way in as audience surrogate. Yeah. The audience surrogate, which is a kind of a cool part to play. And then when he gets to do something cool and go to outer space or, you know, maybe design this cool weapon or punch an alien, like we've kind of...

[50:46] Bryan: That's not his girlfriend.

[50:47] Jeremy Jordan: Yeah, exactly. Yeah, exactly. We kind of get to like live our lives through that and sort of relate a little bit more to how we would be.

[50:57] Kevin: That's cool. So like in a superhero franchise, you'd want to be like the awesome human sidekick.

[51:03] Jeremy Jordan: Yeah. I mean like almost like the Peter Parker, but you know, but not Spider-Man.

[51:10] Bryan: Yeah. Wait, Jeremy, what superhero did you think I would say on three? One, two, three.

[51:16] Jeremy Jordan: Green Lantern.

[51:17] Bryan: I know. I think Jeremy would be awesome. I don't know. I think it'd be great. Green Lantern.

[51:20] Kevin: Has there been an awesome Green Lantern?

[51:26] Jeremy Jordan: Not yet. Not yet. Sure. Well, yes. In film? No.

[51:26] Kevin: In rollercoaster?

[51:29] Jeremy Jordan: That's why we need Jeremy. It's the Green Lantern.

[51:30] Kevin: I'll take Jeremy.

[51:31] Jeremy Jordan: I'll take it. See, I was going to say Jeremy should play Gambit.

[51:35] Kevin: That sounds good.

[51:36] Jeremy Jordan: Oh yeah. Interesting. That would be an interesting kind of like Gambit. I forgot how long Gambit was. It's like an indie-esque movie. They're like indie, like almost Logan, but like just like the grit of Logan.

[51:42] Kevin: Logan was so good.

[51:43] Jeremy Jordan: I think if I play a superhero, I don't, well, the reason I don't think it would be Batman one is because I'm too short, but two, because I think there has to be a comedic element to it. Green Lantern. For sure. Totally, which is why Green Lantern.

[51:57] Kevin: I never actually answered your question. That's the thing.

[52:04] Jeremy Jordan: True. You chose no superhero. You chose sidekick.

[52:08] Bryan: Because the last time you were on the show, we had so much fun playing games with your fan fiction.

[52:14] Bryan: We are going to play a Broadway-stunned Mad Lib that I wrote that is a joke fantasy fiction.

[52:21] Jeremy Jordan: Oh, do you need my Broadway card?

[52:24] Bryan: Okay, good. So Jeremy just used Lights of Broadway cards. So the way this works is you're just going to read this out loud and whenever it's like a red spot where it says Lights of Broadway card, you pull a card and say whoever it is.

[52:31] Jeremy Jordan: Okay. This is a Jeremy Jordan fan fiction as written by Kevin Jaeger for Mad Libs.

[52:37] Bryan: All right. From the moment I won a backstage pass to the John Cameron Mitchell concert, I had only one focus in life, preparing to meet Jeremy Jordan. I knew he'd be backstage with his normal crew, Beowulf Borat, the cast of Shuffle Along, and Jack O'Brien, the famous director. If only I could get Jeremy alone from him and I knew we'd be better coupled than even Kevin Chamberlain and Jennifer Laura Thompson.

[53:01] Jeremy Jordan: I can see it.

[53:02] Bryan: Backstage during the concert, I was so nervous, but suddenly I felt someone standing very close behind me. It was him, the CW hunk himself, Jeremy Jordan. I could barely breathe. The only other person who has this effect on me is Gwen Verdon.

[53:29] Jeremy Jordan: It is Kevin's fan fiction.

[53:30] Bryan: Those legs.

[53:31] Jeremy Jordan: Don't move, he whispered. Don't even turn around.

[53:35] Bryan: I can't be seen with you, Jeremy whispered. My pubicis is really pushing the rumor I'm seeing Louis J. Stadlin. But I have to see you again tonight.

[53:57] Jeremy Jordan: So here, his fingers were suddenly placing something flat and rectangular in my hand, very discreetly.

[54:01] Bryan: Thank you for saying flat and rectangular.

[54:02] Jeremy Jordan: You're welcome. He whispered, meet me in my hotel room after the show.

[54:07] Bryan: Should I bring anything? I asked so softly I was afraid he couldn't hear me. I had chills and they were multiplying.

[54:18] Jeremy Jordan: I used to think it said multipliance.

[54:19] Bryan: Continuing the story, actually, Jeremy whispered, if you can, can you maybe dress up like Raul Esparza? I'll dress up as Rachel Chavkin. It's always been a fantasy of mine.

[54:37] Jeremy Jordan: I smiled as we whispered back. Well, it looks like both of our fantasies are coming true tonight. Part two coming soon.

[54:55] Bryan: Wow. Honestly, we went deep in those cards. We went deep. We were talking about Rachel Chavkin. We were talking about Kevin Chamberlain and Jack O'Brien. There were some random names pulled out there. Some Louis Stadlin.

[55:06] Jeremy Jordan: Having a virtual concert sounds fantastic.

[55:11] Bryan: I agree. I'm in for that.

[55:12] Jeremy Jordan: Yeah. And I'm in for hanging with the cast of Shuffle Along. I like that.

[55:13] Bryan: Yeah, that crew sounds that bad. They're fun.

[55:18] Jeremy Jordan: You had a good crew.

[55:19] Bryan: I know. You did have a solid crew. The entire cast.

[55:22] Jeremy Jordan: 25 people.

[55:23] Bryan: Give me that carton. This is my fourth class. We're almost done with it.

[55:28] Jeremy Jordan: If you can't, oh no, I'm not going to kill it. I don't make it. I don't kill it. I fear my life.

[55:32] Bryan: That was hilarious. What's your favorite city in this country?

[55:39] Jeremy Jordan: Favorite city? In this country.

[55:40] Bryan: In this country?

[55:41] Jeremy Jordan: Yeah. So not Vancouver. I have been. I've been all over the place. I mean, I mean, listen, well, it can't be New York because New York is my favorite city. Right. Let's see. You know, I really, I really loved Cambridge.

[56:04] Bryan: Massachusetts?

[56:05] Jeremy Jordan: Yeah. Outside of Boston. That was a really great place. Yeah. What I loved about it was, you know, we were on the Harvard campus basically. We're right outside of it. And it's just that energy of like a town that's like full of normal people, but also bustling with like these bright young minds that are so eager to kind of like achieve their future. Like it was just, it just got a great sort of like excited, kind of palpable energy to it.

[56:31] Jeremy Jordan: And that's where Insomnia Cookies started. And they have ice cream cookie sandwiches there. So I mean, you can't compete with that. But yeah, that's the first one that pops to mind. I mean, I spent a lot of time in a lot of cities, but that's the one that I kind of liked the most.

[56:44] Bryan: That's cool. That's a cool answer.

[56:46] Jeremy Jordan: That's a good answer. You know what? It was the one that I gave. Cheers. Cheers for that. To the Green Lanterns answer. My tie. My tie.

[57:01] Jeremy Jordan: I know all the Broadway listeners are anxiously awaiting your return to the Broadway stage.

[57:10] Jeremy Jordan: Well, we did the musical episode, which was very exciting.

[57:14] Bryan: How was that?

[57:15] Jeremy Jordan: It seemed like it was fun. It was a lot of fun. I, you know, I didn't get to do a whole lot on it, but the couple of days that I got to spend on the flash set was really fun and hang out with Carlos, who plays Cisco and Grant plays Barry and John Barrowman, who's just a frigging riot.

[57:33] Bryan: That's amazing.

[57:34] Jeremy Jordan: Yeah. I love John Barrowman. But it was fun. You know, it was kind of cool, you know, seeing all the sort of tweets and all the cool things about, you know, a lot of the people that's watched the show don't know that I have the background in the stage.

[57:41] Bryan: Oh, true. True.

[57:42] Jeremy Jordan: And, uh, and then, you know, they go on YouTube and they do the YouTube binge that we all do.

[57:47] Bryan: Yeah.

[57:48] Jeremy Jordan: What's your most watched video?

[57:49] Bryan: No, my most watched video by far is, is it's all coming back to me now.

[57:53] Jeremy Jordan: Yeah.

[57:54] Bryan: Yeah. It's got like 2 million views, but yeah, that's the most viral, which is so funny to me because I literally like learned it the day before and like had a cheat sheet off to the side and was just acting like an idiot.

[58:05] Jeremy Jordan: But, you know, you never know what it's going to do any concerts coming up.

[58:09] Bryan: No, I don't have anything to plug, you know, Tangled is going to continue in the fall.

[58:14] Jeremy Jordan: That's the TV series. My niece is super excited about it. My character, Varian is a big part of season one. He's only been in one episode so far, but he's a big part, but he's like, he I'm probably like eight or nine episodes and he kind of comes back in a big way. Um, there's, there's some, there's some musical elements, which are really exciting.

[58:44] Jeremy Jordan: And, uh, and I got, and I got my first like Disney figurine.

[58:48] Bryan: Wait, really?

[58:49] Jeremy Jordan: I played Jack Kelly in Broadway and it took me to do it. I was adding a series to get the Disney figurine. That's a bobblehead, but I don't know if that's really me.

[58:53] Bryan: No, it's an amalgamation of boy. It's just a strange, like, yeah, slightly olive skinned boy.

[59:04] Jeremy Jordan: He's very olive. He's very olive skinned. Well, he's been out all day selling papes. But I got to tell you, man, it was the one of the best experiences ever. Like watching some, like, you know, you just reading it from a script and they let me kind of do whatever I wanted with it. So I made him super quirky and super silly.

[59:20] Bryan: You recorded before they animated it.

[59:24] Jeremy Jordan: Yes. Oh, a hundred percent. I saw, I saw all they gave. All they give you is like a little, like a 2D sketch of what your character is going to look like. Granted they don't do the series in 3D, but it's just a sketch and then you just kind of do it. And then they animate around, they videotape you so that they can see your face.

[59:38] Bryan: Disney character.

[59:39] Jeremy Jordan: Yeah, man, it's super fun. So that's, that's coming out in the fall along with Supergirl season three.

[59:44] Bryan: October 9th.

[59:45] Jeremy Jordan: It's going to be, uh, we don't know what happened with Mon-El.

[59:50] Bryan: Is it season four or season three?

[59:56] Jeremy Jordan: Season three.
