[0:01] Kevin Jaeger: Did you bring wine? I got the glasses.

[0:07] Bryan: You guys, I made a quiz. No, I didn't bring anything, but I'm here to have fun.

[0:11] Kimberly: Broadwaysted!

[0:19] Kevin Jaeger: There's no place like home for the holidays, except Broadway.

[0:35] Bryan: So for all your best Broadway tickets, check out goldstar.com.

[0:41] Kimberly: Now back to your regularly scheduled program.

[0:50] Kevin Jaeger: We have a special treat for you!

[0:54] Kimberly: A brand new holiday radio play written, edited, and produced by Broadwaysted's own Kevin Jaeger,

[1:01] Bryan: featuring an all-star cast of Broadwaysted friends of the show.

[1:06] Kevin Jaeger: This time, the brilliant and charming Kevin Jaeger has turned his parodying powers on the classic Jimmy Stewart,

[1:13] Bryan: tale as old as time that examines what happens when you wonder what if.

[1:19] Kevin Jaeger: What if, then, for an extra holiday gift, this radio play isn't just a play,

[1:25] Bryan: it's a musical with original music by Jason Pomerantz and lyrics by Kevin Jaeger.

[1:33] Kevin Jaeger: Based upon Frank Capra's It's a Wonderful Life!

[1:38] Bryan: Exclamation point. Here is It's a Broadwaysted Life!

[1:42] Kimberly: Exclamation point.

[1:56] Jeremy Jordan: God on high, hear my prayer. You have always been there, so help George Failing.

[2:03] James Monroe Iglehart: George is young. He's afraid. Let him rest, heaven blessed.

[2:07] Michael Cerveris: Oh, Lord, he's not the one to blame. Oh, Lord, why must George live in shame?

[2:12] Jeremy Jordan: Each night I light a candle in his name. Please be with me. Please, God, please help George.

[2:18] James Monroe Iglehart: He's a good boy. He's always been a good nephew to me.

[2:21] Michael Cerveris: Sunrise. Sunset.

[2:23] James Monroe Iglehart: Hey, Starkeeper, you hearing this?

[2:25] Michael Cerveris: What is it, Asaka?

[2:27] James Monroe Iglehart: It sounds like almost every person down there in the small town of Bedlam Falls is praying for George Failing tonight.

[2:35] Michael Cerveris: Sounds like we're going to have to intervene.

[2:37] James Monroe Iglehart: I could find a tree all covered in mangoes.

[2:39] Michael Cerveris: I don't think the mango thing is going to work this time.

[2:42] James Monroe Iglehart: You know who we should call?

[2:43] Michael Cerveris: Ghostbusters?

[2:44] James Monroe Iglehart: Jesus Christ.

[2:45] Michael Cerveris: Superstar.

[2:46] James Monroe Iglehart: Yeah, where is he?

[2:47] Michael Cerveris: I thought you'd just call out his name and you'd know wherever he is he'd come running.

[2:51] Jeremy Kushnier: Oh, no, I'm here. I just, it's just that I don't usually enter until people have said my name a bunch more times and asked who I am, what I've sacrificed.

[3:00] James Monroe Iglehart: It's a whole thing.

[3:01] Michael Cerveris: We don't have time.

[3:02] James Monroe Iglehart: We need to help George Failing in Bedlam Falls and Starkeeper already vetoed my mango plan.

[3:08] Michael Cerveris: Always with the mangoes, huh?

[3:10] James Monroe Iglehart: That's what I said.

[3:11] Michael Cerveris: Okay, enough. We have to send down one of our own.

[3:14] James Monroe Iglehart: Who's next on the call sheet?

[3:15] Michael Cerveris: Well, let's see. It says here that it's, oh, Jesus Christ Superstar.

[3:21] Jeremy Kushnier: No way. It's my turn. I already went down there and it was an exhausting two acts.

[3:25] James Monroe Iglehart: Okay. No, it's not you. It's just the next on the list is Clarence N. Flaherty.

[3:31] Michael Cerveris: Clarence N. Flaherty. I don't know if all the things he can think will be enough to come up with a plan for this problem.

[3:36] James Monroe Iglehart: I say we give Clarence N. Flaherty a chance to prove himself.

[3:40] Michael Cerveris: Shall I call for him?

[3:41] James Monroe Iglehart: I suppose. If we're all completely set against the-

[3:44] Michael Cerveris: No mangoes.

[3:45] James Monroe Iglehart: Fine. Clarence, you called?

[3:49] Jeremy Kushnier: Yes.

[3:50] James Monroe Iglehart: You're about to come off the standby list and jump onto an alternate spot on the official list.

[3:55] Jeremy Kushnier: You don't mean-

[3:56] James Monroe Iglehart: We do. Clarence N. Flaherty.

[3:59] Michael Cerveris: We have a job for you down below to help a young George failing.

[4:03] James Monroe Iglehart: If you do your job well, you'll get what you've always wanted.

[4:06] Jeremy Kushnier: Really? My very own wings to fly?

[4:09] James Monroe Iglehart: Yes. Also known as your membership in the AEA, Angels Equity Association.

[4:14] Jeremy Kushnier: Oh, dear. I'll never know what made this so exciting, how all at once my heart has taken flight.

[4:20] James Monroe Iglehart: Now listen, Clarence.

[4:22] Michael Cerveris: We haven't much time. George failing is struggling.

[4:26] James Monroe Iglehart: He feels like nobody is there. He feels forgotten in the middle of nowhere.

[4:30] Michael Cerveris: He feels like he could disappear, like he could fall and no one would hear.

[4:34] Jeremy Kushnier: Oh, no. Oh, dear. I've got to help him. I'll come running. I've got to take him home.

[4:40] James Monroe Iglehart: First, you have to learn about the man to help him.

[4:42] Michael Cerveris: Now, look.

[4:43] James Monroe Iglehart: Look where?

[4:44] Michael Cerveris: Look down.

[4:45] James Monroe Iglehart: Can you see it? Bedlam Falls.

[4:50] Jeremy Kushnier: It's sort of hazy, like it's rising out of the mists after it's been gone a hundred years.

[4:56] James Monroe Iglehart: Little town. It's a quiet village. Every day is the one before.

[5:00] Michael Cerveris: Little town full of little people with big dreams. And one of those people is George failing.

[5:05] James Monroe Iglehart: But I don't see a man. All I see is children playing in the snow.

[5:09] Michael Cerveris: That's because this is a scene from George's childhood.

[5:12] James Monroe Iglehart: George is that rambunctious little boy with the rosy cheeks right there.

[5:16] Jeremy Kushnier: Boy, George with rosy cheeks. How taboo.

[5:19] James Monroe Iglehart: Do you want to build a snowman?

[5:20] Jeremy Kushnier: Come on. Let's go and play.

[5:22] James Monroe Iglehart: I don't want to build a snowman, George. Let's go sledding by the precarious and questionably frozen lake.

[5:27] Jeremy Kushnier: I agree. That sounds like a much more entertaining idea to my childlike brain that doesn't properly process danger.

[5:34] James Monroe Iglehart: Well, I guess we could do that instead. I just have to bring my kid brother Harry Connick failing.

[5:39] Jeremy Kushnier: Come on, Harry. Don't worry, George. I can keep up with you guys.

[5:42] James Monroe Iglehart: And just to prove it, I'm going to sled down the hill first.

[5:45] Jeremy Kushnier: Where's our sled?

[5:46] James Monroe Iglehart: How? We don't have a sled. What a ridiculous idea.

[5:49] Jeremy Kushnier: No, silly. We're going to use these shovels we brought from our parents' garages.

[5:53] James Monroe Iglehart: We'll sit on them like they were magic brooms in Harry Potter and the Cursed Child parts one and two.

[5:58] Jeremy Kushnier: And fly down this hill and glide across the questionably frozen lake.

[6:01] James Monroe Iglehart: Like the ice fairies in the Fantasia movies.

[6:03] Jeremy Kushnier: Is that movie out at this point in the story's timeline? Is anyone concerned about that?

[6:07] James Monroe Iglehart: Okay. Let's do it. I mean, this all checks out as a normal and safe activity to do unsupervised by adults in the snow.

[6:15] Jeremy Kushnier: Okay. Someone hand me a shovel.

[6:17] James Monroe Iglehart: You know what, Harry? Let me go first. Okay?

[6:20] Jeremy Kushnier: Too late, George. Here I go. Merry Christmas, Maggie Thatcher.

[6:26] James Monroe Iglehart: Oh, no. I can't stop. I can't stop.

[6:29] Jeremy Kushnier: George, I'm flying into the center of the lake.

[6:31] James Monroe Iglehart: Harry.

[6:32] Jeremy Kushnier: George, help me.

[6:33] James Monroe Iglehart: Hold on, Harry. I'm coming. I'll save you, little brother.

[6:37] Michael Cerveris: Oh, my goodness. Were the children okay?

[6:39] James Monroe Iglehart: George saved his little brother Harry's life that day, but he caught a bad cold that took his hearing in his left ear.

[6:44] Michael Cerveris: Wow. That is a strangely random piece of information that will probably be strikingly important at some point in this story.

[6:52] James Monroe Iglehart: It was a few weeks' time before George was able to go back to his job of working at Doc's drugstore and soda shop.

[6:58] Michael Cerveris: Because this story takes place when children worked at drugstores.

[7:01] James Monroe Iglehart: And that was okay.

[7:05] Michael Cerveris: Zoot do our bum. Get to work, Georgie.

[7:08] James Monroe Iglehart: You won't be laughing when you have to call me George M.

[7:11] Michael Cerveris: George Moneybags.

[7:13] James Monroe Iglehart: Say what you want, Georgie. Have fun with the customers.

[7:16] Michael Cerveris: I see you've already got a few lined up at the soda bar waiting for you.

[7:19] James Monroe Iglehart: Okay, scram before Doc sees you or he'll start yelling about sharks and jet planes or whatever it is he talks about.

[7:26] Michael Cerveris: Zoot do our bum. I'm here, Doc.

[7:30] Jeremy Kushnier: It's me, George Failing.

[7:32] Michael Cerveris: You're late.

[7:34] Jeremy Kushnier: Yes, sir. Sorry, sir.

[7:36] Michael Cerveris: Hello, George. Hello, Daisy. Hello, Violet.

[7:39] James Monroe Iglehart: We're Siamese twins.

[7:41] Michael Cerveris: I'm to your right as you watch our show.

[7:43] James Monroe Iglehart: She thinks she's always right.

[7:45] Michael Cerveris: Not so. I'm Daisy.

[7:47] James Monroe Iglehart: I'm Violet. What else would you like to know?

[7:50] Michael Cerveris: I'm sure if he wants to hear anymore, he'll be sure to ask.

[7:53] Jeremy Kushnier: Oh, hello, Mary.

[7:56] Michael Cerveris: We didn't even notice you were there.

[7:58] Jeremy Kushnier: I guess we should let her get her order out of the way.

[8:00] Michael Cerveris: I'm still thinking.

[8:01] Jeremy Kushnier: I'm not so quick to make up my mind.

[8:03] Michael Cerveris: Well, then, ladies, looks like you two are first. What'll it be?

[8:07] James Monroe Iglehart: We just need a few things for baking. Sugar, butter, flour.

[8:12] Michael Cerveris: I'll go grab them for you. Be back in a jiffy.

[8:15] James Monroe Iglehart: Daisy, can you hear what I'm thinking?

[8:17] James Monroe Iglehart: Yes, as clearly as though you spoke, I like him, too.

[8:20] Michael Cerveris: You two like every boy.

[8:22] James Monroe Iglehart: We're just two girls who can't say no.

[8:25] Michael Cerveris: Here you are, ladies. That'll be, oh, I don't know, 20 cents and some hay pennies.

[8:31] James Monroe Iglehart: I'm deeply concerned about what timeline we're setting the story.

[8:34] Michael Cerveris: Angel's equity wings?

[8:36] James Monroe Iglehart: Who really cares about a timeline? I mean, once you know where you are, there you are.

[8:40] Michael Cerveris: Here's your change.

[8:42] James Monroe Iglehart: Thanks, Georgie. Have a good day.

[8:45] Michael Cerveris: See ya.

[8:46] James Monroe Iglehart: Goodbye, Mary.

[8:47] Michael Cerveris: Goodbye.

[8:50] Jeremy Kushnier: All right, Mary, you've had time to make up your mind. What will it be?

[8:54] Jeremy Kushnier: I think I'll have ice cream, vanilla ice cream.

[8:58] Michael Cerveris: You had all this time to decide, and you just want boring old vanilla ice cream?

[9:03] Jeremy Kushnier: You've got to get out there and try new things, Mary.

[9:06] Michael Cerveris: The world is full of interesting flavors like pistachio and coconut.

[9:10] Jeremy Kushnier: I don't like coconut.

[9:11] Michael Cerveris: Look here. Look at this article in my magazine.

[9:14] Jeremy Kushnier: Oh, a new magazine? What is this one?

[9:16] Michael Cerveris: It's my special edition of Backstage. This is the how to succeed in New York without really trying issue.

[9:22] Jeremy Kushnier: Look here. There's a restaurant in New York City that has desserts from all over the world.

[9:27] Michael Cerveris: One day, when I'm an adult, I'm going to be a world-famous actor on the Broadway stage, and I'll eat at all the best restaurants in New York City.

[9:35] Jeremy Kushnier: Just you wait and see.

[9:37] Michael Cerveris: Sounds impressive.

[9:38] Jeremy Kushnier: I will be one day.

[9:39] Michael Cerveris: Now hold on, Mary. I just got to grab your ice cream from the back.

[9:45] Jeremy Kushnier: George Failing, I know you can't hear me, but I'm going to love you until the day I die.

[9:53] Michael Cerveris: George! Does anyone around here pay you to sing for your supper?

[9:57] Jeremy Kushnier: No, sir.

[9:59] Michael Cerveris: Then knock it off. Anyone can whistle, but that doesn't mean that they should.

[10:04] Jeremy Kushnier: E gods, what's gotten into him?

[10:07] Michael Cerveris: I don't know. Say, wait a minute. There's a telegram here on the counter.

[10:12] Jeremy Kushnier: Dear Doc, stop. We must inform you that your son passed away this morning from influenza.

[10:17] Michael Cerveris: Stop. His last words were, don't stop. Stop. Stop. Hold on to that feeling. Stop.

[10:24] Jeremy Kushnier: Oh, no, that's terrible. Poor Doc.

[10:26] Michael Cerveris: Mind taking your ice cream to go, Mary?

[10:28] Jeremy Kushnier: I should go check on him in the back.

[10:30] Michael Cerveris: You're such a kind boy, George. Of course I'll take the ice cream to go.

[10:33] Jeremy Kushnier: But I haven't paid you yet.

[10:35] Michael Cerveris: It's on the house. Just this once.

[10:37] Jeremy Kushnier: Thanks, George. Goodbye.

[10:44] Jeremy Kushnier: Doc. Doc. You OK?

[10:46] Michael Cerveris: What's up, Doc?

[10:48] Jeremy Kushnier: Stop your yelling, boy. I'm right here.

[10:50] Michael Cerveris: What is it? Are you OK, sir? Is there anything I can do for you?

[10:54] Michael Cerveris: Oh, yeah. Everything's all right. Yes, everything's fine. There's nothing you can do anyway.

[11:01] Michael Cerveris: This is Medlock called. Colin isn't doing well and needs this box of capsules I've just created.

[11:08] Jeremy Kushnier: Run these to their house immediately. I need to go lie down in the back.

[11:12] Jeremy Kushnier: But wait. Doc. Did you just make these capsules yourself?

[11:16] Michael Cerveris: Yes, of course I did. I just said that. Insolent boy.

[11:20] Jeremy Kushnier: But you didn't use this jar of powder to fill up the capsules. Right, Doc?

[11:24] Michael Cerveris: Yes, I did. Now do as you're told and take the capsules to Mrs. Medlock for her boy.

[11:30] Jeremy Kushnier: My goodness, George. You could drive a person crazy.

[11:33] Michael Cerveris: Do-do-do-do. But sir, this jar of powder is marked poison.

[11:37] Michael Cerveris: Not another word out of you. Go.

[11:41] Jeremy Kushnier: Ah, gee whiz. What a pickle. I can't take these capsules filled with poison to Mrs. Medlock.

[11:47] Jeremy Kushnier: But Doc isn't listening to me. What do I do?

[11:51] Jeremy Kushnier: Oh, I know. I'll go see my dad. He always knows what to do.

[12:06] Jeremy Kushnier: Pop, Pop. I gotta talk to you.

[12:08] Aunt Millie: George, George. Calm yourself. You can't come barging in here during business hours. Your father is a very busy man.

[12:14] Jeremy Kushnier: I know, Aunt Millie. Aunt Millie, I just have to talk to him about something important.

[12:18] Aunt Millie: About these. Gimme, gimme, George. Why, these are pills for Colin Craven. They say you're to deliver these to Mrs. Medlock.

[12:25] Aunt Millie: Whatever does that have to do with your father?

[12:27] Jeremy Kushnier: I just gotta speak to him.

[12:28] Aunt Millie: Well, you just can't, George. He's in his office right now trying to reason with the mean, angry old Mr. Plotter,

[12:34] Aunt Millie: the richest and most powerful man in town.

[12:36] Jeremy Kushnier: Well, I'm going in there.

[12:38] Aunt Millie: No, George. You have to be reasonable.

[12:41] Jeremy Kushnier: I have been more than reasonable, sir. It is you who needs to come to grips with reality.

[12:47] Mr. Plotter: I'm a businessman, and as such, I cannot allow you another extension on your load.

[12:53] Jeremy Kushnier: We just need a little more time. Ever since you started this insane operation, Mr. Failing, you've needed nothing but time.

[12:58] Mr. Plotter: Time and music. Mr. Plotter, Broadway-bound kids is so much more than time or music.

[13:07] Jeremy Kushnier: Exposing children to the arts and giving them a chance to stand on stage and learn confidence, self-respect, and the ability to present themselves.

[13:14] Mr. Plotter: These skills are priceless for the leaders of tomorrow.

[13:17] Mr. Plotter: But they have a price today. You may have your head in the clouds, Mr. Failing, but I have my feet on the ground,

[13:23] Mr. Plotter: and I won't be dragged down by your crazy plans to bring...

[13:27] Jeremy Kushnier: Don't you talk to my father that way.

[13:29] Aunt Millie: Okay, George, that's enough.

[13:31] Jeremy Kushnier: No, don't take that kind of talk from him, Pop. You're the top. You're the Coliseum.

[13:36] Jeremy Kushnier: Mr. Plotter's just a mean old man with nothing but his money to keep him company.

[13:41] Mr. Plotter: Well, I never.

[13:42] Aunt Millie: Don't let him say those things, Pop.

[13:44] Mr. Plotter: Okay, George, okay. Thank you. I'll talk to you tonight, but you've got to go.

[13:49] Aunt Millie: Millie, can you take George outside?

[13:51] Mr. Plotter: Forget about the boy, gentlemen. I'll get him out of here.

[13:54] Jeremy Kushnier: But, Pop!

[13:55] Mr. Plotter: I'm sorry, George. I'll see you tonight at 8. Now run along, George. I have to go make a call to the bank examiner.

[14:02] Aunt Millie: Okay, Aunt Millie. Gee, what am I going to do? I guess I'll just have to go back to Doc's Drugstore.

[14:18] Jeremy Jordan: Yes, Mrs. Medlock. I sent the boy over to your place a while ago. The pills should be there now.

[14:24] Michael Cerveris: Hey, Doc. I need to talk to you.

[14:26] Jeremy Jordan: Hold on, Mrs. Medlock. I'll have to call you back. I'm reviewing the situation.

[14:31] Jeremy Jordan: The pills will be there right away.

[14:33] Michael Cerveris: Something's rotten here, boy, and it seems to be you.

[14:37] Michael Cerveris: Why haven't you delivered those capsules to Mrs. Medlock? That boy Colin is very sick.

[14:43] Jeremy Jordan: Yes, Doc. I know. But it's just that...

[14:45] Michael Cerveris: It's just that you're a riffraff! Street rat!

[14:47] Jeremy Jordan: No, Doc. Listen, it's just...

[14:49] Michael Cerveris: Why, I ought to knock you over the moon! A leap of...

[14:55] Jeremy Jordan: Please, Doc. You put something wrong in these capsules.

[14:58] Michael Cerveris: What?

[14:59] Jeremy Jordan: They're poison, I tell you. They're poison!

[15:01] Michael Cerveris: What?

[15:02] Jeremy Jordan: I know you're upset, Doc. I saw the telegram, and I'm so sorry you lost your son.

[15:06] Jeremy Jordan: You're upset, so you didn't notice the bottle of powder you used to fill the capsules clearly said poison.

[15:12] Jeremy Jordan: See? The bottle's right there. Please don't fire me, sir. I understand you're upset.

[15:18] Michael Cerveris: Let me see that. Oh, George!

[15:21] Jeremy Jordan: Please don't hit me or fire me, but especially don't hit me because that would be wildly inappropriate.

[15:27] Michael Cerveris: No, George. You're right. You're right. Oh, I'm sorry. Oh, my boy, I'm so, so sorry.

[15:35] Jeremy Jordan: Don't worry, Doc. I won't tell anyone. Promise.

[15:38] Jeremy Jordan: I cross my heart and swear to die. Honest. I know you're upset.

[15:42] Michael Cerveris: Oh, George. What a miraculous boy.

[15:47] Jeremy Jordan: A miraculous boy indeed.

[15:49] Michael Cerveris: You got that right, Clarence and Flaherty. George truly saved the day with that one.

[15:53] Michael Cerveris: But what's more miraculous are the things that he's done since he's become a man.

[15:57] Michael Cerveris: We're going to jump ahead in the timeline a bit so that you can see what we mean.

[16:01] Michael Cerveris: So look there, Clarence.

[16:02] James Monroe Iglehart: Where?

[16:03] Michael Cerveris: There. That right there is George Failing, grown up.

[16:10] Michael Cerveris: A real man with a mission like you see on television.

[16:13] Michael Cerveris: He's a real, fine, genuine man.

[16:16] Michael Cerveris: And right now he's getting ready for what he thinks will be the trip of his lifetime.

[16:22] Madison Stratton: George, come down here and bring your brother Harry. It's time for dinner.

[16:25] Jeremy Jordan: I'm right here, Aunt Millie. Come on, Harry. Aunt Millie and Pop are waiting for us for dinner.

[16:29] Madison Stratton: Oh, George, I can't eat before tonight. I'm too excited for the graduation party at the gymnasium.

[16:34] Jeremy Jordan: You're coming with me, right?

[16:36] Madison Stratton: Now, Harry, you have to eat something.

[16:38] Jeremy Jordan: Come on, George.

[16:39] Harry: Oh, I don't know, Harry. I feel silly. You're the one who graduated, not me. I'd just be the older brother tagging along.

[16:45] Harry: George, you just gotta come along. All the boys are excited to see you.

[16:48] Harry: And so are at least one or two of the girls.

[16:51] Harry: You'll have them all asking, how about a dance?

[16:53] Jeremy Jordan: Well, I guess I could go and raise a little hell.

[16:57] Jeremy Jordan: After all, it is my last night in Bedlam Falls.

[16:59] Harry: Exactly. So you owe it to the old gang to come hang out before you head off to the big fancy city to become some big actor.

[17:06] Jeremy Jordan: You got that right, brother. This world will remember me. You mark my words.

[17:11] Jeremy Jordan: Aunt Millie, where's my bow tie? I can't go to the party unless I'm looking my best.

[17:16] Madison Stratton: Come and eat first and I'll help you find it later.

[17:18] Jeremy Jordan: I can't eat, Aunt Millie. Please, I gotta get ready. Everyone will be waiting.

[17:22] Madison Stratton: Oh, goodness, Harry. I'm coming. I'm coming.

[17:25] Michael Cerveris: So, George, you're still set on leaving us for the lights and promise of fame and fortune in New York City?

[17:31] Jeremy Jordan: Yeah, Pop. Too late to turn back now. I gotta get out there in the world and see what I can make of myself.

[17:36] Michael Cerveris: I just always thought you would take over for me with Broadway Bound Kids.

[17:40] Michael Cerveris: You know how important our work is to the community. Sure, I'm not a star.

[17:45] Jeremy Jordan: You are to everyone who knows you.

[17:47] Michael Cerveris: And you could be too, son. Just think of how much good you can do here.

[17:51] Michael Cerveris: How many children's lives would be affected by your hard work and dedication.

[17:55] Jeremy Jordan: Oh, I know, Pop, but I gotta see if I can make something of myself in NYC.

[18:00] Jeremy Jordan: I've always said to myself, I'll be there someday. I can go the distance.

[18:06] Jeremy Jordan: I will find my way if I can be strong. I know every mile would be worth my while.

[18:11] Jeremy Jordan: When I go the distance, I will be right where I belong.

[18:15] Michael Cerveris: Well, I won't stand in your way, son.

[18:18] Michael Cerveris: But I wish I could have the peace of mind that you'd be here to carry on the good work of Broadway Bound Kids and make sure that Mr. Plotter doesn't completely shut it down.

[18:26] Jeremy Jordan: Still having issues with Mr. Plotter? I thought you made him a member of the board.

[18:30] Michael Cerveris: I did. And I thought that it would make him relax and give us a break.

[18:34] Michael Cerveris: I was wrong. He's been harder on us than ever.

[18:37] Jeremy Jordan: Aw, you can't let Mr. Plotter get to you, Pop. He's a monster, Mr. Plotter.

[18:41] Jeremy Jordan: His heart's an empty hole. His brain is full of spiders. He's got garlic in his soul, that Mr. Plotter.

[18:47] Michael Cerveris: Yes, but nothing you need to worry about. You're on your way to becoming a star.

[18:52] Michael Cerveris: But first, you're on your way to the party with me. So hurry up and get dressed. We're leaving in five minutes.

[18:57] Madison Stratton: At least eat a little bit before you go.

[19:00] Jeremy Jordan: Aunt Millie, we've gotta stay light on our feet for the girls.

[19:03] Madison Stratton: Now you boys listen up now, you hear? Absolutely no drinking.

[19:08] Harry: Oh, come on.

[19:09] Madison Stratton: I'm serious now. I won't hear of it.

[19:11] Harry: No, you won't. We'll make sure to keep it a secret.

[19:13] Michael Cerveris: Harry.

[19:14] Michael Cerveris: We can talk more about this later, Pop.

[19:16] Michael Cerveris: There's nothing more to talk about, George. I'm proud of you for pursuing your dreams.

[19:20] Michael Cerveris: How could I ever fault you for that?

[19:22] Madison Stratton: Time to go, George.

[19:23] Jeremy Jordan: Well, hold your horses, Harry. I'm gonna get dressed. I'm sure I haven't packed all my Sunday clothes just yet.

[19:28] Michael Cerveris: Oh, this is exciting. They're going to a party.

[19:32] James Monroe Iglehart: That's right. George and his brother Harry. Off to a party with him.

[19:36] James Monroe Iglehart: Look, they're off to a party.

[19:39] James Monroe Iglehart: A party in the local high school gymnasium. A dance to celebrate the graduation of Harry's high school class.

[19:44] James Monroe Iglehart: But George never would remember this night as a night celebrating Harry.

[19:48] James Monroe Iglehart: He wouldn't even remember it as the night he celebrated finally leaving Bedlam Falls.

[19:52] James Monroe Iglehart: Because the truth is, this night brought something else entirely.

[19:57] Michael Cerveris: What? What is it?

[19:58] James Monroe Iglehart: Love. Love is a thing that has licked him, and it looks like George is about to become just another victim.

[20:04] Michael Cerveris: Watch.

[20:08] James Monroe Iglehart: Aren't you glad you came along?

[20:10] Harry: Definitely, Harry, but I'm feeling a little bit out of place. I think I might have...

[20:14] James Monroe Iglehart: Is that George Failing?

[20:15] Harry: Oh, well, it's got to be, but is it?

[20:19] James Monroe Iglehart: You! George Failing!

[20:21] Harry: You lucky dog. That's Daisy and Violet.

[20:24] James Monroe Iglehart: They're the queen of beasts. They can smell your fear.

[20:27] James Monroe Iglehart: In this biosphere, they are the apex predators.

[20:29] Harry: Cut it out, Harry.

[20:34] James Monroe Iglehart: George Failing, as I do live and breathe.

[20:36] James Monroe Iglehart: Here you are. It's so good to see you.

[20:40] Harry: Hey! Well, how are things in what's-the-name-of-the-gated-community-you-guys-live-in?

[20:45] James Monroe Iglehart: Glaucomora?

[20:46] Harry: Yeah, how are things... there?

[20:49] James Monroe Iglehart: Who cares? All that's at home is our room.

[20:53] James Monroe Iglehart: And what good is sitting alone in your room?

[20:55] James Monroe Iglehart: Come, hear the music play. Dance with us, George.

[20:59] Harry: Ah, shucks. You don't want to dance with me.

[21:01] James Monroe Iglehart: I'll gladly step in.

[21:02] Harry: I'm sorry. Who are you?

[21:04] James Monroe Iglehart: No one. Sorry.

[21:05] James Monroe Iglehart: Dance with us, Georgie.

[21:06] Jeremy Jordan: I don't know. I have two left feet.

[21:08] James Monroe Iglehart: So do we! Come on, Georgie. Sooner or later, you're gonna decide.

[21:14] James Monroe Iglehart: Sooner or later, there's nowhere to hide.

[21:16] James Monroe Iglehart: Baby, it's time. So why waste it and chatter?

[21:19] James Monroe Iglehart: Baby, you're ours on a platter.

[21:21] James Monroe Iglehart: We always get ours.

[22:09] Jeremy Jordan: One dance, Harry, then I gotta go.

[22:11] Harry: Well, you better make this dance count, then.

[22:13] Harry: Because this next dance is the dance competition.

[22:17] Harry: Everyone has their money on Cha-Cha DiGregorio and her partner.

[22:42] Harry: All right, Georgie, the dance competition is starting.

[22:45] Harry: May the best couple win.

[22:47] Madison Stratton: Shall we dance?

[22:48] Jeremy Jordan: I sort of have two left feet.

[22:49] Madison Stratton: Oh, come on. Even guys with two left feet come out all right if the girl is sweet.

[22:54] Madison Stratton: And I promise to be as sweet as apple pie.

[22:57] Jeremy Jordan: You know what? Let's dance.

[22:58] Madison Stratton: What?

[22:59] Jeremy Jordan: Let's dance!

[23:01] Harry: Harry, look at George and Mary go! They're lasting longer than I thought!

[23:06] Harry: Yeah, you're right. Maybe we should do something about that.

[23:09] James Monroe Iglehart: What do you mean?

[23:10] Harry: Well, you do know that the school just put a swimming pool in underneath the gym floor.

[23:15] James Monroe Iglehart: Yeah, dummy. Everyone knows that.

[23:17] Harry: Well, did you know that if you push that button right over there, the gym floor will begin to open up and expose the swimming pool?

[23:24] James Monroe Iglehart: Great hawk. You don't say.

[23:26] Harry: I do say.

[23:27] Harry: And did you know that right now, George and Mary are doing the Charleston right over the spot where the floor would open up?

[23:38] Harry: What's that, Tommy?

[23:39] Harry: I'm gonna push the button.

[23:43] Jeremy Jordan: Hey, Mary, we must be pretty good because everyone else has stopped dancing and is just staring at us as if they're bewitched or bothered or bewildered even.

[23:54] Madison Stratton: Oh, my goodness. They're right on the edge.

[24:04] Jeremy Jordan: Come on, Mary. We gotta go for the big finish.

[24:07] Jeremy Jordan: Lift me, George. And for the finale, a dramatic dip.

[24:11] Jeremy Jordan: Here we go.

[24:13] Jeremy Jordan: Whoa.

[24:15] Jeremy Jordan: Hey, Mary. Mary, are you all right?

[24:21] Madison Stratton: It's just a little water. No one's gonna melt from a little water.

[24:25] Jeremy Jordan: So what do we do now?

[24:26] Madison Stratton: Just keep dancing.

[24:27] Madison Stratton: Which is actually more like swimming.

[24:29] James Monroe Iglehart: Just keep swimming. Just keep swimming.

[24:33] James Monroe Iglehart: Oh, what fun. I remember my youth.

[24:37] James Monroe Iglehart: We had some of the best parties.

[25:20] Jeremy Jordan: Wow, my head started reeling.

[25:21] Jeremy Jordan: You gave me the feeling the room has no ceiling or floor.

[25:24] Madison Stratton: George, we're outside. You're walking me home.

[25:27] Jeremy Jordan: You may be walking, but I am flying over a mountain in Meadow and Glen.

[25:31] Jeremy Jordan: And I like it so well that for all I can tell, I may never come down again.

[25:35] Madison Stratton: You can say that again.

[25:36] Madison Stratton: I may never come down to Earth again.

[25:57] Jeremy Jordan: You are a very pretty woman.

[26:00] Madison Stratton: Oh, look, Mary, the old house on Maple Avenue, the fun home.

[26:03] Jeremy Jordan: Come on, let's throw a rock at it.

[26:04] Madison Stratton: Oh, don't, please.

[26:06] Madison Stratton: I love that old house.

[27:36] Jeremy Jordan: Try again with another dream.

[28:08] Jeremy Jordan: Like a balloon, I'd pull the string.

[28:12] Jeremy Jordan: Drag down the moon, then propose like it's a ring.

[37:27] Michael Cerveris: George watches from across the street as the board members leave the building a few minutes later.

[37:31] Michael Cerveris: Getting in their chitty-chitty cars and driving out to the streets where they live, the last person to leave was Mr. Plotter.

[37:38] Michael Cerveris: A few moments later, Aunt Millie came running outside.

[37:43] James Monroe Iglehart: Hello, George.

[37:44] James Monroe Iglehart: Where did you go, George?

[37:46] James Monroe Iglehart: I know you're near, George.

[37:48] Jeremy Jordan: I'm right here, Aunt Millie. What is it? What's happened? Burned the bridge? Bet the store?

[37:54] James Monroe Iglehart: Well said in there to Plotter, Georgie.

[37:56] Jeremy Jordan: I can't, not for the life of me, believe that just happened, but I am so proud of you that it did.

[38:03] James Monroe Iglehart: I've always wanted to see his face turn that specific shade of pretty woman dress red.

[38:08] James Monroe Iglehart: Come here, George. I just have to pinch those cheeks. Gimme, gimme.

[38:12] Jeremy Jordan: Aunt Millie, what happened with the vote?

[38:15] James Monroe Iglehart: Well, the minute you left the room, it turned a corner.

[38:18] James Monroe Iglehart: They were all stopped on a dime, like they remembered something long forgotten that they didn't belong to Plotter.

[38:23] James Monroe Iglehart: So the board has officially voted to turn down Mr. Plotter's motion to shut down Broadway-bound kids.

[38:29] Jeremy Jordan: That's incredible. I owe you a bottle of cold champagne.

[38:33] James Monroe Iglehart: No.

[38:34] Jeremy Jordan: Yeah, cold champagne.

[38:36] James Monroe Iglehart: Damn, the bottle's all sweaty and everything. You went and got this?

[38:39] James Monroe Iglehart: Pop the champagne.

[38:40] Jeremy Jordan: Okay, okay, so Broadway-bound kids stays open? That's great.

[38:44] James Monroe Iglehart: Yeah, as long as you agree to take over and run Freedom Run, the whole organization.

[38:49] Jeremy Jordan: I'm sorry, I don't think I heard you right. Remember about my deaf ear? Remember?

[38:55] Jeremy Jordan: I said Broadway-bound kids only stays open if you agree to run the organization.

[39:02] James Monroe Iglehart: The board fully fell in love with your speech and, well, it has to be you or they vote to close it down.

[39:08] Jeremy Jordan: But Aunt Millie, I only postponed my move to New York City for a few weeks due to my dad's passing and needing to settle his affairs. I'm still leaving. I'm going to pursue my dream in NYC.

[39:18] James Monroe Iglehart: I know, Georgie. And I told them that, but you know how it is. No matter what you say, boardrooms won't listen.

[39:26] Jeremy Jordan: What are they trying to do to me? Close every door to me? Hide all the world from me? I wish...

[39:31] James Monroe Iglehart: Careful the wish you make. Wishes are children.

[39:34] James Monroe Iglehart: And after all, you don't have to stay. You can still go.

[39:38] Jeremy Jordan: But then Broadway-bound kids...

[39:40] James Monroe Iglehart: Oh, think of something.

[39:42] James Monroe Iglehart: Hey, you've done enough. Gotta have some positivity. At least your outbursts bought me a day or two to think of something. Let's at least drink to that.

[39:52] James Monroe Iglehart: Tonight we're drinking straight from the bottle. Cheers! Zooto-wop-bum.

[39:56] Jeremy Jordan: Okay, so when are you going to start trying to convince me to stay?

[39:59] James Monroe Iglehart: Oh, I would never do that to you.

[40:02] Jeremy Jordan: But...

[40:03] James Monroe Iglehart: Here we go. I will say that Mary has been just the greatest to our family these past few weeks. She made that lasagna that we loved, and those pies, and this morning it was the strangest thing, really. She showed up and had a basket of baked goods and a frozen casserole.

[40:21] Jeremy Jordan: And a rock.

[40:22] James Monroe Iglehart: A what?

[40:23] Jeremy Jordan: I mean a big-ass rock. I asked her why, and she said you might need it.

[40:28] Jeremy Jordan: Say, Aunt Millie, isn't Mary going steady with Harvey Johnson? I mean, doesn't everyone expect her to...

[40:33] James Monroe Iglehart: Listen, George, if he liked it, then he should have put a ring on it.

[40:37] Jeremy Jordan: Beyoncé?

[40:38] James Monroe Iglehart: Beyoncé's show on Broadway 2063. Thirteen women, three men, and six non-binary individuals portray the Queen Bee throughout her life and career.

[40:48] Jeremy Jordan: Yeah, I'd see that. Maybe I'll swing by Mary's house just to see if she's home.

[40:53] Jeremy Jordan: It's strange, this Mary. She leaves the room, yet remains. She lingers on. Something stirs me to think of her. I think of her.

[41:04] James Monroe Iglehart: Goin' courtin', goin' courtin'.

[41:06] Jeremy Jordan: Aunt Millie, please.

[41:09] James Monroe Iglehart: Goin' courtin', goin' courtin'. Here's a little feminine advice. Roll your eyes and give a little sigh. Grunt and groan like you're about to die. That is what's known as a moatin' goin' courtin'.

[41:21] Jeremy Jordan: Okay, that was a lot. I gotta go.

[41:23] James Monroe Iglehart: Well, you're stuck with me. You'll never get away from me. You could climb the tallest tree. I'd be there somehow.

[41:28] Jeremy Jordan: Here's your hat.

[41:29] James Monroe Iglehart: That won't stop me now. Come on, give me a hug. Go and find your love. Go and swim the sea. You know where I'll be. Always there with me.

[41:38] Michael Cerveris: George failing.

[41:39] Jeremy Jordan: I'll see you at home, Aunt Millie.

[41:41] Michael Cerveris: So off George went with only fate as his guide. He decided if anything was meant to keep him away from going to Mary's, it would happen.

[41:50] Michael Cerveris: And what would you know? But on his walk to Mary's house, George ran into someone. Well, two someones. And he thought it might be written in the stars.

[42:02] James Monroe Iglehart: George failing.

[42:03] Jeremy Jordan: Is that?

[42:06] James Monroe Iglehart: Well, hello, Daisy.

[42:08] James Monroe Iglehart: Howdy, Violet. That is a mighty nice dress you're both wearing.

[42:13] Violet: Oh, this old thing? Talk about rags.

[42:16] Daisy: Absolutely rag time. But thank you for the compliment.

[42:19] James Monroe Iglehart: Still heading off to New York City? Going to be a star?

[42:22] Jeremy Jordan: I don't know. Things are getting complicated.

[42:24] Daisy: Oh, trust us. We understand complicated.

[42:27] Violet: We both want to be stars and run away to the bright lights of New York City.

[42:31] Daisy: Well, she wants stability. She would like fame.

[42:34] Violet: I want serenity. Frenzy to claim.

[42:37] Jeremy Jordan: Wow, you can't agree on a single response.

[42:39] Daisy: We want what everyone wants.

[42:41] James Monroe Iglehart: Well, you know what? Let's do it.

[42:44] Daisy: What?

[1:13:54] Mary: Okay, what still needs to be done? Wine's been poured, and thank the Lord I've had the napkins freshly pressed. With dessert, they'll want tea.

[1:14:04] Evan: How does everything look, Mama?

[1:14:10] Mary: Oh, my dear, that's fine with me. Thank you, Evan and Jared, for helping.

[1:14:15] Alana: And I only didn't help because I'm practicing so that I can play at the party tonight, Mother.

[1:14:19] Mary: As long as you play the music that makes me dance.

[1:14:25] George: Oh, Mary, I didn't hear you come down the stairs. Is Zoe asleep?

[1:14:30] Mary: I think so. Okay, I want her to sleep for at least an hour before the guests arrive. George, why don't you run on back upstairs and get showered and get ready for the party? I'll get the kids ready and finish the cooking and the baking.

[1:14:42] George: Mary, I think we should cancel the party.

[1:14:46] Mary: Cancel the party? Oh, don't be silly, George. You always get a little grumpy before the holiday party every year. You begin the night as the Grinch, but end it as a one-man Wallace and Davis. You know, I look forward to this wild party every year. It turns this house into the Holiday Inn. Please don't spoil that for me. Now go get dressed.

[1:15:04] George: Mary, I need to talk to you.

[1:15:07] Mary: George, George, what is it?

[1:15:10] George: Oh, Mary.

[1:15:12] Mary: George, hey, listen to me. You can tell me what's wrong. Your wife isn't going anywhere. Your wife is staying right here, no matter what. I'll be here when it all feels so big till it all feels small. Just tell me. What's wrong with Pop, Mama?

[1:15:31] Mary: Nothing, children. I've laid out your party outfits on your bed, so will you all please go upstairs and put them on?

[1:15:37] Jared: Yes, Mother.

[1:15:39] Alana: But I need to practice for the party.

[1:15:42] Mary: Well, then fine, Alana. Why don't we all just stop what we're doing and let you practice? I'll shut my mouth and let you go. Is that good for you? Would that be good for you? You? You?

[1:15:52] George: George!

[1:15:54] Alana: Oh, Daddy.

[1:15:56] George: It's all right, sweetheart. Come here. I'm sorry, Alana. You go on and play if you want.

[1:16:01] George: If you're going to be the demon father of Maple Street, then you can... Well, you can just get out and stay out.

[1:16:10] Mary: Come here, Alana. Come sit with me a moment.

[1:16:14] George: Mary.

[1:16:16] Mary: George, you can't sit with us.

[1:16:19] George: Fine. Enjoy the party. Guess I'm leaving. I'm gone.

[1:16:25] Mary: Oh, George, the party goes with you.

[1:16:30] Zoe: Is Daddy okay, Mother darling?

[1:16:34] Mary: He's going to be, darling.

[1:16:37] Zoe: Should we pray for him, Mom?

[1:16:41] Mary: Yes. While you're getting ready for the party, think to yourselves, we beseech thee, hear us. No, go get ready.

[1:16:50] Aunt Millie: Hi, Mary. What's the story, Morning Glory? What's the tale, Nightingale?

[1:16:54] Mary: Hi, Aunt Millie. Can you tell me what's wrong with George?

[1:16:58] Aunt Millie: Oh, no. George is falling slowly. Yes, he's definitely far from the shallow now. Desperate, and at the end of his rope, George went to the only place he could think of to get away, to his favorite bar called Squig's Digs.

[1:17:16] Squigs: George, my old friend. Delighted to see you, man. Come right up. Got a prime seat right here at the bar for you. I never thought I'd see you tonight. You being a family man and all.

[1:17:27] George: Family man? I'll drink to that. Problems at home?

[1:17:31] Squigs: Problems just about everywhere else, squigs. What's wrong, George? How can I help? Make my drink a double and then pour me another round.

[1:17:40] Squigs: George, if you're down, you know I'll always raise you up any way I can. If it weren't for you, I'd never have started turning my drawings into anything more than these silly doodles at the bar. But because of you, we're releasing a new edition of Lights of Broadway show cards this month.

[1:18:02] George: Ah, squigs, that's amazing. Congratulations.

[1:18:06] Squigs: Oh, it's hard to take congratulations from a man with such a long face. Come on, George. Say it somehow, any way you can.

[1:18:14] George: You know me. It's bad, squigs. I'm practically on Skid Row.

[1:18:20] Squigs: Okay, well, take a big gulp of your drink and let's talk it out together.

[1:18:26] Narrator: Oh, he needs a whole lot more than pick a little talk a little to fix the mess he's in.

[1:18:31] Mr. Plotter: Mr. Plotter, what are you doing here?

[1:18:34] Squigs: Having a celebratory brandy.

[1:18:37] Mr. Plotter: And what are you celebrating?

[1:18:40] Squigs: My truly scrumptious victory over the failing family and the pathetic dream that was Broadway-bound kids. Misappropriation of funds is what they're saying. Scandalous, really.

[1:18:51] George: I never would have thought that you are Aunt Millie.

[1:18:54] Mr. Plotter: Yes, all that really matters is the blame. Somebody to blame.

[1:19:00] George: Well, if that's what you enjoy, placing the blame. If that's the aim, give me the blame.

[1:19:06] Mr. Plotter: You? Are you saying that you are solely responsible for any mishandling of funds? Not a we both reached for the gun kind of approach? You're taking the blame?

[1:19:17] George: Squigs, put his drink on my tab. Cheers.

[1:19:20] Mr. Plotter: I will drink your cup of poison.

[1:19:25] George: Cheers, Mr. Plotter. I always wondered how Daisy and Violet made it to New York so quickly. Guess it makes sense.

[1:19:34] Mr. Plotter: Have Broadway-bound kids for warmth and then marry for bread and the twins for whatever.

[1:19:40] George: Never!

[1:19:42] Mr. Plotter: Well, no one knows how the real truth goes. It all depends what you hear from friends. It's no surprise if it's all just lies. But that's what some say.

[1:19:53] George: Mr. Plotter, please. I'm all out of options and I'm really lost in the wilderness here.

[1:19:59] Mr. Plotter: With you, it's all or nothing, George. All for you and nothing for me. But maybe this time, maybe this time I'll win.

[1:20:11] Officer Nicky: Good evening, ladies and gentlemen. Oh, hello, Officer Nicky Krupke.

[1:20:16] Squigs: Oh, you can just call me Nicky, Squigs. Officer Nicky. Catch me if you can. Now, this will only take a moment. I'm just looking for George Failing.

[1:20:27] Squigs: Oh, George. Well, he's right. Wait. He was just here a moment ago. Where did he go?

[1:20:33] Nicky: He's right there.

[1:20:35] Squigs: Where?

[1:20:37] Nicky: There. Right there. He's trying to sneak out the door.

[1:20:41] George: George, at last we see each other plain. I am warning you, Nicky, I am a stronger man by far. There is power in me yet. My race is not yet run.

[1:20:53] Nicky: George, I don't want to have to go rocky on you.

[1:20:57] George: Well, then now, Nicky, it looks like our bodies are the guilty ones.

[1:21:01] Narrator: Oh, Nicky punched George right in the jaw. His mouth's bleeding.

[1:21:06] George: My hair.

[1:21:08] Nicky: His mouth is bleeding.

[1:21:10] George: My police uniform.

[1:21:12] Narrator: Wow. That seems like an important plot point. George, are you all right?

[1:21:16] George: My nose ain't broken. Not like yours is.

[1:21:20] Nicky: But my nose isn't. Sorry, Nicky.

[1:21:24] Officer: Ow! Officer, get up. Get him. He's getting away.

[1:21:29] Narrator: What do you know? Now George is the man that got away.

[1:21:34] George: Got away. Atta boy, George.

[1:21:37] Narrator: Okay, Clarence and Flaherty, get ready because you're about to enter the story. To earn my membership into the Angels Equity Association and finally feel the wind beneath my wings.

[1:21:46] Narrator: George runs aimlessly through the town of Bedlam Falls and ends up at the bridge over the big river. There, lost in the darkness, silence surrounds him. Once there was morning, now endless night. At the end of this tumultuous day, George is on the verge of losing everything and his desperation is taking him to the edge.

[1:22:04] George: I am reaching but I fall and the stars is black and cold as I stare into a void of a world that cannot hold. I'll escape now from the world. A world of make it or break it where I am clearly broken, barely staying one jump ahead of the bread line. Now it's just one jump.

[1:22:20] Narrator: Oh no, George, no. Good luck, Clarence. You can do this. Keep on standing in the ring and help George failing. But how?

[1:22:29] George: I wish. I wish I'd never been born.

[1:22:34] Narrator: That's it. Ready or not, looks like you've got your dream.

[1:22:39] Narrator: It's a bit extreme, but it's just what you need.

[1:22:45] Narrator: Now you'll see what the whole world would miss if George failing did not exist.

[1:22:54] Narrator: Watch out below!

[1:22:58] George: Help! Help! That man just fell out of the sky like he tumbled out of that flying car at the end of the movie version of Grease. Why did that car fly at all? What does that even mean? You know, I'm not the unsinkable Molly Brown over here, so a little help would be appreciated.

[1:23:14] Clarence: Right, sorry. Come on. There, we're safe on the land.

[1:23:19] George: What in Carmen Cusack's name were you thinking jumping in the water like that?

[1:23:24] Clarence: I was stopping you from doing it.

[1:23:27] George: What do you mean?

[1:23:29] Clarence: I know what you were about to do, George, and so I did what I did to stop you from doing what you were going to do.

[1:23:35] George: I don't understand. And wait, wait a minute. How did you know my name?

[1:23:40] Clarence: Well, I'm the only one who knows it now, now that I've given you what you wished for.

[1:23:45] George: Listen, little fella, you aren't making any sense.

[1:23:48] Clarence: Look at your clothes, George. We just got out of the river.

[1:23:52] George: Yeah, and we're probably gonna freeze to death because we're so dry. What kind of magic act are you pulling right now?

[1:24:00] Clarence: What do you mean? Look, my eyes are dry and my clothes and all the rest of me, I'm totally dry.

[1:24:06] George: Yes, yes, and your mouth stopped bleeding.

[1:24:09] Clarence: Well, what do you know? My mouth stopped bleeding and I, wait a second, my deaf ear. I can hear my deaf ear. And Zoe's broad-waisted Lights of Broadway show card, just like McCavity, is not there. What kind of razzle-dazzle is this?

[1:24:25] Clarence: I heard you in your desperate hour wish that you had never been born, so you've gotten what you wanted, the chance to see what the world would be like if you were never born.

[1:24:34] George: Oh yeah? And how would you be able to do that, make it so I was never born?

[1:24:39] Clarence: Well, because I'm an angel, like Teen Angel, except I don't croon about teasing combs and things like that.

[1:24:46] George: You're an angel, huh? Well, then where are your wings?

[1:24:50] Clarence: I'm earning my AEA status on my wings by helping you. I'm an angel.

[1:24:55] George: Angel, indeed. An angel of the first degree. Friends call me Clarence, Clarence in Flaherty, and I'm here to help you with putting it together, bit by bit.

[1:25:05] George: Look, I don't know how you magically dried all our clothes, or if you didn't and my body temperature has just dropped so low that I'm hallucinating all of this. Look, let's go back to my friend Squig's bar, Squig's Digs. I'm sure Nikki and Mr. Plotter have cleared out of there by now, and I could use a tall, stiff drink.

[1:25:20] Clarence: Great idea, George. A muscadine wine would make me feel so fine.

[1:25:25] George: I like hard liquor. It hits me quicker. Come on.

[1:25:30] Narrator: How's he doing down there? Not too bad, if I say so myself. He has made contact. And is showing George the world if he had never been born.

[1:25:39] Narrator: Wow, he's going zero to hero on this one. Damn. Balzac, bro. Totally Balzac. Look, they're coming up to the bar that George knows as Squig's Digs.

[1:25:50] George: Well, wait a second. This doesn't make any sense. This is where Squig's Digs is, but it's got a sign above the door that says The Chum Bucket. But I know this is Squig's place. I helped him set the place up. We'd have the Broadway Bee here every year to raise money for Broadway Bound Kids.

[1:26:04] Clarence: Well, you weren't there to help Squig's and to positively impact his son through the programs of Broadway Bound Kids. So his family went through some hard times and he couldn't keep the bar open. You disappeared, George. Disappeared.

[1:25:43] Michael Cerveris: What's wrong with you? Were you shot in the head by a plasma ray gun from one of my world domination schemes? Because if you were, I have an excellent lawyer, Billy Flynn. You won't get a penny out of me. I don't understand. Thanks for bringing your confusion here. You're really making it the best day ever. So what are you drinking? Tell me quick because the show is about to start. All right, well, I'll have a whiskey on the rocks. Clarence, what do you have? Have you tried a Ritz or a Greyhound? So many drinks at the same time. I've decided it's only right that I try them all and see what I like. Oh, I know. What about a song of purple summer? No, no, no. I know, I know. Pour me something tall and strong. Make it a hurricane before I go insane. Listen, pal, this isn't Margaritaville. We got liquor. We got ice. We got happy customers who tip very well. So what will you have? A gin and tonic, please.

[1:26:51] Michael Cerveris: Here you go, boys. Drink up. Did you hear that? What? Listen, I can hear the bells. Every time a bell rings, an angel gets his angel's equity card.

[1:27:06] Jeremy Jordan: Angels? There's no angels here, kid. Enjoy tonight's entertainment. Really, it's the greatest show. Willkommen and bienvenue. Welcome. Here they are, gents. The overnight sensation. Rare songbirds on display here directly from their sold-out run at the best little whorehouse in Texas. I give you Daisy and Violet.

[1:42:13] Michael Cerveris: We'll not actually die.

[1:42:15] James Monroe Iglehart: George, your mouth is bleeding.

[1:42:16] Jeremy Jordan: My mouth is bleeding?

[1:42:18] James Monroe Iglehart: It is! My mouth is bleeding! Also, I've lost hearing in one ear again.

[1:42:23] Michael Cerveris: And wait! It's here! Zoe's brought wasted lights, a Broadway show card, the signs.

[1:42:29] Jeremy Jordan: These are all clear signs that I've fully returned to my reality.

[1:42:33] James Monroe Iglehart: Back to life? Back to reality?

[1:42:36] Jeremy Jordan: I've got to see Mary.

[1:42:37] James Monroe Iglehart: Well, hop in Nicky's patrol car with us and we'll take you right there.

[1:42:40] Jeremy Jordan: No. No, I can't. I've got to run through the town and scream happy holidays to everything I see.

[1:42:46] James Monroe Iglehart: What? Why?

[1:42:47] Jeremy Jordan: Because it will be iconic!

[1:42:50] James Monroe Iglehart: Oh, there it is! The sign that says Bedlam Falls!

[1:42:53] Jeremy Jordan: Happy holidays, Bedlam Falls! Happy holidays, movie house!

[1:42:57] Jeremy Jordan: Happy holidays, Broadway-bound kids, you incredible organization, you!

[1:43:01] Michael Cerveris: George failing.

[1:43:03] James Monroe Iglehart: How are you not in prison yet?

[1:43:05] Michael Cerveris: Even happy holidays to you, you old grinch, Mr. Plotter.

[1:43:09] Jeremy Jordan: You had it coming, George. You only have yourself to blame.

[1:43:13] Michael Cerveris: And you only have yourself, Mr. Plotter.

[1:43:15] Jeremy Jordan: And on this cold winter night, you can snuggle up to your cash register.

[1:43:20] Michael Cerveris: It's a little lumpy, but it rings.

[1:43:22] Jeremy Jordan: Now, if you'll excuse me, I've got to get home to see my family.

[1:43:26] Michael Cerveris: And the bank examiner. One big happy family.

[1:43:30] Jeremy Jordan: Happy holidays, everyone!

[1:43:37] James Monroe Iglehart: Don't worry, children. Your father will be home soon.

[1:43:40] Michael Cerveris: Your mother and a lot of other people are out looking for him as we speak, and...

[1:43:44] Jeremy Jordan: Daddy!

[1:43:45] Jeremy Jordan: Kids! Kids! Oh, Evan, Jared, Alana, and little Zoe, feeling better.

[1:43:51] Children: Yes, Daddy!

[1:43:52] Michael Cerveris: Oh, George, where have you been?

[1:43:54] Jeremy Jordan: Finding my way back, Aunt Millie.

[1:43:56] Michael Cerveris: Now come here and give me a hug.

[1:43:58] Jeremy Jordan: You're not mad?

[1:43:59] Michael Cerveris: People make mistakes. Fathers, mothers, and even wonderful aunts who mean well.

[1:44:04] Jeremy Jordan: Oh, George!

[1:44:05] Michael Cerveris: Happy holidays, Aunt Millie. Now, where's Mary?

[1:44:08] Michael Cerveris: Oh, George, you'll never believe it.

[1:44:11] Michael Cerveris: Mary's been out looking for you, but she's also done something amazing.

[1:44:15] Michael Cerveris: She called some people and told them you were in trouble, see?

[1:44:18] Michael Cerveris: And they wanted to help.

[1:44:20] Michael Cerveris: And then they told people, and everyone wanted to help, and...

[1:44:24] Michael Cerveris: And, oh, George, just wait and see!

[1:44:27] Michael Cerveris: It's a wonder of wonder, miracle of miracles!

[1:44:31] Michael Cerveris: They're coming! They're coming!

[1:44:33] Michael Cerveris: They're right outside!

[1:44:34] Michael Cerveris: Okay, now, Evan, open the door.

[1:44:37] Michael Cerveris: The rest of you children come stand over here with me.

[1:44:39] Jeremy Jordan: What in the world?

[1:44:43] Michael Cerveris: Mr. Failing.

[1:44:44] Michael Cerveris: Mr. Bank Examiner, you're here to call for my arrest, aren't you?

[1:44:48] Michael Cerveris: There's just a question of the missing funds.

[1:44:50] Michael Cerveris: There's no question about it.

[1:44:53] James Monroe Iglehart: George Failing is an amazing person, and I owe him my life!

[1:44:58] Michael Cerveris: Doc!

[1:44:59] James Monroe Iglehart: George, I'd give my life for you.

[1:45:01] James Monroe Iglehart: But since I can't, I'll give you a stack of bills with Alexander Hamilton on them.

[1:45:07] Jeremy Jordan: Thank you.

[1:45:08] Jeremy Jordan: Thank you so much.

[1:45:10] Michael Cerveris: Oh, George, I came as soon as I could.

[1:45:13] Michael Cerveris: And I came along because I have separation anxiety.

[1:45:16] Michael Cerveris: Daisy! Violet!

[1:45:18] Michael Cerveris: What are you doing here? Aren't you busy starring on Broadway?

[1:45:21] Daisy: We're sharing the title role in an all-female Jekyll and Hyde.

[1:45:27] Violet: And we wouldn't be there if you hadn't selflessly given us your literal ticket for the dream life.

[1:45:34] Daisy: So we wanted to pay you back for the ticket with considerable interest.

[1:45:38] Violet: I cannot speak my heart.

[1:45:40] Daisy: George, you're the top. You're Napoleon Brandy.

[1:45:43] Daisy: So I brought a bunch of it from my bar for everyone to celebrate with.

[1:45:46] Daisy: And I also wanted to pay off my tab I have with you in life for helping my family with Broadway-bound kids.

[1:45:53] Daisy: I owe you the world, but I hope this will do.

[1:45:56] Daisy: Happy holidays, George.

[1:45:57] Michael Cerveris: Happy holidays, Squeeks.

[1:45:59] James Monroe Iglehart: George! George!

[1:46:01] James Monroe Iglehart: It's Harvey Johnson calling long distance.

[1:46:04] Harvey Johnson: Two, two, one.

[1:46:05] James Monroe Iglehart: Harvey Johnson!

[1:46:07] Harvey Johnson: Listen, Georgie, I have to run into a meeting, but I had to call you because Mary phoned and told me you were in trouble.

[1:46:12] Harvey Johnson: Look, you were always there for me when I needed you, Georgie.

[1:46:14] Harvey Johnson: If it weren't for your advice, I never would have invested in Hamilton and made a bazillion dollars.

[1:46:21] Harvey Johnson: So my office just transferred over to Broadway-bound kids a donation for 96,000.

[1:46:26] Jeremy Jordan: Damn.

[1:46:27] James Monroe Iglehart: 96,000.

[1:46:28] Harvey Johnson: Dollars? Holla!

[1:46:30] Harvey Johnson: Take care, Georgie.

[1:46:31] James Monroe Iglehart: Ten, huh?

[1:46:32] Jeremy Jordan: Harry! My little brother, Harry. Oh, it's really so good to see you alive.

[1:46:38] Jeremy Jordan: Wait, everyone can see him, right? This isn't a he's not here, he's not here moment, is it?

[1:46:43] Harry: I'm here, George. And I'd like to propose a toast if Squeeks would be so kind as to pass around the whiskey to everyone.

[1:46:49] James Monroe Iglehart: I guess I'll have one since I'm off duty.

[1:46:51] James Monroe Iglehart: After all, we can't not have a drink for the only guy we'd ever sing a buddy song for.

[1:46:56] James Monroe Iglehart: To my brother, George Failing, a man who through his work with Broadway-bound kids and through the kindness and love he's shown to all of us all our lives, he truly deserves a standing ovation.

[1:47:08] James Monroe Iglehart: So here's to George Failing, the richest man in town.

[1:47:12] Jeremy Jordan: Words fail when I look around at all of you and what you've done for me.

[1:47:21] Jeremy Jordan: Wait, where is Mary? Where's my wife?

[1:47:24] Mary: Here I am.

[1:47:25] Michael Cerveris: She made all this happen, George. Mary conjured up this miracle.

[1:47:30] Jeremy Jordan: No, Aunt Millie. Mary is the miracle.

[1:47:33] Michael Cerveris: Oh, George.

[1:47:34] Jeremy Jordan: Mary.

[1:47:35] Mary: I brought you something. It's a pretty great rock. Maybe this one will get you your dream.

[1:47:41] Jeremy Jordan: I don't need another rock, Mary. You're my dream. You're my rock. My big-ass rock.

[1:47:49] Michael Cerveris: Well, I'd say that my work here is done.

[1:47:51] Michael Cerveris: Thank you, Mr. Bank Examiner. Stay for a drink, won't you? It is the holidays after all.

[1:47:57] Mr. Bank Examiner: Well, I guess I'll stay if your Aunt Millie will still be here and wouldn't mind having a chat.

[1:48:03] Michael Cerveris: Well, I'd be delighted.

[1:48:05] Michael Cerveris: Why don't I tell you about the time that I worked at the Spitfire Grill?

[1:48:09] James Monroe Iglehart: Why don't you play for us, Alana?

[1:48:13] Alana: Should old acquaintance be forgot and never brought to mind?

[1:48:23] Alana: Should old acquaintance be forgot and old lang syne?

[1:48:33] Alana: For old lang syne, my dear, for old lang syne.

[1:48:43] Alana: We'll take a cup of kindness yet for old lang syne.

[1:48:53] Everyone: Should old acquaintance be forgot and never brought to mind?

[1:49:05] Everyone: Should old acquaintance be forgot and old lang syne?

[1:49:17] Everyone: For old lang syne, my dear, for old lang syne.

[1:49:25] Everyone: We'll take a cup of kindness yet for old lang syne.

[1:49:47] Everyone: We'll take a cup of kindness yet for old lang syne.

[1:49:57] Everyone: For old lang syne, my dear, for old lang syne.

[1:50:07] Everyone: For old lang syne, my dear, for old lang syne.

[1:50:17] Everyone: For old lang syne, my dear, for old lang syne.

[1:50:27] Everyone: For old lang syne, my dear, for old lang syne.

[1:50:37] Everyone: For old lang syne, my dear, for old lang syne.

[1:50:47] Everyone: For old lang syne, my dear, for old lang syne.

[1:50:57] Everyone: For old lang syne, my dear, for old lang syne.

[1:51:07] Everyone: For old lang syne, my dear, for old lang syne.

[1:51:17] Everyone: Happy Holidays, everyone.

[1:51:42] Unknown speaker: All right.

[1:51:43] Unknown speaker: Are we recording?

[1:51:44] Unknown speaker: Yeah, we're recording.

[1:51:45] Unknown speaker: Oh, we are?

[1:51:46] Unknown speaker: I thought that was all practice.

[1:51:47] Unknown speaker: No.

[1:51:48] Unknown speaker: Okay, here we go.

[1:51:49] Unknown speaker: From the top.

[1:51:50] Unknown speaker: With feeling.

[1:51:51] Unknown speaker: Testing, testing.

[1:51:52] Unknown speaker: What are you writing?

[1:51:54] Unknown speaker: Plotter is having a revenge party in Jorla.

[1:51:55] Unknown speaker: Plotter is having a revenge party in Jorla.

[1:51:56] Unknown speaker: Shut up, Antoine.

[1:51:57] Unknown speaker: So is that a yes?

[1:51:58] Unknown speaker: I'm using that one no matter what you do, so just keep it.

[1:51:59] Unknown speaker: Can you give me a noise for when he hits you?

[1:52:00] Unknown speaker: Sure.

[1:52:01] Unknown speaker: Yeah.

[1:52:02] Unknown speaker: Like an hour.

[1:52:03] Unknown speaker: Yeah.

[1:52:04] Unknown speaker: Yeah.

[1:52:05] Unknown speaker: Yeah.

[1:52:06] Unknown speaker: Yeah.

[1:52:07] Unknown speaker: Yeah.

[1:52:08] Unknown speaker: Yeah.

[1:52:09] Unknown speaker: Yeah.

[1:52:10] Unknown speaker: Yeah.

[1:52:11] Unknown speaker: Yeah.

[1:52:12] Unknown speaker: Yeah.

[1:52:13] Unknown speaker: Yeah.

[1:52:14] Unknown speaker: Yeah.

[1:52:15] Unknown speaker: Yeah.

[1:52:17] Unknown speaker: Yeah.

[1:52:18] Unknown speaker: Yeah.

[1:52:19] Unknown speaker: Yeah.

[1:52:20] Unknown speaker: Yeah.

[1:52:21] Unknown speaker: Yeah.

[1:52:22] Unknown speaker: Yeah.

[1:52:23] Unknown speaker: Yeah.

[1:52:24] Unknown speaker: Yeah.

[1:52:25] Unknown speaker: Yeah.

[1:52:26] Unknown speaker: Yeah.

[1:52:27] Unknown speaker: Yeah.

[1:52:30] Unknown speaker: Yeah.

[1:52:31] Unknown speaker: Yeah.

[1:52:32] Unknown speaker: Yeah.

[1:52:33] Unknown speaker: Right.

[1:52:34] Unknown speaker: But my nose isn't oh, I'll put the punch noise in like later.

[1:52:37] Unknown speaker: So you don't see the punch noise?

[1:52:38] Unknown speaker: Oh, so that saves me time.

[1:52:39] Unknown speaker: Okay, good.

[1:52:40] Unknown speaker: I want to punch you.

[1:52:44] Unknown speaker: Actually, I mean, I don't save on the budget, so I don't save on the budget.

[1:52:56] Unknown speaker: We can slap it.

[1:52:57] Unknown speaker: All right.

[1:52:58] Unknown speaker: Well, I mean, we're about to have have party.

[1:53:01] Unknown speaker: Oh, I didn't say have party.

[1:53:04] Unknown speaker: I'm sorry.

[1:53:05] Unknown speaker: All right.

[1:53:06] Unknown speaker: Here we go.

[1:53:07] Unknown speaker: Happy holidays.

[1:53:08] Unknown speaker: Mustard.

[1:53:09] Unknown speaker: Don't.

[1:53:10] Unknown speaker: Let's be silly.

[1:53:13] Unknown speaker: Edwin is the only thing I can do, by the way.

[1:53:15] Unknown speaker: It's the only impression I can do.

[1:53:17] Unknown speaker: If I ever get an SNL audition, it's just going to be Edwin ordering a chipotle burrito.

[1:53:22] Unknown speaker: Oh, my goodness, George.

[1:53:24] Unknown speaker: Why do I feel like I've swallowed a butterfly?

[1:53:26] Unknown speaker: Tickling inside makes me want to laugh.

[1:53:28] Unknown speaker: Oh, damn it.

[1:53:29] Unknown speaker: Oh, my goodness, George.

[1:53:30] Unknown speaker: Nope.

[1:53:31] Unknown speaker: Let me try that one more time.

[1:53:32] Unknown speaker: Only crazy for you.

[1:53:33] Unknown speaker: I'm with George failing.

[1:53:35] Unknown speaker: I've got one more line.

[1:53:36] Unknown speaker: Right, no.

[1:53:38] Unknown speaker: At the top.

[1:53:40] Unknown speaker: Oh, no.

[1:53:41] Unknown speaker: OK.

[1:53:42] Unknown speaker: No, I don't know.

[1:53:43] Unknown speaker: You can read the title if you want.

[1:53:44] Unknown speaker: I was going to read the title.

[1:53:45] Unknown speaker: Mary, answer the telephone.

[1:53:46] Unknown speaker: It's a broad wasted life.

[1:53:47] Unknown speaker: Screw you.

[1:53:48] Unknown speaker: It's at the top of the page.

[1:53:49] Unknown speaker: You're right.

[1:53:50] Unknown speaker: You're right.
