About

This interview is a rebroadcast from 2020. The Department of Justice recently closed the case of Emmett Till who was brutally murdered 66 years ago in August 1955. This episode features a conversation with Mayor Johnny Thomas of Glendora, Mississippi about Emmett Till. The Black Bayou Bridge is the infamous bridge where Emmett Till's body was disposed of and it is located in Glendora, MS. This bridge once connected the town of Glendora to every plantation north, south, east, and west of Glendora, MS and was considered the Las Vegas for the plantations surrounding the town, because its purpose at that time was to connect sharecroppers to Glendora, MS, so that they could go and relieve themselves of their harsh living conditions by venting their frustrations. The bridge has been designated as a historic structure, but lacks the designation civilly due to being the bridge where Emmett's body was dumped from into the Black Bayou. Mayor Thomas discusses the idea that his own father may have been forced to dispose of the body along with two other Black men also forced to help. Still no justice for Emmett Till and his remaining family member. Please listen to A Letter from Heaven to America From Emmett Till podcast and the interview with Deborah Watts.
