[0:00] Andrew: We've got a mission to find the best song that's ever been on Glee.

[0:09] Andrew: There's no rhyme or reason to it, so don't get mad at me.

[0:18] Andrew: Glacket by Glacket, we'll rank everyone to see which song will move closer to spot number one.

[0:26] Andrew: Gleek of the Week, Gleek, Gleek, Gleek of the Week, it's Gleek, Gleek of the Week.

[0:36] Andrew: Wow. Okay, I'm gonna start recording. Oh, sorry, I was just saying that I'm recording on my Audacity in case something gets corrupted here, so we have a backup plan. I didn't mean to interrupt your song. You can still do your song, Andrew.

[0:50] Andrew: Well, here's the song. Thank goodness.

[0:55] Andrew: Gleeky, Gleeky, Gleeky, Weeky, time for another episode of this podcast. Four years in, we're gonna find the best song on Glee and surprise it's from me. It's this song. This song wins. This song is now over. And the Glacket's over, that song won the Glacket. I have heard.

[1:36] Andrew: That should be the intro song. It's time to change it out. It's really like, jazzy. Yes, I was loving it.

[1:44] Ian: I really like it. Thank you.

[1:46] Andrew: All right, well, Ian, would you mind introducing Claudia and then Claudia, do you want to introduce Ian?

[1:51] Ian: I would love that so much. All right. We are joined by many-time guests of this podcast. Unholy Trinity Stan, audience favorite. Claudia, welcome to the pod. How are you feeling?

[2:08] Claudia: Oh my god, thank you so much. It's so good to be here after 45 minutes of technical difficulties, which is how it goes every single time. If you want to know how the sausage is made, it's always this. I need a Patreon so that people can help me buy a new laptop. But no, we always power through. Andrew's so supportive. Sorry, I should do my introduction.

[2:34] Ian: Oh yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, please. Sorry to step on your feet. Or were you gonna say something else?

[2:38] Claudia: No, I just love you so much.

[2:45] Ian: I love you so much. And entering the ring, the champion, the undisputed, indisputed? Undisputed? I think under.

[2:56] Claudia: Under, the undergoat, the undisputed goat. Host of RG Presents Buffy podcast. Is that the right?

[3:04] Ian: That's not it.

[3:05] Claudia: Close. Slay. Slay. Slay.

[3:20] Ian: That's kind of good. That's kind of good.

[3:29] Andrew: That just went kind of crazy. That was nuts. Hi, thanks for having us.

[3:36] Ian: Yeah. I'm so excited to be here. I'm really excited that you're both here as well. And also, we're gonna talk about Glee today. Most specifically, I know, The Glackett. It's been only just a few short weeks since you both have made appearances. And so I'm kind of scared to ask, do you have any opinions on The Glackett that in the meantime, things that have changed?

[4:02] Ian: Big time. I'm gonna throw it to you first.

[4:06] Claudia: That's a good idea, because Ian just said that big time he does.

[4:08] Ian: Okay, I'm gonna go to Ian first, though. And I was saying to you, Andrew, before we started recording, as we get further in The Glackett, and, you know, the kind of mid songs get weeded out, I feel like so many of these competitions, even if I don't agree with them, like, even if I would have voted a different way, I'm like, oh, but the song that it was up against also deserved to move forward. So I'm having softer and softer opinions about things. I'm agreeing, or at least not being upset about a lot more competitions.

[4:41] Ian: Looking at this, let's see. I like, maybe kind of agree with everything that has happened. Perfect score. I thought I was gonna go, boy is mine. And then listening to I know where I've been, I was like, and then maybe it is I know where I've been. I don't know. But what would it take for I know where to where I've been to leave? That question.

[4:58] Claudia: Oh, I actually the boys.

[5:05] Ian: There are numerous songs I really love. I know where I've been. I think it's an amazing performance by Alex Newell. I love what it is doing in the story. I love, you know, the representation and then what it means for beast and all of that stuff.

[5:23] Ian: Um, but it does not occupy the special place in my Glee cart. That stuff like river deep mountain high or faith or like, it feels I'm what will win my glacket will be something that is about the club and about these kids and their relationships with each other. And I love that number. And I'm, I personally don't take major umbrage with it beating out the boys mine. But it would not win my glacket because it feels very separated from the club.

[5:59] Andrew: Um, I'm gonna throw it to someone that maybe does take me major umbrage with this competition. Claudia, do you have major umbrage?

[6:07] Claudia: I have major umbrage. I'm also going to hold this microphone as a kind of text alert.

[6:15] Ian: Oh, what are they saying to them?

[6:24] Claudia: Major umbrage.

[6:25] Ian: She trusts so much. She's like, I'm not really worried. It's gonna bother you.

[6:30] Claudia: Anyway, I was just listening to our previous episode in where you also said you took umbrage with something and then we said something about taking Ulrich with something. I just kind of tickled me.

[6:45] Ian: Callback.

[6:48] Claudia: Umbridge and Ulrich. I yeah, I take Ulrich with this. Honestly, more hearing you say that just now because I'm just like, I think I have an opinion that's definitely different than you, Andrew and Patrick and Alyssa. I love them. I really enjoyed the episode. I love I loved everybody. They're wonderful. I love following groovy draws. I feel like I've been following her since before I was ever on the podcast, like when she first started.

[7:16] Ian: Oh, she's iconic.

[7:17] Claudia: So great. Oh yeah. Sorry. I'm all over the place. But just this concept of it being like a bottom tier San Sadie's number with like, no, like, that is just whatever, like sets the groundwork for River D mountain high. I kind of get that that second point. But for me, my personal feeling is boys mine is my like, favorite San Sadie's song. I think it's just like such a great use of their character and their chemistry as actors and as characters the way that they get to kind of really show off their like comedic chops, which is also true in River Deep. I think I just prefer the song at the end of the day.

[8:00] Claudia: But there's just way too much flippancy with sending her home. Like, even before we heard, I know where I've been, you guys were like, Yeah, I can probably go. And I, I think that's, like, actually messed up. Like, I think you should really think about what you've done. And I don't really know if other people are going to be as angry as I am. I'm not even angry. I'm just hurt. I'm hurt is what I am. And someone texted in to say, and I thought I turned it off. Actually, really good.

[8:30] Ian: Oh, wait, I said allow notifications. That is not what I wanted.

[8:38] Claudia: Anyway. Oh, yeah. That's the opposite of what I want.

[8:47] Ian: Yeah, I'm going insane already.

[8:48] Claudia: Yeah, I think I know where I've been is also a song that I probably forget about because season six is one that I rewatch the least. And the music, I feel like there's like a handful of songs from season six that are top of mind and the rest kind of just like, fall from my brain.

[9:07] Claudia: And while listening to the song and hearing you guys speak about it, I do I respect the decision to send it through. I really just take Ulrich with the smack you talked on boys mine. I really I have a problem with that. And I would not have made that decision. But it was it was all it was all you guys that that that was just crazy that it was unanimous and there was no fighting for her.

[9:32] Ian: I agree with that. It is weird to me that there was no no one was like having a hard time.

[9:38] Claudia: Yeah. Crazy. Like you said, even before the second song was pulled, everyone was like, so obviously boys mind. We're gonna get rid of this.

[9:47] Claudia: It hurts my feelings. I really I just I think it's insane. I literally the other day was listening to boys mind Glee cast version by Glee cast. And I was like, this could win my glock it depending on the day. I feel like usually I go for way more like, sentimental. Like, I don't know a lot of times like ballady ones or bigger groups, but it's just it sounds so good in my ears. I love those girls. It's representative of like some of my favorite parts of Glee, which is really just like those characters and seeing them sing and act and be funny. So I just miss her and I'm, I'm bummed.

[10:25] Claudia: I just like kind of want people to talk the same way about boys mine the way. No, I want people to talk about Dancing Queen, the way that they talk about.

[10:31] Ian: You said shut up.

[10:32] Claudia: Shut up. No, no. I'm not playing a game with you. It's fine. It's good.

[10:46] Ian: But it's like, it's not boys mine. They're not doing little funny.

[10:53] Claudia: No. I agree with that.

[10:56] Ian: Wait, what do you Who do you agree with?

[10:56] Claudia: Yeah, I agree with Claudia.

[10:58] Ian: Boy, boy is mine has a campiness. They're fighting you have the iconic had about enough. They're up in each other's faces. They get into a pushing fight. There's a lot going on.

[11:11] Claudia: It's symbolic of like, they're in their entry into like, kind of being more main characters.

[11:17] Ian: We focus on dancing, which is like another freaking prom number.

[11:21] Claudia: No, no, now we're gonna pull Dancing Queen in this episode. And then you guys are gonna be like, actually, let's fucking kill it.

[11:26] Ian: Let's Yeah, let's get rid of it right now.

[11:34] Claudia: I hope we do. I'm so glad that we're here together.

[11:41] Ian: Yeah. Hey, Claudia. I love you, girl.

[11:42] Claudia: Wait, what was a wicked part two, four, three good?

[11:50] Ian: Like that. I really enjoyed it was really, it was really good.

[11:56] Claudia: I actually any time that someone brings up anyone's like, Are you excited for wicked for good? I want to say wicked two, four, three good. That's not a joke. They know I can't be saying that on the street.

[12:02] Ian: It doesn't make any sense.

[12:06] Claudia: I also feel like the way it ended up in the title was not what I write. Like imagine when we say it literally texted you because I don't understand the joke.

[12:11] Ian: And I was like, Hey, just want to make sure is this the title? And you guys told me? Yes, this I just got permission.

[12:17] Claudia: No, I'm not saying like you misrepresented. I'm saying like I had a stroke. Like I literally don't know what happened.

[12:23] Ian: Like, I think it was that my thing was like, two, three, four. But that doesn't make sense. None of it makes sense. But it's great. I really enjoy it.

[12:34] Claudia: Like we get to four, four, four, three good.

[12:42] Ian: Wait, I think that makes sense. But I feel like that's, that's what sells it is the fact that the numbers are not order.

[12:47] Claudia: It's really good. But also in that episode, I feel like each of the three competitions were so iconic in their own right. Of course, we have for good versus one of us, which kind of I remember like was kind of like divisive. They were like kind of like on like the same like playing field. And like they were very close in the in the Instagram polls.

[13:17] Ian: Of course, we had the iconic rolloff of it's all coming back to me now versus Richard.

[13:23] Claudia: It was stressful listening to it again.

[13:25] Ian: I was crazy.

[13:26] Claudia: And then the only time that it's ever happened that we've had a rematch on the glack of it as of a song that was voted back.

[13:31] Ian: Take about versus Jesse's girl.

[13:39] Claudia: Yeah, this time around, finally went through. And so I just thought that was like a really iconic episode.

[13:47] Ian: Yeah. Your power combined that these really iconic competitions. I want to ask, besides killing Dancing Queen, what are we manifesting for?

[14:02] Claudia: I had a thought. Oh, I actually I wrote this down show tunes show tunes. I really liked that bit with Allison, mostly because I feel like this last time we recorded together, I got a lot of musical theater education from you both, but especially Ian was giving me a lot of things I didn't know about.

[14:21] Andrew: And I'm looking to be educated and to learn something new tonight, if nothing else, you know what I mean?

[14:26] Claudia: Yeah, on the showtube front, I'm like 95% sure this made it through, right?

[14:32] Ian: Maybe this time still in the glockenspiel.

[14:34] Claudia: Oh my gosh.

[14:34] Ian: Maybe this time is safe in round four.

[14:37] Andrew: Oh girl, take it out so that I can listen to it again.

[14:40] Claudia: Yeah, let's bring it back.

[14:41] Ian: I really, I don't know, like something about Cabaret recently, which is weird because I didn't like see it recently, I saw it like 10 months ago, but something about Cabaret recently has been speaking to me.

[14:52] Claudia: Well, that's gone.

[14:53] Ian: It's moved on.

[14:56] Andrew: I was like watching a video of like Tony nominations for next year, and someone brought up that it could very well be that Lea Michele and Kristin Chenoweth are competing against each other in the same category.

[15:12] Claudia: Which maybe this time heads, it's gonna be a big summer for y'all.

[15:16] Ian: Oh my gosh.

[15:17] Claudia: And they're probably missing it because that would be really normal, right?

[15:20] Ian: That they would sing that at the-

[15:22] Claudia: Oh, yeah.

[15:23] Ian: I think that they should.

[15:25] Claudia: It'd be weird if they did.

[15:26] Ian: In lieu of a performance of Chess or Queen of Versailles, they're actually both just gonna sing maybe this time the Glee version.

[15:33] Claudia: Yeah, that sounds really good.

[15:34] Ian: I love that Zoom also notified us that you were raising your hand to say that point.

[15:39] Claudia: And on my camera, on my computer screen, it also moved me all the way to the left.

[15:44] Ian: It moved you as well for me.

[15:46] Claudia: Yeah.

[15:48] Ian: Whoa, wait, now I'm back.

[15:49] Claudia: No!

[15:51] Ian: Darn it.

[15:53] Andrew: Okay, so-

[15:54] Claudia: I just also realized that my Zoom name is my roommate's name.

[15:57] Ian: Oh, I noticed that at the beginning.

[15:58] Claudia: My first thought was, oh, is Claudia like her middle name?

[16:02] Ian: And then I went, no, she openly said that's her roommate's computer.

[16:08] Claudia: That'd be a lot of C for me if there's the middle name.

[16:11] Ian: CCC.

[16:12] Claudia: A lot of C for me.

[16:14] Ian: A lot of C for me.

[16:15] Claudia: So, Killing Dancing Queen, maybe this time.

[16:19] Ian: I'm into a showtune, showtune, showtune, showtune.

[16:22] Claudia: Yeah, and I think also just a fair match, which it seems like we've been getting a lot of-

[16:26] Ian: Oh, I also literally forgot I was gonna start this off with positivity, Andrew, which was just that I've been really, really enjoying this round of the Glackett, of just bringing in personalities of some new, some old.

[16:41] Claudia: Just having a good chat, having fun.

[16:44] Andrew: I was just thinking about this because I remember when the podcast first started out, a lot of it was every episode would be someone you hadn't heard from before.

[16:53] Claudia: And now we're just seeing that the proof is in the pudding.

[16:56] Andrew: People are here for the Glackett.

[16:58] Claudia: The concept of the Glackett itself is just really holding its own.

[17:02] Ian: And it's so beautiful, and I love it.

[17:04] Claudia: And I just wanted to say that.

[17:05] Andrew: Oh, thank you.

[17:06] Claudia: It is really crazy listening to, and I never do this, but what I recall from very early episodes, that it's like, the Glackett is just kind of like an afterthought.

[17:16] Ian: Or it's just like, oh, this is just like a thing that we do, you know?

[17:20] Claudia: It's more like interviewee.

[17:22] Andrew: Right, yeah.

[17:23] Claudia: And the Glackett was just like kind of to guide the conversation.

[17:26] Ian: But now it's just like, oh, actually, we don't give a fuck about anything else.

[17:29] Claudia: Yeah, we're here to fight.

[17:31] Ian: Yeah, I love it.

[17:32] Claudia: I do want to manifest an even match, and maybe, I guess we only have two, but like, maybe one that's like a little bit iconic and crazy.

[17:41] Ian: Okay.

[17:41] Claudia: But I could also just have fun.

[17:43] Ian: We could also just laugh.

[17:44] Claudia: I like to manifest that we do three competitions, just for fun.

[17:47] Ian: Me too!

[17:48] Claudia: We fuck over your entire plan.

[17:51] Andrew: No!

[17:51] Claudia: The third one's for fun.

[17:53] Ian: The third one's for fun.

[17:55] Claudia: You pull two songs that aren't in round three.

[17:58] Ian: Okay.

[17:59] Claudia: We just redo them.

[18:01] Ian: Oh, okay.

[18:02] Claudia: It's just a fantasy.

[18:03] Ian: Yeah, it's just for fun.

[18:05] Claudia: So it's like silly love songs versus like Into the Groove.

[18:09] Ian: Yeah, yeah.

[18:12] Claudia: I don't, I don't want to, I don't want to see that.

[18:14] Ian: I don't want to see that.

[18:16] Claudia: Um, okay, we're ready for song number one.

[18:18] Ian: I don't want to see that.

[18:21] Claudia: Can we talk about how that's getting another season anyway?

[18:26] Ian: People, either you know or you don't.

[18:28] Claudia: Either you know or you don't.

[18:29] Ian: And if you know, you shouldn't know.

[18:30] Claudia: We're not even going to name what the other season is.

[18:33] Ian: Yeah.

[18:34] Claudia: No.

[18:35] Ian: After a long, note to self, after a long day of work, I don't want to see that.

[18:45] Claudia: I don't want to see that.

[18:48] Ian: Note to self, after a long day of work, I don't want to see that, that.

[18:53] Claudia: Um, this might be, after a long day of work, you don't want to see this.

[18:58] Ian: Oh god, I'm scared.

[19:01] Claudia: Um, it's, Ian, you were, you were here last round when it was pulled in your Recovering Gleek episode with Lena.

[19:10] Ian: Um, if you remember any of the winners from that episode.

[19:14] Claudia: I remember we did, um, the only one I remember that Lena and I got together was Smooth Criminal.

[19:22] Ian: I don't remember what the other two were.

[19:25] Claudia: Or actually like five, because I think Lena and I were on twice together.

[19:29] Ian: Yes, that's, yes, right at the beginning.

[19:31] Claudia: And then, um, just the three of us.

[19:34] Ian: Okay.

[19:35] Claudia: Yeah, okay.

[19:35] Ian: Is this going to be if I were a boy?

[19:37] Claudia: Um, no.

[19:39] Ian: Um, I feel like after a long day of work, you would want to see that.

[19:42] Claudia: That's, I would want to see that.

[19:45] Ian: Um, okay.

[19:47] Claudia: So this, okay, audio medium, we're looking at Jarly at the Lockers.

[19:51] Ian: Um, I mean, it's, it's not a Jarly at the Lockers, uh, number.

[19:57] Claudia: It's about to cut to the auditorium.

[20:00] Ian: Um.

[20:01] Claudia: Is it Applause?

[20:02] Ian: It's not Applause.

[20:04] Claudia: Applause, you got in your last episode, in the, in the Lena episode.

[20:10] Ian: Oh, this round?

[20:11] Claudia: Yes.

[20:12] Ian: See, because I was thinking of something.

[20:13] Claudia: Applause went home.

[20:15] Ian: Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah.

[20:16] Claudia: Um, okay, okay.

[20:17] Ian: What is something I don't want to see after a long day of work?

[20:20] Claudia: Ian, Claudia specifically.

[20:22] Ian: It's Rider.

[20:23] Claudia: It's going to be a Rider.

[20:24] Ian: It's not a Rider, but it's, okay.

[20:27] Claudia: Oh, Rider has a solo in this episode.

[20:31] Ian: There's only three songs in this episode.

[20:33] Claudia: Is this the, oh, okay.

[20:34] Ian: There are only three songs.

[20:35] Claudia: This is a scientist.

[20:37] Ian: And there's one.

[20:38] Claudia: I don't want to see that.

[20:39] Ian: Okay.

[20:40] Claudia: No, sorry.

[20:41] Ian: Okay, three songs in an episode.

[20:44] Claudia: One of them, one of them's a Rider song?

[20:47] Ian: One of them is a Rider song.

[20:49] Claudia: Um.

[20:49] Ian: Okay, so it's not, not, oh god.

[20:52] Claudia: Do we want to just reveal it for once?

[20:54] Ian: Maybe let's just get, let's just get into it.

[20:56] Claudia: Just for once in your life, just play it.

[20:59] Ian: It's more than words.

[21:01] Claudia: Oh, no.

[21:02] Ian: No, I do want to see that after a long day of work.

[21:06] Claudia: Okay.

[21:06] Ian: Um, can I start the discourse?

[21:09] Claudia: Yeah.

[21:11] Ian: I love this song so much that it's so, like, I'm sure that I said this every time that this has been pulled three times now on the Glackett, that, like, I just, I think the song is so beautiful.

[21:27] Claudia: The lyrics, I beg everyone listening right now to look at the lyrics and tell me that that is not the most, just, like, heartbreakingly beautiful lyrics that you've ever seen in your life.

[21:39] Ian: And then they give it to Britney and Sam, which is kind of just, like, trudigly fashion, I suppose.

[21:42] Claudia: That it's, like, of course, you know, they would, knowing them.

[21:49] Ian: Yeah.

[21:49] Claudia: But, um.

[21:51] Ian: Take Ulrich with that.

[21:52] Claudia: Yeah.

[21:53] Ian: I am so glad that you take Ulrich with this because my next note, my legal note, is about Robert Ulrich.

[22:01] Claudia: Oh, God.

[22:02] Ian: You're going to think that I'm joking.

[22:04] Claudia: And, Ian, you may know what the legal note is.

[22:06] Ian: Do you know what the legal note is?

[22:08] Claudia: Robert Ulrich, more than words connection.

[22:10] Ian: Oh, God, I'm scared.

[22:12] Claudia: No, no, I don't remember.

[22:12] Ian: You should be scared.

[22:15] Claudia: Okay, season two of the Glee Project, season two of the Glee Project, one of the homework assignments is, um.

[22:22] Ian: Oh, that's him.

[22:24] Claudia: That's Robert Ulrich.

[22:25] Ian: I swear to God, I turned off the text notifications, and then we get a Google password required.

[22:32] Claudia: I'm going to lose my shit.

[22:34] Ian: Um, Robert Ulrich in season two of the Glee Project, one of the homework assignments was more than words.

[22:40] Claudia: And, um, and he's like, hey, guys, um, you'll be singing more than words, uh, for, I don't know who the guest mentor was.

[22:49] Ian: But the guitarist from Xtreme will be accompanying you.

[22:53] Claudia: Also, fun fact about more than words is, this is the song that I lost my virginity to.

[22:57] Ian: No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no.

[23:02] Claudia: I swear to God.

[23:04] Ian: That is the worst thing I've ever heard.

[23:06] Claudia: It's going to be on television.

[23:07] Ian: He said that it's going to be on the carousel, but deep enough in the carousel.

[23:12] Claudia: Yeah.

[23:12] Ian: I would hope that Robert Ulrich, who does follow the account.

[23:15] Claudia: I'm going to tag him.

[23:15] Ian: I'm going to tag him and say, check out slide nine.

[23:18] Claudia: Hey, Robby.

[23:19] Ian: Hey, Robby.

[23:20] Claudia: Hey, Robby, check out, check out.

[23:23] Ian: Can you confirm or deny that that was probably to a room of minors?

[23:27] Claudia: They were all 18.

[23:28] Ian: They were all, but I don't, I don't know.

[23:32] Claudia: No, babe.

[23:32] Ian: No, babe.

[23:34] Claudia: No.

[23:35] Ian: That's disturbing.

[23:36] Claudia: Also, what?

[23:37] Ian: That's insane.

[23:38] Claudia: Take Ulrich for that.

[23:39] Ian: And don't worry, don't worry.

[23:40] Claudia: It was to the live guitar accompaniment by the guitarist from Xtreme.

[23:45] Ian: Yeah.

[23:46] Claudia: Hey, by the way, do you think that the, do you think that the guitarist from Xtreme was like,

[23:49] Ian: Oh, that's weird.

[23:53] Claudia: He already knew that.

[23:56] Ian: Cause he was there.

[23:57] Claudia: Cause he was, he said that he said, I lost my opportunity.

[24:02] Ian: Not to the MP3.

[24:03] Claudia: The guitarist from Xtreme was playing it.

[24:06] Ian: Yes, of course.

[24:09] Claudia: Night of nights.

[24:09] Ian: The guitarist from Xtreme took my virginity.

[24:16] Claudia: Hey, Andrew, you are too far.

[24:19] Ian: Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa.

[24:23] Claudia: Robbie Ulrich, check out about 25 minutes into this recording.

[24:28] Ian: Hear what you're being accused of.

[24:29] Claudia: There's some crazy stuff going on.

[24:30] Ian: Robert Ulrich, you can, you can have a laugh.

[24:32] Claudia: Robert Ulrich did listen to all of our Glee Project.

[24:35] Ian: He revealed after the fact that he would listen to all of our Glee Project season one recaps, which he was like, he thought they were funny.

[24:43] Claudia: And so like, we said a lot of shit.

[24:44] Ian: I don't want to listen back to it.

[24:46] Claudia: But you know.

[24:48] Ian: I wake up in a cold sweat at the thought of anyone involved with the production of Glee ever listening to my Glee podcast and the shit that we say about this show.

[24:54] Claudia: You know that they have to have a good.

[24:58] Ian: No, so much worse out there.

[25:01] Claudia: There's so much worse out there.

[25:03] Ian: You need to chill.

[25:06] Claudia: You don't need to worry about that.

[25:07] Ian: I can give you other nightmares if you need, if you need those.

[25:10] Claudia: Um, and the last thing I'll say is that I'm just like more than words.

[25:18] Ian: I just for again, for how beautiful it is for it to be sung by Bram.

[25:24] Claudia: And I was like watching this performance.

[25:26] Ian: I'm like, you know what?

[25:27] Claudia: Let me think of like a slow Britannia duet.

[25:29] Ian: Oh, wait.

[25:31] Claudia: Oh, wait, I can't.

[25:33] Ian: I can't because they didn't get one.

[25:35] Claudia: And so I'm just like this would have been I want to dance with somebody stripped down.

[25:41] Ian: No, no, don't rewrite history.

[25:45] Claudia: If you play it on point five, if you play it on point five, they're singing it slow.

[25:51] Ian: They're doing very beautiful interpretive dance.

[25:53] Claudia: And yeah, I have something to make that even worse.

[25:58] Ian: Because all I was thinking about with this performance is how similarly it sounds to the other stupid ass Bram.

[26:08] Claudia: Then I go and I hope that synced up.

[26:17] Ian: It's like the same kind of vibe.

[26:18] Claudia: But I don't even hate this one.

[26:22] Ian: But it's not really my turn to speak.

[26:23] Claudia: I just had to chime in on that one.

[26:25] Ian: No, it is your turn to speak.

[26:26] Claudia: And oh my god, my turn.

[26:28] Ian: Yeah.

[26:28] Claudia: Do you have more to say?

[26:29] Claudia: I do.

[26:30] Ian: I do have more to say.

[26:31] Claudia: I like this one for some reason.

[26:32] Ian: And it's funny that you would think that after a long day of work, I wouldn't want to see that.

[26:37] Claudia: Because that easy listening, you know, like what's up with that Bram easy listening genre that we have like those two songs?

[26:46] Ian: It's kind of weird.

[26:47] Claudia: It's like soothing.

[26:48] Ian: I like the way Heather's voice sounds.

[26:50] Claudia: And it's funny because you think it's a romantic Bram moment.

[26:54] Ian: But then it's like, no, I don't gaffe about you.

[26:57] Claudia: I'm talking to my cat.

[26:58] Ian: I'm talking to my cat.

[26:59] Claudia: And that's funny.

[27:01] Ian: Yeah, yeah.

[27:01] Claudia: It's cat.

[27:02] Ian: It's, it's the cat.

[27:04] Claudia: So I really enjoy that.

[27:07] Ian: That aspect of it.

[27:08] Claudia: And it's kind of funny and silly, but I'm really confused as to what it has beat in the past two rounds.

[27:15] Ian: Oh, that's a really great question.

[27:17] Claudia: Because it's like, okay, what's what's this?

[27:20] Ian: How did how did you get here?

[27:24] Claudia: Wait, Ian, do you have things to say as I look out?

[27:27] Ian: Well, I'm curious as to what I voted for, but I also don't remember what it was against.

[27:33] Claudia: I voted in this.

[27:35] Ian: Maybe I feel as if I didn't like it last round.

[27:39] Claudia: And I liked it this time.

[27:41] Ian: I thought it was fun and silly.

[27:43] Claudia: I agree with what Claudia said.

[27:45] Ian: I think it's fun that Britney is singing to Lord Tubbington and it becomes increasingly obvious as the song goes on.

[27:54] Claudia: And then she gets out of her chair and walks and everyone's confused.

[27:57] Ian: I just think it's silly and dumb and fun.

[28:02] Claudia: Wait, this is crazy.

[28:04] Ian: In round two in the episode with you and I and Lena, it won against.

[28:10] Claudia: Oh, I read this wrong.

[28:14] Ian: Razorglass season five.

[28:17] Claudia: Oh, I stand by that.

[28:18] Ian: Yeah, actually, I don't like that.

[28:21] Claudia: I agree.

[28:22] Ian: Wait, and so let me find what it won against in round one.

[28:29] Claudia: Then I go and spoil it all.

[28:31] Ian: Is that one in?

[28:32] Claudia: Oh, that all out of love in round one.

[28:36] Ian: I'm so lost without you.

[28:38] Claudia: Who sings that?

[28:39] Ian: That's I think that's.

[28:42] Claudia: That's uh the twins in season six and then I think I love the McCarthy twins and then I think also like a Jane feature at section what a bit invitational sorry I'm sorry um Jane and the McCarthy twins that's my OTP that's my OT3 I was gonna say okay we're what you're getting at and um I feel like that's disrespectful I love those three and I love all three of their voices.

[29:02] Ian: So this changes how you feel about the song "More Than Words"?

[29:08] Claudia: No, it doesn't really. I like probably would have gone with "All Out of Love," but I also out it would have been gone by now if I had gotten to this point in the bracket and I feel like sure, sure, sure it doesn't have the same funny points which is doing a lot for this one.

[29:25] Ian: Yeah, well I don't know what "All Out of Love" is. I believe uh Sue auditioning in them they know like it's like yes like the casting director, right?

[29:39] Claudia: I think they do three songs. They do three songs and "Father Figure" is the presidential elections, yes, and then one is the casting director and then the other one is just her like mitt Poland faces and I don't know which is which.

[29:54] Ian: And I guess there's no way of knowing.

[29:59] Claudia: There's literally no way of us finding this out.

[30:09] Ian: Let's look it up.

[30:10] Claudia: Yeah, wait her locker part two Glee I'm like it's on the tip of my tongue. I'm all out of love without you. Okay, it must have been love, it must have been love that was um that's uh Spencer and Kitty duet and that's also they're showing claim kiss in the elevator.

[30:28] Ian: That's funny when you said that I was like oh yeah I remember liking that one.

[30:30] Claudia: Spencer okay is probably the worst voice on the show.

[30:37] Ian: Oh hands down sorry baby.

[30:38] Claudia: "All Out of Love" is the casting director you are correct.

[30:43] Ian: Thank you, thank you.

[30:44] Claudia: Okay, okay awesome. Okay and I hope next we get so do we have anything else to say about "More Than Words"?

[30:52] Ian: Absolutely nothing else for me.

[30:53] Claudia: Not really, it's like it's pretty non-exceptional. Yeah, I think it's like good enough they both sound good on it it's silly enough to be entertaining but I'm not thinking about it if I'm not watching it.

[31:06] Ian: Definitely, it's really confusing to me how much Bram got in this season of just like and I remember watching it and like not being as infuriated as I am now probably because my brain wasn't fully developed but it's just like yeah what we didn't even get this for like this the one lesbian couple that is like so important to so many people that love this show like oh it's insane it's like it's really bad.

[31:33] Claudia: And I wasn't that bad too the fact that like it doesn't get like they get "Me Against the Music" of course the beginning of the season.

[31:48] Ian: They could slow that down as well.

[31:49] Claudia: Yeah um but like yeah hey Britney there you go I know you want to lose control come over here I got something to show you.

[32:08] Ian: That sounded really good to me.

[32:09] Claudia: That sounded really good in a round that was haunting that was harrowing. Um okay so we're ready for what "More Than Words" is against.

[32:16] Ian: Yeah okay honestly if it's "Crush" I do think "Crush" might win for no no his reaction no this is so dumb oh god put it back in pick a different one.

[32:34] Claudia: No give me it's all coming back to me now she's getting away with fucking murder oh god oh god I'm so scared.

[32:41] Ian: No is it "Love You Like a Love Song"?

[32:48] Claudia: I'm over her I think that she's like fine okay audio medium we're looking at Rachel smiling at someone and they're in the auditorium she's a sidebar uh it is do you want the season it's certainly four or five it's five okay um they're about is this lose my breath go no no they're about to go that's six I've noticed um they're about to go to the choir room oh my gosh and it's five and you hate it in New Directions.

[33:17] Ian: It's a New Directions okay oh my gosh is this her and Santana's this "Be Okay"?

[33:23] Claudia: It's "Be Okay."

[33:28] Ian: Oh god I literally hate this one.

[33:29] Claudia: Kill me put them both back get them both out we can bring back "It's All Coming Back to Me Now."

[33:34] Ian: Seriously this sucks um girl I just think that like we just had you both had such a great streak in the last episode that you guys we all did together like just iconic competitions except this this competition this is karma coming for us.

[34:00] Claudia: Did you see what I saw at the end them hugging but their bodies weren't touching at all and they broke away as fast as possible and leaned separate but their arms are still around each other because they were directed to be that way.

[34:08] Ian: Yes but no what I saw was quick like low-key like not actually grinding on each other but it was like Diana in front of Puck.

[34:18] Claudia: Yes those are the right names Diana and Puck and Puck like doing a weird dance that did not need to be done to "Be Okay."

[34:34] Ian: Um who had less chemistry Quinn and Puck or Santana and Rachel?

[34:45] Claudia: I do I do think it's tension is helpable I was almost like I want this is an opposite of like someone someone needs to take away their like SAG cards like they are not doing a good job like I was there is I think maybe like one time in the entire song where they maintain eye contact for more than a second and a half.

[35:06] Ian: I thought the same thing it's consistently one will look at the other and then as soon as she looks away then the other will look at her going out of their way to not have to make eye contact with each other it is uncomfortable.

[35:26] Claudia: One moment toward the beginning that like Naya chooses to do something that like you can see first but second like Leah is like oh what is that what do you think what was that choice?

[35:36] Ian: What about when I swear to god Naya is making fun of Leah doing she's like a like does a weird little dance move and the night is the same one.

[35:48] Claudia: Yeah the little hand thing it's very clearly not like an organic move.

[35:51] Ian: No crazy I know that was so oh can we come back can we but I think can we be honest maybe this is just me I like it's still like a good song right they sound they sound good on it but do you ever choose to stream this?

[36:09] Claudia: No I've never I'm not kidding I've never streamed it ever.

[36:14] Ian: No oh I have no it kind of did take up a lot of space for me in 2014 I did like it a lot I'll I'll I'll say it I'll say on another end that when I did my when I had my Pretty Little Liars fan account that then delved into multi-fandom content and I put my I made a collage of my favorite friendships on TV one of them was Santana and Rachel for some reason and I used a still from the song so there's that.

[36:37] Claudia: No yeah yeah no right exactly yeah and I also just want to bring up um what songs of course this took out to be where it is today and uh the lesser of two evils being um what it be in round two which was "Highway to Hell."

[37:05] Ian: That's okay I'm a little against that but I also understand that that song is literally like 30 seconds it's really short and like that's we need to be honest but I think that like the reason that we're being kind of like punished by "Be Okay" is because of like what it took out in round one.

[37:15] Claudia: I'm worried any Black at Glastoreans remember what it took out and Black at Black at round one hey everybody if you want to guess pause right here I'll just tell you this was an episode 10 of the podcast where it beat who was the guest it was me Allison, Matt, and Amon so this was Matt and Amon debut it and uh and it won against "Loser Like Me" season two.

[37:47] Ian: Wow wow that's crazy a little crazy that is great wait what do they stand on that I don't think maybe I need to ask them actually be like hey this you.

[38:07] Claudia: Um I think that we were just like kind of like I don't know I don't know how the conversation went but like it's crazy I I think I was just like kind of like a stick up my ass about like "Loser Like Me" season two that I was like let's get rid of it they got all the part we've done.

[38:23] Ian: Yeah yeah and I "Loser Like Me" I think is um kind of a bad song but that is part of the charm and what makes it so iconic is that it's a little bit bad but I also have gone through phases where I do not give it the credit it's due because I'm just like I hate this song I'm gonna give it to these two girls who clearly hate each other and won't make eye contact.

[39:01] Claudia: Yeah even that's better than than "Loser Like Me" I can't believe I don't watch we you've had to watch that three times in the context of this that's really horrible we apologize it's so hard to watch.

[39:08] Ian: Thank you for admiring my valiant effort um hero I'm like really kind of like confused on like what I'm going to do here I know what I'm okay not to be absolutely insane um how why is your window so bright me we are across a river from each other and it is dark outside my window right now it looks like it's noon where I was telling you before I was telling you before the recording started this usually isn't the case I don't think that like um the window washers came today and they cleaned outside the window and they just like it really give you your own personal sun.

[39:47] Claudia: I think so and they were like I don't I'm afraid that moving my camera is going to disconnect my microphone so that happens I apologize look out my window it's not that dark here do you see my that's the window in the reflection of the mirror and it's also kind of bright but it doesn't look as bright.

[40:04] Ian: No that can't be right.

[40:09] Claudia: Iain okay what I'm not telling you is that that window faces a wall.

[40:18] Ian: But yeah yeah okay I can tell but am I but also there still you know is a sun usually you can see the bricks through that wall.

[40:23] Claudia: Um what direction is your window are your windows facing so are they facing west?

[40:30] Ian: Oh god don't do this to me I'm facing east so if you're facing the river it's east if you're facing away from the river it's west.

[40:35] Claudia: Andrew I'm okay it's it's facing toward the river east.

[40:42] Ian: What my window is also I don't I don't understand that at all.

[40:48] Claudia: I guess I'm not really part of this.

[40:49] Ian: No you I was actually going to ask you next genuinely you were next you're next you're next.

[40:54] Claudia: I don't know that would just sorry it looks like we're in different time zones and we are all in the same city even we are.

[41:05] Ian: Yeah we are in fact in walking distance nearly of each other.

[41:12] Claudia: Yeah we should have done this live in front of the audience meet up come on come on.

[41:17] Ian: I have one other thing to say about "Be Okay" which is when you pulled "Brave" in the last episode I literally was like oh god because I thought it would be "Okay" and then "Brave" started playing and then I was like oh wait I like this one.

[41:22] Claudia: Oh yeah really annoying oh I miss "Brave" after watching this let's bring her back let's kick both these songs out and let's bring back "Brave."

[41:36] Ian: I think this should be one of the lifelines you can do is if both songs suck.

[41:41] Claudia: No Instagram when you start doing that then it gets all crazy we need to make a decision.

[41:48] Ian: God we need to make a decision right now.

[41:53] Claudia: Fine fine we can and I'm ready I do I think I'm ready too.

[41:57] Ian: Yeah me too okay Claudia do you want to go first?

[42:00] Claudia: Yeah this is what you've pushed me to I'm voting for "More Than Words."

[42:07] Ian: You get that because I can't do I don't want to see this again "More Than Words" at least made me chuckle.

[42:13] Claudia: Yes um okay Brittany's my girl I want to have her voice whenever possible um I don't think people are gonna be that mad like does anybody think you know it's just like I just don't care watch the mp4 watch the mp4 yeah it's just no it's not worth it more I want to know like where the Instagram Gleeks will yeah because they are a specific breed yeah where what what are they gonna like more and I guess time will tell we will find out.

[42:36] Ian: I just want to add in there that it's like the fact that you know it's oh but it's Rachel and Santana and they're like there are eight girls maybe that will carry for people but for me it's like the opposite it's like we got we got them yeah we got much better from them and I like I like the voice of Heather Morris sue me.

[43:03] Claudia: Okay. No, she does sound really beautiful and we didn't really spend enough time talking about that.

[43:06] Ian: No, she sounds so good. She sounds glorious. Glorious, the word that I'm using now. I like that.

[43:15] Claudia: Why did I use the word glorious? It came out so smooth and then you kind of second-guessed it.

[43:21] Ian: She sounds glorious. No, she does. And it sounds like a Glee-inspired word too. Yeah. Glee-orious.

[43:28] Claudia: I don't like that. Yeah. I'm voting more than words. B.O.K. I think is a great mp3 but like, girl, it's bad. It's bad. The video is bad. It's so tense.

[43:35] Ian: I agree with everything you said. More than words at least made me hee-hee-ha-ha a little bit. It's gonna win the glockenspiel.

[43:42] Claudia: I think it has the juice! I just remember when Kevin and Jenna were talking about B.O.K. they were just like, they do this thing where they when they want to make fun of Lea Michele for things but they don't want to like outwardly like have an mp3 of them doing it. They just like, I remember them specifically talking about B.O.K. and they were like, the spray tan was really crazy.

[44:04] Ian: I know. I know that everyone sitting in that choir room was sweating during that number. Especially the newbies. Blake Jenner is dancing his heart out.

[44:19] Claudia: Blake Jenner doing a really weird move. You really push this man into a corner where it's like, yeah, you're kind of restricting his options. He's really nervous. It's like hand on the, one hand on his chest and then the other hand just like kind of like waving around.

[44:27] Ian: This is the best you can get out of him. Also, remind me, is Kurt like going through something in this episode?

[44:51] Claudia: Probably. No. I mean, like, him and Mercedes are trying to like, get them back together.

[44:56] Ian: Oh yeah. Because he is, Chris Colfer is watching this number, arms crossed, and he looks irritated.

[45:05] Claudia: Yeah. And I was wondering if it was like, oh, like Kurt's going through something I forgot about. But you saying that, no, I think he genuinely just like, was uncomfortable and over having to watch this.

[45:15] Ian: I was gonna say that's annoying. Like, least favorite plot in the show is other main characters have to build or put Rachel Berry's life back together. Like that is every time we get that. And when it's always fucking Mercedes, especially like literally nothing irritates me more.

[45:33] Claudia: It's very annoying. Yeah. So I don't want to see that. After a long day of work. I do not want to see that.

[45:58] Ian: Oh, I think yeah. Anyone know what that is? Anybody? No one will. Number two. Okay, here we go. Let's see. Please. If this is a bad one, you have to put it back. If it's a bad one. Yeah, just pretend. No, this is a fun one. Okay. An hour in. And I'm scared for her.

[46:14] Claudia: Oh, no. Okay. Feverish.

[46:26] Ian: Here we go. And you're gonna know what it is. Boom, boom, boom. Audio medium.

[46:32] Claudia: I know what it is. Run, Joey, run.

[46:35] Ian: Is it run, Joey, run? I thought it is run, Joey, run. Wait, what did you think it was?

[46:39] Claudia: I forgot that run, Joey, run had such amazing fog effects. I'm gonna be honest. Yeah. Well, first I thought Mama Mia. And then I said that literally just got pulled. And then my next thought was wishing and hoping.

[46:48] Ian: Oh, yeah, I would rather of the three, I would rather be talking about run, Joey, run. So it's your lucky day. Here we go.

[47:03] Claudia: Ending with a fin fin. I just remembered that there was like a YouTube. Like this on YouTube. One of the top comments was, um, if she was deciding between the three guys, why does it end with one of them? Like, yeah, like, I'm just like, No, yeah. Oh, we're we're really losing. We're really losing the text here.

[47:30] Ian: Well, let me tell you, we're really losing our foreign languages. Dead language now dead language. My age reveal is I was like, probably nine years old when this came out. And I remember just thinking that it was a double entendre. And like, oh, because it's been and also, like, I knew that it wasn't how you spell his name. And I was like, wait, I did that on purpose. Because that's our leading man.

[47:49] Claudia: Um, who wants to start discourse here? Run, Joey, run.

[47:53] Ian: Um, this. I'm not kidding, is one of the great Glee numbers. Yeah, I love this number so much. And this is genuinely if I meet someone who like does not like run, Joey, run, I'm not saying like, it's not their favorite. Like, it's not their favorite number. But if like, someone just straight up doesn't like it. I'm like, okay, so we actually have are diametrically opposed about what we like about this show.

[48:20] Claudia: I know someone. I know a couple. I know someone specifically that doesn't like this number. And maybe she's the lead vocalist of this song.

[48:30] Ian: Oh, I don't care about that. Okay, that was like, we all know we're diametrically different. Yeah. That was like you and Jenna and Kevin on their podcast were like people like this. And I was like, it actually is not shocking to me that the people that were making this show don't really understand what was great about it all the time.

[48:45] Claudia: Yeah. Hey, no, I'm fully it is. I Andrew, you and I have had this conversation that Lea Michele is a very funny actor, but she's not a funny person.

[49:05] Ian: And I say unfortunate that the divide. Yeah. Andrew and I went and saw Lea Michele in concert reveal talented what a voice. She is just not funny. She just like she can be like written funny.

[49:22] Claudia: Yeah, funny. The time and time again, we're we're given proof of that.

[49:27] Ian: Yeah. And like, she can be if she's working with the right director, the director in the writing, they can get an amazing comedic performance out of her as evidenced by this number where she is hysterical. And yet when I see interviews with her, or when I see her in person, I'm like, did you get why it was funny? Or were you just doing what you were told? Because it's insane that you are so good at that performance and that style of comedy. Yeah. And that you don't seem to understand it. It's so wild.

[50:02] Claudia: I like literally, I, I will I don't think I'll ever understand the divide. It's so insane to me. Just a talented actor.

[50:10] Ian: Yeah, she gets her she gets her SAG card back for this one. I was thinking you're on probation. We're watching you.

[50:18] Claudia: This. There were so many looks in this where I was like, she's up for her role in Scream Queens. I see Esther in in that girl. Absolutely. Wait, what's Hester's last name again?

[50:31] Ian: Hester? I got it wrong last time. I think I said Jenkins and I was wrong.

[50:35] Claudia: Um, no, I'm pretty sure it's Hester Ulrich.

[50:38] Ian: No.

[50:57] Claudia: That was good. That was good.

[51:00] Ian: After a long day of work, I don't want to Ulrich that.

[51:07] Claudia: Ulrich with that.

[51:13] Ian: Hester was early in the process here. Yeah, I was pregnant with Hester Ulrich.

[51:16] Claudia: That's a horrible, horrible name.

[51:25] Ian: Um, I just think that like the iMovie effects are every single time the star fade. So perfect. I think that like specifically the one that really does it for me is the one in like anybody that's ever used any video editing software knows this transition where it like takes like a middle of the video and then zooms out but it's never the part of the video that you want to focus on.

[51:47] Claudia: And it's just like so it's like in Run, Joey, Run it's like the lips like it's like half of Puck's mouth yeah and it's like okay it's like it sounds like a good idea of a transition but then in execution it looks terrible. It's so funny.

[52:08] Ian: It's also a kaleidoscope.

[52:15] Claudia: Yeah. Yes. Yes. It like zooms in on a half of Puck's mouth. Oh yeah. Turns it into like a weird beige kaleidoscope. Oh it's so good. I know the editors had so much fun with this.

[52:23] Ian: Oh my god. Yeah. So good. I also want to shout out that I feel like Puck's kind of like I don't know what it is. I really like his vocals in this and I agree. I think like Jesse is like the worst of the three in this. Have you done this? Have you done the ranking?

[52:37] Claudia: Oh that's an interesting assignment. I'm having deja vu like I feel like maybe you've done this before but I was just thinking about that because I also feel like this is just I forget about this as a song. I always remember the mp4 like I always remember this being a moment my my best friend Zoe who got me my unholy trinity shirt of much of much fame and notoriety. She always like we watch this together on on the tv and like she she loves this one so I I always think of it as like a funny meme but it's like I don't know I kind of like hearing those those boys voices they did they did a pretty good job.

[53:20] Ian: Yeah I I mean no ranking is like really standing out to me. Ian do you have a ranking of the three?

[53:24] Claudia: Um I don't know if I have a ranking of just their vocals but I do have a ranking of like the whole performance.

[53:28] Ian: That's what I mean. And I think it's Puck one Finn two Jesse three specifically because and I think it is true to Jesse as a character that he is like very confident and very talented but Jesse is isn't a bad enough actor.

[53:41] Claudia: Yeah.

[53:42] Ian: And Finn looks very like uncomfortable and out of place the whole time which I think is hilarious.

[53:49] Claudia: Yeah. And then Puck thinks he's nailing it but is doing a monumentally bad job.

[53:54] Ian: Yes. There was a moment yeah like unfortunately sometimes Puck is hilarious and there there's some very strong acting choices and then this one but the one that really stood out to me is after he's on the phone with Julie and he finishes his line he then does this random take where he's like trying to catch his breath but like he was sitting on his bed and just like answered the phone and he's just going and it's so dumb and so funny. It's so good. It's perfect. It's very good.

[54:34] Claudia: Yeah. I think I agree.

[54:34] Ian: Um. Finn does great work of course. This is like.

[54:41] Claudia: Yeah.

[54:41] Ian: Oh. No Cory Monteith is he like master class in teenager who feels very uncomfortable and doesn't fully understand what's going on but is going on with it going along with it. He just goes for it.

[54:50] Claudia: Yeah. He looked up his hands were red.

[54:54] Ian: His hands were red. I love that it's so clearly ketchup on his hands. It's so good.

[54:59] Claudia: I'm a big fan. Oh my god. You can taste it. And like the consistency is all weird.

[55:05] Ian: Oh yeah. It's so good. Everything just like it just like feels like fully like realized as like a high school project like like just like the the fog everything and also we're not even bringing up the the Stephen Toblowski the the shimmying with the shotgun of course.

[55:29] Claudia: Oh my god. Yeah. Oh it's really good.

[55:34] Ian: So whose fog machine do you think this is? Because they got fog down those hallways.

[55:39] Claudia: They got a fog in Sandy's front yard.

[55:41] Ian: I think well she does like mention that the AV club assisted.

[55:44] Claudia: Why does the AV club have fog machines though?

[55:49] Ian: Hmm. I wouldn't put it past like the Berry household having a fog machine.

[55:49] Claudia: Agree. Agree. For their for their Oscar parties I'm sure.

[55:57] Ian: For their Oscar party of course. Yeah.

[56:07] Claudia: Um and then also we need to you know call that Chevrolet ad.

[56:10] Ian: Oh that that happened. I don't know what I want to say about that. Are you talking about the car in this video? Or are you talking about See the USA in your Chevrolet?

[56:16] Claudia: I'm talking about like Glee's um attachment to Chevrolet. Product placement.

[56:20] Ian: Um well obviously they had they had a Super Bowl commercial. They had to put it in there.

[56:25] Claudia: Of course. This is their favorite car. It's just like the mattresses.

[56:29] Ian: I don't know what anyone's gonna say about that actually. This is a soft launch of the of the See the USA in the Chevrolet.

[56:39] Claudia: Yeah.

[56:44] Ian: Um when it comes to this performance I'm scared for her.

[56:44] Claudia: How are you feeling about going into this competition seeing what it will be against?

[56:53] Ian: I really I frankly I'm thrilled because either this song will get its dessert spot in round four or we will get an absolute banger song and have a really exciting competition. So it's kind of

[56:58] Claudia: yeah I agree with that because when you said I'm nervous for her I as soon as we saw what it was I was like I'm not but also I don't want a boring competition. So like

[57:10] Ian: yeah yeah I either want her to be safe or I want something really really good and interesting. So yeah this number like this is pretty upper echelon for me. It will take out a lot of songs that are still in. Would we be happy with

[58:24] Claudia: Run, Joey, Run and this song. We're in the same episode in round one together, not against each other, of course. But it is...

[58:31] Ian: It's a bummer.

[58:35] Claudia: Hand in my pocket. I feel the earth move.

[58:39] Ian: Oh, that is very tragic.

[58:43] Claudia: Okay, perfect song lyric. Okay, take back everything I said. This is a major bummer.

[58:47] Ian: I'm upset.

[58:48] Claudia: This is fun.

[58:49] Ian: Yeah, this freaking sucks.

[58:50] Claudia: This is not fun.

[58:51] Ian: Yeah, actually suck.

[58:51] Claudia: Can we redo this whole...

[58:53] Ian: My microphone and camera wasn't working this whole time. Can we redo this episode?

[58:57] Claudia: Yeah, nevermind. Major bummer. Major bummer alert.

[59:01] Ian: I'm upset.

[59:02] Claudia: It was... I...

[59:06] Ian: Naya's so good at doing Atlantis.

[59:08] Claudia: Why didn't we get...

[59:10] Ian: You Oughta Know,

[59:16] Claudia: All of Them, Ironic.

[59:17] Ian: It's just like upsetting because her voice is so...

[59:19] Claudia: Head Over Feet.

[59:22] Ian: Everything. Just give her the whole album.

[59:26] Claudia: And Heather sounds so good too.

[59:28] Ian: She sounds so good.

[59:29] Claudia: She sounds glorious again.

[59:30] Ian: She sounds totally glorious.

[59:32] Claudia: I think I sometimes in my secret thought on this song is that it is not as good of a blending of two songs as I want it to be. But then maybe that's the MP3 somewhere in my sick brain thinks that. Because watching that and hearing that, I'm like, it's so satisfying. It's so perfect. It's so crisp. I think part of it's also their little dancing with all of it. Like flicking a cigarette, handling a taxi cab. Love it. It's just perfect.

[1:00:00] Ian: Like this is like actually way harder than it should be. And I'm upset.

[1:00:04] Claudia: I do know my decision between these two songs.

[1:00:09] Ian: Okay, well, let's not be rash.

[1:00:12] Claudia: I'm sorry to say. I do think I know your decision as well.

[1:00:17] Ian: Go ahead.

[1:00:19] Claudia: But I think we should...

[1:00:20] Ian: I don't know my decision.

[1:00:21] Claudia: I'm just like, why is our foot on the gas?

[1:00:25] Ian: No, no, no, no. One of these songs is going away.

[1:00:30] Claudia: Well, these songs are incredible. And this is not as fun and exciting as I had hoped it would be.

[1:00:39] Ian: Run Joey Run is campy and silly and stupid. And this number is like very charming and very earnest and very sweet. And I love Santana getting down on one knee and reaching in her to her pocket to pull out a ring. And then Brittany getting down on one knee because she's not aware of what's going on. It's so good. It's such a beautiful, sincere moment. It's like, I don't know, maybe the best fraternal duet on the show.

[1:01:12] Claudia: Oh, I would say.

[1:01:13] Ian: Yeah, I mean, we have the four. Are we ready to list them?

[1:01:17] Claudia: We got Me Against the Music. We got I Want to Dance with Somebody.

[1:01:20] Ian: Oh, I want to dance with somebody. We got Valerie Season 5. And we got this.

[1:01:25] Claudia: Yeah, no, it probably is. Me Against the Music, I would say, is the only other one that I'm like, might be the best.

[1:01:31] Ian: I'm in a bad mood now.

[1:01:36] Claudia: I'm in a bad mood.

[1:01:37] Ian: Why do we only get four?

[1:01:39] Claudia: Um, when they, okay, so I remember distinctly, they went into production of season six, very early on. And okay, so they went, it was like 2014, the fall, but we didn't get this episode until January. And so I knew that they, Britannia would be singing this song from like September until January. And I think still to this day, I feel the Earth Move and Hand in My Pocket are the top two most played songs in my library. Because I was getting amped.

[1:02:15] Ian: You're getting ready.

[1:02:16] Claudia: You're ready. You're studying, studying the scriptures.

[1:02:19] Ian: I was studying. I was like, okay, I want to see what they do. I want to see what they do. Maybe they'll take this piece. Or maybe they can take this part. Let me listen to it one more time. Let me just check. Let me just check. See how that works. Okay, okay. All right. That sounds good.

[1:02:30] Claudia: And they made the right choices to me.

[1:02:34] Ian: To me as well. I don't know what past hater creature living in my brain.

[1:02:39] Claudia: No, but I've heard this opinion before. That like people are like, I've heard this opinion from me on my podcast, I think.

[1:02:45] Ian: Oh, oh, I don't really.

[1:02:47] Claudia: I remember correctly. I said that this felt like, the analogy I use sometimes for mashups is that it's like two cars and one keeps pulling over on the side of the highway. So the other one can start driving. And then that one pulls over and that one starts driving. But listening to it since I like don't super agree. I think it's doing a better job at melding the two songs than I thought at that time. You know, it was nearly two years ago that I covered this episode. Actually, I think it was it was over two years ago that I covered this episode. So I've grown and I've learned.

[1:03:24] Ian: Totally.

[1:03:24] Claudia: And what it all comes down to is everything's gonna be fine, fine, fine.

[1:03:27] Ian: It's not.

[1:03:27] Claudia: It will be fine, fine, fine.

[1:03:28] Ian: No.

[1:03:29] Claudia: Um.

[1:03:32] Ian: Oh, I know that people online. I looked at a note that I wrote down during this performance. People online have brought attention to Dance Moms, a series that I have not watched, that one of the women on Dance Moms is wearing the dress that Santana is wearing in this performance. And so now every time that I watch this performance, I'm thinking about Dance Moms.

[1:03:54] Claudia: Right. Again, a show that I have never watched.

[1:03:57] Ian: Never seen it.

[1:03:59] Claudia: Never seen it.

[1:04:00] Ian: I don't think AI is good. But if I have-

[1:04:05] Claudia: Uh oh. Here we go.

[1:04:06] Ian: No consequences of using AI. I would generate all the episodes of Glee between season from four to six, where Santana gets to wear clothes that aren't JCPenney work dresses, two sizes too small. Just have her wear anything else. Not because I hate it, but I just want to know. I just want to know what that would be like. Because it's really weird that that is what we think. I just feel like she'd have more style than that. Like, I just feel like she'd be putting together more interesting fits than like whatever patterned bodycon dressing primary color with a pattern you can get off the rack. Again, two sizes too small. She looks fabulous. She looks fantastic. But I'm just like, this doesn't tell me much about-

[1:05:00] Claudia: This doesn't tell me about her character in the way that an egg and bacon t-shirt and floral skirt high pony bang woman does, you know? Which I've also come to learn this Britney outfit is also divisive for some reason. I love it.

[1:05:15] Ian: I think it's bad, but I love it.

[1:05:18] Claudia: And was also worn by one of the moms in Dance Mom. Actually, one of the kids.

[1:05:22] Ian: The exact outfit.

[1:05:23] Claudia: Yeah, it was Abby Lee.

[1:05:26] Ian: Right.

[1:05:26] Claudia: Oh, Abby Lee wore the eggs and bacon shirt.

[1:05:29] Ian: Yes.

[1:05:30] Claudia: I've never seen the show, but I do remember that.

[1:05:35] Ian: No.

[1:05:37] Claudia: No, I just freaking love this song so much. I'm obsessed. It's unfortunate that this matchup is happening.

[1:05:44] Ian: But I think this is what we get after a really lousy competition from the first.

[1:05:50] Claudia: Yeah.

[1:05:51] Ian: I have a bright idea. You edit this so that you splice the different song, different competition.

[1:06:00] Claudia: Okay.

[1:06:00] Ian: So I do think that One Hand in My Pocket should be it more than words. I feel like that's obvious. So my vote is for-

[1:06:10] Claudia: And then we're all on the same page that Run, Jane, Run is better than Be Okay, right?

[1:06:14] Ian: No, well, of course.

[1:06:15] Claudia: But of course.

[1:06:16] Ian: Of course.

[1:06:16] Claudia: Yeah.

[1:06:19] Ian: I don't want to vote yet.

[1:06:23] Claudia: Are we voting yet?

[1:06:24] Ian: I have something to say. I do feel like I know the way that this is going. I think I know how both of you are voting.

[1:06:29] Claudia: I don't know.

[1:06:30] Ian: I don't really know yet. Because what I was going to say is that Run, Jane, Run is so good and representative of all of the best parts of Glee, especially in the beginning. Get a lot of characters, a lot of voices. You get the funny, the silly, the theatrical. But then like, so that's like just kind of the sum of everything versus the single most important part of the show to me, which is this couple. So it's like, I don't know. Because then you have like, I'm in a bad mood because I'm like, I can't believe we have in the show, not even the glockette, we have four of these moments.

[1:07:15] Claudia: Yeah, it's crazy.

[1:07:16] Ian: It's so like, it makes me sick.

[1:07:19] Claudia: It makes me sick. And it's just upsetting. And I just love them so much. And watching, even just watching that, which is like so happy and fun. Like, it just makes me like, it hurts me. Like, it hurts my heart. Like, they deserve so much better. I love them so much. And they mean everything to me. And I don't want to get actually emotional about anything real. But like, they mean everything to me. And I don't know what I would do without them. And I'm very upset.

[1:07:48] Ian: Anyway.

[1:07:48] Claudia: No, this friggin sucks. I'm in a bad mood.

[1:07:51] Ian: Yeah, I hate it.

[1:07:52] Claudia: Um, but I will say, I'll throw that verse that first vote.

[1:07:58] Ian: Yeah, I know.

[1:08:00] Claudia: I know. It's gonna be hand in my pocket. I feel the earth move from me. And I'll throw, I'll throw my vote. And then I'll say a bunch of stuff about this song because I'm sure it's going home. I love both these songs. Frankly, I'm thrilled to have the other song go through. I think they both are fantastic. And they both are very worthy of round four.

[1:08:25] Ian: What I'm voting for Run Joey Run, and I am very happy if one hand in my pocket goes through. I just like this number is so I'm talking about Run Joey Run. It is one of the parts of Glee where it's like, you could only make something this specific and this accurate. If you were this kid, like this is how you know this is a show about theater kids. Because this number is such an accurate and steaming takedown of how corny and melodramatic theater kids are and what they think being cool and sexy is. And I'm obsessed with the fact that Rachel somehow convinced Britannia to be in it, even though they both hate her guts. It's like, oh, we can be the sexy angels. Like, yeah, sure. I'd love to be a sexy angel. That's hilarious to me.

[1:09:20] Claudia: I'm obsessed with at the beginning, Rachel is doing so like one of my favorite things about this show is that Rachel Berry is a fantastic vocalist, and she is a piss poor actor. I think that's hilarious. Her doing way too much with her arms during the song. She's walking down the hall. Like every second people out of the way.

[1:09:39] Ian: Yeah.

[1:09:40] Claudia: Well, not even that when she's alone in the hall. Yeah, she's like, oh, I'm acting like crazy. There's a moment where she like raises her hands like she's a preacher giving a sermon. It's so funny. It's so ridiculous. Of course, the iconic her against the lockers. Kids keep walking in front of her and she tries to shove past them. All of the movie effects, the movie effects that have no purpose. It turns kind of black and white sepia tone for two seconds and then cuts out. It's the best. I love you, Runjoy Run. You're very special to me. But I also love you. One hand in my pocket. Feel your move.

[1:10:16] Ian: Wow. That was a really great desertation.

[1:10:21] Claudia: I almost wish that you said it before.

[1:10:24] Ian: I am not trying to change votes. I am just trying to make sure that we are honoring the song that I'm pretty sure is going home and giving it its due.

[1:10:36] Claudia: Um, well, we have a third person in this conversation, and I'm really.

[1:10:40] Ian: Oh, oh, she lost her voice.

[1:10:42] Claudia: She lost her.

[1:10:48] Ian: She's now thinks she can't vote.

[1:10:49] Claudia: She can't vote.

[1:10:50] Ian: She can't talk how she's supposed to vote.

[1:10:53] Claudia: What are we to do now?

[1:10:55] Ian: I guess it's a time.

[1:10:56] Claudia: I guess they both go through.

[1:10:58] Ian: Damn.

[1:10:59] Claudia: My voice came back to.

[1:11:00] Ian: I guess we got a kick.

[1:11:01] Claudia: They both come through and the first competition is null.

[1:11:05] Ian: That's when I vote. They're both evicted.

[1:11:09] Claudia: I feel like this is like actually very hard and sickening. And the face I was making.

[1:11:14] Ian: Is because I want to vote Runjoy Run.

[1:11:23] Claudia: Oh, no.

[1:11:27] Ian: You're joking.

[1:11:28] Claudia: OK, I don't know before you before you get in. I'm not kidding. No, I will say before you go. Finally, I have said I've said my piece on Runjoy Run, and I will say my piece on Earth Move in my pocket is this is like one of the main.

[1:11:45] Broadway Podcast Network: Welcome back to Gleek of the Week!

[1:12:15] Andrew: Today, we have Claudia and Ian joining us. How are you both doing?

[1:12:35] Claudia: I'm doing great! Just excited to dive into some Glee discussions.

[1:13:05] Ian: Same here! I can't wait to talk about these performances.

[1:13:25] Andrew: Awesome! So, let's start with the first song on our list today, "Be Okay." What are your thoughts on it?

[1:13:55] Claudia: I have complicated feelings about "Be Okay." I think it has a nice message, but it doesn't quite hit the mark for me.

[1:14:15] Ian: I agree. It's a sweet sentiment, but it feels a bit flat compared to other songs in the series.

[1:14:25] Andrew: Yeah, I think it lacks the energy that we usually expect from Glee performances.

[1:14:45] Claudia: Exactly! And I wish we had more Brittana duets to balance things out.

[1:14:55] Ian: Oh, definitely! They had such great chemistry, and it’s a shame we didn’t get more of that.

[1:15:15] Andrew: Speaking of chemistry, let's move on to "Hand in My Pocket/I Feel the Earth Move." What did you think of that mashup?

[1:15:35] Claudia: I loved it! It really showcased the talents of the performers.

[1:15:45] Ian: Same here! The way they blended those two songs was really impressive.

[1:16:05] Andrew: It was a fun performance, for sure. And now, let's talk about "More Than Words." What are your thoughts on that one?

[1:16:25] Claudia: I think it's such a beautiful song, but I feel like it could have been executed better.

[1:16:45] Ian: I agree. The emotion was there, but it felt a bit rushed.

[1:17:05] Andrew: Yeah, I think they could have taken their time with it to really let the lyrics resonate.

[1:17:35] Claudia: Absolutely! And now, we have to discuss the cinematic masterpiece that is "Run Joey Run."

[1:18:05] Ian: Oh my gosh, yes! It's such a wild ride.

[1:18:25] Claudia: I mean, the drama, the storytelling—it's all so over the top, but in the best way possible.

[1:18:35] Andrew: It really is a standout moment in the series.

[1:19:05] Ian: And the performances were just so committed. You can't help but be entertained.

[1:19:25] Claudia: Exactly! It's one of those moments that you just have to appreciate for its sheer audacity.

[1:19:35] Andrew: Well, let's move on to the next segment. What do you think about the overall impact of these songs on the series?

[1:20:05] Claudia: I think they all contribute to the show's unique blend of drama and music.

[1:20:25] Ian: Definitely! Each performance adds a layer to the characters and their stories.

[1:20:55] Andrew: And that’s what makes Glee so special. It’s not just about the music; it’s about how it connects to the characters.

[1:21:15] Claudia: Exactly! And I love how each song can evoke different emotions.

[1:21:35] Ian: Yes! It’s like a rollercoaster of feelings every episode.

[1:21:55] Andrew: Well said! Alright, let’s wrap up this discussion. Any final thoughts on the songs we covered today?

[1:22:15] Claudia: Just that I wish we could have more Brittana moments!

[1:22:35] Ian: And that "Run Joey Run" will always be a classic in my book.

[1:22:55] Andrew: Great points! Thanks for joining me today, Claudia and Ian.

[1:23:15] Claudia: Thanks for having us!

[1:23:35] Ian: It was a blast!
