[0:00] Andrew: We've got a mission to find the best song that's ever been on Glee.

[0:09] Andrew: There's no rhyme or reason to it, so don't get mad at me.

[0:18] Andrew: Glacket by Glacket, we'll rank everyone to see which song will move closer to spot number one.

[0:26] Andrew: Gleek of the Week. Gleek, Gleek, Gleek of the Week. It's Gleek, Gleek of the Week.

[0:35] Andrew: Final live stream, final live stream, final live stream, final live stream of the year.

[0:43] Andrew: Final episode of the year as well. Wowie, zowie, mowie. I'm here, queen of my life.

[0:52] Andrew: I literally am obsessed with this woman. You know her. Emilee?

[1:00] Emilee Carroll: Hello.

[1:02] Andrew: Last time that we checked in, you couldn't be more upset with how things were going with Glacket.

[1:09] Andrew: You couldn't be sadder. So do you want to take us through where you are right now?

[1:15] Emilee Carroll: Well, a lot has happened since then. I am very pleased with my fellow Gleeks that y'all did the right thing.

[1:24] Emilee Carroll: You brought my man back to justice.

[1:28] Emilee Carroll: My man left, and my man returneth.

[1:30] Andrew: Yes. Is there anything else that we need to break down in terms of this, dare I say, iconic Heather Morris episode that I was really, really happy with how it turned out?

[1:42] Andrew: Do you have any? What are your thoughts, Emilee? I know that that was a pretty controversial competition.

[1:51] Emilee Carroll: Yeah, I kind of agree with Heather, actually. Disco Inferno, just too iconic to go home.

[2:00] Emilee Carroll: I'm not a huge fan of We Are Young. I don't hate it, but I don't watch it as some people.

[2:10] Emilee Carroll: So for me, it was an obvious choice. I'm right there with Heather, but the episode was iconic.

[2:16] Emilee Carroll: It was so great to hear all the things that she had to say. And you guys had so much fun conversations.

[2:25] Emilee Carroll: She was really, really down to clown. And I was very, very pleased with how she was excited to be there.

[2:35] Emilee Carroll: She was just coming in hot with singing at the top of the episode. Very, very fun. So surreal, surreal vibes.

[2:45] Emilee Carroll: I loved it.

[2:46] Andrew: Emilee, in terms of this episode that we're going to be doing today, you've been part of some really controversial competitions, I feel, most notably My Man vs. 4 Minutes most recently.

[3:00] Andrew: What are we looking to be chill today? What are we looking for?

[3:05] Emilee Carroll: Yeah, I think I need a little break. That was a really, really enticing.

[3:12] Emilee Carroll: No, I mean, I'm always down for whatever. But before we get too far into this, our beautiful, beautiful Gleek friend Bree messaged me right before we started.

[3:26] Andrew: Yes.

[3:27] Emilee Carroll: And with the passage of your recent birthday, I think you are now a part of the elder Gleek.

[3:36] Andrew: No. Wait, Bree is having a conversation with you about my elderness?

[3:44] Emilee Carroll: Yeah, Bree and I were, oops, sorry, Bree. Sorry to call you out. But like, 30 is the mark of the elder Gleek.

[3:56] Emilee Carroll: That's where it is.

[3:58] Andrew: Do you feel like, okay, when you turned 30, do you feel like you began watching the show through a different lens?

[4:06] Emilee Carroll: You know, I think so. I think you're going to see some of these things and be like, oh, who I used to side with before on this, now I'm looking through another lens. So yeah, welcome to it.

[4:22] Andrew: Wait, wait, wait. Specifically, who are you talking about? Like, who was a shift for you when you became elder Gleek? Your term, not mine.

[4:30] Emilee Carroll: Elder Gleek, yes, elder Gleek. You know, a big shift for me was actually a lot of the stuff with Mr. Shue. Now, the writing for him, when I first watched the show, I was like, oh, he's just this really enthusiastic teacher who loves his kids. There's nothing weird about any of this.

[4:54] Andrew: Yeah.

[4:55] Emilee Carroll: Now that I am slowly approaching the next decade after that, I'm like, oh, we've got some problems.

[5:05] Emilee Carroll: I will say, yeah, only, I guess, less than a month into my 30s, I will say that, like, I guess even before that, the high school kind of, not nostalgia, but like reminiscence of it all is really real in a way that like, I'm like, okay, I'm understanding what Mr. Shuster and Terry are saying. I'm understanding, like, I'm understanding these things in a way that I wasn't getting when I was actually in high school.

[5:35] Andrew: Absolutely. Yeah, it is. It is definitely an interesting watch to watch back. I mean, for me, when I first started Glee, I was out of high school, so I never really watched it in high school, but I was in college, I was in school, and I really felt connected because I was the same age in real life as the characters. And I did a lot of theater.

[5:54] Emilee Carroll: And remind me, you're part of this, you were the same age as Rachel, Finn, yes?

[6:00] Emilee Carroll: Yes, yes. I'm actually two months younger than Jenna and two months older than Leah. I'm right in between.

[6:10] Andrew: Oh, got it, got it, got it. They're sandwiching you.

[6:14] Emilee Carroll: Yes. I mean, this is just boom, boom, boom. That's how they referred to me as well. They're like, I'm two months younger than Emily, my favorite fan. But no, I'm right in that age range. So I kind of connected on that level.

[6:32] Emilee Carroll: But being in like doing a lot of theater, you work with people who are older and younger and all different age ranges. So I definitely was connected to people who were like in the high school, you know, late high school, early college age, experiencing this for the first time.

[6:37] Andrew: But yeah, no, you definitely do. I mean, I think now that you're 30, it's time for another rewatch. And you gotta start taking notes and be like, oh my god, I finally, this is adulthood. This is elder Gleekness.

[7:04] Emilee Carroll: Yes, elder Gleekness. Thank you so much for welcoming me. I couldn't think of a better welcome than this.

[7:10] Andrew: Don't worry. The t-shirts in the mail. No, I'm just kidding.

[7:12] Emilee Carroll: Oh my god, I can't wait. You know my size. Okay, so I want to bring in our first Gleek of the episode. Ryan, hello.

[7:18] Ryan: Oh, wait, you're still muted.

[7:23] Ryan: There we go. Hello.

[7:24] Andrew: There we go.

[7:25] Ryan: Hi.

[7:25] Andrew: Hello.

[7:26] Andrew: How's it going?

[7:28] Ryan: Oh my god, Ryan, I'm so excited to have you because not only are you beautiful, beautiful Gleek, Glistener, all of the above, but I feel like you really like sold me on this, this slot that you are now have because you were like, are you number one Glistener of Gleek the Week podcast? Would you suffice to say?

[7:49] Ryan: I listened. I'm the last episode I listened to was Emily, your last episode a couple days ago, but I started in June. So I listened to pretty much the entire podcast.

[8:02] Ryan: Yeah.

[8:03] Ryan: Like from June to now.

[8:05] Andrew: So I think that-

[8:05] Ryan: Baby Gleek.

[8:07] Ryan: Baby Gleek. Okay, wait, so you're not fully caught up, but you probably listen to more of this podcast than anybody on the planet, would suffice to say?

[8:16] Ryan: At this point, this year, at least.

[8:18] Andrew: Yes. Yeah. That's incredible. Thank you so much for all the time that you devoted.

[8:23] Ryan: I was happy to find it.

[8:25] Andrew: Wait, so remind me, the last episode that you listened to was Emily's last episode with-

[8:29] Ryan: Yeah, so like end of October-ish.

[8:32] Ryan: Yes.

[8:32] Ryan: And then I just listened to half of the Heather Morris episode while I was doing some grocery shopping.

[8:37] Andrew: Hey, now. Okay. So, I mean, I'm scared to ask, Ryan, lots has transpired since June.

[8:49] Andrew: Wait, also, how did you find it? The podcast?

[8:52] Ryan: I have no idea. It just happened to be on my Spotify.

[8:56] Ryan: There was, years ago, I was going to listen, and I thought it was only Christmas, because the logo with the crown looks like a Christmas ornament.

[9:06] Andrew: Oh my God, I've gotten this feedback before.

[9:07] Ryan: So I stopped myself one time, but happened to find it again.

[9:11] Andrew: That's so funny.

[9:11] Ryan: One of my husband's friends listens as well. So I hopped on and just, it's been my binge while I work, while I drive, while I grocery shop, while I walk my dog.

[9:24] Andrew: Oh my gosh.

[9:25] Ryan: I've gone through all of it.

[9:27] Andrew: Incredible. So with that in mind, lots of competitions, I would dare I say hundreds of competitions have transpired since June. Do you have a, what kind of list are we looking at of competitions that did not sit right with your spirit?

[9:47] Ryan: So my big Glee opinion is I don't think Glee does Sara Bareilles correctly.

[9:56] Ryan: I think that Rachel's voice is too pitch perfect, and I think that goes against who Sara Bareilles is. So I find love songs so grating. It's probably my least favorite song on Glee.

[10:13] Andrew: Least favorite song?

[10:15] Ryan: Because I, it's one of those things where if I really care about a song outside of the show, it either goes up really high on the list, or it goes all the way to the bottom.

[10:26] Andrew: Right.

[10:26] Ryan: I find that there's just something about that episode, the way that she's singing in it, that I just don't think works.

[10:34] Andrew: Yeah, okay.

[10:34] Ryan: And it just, it's like nails on a chalkboard to me.

[10:37] Andrew: And I do want to remind the Gleeks, love song is still around.

[10:41] Ryan: Oh, I know.

[10:42] Ryan: And so, and you're, you would be excited to take her out.

[10:47] Ryan: On my notes, I have a section called Will Kill, and it's a love song at the top of that list.

[10:54] Ryan: There's only two. There's only two songs that are kind of on the hit list. What is the other one?

[10:58] Ryan: Shout.

[11:00] Andrew: Okay.

[11:01] Ryan: I'm with you.

[11:02] Ryan: It's time to go.

[11:03] Ryan: It's just a wedding song. And it's the worst wedding song.

[11:06] Ryan: When I got married, I had a list of songs that if you're forced to sing along with, or told how to dance, we're not allowed to play it at the wedding.

[11:14] Ryan: And the shouts on there, cha-cha slide, all those things I think are so annoying.

[11:19] Andrew: So yeah, I can't stand shout.

[11:21] Andrew: I have a question. So Ryan, back to the Sara Bareilles of it all.

[11:25] Ryan: Absolutely.

[11:27] Andrew: So do you like listen, do you like listen to like her music?

[11:30] Ryan: Oh, yeah. I love her so much.

[11:32] Ryan: Amazing.

[11:34] Ryan: Her art is a perfect album.

[11:36] Ryan: And like, just the intro song is like my favorite song.

[11:40] Andrew: Yes.

[11:40] Ryan: She's out of this world. And also I am girls by Veva, like, her playing basketball at Dolly Parton, like Sara Bareilles can do no wrong.

[11:50] Ryan: But I think that I think we didn't do right by her.

[11:53] Ryan: I've been fortunate enough to see her and into the woods. And then also to hear her.

[11:58] Ryan: She did a before she was even big. She opened for Maroon 5. I live in Wisconsin.

[12:03] Ryan: So I saw her in Green Bay and like a studio room with Green Bay, Green Bay.

[12:08] Ryan: And with like 10 people before like anyone knew who she was, and my friend introduced me to her.

[12:14] Ryan: And it was just this incredible, like you said, she just has such a raw vocal.

[12:19] Andrew: And so if so being that you're a fan, I love this.

[12:23] Ryan: Is there a song that you think Glee would have done?

[12:26] Ryan: Wow.

[12:27] Ryan: So in my my head cannon while the show is going on, the Karofsky story should have ended with Kurt singing in front of the school king of anything, but the string version, because like the what version, the strings version.

[12:43] Ryan: So there's one that's all just like plucking familiar with this.

[12:47] Andrew: Look it up.

[12:48] Ryan: So like, when they went the way they went with Karofsky, I was like, this is going to happen.

[12:54] Ryan: Like, I remember feeling that way about certain songs. I'm like, I know it's gonna I know it's gonna end with this song.

[13:02] Andrew: Yeah, yeah.

[13:05] Ryan: I'm so sorry, I keep derailing.

[13:09] Ryan: But I have a song too.

[13:10] Ryan: So when I was on the podcast with Kevin and Jenna, there is the breakup is my favorite episode.

[13:16] Ryan: And so the I always thought that the storyline with Will and Emma was so out of left field that I always thought it should have been a Tina and Mike Chang storyline.

[13:31] Ryan: And yes, what it should the scene should have been is it should have been Jenna singing Sara Bareilles's Gravity while Mike Chang was dancing at Juilliard.

[13:41] Ryan: And they should have been in The Scientist instead of Will and Emma.

[13:45] Andrew: And of course, Emily, I know that you're aware of this, the Studio 54 below of her Jenna singing that there.

[13:54] Emilee Carroll: And I never heard it before.

[13:57] Ryan: And then I did.

[13:58] Ryan: And it is incredible.

[14:00] Emilee Carroll: It's perfect.

[14:01] Andrew: Wait, so wait, Ryan, you're also you hate Love Song.

[14:06] Ryan: The grating Worsley song for you.

[14:08] Ryan: Yes.

[14:10] Ryan: And then where it is in the Brave is just closely behind.

[14:13] Ryan: It's exactly the same.

[14:14] Ryan: Exactly the same.

[14:16] Ryan: There was a point when, like, I was listening to the podcast and Brave had been kicked out.

[14:20] Ryan: And then I heard Love Song.

[14:22] Ryan: I was like, oh, I thought they were the same song.

[14:24] Ryan: Like, in my head, that one scene is the same.

[14:26] Andrew: I don't even remember where Brave came from.

[14:29] Ryan: So you don't know the context of Brave within the show?

[14:33] Andrew: Not anymore.

[14:34] Ryan: It's gone.

[14:34] Ryan: You blocked it out.

[14:36] Ryan: I must have.

[14:36] Ryan: I don't know.

[14:37] Ryan: I can't remember.

[14:38] Ryan: Where does it where does it fit in?

[14:39] Andrew: I is it season five?

[14:41] Ryan: That's season five.

[14:43] Ryan: That includes a lot.

[14:44] Andrew: Frenemies.

[14:45] Ryan: It's Rachel and Santana that they're like, it's Rachel's, like, funny girl magazine shoot.

[14:51] Ryan: And she invites Santana.

[14:53] Ryan: And Santana gets a little taste of the spotlight.

[14:56] Andrew: Yes.

[14:56] Ryan: Fair.

[14:58] Ryan: Yeah, I have to give it a re-listen.

[14:59] Ryan: But like, it's just the same thing where it just like, it just feels so overproduced.

[15:05] Ryan: That just goes against what I feel with a Sara Bareilles track.

[15:10] Andrew: Fine.

[15:10] Andrew: That's fair.

[15:11] Ryan: Which is why I'm happy they never did Ingrid Michaelson.

[15:13] Andrew: Because they would have done the same thing.

[15:17] Ryan: Yeah, I'm trying to think.

[15:18] Ryan: Even with the right B-okay?

[15:20] Andrew: Even with the right B-okay.

[15:21] Ryan: Well, yeah, the other B-okay.

[15:23] Andrew: We don't even talk about her.

[15:24] Ryan: We don't need we've already you've already drove that into the dirt.

[15:28] Ryan: She gone.

[15:29] Andrew: Bye.

[15:29] Andrew: Okay, wait, so Ryan, what else do you have to talk about beyond Sara Bareilles?

[15:34] Ryan: Sorry, I just freaked out.

[15:36] Ryan: That was incredible.

[15:36] Ryan: It was perfect.

[15:37] Ryan: The so the the mine discourse, I wasn't sure if she would still be here at this point.

[15:44] Ryan: But even like months ago, when I was listening, the I think that mine is really good.

[15:50] Ryan: But I don't understand why it's just not Stay Beautiful.

[15:53] Ryan: Because that is exactly the part of their relationship that they're talking about.

[15:59] Ryan: Like the Taylor Swift song Stay Beautiful is about breaking up with someone and hoping they return to you, which is exactly what she's doing in that moment.

[16:04] Andrew: So why they went with mine as the song and not Stay Beautiful makes no sense to me.

[16:14] Ryan: Well, do you know about the the tea that it was supposed to actually be Frank Ocean's bad religion in that scene?

[16:19] Andrew: Do you know about this?

[16:20] Ryan: I did not know this.

[16:21] Andrew: Yeah.

[16:22] Andrew: And so I think that they weren't able to get the rights for that song.

[16:25] Andrew: And then they switch it to mine, which kind of now that I'm saying it out loud, feels like crazy that it's like, oh, we didn't get rights to Frank Ocean.

[16:32] Andrew: But we can get rights to a Taylor Swift song like that.

[16:36] Ryan: Can we just like a more accessible song?

[16:39] Andrew: 2011 was a weird time.

[16:40] Ryan: Yeah, yeah, yeah.

[16:42] Ryan: But no, mine, I understand what you're saying about mine, though.

[16:45] Ryan: It's not.

[16:46] Ryan: But I think it does work.

[16:48] Andrew: No?

[16:48] Ryan: It works.

[16:49] Ryan: But it's just that there is an adjacent Taylor Swift song that is literally-

[16:52] Andrew: That works better.

[16:54] Ryan: Absolutely perfectly.

[16:55] Andrew: Okay.

[16:56] Andrew: All right.

[16:57] Ryan: But I like the song.

[16:59] Ryan: It's just that they should have done that better.

[17:01] Ryan: The Let Me Love You, the Jake song.

[17:05] Ryan: Until You Learn to Love Yourself.

[17:06] Ryan: Maybe my favorite on the show.

[17:08] Ryan: And that being gone, kills me.

[17:10] Andrew: Round one.

[17:12] Andrew: Close to You, the Carpenters cover by Sam.

[17:15] Ryan: Yes.

[17:15] Andrew: Also wonderful.

[17:16] Ryan: Beautiful.

[17:18] Ryan: Sad that one's gone.

[17:20] Ryan: Also, one thing that I do every so often is like, I'll just go back to the competition episodes.

[17:27] Ryan: So last night, I just hung out and watched a couple.

[17:32] Ryan: What killed Clarity?

[17:33] Ryan: Because that is so good.

[17:36] Andrew: I think-

[17:38] Andrew: Why do I feel like Clarity was taken out by Love Song?

[17:42] Ryan: I think that-

[17:43] Ryan: Oh, that hurts even deeper.

[17:45] Ryan: I think that if-

[17:46] Ryan: I'm not making this up.

[17:48] Ryan: Let me-

[17:50] Ryan: Let me see.

[17:51] Ryan: Yes, Love Song won over Clarity.

[17:55] Andrew: My mind.

[17:57] Ryan: It's crazy.

[17:58] Ryan: I was telling my husband about this, Andrew.

[18:00] Ryan: I'm like, he's just like, oh, I remember that in competition one.

[18:03] Andrew: Oh, in competition, this in round one.

[18:05] Ryan: Well, it's like-

[18:07] Ryan: Well, because like, now that I like, I'll rewatch an episode of Glee, or I'll like put Glee on Shuffle or whatever.

[18:13] Ryan: And I'm like, okay, in my mind, I'm like constantly refreshing of like, this song, this song left this one.

[18:20] Andrew: And this song is still around.

[18:24] Ryan: My mind.

[18:24] Ryan: On the resume.

[18:25] Andrew: No, I don't think it's useful beyond this very conversation.

[18:31] Ryan: Okay, I'm so sorry.

[18:34] Ryan: You set yourself up for the Clarity of it all.

[18:36] Andrew: I mean, it's fine.

[18:37] Ryan: But maybe I'll get my revenge tonight.

[18:40] Andrew: You might get your life back.

[18:41] Ryan: That's a possibility.

[18:42] Andrew: The last note that I have on grievances, I don't even know if this is a grievance.

[18:46] Andrew: Is More Than a Feeling still in?

[18:48] Ryan: No.

[18:49] Ryan: More Than a Feeling was taken out by Homeward Bound Home in round one.

[18:55] Andrew: Oh, see, I don't like Homeward Bound Home.

[18:57] Ryan: But I think-

[18:58] Ryan: It's a really divisive one.

[18:59] Ryan: I think More Than a Feeling is Tina's best vocal.

[19:02] Ryan: The harmony that she does on that is outstanding.

[19:06] Andrew: Yeah.

[19:07] Ryan: So-

[19:09] Ryan: She knew she was leaving.

[19:10] Ryan: Jenna was like, I'm gonna get this one big thing in before I head out, before I have fun off screen.

[19:19] Andrew: Yeah.

[19:21] Andrew: Anyway, Ryan, what are you-

[19:24] Andrew: You're looking forward to killing Love Song or Shout.

[19:30] Ryan: But what are you manifesting, sending through?

[19:33] Ryan: I would love Gloria.

[19:35] Andrew: Hey.

[19:36] Ryan: Let's go.

[19:37] Ryan: Borderline Open Your Heart.

[19:39] Ryan: Beautiful.

[19:40] Ryan: Never Going Back Again, which is also a contender for winner of my Glackett.

[19:44] Andrew: Winner of your Glackett.

[19:46] Ryan: I am like a gigantic Fleetwood Mac fan.

[19:48] Ryan: And I just rewatched last night.

[19:50] Ryan: It still holds up.

[19:51] Ryan: I think they did that episode so perfectly.

[19:54] Ryan: And it's the only Artolo left.

[19:56] Andrew: And that too, unfortunately.

[19:57] Ryan: It's the only time Finn plays guitar.

[20:00] Andrew: Hey.

[20:00] Ryan: That's true.

[20:03] Ryan: And then Take Me or Leave Me.

[20:06] Ryan: I really like You Get What You Give.

[20:09] Ryan: Very cute.

[20:10] Ryan: That was my karaoke song for a long time.

[20:14] Ryan: There's something about a mid-90s vocal that's perfect for anyone's range.

[20:20] Ryan: It's very helpful.

[20:21] Ryan: And Sweet Transvestite is also on my list of things.

[20:24] Emilee Carroll: I believe that you were here in round two for Sweet Transvestite.

[20:27] Andrew: Probably.

[20:29] Emilee Carroll: I can't even remember what round I was in myself.

[20:32] Andrew: You blacked out.

[20:45] Emilee Carroll: You blacked out.

[20:47] Andrew: Okay, so Ryan, are we ready for your competition?

[20:54] Ryan: Born ready.

[20:55] Andrew: Oh no.

[20:56] Andrew: Let's see.

[21:00] Andrew: Nothing that you mentioned.

[21:01] Andrew: I'll tell you that much.

[21:03] Andrew: But it is, I would say, topical.

[21:08] Andrew: I'll say it.

[21:10] Andrew: Um, and you're gonna know why.

[21:12] Andrew: I was thinking about this song today.

[21:14] Andrew: Share sound, and we are looking at Sam and Quinn at Breadsticks.

[21:21] Ryan: You know what this is?

[21:23] Andrew: Is it Lucky?

[21:25] Ryan: No, this is-

[21:26] Andrew: Oh no, it's that episode.

[21:28] Ryan: Yes, it is.

[21:30] Andrew: Um.

[21:31] Ryan: It's not Take Me or Leave Me, right?

[21:33] Andrew: It is not Take Me or Leave Me.

[21:35] Ryan: Oh, it's Happy Days.

[21:37] Andrew: It's Happy Days are here again.

[21:39] Ryan: I love it.

[21:41] Andrew: Here we go.

[21:45] Andrew: And if I said, like, I'm being serious.

[21:48] Andrew: Real contender for best song on Glee.

[21:50] Ryan: It's up there.

[21:52] Andrew: Remember when they gave Kurt songs that worked for his voice?

[21:54] Ryan: That was fun.

[21:56] Andrew: Hey.

[21:57] Andrew: And this one really did.

[22:01] Andrew: I think that this is just like, I say it every time.

[22:03] Andrew: I feel like this, this song really, this song from Duets really encapsulates the episode better than any other songs in this episode.

[22:11] Andrew: Because it's just like, it feels like such an ensemble.

[22:13] Andrew: I'm obsessed with it.

[22:15] Andrew: And I love all the vignettes to all the different characters.

[22:18] Andrew: Everybody gets a little moment.

[22:21] Andrew: I just really think that this is literally, mission statement, what Glee is.

[22:28] Andrew: It also does such a good job of what they usually aren't good at, which is like, they give you all these really fun relationships and then never return to them.

[22:38] Andrew: This is when they solidified why Rachel and Kurt are friends.

[22:42] Ryan: Yeah.

[22:42] Andrew: And they stuck with it.

[22:44] Andrew: That's a great point.

[22:45] Andrew: Instead of taking Mercedes away from Quinn.

[22:49] Emilee Carroll: This shows why they work together.

[22:51] Andrew: And then they just, obviously, deteriorates everywhere else in the show, unfortunately.

[22:56] Emilee Carroll: Yeah.

[22:58] Emilee Carroll: Andrew, what are you thinking about?

[22:59] Emilee Carroll: Happy Days are here again. Get happy.

[23:01] Emilee Carroll: This is a song that I have manifested many times on this show.

[23:07] Emilee Carroll: Here it is.

[23:08] Emilee Carroll: Finally.

[23:12] Emilee Carroll: This is just incredible.

[23:13] Emilee Carroll: And yes, it's very topical.

[23:15] Emilee Carroll: Someone said because of the Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande version that they just did, which also was just an incredible version of this number.

[23:24] Emilee Carroll: But for me, it's the Glee version.

[23:27] Emilee Carroll: Like this is the version for me.

[23:30] Emilee Carroll: And it's so funny because I love watching it.

[23:34] Emilee Carroll: Because you can see how much Leah is trying to just embody the original.

[23:41] Emilee Carroll: She studied the sacred text.

[23:43] Andrew: Yeah.

[23:45] Emilee Carroll: And poor Chris Colfer, beautiful sounding, is literally just there for the ride.

[23:51] Emilee Carroll: Like he is just like, oh my god.

[23:54] Emilee Carroll: But he is in it.

[23:55] Emilee Carroll: And that blend, I mean, that is why they sang it live.

[23:59] Emilee Carroll: Because they just feel it.

[24:02] Emilee Carroll: And whatever their personal relationship may be or may not be, you can't deny how just incredible of a blend of how amazing their voices sound together.

[24:15] Emilee Carroll: And this is just a perfect number.

[24:19] Emilee Carroll: This is a good contender for not being a group number where we've had a lot of discussions, solos versus group.

[24:27] Emilee Carroll: This is a contender for me.

[24:28] Emilee Carroll: I mean, this is a big one.

[24:30] Andrew: I, and I, oh my gosh.

[24:32] Andrew: I just need to shout out, of course, the Above a Clear Again.

[24:36] Emilee Carroll: Above a clear.

[24:37] Emilee Carroll: Above a clear again.

[24:40] Andrew: Vocal stim unlocked.

[24:43] Emilee Carroll: Always.

[24:44] Emilee Carroll: Literally.

[24:45] Emilee Carroll: I just need that as an mp3 file, as a song.

[24:47] Emilee Carroll: I'm going to be doing that all night.

[24:48] Emilee Carroll: My husband's going to be like, please do that.

[24:50] Andrew: Above a clear again.

[24:52] Emilee Carroll: No.

[24:53] Emilee Carroll: Never.

[24:55] Emilee Carroll: The outfits are so good.

[24:56] Andrew: Oh, it's great.

[24:58] Emilee Carroll: I remember being like, I want a silver suit when this show, when this one first came out.

[25:04] Emilee Carroll: Never achieved that dream.

[25:05] Andrew: Maybe today's the day.

[25:06] Emilee Carroll: There's still time.

[25:07] Emilee Carroll: You know what's also crazy is that that outfit is very Barbara a la Funny Girl.

[25:14] Emilee Carroll: It's that sailor-y outfit.

[25:15] Emilee Carroll: So it's really cool that she kind of revisits that later when she's playing Funny Girl, but in the sequined version, I guess.

[25:23] Emilee Carroll: But I just, I really love, I love this song so much.

[25:30] Emilee Carroll: And I'm glad that they did it in this episode as well.

[25:32] Emilee Carroll: I think it's like, it's a canon event.

[25:34] Emilee Carroll: They would obviously sing this song before series end, but like, I'm very thankful that it happened in this episode.

[25:40] Emilee Carroll: I don't know.

[25:43] Emilee Carroll: It's just like, like, like the duets episode.

[25:45] Emilee Carroll: This is such an iconic duet that it's like, I think that it could have been easily shoehorned into like a flimsier kind of storyline later on that it's like, oh, we still haven't done this.

[25:56] Emilee Carroll: But I think that it like really works here.

[25:59] Emilee Carroll: And then like you were saying, Ryan, that it like really solidifies this, these two, why they're friends, that they see each other.

[26:06] Emilee Carroll: And of course, you have the Judy and Barbara of it all.

[26:09] Emilee Carroll: And I just think that it works on so many different levels.

[26:14] Emilee Carroll: I'm obsessed.

[26:15] Emilee Carroll: And I just love that, that shot of, of Britney walking down the hallway and just like, I just love that she like, this is, obviously we already had like Britney, Britney.

[26:26] Emilee Carroll: Where it was like, she was just kind of a more exaggerated joke for 45 minutes.

[26:32] Emilee Carroll: But I feel like duets like really gave her like autonomy for the first time.

[26:38] Emilee Carroll: Then it's like, she has to live with her decision.

[26:40] Emilee Carroll: She's making choices.

[26:42] Emilee Carroll: She has regrets.

[26:44] Emilee Carroll: I don't know.

[26:45] Emilee Carroll: I just, I love that shot.

[26:46] Emilee Carroll: I think it's so stunning.

[26:48] Andrew: Yeah, it really adds a depth to Britney that you don't see before.

[26:51] Andrew: I mean, yeah, the meatball of it is hilarious, right?

[26:54] Andrew: But like, yeah, that, that really does.

[26:57] Andrew: It adds, you can really see it.

[26:59] Andrew: And it's, it's really exciting to see where that character goes.

[27:03] Andrew: And even, even weirdly, the shot of Santana, you kind of just see like a flicker of something.

[27:09] Andrew: And it's like, something's brewing in there.

[27:12] Andrew: Something we don't know about yet.

[27:13] Andrew: You know, now looking at it, now knowing what we know.

[27:16] Emilee Carroll: But it's, it's, yeah, I, duets, contender for best episode of season two.

[27:22] Andrew: I would say best episode.

[27:23] Emilee Carroll: I just think best episode, just like generally.

[27:26] Emilee Carroll: I know that I'm a big Asian F fan, but like duets is kind of, it's that episode.

[27:31] Andrew: It is.

[27:31] Emilee Carroll: Oh, oh, I love all of it.

[27:34] Emilee Carroll: I just love that episode.

[27:35] Emilee Carroll: Just a good one.

[27:36] Andrew: Good, good, good.

[27:36] Andrew: Is there anything else that we need to say about Happy Days Are Here Again slash Get Happy?

[27:42] Emilee Carroll: I'm just scared for what we're going to pull against that.

[27:45] Andrew: Okay, here we go.

[27:46] Andrew: Please don't, please don't My Man this.

[27:48] Emilee Carroll: Please don't My Man this.

[27:50] Andrew: My Man again?

[27:52] Ryan: Oh no!

[27:53] Andrew: Um, oh, this is a really interesting competition.

[27:59] Andrew: Oh no!

[28:00] Andrew: I actually don't know where you fall with this song, Emily.

[28:04] Andrew: I would, I almost feel like you might not like it.

[28:08] Emilee Carroll: Good.

[28:08] Andrew: I don't know why.

[28:10] Andrew: Can I just, can I give you a big old hint?

[28:13] Andrew: It is the first song in the Glocket.

[28:19] Ryan: You mic that chain.

[28:21] Andrew: No, no, not the Glocket, but like the first song eligible from the series to be in the Glocket.

[28:27] Emilee Carroll: Does that make sense?

[28:28] Andrew: Oh, yeah.

[28:29] Emilee Carroll: I like this song.

[28:32] Andrew: There's a lot of voiceover on this one.

[28:34] Andrew: Yes, there is.

[28:36] Andrew: Of course, we are talking about On My Own.

[28:39] Emilee Carroll: Oh, shit.

[28:44] Andrew: I hate being in this position.

[29:00] Ryan: I mean, for me, a big thing with this is just like, that first episode was like a masterclass of a pilot.

[29:15] Ryan: And like, I was in it on day zero, like, yeah, we're in the American Idol finale.

[29:21] Ryan: I was in college at the time.

[29:22] Ryan: And like, I just found it and was so into it, to the point that like, I had like the first iPhone and I felt really fancy having the video on my iPhone.

[29:33] Ryan: Yeah, I was like, at like a house party and couldn't drive home.

[29:38] Ryan: So I like slept in someone's, like brother's room who wasn't there and just watched that on my phone until I sobered up.

[29:45] Ryan: Like, I probably watched that pilot like, 15 to 20 times before it even aired in the fall.

[29:54] Ryan: But like, there's so much there that like, like that.

[30:00] Emilee Carroll: For me, this is the start of it all. Every time I rewatch, it makes me feel what I would give to go back and rewatch this for the first time. It gives me chills. It gives me goosebumps. It brings a little tear to the eye, especially when she's singing at the very end after all the mean comments and she sings the, "I love him," and she's got that, she like closes her eyes and she like, it's the first, right? It's the first time you see Rachel be Rachel. And it's really special. And oh, it's so hard.

[30:35] Ryan: Yeah, well, I was like thinking about like, okay, so this is obviously a Nasty Work competition that's out to get specifically me and destroy my day. But I was thinking about like the similarities between these two songs of "Happy Days Are Here Again/Get Happy" and "On My Own," that it's like, where I feel like this duets mashup is kind of like a mission statement for just like the show at large. "On My Own" is like, this is mission statement of here's your main character, like take her or leave her. She's insane. This is what drives her. This is her history. And this is, you know, this is who we're going to have to work with for the next 121 episodes. So, oh, gosh.

[31:08] Emilee Carroll: I will say, real quick, I will say that how the, again, is a vocal for you. Also the "Hi, My Name Is Rachel Berry" and I'm singing the Seminole Classic. From Les Mis, you know, that is kind of like a vocal sim for me, too. And it's like, I do that and people like don't know what that is. And I'm like, just go watch Glee and you'll know.

[31:26] Ryan: I've brought this up before. I feel bad for not knowing what does Seminole mean? Like the, like the number one, right? It's like the one that is the most known.

[31:32] Emilee Carroll: I think it means like definitive, right?

[31:34] Ryan: The definitive classic, like Les Mis, I guess. Huh. Interesting.

[31:40] Emilee Carroll: I could be wrong. I used to be an English teacher and I went through a lot of that, too.

[31:45] Ryan: So that's okay. I always think about like the fact that like when they have like the entire Glee cast and the writers and everyone like do like a live commentary of the pilot. I love when they get to this performance and like they're talking about like the editing decision to cut to Rachel getting slushied, like while she's hitting that big note. And then like Ryan's like, yeah, we just need to just like show that slushy again, because it was honestly getting annoying. Like watching her like, it was like it was too much. And I really like it. It like humbles her, you know? I mean, she's already being humbled left and right, but it's a reminder. We also get the dad's joke, which I think like, especially when the time was perfect, like of her like not knowing who they are. But when we were watching that, I made the connection of like, like obviously they recast them.

[33:01] Emilee Carroll: Yes.

[33:02] Ryan: So canonically, her real father is the wizard and her mother is Elphaba.

[33:07] Emilee Carroll: Hey, unless we forget.

[33:09] Ryan: Very strange.

[33:10] Emilee Carroll: True.

[33:12] Ryan: I will also say that every time that I listen to the mp3 version of the song, the Myspace comment sound, the zoom, zoom, I'm still hearing it at the point where like, it comes in at the song. It's just it's part of the song now for me.

[33:19] Emilee Carroll: I forget the push for Myspace. Oh, what a thing.

[33:23] Ryan: Oh, yeah. What else are we thinking? Do we have even the slightest idea of how we're voting?

[33:28] Emilee Carroll: I do.

[33:29] Ryan: I mean, I know.

[33:31] Emilee Carroll: Oh, wow. Okay.

[33:32] Ryan: I know, but I'm sad because I don't want to send either of them home. But I know.

[33:38] Emilee Carroll: And do you want to do first, Emily?

[33:42] Emilee Carroll: Yeah, I have to throw my weight behind "Happy Days." It is just, it's I don't know. It's it while they're very evenly based as very good numbers and "On My Own" is the start of it all. "Happy Days," there's just something about it that is really special. So that's that's the direction I'm going in.

[34:05] Ryan: Are you co-signing? Are you working against Emily? Where do you fall?

[34:10] Ryan: I didn't expect to be as torn as I am. Like, yeah, once we listen to "Happy Days," I was like, that is stellar. Like, we're not going to get it. And but there's something about that. That first episode that is just so strong. But I think if I'm looking at the glacket and thinking about this being about the music and about part of the show, I as much as I love that first episode, like, if we really truncated it into just what is the song, it's not as powerful as "Happy Days" is. So I think I too have to go with "Happy Days."

[34:55] Emilee Carroll: And you put me in a really easy position because there's I don't need to make a decision necessarily. But I will. I think that I'm like tempted to do and I know that people don't like this, but this I need to do a pity vote for "On My Own." I think that's absolutely warranted in this situation. Yep. Yep. Yep. Yep. Because if you wouldn't have, I probably would have just because it deserves some love.

[35:20] Ryan: Ah, that's so disgusting. And also,

[35:23] Emilee Carroll: No, it's not. I don't think so.

[35:26] Ryan: It's disgusting what's happening to "Rollos." I think it's gross.

[35:30] Emilee Carroll: But it's just it's the nature of the glacket, baby. I mean, that's just that's just how it rolls.

[35:35] Ryan: I will say I've been thinking so much about Mer Solos. And I'm like, she's actually getting to a point where I'm like, I think that someone brought up like a few episodes ago that like Mercedes Mer Solos will have a similar fate as "Rollos" next round that it will be like, okay, we need to seriously make some cuts here.

[36:01] Emilee Carroll: It's going to be Mer Solo versus Mer Solo a lot if we have as many as we have. I mean, it's inevitable. So it'll happen.

[36:06] Ryan: A lot of them are just getting in. I mean, not to say that they're not all fantastic, but yeah, anyway, I think to the like, ultimately, like, sure, there are a lot of solos going through, but I think Glee is at its best when it's people together. More so than it is solos. So like, I would much prefer to have a Rachel duet with Kurt going far than some random solo that she gets because she gets 800,000 solos.

[36:32] Emilee Carroll: She does. And that's actually true. Check Glee wiki. That's the exact number. 800,000.

[36:38] Ryan: 800,000. Thank you so much for joining.

[36:45] Emilee Carroll: Absolutely. Thank you.

[36:47] Ryan: And thank you so much for listening. And oh my gosh, what a privilege to have you here with us tonight.

[36:54] Emilee Carroll: So fun.

[36:55] Ryan: It's been so fun.

[36:57] Emilee Carroll: We'll see you next time.

[36:58] Ryan: All right. Thank you.

[36:59] Emilee Carroll: Bye. I messaged. Let's see. Carrie Anne? Is Carrie Anne here?

[38:05] Carrie Anne: Yeah, I'm here.

[38:06] Emilee Carroll: Oh, Carrie Anne!

[38:10] Carrie Anne: Hey!

[38:12] Emilee Carroll: Oh my goodness. Carrie Anne, thank you so much for being here. How are you doing?

[38:16] Carrie Anne: I'm doing well. How are you?

[38:18] Emilee Carroll: Doing really great. How do you feel about that competition?

[38:22] Carrie Anne: The correct decision was made.

[38:24] Emilee Carroll: Let's go.

[38:26] Carrie Anne: Yeah, "Happy Days" is, like, should have gone through and did. I don't really have, yeah, sorry. I'm a little freaking out. I'm really happy to be here. Thank you.

[38:40] Emilee Carroll: Oh my gosh. The pleasure's all mine. Yeah.

[38:44] Carrie Anne: Yeah. I don't really have an opinion on "On My Own," though. Like, it's good.

[38:50] Emilee Carroll: But you're a "Happy Days" truther.

[38:52] Carrie Anne: Yeah. Like, season one has never been my favourite, I guess.

[38:58] Emilee Carroll: But I will say, like, when was the last time that you watched the pilot, Carrie Anne?

[39:04] Carrie Anne: Recently enough, because I started a rewatch.

[39:08] Emilee Carroll: Yeah.

[39:09] Carrie Anne: And then I got to, like, "Throwdown" and got sidetracked and didn't keep going.

[39:14] Emilee Carroll: "Throwdown."

[39:16] Carrie Anne: Can I ask, what is your favourite season? Or do you have, like, an era that you like?

[39:21] Carrie Anne: Okay. When I start my rewatch, I start at "Britney-Britney."

[39:27] Emilee Carroll: Really?

[39:28] Carrie Anne: Because I love Clayne, and that's kind of where I want.

[39:32] Emilee Carroll: I'm so sorry to interrupt. Because "Audition" is, like, I don't know.

[39:35] Carrie Anne: "Audition" is not that one for you?

[39:37] Carrie Anne: No.

[39:38] Emilee Carroll: That's crazy. It's just one additional episode.

[39:41] Carrie Anne: I don't think I've seen "Auditions" in a really long time.

[39:44] Emilee Carroll: But "New York's" are not, um, what is that? Not "New York State of Mind." The other, "Empire State of Mind." I know it's a, people hate it, but it's a good jam.

[39:53] Carrie Anne: It's okay. It's on the playlist, so it can't be that bad.

[39:58] Emilee Carroll: I will say that, like, I completely, in preparation for the Heather Morris episode, I like listened back to all of her, like, iconic lines. I completely forgot about the iconic Britney line from that first scene of "People Thought I Went on Vacation, but I actually spent the summer lost in the sewer." And I think that, actually, that might be the best Britney line that's home in "Audition."

[40:19] Carrie Anne: Yeah.

[40:20] Emilee Carroll: You're missing out.

[40:21] Carrie Anne: Yeah, I'm, yeah, I think I'm due for a re-watch, even though, like, I'm always re-watching episodes periodically.

[40:30] Emilee Carroll: Carrie-Anne, thank you so much for being here with us this evening. I would love to know what makes you so upset when listening to this podcast, if any competitions have not sat right with you.

[40:43] Carrie Anne: So, very, like, top of my glocket is "Don't Dream It's Over."

[40:49] Emilee Carroll: Ooh.

[40:50] Carrie Anne: And that was kicked out in round one.

[40:52] Emilee Carroll: That was a hard, that was-

[40:53] Carrie Anne: Like, "rehab."

[40:54] Emilee Carroll: Yes, I was mad about that.

[40:56] Carrie Anne: Mad, mad, mad, mad, mad.

[40:58] Emilee Carroll: I'm right with you, Carrie-Anne.

[40:59] Carrie Anne: Yeah, I would, I will kill "rehab" if it comes, just to get them to-

[41:03] Emilee Carroll: Wait, I'm right with you, you and me.

[41:06] Carrie Anne: Wait, Carrie-Anne, to build up the analogy of killing "rehab," what is your method of murder?

[41:13] Carrie Anne: Just, I don't know, whatever the heck it's against, I don't care.

[41:16] Emilee Carroll: No, I mean, no, I'm talking, just building up the analogy, are you a gun girl? Are you a knife? Are you a strangle?

[41:23] Carrie Anne: Oh.

[41:24] Emilee Carroll: You know, like-

[41:25] Carrie Anne: Um, let's strangle her, why not?

[41:28] Emilee Carroll: Yeah, choke the life out of her.

[41:31] Carrie Anne: Okay, yeah.

[41:31] Emilee Carroll: And then in round two of the glocket, it killed "Roots Before Branches," which also, like, how?

[41:38] Carrie Anne: Right.

[41:39] Emilee Carroll: I don't know, "rehab" can just go.

[41:41] Carrie Anne: I think that the pilot, similarly with, like, "On My Own," I just re-watched the pilot, like, a few months ago, and, like, I was, like, I was really, I was like, I thought I knew this pilot, like, front and back, and I did. But, like, watching it fully, it is so special, and like, both "rehab" and "On My Own," so, so, so special.

[42:04] Emilee Carroll: Oh my god, I forgot "rehab" was in the pilot, sorry.

[42:08] Carrie Anne: Yeah, so, I think, I don't know, watch your mouth, watch your mouth.

[42:14] Emilee Carroll: Okay, I'm sorry.

[42:15] Carrie Anne: No, you're fine, you're fine. What else are you thinking?

[42:20] Carrie Anne: "It's All Over," lost to "Jump," that I'm angry about.

[42:23] Emilee Carroll: "It's All Over" is so, so good.

[42:25] Carrie Anne: It's really, really perfect, I would say so as well.

[42:27] Emilee Carroll: It's so good.

[42:29] Carrie Anne: I expressed many of my feelings on that on my last time I was here, because I am right there with you.

[42:33] Emilee Carroll: Yeah, saying, like, mer-solos, whatever, guys, it's not really a mer-solo, but like, "It's All Over" is so, so good. I think it's perfect.

[42:45] Carrie Anne: With everyone else jumping in and having their own part, yeah.

[42:49] Emilee Carroll: The perfect utilization of Mike Chang as well.

[42:53] Carrie Anne: I'm just breaking into this business.

[42:54] Emilee Carroll: Yes, yes, yes. Incredible.

[42:57] Carrie Anne: And he sounds so good.

[42:59] Emilee Carroll: Um, yeah, I don't think I have any more. That's pretty much it. Like, "The Boy Is Mine," I'm sad it's gone.

[43:05] Carrie Anne: That was actually my first Patreon vote back.

[43:08] Emilee Carroll: Okay.

[43:10] Carrie Anne: The last episode's "Disco Inferno," "We Are Young." I don't care for "Disco Inferno."

[43:15] Emilee Carroll: Not my favorite mer-solo.

[43:18] Carrie Anne: So I would have gone "We Were Young." And I think that's it.

[43:23] Emilee Carroll: Hey.

[43:24] Carrie Anne: Yeah.

[43:25] Emilee Carroll: Carrie-Anne, I guess in the grand scheme of things, that's maybe like eight competitions that really made you mad?

[43:32] Carrie Anne: In over hundreds that have happened? I think that's pretty good odds.

[43:35] Emilee Carroll: Yeah, pretty good ratio.

[43:38] Carrie Anne: Yeah.

[43:39] Emilee Carroll: So what do you want to see, Carrie-Anne, with this competition?

[43:43] Carrie Anne: Um, so I, well, of course, would like to kill "rehab," because why not?

[43:49] Carrie Anne: "Bitch Is Back," "One Less Bell To Answer," "A House Is Not A Home," "Paradise By The Ashboard Lights," and then I want "The Scientist." We were talking about, or you were talking about that earlier, and "The Scientist" is just so good.

[44:00] Emilee Carroll: Me too. Of the ones that you just listed, what is kind of, what is top of list? What is the, what is your favorite of those?

[44:12] Carrie Anne: Those are really good ones. I want to talk about "Paradise," just because the, I'm just going to jump ahead. The, the, like, Mike Chang-Blaine thing is always mentioned.

[44:25] Emilee Carroll: Yes.

[44:26] Carrie Anne: But the, like, the Quinn disappearing at the very beginning, I think we need to elaborate on that.

[44:30] Emilee Carroll: Quinn disappearing at the very beginning?

[44:35] Carrie Anne: She disappears?

[44:35] Emilee Carroll: Yeah, there's, they all run in to the scene, and then someone just disappears. And I'm pretty sure it's Quinn.

[44:43] Carrie Anne: Like, it looks like an AI thing, where, like, they, like, disappear, like, like, it's another shot or something, where it like,

[44:49] Emilee Carroll: It's another shot, and there's only four of them.

[44:51] Carrie Anne: There's, like, five of them that run in, and then it pans over to them sitting down, and there's only four.

[44:57] Emilee Carroll: We gotta pull it.

[44:58] Carrie Anne: It's, I gotta see this.

[45:00] Emilee Carroll: We need to see this, actually.

[45:03] Carrie Anne: We need to see this.

[45:06] Emilee Carroll: Um, okay. It's gonna be this one.

[45:12] Carrie Anne: No, it's not.

[45:13] Emilee Carroll: No.

[45:15] Carrie Anne: Anywhere near?

[45:16] Emilee Carroll: I actually forgot that this was in here.

[45:19] Carrie Anne: I, like, this, I am so sorry. This is not going to be a competition for the history books.

[45:26] Emilee Carroll: That's okay. I'm glad to be here.

[45:29] Carrie Anne: Okay, audio-medium, we're looking at Artie.

[45:32] Emilee Carroll: Um, shot in the dark.

[45:35] Carrie Anne: There, it's in the choir room. Finn and Rachel are back there, right?

[45:40] Emilee Carroll: Yeah.

[45:41] Carrie Anne: No, that's actually Quinn and Finn.

[45:45] Emilee Carroll: That's Quinn and Finn.

[45:46] Carrie Anne: So this is season two.

[45:50] Emilee Carroll: Yeah, it looks...

[45:52] Carrie Anne: No, it's season one. I would be actually really surprised if you were able to get this.

[46:00] Emilee Carroll: Do you want me to just tell you what it is?

[46:01] Carrie Anne: I don't think I'm gonna get it.

[46:02] Emilee Carroll: Wait, Emily, you have a thought.

[46:03] Emilee Carroll: Sure.

[46:05] Carrie Anne: I don't know. They're giggling because it's gonna be a silly performance. I'm just gonna let you know. It is...

[46:12] Emilee Carroll: Nope, that's season two. Nevermind.

[46:13] Carrie Anne: Nope, you go. Go, go, go.

[46:15] Carrie Anne: It is "Endless Love."

[46:18] Emilee Carroll: Oh.

[46:20] Carrie Anne: I saw this when I was going through the list. Crazy, she's still here.

[46:25] Emilee Carroll: I make the list and I forgot this is on it.

[46:30] Carrie Anne: Okay. So I thought that I knew that song. I was like trying to like sing along, but like I actually don't think I know the words of the song.

[46:37] Emilee Carroll: I don't know what just happened.

[46:39] Carrie Anne: I do.

[46:41] Emilee Carroll: That was, um, interesting.

[46:47] Carrie Anne: Okay, but I think that like, okay, say something nice about this song challenge. Every once in a while, we pull a song where everyone wants to be in a stinky mood about the entire song. We're gonna go around the room.

[46:58] Emilee Carroll: Okay, fair. Say one nice thing about this, about this song. Carrie-Anne, would you like to start?

[47:03] Carrie Anne: Sure. They sound good.

[47:05] Emilee Carroll: They sound good.

[47:06] Carrie Anne: Like, I can't deny that they don't, like, they sound good. But also like, what is going on?

[47:11] Emilee Carroll: The nice thing I'll say is that I liked, um, the character reactions. I thought that was really funny. And yeah, they do sound good together. And it is really funny because this is probably shortly after Lea Michele and Matthew Morrison dated in real life.

[47:32] Carrie Anne: Yes, yeah.

[47:34] Emilee Carroll: So it kind of makes me laugh now looking at it. But again, this is one of those things that you look at through your elder gleek eyes and you're like, barf. Like, extra barf.

[47:49] Carrie Anne: Wait, wait, wait, why?

[47:52] Emilee Carroll: Because extra barf because of the, of the history, glitchery repeating itself?

[47:56] Carrie Anne: Yeah, like, I just, I don't know. Something about it, like, because they're not that different in age in real life, right? But something about it, like, I mean, obviously, like, he's not advancing on her. But it's like, I don't know, something about it, like, even like the whole Miss Pillsbury thing, where they're like, so enamored with him. Like, he's this frickin' celebrity, like, this, like, god. And I'm just like, ew, like, Emma, come on. Like, ew, Emma, do better. Like, do better. Like, a young girl, like, you are the guidance counselor. Do better. This is not good.

[48:29] Carrie Anne: The glitz and glam. It's getting to the best of them.

[48:33] Emilee Carroll: He's not that cute.

[48:35] Carrie Anne: I mean, Matthew Morrison is a very attractive man. And if he was my teacher, I would be like, yeah, he's a good looking guy. But like, yuck. Like, yuck.

[48:43] Emilee Carroll: This is a hard sell for me, because I think he's a very, very attractive man.

[48:49] Carrie Anne: I mean, he is. I have nothing, right, right, I know. But like, I don't know. I'm not gonna, I'm not gonna, I'm not gonna get my point to you. Because you're just like, you are Emma. You are Emma.

[49:00] Emilee Carroll: I know. I'm just like, wow, that was, what is it? What does Rachel say at the end of "Young Girl"? "Don't stand so close to me." And she's like, "I'm a very young girl." And you find it very hard to stand close to me.

[49:15] Carrie Anne: It's just really perfect. And also, I really love that my exercise to both of you was to say something nice. And they, both of your compliments about this song have ended in something negative about the song. So it's like, we just got right back to square one.

[49:31] Emilee Carroll: Yeah. Do we know what this beat?

[49:34] Carrie Anne: Yeah, that I need to know.

[49:36] Emilee Carroll: So I looked it up while the performance was happening. In round one of the Glockett, it beat "Story of My Life," the Clayne duet from season five.

[49:45] Carrie Anne: Yeah, I don't know. I think the right choice is made on that one. Because I'm not a big Clayner, but Carrie Anne, you are.

[49:52] Carrie Anne: So I do like myself. Yeah, I do like Clayne. Although I'm not always a big fan of their vocals together. My favorite is "I Just Can't Get Enough." And I'm pretty...

[50:01] Emilee Carroll: Was that round two? Did that one die in round two?

[50:03] Carrie Anne: That was round one.

[50:05] Emilee Carroll: That was round one? I think that was "Defying Gravity" season one, took it out.

[50:10] Carrie Anne: Is that okay? That's okay. Sure.

[50:12] Emilee Carroll: I'll give it a sure.

[50:17] Carrie Anne: And then in round two, this beat, and this doesn't sit well with me. "Mary's Little Boy Child."

[50:26] Emilee Carroll: Stop.

[50:27] Carrie Anne: Okay, you know, I usually don't care for the Christmas songs, famously. And I heard "Christmas Rapping." I heard "Christmas Rapping" today, and I turned it off immediately. I was ringing bells for the Salvation Army today outside. So I came on and I'm like, nope. But anyways, that song, I mean, talk about a campy, fun, iconic. They're having so much fun. Ugh. I love when Melissa Benoist can just be a goofy girl, which she is.

[50:59] Emilee Carroll: Yes! Fun.

[51:02] Carrie Anne: Yeah, it doesn't... That's not right. But like, also, "Endless Love," for me, my turn to say something nice about this song.

[51:09] Emilee Carroll: Yes, your turn.

[51:11] Carrie Anne: I think that it exemplifies an era of glomity, glee comedy, from season one, that is never quite... It's a different tone, comedy-wise, as the series continues.

[51:28] Emilee Carroll: I'd agree.

[51:29] Carrie Anne: But this is very thought out. I think that they... I just think it was such a good episode to highlight, specifically, Lea Michele, funny girl. And I mean funny girl, not Barbra Streisand. I'm talking just about being a funny woman. And I think that she really gets to highlight that in this episode. She really gets to do her damn thing.

[51:53] Emilee Carroll: Yeah, I agree. That is true. That is very, very true. And I think that she has a line that I guess I never caught with my non-elder gleek eyes before watching this time around. But there was a line where she says, "I've never really noticed because I'm like, he's always trying to ruin my career, but he's actually really cute." I'm like, perfect, perfect line.

[52:22] Carrie Anne: But I do think that this is a set up.

[52:24] Emilee Carroll: "Endless Love." I think we've seen her for the last time.

[52:28] Carrie Anne: Yes, please.

[52:29] Emilee Carroll: Yeah, I hope so. Let's not put another gleek through that.

[52:34] Carrie Anne: I don't know what, at this point, I don't know what would go home in contention with this.

[52:42] Ryan: Well, how about "rehab"?

[52:44] Carrie Anne: Oh, I wrote in my notes, I said, if "rehab" is pulled against this, I think it can stay. At least "rehab" is good, but it just has bad competitions.

[52:57] Emilee Carroll: And I need vengeance.

[53:00] Carrie Anne: This is crazy. Last song of the episode.

[53:06] Emilee Carroll: She, I'm talking about Mercedes Jones. She has, you know how like in the Hunger Games where like they have like sponsors sending them like gifts to help them. She has so, like she has glad looking out for her because this just doesn't make any sense anymore. A beautiful song. I can't wait to talk about her. Actually, in fact, I believe that Emily, you were here for the last time that we saw this.

[53:37] Emilee Carroll: Oh.

[53:38] Carrie Anne: Do you know what this is?

[53:38] Emilee Carroll: Is this "Someday We'll Be Together"?

[53:39] Carrie Anne: It is "Someday We'll Be Together."

[53:40] Emilee Carroll: I was here.

[53:41] Carrie Anne: Yeah.

[53:42] Emilee Carroll: Yeah, yeah.

[53:43] Carrie Anne: I'm obsessed with this song.

[53:47] Emilee Carroll: Oh my god, it's so good. I just feel every time that I listen to it, I'm like, wait a minute. She really cooked. Like, I feel like we're not, we're not thinking about it because I feel like it was from series finale, season six generally.

[54:00] Carrie Anne: Yeah.

[54:01] Emilee Carroll: So good. Incredible. God, that's so good. I love how like everyone looks so happy watching their friend succeed, right? Like everyone just looks.

[54:11] Carrie Anne: Yeah.

[54:11] Emilee Carroll: She's opening for Beyonce. Yeah, somehow, whatever.

[54:16] Carrie Anne: That's not a thing though.

[54:17] Emilee Carroll: Spend our just week for a bit. We're gonna let her, we're gonna let her believe that though.

[54:26] Carrie Anne: No, I'm obsessed with this. I, I was thinking about just like more solos just in general, this entire performance, though. Oh my god, it's just, it's getting out of hand, actually, I think.

[54:37] Carrie Anne: Yeah.

[54:38] Emilee Carroll: She's really racking them up. My favorite more solo though, isn't in the glacket.

[54:43] Carrie Anne: Is it "Don't Make Me Over"?

[54:44] Emilee Carroll: "Don't Make Me Over."

[54:46] Carrie Anne: Yeah.

[54:47] Emilee Carroll: Taste.

[54:48] Carrie Anne: Taste. That's the, it's so good. It's so good. Perfect. I feel like I remember she did like a live version, maybe like a year or two ago. Do you remember this?

[54:56] Carrie Anne: Did she?

[54:57] Emilee Carroll: She like, she performed it. I think that like, why do I feel like she performed it for Dionne Warwick somewhere?

[55:06] Carrie Anne: Yeah.

[55:07] Emilee Carroll: I believe that. I'm not making this up. I'm not making this up.

[55:11] Carrie Anne: "Someday We'll Be Together." Incredible. Also, I, a lot of the conversation in the chat has been around Artie's jacket.

[55:21] Emilee Carroll: Artie's jacket. Can we, sorry, can we pan back to the jacket? After reading those, I was like, wait a sec. I didn't get to see it.

[55:26] Carrie Anne: Absolutely. We're gonna, we're gonna go on back to, back to the jacket. All I could see is Kurt's, I remember this now that when I watch this, because it's Kurt's half sweater.

[55:38] Emilee Carroll: It was the Battle of the Half Sweaters.

[55:40] Carrie Anne: Yeah. Versus "Perfect." But yeah, that is the jacket.

[55:43] Emilee Carroll: Oh, okay. I want it. It's so fun. Someone, who is this? Jake in the chat said, title of ep is "Arty and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat."

[55:56] Carrie Anne: Absolutely. I don't think I like this jacket.

[55:59] Emilee Carroll: Do you?

[56:00] Carrie Anne: I like it. He's really trying something.

[56:02] Emilee Carroll: I like it, but I don't think I like it on him. It kind of feels like preschool teacher.

[56:11] Carrie Anne: It's, I feel like it's, it's more like Blaine.

[56:15] Emilee Carroll: Is it?

[56:15] Carrie Anne: Right. That's what I mean. Like, it feels like it's from someone else's wardrobe, but I like it. It's just not Arty.

[56:23] Emilee Carroll: Film school Arty. Like, I don't know what the hell this is. It's just like, Arty really has some iconic outfits throughout the entire series. Like some that are like, Elias like watched and was like, wait, actually, I need to add this to my closet. And sure enough, the horse jacket, there's like a sweater that he wears in one episode of like a desert with like pyramids. It's very, I have that. But like, this is not a good one. I would be upset if he wanted this, actually.

[57:00] Carrie Anne: Yeah.

[57:01] Emilee Carroll: I think the best part of this is the frame you stopped it on because Sam in the background is having some fun listening to Mercedes.

[57:04] Carrie Anne: Going wild.

[57:05] Emilee Carroll: Yeah. Wild. Okay. "Someday We'll Be Together." What do we need to say?

[57:09] Carrie Anne: For me, this is not my favorite Mer Solo. I don't dislike it. It's just one I kind of forget about. And I think I said this last time, too, that it's not a bad Mer Solo because there are no bad Mer Solos. I can't think of one. But it's just one that like, I don't know, I'm maybe I'm just not as familiar with the song. I mean, I know it, but like, I feel like I connect more with songs that I, I don't know. Something about it just doesn't like, I'm like, that was it for her big finale.

[57:44] Carrie Anne: The theater person in me always wonders who's doing the follow spot that follows her up the stairs. Because I'm like...

[57:49] Emilee Carroll: Wait, let's build a canon. Who do we think it is?

[57:56] Carrie Anne: I don't know. It's got to be the A.V. Club from, you know, "Rolling in the Deep."

[58:00] Emilee Carroll: I think it might be Becky.

[58:02] Carrie Anne: Oh, I like Becky in there.

[58:04] Emilee Carroll: Because like, I feel like Becky, Becky did like the snow for "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas."

[58:10] Carrie Anne: She knows her way around the auditorium.

[58:14] Emilee Carroll: I was thinking the A.V. Club, the "Rolling in the Deep."

[58:18] Carrie Anne: Oh yeah, yeah, yeah. They're still around.

[58:21] Emilee Carroll: Oh, Lorne Zicey's, Zicey's with the spotlight.

[58:24] Carrie Anne: Yeah, I love. But no, it's not bad. It's beautiful, right? She's doing her thing.

[58:30] Emilee Carroll: Yeah, she's got the pipes. This is quintessential Mercedes Jones, right? This, again, kind of like we're talking "On My Own" was the, this is the package of Rachel. This is a great example of Mercedes Jones.

[58:47] Carrie Anne: Do you think that this is the package?

[58:49] Emilee Carroll: I don't think that this is the package of Mercedes. I don't think it's the full package. But I think that it's like, I came here, I do the choir thing. Yeah, I blow the roof off. She's doing, she's doing the thing.

[59:01] Carrie Anne: Right?

[59:01] Emilee Carroll: She's doing the thing. It's not like this isn't the summary. This isn't the, this is all there is to Mercedes Jones. But it's definitely like a good like finale, right? Like Mercedes out.

[59:12] Carrie Anne: I went to go check my Spotify rap because I wanted to see what Mer Solo was my top. And it is, and I'm telling you, I'm not going.

[59:20] Emilee Carroll: That there we go.

[59:21] Carrie Anne: So that's apparently what 2025 me was listening to most of Mercedes.

[59:28] Emilee Carroll: Hey, not a bad one.

[59:29] Carrie Anne: Not a bad one. Um, I wanted to bring up Oh, um, Amber Riley did like an interview, maybe a few months ago, where I think it was like with Bob the drag queen where Bob asked it like, if she would be interested in doing a glee boot, I'm obviously bringing it up because she's saying "Someday We'll Be Together." And I'm like, Oh, I don't know about this. Because she did say there is not enough money for her to do it. Like she would not actually do it even if there

[1:01:00] Emilee Carroll: Maybe she's a mentor for, you know, an episode every season or something.

[1:01:06] Ryan: But yeah, I don't need her to be in the school in every episode.

[1:01:12] Carianne: Sure. She doesn't need to be a teacher, right?

[1:01:14] Ryan: Yeah, no, no, no. She canonically toured with Beyoncé. I don't think it would make sense for her to be back.

[1:01:19] Emilee Carroll: Yeah.

[1:01:22] Ryan: When I think of a Glee boot, I always, I never think of really a series, but I'm always thinking like, a movie of like, a class reunion, like 20 years later.

[1:01:33] Emilee Carroll: I want that. I think more than I want a new series.

[1:01:38] Ryan: I like that. And then I want to see kids, right? Like, I want to see like, their kids.

[1:01:43] Carianne: Like, I want to see like, if their kids are in high school together, or, and that could be a really good spinoff of even like, these are the people who are still in the Lima area, or maybe someone moves back to Lima and has like, it's like someone's child's story. You know, there's just so much young up and coming talent that it would be really cool to do it again, like Glee did it with a whole new cast where these people kind of like, high school musical, the series, did where they brought back in like, like Lucas Grabiel and like, you know, things like that, where they kind of were like, this isn't our story anymore, but it's still like, the threads are there.

[1:02:29] Ryan: Right. I want to know like, one or two people of like, the Glee club or, you know, like, it's like, I don't need to know them fully. It's just like, oh, I remember hearing that they were really good in Heathers or something.

[1:02:39] Emilee Carroll: Right, or yeah, like a Broadway or an off Broadway, you know, something like that, kind of like how Lea Michele was like, if you were in the theatre world, and you knew Spring Awakening, you knew who she was.

[1:02:52] Ryan: Yeah, yeah.

[1:02:53] Emilee Carroll: But then yeah, definitely became this huge.

[1:02:56] Ryan: Right. Yeah.

[1:03:00] Emilee Carroll: Anyway, I think, well, if we were to pie in the sky, what year are we getting Gleeboot?

[1:03:07] Ryan: It's canon, we are getting one, right?

[1:03:09] Emilee Carroll: Oh, it's we've got to.

[1:03:11] Ryan: Yeah.

[1:03:12] Emilee Carroll: Well, when did it end? It ended in 2015.

[1:03:15] Carianne: 15. Yes.

[1:03:17] Emilee Carroll: I would say since it hasn't come back in the 10 year, I would 15.

[1:03:24] Ryan: Is it 2030? 2030 that we get a, or maybe 20. It started in 2009. So maybe 2029.

[1:03:33] Emilee Carroll: Maybe a 20 year from the start.

[1:03:35] Ryan: There we go. We're really, we're really working with numbers.

[1:03:39] Emilee Carroll: Yeah.

[1:03:40] Carianne: Sorry, I'm just gonna interject. You guys keep talking about elder Gleeks, or whatever.

[1:03:46] Ryan: So I wasn't born when the season started.

[1:03:50] Carianne: And I was six when the season ended. The pilot aired before I was born.

[1:03:56] Emilee Carroll: That's crazy.

[1:03:57] Ryan: My heart just stopped for a second there.

[1:04:01] Carianne: I'm sorry!

[1:04:02] Emilee Carroll: Oh my god.

[1:04:06] Ryan: Wild.

[1:04:08] Emilee Carroll: How did you find it?

[1:04:09] Carianne: I was watching a movie, and then ended up finishing the movie, like, early, and I didn't want to go to bed. So my mom was there. And she's like, so I used to watch this show when I was pregnant with you. And she's like, I think you'd love it. And then my mom introduced me to Glee.

[1:04:26] Emilee Carroll: Oh my god. Did your mom watch all the way through?

[1:04:28] Carianne: I don't think so. My dad said he did, but I have a really hard time believing that.

[1:04:33] Ryan: I'm sorry, my brain just short circuited for like a second.

[1:04:37] Carianne: That's crazy.

[1:04:38] Emilee Carroll: You're like pre Gleek. So we've got like, you know, we need like a timeline, like of the Glee ages. So we're the elder Gleeks.

[1:04:45] Ryan: Each Gleek was born.

[1:04:46] Carianne: You're like the pre Gleek. You're like a pre.

[1:04:49] Emilee Carroll: On this day in Glistory, Carrie-Anne was born.

[1:04:57] Ryan: Okay, so voting. Endless love versus someday we'll be together. What do we think?

[1:05:06] Carianne: Oh, so difficult.

[1:05:14] Emilee Carroll: Yeah, someday we'll be together.

[1:05:22] Ryan: Yeah, no, endless love can go.

[1:05:26] Emilee Carroll: Yeah. This is a three for three for someday we'll be together.

[1:05:30] Ryan: I think so. No, no pity votes needed.

[1:05:33] Emilee Carroll: No, I really love someday we'll be together.

[1:05:38] Ryan: I do too. It is really fun.

[1:05:39] Carianne: Do you think it's going to make it past next round though?

[1:05:41] Emilee Carroll: Um, no, I think we have better mer-solos.

[1:05:41] Ryan: Yeah, yep. It's going to depend though.

[1:05:45] Ryan: Yes, I agree.

[1:05:45] Emilee Carroll: It really is going to depend.

[1:05:46] Emilee Carroll: We need to be choosier with our mer-solos.

[1:05:46] Ryan: I mean, how about okay, wait, so I guess just based off the songs going through in this episode, it's obvious if these two songs were to go against each other, which would win, I would assume that we're all in agreement that someday we'll be together would lose.

[1:06:00] Emilee Carroll: Yes.

[1:06:01] Ryan: Yeah, yeah.

[1:06:02] Emilee Carroll: Oh, yeah.

[1:06:03] Ryan: Okay. Yeah, I think that someday we'll be together.

[1:06:07] Emilee Carroll: Lucky that you got through this round.

[1:06:09] Ryan: I'm watching you.

[1:06:12] Emilee Carroll: High alert.

[1:06:13] Ryan: High alert.

[1:06:14] Emilee Carroll: Beautiful song, but just kind of lost the time.

[1:06:17] Ryan: Yeah, she is good.

[1:06:18] Emilee Carroll: Yeah.

[1:06:20] Ryan: Kerianne, what an incredible lackluster competition that we've had with you today.

[1:06:27] Emilee Carroll: Um, thank you so much for joining us.

[1:06:30] Carianne: Yay.

[1:06:33] Emilee Carroll: Love to be back.

[1:06:35] Ryan: Thank you.

[1:06:36] Emilee Carroll: Bye.

[1:06:39] Ryan: Emily, in recap for this episode, we have, um, Happy Days are going to be here again.

[1:06:47] Emilee Carroll: And round four.

[1:06:48] Ryan: So get happy.

[1:06:50] Emilee Carroll: So get happy.

[1:06:51] Ryan: Sky's above, above a clear.

[1:06:54] Emilee Carroll: Above a clear.

[1:06:54] Ryan: Again.

[1:06:57] Emilee Carroll: On my own.

[1:06:59] Ryan: You are on your own.

[1:07:02] Emilee Carroll: In a path.

[1:07:03] Ryan: You're not quite on your own.

[1:07:06] Emilee Carroll: You have endless love.

[1:07:08] Ryan: Keeping you company.

[1:07:09] Emilee Carroll: In hell.

[1:07:12] Ryan: Someday we'll be together.

[1:07:14] Emilee Carroll: Someday we will be together.

[1:07:16] Ryan: And round four.

[1:07:18] Emilee Carroll: There it is.

[1:07:19] Ryan: Dumb.

[1:07:21] Emilee Carroll: Emily, you're not dumb.

[1:07:23] Ryan: You are one of the most intelligent people that I know.

[1:07:27] Emilee Carroll: Always a privilege.

[1:07:29] Ryan: And oh my gosh, all the things to talk with you.

[1:07:33] Emilee Carroll: Is there a call to action that you want the Gleeks to know about?

[1:07:36] Ryan: Well, you know, I'm always here and around.

[1:07:40] Emilee Carroll: I'm, you know, hanging out on those internets on Instagram and TikTok at emilyc17.

[1:07:47] Ryan: Always around.

[1:07:48] Emilee Carroll: But with the end of the year comes the end of, you know, anything that I'm working on.

[1:07:55] Ryan: I just cast a show literally today that I'm directing.

[1:07:58] Emilee Carroll: So congratulations.

[1:07:59] Ryan: Thank you.

[1:08:00] Emilee Carroll: That it goes up in March.

[1:08:01] Ryan: So more to come.

[1:08:03] Emilee Carroll: Closer to.

[1:08:05] Ryan: Hey, and if you're in the area, you've got to make your way.

[1:08:08] Emilee Carroll: You got to make your way.

[1:08:09] Ryan: Northeastern Wisconsin.

[1:08:11] Emilee Carroll: The Gleeks need to show out.

[1:08:13] Ryan: Um, wait, Ryan.

[1:08:16] Emilee Carroll: Wait, do you want to give a plug for your nonprofit?

[1:08:18] Ryan: Yes.

[1:08:18] Emilee Carroll: Come back on.

[1:08:20] Ryan: I appreciate it.

[1:08:21] Emilee Carroll: Yeah.

[1:08:22] Ryan: So I work for a nonprofit called the New York Video Game Critics Circle.

[1:08:27] Emilee Carroll: We're a nonprofit that does video game education.

[1:08:31] Ryan: So we teach students how to write through video games.

[1:08:34] Emilee Carroll: So we teach them narrative and journalism.

[1:08:37] Ryan: And we also host the New York Game Awards, which is at SVA Theater, which Andrew, you know, well.

[1:08:42] Emilee Carroll: Oh my God.

[1:08:43] Ryan: That's crazy.

[1:08:43] Emilee Carroll: Yeah.

[1:08:44] Ryan: That's where I went to school.

[1:08:45] Emilee Carroll: Yes, you did.

[1:08:46] Ryan: Which was exciting to hear on the podcast.

[1:08:49] Emilee Carroll: Yeah, we had January 17th and 18th.

[1:08:52] Ryan: We're doing what's called GG Fest, which is a series of live podcasts and panels.

[1:08:58] Emilee Carroll: And then the New York Game Awards on the 18th, which is honoring all the best games of the year.

[1:09:04] Ryan: And all the money that's raised goes back to our nonprofit that we use to help teach kids, give them access to technology and education around writing and all that kind of fun stuff.

[1:09:16] Emilee Carroll: That's so cool.

[1:09:18] Ryan: Send me all of that information.

[1:09:19] Emilee Carroll: I would love to personally go.

[1:09:21] Ryan: Yeah, we would love to have you.

[1:09:23] Emilee Carroll: That would be great.

[1:09:24] Ryan: Oh my gosh.

[1:09:24] Emilee Carroll: Fun.

[1:09:24] Ryan: My husband's a huge gamer.

[1:09:26] Emilee Carroll: So that is so cool.

[1:09:28] Ryan: Yeah.

[1:09:29] Emilee Carroll: Like my thing is Gleek and his thing is gaming.

[1:09:32] Ryan: So like.

[1:09:32] Emilee Carroll: And mine are both.

[1:09:33] Ryan: So we could all be friends.

[1:09:35] Emilee Carroll: Yay!

[1:09:35] Ryan: Best friends in the whole world.

[1:09:35] Emilee Carroll: Did I make it any more obvious?

[1:09:39] Ryan: Well, thank you so much.

[1:09:40] Emilee Carroll: That's really incredible work that you're doing.

[1:09:42] Ryan: Thank you so much.

[1:09:42] Emilee Carroll: I really appreciate it.

[1:09:43] Ryan: I appreciate you letting me jump back in.

[1:09:46] Emilee Carroll: Oh, of course.

[1:09:47] Ryan: And with that, this is the final episode of Gleek the Beat podcast for the year of 2025.

[1:09:53] Emilee Carroll: I'm really, really crazy.

[1:09:56] Ryan: And, hey, we'll be back with more Glacket, more episodes, more exciting things.

[1:10:04] Emilee Carroll: Manifest with me, Leigh and Michelle episode in 2026.

[1:10:07] Ryan: It's coming.

[1:10:08] Emilee Carroll: It's coming.

[1:10:10] Ryan: It's the time.

[1:10:12] Emilee Carroll: It's time.

[1:10:13] Ryan: That chess, Tony Press, is not going to Tony Press itself.

[1:10:17] Emilee Carroll: You know what I mean?

[1:10:18] Ryan: Absolutely.

[1:10:21] Emilee Carroll: Okay.

[1:10:21] Ryan: And then also, Becca, you're asking, do I have an answer for Heather Morris's assignment from last week?

[1:10:25] Emilee Carroll: The assignment was what my name would be and then also what my celebrity parents would be.

[1:10:32] Ryan: I'm pretty sure that was the assignment.

[1:10:35] Emilee Carroll: My name would be.

[1:10:38] Ryan: I see.

[1:10:38] Emilee Carroll: I did not actually put much thought into this.

[1:10:41] Ryan: Um, my name, Emily, do you have a do you have a name for me?

[1:10:45] Emilee Carroll: Um, yeah, I'm trying to think of one that's not a Glee name.

[1:10:50] Ryan: You just you're such an Andrew to me.

[1:10:52] Emilee Carroll: I think that I could.

[1:10:54] Ryan: Could I just be Andrew?

[1:10:54] Emilee Carroll: Could I just be Jacob Arnish again?

[1:10:57] Ryan: Is there an Andrew?

[1:10:59] Emilee Carroll: There's no Andrew.

[1:11:00] Ryan: No, but you're not an Andy.

[1:11:02] Emilee Carroll: That was my thing last time.

[1:11:04] Ryan: Someone was calling you Andy and I'm like, who the fuck is Andy?

[1:11:09] Emilee Carroll: I could be Andy.

[1:11:10] Ryan: You could be an Andy with an IE.

[1:11:12] Emilee Carroll: Um, and then my my parents.

[1:11:16] Ryan: OK, Bree says that she's got the dad because I've got the mom.

[1:11:19] Emilee Carroll: My mom would be.

[1:11:21] Ryan: Oh, Bree's saying dad is Keanu Reeves.

[1:11:24] Emilee Carroll: I can see it.

[1:11:25] Ryan: I see it.

[1:11:27] Emilee Carroll: I love that.

[1:11:28] Ryan: And then my mom would be, um, would be Allison Janney.

[1:11:34] Emilee Carroll: I need her to be my mom.

[1:11:35] Ryan: She's everybody's mom.

[1:11:36] Emilee Carroll: And so I need her to be mine.

[1:11:39] Ryan: Um, Allison Janney and Keanu Reeves.

[1:11:42] Emilee Carroll: Match made in heaven.

[1:11:43] Ryan: Perfect.

[1:11:43] Emilee Carroll: There we go.

[1:11:44] Ryan: Um, OK.

[1:11:46] Emilee Carroll: And with that, that's the actual end of the episode.

[1:11:48] Ryan: Until next time.

[1:11:49] Emilee Carroll: Until next year.

[1:11:50] Ryan: Thank you so much for listening.

[1:11:52] Emilee Carroll: OK, bye.

[1:11:55] Ryan: It's Gleek.
