[0:00] Andrew: We've got a mission to find the best song that's ever been on Glee. There's no rhyme or reason to it, so don't get mad at me. We've got Andrew and Allison who run the show of the Gleek of the Week, who's the head honcho. Glacket by Glacket will rank everyone to see which song will move closer to spot number one. Gleek of the Week, Gleek, Gleek, Gleek of the Week. It's Gleek, Gleek of the Week.

[0:44] Andrew: Hello everyone. Welcome to the third to last episode of Glacket Round Two. We're here to do some serious business today, and I am joined by none other than famous Glacketer and girl about town, Allison Dodge.

[0:58] Allison Dodge: Hey.

[0:59] Andrew: So what do you call the third to last episode? If the second to last episode is the penultimate, is this like the Triwizard Tournament?

[1:07] Allison Dodge: This is the Triwizard Tournament of the Glacket. The pen penultimate? Pen pen? Tren pen? I don't know. The penultimate to the penultimate. Christmas Eve Eve, if you will.

[1:21] Andrew: Right, right, right, right. Well, it's been a minute. I'm very excited. It's been a minute since we've last seen you on the Glacket, and I wanted to get you on one final time before round two is a thing of the past. But before we get into Glacketing discourse, I understand that there's some things that you wanted to discuss. So you have to have the floor.

[1:44] Allison Dodge: I just have to get off my chest. So for those of you who don't know, probably literally none of you, I've been doing my yoga sculpt teacher training. I've been taking yoga sculpt classes for like almost a year now, and I really love it. I really love the format of the class. It's like half yoga, half strength training, strength training like wrapped into yoga poses. And I've been taking my instructor training so that I can teach yoga sculpt to other people.

[2:17] Andrew: That's crazy. And can I just say before you go any further, you're constantly just—you're, to quote Clayne, you zig when I think you're gonna zag. You're constantly doing just like the craziest next thing. And you're, I don't know, it's very impressive. The fact that you can't be pigeonholed.

[2:38] Allison Dodge: Thank you. Thank you. No, nobody can put me in a box. No one can. But the whole bit of yoga sculpt is that you do a lot of the workout to the beat of music. And I've been listening to a bunch of like, I put on my playlist. I put on my—if you go on Spotify, and you Google or like Google, Google within Spotify.

[3:04] Andrew: Yeah.

[3:05] Allison Dodge: 180 beats per minute, 175 beats per minute. Oh, really? Generate a playlist for you that has songs with that BPM. If you're looking for a really good workout playlist, just type in 180 BPM. And it will give you the songs you already love that are great to like go for a run to.

[3:23] Andrew: Oh my gosh, I love that so much. I've been listening to the—like, you know, like there's remember, like, blame it on the pop, blame it on the dance, blame it on that.

[3:35] Allison Dodge: Yeah.

[3:36] Andrew: They made one for 2024. And I've been doing that while on the Stairmaster every day.

[3:42] Allison Dodge: So good. But like, also, I know what you mean, where it's like, there will come a point where I'm like, okay, now we're like, no, what is the Lady Gaga, Bruno Mars, like, the world was like, but when they do put pizza, you know, the one like that, that's like, oh, I'm finally like getting groove. I want it to be consistent.

[4:08] Allison Dodge: I like what you're getting at. It's—I think it's because like 99% of pop music is like a four, four.

[4:16] Andrew: Yeah. Sure.

[4:17] Allison Dodge: Like 123412. And that's gonna be important later on. This is gonna be on the quiz.

[4:23] Andrew: In my speech. So of course, anything that has to do with music, I have to be like, how can I make it Glee? And so I have made a playlist for a yoga sculpt class. Yoga sculpt is a 60-minute class, and I have made a playlist of Glee songs that I would teach yoga sculpt to.

[4:48] Allison Dodge: I don't want to release it. People in the chat are like, are you going to release it? Are you going to give it to us? Here's my pitch. And I'm doing this live on livestream to Andrew. I'm gonna run through the playlist now and like, play some samples and okay, in the vibe, but for a bonus episode, I want to like teach as a yoga class.

[5:07] Andrew: Oh, be so fun. That'd be a lot of fun. Use the Glee music. If that's something that people are interested in.

[5:14] Allison Dodge: Yeah, they're going crazy yoga class. Everybody's logo. Yes, yes, yes, yes. Okay, it'll be $25,000 a ticket. So start saving now.

[5:29] Andrew: You're already in. Exactly. Would you need screen sharing abilities?

[5:35] Allison Dodge: I'll just need sound capabilities.

[5:36] Andrew: Well, you have a baby. Thanks, babe. So imagine you're coming into yoga class, you're getting all settled down, you're putting your mat on the ground, you're kind of chit chatting with your neighbor. And I walk in. I walk in and I'm like, hi everyone. Welcome to your 607 yoga sculpt class.

[6:02] Allison Dodge: Yeah, we're gonna go ahead and get started in extended child's pose. Come to all fours on your mat. Bring your toes to touch at the back of your space. Open your knees wide. Bring your hips to your ankles and reach forward.

[6:14] Andrew: And this is what it's like.

[6:30] Allison Dodge: Oh, yeah. Perfect. Oh, wait, what time? What time of day?

[6:35] Andrew: I can't turn it down in my ears. I'm like, whoa, gotta compete with Churchill. This is so loud.

[6:43] Allison Dodge: You've come home from a day at work. And then you grabbed your gym stuff, came to Allison's yoga studio. Can I like not turn that down? Okay, I can't wait.

[6:50] Andrew: Yeah, it's going down.

[6:51] Allison Dodge: Okay, good. You're in extended child's pose. I'm saying we're going to use our breath as a tool for the 60 minutes. Weights are used in this class, but they're always optional. Feel free to modify any posture or exercise to fit your body. Take water breaks. If it isn't your practice today to set an intention, please flip your palms to the sky. Think about that person or thing that you want to dedicate the next 60 minutes on your mat to. When you're ready, shift forward to tabletop pose and we would get started.

[7:30] Andrew: So like that's like chill getting you into the class. And then we're going to start moving. We're going to breathe through several rounds of sun salutation A, so moving from mountain pose to forward fold to our first chaturanga, which is a high—it's a high to low plank. So you know, pretty much most people know what a plank position is. But we're moving from that position all the way through to a mountain pose. And we're getting started. We're getting big time started.

[8:04] Allison Dodge: Oh, because duh, because duh, you're here for a Glee class. You know what the fuck is going on? Are you actually going to do this?

[8:12] Andrew: I will do this for the patrons. That is not a joke. So Gloga needs to be trademarked. I really, really want to do this.

[8:18] Allison Dodge: So we're in mountain pose, forward fold, halfway lift, chaturanga. Inhale upward facing dog, exhale downward facing dog. But then we're going to move on. We're going to get start getting sweaty. We're going to get our weights involved. We're pumping up. We're pumping up.

[8:39] Andrew: Inhale chair pose. Sit your weight into your heels, your hips back, reach your arms above your head, your biceps framing your ears. And then we're going to move through warrior two, sun or star pose down to horse pose doing some squats.

[8:59] Allison Dodge: I mean, I'm already naturally doing this when I'm watching "Teenage Dream." I'm already like warrior two, warrior chaturanga. Like I'm already doing that. I'm in. And that wraps up the big, big yoga chunk of class.

[9:15] Andrew: Okay, because now, now we're gonna get to some pushups and biceps.

[9:23] Allison Dodge: Okay, we know. No, no, that's not it. Meet me on your mat and a basic pushup down. Meet me at your mat and a basic pushup. Down.

[9:36] Allison Dodge: Eight, seven, six. So good. And then we're gonna do bicep curls. Up, down, up, down. I'm off beat, but fuck it. We're gonna do three rounds of pushups, basic bicep curls, hammer curls, and wide arm curls to this. I need to know if anybody's following along and doing this right now. Because this is really great.

[10:06] Andrew: Okay. And then Emily said that she is.

[10:12] Allison Dodge: We're moving on to squat series. Meet me in standing at the back of your mat. And we're gonna start down, up, down.

[10:21] Andrew: This is so dumb.

[10:25] Allison Dodge: Because you know, we had to do it. Can you handle this? Can you handle this?

[10:33] Andrew: We're gonna do three rounds of squats. And pulse, pulse, pulse, and hold. Hold your squat.

[10:42] Allison Dodge: Hold your squat. Four, three, two, one. Down, up.

[10:51] Andrew: Because of course, but duh. I don't, I don't think I'm ready for this jelly.

[10:57] Allison Dodge: They're not. They're not at all. No. But then, so we've worked arms, we've worked biceps, we've worked our booty. I think we're ready for some cardio. And I think we're ready to do some jumping jacks. And some burpees. Some skaters and some high knees, bitch.

[11:17] Andrew: We're gonna do jumping jacks to the window in eight, seven, six, five, four, three, two, one.

[11:27] Allison Dodge: Wait, like this?

[11:30] Andrew: I'm just doing a half.

[11:38] Allison Dodge: That's gonna get our heart rate the fuck up. Just a few seconds of that. I'm already there.

[11:44] Andrew: Exactly. And then slow it down. Active recovery. Grab a sip of water. We're gonna start, meet me at the front of your mat. Inhale, exhale, lunge. Step your right foot back for four minutes.

[12:10] Allison Dodge: Oh. Up, down. Up, down. Up, down. Up, down.

[12:19] Andrew: This is so fun.

[12:23] Allison Dodge: Pulse. Pulse. And hold. Hold. Hold.

[12:30] Andrew: And then we're gonna do two minutes of this song on one side, two minutes on the other side.

[12:35] Allison Dodge: Okay. And you have worked out your thighs, baby. You have worked out your thighs, your booty, you are cardioed up. Let's move on to sculpt series.

[12:40] Allison Dodge: Sculpt series is basically going back to our sunbee, but we're adding, like if we're in chair pose, we're gonna add a push. I don't know what this is.

[12:47] Andrew: Audio medium.

[12:48] Allison Dodge: What are you doing? Audio medium. I, my hands are at a goalpost position and then they move up. Uh-huh. My instructor would be really sad that I don't know what this is, but it's up, down with both hands. And we're gonna, we're gonna get started with a banger. Up, down. Up, down.

[13:01] Andrew: I feel like I'm going to war.

[13:11] Allison Dodge: You are. Yoga sculpt is a war training class. This has to be fucked around with. But then we're gonna move on to sculpt series one, which is just sculpt series on the right side with.

[13:25] Andrew: Okay.

[13:26] Allison Dodge: Okay. Warrior two. It's kind of a deep cut. I like this. Lat pulls, lat pulls, lat pulls. Out, in, out, in. Thank you. Shoulder presses is what I was looking for earlier. Thank you. Out, in, out, in. I'm curious how this is going to translate to an audio medium. And I'm really excited to just listen to the audio later. I have no idea.

[13:53] Allison Dodge: So we're gonna I have two sister songs you should be dancing and then we're gonna move to the left side. Not that song with for this. I'm not gonna teach your boyfriend how to dance. You should be the dancing blow. Yeah. Mm-hmm. Exactly. Now we're on the other side left side. We're doing lunch trays. One two three four. Yep, okay, you've got it. This is great. Thank you for humoring me. This is fun.

[14:36] Allison Dodge: Okay, chill out chill out take a sip of water come down to your knees. We're gonna be on our mats for the rest of class. Okay, we're moving on to supine glutes. Bend your knees. We're gonna be lifting our hips up and down up and down for this song right up down up down. Supine glutes exactly to the beach way. Supine supine glutes to core. So we're gonna be doing some crunches. This is the glass we're doing yoga sculpt.

[15:59] Allison Dodge: Oh, and hold hold hold for three two one. Yes. Okay, now we're gonna chill out. We're gonna chill out. Okay, we've done the bulk of our work. We're gonna chill out with some stretching supine half pigeon and supine half twist with this song. Bring that heart rate down everybody bring that heart rate down take a sip of water or just stretching everybody. And I will be singing along in class.

[16:29] Andrew: As you should you should honestly just play the instrumental and just you sing.

[16:35] Allison Dodge: Honestly, I'm it might carry it. And surely I'm gonna get you sobbing because we finish the class with a couple of minutes in final shavasana, which is basically where you're just sitting like like you're in a coffin and you're just closed eyes breathing bring your heart rate down meditating and we're gonna finish with this song. Oh God. This is crazy just in a quiet a dead silent room.

[17:18] Andrew: Leaks I would cry I can't meditate to this.

[17:27] Allison Dodge: And you are right we're gonna we're gonna end in fetal position as a sign of rebirth using our bicep as a pillow and when you're ready push up to a seated position. Bring your hands to heart center bring your thumbs to third eye center and we close our practice with namaste.

[17:48] Andrew: That was really incredible. How long have you been sitting on this?

[17:55] Allison Dodge: Uh all day. I've been thinking about this all day and I made it this morning that and was very good wait, um, are we gonna do this when I come for your birthday later this month, I think?

[18:07] Andrew: Absolutely. I think that we absolutely should I think that should be a group birthday activity for you.

[18:14] Allison Dodge: Everybody's legally obligated to come to my birthday party, and it's just me leading a global global. I think we should.

[18:23] Andrew: Okay, I'm down all right anytime I'm trying I'm trying to like think of ways I'm like I'm like should I make that like a carousel slide of everything that you went through that feels like a lot to to do but I'm like there there is something to do here that could be translated into a social post, you know, just just pick out a photo of a room full of people practicing yoga and like slap my face at the front as well as like mercedes arty.

[18:52] Allison Dodge: Uh-huh. Uh-huh. I think and you uh-huh, of course. Uh-huh. Um, that was really great. The gleeks loved it. Give it up.

[19:01] Andrew: Allison Dodge everybody constantly raising the bar and doing it flawlessly. Um, but I want to know in which ways have we not rose the bar with um the glacket and that's it just go ahead with your glacket hot takes queen.

[19:18] Allison Dodge: That's a good that's a good question. So in the spirit of yoga and meditation and it's a new year I was I listened to a couple of episodes and I listened to the gleek of the week remaining songs playlist and I was like, you know what? I don't want to come in here with any negativity. I don't want to come in here and say andrew you should go to jail because I don't think that you should go to jail.

[19:47] Andrew: No, if it was coming from you, I think that like it's fine.

[19:51] Allison Dodge: I understand if you if you want to send me to jail go send me to jail. I don't think you should I don't think that you should go to jail. I have a bunch of competitions that I love that I'm so happy. They turned out the way they did. You and I made some mistakes in round one. Let's be real and I think that the glacket gets like better for it, you know, yeah, yeah, we've got some more variety.

[20:14] Allison Dodge: But I think there are some competitions that have happened this round that have righted some wrongs.

[20:22] Andrew: Okay, I'm excited.

[20:26] Allison Dodge: Yeah. Um, so and this is not one of them. I do think these are both great songs, but I am very happy to see that just the way you are season two lost to being alive being alive.

[20:36] Andrew: Okay, that makes me very happy being alive deserves a round three spot.

[20:43] Allison Dodge: Duh. I mean it was looking in terms of colos. It was looking like Rose's turn was going to be the only one making it to round three but I think that at this point we have we have three colos and I think that that's like really great and I know that you're in the middle of your your glack at hot takes but I just want to bring up something that's been on my mind this past week um, which is as of last week's recording the fact that only one artolo is making it to round three, which doesn't sit right with my spirit um, it really is sick and twisted and the fact that never going back again, yes, that is a great representation of arty.

[21:24] Andrew: I just wish that we had a little bit more representation of maybe so some would say.

[21:28] Allison Dodge: But it's crazy to me that he has as much representation going to round three as rory. He doesn't have a brother.

[21:35] Andrew: Right. He needs to have a brother.

[21:39] Allison Dodge: He's better odds. It's it's he needs better odds and I do have just some introspective comments about the blackhead as a whole that I want to talk about later, but okay.

[21:49] Andrew: Um, closer versus honesty.

[21:53] Allison Dodge: I honesty stands out to me as what were we doing in round one? Honesty, I know what we were doing in round one. I know what you were doing with honesty in round one. That was the taisha monique clark episode and and that was against everybody talks by jake and kitty and like I was like, obviously everybody talks but then like you and taisha were like no no no honesty.

[22:18] Andrew: Don't really know why.

[22:21] Allison Dodge: I don't know where my headspace was at. And so I'm glad that wrong has been righted by it dying closer. Is that the song that I wanted that I also thought would be in round three? No, but that's okay. Here we are. Here we are.

[22:38] Andrew: Um, what doesn't kill you makes you stronger versus bills bills bills. Thank fucking god. I fucking hate what doesn't kill you.

[22:45] Allison Dodge: Not fucking hate it. Wait, why do you what is that?

[22:52] Andrew: I roll back the tapes.

[22:54] Allison Dodge: I really have never liked that song. I really don't like you have something against you don't like kelly clarkson songs. No, no, no, no, no.

[23:03] Andrew: So I am very happy.

[23:06] Allison Dodge: It's okay that a fuck ton of blow low is going into round three. That's okay. They really are he's doing he's he's eating good.

[23:14] Andrew: Yeah.

[23:17] Allison Dodge: Um something's coming is going through versus a house is not a home. That is not a competition that went the way that I thought it would have but I am very extremely happy that something's coming. We'll see the light. I need to.

[23:35] Andrew: Because I all right, there are two houses are not at homes.

[23:40] Allison Dodge: So you're are you thinking of because the one that lost was the colo version? That's what I thought it was. Oh, okay. Okay, okay because the the other one the april will mash up safe and sound round three. Yeah. Okay. Okay. Uh-huh. I knew it was the colo version, but that does still shock me.

[24:00] Andrew: Wait, I never thought that you were truly a something's coming head.

[24:04] Allison Dodge: Oh, no, I mean should I no I'm not gonna say it, but I do love it. I see you really you see the vision. Yeah, I know what you're trying to say.

[24:15] Andrew: Uh-huh.

[24:17] Allison Dodge: And then cold-hearted versus new york state of mind another competition that I did not think would go that way without me being here to fight for it but I am extremely happy that new york state of mind as it should the best song on glee is moving on the best song on glee.

[24:35] Andrew: Are we? Are we that's that's final.

[24:37] Allison Dodge: No, it'll never be final. It'll never be final until five years from now when there's the last damn episode.

[24:46] Andrew: Exactly exactly.

[24:48] Allison Dodge: Um, wait, so those are the things that you're happy with.

[24:50] Andrew: That's what I'm happy with. I honestly didn't even write down what I was unhappy with because I think other people have brought it up and it's not new conversation.

[25:00] Allison Dodge: What I do want to talk about is what? Another thing that everybody is talking about is the don't rain in my parade versus it's all coming back. Oh my we need your opinion on this yes.

[25:09] Andrew: So that is what I think this podcast you need to get used to is that this is what is coming for you blinks something's coming and it's a gun something's coming on your media and it the gun is really fucking hard competitions. Uh-huh. So you cannot I don't think that anybody can be mad at the decision made when it that is an impossible decision.

[25:42] Allison Dodge: Would the same song have gone through for you?

[25:46] Andrew: Yes. Oh fuck. I don't know. I I can't answer that because I will never be in that position.

[25:52] Allison Dodge: But never say never because I feel like it's all coming back to me now could very well come back to round three.

[25:59] Andrew: Um, and I don't know if you listened to this episode in particular, but it was very fun that in round one in our episode with brooke averick, we had a competition which was jessie's girl versus take a bow and competition the same competition. Okay, you're aware which I think is wild. So yeah.

[26:20] Allison Dodge: So it could happen again.

[26:25] Andrew: It could happen again is what I'm getting at.

[26:27] Allison Dodge: I know and so with the randomness of the they're like I think of competitions like bitch versus outcast it's like murp versus murp like nobody's really but people feel a very specific way about that competition. Do you have a song that stands out for you?

[26:45] Andrew: Bitch, I like bitch better than.

[26:51] Allison Dodge: No, I think it's like it's stupid I think it's but I think there is a world I think there is a world where because of process of elimination bitch could win the glacket. I think that if because there's going to be the hard competitions and now you just got rid of it's all coming back to me now that is a song that but duh would win against bitch. Yeah, but like the bad songs that are winning are winning like are keeping going and what if like there's two different sectors all of the good songs randomly are just always against the good songs and the bad songs are always against the bad songs.

[27:30] Allison Dodge: So your last episode is like bohemian rhapsody versus don't rain on my parade and then the second competition is bitch versus fucking I don't know some sort of christmas song that has lived. I know.

[27:45] Andrew: I'm scared for you. No, that's what I'm most excited about. I'm like, I care less about actually finding out like what the best song on Glee is through this practice. I'm more so excited to see like the bitch. Sure. That goes through. The stragglers that do. Right. That it's like, that's fun. Yeah. Okay. Yeah. I think that's I think it's fun. Yeah. So, but yeah, that's that was my retrospective introspective reflections. I do have a couple of songs that I hope we pull tonight and I have a couple of songs that I really hope we don't pull tonight. Do you want to say them out loud? Or are you afraid your manifestorial power? I want to manifest I want to manifest that we get the songs I want and that we don't get the songs I don't want.

Okay. Okay. I want to hear them. Dear God. I hope we get will you love me tomorrow head over feet. Wait, I'm like, I don't actually know your opinion about this song. So I'm like, do you want to send it to hell? Oh, okay. I love that song. Okay. I love that song. I will fight for it till the day I die. I it that is like a random good season six. Oh, no, it goes stupid for no reason. Yeah. Yeah. And, and I also hope we pull season five's version of keep holding on because I I just have a lot to say. Okay. I mean, there are only 18 songs left. So I've been good. Dear God, I hope we don't pull take me home tonight. And as long as you're there, because I've got nothing to fucking say about those bitches.

[29:27] Unknown speaker: I forgot that you were like, recently listening to like the remaining songs playlist as well. These are fresh of mind that you're like, they're fresh. So I was driving I was on a very, very long drive home through like, absolutely fucking nowhere. And I did content and I was caught up on the glide cast. So I listened to the remaining songs podcast. And I was like, okay, what's my opinion about every one of these songs. And those are two that I was just like, I just take me home tonight is the same conversation. Every single time it comes up, and I don't want to do it.

[30:03] Andrew: You don't want to do? You're talking about the the behind the scenes?

[30:08] Unknown speaker: Yeah, I don't want to talk about that.

[30:10] Andrew: All right, there's a very good chance that you you're so right. Just like the fact that you're so you're so like, like outward about your disdain for having a conversation about it. I feel like it's gonna be like the gods are gonna be like, actually, let's do it. Um, the first song we pull, what am I doing already with my cup in my hand? We need to bring in the first Gleek of the episode, which of course, Hello, Nicole.

[30:36] Nicole: Yes. Hello. Oh my god. Hi, Nicole. How are you doing?

[30:42] Nicole: I'm doing so good. I was so excited when I got a little message on Patreon saying like, Hey, you good for tonight? Because I are fun.

[30:54] Nicole: Listen, I fully pretended like I was, I fully was doing work, definitely. But I definitely stopped everything. Yeah.

[31:04] Andrew: Were you were you working out to the yoga, the yoga?

[31:08] Nicole: I was doing all of the hand stuff that you guys were doing.

[31:15] Nicole: Audio medium, the entirety of the time that Allison was like doing everything. Andrew and Allison were fully doing all the hand movements. And I can't say I was doing the same hand movements, but I was definitely vibing to all the songs.

[31:31] Andrew: Yeah, I appreciate that. I appreciate that. I think it's a great enterprise. It's Hello, sharks. I would like to bring something to you today. And it's called Gloka. Nicole, you already know what the deal is. I just asked Allison what her Gloka hot takes are. Now the floor is yours. What do you have to bring to us today?

[31:51] Nicole: So what I'm bringing is the exact opposite energy Allison. Okay, which is she wanted to make sure there was no negativity. I love being a shady bitch. Okay, so there's balance. Okay.

[32:04] Nicole: Yeah, so I just want to make sure that I'm being as balanced as possible. So Allison made sure not to bring the negativity. I'm starting it off. I have to bring the negativity and everyone else can follow me. I also have some very hot takes about the TV show Glee that does affect my Glocken opinions that I think no one will agree with. But I love that. I before I say my first hot take, I have to say my favorite characters Kurt and my second favorite character is Santana. I do like I this is not about those characters. Okay. Because the first my first major thing that I have an issue with is born this way versus we are young we are one which Allison was here for.

[32:53] Nicole: Yeah, we are young one. Absolutely fucking not. Because I fucking hate the trouble tones. I hate that whole storyline.

[33:05] Andrew: Damn. Okay. Yeah.

[33:07] Nicole: And Allison, you voted for because you famously do not like we are young, right?

[33:13] Allison: I also don't like the trouble tones.

[33:16] Nicole: I think it does such a disservice to both Mercedes and Santana. The whole storyline because, listen, sorry, I know you asked about the Glocken. I have no no, you clearly need to get this off your chest. I know I'm here for it. I do. I can only say it to so many of my friends who have never watched. Out of context, it doesn't really work.

[33:36] Nicole: They don't care. I forced one of my friends to watch seasons one through six just so that she would listen to my rants.

[33:45] Andrew: Yeah.

[33:45] Nicole: Um, listen, the trouble is essentially for mini storylines. And it's crazy that people say they love this trouble to him storyline when most of the mini storylines are not well regarded.

[34:00] Andrew: Wait, what are you talking about when you're talking about the mini?

[34:01] Nicole: Oh, you're getting into it.

[34:04] Andrew: Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Sorry. This is a TED talk.

[34:07] Nicole: Yeah. Yeah.

[34:10] Nicole: So essentially, it is. It's Glee Club Civil War is what they were clearly trying for. Yes, they were trying to do it. And they set up individual characters to have individual one on one rivalries with each other. Mercedes versus Rachel, Santana versus Finn. Shelby versus Shelby versus Quinn. And then Kurt versus Brittany.

[34:32] Andrew: Oh yeah, I see what you're saying.

[34:36] Nicole: That is yeah, you put it down like that. That's crazy.

[34:39] Nicole: Like that is what's happening, except very specifically, the most the one that's centering the storyline is the one they will not touch with a 12 inch pole, which is Mercedes versus Rachel. Because if they do Rachel versus Mercedes, they have to make a definitive stance on why Rachel is getting so many solos. So they will throw Rachel and any other plot line during that entirety of the Trouble Tones arc to not do that, which means I none of my issues with the Trouble Tones have anything to do with the songs, I think. Like, I'm not going to argue that the Adele mashups a bad song under no circumstances that I do that.

[35:14] Nicole: But besides the songs, name a good scene, like a really good centered Mercedes scene that happens while she's with the Trouble Tones.

[35:32] Andrew: Um, I, I do like because I would love to hear your rebuttal.

[35:38] Nicole: I would love to hear your rebuttal to this.

[35:40] Andrew: Yeah, the the scene where like, they're all around the piano and like Santana is like, I'm trying to figure out other ways to be mean to Finn. And then Mercedes is like, you're being too mean. Let's do like, and she's like, I'm the and they have like a vote on like, who like the leader of the club is, which that's a good Mercedes Trouble Tone scene.

[35:57] Nicole: Here's the thing, though. It's not about Mercedes. It's about Santana because we have to set up because that's my issue with the Santana stuff. Is we have to make Santana as nasty as possible. This is something they do consistently with Gleek. They have to make Santana as nasty as possible. So we can justify something very terrible about to happen to Santana.

[36:18] Andrew: Sure, something bad's about to happen.

[36:20] Nicole: Yeah, like, we have to just we have to quote unquote, justify her getting outed. So we're gonna have her incredibly fat phobic. We're gonna have her gonna be incredibly fat phobic to Finn. Uh, like, that's what happens. Because the whole thing is, like, everybody hates Santana is coming out because it's not about Santana. It's about Finn and like this rivalry.

[36:43] Andrew: Yeah, I'll talk about how no, it's about the trouble tones. Like Santana is getting outed to make the trouble tones the villains.

[36:51] Nicole: Yeah, right. All of this could have happened in the Glee Club. Because be honest.

[36:56] Andrew: Good point. Yeah.

[36:58] Nicole: Why did Mercedes choose Santana?

[37:02] Andrew: Oh, in canon, it's because, oh, you only had one solo the previous year.

[37:08] Nicole: Yeah, not true. If we are counting truly just solo performances at things that happened, like pure solos, she's the only one singing in the song.

[37:19] Andrew: Or yeah, in front of an audience.

[37:23] Nicole: Yeah.

[37:24] Nicole: Then the two songs mentioned are true. That's not counting heads will roll, which wasn't in front of an audience.

[37:31] Andrew: Santana had a solo.

[37:32] Nicole: But it's not a pure Santana solo.

[37:33] Andrew: Sure, yeah.

[37:34] Nicole: She has a big part. Like she has like a main vocal part in both.

[37:41] Andrew: Light Up The World.

[37:42] Nicole: The original Light Up The World. And I'm pretty sure in Less Than Forgetting, Loser Like Me.

[37:47] Andrew: I could be wrong.

[37:47] Nicole: And it could be. I'm going to black check you right there.

[37:51] Andrew: All she does, which is a great moment, is you may say that I'm a freak show. I don't care.

[37:56] Nicole: She has the I don't care. She does have a vocal point.

[38:01] Andrew: And I think she does do some background vocals.

[38:05] Nicole: You could backtrack me on that. I'm less sure about that one.

[38:08] Andrew: Okay.

[38:10] Nicole: But Santana is essentially second lead to Rachel in season two. Even solos in season one at regionals that should have story-wise gone to Quinn.

[38:21] Andrew: Like Santana sings in Don't Stop Believing in the regionals performance.

[38:27] Nicole: Story-wise, that should be a Quinn solo. Her mom just walked into the auditorium.

[38:32] Andrew: But Naira Vera is the better vocalist.

[38:35] Nicole: And we're giving Naira Vera more stuff to do. Not an issue. I love Naira Vera's voice.

[38:40] Andrew: But if anything, Santana's second lead to Rachel.

[38:44] Nicole: Like solo-wise in the Glee Club. Because even Mercedes herself doesn't actually even get any.

[38:51] Andrew: She doesn't get any solos in any competitions.

[38:53] Nicole: So it's like the fact that Santana did have a solo with Valerie in season two was like a major credit.

[38:58] Andrew: Yeah.

[39:00] Nicole: I will also say only three characters ever get like full- in the New Directions specifically. Blaine also gets some in the Warblers.

[39:08] Andrew: Yeah.

[39:10] Nicole: But only three characters only ever get pure solos at competitions. Rachel, Santana, and Tina with Gangnam Style.

[39:19] Andrew: Yeah.

[39:20] Nicole: Everyone else gets duets. Saying that, like-

[39:24] Andrew: And also, We Are Young, which is the song I have an issue with.

[39:29] Nicole: I'll get to that as well. Sorry.

[39:31] Andrew: I'm all over the place.

[39:32] Nicole: No, you're good.

[39:33] Nicole: Yeah, yeah. I just find it funny that the New Directions' most diverse array of voices is the one that Rachel can't sing at.

[39:39] Andrew: So we're specifically saying, no, the New Directions weren't like that.

[39:42] Nicole: Mercedes and Santana don't have a leg to stand on.

[39:46] Andrew: We're so good about being diverse with our voices. That's why we'll never do this again.

[39:54] Nicole: It's also low-key why I have an issue with both of Rachel's competition solos in season three.

[40:01] Andrew: Because this was never an established fact.

[40:03] Nicole: She has two competition solos prior to this.

[40:06] Andrew: But there's plot reason behind it.

[40:09] Nicole: Like, you can justify out of the universe why that happened.

[40:13] Andrew: It's because she's the main character.

[40:15] Nicole: You're saying-

[40:16] Andrew: Sorry to cut you off. But I feel like you're saying, here's to us, specifically, I have a qualm with, that I'm like, where did they even come from?

[40:22] Nicole: Where did that even-

[40:26] Andrew: Yeah.

[40:29] Nicole: Here's the thing. Rachel's solos prior to this, in-universe, I'm not talking about out-of-universe, which is just, we like Lea Michele best. But Don't Rain on My Parade happens because the New Directions get screwed over.

[40:44] Nicole: Mercedes is specifically like, I don't have a solo prepared right now. Like, you need to go on. This is a canon reason why this is happening.

[40:54] Andrew: Get It Right happens because Rachel specifically wrote a whole song.

[40:59] Nicole: And was the only one with, that was good enough for Mr. Shu. Again, you can judge the out-of-universe reasons for that.

[41:10] Nicole: But in-universe, it's not an established fact that Rachel just gets this magical solo that's a horror-only moment.

[41:15] Andrew: That's a season three invention.

[41:20] Nicole: That only happens because of Quinn's insane deal at the end of the Trouble Tones arc that pisses me off.

[41:27] Nicole: And I have major-

[41:29] Andrew: And I have made-

[41:29] Nicole: Sorry, I-

[41:30] Andrew: No, this is-

[41:31] Nicole: I can feel it.

[41:33] Andrew: And I love the passion.

[41:35] Nicole: Which, honestly, it's-

[41:37] Unknown Speaker: Why I was so fucking happy for "It's All Coming Back to Me Now" to die because here's the thing. Here's the thing, Quinn's deal at the end of the Troubled Tones arc, all it showed us is the only lesson learned from the Troubled Tones was don't expose child predators. That's the only thing that's learned in this arc. Rachel and Mercedes didn't learn anything. Rachel has nothing to do with that. There is no resolution.

[42:06] Unknown Speaker: I totally agree. Yes, yeah.

[42:12] Unknown Speaker: Finn and Santana learned it's fine. Girls just want to have fun.

[42:18] Unknown Speaker: Yeah, girls just want to have fun, acoustic version. I'm gonna sit right up close to you and not make this an awkward eye contact thing. I hope you don't smell anything on my breath, right? I say this, I love Finn. I just, um, I hate season three. It's my least favorite season. This is really everybody is a bastard version of themselves, specifically at the beginning of season three. And I think it's because they brought new writers in and it's the first time they're writing these characters.

[42:52] Unknown Speaker: Uh-huh.

[42:52] Unknown Speaker: A little bit. Like, there are very good moments. Yeah, there's very good character moments for everyone in season three, but 90% of the time, like, they will just be the most bastard versions of themselves. Like, unless there's a really good scene that somebody's talking about. But anyway, the deal that Quinn made is the Troubled Tones get a special performance at each competition. Yeah, for each competition. And then Rachel gets an extra special solo. And if you won the section in universe, I don't care what you guys think about the songs. Yeah, in universe, Tina, Quinn, and all the guys get punished for winning. Nobody who won, like that, nobody who won the competition gets rewarded for that. The Troubled Tones and Rachel, who weren't in the New Directions for that set list, get rewarded with Rachel getting an extra special solo and essentially a Mercedes Santana duet because let's be honest, Britney and Sugar didn't do shit.

[44:00] Unknown Speaker: Right. Yeah, so here's the thing. I think a much more impactful way to end this arc is have Rachel step up as a leader, show her character development, make a fucking stand on the fact that she gets everything handed to her, say, hey, you know what? It isn't fair. Santana gets the solo for regionals. Mercedes, this should be a direct conversation, just a one-on-one scene with Mercedes and Rachel. Mercedes, you get the national solo. I already know I'm going to have a big featured part anyway. And she does. She does get, like, Finn is the main lead in "Paradise by the Dashboard Light," but Rachel's second lead. Like, she has a major solo part. And also, even in universe for a plot, I also hate Carmen Thibodeau comes and sees Rachel at "Paradise." Like, she comes in halfway, like she's still dealing with her program and sitting down and all that stuff during her. She could have fully been invested for "Paradise."

[45:13] Unknown Speaker: Yeah, yeah, that is what happens. That's canonically what happens is she's only sitting down fully watching for "Paradise." Yeah, Rachel didn't need that solo. I'd argue her, like, an actual scene of character development was more needed for Rachel, especially because I need a, like, Mercedes gets more to do both comedy-wise and emotional-wise in "Night of Neglect" than she does the entirety of the Troubletones arc.

[45:59] Unknown Speaker: Like, speak on it. At one, like, the Troubletones are the villains in the show, regardless if you like them. And I'm not saying they're wrong to like them. They have great voices. But, like, at one point, they throw dodgeballs at Rory until he bleeds, and Kurt has to stop them. Mercedes has been a, like, character that's been a loser and bullied this entire show. She doesn't have thoughts on that? Like, is she saying it, like, is her thoughts, oh, it's all justified if we get what we want? Is her thoughts, no, we're becoming what we hated? Like, what are her thoughts? We don't know. We'll never know.

[46:09] Unknown Speaker: You are speaking truth to power, and I really love you for it. I'm just concerned because we're nearing an hour without pulling a single song.

[46:21] Unknown Speaker: No, no, you're completely fine because everybody in the chat is going crazy for this opinion because also no one's ever talking about this.

[46:33] Unknown Speaker: Nobody talks about it because I think people like the song so much, and they're great songs. Naya Rivera and Amber Riley have god-tier voices.

[46:39] Unknown Speaker: Right.

[46:39] Unknown Speaker: People like the song so much that honestly could have been reworked if it was just within the glee club.

[46:45] Unknown Speaker: Yeah, but yeah.

[46:45] Unknown Speaker: Yes, it could have been reworked. Leave on a second glee opinion I have and not explain. I hate the Warblers as well. Anyway.

[47:04] Unknown Speaker: Okay.

[47:04] Unknown Speaker: Face value.

[47:04] Unknown Speaker: Yeah, yeah, take that face value. I love glee so much. I love found family, and if you have one character that in a lot of ways is the heart of the group, like, leave to another group and then do nothing with it that couldn't have been done if Blaine was a transfer student.

[47:23] Unknown Speaker: Yeah.

[47:23] Unknown Speaker: Like, what did Blaine, like, and you could have had the New Direction. Blaine could have come from Dalton, had, like, had, like, oh, I have an acapella background, and, like, Kurt, as a way to bond with him, could have, like, got the guys to do acapella versions, and every single Warbler song could have been done the exact same. Nothing was added by having Kurt go to Dalton besides we lose out a lot of the Karofsky stuff.

[47:49] Unknown Speaker: Yeah.

[47:49] Unknown Speaker: Every gay plot in season two gets put on hold because, yeah, the main gay plots of Kurt and Santana don't get happened until Kurt is about to come back to McKinley.

[48:02] Unknown Speaker: Right.

[48:02] Unknown Speaker: I say what I say.

[48:08] Unknown Speaker: You're completely right there. People are campaigning for president.

[48:14] Unknown Speaker: Kurt doesn't get to interact with any other glee club member unless it's explicitly talking about Blaine for the rest, like, until he comes back to McKinley. It's like a weird version of the Bechdel test.

[48:26] Unknown Speaker: Yeah.

[48:26] Unknown Speaker: Like, does Kurt have a scene? Yeah, he's not talking about Blaine. We put, like, either that or talking to Rachel. Those are the only two things he has to do in season two once he's at Dalton. The stuff of him and, like, him and Finn, which is some of my favorite shit that happens on the show, is those two interacting. I love their brotherly interactions despite the fact that we got so little of it.

[48:50] Unknown Speaker: Yeah.

[48:50] Unknown Speaker: That also gets put on hold because the episode that they become stepbrothers, Kurt's like, bye. You're not gonna invite me back even when it makes absolute sense. Like, it's Christmas Eve, and I'm not invited to Will Schuster's house.

[49:00] Unknown Speaker: Very good point.

[49:06] Unknown Speaker: Yeah, he doesn't get in, like, he doesn't get to go to the mall with them that same episode. Why?

[49:15] Unknown Speaker: Oh, yeah.

[49:15] Unknown Speaker: Why couldn't he just be there?

[49:20] Unknown Speaker: Yeah, because we have to isolate Kurt because the only way for him to get a boyfriend is if we completely isolate him and put him in another school.

[49:29] Unknown Speaker: Put him in another school where they say it's completely anti-bullying. We see throughout the show that's not true. And honestly, there's a much more, even if we had him at this other school, why, like, there's a very interesting thing of he's always been, like, the gay kid. Now he's the poor kid. That's canonically what, like, there's a very interesting story to tell about, like, class there. And there's a lot of very funny comedy that could have come with a very boring school and Kurt just casually mentioning the most insane shit that he got up to at McKinley and everyone looking, like, deeply horrified.

[50:02] Unknown Speaker: Like, Nicole, you're cooking. I'm almost, like, afraid to ask in the best way possible of glacket opinions.

[50:10] Unknown Speaker: Yes, sorry. So, yeah, "Born This Way" should have won. "Born This Way," yeah, back to McKinley. This is just rapid fire. I have a, oh my god. I'm just gonna go through these fast because some of these are round one and they don't need to be rehashed. "So Far Away" is better than "One of Us." Yeah, "Cherish" should have died. "Need You Now" also should have been dead on arrival. I hate that fucking song. I resent it more than any other song on the show. Listen, Kurt should have been at McKinley for the episode that all the football players came, and it should have been a much more angry song that happened there because there's a god-tier plot line there that they couldn't do because Kurt was at fucking Dalton of all places.

"Losing My Religion" should have won to "We Will Rock You." "Love Child" is a goddamn gem and should have won. It's so funny. It's so fun. "Alkas" going forward was crazy in round one. It should not have, and it almost went through in round two. "Jesse's Girl" losing to "Take a Bow" was initially, and I'm glad that it came back and it was. "Dream On" losing is crazy because even my staunchest shoe haters love that song. "Don't Dream It's Over" is so fucking good, and it lost to "Rehab," and I'm so sad. And "Rehab" is cleaning up. Sorry, I know I was screaming in the chat when "Mercy" came on for a different last month live stream. "Dream a Little Dream" should have beat "Lose Your Breath." I love that Artie solo. "Give Up the Funk" should have won over "What Did I Say?"

[52:08] Unknown Speaker: "Lose Your Breath," yeah.

[52:08] Unknown Speaker: Yeah, yeah, yeah. "Lose My Breath" won against "Dream a Little Dream" and "Give Up the Funk."

[52:15] Unknown Speaker: Oh, that's insane. I love both of those songs so much. "Give Up the Funk" is so funny, and if you look in the background, you can see Chris and Cory clearly think the words are "Give Up the Fuck."

[52:30] Unknown Speaker: No, you're kidding.

[52:30] Unknown Speaker: I say I've seen, like, gifs of this, of, like, zoomed in, is that, like, very specific part, which is so funny. I will try to find, because it's like an old Tumblr gif that I found a while ago, but I will try to send it to you for the carousel.

[52:46] Unknown Speaker: Thank you.

[52:46] Unknown Speaker: Oh, "It Must Have Been Love" should have beat "Not While I'm Around," one of Blaine's worst solos, and the MP3 is bad. I feel bad about that one. I'm sorry.

[53:00] Unknown Speaker: Yeah, you should. Okay, one more, one more if you have it, and then we'll pull the fourth song.

[53:07] Unknown Speaker: Yeah, "Pure Imagination" should have won. It's my, the friend that I forced to watch all six seasons of Glee, it's her favorite song from the show. I don't know why, but it's a fun song.

[53:20] Unknown Speaker: Wait, which song?

[53:20] Unknown Speaker: "Pure Imagination."

[53:20] Unknown Speaker: "Pure Imagination" is my friend's favorite song, and obviously when I asked her to name her favorite song from Glee.

[53:33] Unknown Speaker: And is that friend okay? Are they emotionally stable?

[53:42] Unknown Speaker: No, you don't need to answer that, actually.

[53:42] Unknown Speaker: Actually, don't answer that. Yeah. All right, well, we're gonna get into song number one of the episode. I'm manifesting, I'm manifesting "Love Shack" because I once was on a road trip with a bunch of people who have never seen Glee, and we had "Love Shack" on the playlist six times. Six with five were the original versions, once was Glee, and we got through the entire play.

[54:07] Unknown Speaker: It's not "Love Shack," but it is a song that Allison specifically manifested.

[54:15] Unknown Speaker: Oh, hell yeah.

[54:15] Unknown Speaker: Yes.

[54:15] Unknown Speaker: Yeah, I feel like it's not gonna be my number one. It's gonna be my second one that I wanted. We already know what the hell it is.

[54:25] Unknown Speaker: Yes, fuck yeah. Okay, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.

[54:34] ♪ Musical number: "Keep Holding On" — performed by the cast of Glee ♪

[55:30] Andrew McGuire: So we are back.

[56:16] Andrew McGuire: Okay, so Allison, do you want to start us off in the discourse? You have things to say about this?

[56:33] Allison Dodge: I really do. So I was listening to the Gleek of the Week podcast remaining songs playlist and I was going through and one of the first songs I listened to was "The Lady is a Tramp," and recently just passed away, recently just passed away. But I will say I like Puck as a couple with literally everybody else, except for Quinn. And I will say, like, I love Puck Sadie's, but I do think Sam and Quinn made more sense to me. And I wasn't thinking very critically, I was just thinking, I like them. I like them together. I thought that plotline was interesting. Quinn just had a baby and of course, like, Quinn and Puck are kind of, I mean, they're definitely toxic together. But her Puck isn't truly not enabling her self-sabotaging behavior in season two, I think, which is that when she turns her hair pink? Is that season two? Or is it three?

[57:50] Nicole: Three.

[57:51] Allison Dodge: So that's just bad. That's bad. And I thought it was fun. I mean, she just had a baby and she just meets this cute guy who's also, which is like, oh, she wants her position back and popularity. So of course, she's going to go for the quarterback. But also he's really sweet and cute and fun. And also, isn't she like in on the fact that he's homeless at one point?

[58:16] Nicole: Yes.

[58:17] Allison Dodge: Yeah. That's so, I love that friendship. And I love that that storyline was great because of the bond. Like hey, yeah, we dated. And then in this scene, the bond between Sam and Quinn is clearly completely evaporated, completely gone, completely. Like it's pretending it never even exists. The only person that ever dated Quinn was Puck. And it's like, no, you just got her pregnant. That's all you had to do. You're not important, actually. I feel played because I remember when this episode came out and I'm excited to hear what you think as well, Nicole. I remember when this episode came out and I was in a goddamn puddle when they did like toward the end of the episode, when they would like cut back and forth between like Britannia getting back together and then Quick getting back together.

And I was like, at the time, Britannia still meant more to me than Quick. But I was like, these are the two relationships that mean the most to me. I am literally dying. But like looking back, I'm like, why was I going all crazy for Quinn and Puck? And I think it's because they played me on nostalgia. They were like, no. They were like, remember in season one when they were together, isn't it nice to see them back together? And I'm like, actually, no. In hindsight, they're actually like terrible for each other and horrible, horrible. Frankly, Quinn and Puck, with any other relationship, much more interesting and better for them. Puckleberry is so fun. Pucksidies is so fun. Quinn and fucking even fucking Chase from Crawford, Chase Crawford is more fun.

Like that is a dynamic, fun thing to think about. They felt like it was like gun to their head. You have to get back together. And they're like, Quinn and Santana. That's fun. Yeah. So, Nicole, what do we, what say you?

[1:00:04] Nicole: Puck is always a character that I think, in a pure fan fiction sense, I really vibe with Puck. And then I watch him on TV and I'm like, why was, even with, even disregarding all the absolutely terrible things, which we should, but absolutely like disregarding that, Mark Salling can't act. I understand why absolutely everybody else on the show was cast except for him sometimes. I think that sometimes he can do the comedy parts well. I think this is something that they say on Recovering Gleek when talking about certain episodes. There are some lines that are comedy proof or that are like bad acting proof that there are certain lines that I truly think we're just always going to be funny. There's a lot of stuff that I will say, like, season two and three is what I'm thinking of is like, I love watching the like group shots where people are just fucking off in the background. I'm specifically thinking of the episode Funeral. Puck has a very funny, like background moments of just like laughing at like Jesse making fun of Ben. Like him and Kurt are like vibing together.

[1:01:17] Allison Dodge: Oh, I need to see this.

[1:01:19] Nicole: Like I understand, honestly, more than Puck or more than Puck and Quinn. I understand why people shipped Puck and Kurt like back before Blaine was on the scene.

[1:01:28] Allison Dodge: Oh, hot to me.

[1:01:30] Nicole: I said before Blaine was on the scene.

[1:01:32] Allison Dodge: Sure. Sure. Sure. Sure. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Oh, yeah. Yeah. Puck and Kurt have some very funny dynamics in season three of season two specifically where Puck's still crying during candles for some reason. It's so funny. Him and Kurt are like vibing during Funeral every time Finn's getting made fun of for there's a specifically there's a shot of like everyone having a very funny reaction to like a certain line that Jesse says towards Finn of like Quinn looks the most stone faced like I could give a fuck what is happening in this club right now. Puck and Kurt are like giggling together as like a bunch of other people. Like those are the three.

[1:02:21] Allison Dodge: I truthfully have no idea what you're talking about, Nicole, and I'm very excited to watch it back.

[1:02:26] Nicole: Yeah, yeah. More more ammo for the carousel.

[1:02:28] Allison Dodge: Yeah, I know. You're really, you're really supplying gifts.

[1:02:45] Allison Dodge: Oh my God. Yeah. But yeah, Quinn, Quinn and Puck as a relationship in season five very much feels to me the dynamic of the lesbian who has to be like with the one girl with the one guy who if she was straight would be with that guy. For all of the like shit they say in the show of like, he was her first, like they had a baby together. There's this deep seated understanding.

[1:03:23] Nicole: That's true. They were like actually like never-

[1:03:31] Nicole: Yeah. Yeah. We're gonna go to Mercedes before they forget the storyline. Beep, beep. Mercedes' mom is here.

[1:03:37] Allison Dodge: Yeah. Another thing that they dropped for Mercedes. Sorry. I-

[1:03:41] Nicole: Yeah. I-

[1:03:42] Allison Dodge: Part of the reason I hate Faberi is because it's so obvious that they started giving more Faberi moments to not give Mercedes moments with Quinn.

[1:04:56] Nicole: Sure.

[1:04:57] Allison Dodge: To pick the other song? It's very much a- Puck has had so many worse and it's such a Puck staple, kind of, but it also, in terms of the nostalgia baiting, is being like- and Puck was important to Quinn the whole time. Remember how this was relevant to Quinn the first time around?

[1:05:16] Nicole: Yeah.

[1:05:17] Allison Dodge: Now when you listen to the season one version, you'll think of the season five version and think Puck was more important.

[1:05:24] Nicole: Well, I will say this, a legal note first, is that this is the only Puck song left in the Glackett. So if this doesn't win, the only Puck polo-

[1:05:33] Allison Dodge: What did only the Good Die Young lose to?

[1:05:41] Nicole: I think that was like Ain't No Way or something. It was like an easy layup.

[1:05:44] Allison Dodge: Yeah, because that's my favorite Puck solo. But if it's Ain't No Way, yeah, absolutely give it to Puck.

[1:05:51] Nicole: Right. And so this is the only one going through- still eligible, the only polo. But I will also say, and I'm sure that I've said it before, that I do prefer this version to the season one version. I just remember streaming this heavy when it came out and I don't ever having- I don't remember ever having a relationship with the season one. I think that's like technically on paper a Finchel duet and I didn't really- it didn't work with me. Whereas this polo version, it surely did. So I'm excited to see what it's against because I'm like, I don't think that this is the best representation of a polo. But maybe it's the polo that we- that round three deserves. You know what I mean?

[1:06:38] Allison Dodge: Yeah. Yeah. That needs to live on. I don't know. Everyone in the chat saying- everyone in the chat saying they're absolutely fine if Puck does this way. It's very funny to me. There's only one- I have what it's against. There's only one competition that I'm like scared of potentially happening. And I saw that people in the Patreon group chat have already brought this up. And I'm not even going to say it out loud because I don't-

Um, this song, as much as it is—it's like definitely great on paper that it's like, wow, Lea Michele and Adam Lambert singing "Barracuda," cannot deny it's gonna be a slay every time. I can't get past and like this song just found me right now in a particularly weird week where I am just like very against—um, okay, so like in this scene, um, Rachel Barbara Berry is being really weirdly—um, yeah, like, like, hey, you want to be my new best gay friend? And it's um, I am having a week right now where I'm really like, ooh, I'm trying to make space for people like this that exist. But uh, it's really pushing its limit. Everyone's on their own journey and I need to respect that, but some of these girls—some of these girls need to chill. Um, and so I—ladies, please, ladies.

[1:11:18] Nicole: Um, so like that's what's like coming to mind the entire time—the entire—how long was this? This was, uh, two minutes and nine seconds that I was watching this that I couldn't even comprehend the utter slayage that was happening in front of me. I was distracted by the um, the pet gay line that I believe that Rachel says before singing this song. It's very strange and um, it's definitely working against it.

[1:11:51] Nicole: Yeah, which also puts such a weird spin on what's supposed to be her absolute best friend in the entire closest person she is to anyone in the show, uh, after like specifically in season five who like helped her in a very hard time in her life. Uh, very puts a very weird spin on her relationship with Kurt. Uh, yeah.

[1:12:24] Nicole: And I also just looking at the chat and everybody's saying hot Rachel. If anybody has seen um, Simgm's—yeah, of course, Glee parodies—uh, there's like a moment where Quinn just looks at like Rachel at her prom dress and goes, "Uh, I see you're going as Lea Michele tonight."

[1:12:55] Nicole: That's right, not the girl who was the fucking weird kid who tried so hard with everyone that is trying to be as hot as possible and trying to say a gay best friend for the audience and trying to be so scary—trying to be as cool with the kids as possible that the writers could possibly do.

[1:13:18] Nicole: And it comes across so bad. I like this plot line generally, uh, before they make it, uh, Rachel won everything and Santana was bad the whole time and uh, which again seems like history repeated itself—history repeats itself again. Uh, they love doing that to Santana—justice for my girl, but uh, I like the storyline in general of Santana and Rachel fighting because fundamentally they are two people who don't know how to handle their emotions and will go about things in the worst way possible and don't deal with their feelings.

[1:36:55] Andrew: Yeah, this needs to be spruced up, and we don't have Nio or something. I don't know what the deal was.

[1:37:01] Allison Dodge: I will say, in conversation with this song specifically, specifically "I Could Have Danced All Night," when this song was initially pulled in round one, one of the things that we talked about was the fact that in this plot, it was Ken's and Emma's songs. Ken's song was "Thong Song," and then this was Emma's song, and they were trying to mash them up, and they are not successful in doing so.

[1:37:25] Allison Dodge: And when we were talking about "I Could Have Danced All Night," Ben Finer, he had the idea of like trying to make a mashup himself of the two original "My Fair Lady" and Cisco mashing up those songs.

[1:37:08] Andrew: Thank you so much, Joseph. We'd love to have you back on in the future. And thank you for helping with this competition.

[1:37:14] Joseph: Yes, thank you. I'm hoping for a really good round three. That's not a sweep.

[1:37:19] Andrew: Oh, we'll see. We might fight. I think we should. Let's fight. I'm going into the final competition of the episode. I have Jude. Is Jude still here?

[1:37:30] Jude: Hi, did I do it?

[1:37:31] Andrew: You did it! How are you doing?

[1:37:33] Jude: I'm excited and glonored.

[1:37:37] Andrew: The glonor is all ours. Truly, you've been a longtime listener. Yes?

[1:37:45] Jude: Well, so I found your podcast when you did the Kevin and Jenna collab episodes. And yeah, so since then, basically. I did go back and listen to some of the earlier episodes, but yeah.

[1:38:06] Andrew: No, no, I always look forward to seeing a DM or comment or what have you from you. Jude, let's get into Glock and Hot Takes. Are there opinions that you would like to share at this very moment?

[1:38:18] Jude: So I'm pretty much okay with everything that's happened in round two. Since Kevin and Jenna's podcast came out, and since I've been listening to yours, I finally bit the bullet and tried to watch until the end of this show. I watched like seasons one and two as it aired. And then I went to college and I couldn't really watch it. And I tried in 2018 to watch the whole thing and I fell off in like season five. And so then like this past spring, I finally got to the end of season six. And then I was like, Wait a second, like, I like a lot of these songs that I didn't like, remember from like one and two seasons. And then I checked like the Glockett and like a lot of the songs I liked, died in round one. One of them being Tightrope.

[1:39:27] Andrew: Oh, died for good.

[1:39:31] Jude: Is that-

[1:39:32] Andrew: Oh, it did?

[1:39:33] Jude: I think I got the New Zealand guys like dark sided Glockett because I thought it died to Whistle.

[1:39:40] Andrew: No, I am almost positive.

[1:39:43] Jude: Oh no, I think you're right.

[1:39:46] Andrew: I'm sorry. We're looking at completely different Glocketts.

[1:39:49] Jude: No, you're right. You're right. No. So what I was thinking of is that I also really liked I Kissed a Girl season six version from 2009, which died to Whistle.

[1:40:01] Andrew: Oh, and Whistle's still around. And so-

[1:40:05] Jude: I know, Whistle could be pulled tonight.

[1:40:08] Andrew: Yeah, so what I was thinking is that I would love the competition to have Whistle against the Jagged Little Tapestry mashup.

[1:40:16] Jude: Yes.

[1:40:18] Andrew: I would like to send, is that Max George? I'd like to send him away.

[1:40:23] Jude: Yeah. Max George, it's an automatic L for you. Yeah.

[1:40:29] Andrew: Just because like, I love Janelle Monáe and I love Samantha Marie Ware.

[1:40:33] Jude: Yeah.

[1:40:34] Andrew: And I loved that she got that song and I was like, wow, it's not in round two. And then my other one was, I know Andrew isn't the biggest fan, but I really like Blow Me One Last Kiss. I think that the harmonies are magical. Yeah.

[1:40:55] Jude: So yeah, that's, I'm pretty much fine with round two. I was kind of sad about Barracuda just a little bit ago.

[1:41:06] Andrew: Do you want to say some words at Barracuda's funeral right now?

[1:41:13] Jude: I just, the lyrics are amazing. If you actually like look up the lyrics, like talking about porpoises and stuff. And Adam Lambert, I love you. I voted for you. I remember your kiss at the Grammys. Yes. And I just, I don't know, Bon Voyage Fish.

[1:41:37] Andrew: Bon Voyage Fish is, that's a front runner for title of ep. That's really great.

[1:41:42] Jude: I hope it is.

[1:41:45] Andrew: I feel like I saw that Adam Lambert like performed Barracuda simply by himself, of course, not with Lea Michele at like an award show, like in the past few months. And I'm like, oh, okay. Lea Michele.

[1:41:55] Jude: Glee mentioned, Glee mentioned.

[1:41:57] Andrew: Glee mentioned, Glee mentioned. Okay, so what do we, what do we want? What do we want now, Jude?

[1:42:04] Jude: I do want the head over feet mashup that Allison wants.

[1:42:09] Andrew: Okay, yes. And Whistle.

[1:42:11] Jude: And to send Whistle to an early death.

[1:42:14] Andrew: Yes. I did write earlier before this episode that I wanted Barracuda. I do, I would like Dammit Janet just because I was in a Rocky Horror production.

[1:42:26] Jude: Yeah. Oh, that's so fun.

[1:42:29] Andrew: Yeah, it was like a full musical. It wasn't like a shadow cast.

[1:42:33] Jude: Yeah. And I was Eddie.

[1:42:36] Andrew: Oh, I love.

[1:42:38] Jude: Thank you.

[1:42:42] Andrew: Yeah, I was sad about whatever happened to Saturday night. But I know John Stamos is kind of like shrug emojis to me so.

[1:42:51] Jude: Sure.

[1:42:52] Andrew: I and last manifestation would be any Santolo.

[1:43:01] Jude: We have two.

[1:43:01] Andrew: Especially is it I guess it doesn't I guess it's a duet but I did want to see Nutbush but.

[1:43:09] Jude: No, that's a Santolo.

[1:43:11] Andrew: God, yeah.

[1:43:11] Jude: Oh, okay.

[1:43:12] Andrew: Nutbush did it.

[1:43:15] Jude: Call it Nutbush.

[1:43:17] Andrew: Okay, it's the song that you did not want to talk about.

[1:43:24] Jude: Stop it. I'm logging out.

[1:43:28] Andrew: Can you can you think of something while we're watching it?

[1:43:31] Jude: Think of something new and exciting to say about this.

[1:43:33] Andrew: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.

[1:43:35] Jude: Because I'll say the boring legal notes that I need to say about this song.

[1:43:39] Andrew: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.

[1:43:40] Jude: Okay, okay, okay. All right. All right. All right. Here I go. Here I go. Here I go.

[1:43:43] Andrew: And sure. And there it is. It's take me home tonight.

[1:43:47] Jude: God fucking damn it.

[1:43:48] Andrew: From the Lexington home of retired performers. Give it up and enjoy the song.

[1:43:51] Jude: Shut the fuck up.

[1:43:53] Andrew: Put that fucking dog down.

[1:43:54] Jude: I'm doing a rough start.

[1:43:57] Andrew: We'll just we'll figure something out.

[1:48:51] Jude: I mean, the song is fun. It's a little like adults bop to me. I like totally didn't even remember it was from this episode when you when I saw it on the list. Because like, unfortunately, this is the like the episodes where it's just the kids in New York. I really am not a fan. It just doesn't feel like the show. I think McKinley and Lima are like actual characters. And I think it it just does a disservice to the show to not be in Lima for those episodes at all.
