[0:00] Andrew: We've got a mission to find the best song that's ever been on Glee.

[0:09] Andrew: There's no rhyme or reason to it, so don't get mad at me.

[0:18] Andrew: Glacket by Glacket, we'll rank everyone to see which song will move closer to spot number one.

[0:26] Andrew: Gleek of the Week, Gleek, Gleek, Gleek of the Week. It's Gleek, Gleek of the Week.

[0:34] Andrew: It's time for another episode of Gleek of the Week Podcast, where I think, um, I think we're gonna get a little bit closer to finding the best song on Glee. And, um, I'm just talking into the void right now. Is, is anybody else here a Gleek? Is anybody else here interested in Glacketing? Am I right?

[0:54] Matt: Who is that? Who are you?

[0:56] Andrew: Who am I? That's a deep question. Do we have time to get into that?

[1:00] Matt: Um, I think that's related to Glee. Yeah, let's talk about it. Who are you?

[1:04] Matt: I know, I mean, my lower name here, lower third, I don't know. It says Matt.

[1:10] Matt: So I'm gonna go with that. But you know, really, like, in the world, who am I? Am I anybody?

[1:15] Andrew: I think, I know, I definitely believe that you are someone. I know that you are someone. And I think that through the process of, you know, developing, finding the best song on Glee, we will discover more of who you are. So I'm really interested in going on this journey with you for the next 90 minutes. And Aman, are you a Gleek?

[1:38] Aman: Yeah, I am. Whatever is more than a Gleek. That's what I am.

[1:44] Andrew: Oh, perfect. You're the Gleek of the week right now. Okay, I can tell you that much.

[1:50] Andrew: Wait, also, we need to talk about a little bit of news. I guess it will be dated by the time this episode comes out. But the Oh my god, Weakest Link.

[1:58] Matt: Yes, I know. That's insane. I didn't even know it was still on.

[2:04] Andrew: So that came out, that news came out a couple of days ago, right about this reunion. And so wait, now there's like, six thoughts in my head. I want to answer Iman's thing first.

[2:14] Matt: It was off the air for a bit like it came back with Jane Lynch as the host.

[2:18] Andrew: And then it's been gone for like a year, two, maybe three years, right, Andrew?

[2:23] Andrew: For Oh, don't I don't I don't keep up with Weakest Link. So I didn't I just thought this was the season premiere of Weakest Link.

[2:31] Matt: Has it been off the air? It's been gone for a bit. Now, let me let me look it up. Because wait, what happened was Iman and I went to cover it on the Choir Room podcast when it first re-debuted.

[2:44] Matt: Yeah, we got through like five episodes and we're like, what the hell are we doing?

[2:50] Andrew: Is that a show that you can like recap and like, Oh, is there like a fan base? They're like, I gotta hear what people think about last night's Weakest Link.

[2:58] Matt: It was not.

[3:00] Matt: Yeah. But I love the show, though. I was super excited for it to come back. I used to be obsessed with it when I was a kid.

[3:04] Matt: Yeah. And it would come on on GSN. And so when they brought it back with Jane Lynch, I was all in. I mean, I don't think anybody is ever really going to be able to capture the same energy and wit of the incomparable Miss Anne Robinson as the host.

[3:20] Matt: But Jane Lynch did a good job, I think.

[3:22] Andrew: So it was announced on May 12, 2025 that the show was going to move to Fox with celebrity contestants and be now the celebrity Weakest Link.

[3:30] Matt: But the last season aired, premiering on April 11, 2023. So it has been about two years since this Jane Lynch version. And now they, I guess, said the only way that people will watch is with celebrities. And obviously, you know, us three and probably many others listening to this are going to tune in for that Glee episode.

[3:51] Andrew: I was going to say I looked at that picture of everybody there.

[3:57] Matt: Yeah. Didn't recognize everyone right off the bat.

[4:01] Matt: I thought Becca Tobin was Kirsten Chenoweth.

[4:04] Andrew: Oh, I didn't do that.

[4:10] Matt: Granted, I only saw the picture like maybe once or twice and I looked at it for like two seconds.

[4:13] Matt: But yeah, everyone does look rather different. Lots of weight loss for some people.

[4:22] Matt: Some work done, I think, for some people. And there's just some general aging for people.

[4:27] Andrew: OK, I'll give you the Becca Tobin.

[4:29] Matt: Oh, wait, so they age too in the past 10 years. Oh, OK, got it.

[4:33] Matt: I'll give you the Becca Tobin Kirsten Chenoweth. She's doing the mouth thing.

[4:36] Andrew: Yeah, right.

[4:38] Matt: But no, I did not. And I'm so sorry. I know I believe it's a former guest of the podcast. I did not get Max Adler until about three hours ago.

[4:46] Andrew: Max Adler? Wait, are you saying Max Adler has been on this podcast?

[4:49] Matt: Has he? Has he not?

[4:51] Andrew: Sorry.

[4:53] Matt: Wait, no, it's so funny. And I don't know.

[4:54] Matt: This is actually not in the future.

[4:56] Andrew: That's not in the future.

[4:58] Matt: No, it's though this is shady.

[5:01] Matt: I might cut it out.

[5:02] Matt: But it's so funny because like Max Adler, I emailed his people like I was like, I his like people were very responsive, like over the past few years.

[5:10] Matt: And it was like, OK, not at this time, not this time.

[5:12] Matt: And then like one time they emailed back, Max would like to step away from Glee for good.

[5:19] Andrew: And I was like, oh, OK, that's fair.

[5:20] Andrew: That's fine. I respect that.

[5:21] Matt: OK.

[5:22] Matt: Next week was on that. That's what you really miss.

[5:25] Andrew: And now he's doing this and I'm like, OK.

[5:28] Matt: Maybe they were sort of like pre-recorded before you asked.

[5:30] Andrew: No, it's OK. It's OK.

[5:32] Matt: Max Adler, Max Adler follows Gleek the Week Pod on Instagram.

[5:35] Andrew: And you know what, Max Adler, if you ever decide to come Gleek it, you're welcome.

[5:42] Aman: Agents are funny because we actually had a guest on very recently on Aman and I's podcast, The Diary Room.

[5:48] Aman: Of course, anybody that's been keeping up with either of us knows that we've stolen Andrew's idea here and turned it into a Big Brother podcast.

[5:58] Aman: So one of the guests that we had recently, I tried to first contact her through her agent through the email on her Instagram bio.

[6:07] Aman: And the agent said, if it's not a paid appearance, then unfortunately it was going to be a no.

[6:12] Aman: Wound up getting in touch with this person through other means.

[6:15] Aman: And thus they were on the podcast.

[6:16] Aman: But all that is to say, these agents might not always know what's best for them.

[6:21] Andrew: Oh no, it's like really great. I could go on forever talking about certain agents of Glee cast members that I'm just like, and that would I've already revealed too much with the Max Adler of it all.

[6:34] Andrew: But yeah, some of those agents are kind of crazy.

[6:39] Andrew: But anyway, any other thoughts about Weakest Link?

[6:43] Aman: I mean, I'm definitely going to tune in.

[6:45] Matt: Does it say Winner Dares, Matt?

[6:47] Matt: Yeah, September 15th.

[6:49] Aman: I'm definitely going to.

[6:50] Aman: Actually, I don't know if that's like the Glee episode or just a series premiere.

[6:53] Matt: Yeah, yeah, yeah.

[6:55] Andrew: September 15th.

[6:56] Andrew: Well, I'm glad that the show is still going.

[6:58] Andrew: Because yeah, until I saw the announcement for this, I was like, wait a second.

[7:04] Andrew: I haven't felt like I've seen much of this show.

[7:07] Andrew: So I'm glad that, you know, someone over at, what is it on NBC?

[7:10] Matt: Fox.

[7:11] Andrew: Fox.

[7:12] Andrew: I'm glad that somebody at Fox is like, yeah, let's bring this shit back.

[7:14] Matt: I'm sure they're all contractually obligated to come back.

[7:17] Matt: If we, yeah, okay.

[7:19] Matt: If we did like a draft of who we would have expected to be here.

[7:22] Matt: First of all, whoever had like the first or second pick would have lost because Kevin McHale is not there.

[7:26] Andrew: Kevin McHale, right, right.

[7:29] Matt: He was in a show, right?

[7:30] Matt: Yeah, that was a, yeah, he was in London.

[7:33] Andrew: I believe, I would assume, yeah.

[7:35] Matt: Okay, okay.

[7:37] Matt: But I think I also would have like lost points in that draft for Amber Riley actually being there.

[7:42] Matt: I did not, I would not have foreseen that.

[7:45] Andrew: But okay, wait, wait, wait.

[7:46] Andrew: But then you need to consider that Amber Riley loves a game show.

[7:50] Matt: She, hmm, is Dancing with the Stars a game show?

[7:52] Andrew: Well, okay.

[7:53] Andrew: Amber Riley won Masked Singer.

[7:54] Matt: I mean, it's a competition show.

[7:56] Andrew: And also, wait, why do I feel like Celebrity Jeopardy or something like that?

[8:01] Andrew: Like there was a third one that she also won.

[8:05] Matt: Was she on like Family Feud with like other Glee cast members?

[8:07] Andrew: I don't think it was Family Feud, but yeah.

[8:11] Matt: No, she likes a game show.

[8:13] Aman: So she would have been in my roster.

[8:15] Aman: Well, I'm rooting for her now then.

[8:16] Aman: I want to see her win.

[8:17] Matt: You can't tell me also that Jacob Artist didn't say yes to this and somehow Max Adler got the spot over him.

[8:22] Aman: No shade Max Adler.

[8:24] Aman: I don't know who's asked though.

[8:25] Matt: You never know.

[8:26] Matt: He might not have been the one that was asked.

[8:27] Aman: I fear that Jacob Artist wasn't asked.

[8:30] Matt: This is getting into, again, shady territory, but I don't think that he was.

[8:34] Andrew: I don't know.

[8:37] Andrew: I mean, I don't know.

[8:41] Aman: He's, I was so interested in the Jacob Artist journey of this summer.

[8:44] Aman: I am always interested in the Jacob Artist journey, you know, well-documented.

[8:46] Andrew: What do you mean?

[8:46] Aman: He was like recapping Love Island on his TikTok weekly.

[8:52] Aman: He was all over this season, Nickelandria, the Sierra drama.

[8:56] Andrew: This means not much to, I don't think either of you, but he was on top.

[8:59] Matt: I know a little bit about what's going on.

[9:01] Aman: He was on top of it.

[9:02] Andrew: Okay, interesting.

[9:03] Andrew: I didn't peg him for one that would be into that kind of thing, but I feel like Love Island is kind of just taking the world by storm.

[9:11] Aman: I don't know what it is about this particular season that's getting everybody in a tizzy about it, but okay.

[9:15] Andrew: All right, Jacob.

[9:15] Andrew: Maybe I'll have to go back and watch some of his stuff.

[9:18] Aman: I feel like I would have loved to have seen Harry Shum included.

[9:22] Matt: Oh, he's busy.

[9:23] Aman: I think he's just too busy.

[9:25] Matt: Yeah.

[9:25] Matt: He's booked, but I don't know.

[9:28] Matt: I guess I would have thought one or two other people here booked.

[9:30] Matt: According to Overstreet, he's been in some show that is some tropical paradise setting for seasons now, and I haven't pressed play.

[9:35] Aman: Yeah, yeah.

[9:39] Matt: It's always number one recommended when I go on.

[9:43] Andrew: Is it on Amazon?

[9:45] Matt: I don't know.

[9:46] Matt: And then Dot Marie Jones is in the Booking.com, Booking.com commercial.

[9:51] Aman: You know what?

[9:51] Aman: She's getting that money.

[9:52] Matt: She's getting Alex Newell, Tony Winner.

[9:56] Andrew: Come on, guys.

[9:57] Andrew: Who's the next Glee cast member to be in a Christmas Netflix special with Lindsay Lohan?

[10:04] Aman: Now that we've had Kord.

[10:04] Matt: With Lindsay Lohan, it has to be.

[10:06] Aman: With Lindsay Lohan?

[10:06] Aman: Is that the parameters that we're dealing with?

[10:08] Matt: I mean, we've had Kord, and we've had Kristen now.

[10:10] Aman: Oh, that's true.

[10:12] Matt: Oh, wait a minute.

[10:14] Aman: And it's Max Adler.

[10:15] Aman: I mean, I'm looking at the picture.

[10:19] Aman: I think Becca Tobin would be really fun starring opposite Lindsay Lohan.

[10:24] Matt: I would watch the shit out of that.

[10:27] Aman: Yeah.

[10:27] Aman: Oh my god.

[10:27] Aman: Alex Newell could be a candidate as well.

[10:30] Aman: I started watching Simple Favor 2 with Alex Newell, amongst other people.

[10:36] Aman: And I had to turn that off.

[10:38] Aman: I hardly ever turn off movies.

[10:41] Aman: Couldn't get through it.

[10:42] Matt: Wow.

[10:43] Matt: Really, really bad.

[10:43] Aman: There's an Amber Riley Christmas movie that came on BET, I want to say maybe about five or six or seven years ago.

[10:50] Aman: And it's, let's just say she's the best part of that movie.

[10:54] Matt: Wait, is that the one that she's like playing like a drunk?

[10:57] Aman: Yeah, it's so iconic.

[11:02] Aman: I think that's like Loretta Devine is playing her mom.

[11:04] Matt: Yes, I forgot about Loretta Devine.

[11:06] Aman: Yes, she like wakes up.

[11:06] Aman: First scene in the movie is her just taking shots of like Tito's.

[11:11] Aman: And I was like, oh, okay.

[11:13] Matt: It's so funny.

[11:15] Aman: I need to watch that again.

[11:17] Aman: I feel like there's like three Amber Riley Christmas movies, and I've seen them all.

[11:20] Matt: I think it's like Deja Vu Christmas, I think that's what it's called.

[11:23] Aman: I had no idea there were three.

[11:25] Matt: Wait, oh, no, there was one.

[11:26] Aman: Oh my god.

[11:28] Aman: There's one that she's like working at a school and she like develops like a friendship with one of her students.

[11:34] Aman: And oh, it's just they're all so good.

[11:38] Aman: My parents love watching Hallmark Christmas movies, and I used to hate them growing up.

[11:42] Aman: And now I don't know, maybe it's an age thing.

[11:43] Aman: Now I'm like really getting into them.

[11:44] Matt: It's kind of disgusting.

[11:45] Aman: But hey, here we are.

[11:46] Matt: No, I think for a while I was like, I thought like they were like laughably like, just like bad, but like now they're like laughably bad, you know?

[11:57] Aman: Yeah.

[11:58] Aman: I'm here for them.

[11:59] Andrew: But okay.

[12:01] Andrew: Any final thoughts on Hallmark?

[12:03] Andrew: Weakest Link?

[12:05] Andrew: Anything?

[12:07] Aman: Well, no, maybe not that.

[12:08] Aman: But can I bounce us somewhere else?

[12:10] Andrew: Please.

[12:10] Aman: Is that okay?

[12:12] Aman: It's been a minute, you know, since popping in here, just life was going on.

[12:16] Aman: But so happy to be back.

[12:17] Aman: So happy to like unleash the Gleek again.

[12:20] Aman: And I can't believe that since I have been away for what, two months?

[12:24] Andrew: Gleek of the Week?

[12:25] Aman: Not Gleek of the Week.

[12:26] Aman: Gleek of the Week is not over.

[12:27] Aman: And That's What You Really Missed is over.

[12:28] Andrew: Like recapping Glee.

[12:31] Aman: Oh, it is?

[12:32] Andrew: Yeah.

[12:32] Andrew: Why are you laughing?

[12:34] Aman: Didn't they have like three seasons left or something?

[12:36] Andrew: No, no, they're done.

[12:40] Aman: It's funny because like, I recorded now.

[12:43] Aman: Okay, now like we're messing with time too much, maybe.

[12:45] Andrew: I know.

[12:46] Andrew: I'm still waiting for your episode to come out.

[12:47] Aman: But maybe it's coming out soon.

[12:49] Aman: It's so funny.

[12:50] Aman: I woke up this morning because their producer, their lovely producer, Sam, who I cannot speak highly enough about.

[12:57] Aman: After the...

[12:57] Andrew: Actually, I have bad things to say about Sam because he never booked him on and I but...

[13:00] Aman: Well, you're also misgendering their producer.

[13:03] Andrew: It's Samantha.

[13:04] Aman: I have bad things to say about her.

[13:08] Aman: After I did that recording, doing the Erez tour setlist, I was told that it would be released the day that we were recording right now, August 18th.

[13:18] Aman: And I woke up this morning, I was like, oh, today's going to be great.

[13:21] Aman: My new episode is out.

[13:23] Aman: And I checked and sure enough, it was another episode.

[13:27] Andrew: So I hope that by the time you're listening to this, it has been released.

[13:31] Aman: It was a fun recording.

[13:33] Aman: I would love to hear it.

[13:33] Matt: I would like to hear it again too.

[13:36] Aman: Yeah, that's Hollywood for you.

[13:37] Aman: They always tell you, you know, it's never official until it's out.

[13:41] Andrew: Also, I didn't get to finish today's episode. I'm gonna, you know, hang in there with them through the rest of their Gleek coverage. I'm very anticipatory. That's not a word. Very anticipatory. But I'm very much anticipating whatever it is that they're doing next. Obviously, it sounds like they're gonna keep going. But so, Aman, in today's episode, we're talking about like, I guess, listeners voted on their favorites of this and that and that. What, at one time, we have called the best episode of Glee, The Breakup, didn't even make the listener's top ten. Didn't make the list. I was surprised.

[14:13] Aman: I'm shocked by that.

[14:15] Andrew: Yep. There are ten whole other episodes that came before The Breakup.

[14:23] Aman: Yep. A lot of them were like, pretty standard answers, though. Like, your Grilled Cheezus, your...

[14:29] Andrew: I was actually surprised Grilled Cheezus made it in the top ten. Like, you remember the name of the episode, Grilled Cheezus, and you're like, oh, I love that episode. Did you? Nationals.

[14:40] Aman: Yeah.

[14:41] Andrew: Journey to Regionals.

[14:43] Aman: Oh, like duets didn't even make top ten.

[14:44] Andrew: That's crazy, too.

[14:46] Aman: Yeah.

[14:47] Andrew: I have been long a champion of duets, and that's crazy. That's absolutely crazy. These are the casual Gleeks, and I don't know. I mean, if they're out here listening, if you voted and you didn't have the, you know...

[14:57] Aman: They could be anywhere. It's so scary.

[14:59] Andrew: Scary, but I just can't believe that the podcast is, you know, at the... I asked them at the end of the episode that when you're listening to it has been out, you have not listened to it because it hasn't been released. At the end of the recording, I asked, are you excited about whatever you're doing next? Because you've been very cryptic about it, and they said yes. So I don't know what it is, but they are doing something. So.

[15:21] Aman: Yeah.

[15:22] Andrew: Anyway. I saw some comments in, like, Reddit, maybe people being like, oh, they should do Smash next. I'm like, what are you, Amon? Like, that's exactly what Amon said we should do after we were done.

[15:28] Aman: Smash is fantastic.

[15:34] Andrew: I tried it, it didn't work.

[15:36] Aman: Okay, season two's a little...

[15:37] Andrew: But season one is such good, good TV, good musical TV. I loved it.

[15:43] Aman: I also actually know of two people that are beginning their Glee rewatch, covering it for content journey right now, and I'm like, that's crazy. Imagine.

[15:53] Andrew: Who? Who are these people?

[15:55] Aman: It's two Big Brother alumni, actually. They're... For Big Brother fans and for Amon, it's AmeriCorey. They're beginning on their Patreon. They're doing some Glee rewatch.

[16:05] Andrew: Okay, well, we got to be booked. We got to be booked.

[16:08] Aman: We're ready.

[16:10] Andrew: I would love to talk some Glee with AmeriCorey. That sounds amazing. So, just imagine being at the very beginning of revisiting Glee for the first time.

[16:18] Aman: Imagine. Okay, wait, so I do have, okay, randomly enough, I have the possibility of a Gloysmail, and obviously, we haven't talked about grievances. How do we feel with the time constraint, Matt?

[16:31] Matt: Oh, no, you're fine. We're good. Do you want to do a Gloysmail?

[16:36] Aman: Yes, I don't know if it's gonna have anything to do with something that I think is a pressing issue for us all to discuss. We'll come back to it if it's not the same thing. It is a Gloysmail that was sent months ago, so it's nothing new. Okay.

[16:52] Hannah: Hi, this is Hannah. I have left a Gloysmail before, about why Texted is objectively the worst episode of Glee, and now I'm back leaving a more positive Gloysmail with something that's been on my mind that I needed to share with the Glooniverse. I have been thinking about two songs that I think could win the Black It that no one is talking about. So I wanted to spread the message and get people's opinions on, do we think that these are songs that can win the Black It, or am I just biased? And what could take these songs down? Because in my mind, not very much. So number one is Homeward Bound Home, because it is a mash-up, which I feel like obviously gives it points. It is such an emo reunion moment.

It makes me cry every time I watch it, because it's like, oh my gosh, everyone's back, and we're all still friends. Wow. It's been like nine months since I've seen you. Wow. And I think it's a really emotional performance. The vocals are amazing. It's like, I said it's a mash-up, so points for it being a mash-up. I know recently people have been really into the diversity hires, so making sure that a lot of characters' representation, which I have problems with for different reasons, but Mike Chang is in that one, which we don't get a lot of Mike. We have Quinn, who's not going to be on all that much.

[18:10] Andrew: You don't have to sell me. I'm in.

[18:12] Hannah: The diversity hires in that one. So for me, it's emotional. It has really good vocals. It's a mash-up. It has all the characters. It's not Blackpink for Dummies, because it's like season four, so it's like not one that a lot of people think of. That's my one. My second one, also season four, is The Scientist. That's my other one. I hope people are talking about this a little bit more, but still not a ton, because it's from The Brace-Up, which is obviously like one of everyone's favorite episodes. It contains all of the main characters in the show, which points for that, because especially later on, you don't get a ton of that. Like I said, season four, so again, not like Blackpink for Dummies.

And the vocals are amazing. It's a very homework at home. It's a very emotional moment. Anyway, those are my thoughts. These two kind of emo songs, because I feel like when we think about winners of the black kit, we think about happy songs, like Paradise or Someone to Do Love. But these are two emo, kind of sad moments that, in my mind, I feel like could win the black kit because of their significance. So that's kind of my thoughts. I'm curious to hear what people think, and if what could beat them. So, okay. I love you things of the week. Mwah. Bye.

[19:18] Andrew: Queen of my life, Hannah, thank you so much for leaving a Gloyce Mail. And as a reminder, you also can leave a Gloyce Mail at 347-719-1160. The phone number is in the description of every single episode.

[19:34] Aman: Okay. So, unpacking this homework bound home and the scientists, I feel like I agree that people are really pointing to the happier songs as, like, advancing. But these two, I feel like people aren't talking about enough. What do we think?

[19:52] Matt: I'm always talking about them, just to throw that out there.

[19:57] Aman: I mean, I think if I had to choose out of the two, I think I'd definitely go for the scientists, only because it is part of one of the best episodes, if not the best episode of Glee, in my opinion. And like she said, it is such a character moment for everybody involved. It's such a turning point for the show. It's such an adult moment for the show. But homework bound home is also a nice turning point, and another more, like, adult reminiscent moment in the show as well. I can totally see the love for that, but I do think that it loses points only because it is an episode that you kind of blink and you miss it if you're not really checking in with Glee. Whereas with The Breakup, that's the one that if you checked out, you came back just to see, oh, who's breaking up? You know what I mean? So, I feel like The Breakup or The Scientist definitely takes my vote out of the two of them, for sure.

[21:02] Aman: I mean, if we're just advocating for both of them to go deep because they are both in?

[21:03] Matt: They're still in the cup. You have to be cool.

[21:05] Aman: Okay. And they, yeah, absolutely should be making pretty deep runs. It's just, I don't know. I mean, homework bound home, I feel like it's, Hannah speaking to me, like this emo type of Glee song that's just like going to make you feel something and maybe isn't one of the more obvious picks. Like, that's what I want. That is what I want to listen to. Not black and red dummies.

[21:29] Matt: No, that is not the overplayed Glee songs where it's like, okay, yeah, we all know this and this and that. It's great. And it's always going to be great. But like these hidden gems that even though all of us are aware of them, still feel like hidden gems. The reason The Breakup is so good, a lot of reasons, but the end of the episode, closing with The Scientist, it's like, you could say all the negative things about the television show Glee, and there are many, but you can't say that moments like that aren't cinema. The Scientist, like, oh my god, like the kind of like peak vocals for like, almost everybody included.

[22:05] Aman: Everyone.

[22:06] Matt: Like it just like, I think, without looking at a list, Heather Morris, best vocal.

[22:11] Aman: I love the Naya vocal on it. I love the-

[22:14] Matt: Can I just say?

[22:16] Aman: Yes.

[22:17] Matt: I do feel like, and Gleeks, correct me if I'm wrong, I do feel like every song that is still eligible for Heather Morris tends to come with the tagline, are these Heather Morris's best vocals?

[22:29] Aman: Best vocal?

[22:31] Matt: I mean, you can make a playlist of the best vocal from Heather Morris. Yeah.

[22:39] Aman: Oh, I could think of so many. Tell Him. What else is like coming to mind?

[22:43] Matt: Dinosaur came up recently.

[22:45] Aman: Dinosaur.

[22:46] Matt: More than words. I think a hidden gem. Yeah. I, best Timo. I feel like I'm still kind of a champion for wishing and hoping when it comes to-

[22:56] Aman: Oh my god. Thank you. That's, that's the one that was-

[22:59] Matt: Best Heather Morris vocals.

[23:00] Aman: It's good. She's like carrying that song.

[23:03] Matt: Yes, she really is. But Homeward Bound Home, I will say like about that song, like, even as you're describing it, Hannah, like, I'm like, I don't think that like it's as good as I remember. But then every time that it's in front of me, I'm like, wait a minute, there's so much here. Because I'm thinking about like the SANSADES vocals, especially.

[23:27] Aman: I love the Quinn kind of like a cold open of it all. It's very cute. Yeah.

[23:33] Matt: Slow walk onto the stage.

[23:35] Aman: When the three of them-

[23:36] Matt: Light hits her face.

[23:37] Aman: Yeah.

[23:37] Matt: Enter the stage from like all different areas in the back of the auditorium, and then they all come together and home for the holidays, just like we all promised. The Mercedes coming in for that second verse, really just ramping it up when that beat comes in. Like, truly the Oz of that song could be peak bleak. Like, I don't know that anything else, even maybe the Scientist. I mean, there are great two songs to put in the same conversation here. Not much else gives me the full body chills like those do.

[24:06] Aman: Yeah. And it's so crazy because like, I mean, she mentioned nine months, girl, it hasn't been nine months. It's been like more like-

[24:12] Matt: Wait, I was doing the count. I was counting in my head. I was like, okay, wait, wait. Okay.

[24:15] Aman: So if they graduate like in May, I mean-

[24:18] Matt: Graduate in May, maybe June, probably June.

[24:21] Aman: Probably June.

[24:22] Matt: And they don't all leave Lima until maybe August. So really it's been like-

[24:27] Aman: Three months maybe?

[24:30] Matt: And some of them are still there. So it's like-

[24:32] Aman: Right, right, right. Yeah. We're really extending this absence. Um, yeah, interesting. I'm like, I don't know, the Scientist I'm like kind of like scared about for some reason. I don't know. I'm like, I really want the best for her. She's really, really special. Anyway, anything further to say about that before we move on to Grievances?

[24:54] Matt: No, happy to just be a part of advocating for them.

[24:58] Andrew: Perfect. I will say when I have fears about a song going through, it's usually because of Andrew. I usually have more concerns about Andrew not liking it as much than I do about the guest. I know everyone's afraid of Amon. Amon is here today.

[25:12] Aman: I know. And I'm still really shocked about that. I really felt like I was a team.

[25:16] Andrew: I think it's like two, just two specific loud people that are like, what is Amon doing to our Glackett?

[25:26] Aman: Wait, but Amon, you were obviously here recently. Matt, it's been a minute since you've been here. Grievances that come to mind since your last appearance?

[25:36] Matt: Yeah, so I don't know that a ton is like too overtly upsetting. But being alive, going through over Thriller, Heads Will Roll, while I acknowledge that being alive is some good vocals, Thriller, Heads Will Roll...

[25:51] Aman: Debatably, Heather Morris's best vocal.

[25:53] Matt: Potentially. Thriller, Heads Will Roll did not deserve to even be considered a round three exit. That's just how I feel.

[26:02] Aman: She was voted back in.

[26:05] Matt: Yeah, I appreciate that. And then so the thing that I think Amon and I have to address here today, this isn't necessarily a grievance, but it's just on my list of things to get to. Be okay.

[26:22] Aman: Be okay.

[26:23] Matt: It's been brought up a lot.

[26:25] Aman: But we're the ones that were there at the beginning. That was us.

[26:29] Matt: Episode 10, yeah.

[26:30] Aman: Episode 10 of this podcast, Amon and I's first appearance.

[26:34] Matt: I remember, yeah.

[26:37] Aman: The matchup, as has been discussed very recently, Be Okay versus Loser Like Me. Now, I'm looking at the chart, the voting chart. Amon and I both voted for Be Okay. Does this chart say how you voted, Andrew?

[26:51] Andrew: Yeah, I voted for Be Okay as well.

[26:54] Aman: Okay. Oh, I'm at the top of the chart. Hello. Yeah, so it's just Alison that voted for Loser Like Me. Now, there's so many different ways that I can go with this. I think the first way that I want to go is the way that you three, Claudia, Ian, talking to all three of you, were slamming Be Okay as if it was like the worst song ever performed on Glee in the whole freaking catalog. I was talking to my phone.

[27:21] Andrew: Back at all three of you saying, everybody relax. It's gonna be okay.

[27:27] Aman: It's in the title.

[27:28] Matt: It's in the title.

[27:31] Andrew: Go ahead.

[27:31] Matt: Lovely setup, Andrew.

[27:36] Aman: At the risk of sounding a little contrarian today, I think we may have made the wrong choice.

[27:43] Matt: Oh, we did.

[27:44] Aman: Yeah, it was so bad.

[27:46] Matt: We did. We all did. Well, not Allison.

[27:49] Aman: We kind of raised a monster, in a sense, that it's like, oh, no.

[27:55] Aman: And I never thought that I would be in this emotional position where I'm like, is a loser like me finally growing on me all these years later?

[28:06] Andrew: I mean, at least three years later, right, Aman?

[28:09] Aman: We're talking about four, over four.

[28:11] Andrew: Three years later?

[28:11] Aman: Yes.

[28:13] Aman: So, yeah, it's interesting. I'm still not mad about it.

[28:19] Aman: If it were to go up for a revote and be okay one again, I wouldn't have pitchforks or anything, but I'd be like, just because it's so uniquely Glee.

[28:27] Matt: It's Glee.

[28:32] Aman: Yeah, I know that we dogged on it a lot for being Disney Channel and all that, but it still has this unique flavor to it that you wouldn't hear anywhere else other than Glee.

[28:46] Aman: And just like, I don't know, I think maybe it should happen.

[28:50] Aman: For me, it was like, Be Okay, I think, presented itself to me. You know, it's late in the show, shiny object of, you know, these two beautiful women, beautiful voices that have come together.

[29:02] Matt: Yes.

[29:03] Aman: They sound good.

[29:04] Matt: But they sound better on other tracks in that very same season together.

[29:08] Aman: Yeah, yeah, yeah. But we're talking about this competition, though.

[29:12] Matt: I agree that every breath you take, I think, is massively underrated.

[29:17] Aman: It's so cool.

[29:18] Matt: We just lost Brave very recently, which was tough.

[29:22] Aman: But also, I understood that it might have been Brave's time to go.

[29:25] Matt: Wait, you're looking at it. What did Brave lose to again?

[29:29] Aman: Please Hold.

[29:30] Matt: It lost to Keep Holding On Season 1, which also didn't like all of the discussion there.

[29:39] Aman: Put some respect on Keep Holding On's name.

[29:41] Matt: Emo, emotional.

[29:43] Aman: It got through.

[29:45] Matt: Yeah, but I don't think you voted for it.

[29:47] Aman: And I think you were so ready to let it go.

[29:51] Matt: Yeah.

[29:52] Aman: And I love Brave.

[29:52] Matt: I think you're ready to let it go too.

[29:54] Aman: No.

[29:55] Matt: Over Brave.

[29:55] Aman: I don't know why.

[29:57] Aman: That's one of the songs that I just don't get.

[29:59] Matt: Yeah.

[29:59] Matt: Keep Holding On not making the top, because we're making the top 100 here, right?

[30:02] Aman: You know what it is for me? I think the fact that it was the closeout song for the episodes of the Glee Project has cheapened it in a sense for me.

[30:12] Aman: I think that I associate Keep Holding On more so with the Glee Project than I do with Glee.

[30:19] Aman: I think that I have to actively think about why they were singing that song.

[30:23] Aman: And then I'm like, oh yeah, like the Quinn, the pregnancy, the whole thing.

[30:27] Matt: And not because they were eliminated on the Glee Project.

[30:32] Aman: But it just, I don't know. There's so many versions of it from the Glee Project, because each contestant got to sing it too. It just feels much more of that part of the Glee sphere than it does the actual show.

[30:45] Aman: So to me, I'm like, it's kind of diluted.

[30:47] Matt: It's like diluted blood.

[30:49] Aman: For the sake of being also a contrarian, I do think that Keep Holding On as a bit in the Glee Project, I think is, they didn't think it through.

[30:55] Matt: You know what I mean? That it was like, oh, like now we're like, oh my god, we're so tired of hearing it in every episode of Glee Project.

[31:05] Aman: But it's like, they're like, what a great idea. Yeah, let's just cap every episode with Keep Holding On.

[31:11] Matt: And it's just like, I don't know. I think something was lost in the thought.

[31:13] Aman: I like the idea. I mean, when I say cheapens it, I don't think that I like it any less. I just want to associate it more.

[31:20] Aman: I don't associate it with the show as much anymore. I associate it with that show.

[31:23] Matt: So to me, I liked hearing everyone's different interpretations of the song. I thought it was cool. I thought it showed the individuality of each contestant.

[31:34] Aman: But yeah, I just, I don't know. Brave is such a, oh, I just, oh my god. I just get chills every time I think about Nia's last cry.

[31:43] Matt: I'm back on Loser Like Me for a second. Andrew, if we had some kind of like, you know, I don't know, a vote or something, where of all the songs eliminated in round one, suppose like we got to vote on one song to come back in.

[31:57] Aman: Loser Like Me, I don't know if it wins that vote, given how many songs went up. But like, top five? Possibly.

[32:04] Matt: I actually don't know. The first one that's coming to mind that was like lost in round one, that like people were very upset about was, of course, we've talked about it so many times, My Life Would Suck Without You.

[32:17] Aman: That I'm like, that's, that is kind of crazy that that was in round one. But we've already talked a lot about that.

[32:23] Aman: But yeah, I'm trying to think like what other, I'm curious. Listening now, I would like to hear from you. What songs were left in round one that shouldn't have been left in round one? I want to know.

[32:34] Matt: It's just, you know, that was 2021. It is now 2025. And so to go four years without, you know, actually, I know that's crazy, to actually not have the further discussions of some of these round one eliminated songs. It's just like, you know, we still think about you. We just can't.

[32:50] Aman: We still think about you. You're like that meme with a girl lying on the floor. We just can't talk about you enough.

[32:59] Andrew: All right. Other grievance is not quite a grievance because I understand the vote and I don't disagree with the vote. Hungry, Like the Wolf, Rio. I think even in the last episode, I might have heard somebody agree and happy that it was gone.

[33:13] Aman: I am not happy that it's gone.

[33:15] Matt: But Up Against Here Comes the Sun.

[33:16] Aman: Yeah, you like a Demi Lovato.

[33:18] Matt: I do love a Demi Lovato. So I probably would have had to make that vote as well.

[33:23] Aman: But I wouldn't have been happy about it.

[33:25] Aman: And also, I just want to, I've been meaning to talk to you about, I know this is a tangent within itself.

[33:31] Matt: Love it.

[33:31] Aman: But the fact that I saw Demi Lovato with the Jonas Brothers, I felt like I was watching. This is so the cringe, whatever. But I felt like I was like the next morning already like watching a TikTok of it. You know what I mean? That it's like, surely I'm not experiencing this.

[33:50] Matt: But yeah, that was crazy. And I was thinking of you because I know that you're a big, big Demi fan.

[33:55] Aman: I got that experience of what you got there. Not to be like, this is gonna sound, I got that like 10 years ago. After Camp Rock had been gone for a while, I was at a Demi Lovato concert.

[34:09] Matt: And Joe Jonas came out.

[34:10] Aman: That's so fun.

[34:11] Matt: Oh, the parallels of it all.

[34:13] Aman: That's so good.

[34:14] Aman: Joe Jonas came out to sing with Demi Lovato from Camp Rock. And I have it somewhere deep in my phone.

[34:20] Aman: But I screamed louder than anybody in that arena in the highest pitch scream you could ever imagine.

[34:26] Matt: It's so bad. When you watch those videos back, you're like, when you're taking it, it's like, my voice is being drowned out by everybody.

[34:32] Aman: You won't be able to hear my voice in this. And then you watch it back and it's only your voice.

[34:38] Matt: Yeah.

[34:40] Aman: But I'll never forget that moment. And even if you don't feel like you were actually experiencing it, I'm sure you'll never forget it either. Just incredible.

[34:47] Matt: And Demi is just like killing it these days.

[34:50] Aman: She's back.

[34:53] Aman: She's got that song, Confident. And it just feels like she's walking around more confident than ever before in her sound, in her look.

[34:59] Matt: What'd you say?

[35:01] Aman: Is it called Confident? She does have a song called Confident.

[35:05] Matt: Wait, but are you singing a new song?

[35:06] Aman: Oh, no, not the new song. She just has a song called Confident.

[35:09] Matt: Oh, okay.

[35:11] Aman: The new song is kind of a flop.

[35:13] Matt: But that's okay.

[35:14] Aman: Look, I love it. Everybody needs one. You know, it's flopping. But I think it is a hit. I think it's slept on. I think that people are not giving that song what it deserves.

[35:26] Matt: And some of it, I think, is just because of who Demi is as a person half the time.

[35:33] Aman: Demi can be a little self-involved. She can get in her own way.

[35:37] Matt: No, but I think that she's kind of changing the narrative a little bit. She's in on the joke now.

[35:45] Aman: I don't know if that's who you're talking to. Some of these jokes, yeah. I was getting to it. I feel like because of the fact that she has an imputation, I feel like people aren't paying as much attention to her and giving her what she deserves. But I'm hoping that we are in the midst of a bit of a rebrand. But, you know, we'll see.

[36:01] Matt: I like this song. I loved the clips as she was teasing it for like six weeks of like, this is my new song coming. And I was like, oh, this is fun. And then the full song came out. And I was just like, wanting a little bit more.

[36:11] Aman: She was also doing interviews talking about, oh, my rock era didn't really work. And I was like, oh, no, it worked. Like, maybe you don't have to do it forever. That's fine.

[36:20] Matt: It was like rock covers of her own songs, right?

[36:22] Aman: And they were all so good.

[36:23] Matt: They were good, yeah.

[36:24] Aman: It's just like, I feel like half of these artists are like expecting to have like these big moment eras, which that doesn't really happen anymore. Unless you are like a gargantuan star, like people just consume, consume, consume, consume.

[36:40] Matt: And it's in and out the next day.

[36:42] Aman: Like, you just have to be fine with the little pop that you get. And then just try to have a series of small pops. That's kind of what it is for me.

[36:48] Matt: She did have a whole rock album. I am temporarily forgetting.

[36:50] Aman: Holy fuck, was.

[36:54] Matt: Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. I did listen to that one.

[36:55] Aman: The whole album. I love, was the song called I Love Me?

[37:01] Matt: No.

[37:01] Aman: What song was that from like 2020?

[37:03] Matt: What song, like where she's like going through all of her different eras, walking through the street.

[37:10] Aman: No.

[37:12] Matt: Oh, I know what you're talking about.

[37:15] Aman: Doesn't she like beat her own ass?

[37:17] Matt: You are correct. There's a song called I Love Me.

[37:19] Aman: I'm a fake Lovatik.

[37:21] Matt: Yeah, yeah.

[37:22] Aman: Wait, you know this song.

[37:24] Matt: I don't.

[37:24] Aman: Yeah.

[37:26] Matt: Yes, you do. It was like her single.

[37:27] Aman: It's like her debut single for that, wasn't it? Like a promo single.

[37:31] Matt: I don't even know what the chorus is right now, but yeah.

[37:33] Aman: I can't think of how it goes, but I've definitely listened to it a few times.

[37:37] Matt: Okay, well, I'll just say forgive me if I miss something in the year of 2020.

[37:40] Aman: Okay.

[37:41] Aman: But Demi Lovato also found her home in round four of the Glackett. Returning to Grievances, Matt, what other things are coming to mind for you?

[37:53] Matt: No, I think that's really all. Most of these decisions lately have been okay. Just again, go easy on, you know, we're in round three. These aren't the worst songs that we've ever heard.

[38:04] Aman: You're right, you're right. You gotta slit the throat.

[38:08] Matt: You just gotta be brutal. I mean, I'm scared for Amon and I getting to our round three at some point, and oh boy.

[38:16] Aman: I'm ready for the carnage.

[38:17] Matt: I know, but I also don't envy you at all because you're actually talking about actual people.

[38:22] Aman: About people, yeah.

[38:23] Matt: You can't be saying, like, these people are going to hell at the end of the episode.

[38:28] Aman: Why the hell not?

[38:28] Matt: Because some of them are.

[38:29] Aman: And why not? Who's gonna check me, boo?

[38:33] Matt: Some of them are. Chasing Pavement's verse, Ain't No Way, was tough.

[38:37] Aman: Chasing Pavement's verse, Ain't No Way, was tough.

[38:39] Matt: Oh, it hurt.

[38:40] Aman: It was tough.

[38:41] Aman: I'm, like, afraid that people are going to be, like, annoyed with me for voting for Chasing Pavement.

[38:47] Matt: I agreed. I was with you. I love it.

[38:51] Aman: It's really good. Anyway. It's so interesting because the whole storyline behind that with Mercedes being overshadowed half the time.

[39:02] Matt: But Mercedes is so much all over the rest of the Glackett, whereas Marley is not.

[39:06] Aman: So that not only would have pushed me, but also Chasing Pavement's is so good.

[39:10] Matt: Oh, wait. Actually, you would find this interesting. Let me find this really quick.

[39:14] Aman: Oh, OK.

[39:15] Matt: So as of right now in this very moment, in terms of who has solos in round four, Mercedes and Blaine and Santana are triple tied for verse with two.

[39:23] Aman: Mercedes, Blaine, Santana each have two.

[39:28] Matt: And then all these other characters each have one. So we're looking at Brittany, Unique, Tina, Harmony, Lindsay Pierce, Emma, Kurt, Holly Holliday and Will.

[39:41] Aman: OK.

[39:42] Matt: None for Rachel yet.

[39:45] Aman: Some are saying that that's Brittany's best solo, best vocal.

[39:49] Matt: Yeah.

[39:50] Aman: None for Rachel. That's crazy.

[39:51] Matt: All right. Well, maybe today. We already got rid of three Rolos in round three of the Glackett. So that's crazy.

[39:56] Aman: Yeah. I was there crying.

[40:00] Matt: I think I was there.

[40:02] Aman: Well, cry got you like you were there.

[40:05] Matt: Were you there?

[40:07] Aman: Was I there?

[40:08] Matt: Was I just complaining about it?

[40:09] Aman: Cry lost to Nasty Rhythm Nation.

[40:12] Matt: I think you were there for that.

[40:13] Aman: I think I was there.

[40:15] Matt: Oh, we were there for that, weren't we?

[40:16] Aman: Because when we both.

[40:16] Matt: Not you, just me.

[40:17] Aman: No, Amon, you were there for in round two for Nasty Rhythm Nation.

[40:24] Matt: Oh, wait, wait, wait, wait a second. Because when we're both thirsting over Jacob.

[40:29] Aman: Did that happen in round two for us?

[40:30] Matt: I think that I had two separate conversations with both of you about it.

[40:34] Aman: We were swayed by abs.

[40:36] Matt: That makes sense.

[40:37] Aman: All I know is that this is Amon and I's first together round three podcast.

[40:41] Matt: Right.

[40:41] Aman: It's been a while. It's been over a year since I've had you both on the same time anyway.

[40:47] Andrew: Manifestations for this episode. What of these four songs are you hoping to see?

[40:54] Aman: Hmm. I mean, the songs that Hannah was talking about would be great to pass along.

[41:03] Aman: But we also just talked about them. So that's like not fresh discussion. But I would also just be happy to be here and get them through. I think I'm still sort of like on my kick that I was the last time that I was here. And I got lucky enough to have New Directions closing episode numbers and we got Mamma Mia last time. So I'm kind of still wanting more of that because I just I love those. I don't know how many of those are left. But if there are any left, I know that Home season six version is still in the cup. And that's a very topical song right now because people are saying that it's the worst song. I don't know if you have this reached you. People are saying this is the worst song of all time.

[41:40] Matt: Oh, that song itself, not the Glee.

[41:42] Aman: Not the Glee version. But the original they're like they're I think it's not aging well. Anyway.

[41:50] Matt: Okay. That's because they're not listening to the Glee version.

[41:55] Aman: Oh, okay. Season one.

[42:00] Matt: Season one.

[42:02] Aman: Just know you're not alone. Not alone. Where is it? Here it is. Let's see what the first thumbnail is. Oh, I don't think you're gonna get it. Maybe. It's kind of hard. Okay.

[42:17] Matt: To serve with love.

[42:19] Aman: It is to serve with love.

[42:21] Matt: Okay, to serve with love. Who wants to start the discourse?

[42:26] Aman: I'm glad we got to go somewhere emo. If not, yeah. Emo songs. It's the topic of the day.

[42:32] Matt: Emo. Yeah. And this isn't quite closing number song, but close enough.

[42:35] Aman: Is it? No, it's not that far off. It's like, it's closing a number coded. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Um, I want to obviously bring up the fact that it had a nasty work competition in round two. Matt, if you recall, it did beat out mine, Santolo.

[43:00] Matt: Oh, this is that girl.

[43:02] Aman: I just want to reignite the fumes here.

[43:06] Matt: Oh my goodness. Yeah. Okay. I don't want to take it out on her. And it could happen again. Because of course, you know, I don't want to take it out on her. And it could happen again. Because of course, mine was voted back in.

[43:17] Aman: Oh, it's not happening again.

[43:23] Matt: So, you know, I will shut down this podcast.

[43:29] Aman: I will turn this podcast around.

[43:33] Matt: You know, the one thing about this song that I always keep thinking is gonna happen, you know, those Dululu parts of you that expect a different thing to happen, even though you've seen this thing over and over and over again. I'm still waiting for that Matt solo.

[43:50] Aman: At the beginning of the year, I was another football player.

[43:52] Matt: Baby, you kind of still are.

[43:56] Aman: Because you most certainly ain't singing, bitch. I'm still waiting on that. But this is, um, yeah, this obviously is a very pivotal moment. I think for Sue's character, we really get to see a lot of her humanity, even at the very tail end of this song. But I also think that this is sort of just like a culmination of the season, getting to see all of these kids really care for something that they didn't think that they would care about, at least for a few of them. So yeah, I think it's just a really sweet reminder number about like what the show is all about. And I just love all of the solos interspersed throughout, which there were a couple more. But yeah, I think that this is just a pretty, a pretty strong number. I think it's something that we tend to forget about because we tend to focus a little bit more on what happens immediately after.

[45:00] Matt: Yeah, that's a great shot with Sue because obviously, it feels like much more like on paper to talk about New Directions and Will. But this is a great moment for Sue and a great episode for Sue. I like often forget about like that scene with like all the judges, where like, it's like her kind of like understanding like, like, you know what this glee club like represents, like being a loser within this circle of like Josh Groban, Olivia and John, that it's like, yeah, we're gonna be leaving on our private jets right now. And you're cheerleading coach in Ohio. And it's like, like, I just think it's like a really, really beautiful season arc for Sue that, you know, obviously, this isn't like, you know, changing anything within her character. As the series progresses, like she's back to basics by the next episode by the next season. But I just really like it. It's good. Yeah.

[45:51] Aman: Yeah. Yeah. I mean, look, any anger, upsetness I have towards it is only because of I guess it's last round matchup that I did forget about until Andrew reminded me, but I reminded but the emotions are just so high. And so justifiably. So I mean, what gets me in a lot of aspects of glee, but definitely here is when it cuts to Santana and she's crying. And this is before Britannia. But she's looking over at Brittany and she's bawling. And then the Santana part of this song that kicks it into like that. It's a little good. You're a friend who taught me right from wrong. It's like, because we're also like, in season one, we know the deal with how we're kind of discovering that they should use Naya much more than they probably originally planned to.

And by the end of the season, it's like, yeah, no, she needs to be in these group numbers featured as much as you possibly can, because you're wasting talent otherwise. So she really takes it up that next notch here and many times.

[46:51] Matt: No, like, that was literally like one of my notes that like Santana has like very good real estate within this song. Yes. That it's like, whereas like, it would make much more sense or like immediately you would think that like this, like that part of the song or like any like, featured soloists would be like Puck or Quinn or you know, I guess Puck or Quinn and that's like kind of like end of list because all the other characters kind of sang. Was there anybody else?

[47:19] Aman: Yeah, Tina's in here.

[47:20] Matt: Tina, Ari, Mercedes, Finn. Yeah.

[47:23] Aman: Mike Chang doesn't really sing.

[47:25] Matt: Yeah, that's standard.

[47:27] Aman: Yeah. But like the fact that Santana was here was like, it's a it's a big deal. You know?

[47:33] Matt: Yeah, she's kind of like, it's like the Sue thing. It's sort of like a parallel with the two of them because like, she's so her and Brittany and you know, well Quinn to a lesser extent because Sue's already done tossed her out. But like, at this point, I feel like it really is like, oh, okay, so the evil girl is in on this too. Like, we're all we're all in this together now. Like we're all on the same page now. And I really feel like her coming in at the point that you said, like it just really brings the message home emotionally, like what this song is supposed to mean to the characters and to the audience.

[48:08] Aman: Yeah, like Sue walking in the auditorium and seeing Santana crying, like those are those three are still her girls at the end of the day, like they're still the Cheerios. I'm saying bags is crying. And she sees like how emotional that they are over this whole ordeal. And yeah, you can tell that it impacts her on top of the whole club that she's got, you know, deep down some, some not harsh feelings towards. Kurt also, you know, pretty good, pretty good Chris Colfer vocals mixed in here.

[48:38] Matt: Would you say this is Heather Morris's best vocal?

[48:43] Aman: Yeah, I mean, I gotta go with a no on that one. I don't I don't I'm looking at the wiki. I don't see any Heather highlights Heather Morris didn't actually go into the studio until season two, episode two. I will say though, jokes aside, I never realized until this viewing that Heather Morris is like really crying. I obviously a lot of them are crying. But like there was like a kind of like blink and you'll miss it like shot of Heather that I'm like, Oh, she's really crying.

[49:10] Matt: She's really good.

[49:12] Aman: She's really good at crying.

[49:14] Matt: Wait, so on the topic of crying. So first of all, shout out to the Diana episode of Yeah, and that's what you really missed. So incredible to hear her talking about the show after all this time in such a long extended recorded format and not just like as a passing question in an interview, but she when she talked about her crying on set and how it was getting a little bit too realistic. That's so funny. Yeah, I was like, I can 100% see that day on set.

[49:45] Aman: Really? Because she was talking about like, um, when, like, you're having my baby, right? That scene? Yes, I think so. Right?

[49:53] Matt: Was like, yes, yes. Yeah, yeah. Oh, and she was just tapping in a little too much.

[49:59] Aman: The dress, like, I appreciate it. Yeah. But just tone back a little. Um, also, one of the notes that I wrote down with to start with love is that I was miss hearing this lyric for years. That at the very beginning, Rachel says, biting nails are done. Like she's like, those those days of biting nails are done. I always thought that she was saying buying nails, like purchasing.

[50:28] Matt: Telling tales and buying nails.

[50:30] Aman: That she was in. And I was like, Oh, for like, the longest time I was like, maybe this is like a very young thing to be doing. Like you're purchasing nails, but now you're grown up and you don't need to buy nails anymore. You could just.

[50:40] Matt: Yeah.

[50:40] Aman: Mom, can I get a bra and buy some nails?

[50:43] Matt: Right? Yeah, I want to buy some nails. Um, anyway, final thoughts on to start with love.

[50:51] Aman: Happy to get emo. Any time. Yeah, it's really beautiful. It's so beautiful to me. I want the best for her. But if it's mine.

[51:02] Matt: Oh, I feel like this can really go any kind of way. Great. It's not happening.

[51:07] Aman: So I'll say a hard competition.

[51:12] Matt: We'll be the judge of that.

[51:13] Aman: A rare little season six appearance.

[51:17] Matt: Oh, one is one for six jumped all. Yeah, yeah, yeah.

[51:22] Aman: Both both of these seasons need a little bit of support against the juggernauts of two and three.

[51:28] Matt: I'm actually really interested in seeing where this competition goes. I actually don't know if I know your opinion on this song. Here we go. You're gonna know what it is. Boom, boom, boom. You know what it is?

[51:38] Aman: Mustang Sally.

[51:42] Matt: I was gonna say is it Mustang Sally?

[51:43] Aman: It is Mustang Sally. Yeah.

[51:44] Matt: Okay. Interesting.

[51:47] Aman: Mustang Sally. Who want to start?

[51:50] Matt: I have a question. Mm hmm. So remember back to the first time we ever see Britney Quinn Santana perform together? Yeah.

[52:02] Aman: And we're all aware by now that those background vocals were not Britney and Santana. As Quinn is singing, I say a little prayer.

[52:11] Matt: Questions going? Yeah.

[52:13] Aman: These are not them either.

[52:14] Matt: No. It's being overlooked. And you're right.

[52:17] Aman: This is not Britney Quinn or Santana. This who is it? I don't know. But it's not any of them at all.

[52:25] Matt: It's the same beautiful gospel choir that did I say a little prayer.

[52:29] Aman: Yeah, I think so.

[52:31] Matt: Um, what do we think? I I just don't care. I just don't care.

[52:39] Aman: I like I kind of feel the same way. I think she's so good. We are we saying she what what pronouns are we attaching to Mustang Sally? Obviously, it's Sally.

[52:49] Matt: I mean, she is probably very male song though. Yeah, he's like, whatever to me wasn't this this this person they were on the voice, right? Or something?

[53:02] Aman: Yeah, yeah, Noah Guthrie was on America's Got Talent.

[53:05] Matt: That's so funny. You say that? Because my other comment here was going to be this feels like a performance on the voice.

[53:13] Aman: Yeah, it really does. Where, of course, Diana Agron, Heather Morris, and I are a bear. Yes, would come back and assist.

[53:19] Matt: Yeah, yeah. Um, I even like the slow nature of the song. I'm waiting for you know, CeeLo Green to hit his button and turn. Well, is it because like all the people are like in the audience, and they're like, Oh, wow. They're like, kind of like giving kind of like the voice kind of reaction. He's gonna hit the button. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Like, oh, okay. I like what I'm hearing. I choose you. Yeah. Yeah. Um, I just, I mean, I think part of it is also to do with like season six, like, well, you know, I'm a I'm a big fan of Glee. And I will, you know, I understand I can still understand the flaws that season six has. And I do think that like, the stakes of everything in the beginning of season six don't really land.

Like we know the Glee Club is going to get back together again. We know that Sue's going to give some pushback. We know that we know what's going to happen. And so I feel like when we're like, we're not really giving a lot of time to really invest in these new characters, to the point where it's like, I don't really care about this Glee Club. I just care about like what Kurt and Rachel and Blaine and Sam and Mercedes all you are going to do. That's what I'm that's what I care about. And like this one little audition from this guy that like they postured to be this most incredible singer, they have him singing through the vents. They're looking all over the school for him the entire episode. Also culminate in this performance.

[54:42] Aman: And I'm like, yeah, he sounds good, but I don't care.

[54:46] Matt: Come on, not to do this to you.

[54:49] Aman: I'm starting to understand what people say about your opinions on The Glackett. With that in mind, I was like, oh, wow, that is an opinion.

[55:00] Matt: Because Homecoming as an episode, I really like. I feel like it's maybe like top 20 episodes for me. I think it's really good.

[55:06] Aman: I do too. Look, look, I love season six. I do. And also, like, I understand where it falls short. And I think that the new Gleek club members is definitely one of those things.

[55:15] Matt: I mean, it's hard to fit, you know, anything of substance. You cannot look at me in my face and say that the season four new cast is more interesting than the season six. You can't say that to me.

[55:31] Aman: I think they are.

[55:32] Matt: Season six doesn't have Jacob Artist.

[55:34] Aman: Okay, we're not talking about Abs.

[55:37] Matt: I'm not talking about Abs either. I think Roderick is whatever to me.

[55:39] Aman: The twins were kind of interesting because we hadn't really seen that kind of relationship on the show. So like, if anything, that kind of felt the most glee to me. The fact that they were like weird incest twins that like have like attachment issues like that. I thought there was a lot.

[55:53] Matt: There's a difference between attachment issues and incest who mentioned incest for the first time. I think in their debut episode, I think Kitty calls them incest twins.

[56:12] Aman: I know, but that's a big accusation.

[56:14] Matt: It is a really strong accusation. But that's what I'm saying is that I felt like that was the most glee, that was the most glee relationship out of them all. All the other characters are like, whatever to me.

[56:25] Aman: I'm kind of, I was immediately over the postmodern gay with Spencer.

[56:29] Matt: Yeah, that's fine. But like, you know, so like, I don't know. Postmodern gay obviously gets warranted shit. However, I think interesting strategy at a character that they're like, the thought was there that it was like, oh, we're going to present a new type of gay guy on this gay show. A gay person that's not, like, the whole personality isn't about being subjected to.

[56:55] Aman: But I mean, I'll speak for myself. Like, I want to say like, who hasn't been there? You know, maybe at least for me, when I was at the beginning of my coming out process, it was a little bit of like, like, I'm sure I said to somebody, I'm gay, but that's not the only thing. Because you just, you know, that's just kind of part of what you want to push back on. You want, yeah, you want to like push it away a little bit. And you want to be like, yeah, I like guys, but I'm not like all those gays that are like, so gay.

[57:21] Matt: Like, it's just, it's unfortunately, your favorite character is what I'm hearing.

[57:27] Aman: I'm just I'm just saying it's like, not unrealistic of like, some people putting it myself.

[57:32] Matt: I do agree. Yes. But also, we haven't even like talked about Jane. Jane, I think is like an inherently interesting character.

[57:40] Aman: Of course. Yeah, she was she was cool. I mean, single handedly beats all of the season four, you know, newbies, maybe besides Kitty.

[57:48] Matt: But even Kitty comes out so strongly, like, scary and Republican.

[57:53] Aman: Yeah. You know, I mean, look, as far as Mustang Sally is concerned, I think that she sounds great. You know, I think that like, I, but it's not it's nothing that's super memorable.

[58:09] Matt: And even even if I'm trying to not, you know, view it through the lens of like a season sixness, where like, you know, because a lot of those songs kind of like fall out of the general consciousness of Glee. As someone who has actively watched season six, probably more so than most people.

[58:30] Aman: It's also I mean, we're so I think I think I'm noticing live what I hear on the podcast of like, we make these round three songs sound like they're utter garbage. I'm not saying it's not garbage. I'm hearing it in real time now.

[58:44] Matt: No, I understand. I understand. Your voice is terrible. I don't know if you get told this enough.

[58:50] Aman: I just so I mean, look, we're comparing it against the other song that just came up. And so, you know, Aman's kind of making his decision clear at this point so far. But it's just that, like, you know, am I am I correct in that you're like, in comparison, this gives me nothing. But like, in general, if this just came up, we'd be like, oh, he sounds great. This is fun. The three of them in the background. They're having fun. That's it.

[59:14] Matt: Yeah. Wait. Also, it's both. Wait before you answer. If you do have a response. I feel as though if we had a swap, if we had Mustang Sally first, we wouldn't be shitting on it as much. We would be like, oh, this is cute. Or actually, no. Aman might have still said this fucking sucks.

[59:31] Aman: First of all, I never said it sucked. I never said it sucked. Play it back. I said I just don't really care for it. I just don't care. I'm not I'm not invested in it. He sounds good. The guy can sing. That's not my issue with the song. It's just everything that goes into it. Because the Glee songs, it's more than just like the sonic-ness of it all. It's about like all that goes into it. And this, it just doesn't have enough juice for me. I'm sorry.

[1:00:01] Matt: And I kind of agree, even sonically, it doesn't really go anywhere. It kind of keeps the same level of like his timbre doesn't change much. The dynamics don't really change much. It doesn't really tell a story. I don't really understand him as a character, even with the song. All I get from him is God with a soulful voice.

[1:00:23] Aman: He needs those headphones.

[1:00:25] Matt: Yeah. The problem is that we're trying to find the best song on Glee. And also, I go ahead.

[1:00:33] Aman: Yeah, that's the statement. And I think that we're not even we haven't even mentioned Father Figure outsold. Of course, Father Figure, Take Me to Church. Like, that's where we're going for this character to go through. And that's why I say I love season six. I do because there's a lot of look, I still I am still the number one champion. For vocal adrenaline, he's in six is the best vocal adrenaline.

[1:00:59] Matt: OK, so, whoa, I really understand the Amon haters now. They I don't give a damn. They ate season six. What song was it that he told me? And so any of them eventually sold me on this song. And you might remember it quicker than I will.

[1:01:16] Aman: They made darling.

[1:01:18] Matt: That's the one right for me. Yeah. And so it's like when we got to that the first time, it was like he's just discovered the best song on Glee. And there wasn't a more clear answer. And I eventually like listen to it more. And I was like, OK, I can have fun with this. Like he's having fun, but maybe not like he's having like among the like hundreds of Clint solos from season six. I will say that the Far From Over is number one.

[1:01:44] Aman: Yeah, I really like it.

[1:01:46] Matt: Yeah, good taste. OK. Um, do we want to vote on this competition between To Sir With Love and Mustang Sally?

[1:01:56] Aman: Also, I hear you on the pronoun situation because the song is literally named Sally.

[1:02:01] Matt: Yes. But it's so male.

[1:02:05] Aman: Who is Sally? Sally Ride.

[1:02:09] Matt: What is it?

[1:02:11] Aman: The astronaut.

[1:02:13] Matt: Excuse me. Oh, I have no idea. Am I not? Am I making this up?

[1:02:18] Aman: It's an astronaut, right?

[1:02:20] Matt: Yeah. Wait, Sally Ride is.

[1:02:25] Aman: Yeah. Yes.

[1:02:26] Matt: She's an American astronaut and physicist.

[1:02:30] Aman: She died in 2012.

[1:02:32] Matt: I just thought it was a horse.

[1:02:36] Aman: Well, she died in 2012 and in 2025 because I'm not voting for her.

[1:02:42] Matt: Damn. Oh, my God. You're really committing to the bit of like, these are actual people.

[1:02:48] Aman: Yeah, I apologize. What do you think?

[1:02:53] Matt: Oh, you had more to say. What do you want to say?

[1:02:54] Aman: No, no, no. I just to start with, love is the clear winner here. And now I'm participating in the being too harsh on a song because this is lovely vocals from Roderick. It is so fun, even if they're not the one singing in the background to have the unholy trinity here alongside him. And they're having fun. But in the efforts to find the best song on Glee to serve with love will stand a much better chance and is much more deserving.

[1:03:22] Matt: Yeah. I mean, look, you know, again, I don't want anybody to get the impression that I'm saying that he sounds horrible. He doesn't. The song is fine. I just think holistically, you know, to serve with love is definitely the better choice here. I just think that Mustang Sally, it has all of the the it has all of like the fixings of like what a what a nice, a cool Glee debut song should have. It just misses the soul of it, which is ironic when you're talking about someone who has such a soulful voice. But like, you know, I think it just goes back to some of the things I said before about some of the choices they made with letting us hear him sing three or four times before we actually hear him sing.

So it's like there's no question as to whether or not this person can sing. There's no aha moment of like, oh, my God. Like, what's he going to sound like? Bitch, you heard him through the vent like three times today. Right. It's like, you know, there's like the element of surprise isn't there. It's just it's a cool song, but there's no juice. And we're not even talking about the logic behind that that that situation. What what what was that? What were they trying to sell us on? That makes no sense.

[1:04:35] Aman: Um, I will also be voting for To Sir With Love. Also, I know that people are like probably like screaming right now that we didn't even acknowledge like the the unholy trinity blooper of it all, where they like turn around at one point instead. And then like a Quinn Diana turns around early and then Naya laughs. And it's very cute.

[1:05:00] Matt: So anyway, that's the reference that you all wanted.

[1:05:04] Aman: Yeah. OK, so one more competition. How do we feel?

[1:05:06] Matt: That would be really, really fun. To do one more competition.

[1:05:10] Aman: Oh, OK. So I have a season four. Interesting.

[1:05:15] Matt: I promise to be completely positive about anything that comes out of that cup.

[1:05:19] Aman: I will say that I forgot that this was in the cup. So do with that what you will.

[1:05:25] Matt: My cup saying I was right. So my cup to my cup.

[1:05:29] Aman: Oh, will you get this one?

[1:05:34] Matt: OK. Oh, yes. What is it?

[1:05:39] Aman: I'm not going to get it before I do. Born to Hand Jive.

[1:05:41] Matt: Oh, don't just make those hand motions without saying.

[1:05:45] Aman: OK, I don't think that our theory of like the song being second means that we need to be mean to it. Hold on. I guess like I immediately I feel like such a bitch tonight for some reason, because immediately I'm like, no, this is an inherently great song. But like, why do I feel like such an asshole? Like I'm like ready to kill it. You know what I mean?

[1:06:05] Matt: Well, because like you said, you're like, I forgot that this was here. You're like, what are you still doing, thinking you have a place in the top 100 Glee songs?

[1:06:16] Aman: I think it's I think it is great. Like you can't like say like it's it's Amber Riley's first vocal appearance in season four, and she sounds great. I just think it's like the Disney Channel element, like Disney Channel negatively, like it just like it doesn't it feels bad.

[1:06:33] Matt: Disney downside, Disney downside. Yeah.

[1:06:38] Aman: Yeah. But the Disney upside is that Mercedes is back at season four. We think that we are, you know, just completely transitioning to this new crop of kids that, as we just talked about, are not as compelling as overall as a group that we're going to get later on down the line. We don't hate them all, but some of them.

[1:07:00] Matt: And so, you know, we're what, five episodes in? And Mercedes is just back already. And of course, we're going to utilize her talents vocally and in the plot. And Mike is here and we're dancing and we're hand jiving and we're having fun. I mean, this is not the worst song that is still in contention.

[1:07:21] Aman: So no, I agree. I will say that like every time it comes up on shuffle, I will like hear it through and I will have a great time listening.

[1:07:31] Matt: Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, I am. I had a journey with this one because I kind of I think I felt a lot like how you felt, Andrew. I just felt like this was just sort of like it's too like it's just too much. It's too much going on.

[1:07:47] Aman: Yeah.

[1:07:49] Matt: But as time has gone on, I really enjoy this. I don't know. Maybe it's just like Amber Riley really colors the song in a very, very fun way. Like every time she like Amber Riley's vocal is just always so bright. She just has such a bright lyric voice and it just really can just improve anything, I think. And so I just think I just have a lot of fun listening to her. But I also just have a lot of fun watching the scene. It's very musical theater. It's very camp. It's very this is such a upbeat song, but there's.

[1:08:23] Aman: Clearly a lot of tension going on underneath all of it, and I just really appreciate what Becca Tobin does in this scene. I especially love the closing shot of this scene where they're all having a good time, and she just stayed in there with her hands on her hips like, "Bitch, y'all got me effed up. Like, I'm pissed right now." I just really enjoyed the scene. I think it's just a lot of fun. There's a lot to feast on, as I notice something new every time I watch it. So yeah, this song has really, really grown on me because now I just associate it with this scene and I associate it with Amber Riley. And yeah, I mean, what top 100 songs? A little surprising, but I guess we'll see if it gets there.

You know, a little surprising, but at the same time, you need songs like these that sort of like you don't really think about that persist because I feel like it really glues a lot of like what we consider to be the best and also what we consider to be like subpar. Like "More Than Words" is considered in the top 100 now. Oh, I love that, and it's good. I agree, but it's like, yes, hold on, "More Than Words." I just feel like this song is a pretty good example of like a song that's so necessary in the episode that it's in. I mean, obviously there's a theme of this episode, but just like, even if this is not going to win the Glackett and become the best song on Glee, it's still, I feel like, has a very fun moment in what is a decent episode.

I can't remember. Okay, I feel about the—I'm glad that you brought this up—season 4, "The Role You Were Born to Play." It's been a minute since I watched it. I feel like such—and people are gonna listen to this episode and be like, "What is this issue?" I feel like such an asshole because like "The Role You Were Born to Play" may be in contention for worst episode of the series.

[1:10:24] Matt: No, well, I mean, you're coming right off of the breakup, and then we're just kind of like snapping back to normal. Snapping back to normal, the first—also legal note—first episode, Leah and I believe Chris Colfer not in this.

[1:10:37] Aman: Yes, so I do remember feeling annoyed. I do remember during season 4 there was this thought of like, "I just want to go back to New York. I don't give a shit about these new kids." But like the more and more that you watch it, they do grow on you. And like I said, I'm always gonna be a Marley hater. I think it's kind of just like part of my personality at this point. But I really enjoy the dynamic between Ryder and Jake and Kitty. I just thought those three in particular were just fun. They were fun to me. So, I don't know. I don't think that this is like the worst episode of the series, and I would not go that far.

[1:11:19] Matt: Does it kind of like snap you back to reality? A little bit jarring for sure.

[1:11:24] Aman: Yeah, I think that like "The Role You're Born to Play" is like kind of the heavy lifting of just like kind of just like getting everything in order for a great next episode. Glee, it's like "Top That" is one of the best.

[1:11:39] Matt: Yeah, but like this episode just kind of like serves as like, "Okay, let's get everything in place so we can have a really great next week." I don't know. It's also a big Finn episode too, though.

[1:11:50] Aman: It's like really, yeah, in getting to step into his own, and we get to see how he actually handles himself without Mr. Schue being there. And you know, I wasn't as invested in Finn's storyline in season four, but you know, it was at least something that tethers us to what we already know, what we're familiar with, I suppose.

[1:12:07] Matt: It is being all loosey-goosey in the feels with these—looking back on our stats chart, which I haven't looked at this in a minute from The Choir Room podcast, and both of us had this as our favorite song of the episode. And we used to do the episodes rating on a scale—remember how many slushies we would throw at it?

[1:12:27] Aman: Yeah, yeah. I put—I threw two slushies out of five on this episode, and you only threw one and a half. So I don't know, either of us felt the way that Andrew is currently feeling. It's not even close to being the worst of the season for me. I have better ratings—or sorry, worst ratings on this season for "Makeover," for "Swan Song," for "Sadie Hawkins," for "Shooting Star," obviously, and that's it.

[1:12:50] Matt: "Magoo Makeovers" is really, really bad. I agree. Yeah.

[1:12:58] Aman: But I think that where this rage is kind of like stemming from for me is that my favorite episode of the series—no one surprised—"Asian F," where it like, this—okay, so if you were to compare these two episodes, which are like getting everything ready for the school musical, the song that like serves this purpose in "Asian F" is "Out Here on My Own," which is obviously a much more like dramatic look at a callback audition, whereas this is like played for fun. And they kind of like, they clump all of these auditions into one, the Sandy and Danny auditions against each other, and I'm like that—for me personally, I'm going the drama. I want the drama. I want "Out Here on My Own."

[1:13:47] Matt: I get it. I get it.

[1:13:53] Aman: Yeah, again, I think this is just fun within the episode, but it is going to probably need another really great—it's, yeah.

[1:14:04] Matt: Pardon the pun.

[1:14:11] Aman: I'm just on everything. I'm joy about that episode, and I'm like that should be—I can—that should be up there for like best. Probably also didn't make the list for Kevin and Jenna today.

[1:14:24] Matt: I did not know. Yeah.

[1:14:25] Aman: Last thing about "Born to Hand Jive" is of course that insane cartwheel that Blake Jenner and Becca Tobin do.

[1:14:31] Matt: Yeah, where Blake does the first cartwheel carrying Becca, and then Becca holds Blake. It's insane. Anyway, well, I think about how many takes it might have taken to do that.

[1:14:46] Aman: Oh, if it was even them. I feel like—

[1:14:51] Matt: Here we go, finally.

[1:14:54] Aman: Finally? Finally what?

[1:14:56] Matt: No, I'm just—never a good thing if Andrew's happy.

[1:15:00] Aman: No, I'm just like, it's like a really sad song too, which makes sense, you know, Day Emo Day 2025.

[1:15:07] Matt: Uh, where is she? And it's definitely—she, I'll say that—boom.

[1:15:16] Aman: Oh my god, what is it? What's it called? The beautiful sleep boy, yeah. Yeah, "Songbird."

[1:15:27] Matt: Okay, stunning girl.

[1:15:30] Aman: Emo.

[1:15:33] Matt: Definitely emo.

[1:15:35] Aman: Kind of hemo.

[1:15:44] Matt: All the others—emo, hemo, and homo. I think that there we have it.

[1:15:56] Aman: Who wants to start the discourse?

[1:15:59] Matt: Can I just, before we get too far away from it, talk about the last song?

[1:16:04] Aman: The journey to get to what? Wait, what do you mean?

[1:16:10] Matt: The "Born to Hand Jive"?

[1:16:10] Aman: Yeah, okay. Just I was looking at the history of how it got here. It beat "Yeah, Marie," and then it beat "Don't You Forget About Me." I was like, "Hmm, you know, we all had interesting things to say about it. I wonder how it got here." I'm not curious how "Songbird" got here because I know clear as day.

[1:16:25] Matt: Emo, emo, emo.

[1:16:29] Aman: I don't want to leave this one. I'm the one that doesn't come into the Fleetwood Mac episode really knowing much about what's going on. I will say that you mentioned Black history, and beyond the obvious like the emotionality behind this song, I doubly emotional because this is a song that was featured on the very first episode of Gleefully Podcast.

[1:16:55] Matt: And it beat—

[1:16:58] Aman: Why do I want to say? No, "Songbird" beat "Oh Man in the Mirror" in the first episode. And then also, interestingly enough, on the other side of the spectrum, "To Sir With Love" was from the last episode round one of the Glackett featured in the same episode. So anyway, I'm Andrew, quiz, quiz, quiz. What did "To Sir With Love" beat?

[1:17:21] Matt: Mm-hmm.

[1:17:21] Aman: I can tell you it was in the final episode round one of the Glackett with Kevin and Jenna as guests, and it was the final competition. And it was "To Sir With Love" that beat—

[1:17:31] Matt: "Gangnam Style"?

[1:17:35] Aman: No.

[1:17:37] Matt: Yes, it was. I'm just kidding.

[1:17:43] Aman: No.

[1:17:48] Matt: Oh my gosh, I feel like I'm like talking to these girls all the time. Like I'm like talking to their faces, Britannia, where I came in, Kevin and Jenna.

[1:17:58] Aman: But then you're like, "I'm always talking to my friends Kevin and Jenna." No.

[1:18:03] Matt: But you already—like these girls already know how I feel about them. Obsessed with them. Down just like, this storyline literally saved my life. It's so special to me, these two girls. The fact that it's just like, on top of like everything, talent and, you know, just like everything. And I'm like, they're funny and hot, and that meant so much to me as like a closeted gay boy that I'm like, "Oh, like what we were being told what like gay can look like" was like kind of one thing. And unfortunately, like Kurt kind of was representative of like a little bit of like a tired trope that I was seeing, whereas like Britannia was like—they were popular, they're funny, they're hot, they're talented, they're all—they're celebrated. I don't know. It's complicated, and I really, really like that.

[1:19:14] Aman: Yeah, they're women. How many of the stories that we were seeing of queer love on TV were just the queer men? So yeah.

[1:19:20] Matt: So yeah, yeah, you know, obviously this is the beginning of what one of Glee's most successful character arc stories between these two romances and everything that goes along with it, and it starts with just this beautiful, beautiful ballad that is just in so many of our hearts, you know, forever. Like for me, this one is only towards the bottom of my list of like "Santolo's" because I just did—I don't know the song as well, and it didn't end up on like my repeat playlist as the years went on like "Mine" or like some of the others. But I still hear this and get as emo as some of the other songs. It still means so much to their beginnings, and that's obviously incredibly important as you're gonna go seasons deep with them.

[1:20:04] Aman: Yeah, they're having this like this moment in private, of course, with Brad, who's just furniture kind of—I'm on. What are you thinking about "Songbird"?

[1:20:15] Matt: Yeah, um, I do think that sometimes we forget about it because I mean, it's the Fleetwood Mac episode, which I feel like as one of the tribute episodes, it—I don't know. I feel like something about the way they chose to some of the plot points in the Fleetwood Mac tribute don't really celebrate Fleetwood in the way that Glee has celebrated other artists. So I think that we kind of just lose that element of the episode.

[1:20:40] Aman: But this song in particular, I think—man, yeah, I think Naya just does something really, really special here. I mean, vocally it—like that part, like where she builds into the "I'm not sure what part of this song this would be," I guess it—and I wish you all the love in the world, I think. No, that's a beautiful part. I mean, the whole thing's beautiful, but like just singing that part, she does something really cool with her vibrato there. There is just packed with emotion, and the scene after this song—oh God, where they're at the lockers, and she's like—and well, first of all, Brittany, you're a little wild for asking her to not only come out but come out online on TV on your little webcam show for like weirdos to watch.

Like, what's wrong with you? Second of all, just what Naya does there where she's like, "You know, I'm really not that concerned about the fact that I love you and I have feelings for you. I'm just—I just don't know how I can't defend myself when people talk about me behind my back." And I was like, "Oh, I get that," because like you—it's just like it just—

[1:23:36] Aman: I did! It was so fun to see them interact again. They have such great chemistry.

[1:23:56] Matt: And the trivia questions were hilarious! It was a nice throwback to the show.

[1:24:16] Andrew: For sure! And speaking of throwbacks, I heard some of the cast members are doing Hallmark movies now.

[1:24:36] Aman: Yes! I think it’s a perfect fit for them. They have that charm that works well in those kinds of films.

[1:25:06] Matt: I agree! It’s great to see them branching out and exploring new opportunities.

[1:25:26] Andrew: And we also received a gloicemail this week! Let’s listen to that.

[1:25:46] Aman: I love the gloicemail segment! It’s always fun to hear from our listeners.

[1:26:06] Matt: Yes! Let’s see what they have to say.

[1:26:26] Andrew: Alright, here we go.

[1:26:46] Aman: That was a great message! Thanks for calling in!

[1:27:16] Matt: Yes, thank you! We appreciate all the support from our listeners.

[1:27:36] Andrew: Now, let’s get into the Glacket! We have some fantastic performances to discuss today.

[1:27:56] Aman: I’m excited! What songs are we looking at?

[1:28:26] Andrew: We have "Born to Hand Jive," "Mustang Sally," "Songbird," and "To Sir With Love."

[1:28:46] Matt: Such a great lineup! I can’t wait to see how they rank.

[1:29:16] Andrew: Let’s start with "Born to Hand Jive." What are your thoughts on that performance?

[1:29:36] Aman: It’s such a fun number! The energy is infectious.

[1:29:56] Matt: I love how they incorporated the choreography. It really brought the scene to life.

[1:30:16] Andrew: Agreed! It’s a classic Glee moment.

[1:30:36] Aman: And the costumes were on point too!

[1:30:56] Matt: Definitely! It really captured the spirit of the original.

[1:31:16] Andrew: Alright, moving on to "Mustang Sally." What do you think?

[1:31:36] Aman: This one has such a great vibe. It’s perfect for the characters involved.

[1:31:56] Matt: I love the way they performed it. It felt so genuine.

[1:32:26] Andrew: It really showcased their vocal talents.

[1:32:46] Aman: And the harmonies were fantastic!

[1:33:06] Matt: Absolutely! It’s one of those performances that sticks with you.

[1:33:26] Andrew: Now, let’s talk about "Songbird." This one is a tearjerker.

[1:33:46] Aman: Yes, it’s so emotional. The delivery was just perfect.

[1:34:06] Matt: It really hit home for a lot of fans.

[1:34:26] Andrew: And finally, "To Sir With Love." What a tribute!

[1:34:46] Aman: It’s such a beautiful way to honor a beloved character.

[1:35:06] Matt: I think it really encapsulates the heart of the show.

[1:35:26] Andrew: Alright, let’s get to ranking these performances!
