[0:00] Ian Allred: We've got a mission, to find the best song that's ever been on Glee.

[0:09] Ian Allred: There's no rhyme or reason to it, so don't get mad at me.

[0:18] Ian Allred: Glacket by Glacket, we'll rank everyone to see which song will move closer to spot number one.

[0:26] Ian Allred: Gleek of the Week, Gleek, Gleek, Gleek of the Week.

[0:32] Ian Allred: It's Gleek, Gleek of the Week.

[0:57] Ian Allred: Hi.

[0:58] Ian Allred: And me, hi.

[0:59] Ian Allred: Hi, how's everything?

[1:03] Ian Allred: Thrilling, incredible.

[1:05] Ian Allred: Honestly, what it's like to be a Gleek.

[1:07] Ian Allred: The Gleeboot is happening, question mark.

[1:10] Ian Allred: I am burned when it comes to reboots because the Buffy the Vampire Slayer one was cancelled.

[1:15] Ian Allred: So I am a little bit like, that can't happen to me twice in one year.

[1:19] Ian Allred: But cautiously, the Gleeboot is happening.

[1:23] Ian Allred: It's at least being spoken of.

[1:25] Ian Allred: And we are hot on the heels of the Clayne reunion.

[1:27] Ian Allred: So like, what a time to be alive.

[1:29] Ian Allred: I know, as of today's recording, the Clayne reunion, they're singing.

[1:33] Ian Allred: Which, Claudia responded to this story and was like, I turned on the audio to this story and was like, not expecting them to be...

[1:41] Ian Allred: It was like, they better not be singing Baby It's Cold Outside.

[1:45] Ian Allred: And sure enough, they were singing Baby It's Cold Outside in the month of October.

[1:49] Ian Allred: No, but, what is a, genuinely, what is a more iconic Clayne duet?

[1:55] Ian Allred: Sure, yes, yeah.

[1:57] Ian Allred: You want them singing fucking Candles up there?

[1:59] Ian Allred: They would've got booed off the stage.

[2:01] Ian Allred: Blow the candles out.

[2:03] Ian Allred: It's the summer, summer tonight.

[2:06] Ian Allred: I don't know the frickin' words.

[2:08] Ian Allred: I'm beginning to see the light.

[2:11] Ian Allred: I hate that number.

[2:13] Ian Allred: Okay, Nicole makes a good point in that American Boy is very good.

[2:17] Ian Allred: It's like, you have to consider the quality of the duet and also the iconography of the duet.

[2:24] Ian Allred: And Baby It's Cold Outside is the one-two punch.

[2:27] Ian Allred: It is a very good duet, a very strong duet.

[2:29] Ian Allred: And like, anyone who's seen it knows that American Boy fucking rules.

[2:35] Ian Allred: Gotta get you into my life, fucking rules.

[2:38] Ian Allred: Unfortunately, most people had signed off by that point.

[2:42] Ian Allred: So if they were to sing...

[2:44] Ian Allred: Yeah, if they were to sing together for the first time in ten years and they were doing American Boy, half the audience would be like, is this their first time singing this song?

[2:54] Ian Allred: It's so true.

[2:56] Ian Allred: Ari says that Baby It's Cold Outside is Clayne's drop.

[2:58] Ian Allred: You're correct.

[3:00] Ian Allred: Yeah, I dare them to do Animal.

[3:02] Ian Allred: Did Kurt sing at all?

[3:04] Ian Allred: Did he sing a lyric?

[3:06] Ian Allred: Yes, he did!

[3:08] Ian Allred: That was a Clayne duet.

[3:10] Ian Allred: When?

[3:12] Ian Allred: Remember, he's like...

[3:15] Ian Allred: No, Kurt's singing.

[3:17] Ian Allred: Kurt's like, when he's like...

[3:19] Ian Allred: Is the word I'm looking for, crumping?

[3:21] Ian Allred: You know what?

[3:23] Ian Allred: What does crumping mean?

[3:25] Ian Allred: Why is that the word that's coming to mind?

[3:27] Ian Allred: I don't know.

[3:29] Ian Allred: Do you think that Chris Colfer is kind of like, warming up his vocal cords?

[3:33] Ian Allred: I do.

[3:35] Ian Allred: I think so too.

[3:37] Ian Allred: I think Chris is coming back, which is really shocking to me because I was like, well one person I know won't be back as Chris Colfer.

[3:43] Ian Allred: And lo and behold, he has been whispering about it.

[3:47] Ian Allred: I kind of like what he's saying about it.

[3:49] Ian Allred: I like the pull quote that he said that he was like, the Gleeks would come to my house with pitchforks and jazz hands.

[3:55] Ian Allred: Yeah, and he ain't joking.

[3:57] Ian Allred: Yeah.

[3:59] Ian Allred: He understands that he needs to be part of it.

[4:01] Ian Allred: Yes.

[4:03] Ian Allred: Okay, general thoughts about the Gleeboot.

[4:07] Ian Allred: Do you have anything to say?

[4:09] Ian Allred: Yes, I do have things to say.

[4:11] Ian Allred: Unfortunately, your friend of a friend beat me to the punch last week.

[4:15] Ian Allred: I have been saying this since it was announced and then I was like, well, took the words right out of my damn mouth, which is that...

[4:21] Ian Allred: The fear, and I'm just gonna say it again because I also had the thought and I want credit, so sorry everyone.

[4:25] Ian Allred: The fear with reboots is, oh, but it's gonna... if it's not amazing, it will tarnish the legacy of the original.

[4:31] Ian Allred: Glee, as someone who adores Glee, Glee's legacy is already tarnished.

[4:39] Ian Allred: And in the public eye, the show's legacy is a joke.

[4:43] Ian Allred: So it's kind of... it is kind of a win-win scenario for me.

[4:47] Ian Allred: Either the Gleeboot is good and it's like, oh, how wonderful to have the show that I loved back and in such a pure and good iteration, or the Gleeboot is bad and it is now another crazy thing to talk about in the history of Glee.

[5:07] Ian Allred: The way you speak is talking about the insane things that happened on the show that you were like, now, why did that happen?

[5:11] Ian Allred: Right, exactly.

[5:13] Ian Allred: I think no matter what, there's no downside to this.

[5:17] Ian Allred: There's no downside.

[5:19] Ian Allred: Yeah.

[5:21] Ian Allred: Do you have a 10?

[5:23] Ian Allred: Do you have a 10 of people that...

[5:25] Ian Allred: Chris Colfer, apparently.

[5:27] Ian Allred: Yeah.

[5:29] Ian Allred: Well, Chris Colfer did say in the interview that he was not reached out to.

[5:33] Ian Allred: He was not one of the 10?

[5:35] Ian Allred: Who are the 10?

[5:37] Ian Allred: Who are the 10?

[5:39] Ian Allred: I think that he's lying.

[5:41] Ian Allred: I also think that Ryan was lying.

[5:43] Ian Allred: I think Ryan has reached out to some and he was just like, 10.

[5:47] Ian Allred: Elliot's correct.

[5:49] Ian Allred: 10?

[5:51] Ian Allred: 10?

[5:53] Ian Allred: Kendra Giardi is one of the 10.

[5:55] Ian Allred: What is that actor's name? I adore hers.

[5:57] Ian Allred: Jennifer Aspen, one of the 10.

[5:59] Ian Allred: Here's my 10.

[6:01] Ian Allred: Jennifer Aspen, one of the 10.

[6:03] Ian Allred: Stephen.

[6:05] Ian Allred: Stephen Tobolowsky, one of the 10.

[6:07] Ian Allred: The guy who played...

[6:09] Ian Allred: Howard Bamboo, I'm sorry.

[6:11] Ian Allred: King, I forgot your name, one of the 10.

[6:13] Ian Allred: Kent Avenito.

[6:15] Ian Allred: Kent Avenito, one of the 10.

[6:21] Ian Allred: Suzy Pepper.

[6:23] Ian Allred: Miss Grey's Anatomy, one of the 10.

[6:27] Ian Allred: Wait, can I add someone into your 10?

[6:29] Ian Allred: Who?

[6:31] Ian Allred: James Earl.

[6:33] Ian Allred: I was watching, did I text you about this?

[6:35] Ian Allred: I was watching Scream Queens Season 2 and I was like, James Earl is in this?

[6:39] Ian Allred: Is he going to be in the Glee Club?

[6:41] Ian Allred: I think...

[6:43] Ian Allred: I think that like, okay, what's coming to mind now is that I really like this story.

[6:47] Ian Allred: Tina Fey, she booked a child.

[6:55] Ian Allred: I forget what season or what episode it was, B.B. Wood.

[6:59] Ian Allred: B.B. Wood, she goes on...

[7:01] Ian Allred: I know literally exactly what you're talking about.

[7:03] Ian Allred: Tina Fey, Liz Lemon gets set up on a date.

[7:05] Ian Allred: Jack sets her up on a date and it's this huge asshole financial guy and his daughter is really, really cool and it's played by B.B. Wood.

[7:15] Ian Allred: And then Liz goes back and she's like, Jack, just like I thought, the guy you set me up with was a huge asshole, and Jack's like, yeah, but his daughter was really cool, right?

[7:23] Ian Allred: And Jack was actually 4D-chessing her and trying to get her to not give up on being a mother and B.B. Wood would make her want to have kids again.

[7:29] Ian Allred: I watched this episode recently.

[7:31] Ian Allred: So that's not actually what I...

[7:33] Ian Allred: Yes, that's...

[7:35] Ian Allred: That is what I was bringing up.

[7:37] Ian Allred: But that context, not absolutely necessary.

[7:41] Ian Allred: It's important for the point that I'm getting at.

[7:45] Ian Allred: Thank you so much, though.

[7:47] Ian Allred: She booked B.B., B.B. Wood, I believe that's her name.

[7:51] Ian Allred: And then also, she had no recollection of casting B.B. Wood for 30 Rock and then booked her again for Mean Girls.

[8:01] Ian Allred: Which I'm thinking, Ryan Murphy, do you think Ryan Murphy remembers James Earl?

[8:07] Ian Allred: He was like, you know who would be funny in Scream Queens?

[8:11] Ian Allred: Azimio Adams, get that guy in here, he's perfect for this show.

[8:15] Ian Allred: James Earl is like, hey, remember me from Glee?

[8:21] Ian Allred: And he's like, what? When? Where? What?

[8:25] Ian Allred: Wait, what is your favorite Azimio line?

[8:29] Ian Allred: The one that I think of all the time and it's largely because it reminds me of Lina is in Sue Sylvester Shuffle when they announce that they're going to be doing Thriller by Michael Jackson mashed up with Heads Will Roll by Yeah Yeah Yeah.

[8:43] Ian Allred: And Azimio goes, who's Yeah Yeah Yeah?

[8:47] Ian Allred: And he also says, sequin ball gowns.

[8:51] Ian Allred: Do you know?

[8:57] Ian Allred: And I think...

[8:59] Ian Allred: What's the one that he says? It doesn't make you something, it just makes you bisexual.

[9:03] Ian Allred: That's also a good one.

[9:05] Ian Allred: That's another good one.

[9:07] Ian Allred: But I think my favorite, this always stuck with me, this is not MP my problem, this is YP your problem.

[9:15] Ian Allred: I don't know why.

[9:17] Ian Allred: Do you remember that?

[9:19] Ian Allred: No!

[9:21] Ian Allred: He's like bullying someone.

[9:23] Ian Allred: I think he might be bullying Jacob Ben Israel or something.

[9:27] Ian Allred: MP my problem, YP your problem.

[9:31] Ian Allred: Someone remembers.

[9:33] Ian Allred: But Azimio, love you so much, problematic king.

[9:37] Ian Allred: If I were to give my honest 10, my honest 10 is Lea Michele.

[9:41] Ian Allred: I would testify under oath that she was asked.

[9:43] Ian Allred: Heather Morris, confirmed.

[9:45] Ian Allred: Those are the two that I'm like, I would literally go in front of a jury and testify that those two have been contacted.

[9:51] Ian Allred: I think probably Matthew Morrison.

[9:53] Ian Allred: I think Jane Lynch.

[9:55] Ian Allred: And then...

[9:57] Ian Allred: This is where it gets dicey.

[9:59] Ian Allred: I think Chris Colfer.

[10:01] Ian Allred: I think he's lying.

[10:03] Ian Allred: I think Darren Criss.

[10:05] Ian Allred: Ryan has worked with him again since.

[10:07] Ian Allred: I think there's going to be a weird one in there.

[10:09] Ian Allred: I think it's going to be like fucking Gwyneth.

[10:11] Ian Allred: He was like I was over at Brad's the other day and I mentioned it to Gwyneth.

[10:15] Ian Allred: That's a great Ryan impression.

[10:17] Ian Allred: Thank you.

[10:19] Ian Allred: I've been working on it.

[10:21] Ian Allred: And then there are people that I believe would come back, but I don't believe that Ryan's reaching out to them.

[10:27] Ian Allred: Much love, I love you Cord Overstreet.

[10:29] Ian Allred: I don't think that Ryan was like hey Cord, want to come back to do the Gleeboot?

[10:33] Ian Allred: I don't know.

[10:35] Ian Allred: I think that for some reason I'm thinking that Cord is one of them.

[10:41] Ian Allred: I just think that he has an affinity for Cord Overstreet.

[10:45] Ian Allred: They kept him around for so long, you know what I mean?

[10:49] Ian Allred: But I do think a large part of the reason that they kept Cord around for so long, and I love Cord and I love the character of Sam, I think a big part is because of the fin of it all.

[11:01] Ian Allred: Yeah, oh sure.

[11:03] Ian Allred: Yes.

[11:05] Ian Allred: He's kind of filling in.

[11:07] Ian Allred: We don't know what to do, so he's kind of filling in.

[11:11] Ian Allred: And then I feel like Kevin, maybe you have other information, but I feel like Kevin was talked to about it or at least mentioned.

[11:21] Ian Allred: And then my tenth, I think it's going to be another Gwyneth level.

[11:25] Ian Allred: It's like a random recurring guest star.

[11:27] Ian Allred: But if she's openly campaigning on her Instagram, I'm like she wasn't talked to about it.

[11:31] Ian Allred: She wants it bad because I would have said her otherwise.

[11:35] Ian Allred: But I don't know.

[11:41] Ian Allred: It's Jonathan Groff.

[11:43] Ian Allred: It's Jonathan Groff.

[11:45] Ian Allred: Ari in the chat is saying Jeff Goldblum.

[11:47] Ian Allred: I could see it.

[11:49] Ian Allred: He's not coming back.

[11:51] Ian Allred: He didn't come back for season six, he's not coming back.

[11:53] Ian Allred: That's true.

[11:57] Ian Allred: Hello.

[11:59] Ian Allred: Any final Gleeboot thoughts?

[12:01] Ian Allred: My final Gleeboot thoughts are Glee to me works the best when it is about losers and when it is low stakes.

[12:11] Ian Allred: As high stakes.

[12:13] Ian Allred: So we cannot have our cake and eat it too.

[12:15] Ian Allred: If we want, and this is just my opinion, if we want the Gleeboot to really feel correct and like Glee, either the main cast return as main characters and we have to undo their happy endings.

[12:27] Ian Allred: We cannot have a show where like Mercedes is a very successful recording artist and Rachel has a Tony award and like Clayne is in Congress.

[12:39] Ian Allred: Like that's just a different show.

[12:41] Ian Allred: Or, and this is what I prefer and what you have been preaching on this podcast and a lot of people have been saying, it's about new characters.

[12:49] Ian Allred: And the old characters, sure they can keep their happy endings, they make cameos every once in a while, but it is about new characters who are underdogs, who are losers.

[12:59] Ian Allred: I feel like Glee really had an identity crisis and lost kind of the DNA of what made it special when it got too big, real world dreams coming true.

[13:07] Ian Allred: I want a show about how life has some wins and a lot of losses and you can find joy in both.

[13:15] Ian Allred: And there is joy to be found in the losses, like that is what made the show special to me.

[13:21] Ian Allred: Yeah, no I need that really, really bad.

[13:25] Ian Allred: Those are my Gleeboot thoughts.

[13:27] Ian Allred: Yeah, I've said it before, I'll say it again that I really just want to, not in a creepy way, don't make me out to be creepy anybody, but I just really want to hyper fixate on someone that is kind of Rachel Zegler kind of age.

[13:43] Ian Allred: Oh I know, I know.

[13:45] Ian Allred: You know we need a new Lightning Strikes Cat twice.

[13:49] Ian Allred: Like oh my gosh where has this person been hiding?

[13:51] Ian Allred: I kind of want to be on the scene where it's like oh I know this is going to be next it girl and I was there when...

[13:59] Ian Allred: I agree, I agree.

[14:01] Ian Allred: Also, one, someone was bringing this up a few weeks ago, I don't know why everyone thinks that Puck needs to be acknowledged at all.

[14:09] Ian Allred: I'm like just don't mention him.

[14:11] Ian Allred: Do you know how frequent it is to like lose touch with people you went to high school with?

[14:13] Ian Allred: Yeah.

[14:15] Ian Allred: But beyond that, I feel like I'm taking crazy pills hearing people week after week be like, well canonically Quinn is with Puck.

[14:22] Ian Allred: So they have to explain that they broke up.

[14:24] Ally: No, the fuck they don't.

[14:25] Ian Allred: They went on one date.

[14:26] Ally: That's all that's canon.

[14:28] Ian Allred: In New Directions, they sing a love duet and are like, let's go on a date for the first time ever.

[14:34] Ally: We've never been on a date.

[14:35] Ian Allred: Then in season six, not a single word is ever spoken about them being together, and they never make any romantic interaction with each other.

[14:44] Ally: I'm not campaigning for quick. I'm not. I just want to acknowledge that. Not campaigning for a Quinn and Puck relationship.

[14:50] Ian Allred: However, the only reference of Quinn and Puck together in season six is during "Hand in My Pocket," where Puck is like holding Quinn's hands.

[15:01] Ally: That like so is that is that something to you?

[15:06] Ian Allred: They had a kid. I'm not going to deny that. Like, I think the writers meant it that way.

[15:12] Ally: But in my mind, they went through a very high stakes, stressful experience together as teenagers. They will always have a deep bond because of that. And they're just friends at that point.

[15:28] Ian Allred: I'm just like, you know, the show ended with like Santana and Brittany married, Clayne married, Rachel and Jesse married like those are relationships that we will have to establish.

[15:41] Ally: Is this still a thing?

[15:42] Ian Allred: Yeah. Puck and Quinn were dating 11 years ago.

[15:49] Ally: We simply don't even need to mention it.

[15:52] Ian Allred: She wasn't even a lead character at that point.

[15:55] Ally: Puck at all in the Gleeboot. I mean, like we can, but I don't think we need to if we don't want to.

[16:02] Ian Allred: Um, I don't know. I don't think we need to reference him.

[16:07] Ally: But we could just like say his name at some point.

[16:10] Ian Allred: I feel complicated feelings about Puck because I think Mark Salling is disgusting. But I do have like special feelings for moments of that pretend character.

[16:20] Ally: So I'm kind of like, just don't touch it at all. Just don't touch it for 10 feet with a 10 feet pole.

[16:24] Ian Allred: And I also feel complicated because I'm like, Mark Salling was like disgusting, was fully a pedophile, all of this stuff. Also, all of these actors, all of their memories of this very influential part of their lives involve that guy.

[16:43] Ally: He was there. And I feel like if I was them, I would just feel so weird about the whole thing that I'd be like, I just kind of don't want to touch it.

[16:52] Ian Allred: Yeah, like I don't want to. I don't want to like joke about his character to be like, fuck that guy. I also don't want to honor his character.

[17:00] Ally: Like, I just feel that was a person who was like a family member to me. And then I learned something very dark and evil about him. I would just rather not deal with it at all in front of the world.

[17:11] Ian Allred: Yeah. So I'm kind of pro, like.

[17:14] Ally: Why does he need to be brought up?

[17:16] Ian Allred: So true. And then on the flip side, I mean, I'm asking you right now. Gun to your head. Solve Santana in the Gleeboot.

[17:24] Ally: Um, I like what you said. I feel it's hard and it's tough. And obviously with Finn, it was like the show was actually going on and he was actively still a lead character.

[17:34] Ian Allred: And it was like, what do we do here?

[17:36] Ally: And I like what you said, that it's like she just simply is like successful off screen.

[17:43] Ian Allred: And I'm pro. Brittany is not a lead character. And this is no shade to Brittany. And this is no shade to Heather Morris. I'm just pro that like none of them are lead characters.

[17:50] Ally: Maybe one is a lead character and everyone else is just cameos.

[17:53] Ian Allred: So I'm very much like exactly like you were saying. Brittany makes a cameo here and there.

[17:59] Ally: And it is understood that she and Santana are married.

[18:03] Ian Allred: And there you go. And there we go.

[18:06] Ally: Um, any final, final thoughts on Gleeboot before we get into Black O'Grievances?

[18:13] Ian Allred: I was taking notes.

[18:16] Ally: Uh, no, that's my main stuff. I have like my own little headcanons about.

[18:21] Ian Allred: You and I have talked about this, about like where we think all the characters should be now, but I actually don't want those things to happen in the Gleeboot.

[18:28] Ally: Oh, well, I think that like I almost brought it up in a previous episode and I texted you about it. But like Blaine being like, um, go, not go, go, boy, but like kind of just like really into.

[18:40] Ian Allred: I had said you and I have been having a conversation pre-Gleeboot. This was months ago where we were like doing a hypothetical like Glee movie or miniseries.

[18:53] Ally: And it was like, really, it was really iconic. I'll say it. I do think we how we were cooking. I was reading it today and I was like, we should send this to R.I.B. They should be taking notes.

[19:04] Ian Allred: Yeah.

[19:04] Ally: Um, but the big theme of the miniseries was it focuses on the main cast and all of their lives have fallen apart except for one.

[19:14] Ian Allred: And they kind of are like finding themselves again in reuniting.

[19:19] Ally: And what I had pitched was that Klain got a divorce and Kurt is like being upstanding gay citizen Pete Buttigieg.

[19:28] Ian Allred: Yes.

[19:28] Ally: We're like, yes, his heart like is in it kind of. But he also is just like really cares about being like, I'm a good person.

[19:34] Ian Allred: And please accept me.

[19:35] Ally: And I think I'm a good person. And Blaine, meanwhile, was having midlife crisis, was being a circuit gay and working as a circuit gay like.

[19:42] Ian Allred: And they thank you. Thank you. Thank you.

[19:43] Ally: Yeah. Yes. And they both kind of swung in opposite directions where Blaine went like full, I have to fill the void with like partying constantly.

[19:52] Ian Allred: And Kurt was like, I have to fill the void with getting outside validation that like I am a good person.

[19:57] Ally: Yeah. I just remember while we were talking about this, that you said at one point that Blaine runs into Spencer at one of the clubs that he's at.

[20:10] Ian Allred: And he's like, oh, we were we were both in the same play club.

[20:14] Ally: I just I need to reread what we came up with.

[20:17] Ian Allred: Because my favorite idea that we had pitched was that Tina, every like nearly everyone is kind of like unhappy in their life and in some way.

[20:29] Ally: But Tina Cohen Chang is actually like very fulfilled and happy and is working like runs like a small local boutique that is not like world renowned, is like well-respected in the community and like very cool.

[20:41] Ian Allred: And I don't really like it. OK.

[20:44] Ally: And she agrees to come back because like all of her high school friends are like, come and do this reunion with us.

[20:49] Ian Allred: And she's like, OK, fine, I will.

[20:51] Ally: Steps away. And then being in that environment makes her essentially like age regress and she becomes like nasty and bitter and mean again.

[20:59] Ian Allred: And like desperate for the spotlight.

[21:01] Ally: And it's like for everyone else coming back to Glee Club is healing. And for Tina, it's like this is actually cancerous for you.

[21:06] Ian Allred: And you are so happy you're outside of it.

[21:08] Ally: I know I literally am so obsessed with that girl so much.

[21:13] Ian Allred: Like she is the most fun character to like. I love Tina Cohen Chang.

[21:17] Ally: Just like think about to create storylines toward that. It's just like, oh, my God, there's so much there.

[21:23] Ian Allred: Yeah. OK, well, Gleckig Rubin says, I feel like you have things to say.

[21:29] Ally: Yeah, I do. OK, first, I won't hammer on it too hard. But Emily, I don't get it.

[21:35] Ian Allred: I love "Christmas Wrapping."

[21:37] Ally: Yeah, love favorite Christmas number on Glee. Love that song.

[21:41] Ian Allred: As I get older, the more that I'm like, maybe greatest Christmas song of all time.

[21:45] Ally: I totally get that. It's like, oh, well, I'm old and I'm busy, so I'm not going to celebrate this year.

[21:50] Ian Allred: And then something magical happens and you're like, you know what? Maybe I should make time. Right.

[21:54] Ally: Anyways, I would pick "Christmas Wrapping."

[21:56] Ian Allred: It's over "Summer Nights."

[21:58] Ally: Over "Summer Nights."

[21:59] Ian Allred: You know, sorry.

[22:00] Ally: Yeah, other one.

[22:01] Ian Allred: And someone brought this up in the chat to "To Serve with Love" versus "Maybe This Time" hard. Both of those numbers are.

[22:10] Ally: This is what Glee means to me at the same time.

[22:14] Ian Allred: OK, like "To Serve with Love" is we have lost everything.

[22:21] Ally: And yet, even though we have lost it, we are still better for the fact that we once had it.

[22:27] Ian Allred: And then "Maybe This Time" is.

[22:32] Ally: I have my life has gone to shambles, I have completely like thrown away every opportunity, every chance I had, and I am at rock bottom like I'm such a loser.

[22:44] Ian Allred: And is this the time that I'm going to, you know, finally make something of myself, finally find happiness, finally achieve what I set out to at the beginning?

[22:55] Ally: I just like this show is so special to me because it is a show about finding hope when you're a loser like April Rhodes.

[23:04] Ian Allred: Yeah.

[23:04] Ally: Or feeling gratitude and sadness like the Glee Club and "To Serve with Love."

[23:08] Ian Allred: And also Kristen Chenoweth sang and performed every other version of "Maybe This Time" under the table.

[23:18] Ally: That is the definitive version to me.

[23:21] Ian Allred: Oh my God.

[23:22] Ally: What are you saying?

[23:23] Ian Allred: It's like, what if there was a second place?

[23:26] Ally: What is the second place?

[23:27] Ian Allred: What do you mean after?

[23:29] Ally: Oh, the second place, "Maybe This Time."

[23:32] Ian Allred: I don't like fucking Liza Minnelli in the movie, I guess.

[23:35] Ally: Damn, Liza Minnelli, I guess.

[23:36] Ian Allred: I don't know.

[23:37] Ally: Aria is saying Liza Minnelli in the movie, like angry that I watched that movie and Kristen Chenoweth that performed her.

[23:44] Ian Allred: I hate to say it, but Liza Minnelli, she can have a second place.

[23:48] Ally: Yeah, I just like that number is so special.

[23:51] Ian Allred: I went back and forth a lot.

[23:56] Ally: I think I would have voted for "Maybe This Time."

[23:59] Ian Allred: Really?

[24:00] Ally: But I'm fully accepting of "To Serve with Love" because "Maybe This Time" I know.

[24:05] Ian Allred: What brings?

[24:05] Ally: Yeah, "Maybe This Time" just like an inch ahead.

[24:10] Ian Allred: I truly like that performance.

[24:14] Ally: They should be writing books about it.

[24:17] Ian Allred: She is and Lea Michele's also there and Lea Michele is doing a good job.

[24:23] Ally: She's doing a great job.

[24:25] Ian Allred: But.

[24:23] Ally: Kristen Chenoweth, the look she gives at the very beginning of that number and the look she gives at the very end of that number.

[24:34] Ian Allred: Yeah, the very beginning of that number, she has this look of like very tentative, kind of like casing the room, being like, am I really going to do this?

[24:44] Ally: Am I really going to put myself out there?

[24:46] Ian Allred: And then she reaches this state of euphoria in the last chorus and is so like her eyes are shining.

[24:53] Ally: She is at the pinnacle.

[24:55] Ian Allred: She's forgotten this thing that she loved about herself.

[24:57] Ally: She's forgotten what it feels like to really believe that you can achieve something.

[25:02] Ian Allred: And then she finishes the note and like slowly comes back to reality and is like, oh my God, like I'm still in this classroom in front of all these teenagers.

[25:08] Ally: I have a question for you, because I brought this up in conversation around "Maybe This Time." And I'm curious if you have a headcanon yourself.

[25:16] Ian Allred: That like, um, do you think?

[25:20] Ally: What like what do you think April's kind of relationship with singing is at the point that she sings "Maybe This Time"?

[25:27] Ian Allred: Do you think that she is?

[25:29] Ally: Because I think she's someone who she goes to karaoke like within that same episode.

[25:37] Ian Allred: So like, yeah, I do you think that she's like.

[25:42] Ally: Kind of doing the like, I don't know what you know what I'm saying?

[25:48] Ian Allred: Yes, I think she is someone. I think she's she has been deeply afraid to do it in a circumstance that, quote unquote, mattered, a circumstance where there were stakes because karaoke is so fun because everyone can sing.

[26:06] Ally: Everyone gets up. No one gets turned away. Karaoke is just like a fun time.

[26:09] Ian Allred: I think this is her first time singing in front of an audience as opposed to like fellow people doing karaoke and especially like her first time singing in a way that has to prove anything.

[26:22] Ally: Yeah. In like over a decade.

[26:25] Ian Allred: And I know so many people you go.

[26:27] Ally: Sorry. No, I just think that like also that kind of that environment means so much to her as well.

[26:35] Ian Allred: Like the history that she has in that room, that it's like, you know, she does need to prove something in here because it's like she is kind of epitome of like high school has been.

[26:47] Ally: Yeah. Right.

[26:48] Ian Allred: Like last time she was in this room, it was like, this girl has such a bright future right now. She's literally squatting in houses.

[26:56] Ally: Love squatting houses.

[26:58] Ian Allred: This is so fucking immature of me. And I think I have said this literally before, either on this podcast or my own podcast.

[27:05] Ally: But I saw a take on Glee Reddit where I was like, not to be elitist, but some of you don't get this show.

[27:12] Ian Allred: Where someone was like, I hated the character of April Rhodes. I wish Kristen Chenoweth had played April Rhodes as a Broadway star who was coming in to give the kids advice.

[27:22] Ally: And I'm like, the point of the show is that this woman is a flop. She is a drunk. She has lost everything.

[27:29] Ian Allred: And like this is her chance at redemption and any sort of happiness.

[27:34] Ally: Eduardo said first mistake is opening the Glee Reddit.

[27:37] Ian Allred: I would have to agree.

[27:38] Ally: True.

[27:39] Ian Allred: The worst thing that I've ever seen on the Glee Reddit, I've never shared, like, I don't think I've ever talked about this before.

[27:47] Ally: But I remember seeing one time a post where they said, did anyone notice that in when Blaine sings "Raise Your Glass" at regionals, he accidentally goes out first.

[28:00] Ian Allred: Girl.

[28:00] Ally: And goes, so raise your.

[28:03] Ian Allred: He accidentally does that.

[28:06] Ally: Did anyone notice that that they left in that goof?

[28:12] Ian Allred: Someone update IMDb.

[28:13] Ally: I got a goof for you.

[28:14] Ian Allred: I got a goof for you.

[28:14] Ally: Blaine accidentally like.

[28:19] Ian Allred: Jumped out, sang the lyric same quality as the rest of the song and then jumped back.

[28:25] Ally: How'd they miss that?

[28:26] Ian Allred: How'd they miss that?

[28:28] Ally: Brad Falchuk, where was your head at?

[28:31] Ian Allred: Who edited this? No one.

[28:33] Ally: Um, OK, what other grievances do you have things to say about?

[28:38] Ian Allred: Oh, wait, no air.

[28:41] Ally: Oh my God. Thank you for bringing.

[28:44] Ian Allred: Remind me what No Air was against.

[28:45] Ally: No Air was against Happy Days Are Here Again/Get Happy.

[28:48] Ian Allred: Oh, and here's why, because I don't give a shit. No Air. Sorry, everyone. No Air. Hello! I know that that is an unpopular take. I certainly like Happy Days Are Here Again, and that's one of my favorite episodes of the whole show. Duet's a top-to-bottom banger. But maybe I'm insane. But I feel like, and I'm not saying that No Air is an iconic number that people think of. But recently, I have seen a ton of stuff online about, like, Happy Days Are Here Again is, like, one of the iconic Glee numbers. And I had never, it has never been that to me. And maybe I'm missing something. It has simply never been that to me. I think, and I just, I'm just having a tea with it right now. The song, just generally. I think that, I forget who brought it up in a recent episode, but I was just like, oh yeah, I think it's overexposed right now.

[29:41] Ally: Yeah. And I'm a No Air defender because, for all the reasons you bring up, it's so fucking funny. Like them running into people in the hallways, and they're being a wind machine. There is an extra that walks between them.

[29:56] Ian Allred: Yes, it's funny as hell. I love, that is what I hope we get back to in the Glee booth. That's what I mean when I say small stakes is big stakes. Because I don't care about these, I mean, I think they're like fun, but like these big perfect production numbers, I love when it's like, these two kids think they're in a music video, and for everyone else, it is simply passing period. Like someone has got to get to social studies right now, and meantime, they are singing No Air. They are singing Fans Blasting. It's so funny.

[30:24] Ally: Yes. That's a really, really great way of putting it. They feel like they're in a music video.

[30:30] Ian Allred: Yeah. I just, I think that number's fun. I would have voted for it. Sorry, everyone.

[30:30] Ally: Sorry, everyone.

[30:36] Ian Allred: My last thing, my last thing to say, and then we can bring Gleeks, and I'm so sorry to fill the buzzer at the beginning of this episode. I've been, so many things have happened. I just want to say, did I just say that I would have voted for Maybe This Time? I did. I don't feel strongly about that, though. I'm very pro To Sir With Love. I'm very pro To Sir With Love continuing, and I'm okay with it winning that competition. I just want to say, suddenly, everyone loves To Sir With Love. Suddenly, we could end the podcast right now, and To Sir With Love might be the winner of the Glackett.

[31:12] Ally: Oh, yeah.

[31:13] Ian Allred: Suddenly, To Sir With Love is what Glee is about. Let's remember two years ago.

[31:18] Ally: Oh, in a live episode.

[31:18] Ian Allred: When I was on a live stream.

[31:19] Ally: Yes.

[31:20] Ian Allred: And I put through To Sir With Love over mine, and I did not hear the end of that for the rest of round two.

[31:26] Ally: That's true.

[31:27] Ian Allred: People were so angry, and what I said during that competition was, both of these songs are really, really incredible and encapsulate so many things about this show. Mine, however, encapsulates something about one relationship, which I love and is one of the most important parts of the show, but it encapsulates one relationship. To Sir With Love encapsulates every single relationship and storyline in the whole show, and that's why I'm picking it.

[31:52] Ally: Yeah.

[31:52] Ian Allred: And the Gleeks were mad.

[31:55] Ally: The Gleeks were mad. There were a few things that you did that round that people...

[31:59] Ian Allred: Round two, I pissed off everyone.

[32:01] Ally: Pissed off everyone.

[32:02] Ian Allred: That was same as if I were a boy over Love Story. Never heard the end of that either.

[32:07] Ally: Love Story. You're obsessed with calling it Love Story.

[32:10] Ian Allred: Love Song, pardon me. Okay, so as of recording right now, the polls for To Sir With Love versus Maybe This Time are happening, and I have been on my To Sir With Love high horse that I'm like, this could win it all. But Sir With Love only has 37% of the poll right now. And so I don't know if it really has... I don't know. Are people really liking it that much? I don't know.

[32:40] Ally: I love that girl. I love that girl, and I'm happy for her. I hold no vitriol in my heart for it taking out Maybe This Time because that was a hard pick.

[32:49] Ian Allred: Yeah. Any final things you want to say?

[32:53] Ally: I'm happy to be here. I'm excited to be back. And I am team Diana Agron's gonna be in the Glee Boat. Not as the main character, but she's coming back.

[33:01] Ian Allred: I think so, too. Why not?

[33:03] Ally: Yeah, why not?

[33:05] Ian Allred: Have I said otherwise? I forget what I say.

[33:07] Ally: No, you say the same thing that I think, which is, she was in the fucking Odyssey show. Like, why would she not?

[33:13] Ian Allred: Yeah, I think she'll... I think she... If she had that much of a grudge, she wouldn't have gone on set for 30 minutes.

[33:20] Ally: There's a growing theory that... I didn't watch this original show, but there's a growing theory that she's going to be in the Girls Reboot.

[33:27] Ian Allred: Okay.

[33:28] Ally: If she's showing up for the Girls Reboot, show up for the Glee Reboot. Come on.

[33:31] Ian Allred: Come on. Diana, Queen of Reboots, I've been saying this for years.

[33:38] Ian Allred: Okay. Are we ready to bring in our first Gleek this month?

[33:41] Ally: Hell yeah.

[33:42] Ian Allred: Allie?

[33:44] Allie: Hey.

[33:46] Ian Allred: Hi. Allie, so glad to have you.

[33:50] Ian Allred: Remind me, what was your competition the last time that you were here?

[33:55] Allie: Okay, it was round two, and it was actually a very spoken about competition. I was the uninvited Rio Hungry Like the Wolf mashup.

[34:04] Ian Allred: I do remember that.

[34:05] Allie: I remember where I was when I looked into that.

[34:08] Ian Allred: I was the solo uninvited vote.

[34:11] Allie: Girl, you're a hero. A round of applause. Someone who gets it.

[34:17] Ian Allred: Wait, Eduardo in the chat is saying iconic episode. Eduardo, I feel like you were also on that episode.

[34:23] Allie: I believe so, yes.

[34:24] Ian Allred: Yeah.

[34:28] Allie: Uninvited.

[34:29] Ian Allred: Yeah, I kind of fumbled the bag with that one.

[34:31] Allie: I miss her bad.

[34:34] Ian Allred: She could have been here.

[34:35] Allie: She could have been here, but she was uninvited.

[34:39] Ian Allred: Allie, what do you think about the Glackett? Do you have Glackett thoughts?

[34:42] Allie: I have some. I feel like this round, it is really getting to the nitty gritty. So competitions are hard. So there's not as many grievances I'm having because I can defend the other song. But I am going to say something absolutely wild and crazy that people are gonna be like, Whoa, I miss Jump. I have an emotional connection to Jump deeply. I don't know what it is about Jump that I love so much.

[35:05] Ian Allred: Lost to...

[35:09] Allie: Gloria.

[35:11] Ian Allred: Gloria.

[35:13] Allie: Is a banger. I get it. But I would have voted Jump because for some reason, there's nothing sad about it. But I will cry. It brings a tear to my eye.

[35:24] Ian Allred: It brings a tear to my eye.

[35:26] Allie: They're babies.

[35:27] Ian Allred: They're babies in that.

[35:28] Allie: Yeah.

[35:29] Ian Allred: And there's so much joy. I feel like the real joy of the beginning of Glee with Jump. It's like they're all still having a really good time. There's not the drama going on.

[35:42] Allie: So yeah. Jump, love, miss. They're just sitting on mattresses.

[35:46] Ian Allred: Yeah.

[35:48] Allie: I miss the only exception that I'm a big Rachel stan. But I like get it because it was pulled against Somewhere Only We Know, I believe.

[35:57] Ian Allred: Yes.

[35:57] Allie: Yeah, yeah. Understandable. I think Ian, you were in that episode.

[36:01] Ian Allred: I was gonna say, I was like, well, I'll give you this. I'll give you that one.

[36:04] Allie: Yeah.

[36:06] Ian Allred: And then I do agree with you about To Sir With Love, for sure. Like I would pick To Sir With Love. I don't think it could win it all. But I agree in that competition. I just, again, feel more Glee connection to To Sir With Love.

[36:23] Allie: Pulls on your heartstrings.

[36:25] Ian Allred: I don't agree with the No Air choice. I think I'm a Finchel stan too. So it's crazy.

[36:33] Allie: I think it, I'm sorry, my cat is.

[36:37] Ian Allred: I'm obsessed with these cats.

[36:39] Allie: I love the cat clock. I love the two cats framing you.

[36:43] Allie: There's three, but you just can't see the other one.

[36:45] Ian Allred: But.

[36:49] Allie: But I stream, they were saying they don't stream Happy Days.

[36:56] Ian Allred: I get Happy. I, I'm streaming. I know Rachel's part, front, back, side to side. I'm not listening to any other version. This is the only version. I don't care about any of the other versions. So.

[37:10] Ian Allred: Wait, do you, do you have anything against No Air? Or are you just, it's.

[37:13] Allie: It's fun, but I feel like there's better Finchel duets that have already like.

[37:17] Ian Allred: Sure.

[37:18] Allie: Gone. And I, I'm a big Pretending stan. That left very early on. And nobody.

[37:24] Ian Allred: Do you remember what Pretending lost to?

[37:27] Allie: Oh.

[37:27] Ian Allred: I don't.

[37:28] Allie: It was like round one.

[37:30] Ian Allred: No.

[37:31] Allie: I think it's Matt and Aman who outed that, right?

[37:33] Ian Allred: Yes, that was, um, Pretending was against, lost to Next to Me, I think.

[37:38] Allie: Why do I feel like.

[37:40] Ian Allred: Yeah.

[37:44] Allie: Pretending, Pretending I never got. I don't even think I could like.

[37:51] Ian Allred: What I can't even sing like a single lyric from Pretending.

[37:54] Allie: The kiss at the end, when I was younger, I was living for it. Cause I was so standing Finchel that I was like. The silence and the kiss. I was like.

[38:03] Ian Allred: Yeah.

[38:03] Allie: This is everything I wanted.

[38:06] Ian Allred: Right.

[38:08] Allie: So. That left early on, but I'm streaming Happy Days. Get Happy. I am so sad that that's left. I don't think it deserved to lose to No Air as fun as No Air is.

[38:18] Ian Allred: Yeah.

[38:19] Allie: But really. That's all. I'm feeling about my lack of grievances right now. I'm really excited to black it again. It's been a while.

[38:27] Ian Allred: So last time you had a contentious competition. Do you want another contentious competition or you want to be chill?

[38:35] Allie: I don't know. I feel like there's so many good songs still left that it's almost bound to be.

[38:40] Ian Allred: Yeah.

[38:40] Allie: A contentious competition, but there's still Ice Ice Baby.

[38:40] Ian Allred: So like.

[38:40] Allie: There's still Ice Ice Baby.

[38:46] Ian Allred: Not too much on her.

[38:48] Allie: Not too much on her. I do think she kind of loses to every song left, but I like that song.

[38:52] Ian Allred: That's losing my point. It's made it this far, but I don't see it going much further than what it is right now.

[38:58] Allie: Yeah.

[38:59] Ian Allred: But Ice Ice Baby versus More Than Words for you. What are you choosing?

[39:03] Allie: Whoa. Because I feel like those are the bottom two right now.

[39:08] Ian Allred: Yeah.

[39:09] Allie: I might pick More Than Words.

[39:11] Ian Allred: I need to.

[39:12] Allie: If I was watching it, though, it might influence, you know, video.

[39:16] Ian Allred: Uh huh.

[39:17] Allie: I that would actually be like such a hard competition for me because I think More Than Words is such a beautiful song. I just like I really just love it as a song.

[39:25] Ian Allred: That is the easiest competition we could possibly have.

[39:29] Allie: Wait, tell me why.

[39:30] Ian Allred: I'm scared.

[39:32] Allie: Ice Ice Baby clears. Sorry.

[39:34] Ian Allred: Wait, fun.

[39:36] Allie: You've been on, I feel like multiple times with More Than Words.

[39:40] Ian Allred: Yeah, I think it's a snooze. But like, I think I don't hate that song. And it's funny because they're like Lord Tubbington is there is like it's like funny. Um, I don't know. I have a massive soft spot for Ice Ice Baby. I think it's my favorite Will number of season one. Genuinely. I think it's fun when they all are doing the choreo and they join in one by one.

[40:03] Allie: Wait, when you say your favorite Will number of season one, does that mean you have a favorite Will number overall that isn't season one?

[40:10] Ian Allred: I'm like, oh, so on Recovering Gleek, we used to at the end of every season, we'd give out awards. And we would say like, here's each character's best song. And even if it was like a feature, like if it was like they got a verse of the song, we'd count it. And then at the end, we gave like, here's our best song for each character over the entire show. And I know for a fact, and maybe I'm wrong, so please don't fact check me that I said Ice Ice Baby for Will for season one for the entire show. I'm gonna be honest. I don't remember what I said. But I wouldn't be surprised if I said like, fucking make him laugh like someone where he's dancing more. I don't think I said make him laugh. What's the what's the boys and girls on film one that he sings with Emma in the spinning room?

[40:52] Allie: You're all the world to me.

[40:54] Ian Allred: You're all the world to me. I really love that one. So like I maybe said that one. I don't know.

[40:58] Allie: Hey, it's pretty good.

[41:00] Ian Allred: So what do you want today, Allie?

[41:02] Allie: Is Faithfully still in the cup?

[41:04] Ian Allred: Faithfully is still in the cup.

[41:05] Allie: I thought so. Just double checking. I would faithfully would be...

[41:10] Ian Allred: Finchel fan first.

[41:11] Allie: Finchel fan first. And that would be hard to beat. I would against whatever you pulled. But I'm just excited to be here and excited to see what I get.

[41:19] Ian Allred: Here we go. Let's see. It's gonna be this one.

[41:22] Allie: Oh, this is heavy hitter.

[41:26] Ian Allred: Oh, now I'm scared. Because I'm like, this is song only the first song.

[41:32] Allie: Oh here we go.

[41:34] Ian Allred: Oh, no. I'm nervous.

[41:37] Allie: Okay, season three.

[41:39] Ian Allred: Oh, season three.

[41:40] Allie: Yeah.

[41:41] Ian Allred: And you already know what that is.

[41:42] Allie: A Survivor Will Survive.

[41:43] Ian Allred: Oh my god.

[41:45] Allie: No, it's not Survivor Will Survive.

[41:46] Ian Allred: She wins.

[41:47] Allie: Oh, girl, even Adele.

[41:49] Ian Allred: It's fucking Adele. I thought we already pulled this one.

[41:52] Allie: Oh, girl, it wins. I don't care what it's up against. It wins.

[41:56] Ian Allred: Let's go.

[41:57] Allie: What did you just say to her?

[41:59] Ian Allred: What did you just say to her?

[42:00] Allie: You're lying.

[42:02] Ian Allred: No, that's what he said. Everyone's gonna find out now because of you.

[42:05] Allie: The whole school already knows and they don't care.

[42:07] Ian Allred: Not just the school, you idiot. Everyone.

[42:09] Allie: What are you talking about?

[42:15] Ian Allred: Written by Michael Hitchcock. Um, I will say this is like maybe the first time that I watched this. That Finn talking genuinely was pissing me off. That it was like, yeah, actually. What's he talking about? Shut the fuck up.

[42:27] Allie: Pay attention.

[42:31] Ian Allred: Pay attention. It was like...

[42:33] Allie: The PR, hello? You think they're really good? Then continue watching it.

[42:37] Ian Allred: They're in full costume, full dress.

[42:39] Allie: Yep.

[42:40] Ian Allred: Oh my god. Who wants to start discourse?

[42:44] Allie: Ian, what do you think?

[42:45] Ian Allred: Oh, such a good one. In my opinion, better than the Survivor I Will Survive, I will say, if I had to pick Mashup.

[43:05] Ian Allred: Headcanon, but she believes that Santana was supposed to sing that next part of the, like, bless your soul, and then Mercedes looks at her and was like, actually, I'll take it, which I think is such a fun headcanon, right? I like that a lot. Throughout the whole time, I noticed that Santana is giving Brittany, like, looks as Brittany, like, walks by. She'll look this way at Brittany. If you notice, she's giving Brittany, like, these subtle looks the whole time, and I love that, just a little added when you're watching. But the slap heard around the world, I remember watching that slap and being like, oh, like, getting up. I think I was, like, 13, so I'm, like, shooting up off the couch, like, oh, my God. Yeah, no, you had to be there. And then also, but, like, then it kind of, like, I hate to be like this, but, like, it does lose momentum, because the next episode is so terrible.

[44:06] Ally: Girl. Girl.

[44:07] Ian Allred: Remind me, what's right after this?

[44:10] Nicole: I Kissed a Girl.

[44:11] Ian Allred: I Kissed a Girl.

[44:12] Nicole: Where it's, like, they go to Lady Music Week, and it's, like, they really had great momentum, and then they just, like, ruined it.

[44:24] Ian Allred: I think this episode, top to bottom, is top tier. One of the best episodes of season three. It is absolutely incredible. And then freaking Matthew Hodgson fumbled the bag, and now everyone remembers the Santana coming out as, like, one of the worst plot lines in the show. Because obviously, like, in this episode, she's outed, and it's terrible, but it is treated with the appropriate gravity. I mean, and then the next week, they're like, anyways, whatever.

[44:55] Ally: Anyway, girls just want to have fun.

[44:58] Ian Allred: Yeah, especially having such, like, a good coming out story with, like, Kurt's character. They let the ladies down.

[45:06] Nicole: Yeah, and I just think that, like, this scene right before this performance, I think it's, like, it just, like, popped up on TikTok, like, literally yesterday for me, and I rewatched it. That scene with, like, Santana being called into Sue's office, and Will and Burt are there, like, I just think it's, like, so, just, like, really, really wonderfully done. And that it's just, like, it's just really, really unfortunate that it's followed up by one of the worst, maybe the worst for me, episodically.

[45:38] Ian Allred: It's up there. Really bad.

[45:39] Nicole: Yeah. But anyway, this performance—

[45:43] Ally: Constant craving, though? Banger, sorry.

[45:45] Ian Allred: Constant craving, continue.

[45:46] Ally: I love that cover, I think it's great.

[45:49] Ian Allred: It's great. Ian, what are you thinking about this performance?

[45:54] Ian Allred: Anything you pull out of that cup, this is winning. This is my favorite. This is my top one. One of one. Check the tapes. At the end of Recovering Gleek, we each awarded a prize to our favorite song on Glee. I gave mine to the Adele mashup. There is no topping this for me. I love this number so much! They were cooking, they had flames coming out of the recording studio, like—

[46:24] Ally: I'm scared.

[46:25] Ian Allred: It is—

[46:26] Ally: Yeah.

[46:26] Ian Allred: It is the trifecta of everything that makes a good Glee number. Empery 3 rocks. It is a mashup, so it's bringing something new. It is a rare mashup that I believe improves both songs.

[46:38] Ally: Yeah.

[46:39] Ian Allred: Specifically, rumor has it, no shade. I would much rather listen to this than the regular rumor has it. I feel like it elevates both of these songs. I cannot listen to rumor has it, the original, without going, Don't forget me, I beg!

[46:56] Ally: I will say—

[46:57] Ian Allred: It is perfection. I'm just being contrarian at this point.

[47:01] Ally: Okay.

[47:01] Ian Allred: But I do really like—

[47:03] Ally: And they don't include this in the Glee version of rumor has it.

[47:08] Ian Allred: In the original rumor has it, there's like, the bridge of rumor has it.

[47:12] Ally: Oh, oh, oh, all of these words whispered in my ear.

[47:17] Ian Allred: Yes, that is very good.

[47:19] Ally: The rumors—

[47:20] Ian Allred: Yes, I love that.

[47:22] Ally: That is very good. I love that.

[47:23] Ian Allred: So, yeah. No, I—

[47:25] Ally: Fair point, fair point.

[47:26] Ian Allred: Okay. But if you are judging a Glee number off of how good is it to stream, this is one of the best to stream. The song is incredible. If you are judging a Glee number off of how fun is it to watch, the choreography is very interesting and intricate and fun. And also they are all acting down. If you are judging a Glee number off of what is it doing storytelling wise, stakes have literally never been higher. Like Santana is fighting for her life up on that stage. You can see every single emotion across her face. Also, I feel like the experience of, I just received the most life shattering news and now I have to sing in front of an audience is extremely Glee. Like that is a very niche theater kid emotion and I love seeing the show tackle it. This number is the best number in the entire show. I love it so much.

[48:26] Ally: It's really special.

[48:26] Ian Allred: Those are big words.

[48:28] Ally: Big words.

[48:29] Ian Allred: I haven't even told my parents yet.

[48:34] Nicole: That's amazing.

[48:36] Ian Allred: Are you kidding me? It's so good. And I was just like thinking while watching this performance that I'm like, just Santana as a character has, and as established specifically in this episode, Mash Off, that like she was raised by like a buela that like, um, that really put into her that like, just like, I'm going to treat you like shit, treat you like shit, treat you like shit. That's all she knows how to like do to people. And so I'm just thinking, I don't know if this like, I don't know if what I'm saying will make sense, but I'll try that. Like, um, so with Santana having this like M.O. throughout her entire life that it's like, hey, this is how I need to kind of protect myself to treat people terribly.

Finn specifically in this episode, that it's like that to have that backfire. And then it's just like, fuck, like this was my only like coping mechanism. And then it's just like, it's, I don't know. I just really, I just think that it's like really, really wonderfully done the up until this point, of course, the Santana coming out. And it's like, it really had the foundation to be something really great.

[49:48] Ally: I also think Kurt and I agree, I kissed a girl fumbles the bag so bad, and then they never really are able to fully pick it back up.

[49:58] Ian Allred: Yeah, but Kurt's coming out story is the story of someone who largely obviously not like perfectly, but largely understands and accepts themself, but is in an environment that does not accept them. And they like have an acceptance of what is inside. It's just like, I can't bring that out into the world yet.

[50:19] Ally: Yeah.

[50:19] Ian Allred: Santana's coming out as the experience of someone who the external environment, yes, is unsupportive, but also the internal environment is unsupportive. It is I myself want to like purge this from my system. I don't want this to be true. And I think that is why Kurt is largely yes, he like gets a little sassy, but it's like largely pretty kind person. And Santana is very mean, because she, it's not that like, oh, I wish people could accept the fact that I was a lesbian. It's I wish I wasn't a lesbian. And this changes through the course of the show. That's like what's so beautiful about her character arc. But having been raised in that environment, having been raised by her abuela, she just like has this deep, I don't even know like what my point is here.

But I just find that comparison very interesting. Her, her having to find and accept it in herself, as opposed to just external forces being what has to change their mind. Because for a lot of queer people, that's the situation is you got that internalized homophobia, really sticking in your craw and you got to deal with it.

[51:28] Ally: Right? Yeah, there's a lot here.

[51:31] Ian Allred: I am spooked about what's going to come out of this cup. I'm so scared.

[51:34] Nicole: I've never felt calmer.

[51:37] Ian Allred: There are songs that I don't want to get out this early. So I guess I am scared.

[51:41] Ally: There's not many. Let's see.

[51:45] Ian Allred: I'm like shaking my boots.

[51:48] Ally: Oh, this is interesting.

[51:51] Ian Allred: I feel a little bit better, I will say. But I don't feel...

[51:54] Ally: It's more than words.

[51:56] Ian Allred: That would be a sigh of relief if more than words.

[51:59] Ally: It's not more than words.

[52:02] Ian Allred: Um, I think that we will have a lot to say about this number. Where is she?

[52:06] Ally: This is she, her pronouns.

[52:09] Ian Allred: There you go.

[52:10] Ally: Oh, okay.

[52:12] Ian Allred: Oh, yeah. I have things to say.

[52:17] Ally: The cinematic parallels of Britannia going down the hallway. I love this competition. Britannia going down the hallway, Santana running down the hallway. At the beginning of Rumor House, it's someone like, Girl, there's something there.

[52:27] Ian Allred: There's something there.

[52:32] Ally: Touch a touch a touch me. The chat is writing the eulogy right now for this.

[52:38] Ian Allred: Appropriately.

[52:39] Ally: Appropriately. But I feel like we do need to... We already know what's going to happen, but we need to give this song its flowers.

[52:47] Ian Allred: Of course, it's great. Allie, what are you thinking?

[52:50] Ally: I... this is not my fave. It's actually probably like my least favorite of the Rocky Horror songs.

[52:56] Ian Allred: Oh, really?

[52:58] Ally: Yes. I hate the word changes from the original Rocky Horror. It really throws me off when she's like bad fredding.

[53:05] Ian Allred: Girl.

[53:07] Ally: It's so dumb. It's so dumb. And the fact that Emma is singing a song where she's like, I want to be dirty, when like that is like the least Emma thing that she could possibly say. She's like knocking everything off the table. She hates mess.

[53:22] Ian Allred: Well, I think that's the point.

[53:23] Ally: No, that's the point where she's like... She's like when she's with Carl, she gets to like kind of like let her hair down a little bit.

[53:33] Ian Allred: I don't get it. I'm not here for it.

[53:35] Ally: It's not for you. And also Santana and Brit, as much as I love them, like chitter-chattering in the window there, if I saw my teachers getting it on through the window, I would be mortified.

[53:47] Ian Allred: Yeah.

[53:48] Ally: I wasn't even thinking about that.

[53:49] Ian Allred: That's true.

[53:50] Ally: Yeah, they're stripping each other down. They're little freaks for watching that.

[53:55] Ian Allred: And there's a moment where they're like full volume moaning. You're like, oh, that is crazy.

[54:04] Ally: Crazy. I think I just like the original, like Broadway cast version of this song. So it really throws me off of, or like the movie version. It throws me off of this a lot because of all of the differences. I think you can't really PG this song to make it like television friendly.

[54:27] Ian Allred: Sure.

[54:29] Ally: Yes. You're responding to something.

[54:32] Ian Allred: Since responding to what Eduardo said in the chat.

[54:34] Ally: Oh, I was not reading. Eduardo's saying, Emma choosing between Will and Carl when a trip to Paris is on the table. Open your eyes, girl.

[54:48] Ian Allred: Oh, that's bad.

[54:51] Ally: I'm not a fave overall. But I...

[54:54] Ian Allred: I do like when she says small fraction.

[54:57] Ally: That's just one small fraction.

[55:03] Ian Allred: I feel like this...

[55:06] Ally: Emma, when she, when Jamie Mays gets into the booth, it's always legendary for me. Always legendary. Except for, I'll say it, her just like doing the backing for Danny's song. Forgettable. Um, that's like the one time where I was like, girl, what are we even doing? Um, but this and like Getting Married Today. I'm like, oh, damn. They were really cooking when they were like, you know who should sing these songs? Jamie Mays.

[55:36] Ian Allred: Getting Married Today, I completely agree with. I think she rocks that. That I'll listen to. This one throws me off.

[55:44] Ally: Any love for Wedding Bell Blues?

[55:46] Ian Allred: Wedding Bell Blues!

[55:47] Ally: I love Wedding Bell Blues! When they, I just like, oh my god, this is like one of those things where I'm like, I wish that I was in the room where they were like, because the literal, the original is Marry Me, Bill. Marry Me. Yeah. And they're like, what if we switch the content? It's perfect. We have struck gold!

[56:07] Ian Allred: Yeah.

[56:08] Ally: Um, the only thing that I feel like I, it would have been a trifecta of like Jamie Mays, um, musical theater songs with this, Getting Married Today. And I can hear the bells. I need Jamie Mays singing I Can Hear the Bells.

[56:24] Ian Allred: We do get I Could Have Danced All Night.

[56:25] Ally: That's a trifecta.

[56:26] Ian Allred: Oh, there we go. I don't really care for that though.

[56:29] Ally: It's fine.

[56:29] Ian Allred: It's fine.

[56:30] Ally: Yeah.

[56:31] Ian Allred: You're distracted by the rain in Spain.

[56:35] Ally: Oh, exactly.

[56:36] Ian Allred: Yeah. I purged all my fair lady out of my brain after that number. Um, okay. What else do we need to say? Whose is everyone's favorite creature of the night?

[56:47] Ally: Santana.

[56:49] Ian Allred: Santana.

[56:49] Ally: Okay.

[56:50] Ian Allred: I like Finn is very, very cutesy to me.

[56:53] Ally: I agree.

[56:54] Ian Allred: I like that he's like, now what the hell's going on here? Like, I think that's very funny.

[56:59] Ally: It's not her.

[57:00] Ian Allred: Okay, Allie.

[57:01] Ally: Okay.

[57:02] Ian Allred: Okay.

[57:06] Ally: I think that Britney is kind of scary too.

[57:09] Ian Allred: I, I don't like Britney.

[57:10] Ally: Yeah, she's the only one to sing it.

[57:12] Ian Allred: Yeah.

[57:12] Ally: Yeah.

[57:13] Ian Allred: Um, anything else we need to say about Touch Me?

[57:17] Ally: Emma girl, I love you. Love you down bad. I have so much to say about this number and that's a huge exaggeration. I think this number is fun. I think it's great. You guys and RAC.

[57:27] Ian Allred: In the chat. Matthew Morrison has never looked hotter. I'm sorry.

[57:34] Ally: I was in my Santana Lopez bag when this episode aired. I was like, and I'm straight and I don't know what you're talking about. Yeah. And Emma ripped that shirt off him and his tie stayed on. And I was like, oh no. Yeah. Oh no, something is happening. He has never looked better. He looked hot as hell in this song. Sorry. Really, really need to apologize.

[57:56] Nicole: Yeah. Hey, you know that scene? I think it's I Am Unicorn where Will yells at Quinn in front of like Becky and Sue. And then before Becky leaves the room, Becky says to Will, that was really sexy. A girl who gets it. A girl who gets it. She understands me.

[58:25] Ian Allred: Yeah. But what else do you need to say? Anything else?

[58:32] Ally: No, I love, I love, I think this is my favorite song in Rocky Horror, like the show.

[58:39] Ian Allred: Yeah, I love this song. And I personally, I get what you're saying, Ali. I do think it's appropriate for Emma because I think that Emma is kind of a Janet. We're like, Janet's whole arc is like she is very like prim proper put together woman. And she's got a bit of an inner freak in her that has been silenced by outside forces. And this song is her being like, oh, the freak is in there and the freak has come into life. And I think, Emma, just at the end of the day, at the end of the day, Carl is great. She is not in love with Carl. But when she is with Will, it's like everything that like seems gross to me with other people. Actually, you bring out that dog in me sounds hot as hell with you. And I actually would pound you right here right now on this desk with my stuff on the floor. I feel like this episode like leads me to believe that she's getting freaky.

[59:40] Nicole: She's not. I don't know. Okay, because like she and Carl famously never have sex. They don't have sex, but she's not doing like anything.

[59:46] Ian Allred: No, I guess I think they're kissing. But I think like even the kissing is not getting very hot and heavy.

[59:51] Ally: Yeah, no, no, no, no, no. Uh huh. I think the whole deal is like, which is such a trope in TV. But the whole deal is like, Carl is on paper the best guy ever. But unfortunately, he's not the love of her life. It is a very it's like, not to bring in The Office, but it's very like Karen and Jim in season three of The Office where it's like, Karen is so awesome. And she's such a great girlfriend. But at the end of the day, she is not Pam. Like at the end of the day, it's not Will. And no matter what ups and downs they go through, she's in love with that man. And like, that's her man.

[1:00:31] Nicole: Yeah.

[1:00:32] Ian Allred: Okay. So not saying I agree or like it, but like that is the very much the vibe of the two of them that I get throughout the show. Um, I do think that this Rocky Horror Glee Show had like a lot of its songs like going forward. I remember like this thing like going into like round two, like how like it was like the most songs out of an episode were going through to round two. And I think that this is the last song remaining. And I think that it's about to, if I were a betting man, it's about to get to the ax.

[1:01:05] Ally: Um, are we ready to vote?

[1:01:15] Ian Allred: Yes.

[1:01:15] Nicole: Yeah.

[1:01:15] Ally: So it's gonna be Rumour Has It/Someone Like You for me?

[1:01:20] Ian Allred: Yeah.

[1:01:20] Nicole: Yeah.

[1:01:20] Ian Allred: Goodbye. Touch, touch, touch me. It's hard against that one.

[1:01:36] Ally: I am as well.

[1:01:37] Ian Allred: The competition. What do you think would be yours?

[1:01:41] Ally: Damn it, Janet.

[1:01:43] Ian Allred: Damn it, Janet.

[1:01:43] Ally: Kind of most of the other ones.

[1:01:46] Ian Allred: Oh, really?

[1:01:47] Ally: I this is my favorite song in Rocky Horror the show. I don't love this cover. Um, I would say I liked it. Janet better. I think Sweet Transvestite way better.

[1:02:03] Ian Allred: Oh, yeah.

[1:02:05] Ally: I also really like the Glee Time Warp personally. So I think any of those three would beat it easy for me.

[1:02:15] Nicole: I agree.

[1:02:15] Ian Allred: Time Warp was taken out by um, maybe this time.

[1:02:18] Ally: What took out Damn it, Janet?

[1:02:20] Ian Allred: And that's fair.

[1:02:21] Ally: What took out Damn it, Janet?

[1:02:22] Ian Allred: I love the horror.

[1:02:26] Ally: I love Mercedes Quinn and Kurt in the background going, Janet. Janet. So funny.

[1:02:35] Ian Allred: Damn it, Janet lost to Oh, Anything You Can Do. Anything Goes.

[1:02:43] Nicole: You don't agree and

[1:02:45] Ian Allred: I don't know. I would need to watch them both.

[1:02:49] Ally: Well, I think it's surprising.

[1:02:51] Ian Allred: Damn it, Janet. Because I'm not emotionally attached.

[1:02:56] Ally: Yeah.

[1:02:56] Ian Allred: Um, Ali, before you go, wait, what do you think could take out Rumour Has It/Someone Like You? Do you think Faithfully could?

[1:03:07] Ally: It would probably right now if I were to like, say winner of my Glock it'd probably be Faithfully.

[1:03:12] Ian Allred: Faithfully. Oh, yeah.

[1:03:13] Ally: So Rumour Has It/Someone Like You like, uh, where does it rank like number wise for you? Do you think?

[1:03:18] Nicole: Oh, it's probably I would say it's going to the top five.

[1:03:18] Ian Allred: Top five.

[1:03:22] Ally: Yeah, it's up there. It's going. It's making the long run.

[1:03:22] Ian Allred: It's making the long run. We'll see. I'm excited. I'm really glad that it made it through.

[1:03:32] Ally: I am too. I was worried.

[1:03:34] Ian Allred: It wasn't.

[1:03:35] Ally: Yeah, I was.

[1:03:36] Ian Allred: This is winning over everything. I was like, Oh, God, please don't.

[1:03:40] Ally: I was scared for like Faithfully or like I Feel Pretty/Unpretty or I forget what else is in here.

[1:03:46] Ian Allred: But yeah, there were.

[1:03:47] Ally: I Feel Pretty/Unpretty is still left. I forgot.

[1:03:49] Ian Allred: It's still around. Okay, Allie, thank you so much.

[1:03:53] Ally: Thanks for having me. It's always a pleasure. Until next time.

[1:03:57] Ian Allred: Till next time. Bye.

[1:03:59] Ally: Bye. Nicole.

[1:04:02] Nicole: Hi.

[1:04:03] Ian Allred: Nicole, listen, girl, every time you show up, the cliques are set. You have shit to say.

[1:04:14] Nicole: I've had such a bad year and it only got worse seeing how many Kurt numbers just lost recently.

[1:04:21] Ian Allred: Wait, I mean, I mean, this is such a joke because of the next joke I'm about to make. But my mom died this year and this was still somehow worse seeing the numbers that just left.

[1:04:37] Ian Allred: Wait, what Kurt songs are you grieving specifically?

[1:04:42] Nicole: I understand I'm in the minority here. I understand I'm in the minority here.

[1:04:46] Nicole: So I can't hold it too hard. But I saw the competition last week of Four Minutes versus We Didn't Even Talk About This.

[1:04:55] Ian Allred: Yeah, and I forgot about that.

[1:04:57] Nicole: Yeah, yeah, yeah. And I was so pissed off.

[1:05:01] Ian Allred: I was a little behind on episode. So I watched it. I listened to it literally just before I jumped on.

[1:05:07] Nicole: Yeah.

[1:05:10] Ian Allred: Andrew, how could you?

[1:05:12] Nicole: You gave me hope that you were going to vote for Four Minutes.

[1:05:14] Ian Allred: The entirety of that.

[1:05:15] Nicole: Well, there was nothing I could do.

[1:05:16] Ian Allred: There were I was against Allison.

[1:05:18] Nicole: Listen, I understand.

[1:05:19] Ian Allred: Yeah, I understand.

[1:05:20] Nicole: But still, but still.

[1:05:22] Ian Allred: Listen, I understand.

[1:05:25] Nicole: I will absolutely fight for Rose's Turn. I was so scared Rose's Turn was going to come up last competition.

[1:05:31] Ian Allred: Yeah.

[1:05:31] Nicole: And I was just gonna go even harder into this bit.

[1:05:35] Ian Allred: But New York State of Mind.

[1:05:39] Nicole: And I'm going to lump. It's always it's all coming back to me now and to the same thing of Rachel songs. I don't get the hype for because it's giving the worst version of Rachel Berry that I don't like and no one likes no one likes her winning everything and getting everything she wanted when she doesn't deserve it. That's all.

[1:05:56] Ian Allred: But those are the most emblematic of that song.

[1:05:58] Nicole: No one likes the season. No one likes the season four Rachel New Girl era.

[1:06:04] Ian Allred: Including I've been I listen.

[1:06:07] Nicole: I am a like I am with you. I would have voted for Four Minutes.

[1:06:12] Ian Allred: I literally forgot to bring that one up. I'm glad you're bringing it up now.

[1:06:16] Nicole: I hate hot girl Rachel.

[1:06:19] Ian Allred: I agree.

[1:06:20] Nicole: Wait, but like, I think wait.

[1:06:22] Ian Allred: Okay, here's the thing, Andrew.

[1:06:25] Nicole: Here's the thing, Andrew.

[1:06:26] Ian Allred: Let her talk.

[1:06:28] Nicole: Let me talk.

[1:06:30] Nicole: Okay, it's all coming back to me now is the song she gets into Niata with, which is crazy. If she did, if she's saying it's all coming back to me now and Madam Tibbett was there and she still didn't get into Niata, I would have such an appreciation for that song. But that being the thing that turns it all around and I'm supposed to be happy for her. I'm supposed to be happy for the extra special Rachel song that that like she gets at only the season three competitions because she sat out sectionals and therefore she should get an extra special Rachel song for the next two competitions. I fucking hate.

[1:07:03] Ian Allred: Thank you.

[1:07:03] Nicole: Uh, I think it's always.

[1:07:06] Ian Allred: Yeah, here's to us.

[1:07:07] Nicole: I couldn't even remember it.

[1:07:11] Nicole: Like the the fucking Troubletones like compromise that they make of every single New Directions will sit on the sidelines for both the Troubletones number and the extra special Rachel song.

[1:07:30] Ian Allred: When every other competition before that, everybody pushes back against this song.

[1:07:35] Nicole: And also, I understand people think that Survivor I Will Survive should have won like the Troubletones at like that sectionals.

[1:07:45] Ian Allred: But it was the most diverse like grouping of New Directions like members and we're now going to pretend it's a bad thing so that Rachel can get.

[1:07:54] Nicole: It's all coming back to me now.

[1:07:55] Ian Allred: We're going to pretend that it's a good thing.

[1:07:57] Nicole: And I hear people being like, it's better than Drop.

[1:08:00] Ian Allred: No, the fuck it isn't.

[1:08:01] Nicole: No, the fuck it isn't. What the fuck are we talking about?

[1:08:06] Ian Allred: And it's the exact same thing.

[1:08:08] Nicole: The two things I don't like about season four are Rachel's like hot girl era. Like, oh, I'm a like hot girl who gets everything I want. And I'm just living my quirky dreams. And also the boring New Directions that were brought in and don't have storylines. Marley, those are the two worst parts.

[1:08:28] Ian Allred: And you're saying a boring ballad is the thing that should be Four Minutes?

[1:08:33] Nicole: Can I interject?

[1:08:34] Ian Allred: And just I under I'm hearing everything that you're.

[1:08:38] Nicole: No, the only the only rebuttal I have to say is that New York State of Mind is before Hot Rachel canonically happens.

[1:08:48] Ian Allred: Because you're saying it's before it's before makeover.

[1:08:51] Nicole: I'm not counting that.

[1:08:54] Ian Allred: It is the same New Girl stylist that she has the whole season.

[1:08:59] Nicole: Okay, okay.

[1:09:09] Ian Allred: Yeah, but so you're big time mad.

[1:09:12] Nicole: I'm big time mad.

[1:09:14] Ian Allred: I also I want to go back and change my vote for the last time I sent Nowhere Through because just so that it didn't win.

[1:09:22] Nicole: Wait, you're losing me.

[1:09:23] Ian Allred: You're losing you.

[1:09:24] Nicole: I know the competition for Nowhere that you were part of.

[1:09:27] Ian Allred: Oh, I like Nowhere better than the other song.

[1:09:30] Nicole: It was it was against You Can't Stop the Beat.

[1:09:33] Ian Allred: You Can't Stop the Beat.

[1:09:36] Nicole: Yes.

[1:09:36] Ian Allred: Yeah, I think that I think they're both roughly the same level in my head of these are fine.

[1:09:43] Nicole: Yeah, I think there are more campy.

[1:09:46] Ian Allred: Here's the thing.

[1:09:47] Nicole: I think Nowhere doesn't lean into camp hard enough.

[1:09:49] Ian Allred: And it's not like for me to put it into the same level of, again, those like low stakes, fun, like stupid Glee numbers that Ian was talking about.

[1:09:59] Nicole: Yeah, like a run.

[1:10:00] Ian Allred: Joey, we're on.

[1:10:00] Nicole: Yeah, or even like a if I'm just going like for the first part of season one, like even a like Mr. Shoe singing, like rapping with the kids, like that kind of like he's the like, like he's the out of touch teacher that's like rapping with them.

[1:10:21] Ian Allred: I'm thinking like Ice Ice Baby is still in the club.

[1:10:24] Nicole: Yeah, I do like Ice Ice Baby.

[1:10:26] Ian Allred: I don't think it's winning against any of the songs remaining except for that one writer number that's here for whatever reason.

[1:10:31] Nicole: But there are no writer songs left.

[1:10:33] Ian Allred: What are you talking about?

[1:10:34] Nicole: Isn't that isn't that what the Oh, it might be a Britney number.

[1:10:37] Ian Allred: It's you guys are talking about it before.

[1:10:40] Nicole: Yeah, yeah.

[1:10:44] Ian Allred: That is.

[1:10:49] Nicole: There's two songs in.

[1:10:51] Ian Allred: They're both from the same episode, right?

[1:10:53] Nicole: Yeah, it's from Shooting Star.

[1:10:55] Ian Allred: Yeah, yeah. I'm not gonna lie. I think first time I watched it, I kind of like scrubbed through the song a little bit.

[1:11:01] Nicole: Yeah, huh?

[1:11:03] Ian Allred: Yeah, I just.

[1:11:05] Nicole: Is that are you talking about? Is that when writer sings to the girl that he thinks is okay, which crazy to use a picture of Unique Adams?

[1:11:15] Ian Allred: Listen to me. Crazy to use a picture of an actual girl that actively goes to your school.

[1:11:21] Nicole: No, that's fine.

[1:11:23] Ian Allred: Somebody is not going to see on a random Wednesday. What the hell?

[1:11:26] Nicole: Absolutely Unique. Previously went to a different school.

[1:11:30] Ian Allred: If she had to pick somebody that came from Carmel.

[1:11:33] Nicole: Pick somebody from Carmel.

[1:11:36] Ian Allred: Make writer think he's in a like Jesse St. James situation.

[1:11:39] Nicole: I literally I want to be in the cogs of Unique's mind when she like saw that girl in class and was like.

[1:11:50] Nicole: Oh, that's the canvas. I found her. I like to think that that girl, this is my headcanon, that girl was like on a suspended absence. She was like, she had like a really bad disease that she was like out of school for like a long time. And Unique's like, she's never coming back. She's never coming back. She shows up to class one day being like, hey, I'm back. I'm so happy to be here. I love my, I love like the people at McKinley. And Unique is like, oh my god, girl. So glad to see you. Fuck, fuck, fuck, fuck. No. It's all falling apart, actually. Do we have confirmed what her name is? Because Catfish is Katie, right?

[1:12:35] Ian Allred: Oh, no.

[1:12:36] Nicole: And so is her name Marissa?

[1:12:38] Ian Allred: Yes.

[1:12:40] Nicole: So real picture fake name. Okay, her real name is Marissa. Unique uses Katie. Katie was the fake name.

[1:12:46] Ian Allred: Yeah.

[1:12:48] Nicole: Okay, okay, okay. I did skip most, I kind of scrubbed through most of this plot the first time I watched and I really haven't had a reason to go back to it. I just remember when I first introduced Elias Tigley, we like watched like one episode where it was like in the, we weren't watching in an order. We watched one episode that was like in the midst of the Catfish storyline. And he was like, oh, I need to watch every episode that chronicles the Catfish storyline. He was like, this is for me. This is the storyline that I need.

[1:13:24] Nicole: Put that in the Glee boot.

[1:13:25] Ian Allred: Exactly. We need more catfishing in the Glee boot. Nicole, dare I ask, do you have more grievances?

[1:13:34] Nicole: Listen, I agree with a lot of people that for the most part round four is like, hey, these are hard competitions. I give everyone on the episodes grace because like, hey, these are hard competitions. And then it was just like a run of things that I'm like, yeah, I feel like the past few episodes have been really, really tough.

[1:13:55] Ian Allred: Yeah, it was like, again, I know that both of you guys like "No Air." I think it's fine. It doesn't lean in hard enough for me. And I love "Happy Days Are Here Again." My personal favorite storyline on Glee is the season two Kurt stuff that is not Dalton. The like the pre-Dalton and the post-Dalton Kurt stuff is absolutely a like, this is for me.

[1:14:24] Nicole: Yeah, I agree.

[1:14:25] Ian Allred: I wanted to burn Dalton down when he got sent there.

[1:14:28] Nicole: And you were the person that burned it down in season six.

[1:14:32] Ian Allred: Yes, it was me. Never go back to this place.

[1:14:39] Nicole: And I was 16. I was like, no, no, I was 15, 16 when those episodes were coming out. So I could have just been a student. I live in Pittsburgh. It's in Ohio. I could have done it. Take it down.

[1:14:50] Ian Allred: Yeah, I could have done that building. Yeah, burn that school.

[1:14:54] Nicole: I just never like when Glee because Glee doesn't do anything besides Glee doesn't actually do anything interesting with it. I don't like when Glee is like, I'm going to separate the Glee club. I famously had a big rant against the Troubletones because I think that storyline was poorly handled and bad. I feel the same way about Dalton. Everything was coming up at its most interesting. Quite frankly, if we like kept Karofsky, he like fights the expulsion, but goes to a different school. And the football team now doesn't know why it happened because Kurt still kind of feels fierce for his life and doesn't want to out Karofsky. But the football team just goes harder on bullying the Glee club. And then it like comes to a head at the like it comes to a head and is like an actual showdown.

[1:15:46] Ian Allred: Yeah, that leads to like the social vest or shuffle. That's such a good potential story.

[1:15:53] Nicole: I'm hearing you. I'm hearing that is interesting. Especially because the idea of having the football team in the Glee club without Kurt there feels like such like the missed opportunity of the century because Kurt is essentially the reason that those footballers hate the Glee club because of like a lot of homophobia and stuff like that. And also I like the idea of just like Kurt bottling all of his emotions and it like getting released of the idea of instead of whatever fucking Huck Rachel duet that happens in that episode, Kurt's like, you know what? No, fuck this. This is gay week. This is gay week, motherfuckers. You think show tunes are gay? Great. We're going to sing "La Vie Bohème" right now, right here. We're doing a "La Cage aux Folles." Here we go.

[1:16:42] Ian Allred: And like it comes to a point like that, like, hey, healing, like healing and especially season two is also when Kurt and Finn become stepbrothers and like Finn has agreed to step up if Kurt is there. I want to do that. Everything about the Dalton plot just feels like it's a missed opportunity from everything I loved about season two.

[1:17:04] Nicole: Ian, I'm hearing you on all accounts. I think that this is your call to action to start a damn Glee podcast yourself. I think that you have so many large thoughts about this show that need to be heard. That, yeah, no, it's iconic.

[1:17:25] Ian Allred: If I had anyone in my life I could convince to do a Glee podcast with, I absolutely would. My one friend who I'm trying to start a podcast with once life stops kicking us in the ass. It's, uh, like we have a concept. We've done a, like a couple episodes. We just haven't posted anything because we tried to do a backlog. But, uh, we were, I did at one point be like, I kind of want to do a Glee podcast. And they were just fully like, hey, find someone else.

[1:18:00] Nicole: This is a call to action. If you want to do a podcast with Nicole, Nicole, um, you know where to find her.

[1:18:06] Nicole: I have opinions on absolutely everything all of the time. And so listen, if you want to do a Glee podcast, I'm there. Doctor Who podcast, I'm there. Somebody do a podcast with me. I want to talk about my special interests.

[1:18:22] Ian Allred: There we go. Nicole, what do you want to see?

[1:18:25] Nicole: Okay. So your previous competitions were "You Can't Stop the Beat" versus "Nowhere." And what was your other one?

[1:18:31] Ian Allred: It was, um, "Barracuda" versus the, uh, season five version of, um, "Keep Holding On."

[1:18:42] Nicole: Okay.

[1:18:43] Ian Allred: Yeah. So I don't have good luck with competition.

[1:18:46] Nicole: "Keep Holding On" won.

[1:18:48] Ian Allred: "Keep Holding On" won because both me and, because both me and Andrew, both me and you were kind of, yeah, Ian left. But, uh, if I remember correctly, it was, it was the like homophobia of Rachel.

[1:19:04] Nicole: Yes.

[1:19:05] Ian Allred: For that whole storyline of best gay.

[1:19:08] Nicole: I do remember you talking about that.

[1:19:09] Ian Allred: Yes.

[1:19:10] Nicole: You made good points. You made good points. What do you, what do you want out of this competition today?

[1:19:16] Nicole: So here's the thing. I have two competitions here and I have three competitions on this. I, every time I'm like, I want a controversial comp. I want something where people are like screwing my, are saying screw Nicole. Every single time I say that though, um, I don't get it and I get layups or I get "Barracuda" versus "Keep Holding On" season five.

[1:19:41] Ian Allred: Yeah.

[1:19:47] Nicole: I get innocent as the first song pulled on the Swackette. Like it's, it's not good for me if I say that. So I'm going to say I want an easy layup. I want, I want "Rose's Turn" to go through happy, uh, because Kurt's my favorite character on this show. And, um, I'll take the fucking, it's a, it's a Bram duet. Uh, it's not the "More Than Words."

[1:20:14] Ian Allred: Let's go.

[1:20:15] Nicole: Like Nicole, there, you lit like a fire underneath me. Then you accused me of like, that there was a writer song still around. I was like, don't get it twisted.

[1:20:27] Ian Allred: How dare you?

[1:20:28] Nicole: Yeah.

[1:20:29] Ian Allred: Listen, I remember in terms of that episode of Glee, the school shooting episode, believe it or not, I only remember the school shooting part of the school shooting episode.

[1:20:39] Nicole: I knew that was the episode it was from.

[1:20:41] Ian Allred: I knew there's two songs in that episode before the end.

[1:20:45] Nicole: Oh yeah.

[1:20:46] Ian Allred: Before the end song. Uh, there's two preschool shooting songs and, uh, both of them were like, hey man, I could give less of a rat's ass. I don't care.

[1:20:57] Nicole: Uh, I neither care about Bram, nor do I care about writer.

[1:21:03] Ian Allred: They're really, but do you care about Marissa?

[1:21:06] Nicole: Yeah.

[1:21:06] Ian Allred: Marissa is in the Glee boot is in the Glee boot. Marissa is the, like the old character who it is centering around is Marissa. She is now teaching at McKinley and she's starting a Glee club. Here's the crazy thing about Marissa. She found out Unique was doing that and was so honored that she started a friendship with Unique and, uh, the two hit it off in college and they actually are now in a lesbian relationship.

[1:21:36] Nicole: That's beautiful.

[1:21:38] Ian Allred: And they're actually both at McKinley as teachers.

[1:21:41] Nicole: Marisk.

[1:21:44] Ian Allred: Wait, I think that it's like, also now that I'm thinking about it, Marissa was like way too cool about like being like, she was like, Oh wow. That's why she reaches out to Unique in the Glee boot because she's like, I want to know the mentality behind why this happens. And then it just becomes a thing of like, Oh my God, we actually have like so many, like mutual interests.

[1:22:08] Nicole: Yeah.

[1:22:08] Ian Allred: She's like every, every single day when she goes to school, she's constantly being told that, you know, she's being, she's the, she's the face of catfishing. She's like another guy is coming up to her.

[1:22:21] Nicole: I will say in terms of a, that's kind of a high school thing. I do know that my high school had like random lists of students and like photos circling around of like what people thought like hot or not lists and type like that. So like the idea of like going a step further and being like, yeah, I'm just going to use this and pretend to be a different photo. Like fake nudes, I remember were made at one point at my high school or like things like that.

[1:22:45] Ian Allred: So the idea of like, yeah, no, my face just keeps circling around five times that card at Carmel three times Dalton which was weird. Six times that, that one, the like sister school for Dalton.

[1:23:00] Nicole: Yeah, it just keeps happening.

[1:23:02] Ian Allred: And I just go to McKinley.

[1:23:04] Nicole: I just, guys, I got it like that.

[1:23:07] Ian Allred: Um, okay.

[1:23:08] Nicole: I should not have taken all those photos for that stock picture company.

[1:23:11] Ian Allred: Honestly, it's on me.

[1:23:14] Nicole: Okay. Getty images. I really needed the money. What can I say?

[1:23:17] Ian Allred: Quite frankly, if you're getting paid bank, yeah, you're that chill about it.

[1:23:21] Nicole: When, uh, some guy just starts singing a ballad in your face.

[1:23:25] Ian Allred: You've never talked to him finish.

[1:23:28] Nicole: Yeah.

[1:23:29] Ian Allred: She wants him to sing the whole song.

[1:23:31] Nicole: She's like crazy. She's like interested in writer.

[1:23:34] Ian Allred: She's like, oh, you're homo, homo, homo, homo, a wuga.

[1:23:38] Nicole: I don't care how hot the guy is a man.

[1:23:42] Ian Allred: I've never seen before pulls me into a room and start singing at me within five seconds. I'd be like, do we know each other? What's going on right now?

[1:23:49] Nicole: Listen, the rule of the universe is that unless it's, unless it's Tina Cohen Chang, if somebody's singing, you have to let them finish.

[1:23:58] Ian Allred: Yeah.

[1:23:58] Nicole: Do you have to let Tina Cohen Chang was catfish as well?

[1:24:02] Ian Allred: And then she also goes to Marissa.

[1:24:04] Nicole: I'm not, I don't even know what I'm saying at this point.

[1:24:06] Ian Allred: Yeah.

[1:24:06] Nicole: It's a Polly situation.

[1:24:09] Ian Allred: That's the one time that Marissa is like, we don't know each other. She gets five words out and Marissa's like, we've never spoken. Why are you singing? What the fuck?

[1:24:17] Ian Allred: Um, I have the first song of your competition, Nicole.

[1:24:22] Nicole: Here we go.

[1:24:24] Ian Allred: It's rider.

[1:24:25] Nicole: No.

[1:24:26] Ian Allred: Do you, okay. Do you see what you're looking at?

[1:24:28] Nicole: This is "Father Figure," right?

[1:24:30] Ian Allred: It is "Father Figure."

[1:24:31] Nicole: Yes. This is a banger.

[1:24:33] Ian Allred: This is a banger.

[1:24:36] Nicole: Season six started out so strong and then it really went down the shitter.

[1:24:40] Ian Allred: When does, when does it lose for you?

[1:24:42] Nicole: When, when was the falling off point?

[1:24:45] Ian Allred: When Nicole lit Dalton on fucking fire is when it, I think the setup of.

[1:24:53] Nicole: I only regret doing it that late.

[1:24:55] Ian Allred: The setup of all of our heroes are competing against each other is so exciting. I love Will's like turn to the dark side running Vocal Adrenaline. I genuinely really love the season six newbies. I think they're really, really fun, really fun. And they're obviously supporting character. We're focusing on Rachel and Kurt, but like they, they give them all, you know, some sort of interesting thing.

[1:25:19] Nicole: Yeah.

[1:25:22] Ian Allred: And then halfway through the season, there's like a weird shift where we really stop giving the students like any airtime at all. And now it's like just focusing on Rachel's big Broadway dream and just focusing on wedding planning and Dalton burns down. And so all the Warblers join the New Directions and Will quits Vocal Adrenaline and any sort of dramatic tension going into the finale is completely gone.

[1:25:48] Nicole: It's gone.

[1:25:49] Ian Allred: Yeah. It was so like, Oh, whoever wins, it's going to be tough. And then we go into that episode, which I guess it's not the finale. It's the third to last episode. But we go into that episode being like, every character we like is on the New Directions and every character we don't like is on the other team. Talking about, we built this Glee club, which I feel like is essentially the finale of the show without being like, because dreams.

[1:26:11] Ian Allred: Comes true is even worse than a fucking terrible episode.

[1:26:13] Ally: I agree.

[1:26:13] Nicole: Come true is like fully like I hate that episode.

[1:26:16] Ian Allred: 2009 obviously is not moving anything.

[1:26:21] Ally: Banger episode.

[1:26:22] Nicole: Yeah. Banger episode.

[1:26:24] Ian Allred: 2009 rocks.

[1:26:25] Nicole: I think it's something different.

[1:26:28] Ian Allred: I think 2009 is a fun concept for an episode.

[1:26:32] Nicole: It's just little things that...

[1:26:36] Ian Allred: They try to gaslight me about for season four like of what was happening in season one that I'm like, you can't convince me Humbleberry was friends in season one. Actually, you also can't convince me. Like there's little things like that where I'm like, this is like, yeah, this is a fine episode that I think that like Artie and Tina were like dared into joining the Glee Club.

[1:27:01] Ally: Yeah. Right. Yeah.

[1:27:03] Ian Allred: Which I'm like, no, they wanted to be there. So which it's one of those things of Glee has a habit of making other characters less interested in Glee Club to prop up how much Rachel cares about Glee Club rather than making Rachel the extreme to other people that also care. And I think 2009 is like, I think, Tina, it's not a what's it like? It's not canonical. It's like in the director's cut. But I think Tina, if I remember correctly, is in like the Sandy Ryerson Glee Club.

[1:27:37] Nicole: She's in the Stool Choir. Yeah, yeah, yeah.

[1:27:41] Ian Allred: But and then 2009 Mercedes as well.

[1:27:43] Ally: Yeah, so is Mercedes.

[1:27:44] Ian Allred: And then Rachel being like, I'm the only one that was in Sandy Ryerson's Glee Club. I'm like, no, you weren't. Actually, it seems like Kurt reached out to Rachel first, and then it was only her ego that drove him away. And I'm like, no, what? Like what? Why are we doing this, actually? Uh, like what is the point of trying? Rachel's at her best when she's a weird loser who cares so much. Uh, and that is when she's at her most compelling as a character. I think she's at her most compelling as a... My favorite characters are like a top four with Rachel going in between like number five and on my bottom list, because when she's the worst, she's the worst. And it's because the show doesn't acknowledge what they're doing with her versus when she's allowed to be a pseudo villain or like just a person trying to reach for whatever she has.

I think she's so compelling. And I don't know why we have to be like in 2000, in 2009 being like, she just really Mercedes actually didn't need this. Rachel did. Uh, and actually, she was Kurt's friend first and then pushed him away when he tried to do a duet as their audition song. Which why would he do that? That doesn't fit with Kurt's season one personality either. They also make Kurt way meeker in that episode than he ever is in season one of Glee.

[1:29:12] Nicole: Yeah. And Kurt's such a like icy bitch in season one. And I love Kurt so much.

[1:29:19] Ally: Yeah, that's a really good point. I do want to ask.

[1:29:23] Ian Allred: I could talk about 2009 all day, but I do want to ask Nicole, what do you think about Father Figure?

[1:29:33] Nicole: Oh, the song we just listened to? Rather than letting my ADHD just go somewhere else. No, I just don't know. Maybe. I agree with Ian that the episode it's a part of is a fantastic episode. It's such a fun episode. I don't think it really endears me to the song in particular, rather than this is a fun set list. And I like the vibe of the set list as a whole. Yeah, but I don't think the song Father Figure feels like the standout because... I don't know, maybe it's just because it was like tying in the other Sioux plot of that episode. I really like the first song of it. Like, uh, what? Uh, what about? Oh, no. Uh, I think it's a lot of love. Thought we had a love, but it's over now. Yeah, that's like plane is in the elevator is my personal favorite of the set list.

They're all again. They're all doing fun things. I like the manipulating Sioux into like being forced to vote for the New Directions, even if Sioux absolutely could have enjoyed the performance and just lied. I think it's so funny that she does it, that she's like, no, the New Directions are going to lose because I firmly believe on the solid merit of them losing. I will be so compelled because of my... I am a fair judge, first and foremost. We saw that in season one. It's consistent. I just think it's funny.

[1:31:02] Ian Allred: Yeah, I just. Yeah.

[1:31:05] Nicole: Also, I've seen a lot of people saying Father Figure is the best of season six. That's crazy, because as we all should know, the best songs are from the third episode of season six, which is the checkable Atlanta sports.

[1:31:20] Ally: Yeah, yeah, mm hmm.

[1:31:22] Nicole: Like all of despite the fact that that is an episode writing wise, that episode pisses me off in many ways, but song wise best. And I listen to all of those songs repeatedly. They're so good.

[1:31:33] Ian Allred: No, it's great. I think that we're not we. Why have we not acknowledged yet? Noah Guthrie's voice. I feel like we're really skirting past pottery. That's really, really smooth sounding, really easy listening voice. I love the bunch. He's again, he sounds great. I do think one of the conceits you give to Glee just as a whole is that unless there is a like stark exception, like a Candles or a most Puck songs or a in my opinion, most B songs, uh, everybody has a beautiful singing voice that it all becomes like a Noah Guthrie. Fantastic. Jonathan Groff. Fantastic. Amber Riley. Fantastic. That I'm like, hey, yeah, he sounds great.

[1:32:26] Nicole: No. Yeah. Keep going. Keep going.

[1:32:28] Ian Allred: Oh, I just I am a voter based off of this is a we are basing this off the TV show Glee, meaning I want to base it off of the context of the song within the context. I'm not doing this based off of what I stream the most, because sometimes I stream songs that if I'm watching by myself, I might skip in the episode. But I think the vocals are beautiful.

[1:32:51] Nicole: Yeah. And what do you want to say?

[1:32:52] Ian Allred: I will say, no, Guthrie is cooking with a little bit extra sauce. I think like all the brown good vocalists, there is something going on in that man's throat. It is magic to me. And I think that's just like across the board every time he sings, like he just has an absolutely gorgeous voice, I think. Do I say like easy top three male vocalists in the entire show?

[1:33:19] Ally: Oh, yeah, I think he is so young. But I'm saying this, Ian, because of the three people I mentioned, are you saying you sometimes listen to Amber Riley and are like mid?

[1:33:28] Ian Allred: Like, yeah, I mean, like vocally, no, but there are Amber Riley songs that I'm like, I don't love this song. Like she sounds incredible because Amber Riley. But like, yeah, I do as well. But there's just on a pure...

[1:33:39] Nicole: Yeah. Sorry, Noah Guthrie.

[1:33:42] Ian Allred: Where it was like, what was that? Pisses me off so bad that it's like they had Noah Guthrie and Amber Riley on one song together. And they were like, they were like, these are two. They had a God and Jesus on the one track. And they were like, oh, that's all about that bass. You know, I've said it before. My head can and I literally would have loved for. They never did this song, but ain't no mom high enough. A literal duet. Just give it to them.

[1:34:11] Ally: Oh, that would have been.

[1:34:15] Ian Allred: They Fox would have said, this is no longer your last season. Get the writers going. We want to spin on those to keep us going. Spin off of these two characters that have sang this one song and kind of never again. Yeah.

[1:34:30] Nicole: But no, it just came again. I think Noah Guthrie is a phenomenal vocalist. But again, there are like similar to that. There are Amber Riley, Naya Rivera, Jonathan Groff songs that I'm like, you sound gorgeous. I am bored. And that's not the case with Father Figure. But at a certain point, I am taking the whole context of where this stands in the show. And this is a not my favorite in terms of the lineup of a plot I really like.

[1:35:04] Ian Allred: I hate the way this is going.

[1:35:05] Nicole: I don't know. I kind of like this song a lot. I mean, I think it's fine.

[1:35:10] Ian Allred: I'm really fine. And also, I think I'm a banger. I feel like in another performance, I would give them crap for this. But like, I really think it's so funny and endearing. The choreography of taking your mic stand and one by one walking to the front of the stage. I just think it's so fun. And then like when watching the next person be like, OK, now your turn and your turn now, go, go, go ahead. When Sue announces the winners of Invitational, I can't believe I'm saying this because they were literally sitting for one of their songs. I, these two episodes, if you don't like the Hurt Locker part one and two, you don't like me. It's so good. I'm obsessed with these episodes. They're so fucking funny.

[1:35:57] Ally: Goodness sake. Eduardo's pulling up in the chat. We're getting dragged. No shade, but it's song versus song, not episode versus episode or context versus context. I'm not doing episode versus episode, but this is a whole performance. If I am not listen, I we are not putting people that have never seen Glee into this competition for a reason. I'm not bringing my friend Sloan, who has watched ten episodes and said not for me, I'm not doing that.

[1:36:28] Nicole: Do we have anything further to say about Father Figure?

[1:36:32] Ian Allred: I love her. I think she's great. I'm not like I am not like, you know what? Fathers tend to be him. I love him. I think he's great. I'm not like, oh, my gosh, he has to make it to the next round. But dare I say a deserving member of round four? I really, I really love that he made it this far. He's really, really special. I stream. I feel things when I listen to this. And I listen. Yeah, I love season. I love season six. I am glad that a season six number is in round four. I think that is fun. And I'm glad to Hurt Locker contenders in round four. It is a great episode.

[1:37:13] Nicole: I think I'm more making this for the version of me that listened to the last couple episodes and got blindsided. Be like, hey, this is where I'm standing now. It could change. I'm a hypocrite at heart. I'll say one thing and then another song will happen. And I'm like, and I changed my mind. But I do want to bring up that in round five, there is only one season six song. And that was what is it? There's a different song that should have went through. And I forgot to mention it earlier. It's well, the one that did make it is hand in my pocket.

[1:37:46] Ian Allred: I feel the earth move. Yeah, she's gorgeous. And there's another song from that episode that should have went through.

[1:37:51] Nicole: You're talking about will you love me tomorrow? Head over feet. Yes. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Absolutely. Absolutely.

[1:37:57] Ian Allred: Are you ready to see what is again here?

[1:38:00] Nicole: Yeah. More than words, of course.

[1:38:02] Ian Allred: More than words, of course. Let's see. Let's go.

[1:38:04] Ally: Let's go. Bring her up.

[1:38:06] Ian Allred: Oh, these are two. Both of these songs are my babies. I think that they're kind of like twins to me.

[1:38:18] Nicole: Girl and boy.

[1:38:20] Ian Allred: Oh, fraternal, fraternal coming up.

[1:38:22] Nicole: She's mother figure.

[1:38:24] Ian Allred: Mother figure.

[1:38:26] Nicole: Oh, found her.

[1:38:28] Ian Allred: Founder.

[1:38:29] Nicole: Sure. Screen.

[1:38:31] Ian Allred: I was so worried.

[1:38:32] Nicole: Don't worry, guys. I found her.

[1:38:35] Ian Allred: Do you know what this is from the screen grab?

[1:38:39] Nicole: Oh, I mean, I can tell that it's Carl and Emma and I feel silly. Is this dog's day or dog days are over?

[1:38:45] Ian Allred: It is dog days over. Yes.

[1:38:47] Nicole: Oh, girl. Yeah.

[1:38:49] Ian Allred: Oh, yeah. But OK, so I said previously that to start with, love could win the glock. It might be it might be between these two girls for me. I love you so gorgeous. She's so great.

[1:39:04] Nicole: Oh, my God. You got to love a song where Glee Club having a banger of a time. Yes. Other people are like going through vignettes, having the worst time, having like a yeah, like like a calendar.

[1:39:21] Ian Allred: Yeah. Yeah.

[1:39:22] Nicole: Emma is like, oh, I made a mistake getting married twice. I guess she didn't technically end up fully marrying Ken, but still. Bad girl.

[1:39:31] Ian Allred: I do. It does take me out how quick she gets the new placard that says she's overcompensating.

[1:39:41] Nicole: Yeah, she's. Yeah.

[1:39:42] Ian Allred: Oh, yeah. Maybe the lady doesn't have too much.

[1:39:45] Nicole: Yeah. Yeah. I got to let these hoes know I'm off the market.

[1:39:47] Ian Allred: Yeah, I absolutely would believe Emma makes her own placards. Like that just seems like a hobby she would have.

[1:39:55] Nicole: Yeah. Yeah. But like that will look at a little sad. Rachel taken down the cat calendar. That looking at the bird at Pavarotti. Kurt looking at Pavarotti. Uh, if they had sung this at sectionals instead of time of my life, it would not have been a tie.

[1:40:16] Ian Allred: Who said that in the chat? Someone said that.

[1:40:21] Nicole: Did someone I typed that while I was watching the video? And did someone say that?

[1:40:25] Ian Allred: Oh, wait, did you say that in the chat?

[1:40:28] Nicole: No, no, no. I didn't say in the chat. I typed it in my phone so I could.

[1:40:32] Nicole: Ari said that in the chat. They could have won sectionals.

[1:40:35] Ian Allred: Okay, Ari, you get it. Ari, you get it.

[1:40:38] Nicole: Ari and Ada.

[1:40:39] Ian Allred: You get it. This number rules. And it has pissed me off for 16 years that they start this episode with Emma being like, you know, Will, you keep giving the same solos to the same people. I think maybe we should branch out more. And watching this episode, I was like, oh my god, Tina's gonna sing at sectionals.

[1:41:01] Nicole: And then Tina doesn't sing at sectionals. Guys, get ready. I don't know if y'all are ready. And I'm glad. I'm glad that she still gets this number in the episode. And honestly, it's like the closer for kind of the, it's like the fall finale, because obviously Christmas is after, but like, this is like the fall finale. So yeah, it is a big moment, but I'm still bitter she didn't sing at sectionals.

[1:41:21] Ian Allred: My hot take is, you said that if they had sung this, they would have won sectionals.

[1:41:26] Nicole: Mm hmm.

[1:41:26] Ian Allred: In what world was Valerie, and if you don't like Time of My Life, that's fine. It's a, like, serviceable song. In what world are those two songs the same level as Hey, Soul Sister? I can't, I don't know what the choice was there. It's crazy.

[1:41:47] Nicole: It's the idea. There's such an easy fix to this that doesn't involve a tie, which is have, like, they're expecting a layup at sectionals because they had a layup at, like, they should have, if there wasn't cheating involved, they had a layup at sectionals last year.

[1:42:03] Ian Allred: Oh, that's interesting.

[1:42:08] Nicole: Have them already looking towards their regional competition, and have that be the reason Kurt goes to Dalton. If you have to have almost everything the same, and have the Dalton competition the same day you have, like, and just now Kurt can't be there.

[1:42:22] Ian Allred: Because it is also silly that he transfers the episode before. Like, I felt like there should have been more buildup to, like, oh my gosh, he's on the opposing team. It is, like, the very end of the episode prior that he's like, oh, surprise, I'm your competition tomorrow morning.

[1:42:38] Nicole: In the episode, yeah. In the episode, the only thing that it services is Rachel realizing that Finn and Santana slept together, which there's already a Kurt and Rachel scene in this episode. Just have that conversation happen earlier in the episode.

[1:42:58] Ian Allred: Like, it's, I hate Dalton. There's nothing-

[1:43:03] Nicole: I need you in the writer's room for the Gleeboot.

[1:43:06] Ian Allred: I hate Dalton. I-

[1:43:10] Nicole: Everything I dislike about season two, I've said it before, I'll say it again, all the queer storylines go to a halt until Kurt goes back to, like, until Clayne gets together. I guess there's a will they, won't they between Clayne, but, like, Santana, we stop her, like, storyline because we're doing Brittany and Artie for a while. We're just gonna focus on straight, like, the Rachel, Quinn, Finn, Sam dynamic for a while until Clayne happens and then the storyline starts again.

[1:43:42] Ian Allred: I mean, I feel like Santana's, like, Santana and Brittany don't date, but Santana's telling Rachel that she slept with Finn is very much motivated by Brittany dating Artie.

[1:43:55] Nicole: Oh, I-

[1:43:57] Ian Allred: And we got a landslide during the Dalton era.

[1:44:00] Nicole: Yeah, again, that's why I said, like, essentially, I guess, I guess sexy is before, but it's essentially like, oh, Blaine goes to Burt and said, you need to talk to your son about sex. I'm gonna date him next episode. He should really know about sex for when I date him next episode.

[1:44:11] Nicole: For when I date him, yeah.

[1:44:20] Ian Allred: I'm just, yeah.

[1:44:21] Nicole: Ian, I do, I do need to reel you back in a little bit about-

[1:44:25] Ian Allred: Oh, yes, yes, yes.

[1:44:26] Nicole: The dog days are over of it all. What do we, what do we have to say about dog days are over?

[1:44:31] Ian Allred: I wish Tina and Mercedes sang more plot relevant songs to both of them. This isn't that, but I'll take it.

[1:44:38] Nicole: Yeah.

[1:44:40] Ian Allred: I'll take it. I think they sound fucking gorgeous on this song. I just, every time Tina and Mercedes sang, I am like, man, and I'd love if this connected to a storyline you were going through. I really wish I was watching you do things.

[1:44:56] Nicole: There's a fake spoiler for New Directions in season five, where they were like, because they were like doing, they were redoing all the songs. And there was a fake spoiler that Tina and Mercedes were gonna do their own rendition of Landslide. And I was like, hell yeah.

[1:45:15] Ian Allred: Ooh.

[1:45:16] Nicole: Hell yeah. I don't know why they would be singing that, but sure.

[1:45:22] Ian Allred: Time for their queer art. Let's do it. Okay.

[1:45:26] Nicole: If you told me Tina was secretly queer, I'd believe you.

[1:45:30] Ian Allred: Well, I mean, she auditioned with Guy Kissed a Girl.

[1:45:32] Nicole: Yeah.

[1:45:32] Ian Allred: Where they are like going, right? They were, they were probably going in that direction, but then changed their mind.

[1:45:39] Nicole: It also would have been problematic as hell. But the idea of, because Tina's being written off the show after that, like in season five after that, the idea of Tina being like, and I've actually been a lesbian the whole time. Anyway, bye.

[1:45:56] Ian Allred: Bye.

[1:45:58] Nicole: Well, that is the way that Tina is like, oh, and by the way, I'm adopted and Jewish. Okay, bye.

[1:46:07] Ian Allred: That's so funny. And like her like, literally final episode of like being part of the show.

[1:46:14] Nicole: To just drop that bomb and just be like, bye. I've been on the show for four and a half years. You've never learned this about me.

[1:46:20] Ian Allred: Anyways, I'll see you like once a season from now on. Bye.

[1:46:23] Nicole: You know what would have been the funniest way to go?

[1:46:23] Ian Allred: Funniest way to go was have her have that revelation in the new direction.

[1:46:26] Nicole: Yeah. New directions. Have us not see Tina for the rest of season five. I know she comes back in the Rachel episode. Don't have that happen. Instead, in season six, have her and Quinn be overly touchy and overly like, just like clearly in the background being like, hey, so what's happening there? In a background scene, have them full make out, never acknowledge it.

[1:46:51] Ian Allred: Never have a single character.

[1:46:57] Nicole: Like they have the duet that they have that gets again, you can only interrupt songs if it's involving Tina. They have their duet that gets interrupted in the middle.

[1:47:08] Ian Allred: Yeah, yeah. What's their ship name?

[1:47:11] Nicole: Queena.

[1:47:14] Ian Allred: I love.

[1:47:16] Nicole: Yes. Oh, Quintina.

[1:47:17] Ian Allred: Obviously.

[1:47:18] Nicole: Quintina.

[1:47:19] Ian Allred: Quintina, come on.

[1:47:21] Nicole: The names next to each other.

[1:47:23] Ian Allred: Names next to each other sound good. So we'll go full names for both of them.

[1:47:27] Nicole: Coen Bray.

[1:47:28] Ian Allred: Coen Bray. That's fun. Dog days are over. Really, really, really special to me. I really love Tina's outfit in this.

[1:47:36] Nicole: Gorgeous.

[1:47:37] Ian Allred: And I really like, it's, it's not a good, who am I to talk, but it's not a good outfit, but Mercedes, you look like, you look like a high school student.

[1:47:48] Nicole: She does.

[1:47:49] Ian Allred: She does.

[1:47:50] Nicole: That I'm like, not a great fit, but I know a girl that, that dresses exactly like that. And she's 16 years old.

[1:47:55] Ian Allred: Yeah.

[1:47:59] Nicole: The season two styling is I think my favorite overall styling for the characters outfits.

[1:48:04] Ian Allred: Yeah, no, it's great.

[1:48:06] Nicole: Yeah. I love Tina's steampunk dress in this, like in this, say what you want about Mercedes fashion sense for somebody who's meant to be a fashionista. She seems like she is dressed like a high schooler, like a realistic high schooler the whole time. And I think that's fun. I also love when we get post Cheerios, like the outfits for the unholy Trinity, like season two styling is just so, so fun.

[1:48:32] Ian Allred: And we're cooking.

[1:48:33] Nicole: Yeah.

[1:48:33] Ian Allred: Yeah. Tina's dress in this is gorgeous.

[1:48:36] Nicole: Really, really pretty. And I love the, the cut to the Rachel mellow drama of like the cat calendar. It's like, that's really pulling a lot of weight for me that like, I just like, I just think it's so the, I, the fact that we all laughed when that like popped up, that it's like, it's so ridiculous. It's so pathetic that it's like, it's.

[1:48:58] Ian Allred: I need to see every month.

[1:49:00] Nicole: Like her, I need to see every month, but her throwing away forever. I'm just like, just real, there's a lot here that I really am obsessed with.

[1:49:10] Ian Allred: I just, I like a number where it's like, oh, I believe these kids are friends and that they're having fun together. There is so, and it makes sense. This is not for a competition. This is not a rehearsal. This is literally them celebrating. I like that it is loosey goosey. It's like, everyone just like kind of go nuts, do whatever you want. That is really, really fun to me.

[1:49:30] Nicole: A lot of beauty happening in the background of this song. Also, I have a question. This is a Mercedes, Tina duet. They are the two vocals on the track. So why the hell is Rachel lip syncing for her life during the end? Did anyone else see that during the final note? She is doing the classic like I squeeze shut belting fist on her chest. Mary, you're not singing.

[1:49:56] Ian Allred: That she was actually singing and she went into the studio. Adam removed her from the track and she was like, and that was what they listened to on the playback.

[1:50:07] Nicole: They listened to the Rachel edit.

[1:50:07] Ian Allred: Yeah. Leah walked on set. It was like, I'm singing this right. And Zach was like, fucking sure. I don't care. I got like, is that what you want? You're so close to being on winter hiatus. Like what? Do whatever you want. I just need a break.

[1:50:26] Nicole: Correct me if I'm wrong. The context of this song, like right before it happens is Mr. Schuester's like, and I want to give a special shout out to the team player for this sectionals. Rachel, you can have the end song number. And because of the like Finchel breakup, she's like, actually give it to people that actually fit the theme for this.

[1:50:46] Ian Allred: And it goes to Tina and Mercedes as well. I like to imagine in her full melodrama, Rachel was still like, I'm not singing. I'm going to everybody's actually singing in the glee club. I'm going to personally lip sync as if like to Mercedes and Tina's vocals as if it was me.

[1:51:04] Nicole: She's having misgivings about her earlier.

[1:51:08] Ian Allred: Altruism.

[1:51:09] Nicole: I made a big mistake.

[1:51:08] Ian Allred: Yeah, I made a big mistake. I just took down the cat calendar.

[1:51:19] Nicole: I need the dog days to be over, actually.

[1:51:19] Ian Allred: Yeah, I need these dog days to be over.

[1:51:24] Ian Allred: Oh, I was just gonna say everybody. She actually tried to get the duet back into a solo and everybody said, fuck you. Absolutely not.

[1:51:30] Nicole: Yeah. And Ari is making a Nicole finish.

[1:51:36] Nicole: Absolutely not. It was like right before they got on stage and she's like, hey, Tina, can I just switch places with you? And technically, Mr. Schuester did give it to me. So I don't know. I think that I should be able to get the song.

[1:51:49] Ian Allred: Yeah. And like when that was told, no, she was like, OK, but have you thought about a trio?

[1:51:55] Nicole: Have you thought about like, this is a trio? I don't really like the choices that you're making with this song.

[1:52:03] Ian Allred: Maybe a lot of professionals will take it over.

[1:52:03] Nicole: Yeah.

[1:52:04] Ian Allred: Wait, Ian, you wanted to say something?

[1:52:10] Nicole: Ari's making a great point in the chat, which is I mentioned earlier that like Glee to Me is about wins and losses and how losses are more frequent, but you can still find joy in them. And this number is so great because this is a win. They're going to regionals and hooray, but it is interspersed with a ton of losses. It is Emma in a relationship she's unsure about, it's Will being lonely, it's Finchel having just broken up. And like that joy and sadness residing in the same number, as Ari was saying, so fucking good. Like that's what made the show so special.

[1:52:42] Nicole: Yeah, it's great. I like these characters going through truly the worst times ever.

[1:52:49] Ian Allred: It's so fun.

[1:52:50] Nicole: Yeah.

[1:52:51] Ian Allred: I just.

[1:52:49] Nicole: Yeah, it's so fun. Do we do we feel ready to vote?

[1:52:59] Ian Allred: Girl, I was ready to vote much love the second you said the title of the second song.

[1:53:06] Nicole: Ian, are you ready to vote?

[1:53:10] Ian Allred: Yes, absolutely. Wait, what's the hesitation?

[1:53:13] Nicole: No, absolutely not. I just there's no hesitation.

[1:53:17] Ian Allred: Changing your mind about father figure.

[1:53:17] Nicole: Yeah. Yeah. I'm just really trying to like push myself into the mindset where suddenly I'm the biggest defender of father figure.

[1:53:27] Ian Allred: Um, and can you reach out?

[1:53:29] Nicole: Yeah, no, it hasn't happened. Dog Days are over is so fucking beautiful to me. And, uh, yeah, I want I want to see her do good things.

[1:53:40] Ian Allred: It should have been in the it should have been the movie.

[1:53:40] Nicole: Yes. Cut from the movie. Cut from my life.

[1:53:46] Ian Allred: Yeah.

[1:53:46] Nicole: With your solidifying what's vote for Dog Days are over, Nicole?

[1:53:53] Ian Allred: Oh, absolutely.

[1:53:53] Nicole: Yeah. Yeah. And it's frankly, I don't have to think very hard about it. But I do feel bad. I feel like we did not give enough praise to father figure because like, girl, it is good. It is good. He sounds good. I love those kids so much. I'm a big defender of the season six newbies. And a lot of things when I was like trying to come up with what I think they should do in the Glee boot, frankly, a lot of the ideas I had, I was like, that's actually what they did in season six. They just didn't execute it to the extent they should have enough time with those characters.

[1:54:34] Ian Allred: Yeah.

[1:54:34] Nicole: I loved like a disgraced Rachel. I loved the newbies dynamic with each other. I loved Will being on the opposing team. He got into it. Fun. Yes, there was. It was all really excellent. And they just did a speed run of everything instead of like really letting it develop.

[1:54:50] Ian Allred: Plane being broken up in season six is the correct.

[1:54:55] Ian Allred: But has led to I think the decimation of the claim fandom because it's hard to name like a it is hard to say like that. This is a great fantastic ship when they have broken up like three times, blame cheated, Kurt called off the wedding. Like not looking good. We're gonna Britney's gonna force Kurt into getting married to Blaine later on in this season and we're gonna get mad at and the fandom is gonna get mad at Kurt for it. So I don't know. I don't know the clean treatment of season six is crazy. But um, I even like to say explain it's just crazy that we're like, this is the main couple. This is now the main couple of the show because oh, yeah, Joel like Finchel's not available and neither Naya Rivera or Heather Morris are main cast members. So the only thing that's left is that's like things we know you guys are rooting for is claim.

[1:55:58] Ian Allred: Yeah, well, one of the reasons I fucking love the Hurt Locker so much is it feels so much to me like the writers going, listen, we don't like these characters together anymore. Not so much like we don't think they're a good couple but like we want to develop them individually as people. But you guys are so insane about this that we give up like we surrender. We will make them endgame because you guys won't be quiet about it. And I think it's so funny but all this to say father figure love you down, but it is and always will be dog days feel tempted to give father figure a pity vote because like it's really really special and I'm really glad I think the win was father for you're making it this far.

I like I think it's really incredible that this season six song sung by a character that is in all of 11 episodes that like with not too much to do has made it this far really great. I don't think that I could fully bring myself to do a pity vote though. Dog days are over literally it's so good could make it to the very very end for me. I think it's really really special. It's what Glee is about. I think that it's maybe without looking at a list my favorite Jenna vocal. It's just this is the version of the song for me so dog days are over you have all three all three votes.

[1:57:25] Andrew: I got a very important question for you based off of you saying this could potentially win the glacket if this had been pulled instead of touch a touch touch me if we had a very if we had father figure versus touch a touch touch me and it was the Adele matchup and dog days are over.

[1:57:46] Ian Allred: I know I know Ian's answer because easy on both cops easy on both.

[1:57:53] Andrew: Switching you're switching. So it's rumor has it someone like you versus dog days are over. Yeah, I want to hear your answer based off of you saying this could potentially win your glacket.

[1:58:04] Ian Allred: I think that I'm just like all about like I off the top of my head right now. I think I'm going for dog days are over. It's all about camaraderie for me. I think it's really really sweet.

[1:58:17] Nicole: Ian again left in love. Um, I I think it's just like that's that's what it is. Whereas like rumor has someone like you was like very oh great obviously we it's going through for a reason, but it's also just like kind of like one stroke of like feeling whereas dog days are over has multiple emotions all in one performance.

[1:58:43] Ian Allred: What do you what do you what are you you're responding loudly without saying anything? I understand everything that you said I still like obviously like Adele more because it's my personal preference. I understand everything you said except for saying that Adele mashup is one stroke of emotion because what is so beautiful about that number to me is the dichotomy of romantic beautiful song and in this moment, I am heartbroken. Yeah, I'm having to be on stage and perform when all I want to do is run and hide and like all four of those emotions are like fighting each other the entire time and that is I understand that dog days has like we're really really happy. I know we're really really sad. But um, yeah, I just love Adele mashup.

Like there is it is not just like in Santana is she's sad like there is inner turmoil the entire time and there is that weird like I'm singing a love song about Britney, but also the fact that I love Britney is about to ruin my entire life.

[1:59:40] Ian Allred: Well, it's the best.

[1:59:42] Nicole: Father figure clears touchy-touchy touch me and you can write that into law.

[1:59:48] Ian Allred: Father for you versus touchy-touchy touch me is really interesting. I actually don't know. I don't know what I would do because we're looking at the two best vocalists of this show. Noah Guthrie and Jaima Mays, and I'm glad someone said it.

[2:00:03] Nicole: And so I really I honestly don't know what I would do. I think I would actually I would probably.

[2:00:10] Andrew: Yeah.

[2:00:12] Nicole: Father figure.

[2:00:14] Ian Allred: Father figure loses to all three songs plus one.

[2:00:19] Nicole: Father figure loses to all three songs tonight, and I do think that's a little funny.

[2:00:27] Ian Allred: No, you guys don't get it. You don't get it. I listen father figure, can we like let's actually before we before we end father figure let's do a recap of all the songs that father figure has taken out. I don't know how to love him in round one.

[2:00:45] Nicole: Um, in round two.

[2:00:47] Ian Allred: Father underrated Tina I will say I do I do like it. I put it on a playlist recently and I am now it might be my favorite Tina solo. I'm really I put it on my D&D character's playlist and I've so I've been listening to it a lot and I tried to just for like the sake of my friends. I tried to see if there's another version of that song I liked better. Yeah, because it was a song I had not previously heard. I straight up looked at every other version I could find on YouTube and I'm like no Tina's Tina's eating on this.

[2:01:23] Nicole: Including the Miss Piggy version.

[2:01:23] Ian Allred: I didn't find the mistake.

[2:01:31] Nicole: I didn't actually there is an album on YouTube called Muppet Christ Superstar.

[2:01:31] Ian Allred: Oh my god.

[2:01:39] Nicole: It's not the actual Henson company but it is someone doing impressions of all the muppets and they sing the whole show. That's great.

[2:01:44] Ian Allred: And you better believe Miss Piggy is Mary Magdalene.

[2:01:47] Nicole: Hell yeah. Father figure in round two one against suddenly Seymour which yeah.

[2:01:54] Ian Allred: Right. Oh the of course of course and then in round three this was hard for me father figure one against jar of hearts. Mr. Bad. Yeah, that's trickier. But yeah, I think.

[2:02:08] Nicole: Um.

[2:02:09] Ian Allred: Nicole it's always it's always something when you come on you have so much to say.

[2:02:15] Nicole: I you have reached me now where I'm like at the end of the day and I'm like so tired but I I just like I'm so sorry if I'm just dragging you down with that.

[2:02:24] Ian Allred: No, you are completely fine. I just don't know if I always have the energy to fully kind of like communicate how much I really appreciate everything that you bring into the conversation that I'm like, how can I possibly match her energy?

[2:02:44] Nicole: Thank you so much. You're incredible so much for having me and um, you'll be back and wait was this a better competition for you?

[2:02:50] Ian Allred: I? Here's the thing we still want something. It was so easy for me to pick it was so easy for me to pick and none of these are like none of these are winner of my blacket.

[2:03:06] Nicole: Okay, uh.

[2:03:08] Ian Allred: There's yeah, none of these are like neither of these were winner of my blacket I just want a song that makes me personally sweat and that gets people mad at me and I have yet to have that on any of the competition shows I've been on.

[2:03:22] Nicole: Yeah, I don't think that people are gonna be mad about this one.

[2:03:22] Ian Allred: No, I don't think so either. Father figureheads are coming for you. Get ready. It's gonna be father's day.

[2:03:33] Nicole: Listen, maybe one day I'll just say I'm actually shocked. I didn't get more pushback last time I was here and I said I hated Britney. Uh, I like I'm shocked. I'm shocked. I didn't get pushback for that actually. Uh, but yeah, I've yet to say anything that gives me pushback and I want the I want the animosity I want people to engage with me. I want people to try to give me good arguments I want to fight.

[2:03:57] Ian Allred: You want to fight. Yeah. Um, well, you're in the right place. Thank you so much. Nicole until next time have me back. Whatever.

[2:04:06] Nicole: Bye.

[2:04:07] Ian Allred: Um, okay in recap for this episode, so my brain is like working at maybe like 10 capacity right now. Um, so let's see if I what I can do with this rumor has someone like you I feel like I do this every single damn round so let me know if there's something better than this rumor has it someone like you is moving on to the next round.

[2:04:27] Nicole: I think that is so good that it's kind of never going to be topped.

[2:04:31] Ian Allred: Okay. Okay. Um, I hate to say it that is gold.

[2:04:38] Nicole: That okay. Now you're now you're doing too much. I'm not kidding.

[2:04:43] Ian Allred: Um touch touch me.

[2:04:48] Nicole: Someone in the chat did pitch one for this wait, what was the what was which was you're not touching touching round five.

[2:04:54] Ian Allred: That's it.

[2:04:56] Nicole: That is okay. Yeah, it was Kate. Um, thank you so much Kate father figure.

[2:05:03] Ian Allred: Father.

[2:05:04] Nicole: Father figure it out. I don't know father figure.

[2:05:09] Ian Allred: You're an absent father.

[2:05:10] Nicole: Absent father. Is there anything there there? There's something there.

[2:05:17] Ian Allred: Huh.

[2:05:20] Nicole: Wheels are turning.

[2:05:22] Ian Allred: I'm finding it finding it finding it.

[2:05:25] Nicole: Um when we get to the next round I will be the one to love you till the end of round four.

[2:05:31] Ian Allred: There we go. Then it's over. That was not very good. But okay.

[2:05:35] Nicole: Also, I'd like to take a moment to say that was the last of the season six newbies on the glacket.

[2:05:40] Ian Allred: I love you down bad each and every one of you.

[2:05:40] Nicole: Um, do you have any others to disprove me?

[2:05:47] Ian Allred: No, I think that you're right. Um, it's just shocking to kind of be met with that.

[2:05:53] Nicole: I think if I'm not wrong, are there any other season six songs yet to be pulled have I done?

[2:06:00] Ian Allred: Let me look at the playlist. Have we done all the season six songs?

[2:06:04] Nicole: Is like definitively the best season six song.

[2:06:08] Ian Allred: I feel the earth move.

[2:06:10] Nicole: Um, kind of my pocket.

[2:06:12] Ian Allred: No, because it's home. Um, but you know, it is what it is.

[2:06:17] Nicole: But I believe that is a rap.

[2:06:23] Ian Allred: Wow.

[2:06:25] Nicole: Season six newbies gone gone gone season six only one song left, which is already the next round.

[2:06:32] Ian Allred: That's really crazy for me to actually receive that information right now.

[2:06:38] Nicole: Season six has bangers. I don't know what happened. There are bangers.

[2:06:43] Ian Allred: Anyone ever heard problem glee cast version by glee cast we're done.

[2:06:47] Nicole: Wait, no, but genuinely season six has bangers. We didn't do dog dizzer over.

[2:06:52] Ian Allred: Uh.

[2:06:53] Nicole: Because they aren't over they're continuing in round five and you better run.

[2:06:53] Ian Allred: You better run.

[2:07:02] Nicole: You better run to round five, um, and what do you need to say to everybody including myself.

[2:07:11] Ian Allred: Um, I need to say that I'm so glad to be here I had a great time. Thank you gleeks for having me back. Thank you Andrew for having me back. I just love talking about this damn show and the gleeboot is net positive. Everyone get excited if people are looking for shows to watch, uh in the meantime and especially shows that almost got rebooted and then the reboot got cancelled.

[2:07:36] Nicole: Yeah a fate that I hope does not happen to glee you should watch probably the vampire slayer it's a very good show.

[2:07:41] Ian Allred: It's maybe the best, uh teen show ever made.

[2:07:44] Nicole: Uh, and I have a podcast about it called slay queer buffy podcast, which you can find anywhere, and you just launched.

[2:07:51] Ian Allred: Yeah.

[2:07:51] Nicole: Patron exclusive.

[2:07:54] Ian Allred: We are doing uh, so buffy after the first three seasons they did a spinoff show that then ran alongside buffy for the rest of its run about one of the characters on buffy who like moves to a different city.

[2:08:06] Nicole: Uh, and we are covering that on our patreon.

[2:08:09] Ian Allred: So our episodes on buffy are public to everyone and then our episodes on angel in our side podcast called slain joel are on our patreon?

[2:08:18] Nicole: So if you are an angel head you can subscribe to our patreon and hear our thoughts on even if you're not an angel head if you're just an Ian head I think that you should support them but I'm like just go over there.

[2:08:31] Ian Allred: Um, okay. Well, thank you so much for listening until next week we're really almost at the end of this round if you can believe it this cup.

[2:08:39] Nicole: I don't know if you can see that looking real light.

[2:08:43] Ian Allred: Um, yeah, man, that's crazy.

[2:08:45] Nicole: So I'm looking at how will I know I'm looking at I feel pretty I'm pretty.

[2:08:49] Ian Allred: Oh, damn. Whoa.

[2:08:52] Nicole: This was a weirdly easy episode considering what's left.

[2:08:57] Ian Allred: Well, I think that like I we needed a little break. I think that we have three episodes in a row that was yeah.

[2:09:04] Nicole: Um, okay. So maybe next week we'll be back to being really crazy again.

[2:09:09] Ian Allred: Um, okay until then it's click click of the week.
