I still think it's great. Now. I love the Naya Amber, Jenna combo, really great, really fun, not something that they would really get paired together often at all. So I just have nothing but really good things to say about like the vocals, the arrangement, I think the context of it may end up being its downfall at some point in the glacket. [1:32:40] Patrick Sammon: I miss I Lived a lot, actually, and sometimes I'm like, why didn't I just vote it through or try to vote it through? But I feel like I knew kind of what the stronger song was, and Teenage Dream is really good.

[1:32:56] Daneilla: I think I Lived just means something more to me than Teenage Dream does, like on a personal level, versus like what the better song actually is. But I miss I Lived a lot.

[1:33:06] Stephanie: I miss I Lived too.

[1:33:08] Patrick Sammon: I Lived is very fun.

[1:33:09] Daneilla: It's really good.

[1:33:10] Patrick Sammon: I mean, I Lived was a harder competition to me than this is.

[1:33:14] Stephanie: I would agree.

[1:33:15] Daneilla: I would agree.

[1:33:16] Patrick Sammon: I think that we also said, or at least I did, that like, this is just so iconic, and this is one where, even though this one and Don't Stop Believing are kind of like, overdone to the, they're like so iconic, but they're like so overdone. I feel like this is a song where, whether or not it's one of my favourites, because this really isn't, I feel an obligation to the gleeks to do right by it, which I don't feel about most songs. I would only feel that really about this song, about Don't Stop Believing.

[1:33:56] Stephanie: I think that's it.

[1:33:58] Patrick Sammon: I know. That's really interesting, because I can't really, it's going to come to me later, but what other song is kind of at that level?

[1:34:06] Daneilla: Teenage Dream, Don't Stop Believing. What else are we saying?

[1:34:10] Stephanie: I mean, there's a lot of other songs that are really, really top tier, but I feel like are repeat hits for me, where sometimes songs like this, like Don't Stop Believing or Teenage Dream, is at that overplayed level where I'm like, okay, I'm over it. I need a break from it, where there's other top tier songs that I could keep that I'm not tired of, or I'm not as tired of as those two.

[1:34:38] Patrick Sammon: Kind of like, would Valerie be in that group as well?

[1:34:44] Stephanie: Sorry, you go, Stephanie.

[1:34:46] Daneilla: Valerie, I don't know.

[1:34:48] Stephanie: In a way, it kind of makes you think of the songs that kind of come back later, like when they do the 100, or when they're all back together, and they sing Valerie again, or Teenage Dream came back again in season four. I think it's when they're like repeated songs. I think that's when they start to become like, we've heard Don't Stop Believing like six times at the end of its run. So like, but there's others. Or like One Hit Wonders. When a song would reach the non-Greece, I feel like I just feel differently about it.

[1:35:27] Patrick Sammon: To be honest, if there's any other songs that fit this category to me, it's We Are Young. Because that song, like literally, people who had stopped watching Glee and didn't like Glee, like genuinely pay attention at that moment. I also think, and this is one that died earlier this round, and I really, really, really disagreed with it, is Baby It's Cold Outside. I think that's the one where it like, it touched, it like left the Glee universe and like people paid attention and talked about it. But Don't Stop Believing and this song, I think were, people were paying attention because they thought it was just so excellent and like different. The other ones were more like culturally significant at the time.

[1:36:21] Stephanie: Well, I think that like, what I was saying earlier about like the Just The Way You Are, that they took a very popular song at the time and integrated it into the storyline in an extremely natural way where it didn't feel hemmed in. But I think that this also really worked. Because I remember like that summer, 2010, you, like every other song, if not every song, was like just Katy back to back to back.

[1:36:48] Patrick Sammon: Katy or Gaga, yeah.

[1:36:51] Stephanie: Are you a Katy or a Gaga?

[1:36:53] Patrick Sammon: Um, and I just like this song, they, they like Teenage Dream, they had like, they had fun with the arrangement, of course. And I feel like they've talked about it, where like Adam Anders or like people on the music team, like talked about like, how like, this was like, a real like, sell that it was like, okay, we need to like show that we can we can handle this group with this song. And then they obviously went on to do a lot of other songs with the Warblers and everything. But yeah.

[1:37:26] Daneilla: I mean, like for better or worse, it like changed greatly.

[1:37:29] Patrick Sammon: And yeah, I know for better.

[1:37:33] Daneilla: I think it's so it's great.

[1:37:34] Patrick Sammon: Yeah, for better, of course.

[1:37:36] Stephanie: Yeah, I mean, definitely catches everyone's attention. And I mean, I can remember when that first when the song first came out. And I mean, everybody was so excited. And there was this brand new character and kind of bringing someone in kind of for Kurt.

[1:37:48] Daneilla: Yeah, the plot was changing.

[1:37:50] Patrick Sammon: And, um, yeah, they brought in Blaine, who never went away after this.

[1:37:55] Stephanie: Right.

[1:37:56] Patrick Sammon: No, we could talk about that.

[1:37:58] Daneilla: But we won't because this was my debut.

[1:38:01] Patrick Sammon: That was really iconic.

[1:38:02] Daneilla: And I don't know, like, it's, I've talked about this on the podcast before, but those songs that are referencing kind of like the ones that broke out of Glee, like I would yeah, I would consider Valerie and definitely a doll mashup. Someone in chat said that like, it is those those songs too. It's like, how do like, at what point in the glacket do we do we say goodbye to these? Because like, to me, respect needs to be paid to this song. But like, it's not really my favorite. And I can't think it's like a ton of people's like, favorite, but it's up there for a lot of people.

[1:38:47] Patrick Sammon: So when is it when is it gonna be okay to say goodbye to Teenage Dream and Don't Stop Believing and stuff like that? I don't know. But yeah, I don't it's Don't Stop Believing solidified in round four. We'll cross that bridge when we get to it. I think I feel pretty certain about what's going to happen to Teenage Dream today. It is a Jider duet when I think that they could have thrown in more voices in there. And I would have loved to hear Alex Newell on the track. I would have loved to hear Melissa, Jenna and like literally let's just get the entire gang on the track. Why? Why these two? That seemed like such a specifically wrong choice to me personally. So I'm voting for Teenage Dream season two. I'm dismayed because I can't say I wouldn't be against being here and killing the song because like I like for example, if like this was against four minutes, I would put four minutes through, you know, like I don't I don't care so much about the song.

Yeah, but this song deserves its flowers over Closer and I lived but there are lots of songs that could have beaten it and the fact that I was here twice and maybe could have seen it through because what I don't want to happen is like Teenage Dream wins the Glackett and I'm like, well, yeah, not winning. It's not the winner of the Glackett. I don't think it's right to vote for Closer over this even though I enjoy Closer but like, dang, like if there was like a just a slightly better song, maybe we'd be having a different conversation but Teenage Dream lives to see another round.
