[0:00] Andrew: We've got a mission to find the best song that's ever been on Glee.
[0:09] Andrew: There's no rhyme or reason to it, so don't get mad at me.
[0:18] Andrew: Gleek it by Gleek it, we'll rank everyone to see which song will move closer to spot number one.
[0:26] Andrew: Gleek of the Week, Gleek, Gleek, Gleek of the Week, it's Gleek, Gleek of the Week.
[0:36] Andrew: I don't even know if that was timed up, but anyway, hey, pairing debut, pairing debut.
[0:46] Andrew: I'm here with Allyson Alamode and Suzy Pepper, aka Patrick.
[0:51] Patrick: Hey.
[0:52] Allyson: Yes.
[0:53] Patrick: Yay.
[0:54] Allyson: Hi.
[0:55] Patrick: Hey.
[0:56] Allyson: Hi.
[0:57] Andrew: A little late night recording.
[0:59] Andrew: I just had a sleepy day all day and I'm still a little sleepy still, but I'm hoping that this recording will wake me the fuck up.
[1:06] Allyson: Okay.
[1:07] Patrick: I hope so too.
[1:10] Andrew: And Allyson Alamode, you just got back from Hairspray?
[1:13] Allyson: I did just get back from Hairspray at San Francisco Playhouse because my friend is the understudy and she just found out last night that she was going on today for the matinee, and so immediately I got the last ticket and rushed over, but she had to do a talk back.
[1:30] Allyson: I guess that's a thing, they do youth, teenage talk back after the show, and I was trying to stage door my friend, but I was like, I have some Gleeking to do, so unfortunately I did have to leave.
[1:41] Allyson: But we FaceTimed after.
[1:43] Patrick: So it's okay.
[1:44] Allyson: Fuck them kids.
[1:45] Patrick: Fuck them kids.
[1:46] Allyson: Fuck.
[1:47] Patrick: No, say it louder and you should.
[1:50] Allyson: Seriously.
[1:51] Andrew: Wait, so how do we do episodes now?
[1:55] Allyson: How do we do episodes ever?
[1:58] Andrew: Who wants to do Galactic Grievances?
[2:00] Allyson: Okay, so in the last episode, your kind of baby girl, your winner of your Galactic went home?
[2:07] Patrick: Oh my, and like, it was just one of those, okay, so I did message you guys because I was catching up, obviously, because we were recording like yesterday, the next day.
[2:18] Allyson: And so you, I'm listening to it and like, obviously ain't no way I want like, am I saying that without looking at a list that it may be my favorite Mercedes like solo?
[2:31] Patrick: Maybe.
[2:32] Allyson: Without looking at a list.
[2:33] Patrick: Ain't no way.
[2:34] Allyson: And so I was like, okay, yeah.
[2:35] Patrick: That's your favorite Mercedes solo?
[2:38] Allyson: I feel like, I think so.
[2:40] Patrick: There ain't no way.
[2:41] Allyson: I've got to see it.
[2:42] Patrick: Oh, wait, are you making a joke?
[2:45] Allyson: Or are you, what are you saying in a beautiful chest?
[2:48] Patrick: Okay, you're making a joke.
[2:49] Allyson: Why wouldn't it be?
[2:50] Patrick: There ain't no way.
[2:51] Allyson: It's your favorite.
[2:52] Patrick: Ain't no way.
[2:55] Allyson: I think, I mean, I always think that it was a joke.
[2:58] Allyson: Please comment on the Instagram if you understood my joke leaks.
[3:02] Allyson: Thank you.
[3:03] Allyson: There ain't no way.
[3:04] Patrick: That's my favorite.
[3:05] Allyson: Ain't no way.
[3:08] Allyson: But I saw it.
[3:09] Allyson: I saw it live.
[3:10] Allyson: And I always hold that in my heart.
[3:11] Patrick: Top it over here.
[3:12] Patrick: I saw her do this.
[3:13] Allyson: Yeah.
[3:14] Patrick: And so I was like, okay, ain't no way.
[3:17] Allyson: And I loved listening.
[3:18] Allyson: I was like singing along.
[3:19] Allyson: I was with it.
[3:20] Allyson: I was locked in.
[3:21] Patrick: Yeah.
[3:22] Patrick: And then you pull it and you're like, it's a season six.
[3:24] Allyson: And then, who was it?
[3:25] Patrick: Was it Elijah?
[3:26] Allyson: He guessed, like, is it head of, will you slug me tomorrow?
[3:30] Patrick: No, I think this was the most recent episode.
[3:32] Patrick: This was Calloway and Jack.
[3:34] Allyson: Yeah.
[3:35] Patrick: Okay, wait.
[3:36] Patrick: Yes.
[3:37] Allyson: So I, oh, Jack, it was Jack.
[3:40] Allyson: And you go, and what if it was?
[3:42] Patrick: And what if it was?
[3:45] Allyson: As soon as you said, and what if it was, and I could hear the background music coming in, I paused the episode, immediately messaged you guys like, no, no, no.
[3:52] Allyson: Because I'm not, I'm not DeLulu.
[3:54] Allyson: I'm not, I already, like, that is my baby girl.
[3:58] Patrick: That's been my baby girl forever and ever.
[4:00] Allyson: Wait, but are you serious?
[4:01] Allyson: I wanted to, I've been wanting to ask you all day.
[4:04] Allyson: I'm really glad that you're in the hot seat now.
[4:07] Allyson: Defend the claim flashbacks.
[4:09] Patrick: Exactly.
[4:10] Patrick: I had the same question.
[4:11] Allyson: Okay.
[4:12] Allyson: Okay.
[4:13] Allyson: Is the claim of it all okay with you?
[4:16] Patrick: Please elaborate.
[4:17] Allyson: Right.
[4:18] Allyson: And I did a lot of unpack.
[4:21] Allyson: You need to look deep inside yourself.
[4:23] Allyson: You had to talk to a therapist about it and unpack everything.
[4:26] Allyson: No, I rewatched Jagged Little Tapestry in honor of, you know, my baby girl being laid to rest.
[4:33] Allyson: And, like, it just made me sad because I'm like, I understand why she got left behind.
[4:41] Allyson: I do understand, but I'm still gonna, get behind me.
[4:44] Patrick: Get behind me.
[4:45] Allyson: Yeah.
[4:46] Allyson: But, you know, the episode opens with what the episode is going to be about.
[4:51] Allyson: And yeah, it does take away from it a little bit.
[4:54] Allyson: The flashbacks and he's just like working through his own shit.
[4:57] Patrick: And it does make me feel bad.
[5:01] Patrick: It's too late.
[5:03] Allyson: Well, yeah, it opens with it's too late.
[5:05] Allyson: But then when we fast forward and the plotline is still being pushed forward by this number that's not even being sung by him.
[5:12] Patrick: By Clayne.
[5:13] Allyson: Yeah.
[5:14] Allyson: And it sucks because there's so many little, like, breadcrumbs of them singing to each other.
[5:19] Allyson: And you're like, oh my God, this is actually so sweet.
[5:21] Allyson: And we will never see you again.
[5:23] Allyson: Like, there's no backstory.
[5:25] Allyson: There's no, like, subtext.
[5:28] Allyson: Like, we never get an explanation of, like, their cute little, like, they have so much chemistry.
[5:31] Patrick: But that's it.
[5:33] Allyson: Like, there's no lines.
[5:34] Allyson: There's no scene.
[5:35] Allyson: It's just that song.
[5:36] Allyson: And the song is just fully to propel the Clayne storyline.
[5:40] Patrick: And that is unfortunate.
[5:42] Allyson: But goddamn if that MP3 isn't triple platinum.
[5:46] Patrick: Oh, it's great.
[5:47] Patrick: It's perfect.
[5:48] Allyson: It's really good.
[5:49] Allyson: Yeah.
[5:50] Allyson: I feel like all the MP3s are really, really strong.
[5:55] Patrick: Like, what's the one that's not the mashup?
[5:58] Allyson: Like in season six.
[6:00] Patrick: In that episode.
[6:02] Allyson: So Far Away.
[6:03] Patrick: Oh, my God.
[6:05] Allyson: I think people need to...
[6:07] Patrick: Was it...
[6:08] Patrick: Was Jenna, like, not...
[6:10] Patrick: Was Jenna asleep on her own track?
[6:11] Patrick: Like, she was kind of like, oh, it was fine.
[6:13] Allyson: No, I remember, like, talking to Jenna.
[6:16] Allyson: Like, when it was, like, I did a recording with her right before she did the season six rewatch.
[6:20] Allyson: And I was like, oh, you have a really great cover with Diana coming up of So Far Away.
[6:25] Allyson: And she was like, no, I don't.
[6:26] Patrick: And I was like, no, you literally, it's on iTunes right now.
[6:28] Patrick: That's what it was.
[6:29] Allyson: Like, you can go listen to it.
[6:30] Allyson: And then, like, in the next episode, she was like, oh, I listened to it.
[6:33] Allyson: This is a huge moment for me.
[6:35] Patrick: Oh, yes, yes, yes.
[6:36] Allyson: Okay, yes.
[6:37] Allyson: Because Andrew told me to listen to it.
[6:39] Allyson: And she was like, oh, I kind of slayed with it.
[6:40] Patrick: And I'm like, oh my God, my work here is done.
[6:43] Allyson: Yes, it's so good.
[6:45] Patrick: Can I say a secret?
[6:47] Patrick: I know people say...
[6:49] Patrick: I've never listened to the MP3.
[6:51] Patrick: I don't think.
[6:52] Allyson: It's good.
[6:53] Allyson: It's really good.
[6:54] Allyson: It's Diana and Jenna on a duet.
[6:56] Patrick: On the podcast, I, like, have my Jenna moment and say, like, oh my God.
[6:59] Patrick: It's like...
[7:00] Patrick: Oh my God, Andrew told me to listen to this, so I am.
[7:02] Allyson: It's so good because they really commit to the bit of Tina's songs being cut off.
[7:07] Allyson: And I think that was, like, intentional.
[7:09] Allyson: But, like, they really are hiding the fact that that is a golden MP3.
[7:14] Allyson: Like, they sound so good.
[7:16] Patrick: And I brought this up before, but it was, like, initially supposed to be a mashup, So Far Away, with You Ought to Know.
[7:21] Patrick: And I'm, like, really curious how those two songs sort of went together.
[7:28] Allyson: And I'm curious.
[7:31] Allyson: I need to ask Jenna Girl if she recorded.
[7:35] Patrick: Well, she doesn't even remember So Far Away.
[7:37] Patrick: So how would she remember doing a potential mashup version?
[7:42] Allyson: Yeah.
[7:43] Allyson: So I have a question.
[7:44] Allyson: Because Calloway was on the last episode, and she defined what a grievance truly is, which is when your, like, heart is ripped out and things like that.
[7:51] Allyson: But, Patrick, you also kind of said, like, you understood why it left.
[8:00] Patrick: I understand.
[8:01] Patrick: Like, where do you fit in, like, Calloway's new definition of grievance?
[8:08] Patrick: I'm just so devastated.
[8:11] Allyson: Okay, so you would have voted for it, it sounds like.
[8:14] Patrick: I feel like I always, like, try to, like, not talk shit about the Gleeks.
[8:20] Allyson: I would never.
[8:21] Patrick: But, like, people come on this podcast really holding, like, their darling in their hand.
[8:29] Patrick: Like, guys, please hear me out.
[8:31] Allyson: But they're only hearing it from their own perspective and not the grand scheme of things.
[8:35] Patrick: Save my song!
[8:36] Allyson: Yeah.
[8:37] Allyson: Right.
[8:38] Patrick: And I feel like that song is my baby, my darling.
[8:41] Patrick: And so, like, maybe I'm trying to defend it, and this is me finally feeling what they're feeling.
[8:45] Patrick: Like, no, you guys, you have to hear me out.
[8:47] Allyson: Please!
[8:48] Patrick: You have to believe me!
[8:50] Allyson: Maybe I've already gotten an answer to this.
[8:52] Allyson: Please!
[8:53] Patrick: You have to believe me!
[8:54] Allyson: Are you definitively saying winner of your Glackett?
[8:57] Patrick: What are you saying?
[8:59] Patrick: I feel so, ugh.
[9:02] Patrick: Because that, like, when I think of my favorite Gleeks song.
[9:05] Patrick: That's the winner of your Glackett.
[9:07] Allyson: Oh, yeah.
[9:08] Patrick: There's no way.
[9:09] Allyson: Ain't no way that's the winner of your Glackett.
[9:11] Patrick: Ain't no way.
[9:14] Allyson: Ain't no way.
[9:15] Patrick: Literally, I think it could be.
[9:18] Allyson: Oh, gosh.
[9:20] Patrick: I'm mansplaining your Glackett to you.
[9:22] Allyson: I know.
[9:23] Allyson: I mean, like, yeah.
[9:24] Allyson: I think it could be top five.
[9:25] Patrick: What is a Glackett?
[9:26] Patrick: What are the, like, because I stream that song so much, but I don't think it would be, like, if the rules were applying, I don't think it would be the winner of my Glackett.
[9:32] Allyson: But I hold her so tightly.
[9:37] Allyson: Like, I listen to her on, like, save to my phone.
[9:40] Allyson: Like, listen to on planes is a comfort song.
[9:42] Patrick: But I strongly believe that your favorites aren't necessarily, like, the best.
[9:49] Allyson: 100%.
[9:50] Patrick: So, like, I have so many favorites where it's, like, I'm not going to get on the podcast and be, like, my favorite has to win.
[9:58] Allyson: So I'm going to, like, collectively speak for everybody in this community.
[10:03] Patrick: Yes.
[10:04] Patrick: I think that's, like, part of it that's interesting.
[10:08] Patrick: And, like, it's fun that you invite us on, Andrew.
[10:10] Andrew: But there are times sometimes where I'm, like, I can't really do the one that I specifically want or, like, I like more.
[10:16] Patrick: Yes.
[10:19] Patrick: Because sometimes you just have to kind of take into account, like, everybody listening.
[10:23] Patrick: And it's, like, kind of a privilege that we get to be on often.
[10:27] Allyson: Yes.
[10:28] Allyson: And that's what I'm saying.
[10:29] Allyson: So I don't want to just be, like, this is my Glackett.
[10:31] Allyson: And, like, I want to kill all the Blaine songs.
[10:33] Patrick: It's, like, no, like, these ones are really good.
[10:35] Allyson: So I try to keep that in mind.
[10:37] Patrick: But also beyond that, like, I have so many Glee songs that, like, I personally love and are my favorites.
[10:44] Patrick: But I don't want to put my name on this is the best song on Glee.
[10:48] Allyson: Oh, that's exactly what I'm saying.
[10:50] Patrick: That's exactly what I'm saying.
[10:51] Allyson: Yeah.
[10:52] Allyson: Which is why I'm saying I understand why Ain't No Way had to go through in that competition.
[10:57] Patrick: Like, I concede.
[10:59] Patrick: I get it.
[11:00] Allyson: But I'm still hard for him.
[11:01] Allyson: It really makes me, like, it really makes me emotional, in a way.
[11:03] Patrick: I think that it's, like, a really well-crafted moment in the series.
[11:08] Patrick: Like, just the way that it's, like, shot is, like, really, really special to me.
[11:13] Allyson: Wait, so any other grievances to say at this moment?
[11:16] Patrick: You know what?
[11:17] Patrick: I actually took notes.
[11:18] Patrick: And funny enough, the first episode, I think, that I listened to was Patrick's.
[11:22] Allyson: So I did take some notes about your episode, Patrick.
[11:26] Patrick: Okay.
[11:28] Patrick: The thing is, I also, well, hold on.
[11:30] Allyson: What does Connor say?
[11:33] Allyson: Like, all tongue, no kiss.
[11:35] Patrick: Oh.
[11:37] Allyson: Straight into it.
[11:40] Andrew: Hey, we're here.
[11:41] Allyson: Allison, what are your grievances?
[11:43] Allyson: We have to, like, we have to take a pause.
[11:45] Patrick: I know.
[11:46] Patrick: We haven't had any, like, there's no foreplay involved.
[11:50] Allyson: There's no foreplay.
[11:51] Patrick: Let's, like, go back.
[11:52] Allyson: You know, it's, like, not working.
[11:53] Patrick: Let's go back.
[11:57] Patrick: Back to the beginning.
[11:58] Allyson: Go back.
[11:59] Patrick: Go back.
[12:00] Allyson: Yeah.
[12:01] Allyson: Very fun that we're getting paired together, Allison.
[12:05] Patrick: I can't believe it.
[12:08] Allyson: We've never been paired together.
[12:09] Patrick: No, when you in the chat were, like, oh, this is your guys' first time recording.
[12:15] Allyson: I said, no, it's not.
[12:16] Allyson: I feel like when I listen to your episodes, I feel, like, maybe very parasitical.
[12:19] Patrick: You're there.
[12:20] Allyson: Like, what do you mean?
[12:21] Patrick: I totally recorded with Patrick before.
[12:23] Allyson: But, no, I can't believe it.
[12:27] Patrick: And so then I.
[12:28] Patrick: Believe it.
[12:29] Patrick: I listened back to one of your recent episodes with the other Allison.
[12:32] Allyson: And I was, like, what exactly is the vibe?
[12:36] Patrick: Because sometimes I go in and I'm, like, I know I'm going to fight with this person.
[12:39] Allyson: I was so excited.
[12:41] Patrick: I wanted you to be combative.
[12:43] Patrick: If it's, like, Claudia, I'm going to be, like, this is, like, the most amazing person on the face of the planet.
[12:52] Patrick: And I'm just going to, like, tell them I love them.
[12:54] Allyson: And then if it's, like, I don't know, someone else.
[12:56] Patrick: Like, I kind of am, like, okay, I know what the vibe is going to be.
[12:59] Allyson: And so then I was, like, okay, what's my vibe going to be with Allison?
[13:02] Patrick: And I think that, like, we kind of just, like, are spotless.
[13:05] Patrick: We have, like, spotless takes.
[13:06] Allyson: I just feel like this is going to be, like, a really agreeable episode.
[13:09] Patrick: And we're all going to make the right decisions.
[13:11] Allyson: But.
[13:13] Patrick: I think we're going to vibe.
[13:14] Allyson: I think we're going to vibe.
[13:15] Patrick: My first note is.
[13:16] Allyson: We're going to vibe.
[13:17] Patrick: But I'm scared now because you said, like, oh, I listened to your episode and I have notes.
[13:21] Allyson: So I don't know.
[13:22] Allyson: Maybe we're not going to vibe.
[13:23] Patrick: This is your HR.
[13:24] Patrick: This is your report.
[13:26] Allyson: Okay.
[13:27] Allyson: Well, my first note is you're a Degrassi guy.
[13:30] Patrick: What is it?
[13:33] Allyson: I take notes like I'm tweeting.
[13:37] Allyson: So I'll listen to the episode and I'm just, like, tweeting my notes.
[13:40] Patrick: And I'm a Degrassi girlie.
[13:42] Allyson: I love Degrassi.
[13:43] Patrick: So when I was, like, oh, you're a Degrassi guy.
[13:45] Allyson: We need to talk offline.
[13:46] Patrick: Because when I was on the live episode, everyone in the chat was, like, stop fucking talking about this.
[13:51] Allyson: And I was, like, why do you hate me?
[13:53] Patrick: Wait, why?
[13:54] Patrick: I don't remember that.
[13:56] Allyson: Everyone was, like, Degrassi more like Degrossi.
[14:00] Patrick: And I was, like, this is.
[14:01] Allyson: Oh, I do remember that.
[14:02] Patrick: I was offended.
[14:03] Allyson: I was, like, this is an issue.
[14:04] Patrick: Okay.
[14:05] Patrick: Mary McDonald, for those of you who don't know, if you ever saw Degrassi, it's, like, the main blonde girl.
[14:09] Patrick: And she has a private Instagram that for some reason she accepted me and Andrew to follow her.
[14:14] Allyson: And she just posts about, like, skin and dots.
[14:16] Patrick: I would assume that she would accept everybody.
[14:19] Patrick: She's not looking at our profiles and being, like, yes, yes.
[14:23] Allyson: And you and you.
[14:24] Patrick: No.
[14:25] Allyson: No.
[14:26] Patrick: Yes.
[14:28] Allyson: Yes.
[14:29] Patrick: Okay.
[14:30] Allyson: Maybe she is.
[14:31] Patrick: Don't take this away from him.
[14:32] Allyson: Yeah.
[14:33] Patrick: Okay.
[14:34] Allyson: Okay.
[14:35] Patrick: Okay.
[14:36] Allyson: All right.
[14:37] Patrick: Yeah.
[14:38] Allyson: Next note, please.
[14:43] Patrick: Okay.
[14:42] Allyson Alamode: Welcome to "Oops! All Naya." I'm so excited to be here with Patrick today.
[15:12] Allyson Alamode: We're diving into some of the most iconic performances from Glee, and I can't wait to get started.
[15:32] Allyson Alamode: First up, let's talk about the Glee cruise. Patrick, you were on that cruise, right?
[15:52] Allyson Alamode: What was that experience like for you?
[16:12] Patrick Sammon: It was absolutely incredible! Being surrounded by fellow Gleeks and getting to see the cast perform live was a dream come true.
[16:32] Allyson Alamode: That sounds amazing! I can only imagine the energy on that cruise.
[16:52] Patrick Sammon: It really was something special. Everyone was just so excited to be there, and the performances were top-notch.
[17:12] Allyson Alamode: Speaking of performances, I want to talk about "Problem." Heather Morris really stole the show with her voice.
[17:32] Patrick Sammon: Absolutely! It was such a standout moment, and it really showcased her talent.
[17:52] Allyson Alamode: And can we talk about Dianna Agron? I feel like Heather really brought something unique to that performance.
[18:12] Patrick Sammon: For sure! There was a certain chemistry between the two of them that made it even more memorable.
[18:32] Allyson Alamode: I love that! And then there's the whole Valerie to Big Sean pipeline. It's fascinating how these songs connect.
[18:52] Patrick Sammon: Right? It's like a musical journey through the series, and it really highlights the evolution of the characters.
[19:12] Allyson Alamode: Exactly! And I think that's what makes Glee so special—the way it intertwines music and storytelling.
[19:32] Patrick Sammon: Definitely! Each performance adds another layer to the characters and their development.
[19:52] Allyson Alamode: I can't wait to see where our favorite performances end up on the Glacket!
[20:02] Allyson Alamode: Let's keep the conversation going and dive into some more performances.
[20:12] Patrick Sammon: Sounds great! I'm ready to discuss all the iconic moments.
[20:32] Allyson Alamode: Perfect! So, what’s next on our list?
[20:42] Patrick Sammon: I think we should talk about "Survivor/I Will Survive." That mashup is legendary!
[21:02] Allyson Alamode: Yes! That performance was so powerful and really resonated with a lot of fans.
[21:22] Patrick Sammon: It was a true anthem of resilience, and the way they blended those two songs was genius.
[21:42] Allyson Alamode: I agree! It really showcased the strength of the characters and the message of empowerment.
[22:02] Patrick Sammon: And the choreography was on point! It added so much energy to the performance.
[22:22] Allyson Alamode: Absolutely! The visuals really complemented the music perfectly.
[22:32] Patrick Sammon: It’s moments like these that remind us why we fell in love with Glee in the first place.
[22:42] Allyson Alamode: Exactly! And I think we should also touch on "There Are Worse Things I Could Do."
[23:02] Patrick Sammon: Yes! That song is such a classic and really highlights the emotional depth of the characters.
[23:22] Allyson Alamode: It’s such a poignant moment in the series, and the way it was performed was just beautiful.
[23:42] Patrick Sammon: I love how Glee takes these classic songs and makes them relevant to the storylines.
[24:02] Allyson Alamode: Definitely! It’s all about making those connections and bringing new life to the music.
[24:22] Patrick Sammon: And that’s what keeps us coming back for more!
[24:32] Allyson Alamode: For sure! I can’t wait to see what other performances we’ll be discussing today.
[24:42] Patrick Sammon: Let’s keep the momentum going!
[25:02] Allyson Alamode: Alright! Next up, let’s talk about "Valerie."
[25:12] Patrick Sammon: Such a fun performance! It really brought the house down.
[25:22] Allyson Alamode: I love how upbeat and catchy it is. It’s hard not to dance along!
[25:32] Patrick Sammon: Exactly! And the energy from the cast during that performance was infectious.
[25:42] Allyson Alamode: It’s definitely one of those songs that you can’t help but sing along to.
[25:52] Patrick Sammon: And it’s a perfect example of how Glee blends different genres and styles.
[26:12] Allyson Alamode: Absolutely! It’s all about celebrating music in all its forms.
[26:22] Patrick Sammon: And that’s what makes Glee such a unique show.
[26:32] Allyson Alamode: I couldn’t agree more! Let’s keep the discussion going.
[26:42] Patrick Sammon: I’m all in! What’s next on our agenda?
[26:52] Allyson Alamode: I think we should wrap up with some of our favorite moments from the series.
[27:02] Patrick Sammon: Great idea! There are so many to choose from.
[27:22] Allyson Alamode: For me, it’s hard to pick just one, but I always loved the emotional performances.
[27:32] Patrick Sammon: Same here! Those moments really hit home and resonate with the audience.
[27:42] Allyson Alamode: It’s what makes Glee so relatable and impactful.
[27:52] Patrick Sammon: Absolutely! And I think that’s why we keep coming back to it.
[28:02] Allyson Alamode: Yes! It’s a show that stays with you long after you’ve watched it.
[28:12] Patrick Sammon: And that’s the magic of Glee!
[28:32] Allyson Alamode: I’m so glad we got to chat about all of this today.
[28:42] Patrick Sammon: Me too! It’s been such a fun discussion.
[29:02] Allyson Alamode: Thanks for joining us, everyone! We can’t wait to see you next time.
[29:12] Patrick Sammon: Bye, everyone!
[29:25] Patrick Sammon: Coldplay and High School Musical as the only music I listened to before Glee started. And then Glee started and then I learned what other music was. So then I had no need to listen to Blame It on the Alcohol original version. That's my answer.
[29:45] Patrick Sammon: I do have a question for you since you brought up Pokemon, the first movie. Do you remember a song, like do you actually remember the soundtrack?
[29:55] Allyson Alamode: I can sing it front words and backwards.
[29:58] Patrick Sammon: Okay, so do you remember the song, They Don't Understand?
[30:03] Allyson Alamode: They don't understand from the Pokemon soundtrack.
[30:07] Patrick Sammon: I don't think that's on there. It's either Pokemon or Pokemon 2000, I can't remember.
[30:12] Allyson Alamode: It might be Pokemon 2000.
[30:13] Patrick Sammon: Wait, is Pokemon 2000 not the first movie?
[30:18] Allyson Alamode: No, but the reason I bring it up-
[30:20] Patrick Sammon: Pokemon 2000 is the second movie.
[30:24] Allyson Alamode: Okay, so there's a song called They Don't Understand by Dream Street. And I was just wondering, because it's such a deep cut. And like, if nobody would, when you brought up the Pokemon soundtrack, I was like, oh my god. But is it Pokemon 2000? Or is it Pokemon?
[30:39] Patrick Sammon: I'm seeing Pokemon version of Dream Street from, oh, but it's a re-release in 2021.
[30:49] Allyson Alamode: Oh, no, forget it.
[30:51] Patrick Sammon: I don't remember that one.
[30:52] Allyson Alamode: I remember that song. That soundtrack had like, Soda Pop by Britney Spears. It had like some 98 Degrees songs. It had some like, Blessed Union of Souls songs. But I don't remember that one.
[31:03] Patrick Sammon: But-
[31:03] Allyson Alamode: Oh my god.
[31:05] Patrick Sammon: You don't remember that?
[31:06] Allyson Alamode: You don't remember-
[31:07] Patrick Sammon: This episode is random as hell.
[31:09] Allyson Alamode: Yeah, we're all over the place.
[31:11] Patrick Sammon: We're talking, can we talk about maybe songs that were manifesting?
[31:16] Allyson Alamode: Wait, I'm not sure what my grievance is.
[31:18] Patrick Sammon: Oh, okay.
[31:19] Allyson Alamode: Sorry, sorry, sorry.
[31:20] Patrick Sammon: I'm sorry.
[31:20] Allyson Alamode: We're grievancing.
[31:21] Patrick Sammon: That's actually my only grievance.
[31:22] Allyson Alamode: But I did want to say, I wanted to say two more things before we like, continue with the episode. When I listened to Allison's episode, the double Allison, the Allison squared episode.
[31:33] Patrick Sammon: Yeah.
[31:33] Allyson Alamode: Why I think we'll vibe, Allison, despite the fact that like, maybe we disagree with Like a Prayer, blame it on the alcohol competition, is that we both hate Christmas wrapping so much.
[31:43] Patrick Sammon: Oh, come on.
[31:44] Allyson Alamode: And I really hope that we draw it today and kill it.
[31:49] Patrick Sammon: I was listening to the playlist to like-
[31:52] Allyson Alamode: You don't like fun.
[31:56] Patrick Sammon: I like fun.
[31:57] Allyson Alamode: I like We Are Young.
[31:58] Patrick Sammon: I don't like Christmas wrapping.
[31:59] Allyson Alamode: Some nights, come on now.
[32:01] Patrick Sammon: Some nights, I like it.
[32:03] Allyson Alamode: Why not? Just give me a reason.
[32:06] Patrick Sammon: I don't mind her.
[32:06] Allyson Alamode: People hate her.
[32:07] Patrick Sammon: I don't mind her.
[32:08] Allyson Alamode: But I hate-
[32:12] Patrick Sammon: Just give me a reason.
[32:13] Allyson Alamode: It's fine.
[32:14] Patrick Sammon: It's not like, I'm not like, oh, I love it. But it's not as bad as people think.
[32:19] Allyson Alamode: They were bored.
[32:20] Patrick Sammon: But yeah, Christmas wrapping, it's more just like, and I feel the same way about blame on the alcohol. And I've definitely explained this concept before on a past episode. But I feel like we just like pick random songs that were like-
[32:33] Allyson Alamode: What is the most out of pocket thing that we can say?
[32:37] Patrick Sammon: Christmas wrapping is like the best ever. And like, we're going to vote it through all the time. Like what made it on the alcohol? Like all the Gleeks love this more than everything else, right?
[32:44] Allyson Alamode: And it's like, no, I miss that Gleek meeting. I don't remember voting for those as our best songs.
[32:50] Patrick Sammon: I hate Christmas wrapping. I hate her so much.
[32:54] Allyson Alamode: I mean, we're going to pull it tonight and kill it.
[32:56] Patrick Sammon: Okay.
[32:57] Allyson Alamode: I have one other thing, which again, like we went all tongue no kissing. I need to talk about my Glee booze cruise.
[33:06] Patrick Sammon: Oh my God.
[33:06] Allyson Alamode: Your glues cruise.
[33:08] Patrick Sammon: I went on a glues cruise.
[33:12] Allyson Alamode: And the last episode I was on, Andrew asked me like what I was up to Glee-wise.
[33:18] Patrick Sammon: And I was like, I don't know.
[33:20] Allyson Alamode: I love asking people what they're up to Glee-wise. I forgot that in like three days from that recording, I was set to go on a Glee themed booze cruise on Lake Michigan in Chicago.
[33:32] Patrick Sammon: And let me tell you, it was wild.
[33:37] Allyson Alamode: So-
[33:38] Patrick Sammon: I didn't like the AI signs that they had.
[33:40] Allyson Alamode: Me either.
[33:41] Patrick Sammon: That made me upset.
[33:42] Allyson Alamode: Okay. So I don't know if any of the glisteners live in a bigger city. I feel like what happens a lot is they're like, here's what's going on in Chicago this weekend. Like Glee booze cruise, pay like $70 to go on a boat in Lake Michigan.
[34:01] Patrick Sammon: It was like $60 or something.
[34:03] Allyson Alamode: And I was like, you know what? I sent it to one of my best friends. And I was like, LOL, look at this. And she said, we're going.
[34:10] Patrick Sammon: LOL, look at this.
[34:12] Allyson Alamode: It's like, do you want to go or not? So we got tickets and there was a lot of booze.
[34:21] Patrick Sammon: Did you blame it on the alcohol?
[34:23] Allyson Alamode: You know what? I did blame it on alcohol.
[34:24] Patrick Sammon: Did you shout?
[34:29] Allyson Alamode: Yeah.
[34:34] Patrick Sammon: It was so funny because we got to the boat and there were all these people dressed up in track suits and people had plain t-shirts on and stuff like that.
[34:51] Allyson Alamode: It was funny because a lot of them were kind of shy people who are like, I hate Glee. And I'm here like, yeah, do you guys listen to Glee podcast? Everyone get your phones out and follow them.
[35:05] Patrick Sammon: Oh, I love that.
[35:08] Allyson Alamode: And then people were like, and I was like, I'm a little drunk. Sorry, 18-year-olds who listen. And I would just go up to people and be like, what's your favorite Glee song? And they're like, I really like blah, blah, blah. I'm like, no, come back with a better one.
[35:26] Patrick Sammon: Next.
[35:26] Allyson Alamode: Sorry, try again. We're going to circle back to you.
[35:30] Patrick Sammon: I was talking to people and I was like, okay, here's my question. Four minutes are my man. I was like giving them and then they were like, I love the way that you said my man. If you want to listen to this, follow Gleek of the Week on Instagram.
[35:45] Allyson Alamode: And then people will come back and they'd be like, my man's the answer. And I'm like, okay, see, this is an issue, but you should follow Gleek of the Week.
[35:52] Patrick Sammon: It sounds like you were fighting with everybody on this damn cruise.
[35:55] Allyson Alamode: I was just, I was getting into it with people. I mean, that's ultimately what the Glocket is. I wanted to give them a taste of what Gleek of the Week is, which is a large percentage of me yelling.
[36:01] Patrick Sammon: Animosity, yeah.
[36:10] Allyson Alamode: On the episodes I'm on. But it was really fun. But yeah, they did have like, to be honest, only like one of them was AI.
[36:20] Patrick Sammon: And it was like a Glee slushy thing.
[36:22] Allyson Alamode: Otherwise, they printed pictures of the cast's face and put them on popsicle sticks.
[36:30] Patrick Sammon: That was like it.
[36:32] Allyson Alamode: You went on the boat and you could pick up a popsicle stick with Santana's face on it or Kurt's face on it.
[36:39] Patrick Sammon: It's giving the Pokemon Airbnb.
[36:43] Allyson Alamode: Exactly it, Alison. I didn't really finish my thought earlier where I was like, oh, it's like a scam bullshit thing. But it was, but I kind of knew it. But I was like, whatever for the plot. And then they just played like Glee songs on the like speaker system.
[36:57] Patrick Sammon: And they like drove us around like part of Lake Michigan.
[37:01] Allyson Alamode: And I was just like drinking and yelling at Gleeks.
[37:05] Patrick Sammon: How long?
[37:08] Allyson Alamode: Time lost all, I have no idea.
[37:11] Patrick Sammon: Of course.
[37:11] Allyson Alamode: It got into my head. I have no idea how long I was on that boat. But it was really fun.
[37:19] Patrick Sammon: I was probably still on that boat.
[37:21] Allyson Alamode: I'm still on that boat spiritually.
[37:23] Patrick Sammon: I think it was maybe a like over an hour.
[37:30] Allyson Alamode: But I'm reading a book right now, which is like a really popular book that a lot of people probably read, like the five people you meet in heaven. And basically, like this guy dies and he he's meeting all these people in heaven.
[37:36] Patrick Sammon: And then you you learn that each of the people-
[37:46] Allyson Alamode: I can't wait to see how this circles back.
[37:52] Patrick Sammon: Each of the people that he meets, like he's meeting them and like their version of heaven.
[37:58] Allyson Alamode: And I was like, huh? Mine is the Gleek of the week. Boo, screw it.
[38:05] Patrick Sammon: I was young that we're all there yelling at people.
[38:09] Allyson Alamode: And I was outside. And there's Glee stuff. I feel God.
[38:14] Patrick Sammon: I was making people follow you on Instagram.
[38:17] Allyson Alamode: Yeah, I feel glad.
[38:20] Patrick Sammon: I feel glad in this chilly scenario.
[38:22] Allyson Alamode: Sometimes sometimes Andrew will end a recording and he'll be like, this was a perfect episode.
[38:30] Patrick Sammon: I'm like, I love it when there's like no notes and no edits to make.
[38:33] Allyson Alamode: I cannot wait to listen to this one.
[38:39] Patrick Sammon: Entire chunks cut out.
[38:45] Allyson Alamode: And I won't even be offended, Andrew. I promise.
[38:47] Patrick Sammon: No, I'm not. I don't think I'm gonna cut anything out. I'm saying right now we are we are 41 minutes right now.
[38:56] Allyson Alamode: This is what happens when you go all tongue no kiss.
[38:59] Patrick Sammon: Because yeah, you were trying to get through it. And I was like, no, you're pissing me off. I need to talk about Glee booze cruise.
[39:05] Allyson Alamode: I need to talk about Pokemon.
[39:08] Patrick Sammon: I need to talk about Degrassi.
[39:09] Allyson Alamode: I need to talk about Alison Alamode's last episode, you know.
[39:13] Patrick Sammon: So I think I think I've gotten through all my preferred topics.
[39:17] Allyson Alamode: I have written down here. Glackett like a prayer verse blame it on the alcohol and I have like a per underlined.
[39:24] Patrick Sammon: And then I have Glee booze cruise.
[39:28] Allyson Alamode: And I had Christmas wrapping.
[39:29] Patrick Sammon: I have three items on my list on my list.
[39:32] Allyson Alamode: Amazing.
[39:33] Patrick Sammon: Are there any items left on your list, Alison?
[39:38] Allyson Alamode: Action items?
[39:41] Patrick Sammon: No, no.
[39:42] Allyson Alamode: Okay.
[39:44] Patrick Sammon: So we want to we want to kill Christmas wrapping.
[39:46] Allyson Alamode: Anything else that we is there anything that we want to save?
[39:49] Patrick Sammon: What are we thinking?
[39:50] Allyson Alamode: There's like, I mean, it's I mean, it's round four up in here. Because every every song is there are like majority heavy hitters.
[40:00] Patrick Sammon: And then there's some that I'm like, okay, you're obviously getting left behind.
[40:03] Allyson Alamode: But you know, who's to say I see a song I do want to kill.
[40:07] Patrick Sammon: Okay, what is it?
[40:08] Allyson Alamode: More than words.
[40:11] Patrick Sammon: Wait, I need to look at what's remaining now.
[40:14] Allyson Alamode: Wait, do you want to save that?
[40:16] Patrick Sammon: Wait, what else?
[40:17] Allyson Alamode: What is this?
[40:18] Patrick Sammon: I, I'm not like going up for it. But I don't think it's as it's bad.
[40:23] Allyson Alamode: Like if it was up again, more than words. If more than words was against you keep me hanging on.
[40:28] Patrick Sammon: I would vote for more than you know what?
[40:32] Allyson Alamode: I hate that when I said there's a song I want to kill. That's what it was.
[40:36] Patrick Sammon: You keep me hanging on.
[40:38] Allyson Alamode: You want to kill you keep me hanging on.
[40:40] Patrick Sammon: I do.
[40:41] Allyson Alamode: If there's a Rory solo left, Andrew will kill it for that.
[40:50] Patrick Sammon: This is okay. So this is actually kind of scary because this is an iconic one.
[40:53] Allyson Alamode: Um, this is maybe the best solo of this fan favorite character.
[41:00] Patrick Sammon: So it's spooky that this is the first song pulled.
[41:04] Allyson Alamode: Um, let's see.
[41:05] Patrick Sammon: I know what boys like.
[41:08] Allyson Alamode: Yeah, I know what boys like.
[41:11] Patrick Sammon: No, it's not.
[41:12] Allyson Alamode: Is you see what this is?
[41:15] Patrick Sammon: Okay, okay.
[41:16] Allyson Alamode: You know what it is?
[41:17] Patrick Sammon: It's Valerie.
[41:18] Allyson Alamode: Yeah, okay.
[41:18] Patrick Sammon: Okay.
[41:23] Allyson Alamode: I'm not even kidding.
[41:24] Patrick Sammon: Is that the winner of the guac it?
[41:27] Allyson Alamode: To me, it's like top two or top four.
[41:31] Patrick Sammon: When I did the exercise initially, that this was tied for first with a landslide and love song.
[41:39] Allyson Alamode: When I like, yeah, oh my God.
[41:42] Patrick Sammon: It's so special.
[41:43] Allyson Alamode: And the first thing I need to say is, um, that that flip that hemo which one?
[41:50] Patrick Sammon: Jesus, the at the very end, the very end where she like, she like flips over Harry Shum's back and then like lands on her on her feet.
[42:01] Allyson Alamode: But she's in heels. And I'm just like, girl makes her mark and still makes her still still finds it.
[42:08] Patrick Sammon: Oh my God, that
[42:09] Allyson Alamode: way Patrick song.
[42:15] Patrick Sammon: So what did you want to say?
[42:16] Allyson Alamode: Well, I'm asking you to say like, is this the one of the bucket and I remember last round when this was against the Dell mashup.
[42:23] Patrick Sammon: And I thought like the world literally and Oh, and it got it got killed.
[42:28] Allyson Alamode: And then it got voted back.
[42:30] Patrick Sammon: If we recall the history of this.
[42:32] Allyson Alamode: So I I think that I would vote for like, I forgot about that.
[42:38] Patrick Sammon: To be honest, like nowadays, I think in that last one, because I remember it was Connor and Ian, I think and you obviously, and that is Connor and Matt.
[42:47] Allyson Alamode: Oh, was it?
[42:48] Patrick Sammon: Yeah, maybe it was Connor and Matt.
[42:49] Allyson Alamode: Um, oh yeah, it was because I remember being like messaging both of them.
[42:53] Patrick Sammon: I mean, like, why did you not die?
[42:56] Allyson Alamode: Individually? Why did you not die?
[42:59] Patrick Sammon: Specifically, Connor, I remember being like, you should have spontaneously combusted.
[43:04] Allyson Alamode: I'm glad that you're still alive.
[43:06] Patrick Sammon: But yeah, that's the like that. Those two songs are like, top two, I think for me.
[43:13] Allyson Alamode: Like, I go back and forth between like, which one I maybe want to win the blackhead.
[43:19] Patrick Sammon: But then again, there are lots of other songs where maybe if like, you reminded me of them, I'd be like, well, maybe that's when I like it, too.
[43:25] Allyson Alamode: So I don't have a true winner of blackhead.
[43:26] Patrick Sammon: But like, I just think it'd be very, very, very difficult to really, really special, like to make this one die in this round.
[43:34] Allyson Alamode: I think it really, really takes something special.
[43:38] Patrick Sammon: Yeah, I wouldn't even know what to do.
[43:41] Allyson Alamode: Like, I, I completely forgot that that was a competition that existed.
[43:45] Patrick Sammon: I think everyone did, because we all blacked out.
[43:47] Allyson Alamode: It was when you just said it. I was like, yeah.
[43:51] Patrick Sammon: I and I remember listening to it.
[43:54] Allyson Alamode: I had to.
[43:56] Patrick Sammon: It could happen again, right? Like, we have not pulled it all mash up yet.
[44:00] Allyson Alamode: I think that like, for whatever reason, I just like, I so Valerie lost.
[44:08] Patrick Sammon: The adult mashup won. And then Valerie was voted back. That's crazy. Wow.
[44:17] Allyson Alamode: Valerie, to me, there's something so deeply... I don't know if you feel a similar way, but there's something so nostalgic about it that there's...
[44:26] Patrick Sammon: It is. 100%.
[44:29] Allyson Alamode: I don't know why, though, but I just remember when this stepped out into the scene. But I was like, oh, I think it still remains to this day in my top five most played songs in my library. It is so, so... It was always on the rotation. I think that...
[44:52] Patrick Sammon: I think I've probably listened to this song more than anything in my life because I remember listening to Glee the Music Vol. 4 and just literally skipping until this track. I think it was track number, what, 14? That it was near the end. I think it was the final track.
[45:09] Allyson Alamode: I think it was the final track of that album. Yeah. Incredible. Lives were literally changed, and I'm not even exaggerating. There are certainly songs that quite literally changed... The song that changed everything.
[45:25] Patrick Sammon: This song did change a lot. I'm sure, obviously, there's Amy Winehouse fans, and Mark Ronson fans, but I mean, I had never heard the song, but I mean, maybe that's just me living... I didn't exactly live under a rock.
[45:38] Allyson Alamode: Yeah, no, no, no. They dust this one off.
[45:40] Patrick Sammon: Yeah, for sure. And now you hear it everywhere. And now it's brought back the popularity of the original because sometimes you'll hear the original and be like, oh, yay, I like this song because I heard it on Glee. And...
[45:53] Allyson Alamode: And the original Amy version, because I know it's not originally Amy, it's the Zutons.
[45:58] Patrick Sammon: And Amy, her original version is like, well, sometimes I go out.
[46:07] Allyson Alamode: Very jazzy.
[46:08] Patrick Sammon: It's jazzy. But the beat that they apply to this, and I don't even think it's really... I think the Zutons version, if I recall correctly, I-I-R-C, that...
[46:24] Allyson Alamode: I was like, I-I-R-C.
[46:26] Patrick Sammon: I felt crazy sending that.
[46:28] Allyson Alamode: No, when you sent it, I was like, I-I decoded it, but I was like, I have never seen that acronym in my life.
[46:33] Patrick Sammon: But the Zutons version, I-R-R-C, I think it's like a little bit more rocky. And so like, this is, this is like a really nice combination of the two.
[46:47] Allyson Alamode: Well, it has the Walking on Sunshine beat to me.
[46:51] Patrick Sammon: Oh, yes.
[46:52] Allyson Alamode: That's a great way to put it. Yeah.
[46:54] Patrick Sammon: So, yeah.
[46:56] Allyson Alamode: I have a lot to say about this song. And I think that sometimes I-I admire a lot of the other people you have on this podcast, Andrew, because I think a lot of people are really good at like, putting into words why something is so special to them. And I struggle with that a lot. Or I'm just like, this is like, awesome, and I love it. But-
[47:18] Patrick Sammon: No, you got it.
[47:19] Allyson Alamode: This one always really, really, really hits for me. And I feel like I have a new way to explain why. So I'm gonna try it out.
[47:28] Patrick Sammon: I love and-
[47:28] Allyson Alamode: I'm gonna try it out.
[47:29] Patrick Sammon: All right, let's see. Debut.
[47:31] Allyson Alamode: Okay. So-so I think that like, it's a collective experience for the most part, I think, of people who like, watched the show live in like, seasons one, season two, where we were definitely getting like, Rachel fatigue. And in season two, when they started to really let more of the voices shine, and especially like with the duets episode, for example, they were kind of unlocking being like, we have a stacked ass cast. And like, you all should really-
[47:59] Patrick Sammon: Utilize them.
[48:00] Allyson Alamode: How great they are. And one thing that I really, really liked hearing from, I think it was, I can't remember if it was when Kevin and Jenna were on Week of the Week, or if it was one of their own episodes. So Andrew, maybe you remember, but Jenna was talking about how Naya would, like in season one, say, like, there's so much more I can bring to the show. And like, I'm like, waiting for my chance to do that. And, you know, I didn't really know she said that, or like, thought that at the time. But like, at that time, it just like, really shown through. And I feel like, why it was so exciting, especially as someone in like, who did like theater growing up and like music and stuff like that was just like, sometimes you're really just like waiting for your chance to show the world like who you are, and like how excited you are about something and how passionate you are about something.
[49:05] Patrick Sammon: And I think like that performance really just, you can tell. And I think just like, even like every time I watched it, like growing up and stuff, I was just like, I didn't have the words for it. But I could just tell that she was like, I'm here to show you all like, how, who I am, and like what I can bring to the table. And I think all of us have something like that in us where that's why we root for the underdog. Or like, that's why we get excited when people like kind of pop out of nowhere, or like a new pop star gets really big or something like that. Because like, I think part of you is like, maybe I don't want to be a pop star. But like part of me is like, I can't wait till that happens to me when like the world can really understand and like recognize like, what I am excited about, like what I want to bring to the world.
And I just feel like she was able to do that with this performance. And yeah, it's really special to me. And like, I really, really, really love her for that. And like, love that performance for that. So that's my way of trying to better explain why I love this song.
[50:08] Patrick Sammon: I'm gonna kill you.
[50:13] Allyson Alamode: Wait, Alton, are you crying?
[50:16] Patrick Sammon: It did make me a little misty.
[50:18] Allyson Alamode: That was really well articulated.
[50:21] Patrick Sammon: That was so profound. I'm like, literally, my eyes are watering.
[50:25] Allyson Alamode: I will never vote against this song.
[50:28] Patrick Sammon: I'm like, I love, I love, I love.
[50:29] Allyson Alamode: Yeah, oh my god. I like, oh my god.
[50:33] Patrick Sammon: Is this her first true solo?
[50:36] Allyson Alamode: Well, I mean, science fiction double feature comes before.
[50:39] Patrick Sammon: I mean, she was Lips and Rocky Horror.
[50:44] Allyson Alamode: To be honest, if you're watching the episode, like you at the time, you might not have really put together that was Santana. Like most people probably did.
[50:51] Patrick Sammon: That was her first true solo?
[50:54] Allyson Alamode: Her first, that was her first true solo.
[50:55] Patrick Sammon: Yeah.
[50:56] Allyson Alamode: And she had like, a solo feature in like, Bad Romance, but she didn't really get much. And like, yeah, Boy Is Mine and Like A Virgin.
[51:04] Patrick Sammon: Yeah, Boy, yeah, Like A Virgin for sure comes to mind.
[51:08] Allyson Alamode: But yeah, but like, this is, oh my god, I like, literally almost just want to play back everything that you just said again, and just say it from my own mouth.
[51:19] Patrick Sammon: It was just like, that was, that was really, really well put.
[51:21] Allyson Alamode: That it was like, it really does feel like, that this like, payoff of like, hey, she was like, working toward something that she wanted to be noticed. This kind of Nothingburger character, which could have been could have easily been written out, played by a different actress. Like, no offense, Matt, you know, like, could have just like, kind of just been like, pushed to the wayside.
[51:44] Patrick Sammon: And just like, we are getting replaced with a new character, whatever.
[51:48] Allyson Alamode: But like, really just like, proved herself. And like, this is such a big moment, because this is definitely was, so this is the beginning of season two. So like, this is peak, like viewership, that they are like, taking such a risk.
[52:10] Patrick Sammon: I was gonna say, yes.
[52:10] Allyson Alamode: On like, at a competition episode that it's like, let's put out this character that we don't know to be a fan favorite yet, you know. But like, let's like, this is definitely like, Rachel's slot that we are giving to this character that is, up until this point, just a side character, but giving her a full damn solo.
[52:33] Patrick Sammon: I think they realized too, that they needed to like, diversify it a bit in terms of like, they could, I mean, but they couldn't, they couldn't just keep doing the same thing over and over again.
[52:45] Allyson Alamode: And it was, and I think that they even made a nod to that in this episode by like, you know, having the other competing Glee clubs be like, carbon copies of them. Like, they had the old people sing like, a rock song, and then they had like, the Mercedes type cast person sing something. And so they were kind of, I think like, telling the audience like, if you like the show, like, we can't just keep doing the same thing we always do. But like, lucky for you, and for us, we had an amazing casting director, Robert Ulrich, who found all these amazing people that can sing for you.
[53:19] Patrick Sammon: Yeah, yeah, that are so talented in so many different ways.
[53:23] Allyson Alamode: It makes me think of like, people that get like, on the show that get their big break, their moment to shine, and it's either gonna like, catapult them into like, something bigger. So what comes to mind is something like, sadder is that when they debuted the Warblers without Blaine, I feel like the reviews, like, maybe on like, not from like, actual Gleeks, but the reviews were not good.
[53:49] Patrick Sammon: Because it was like, that person's debut moment.
[53:52] Allyson Alamode: You're talking about?
[53:53] Patrick Sammon: I'm talking about Kurt Megan.
[53:54] Allyson Alamode: Wait, wait.
[53:55] Patrick Sammon: Oh, okay.
[53:57] Allyson Alamode: Yes, uh-huh.
[53:58] Patrick Sammon: And so like, that was like, his moment, like, that could have been his like, I mean, he's very successful now, Starkid and whatnot.
[54:05] Allyson Alamode: But like...
[54:05] Patrick Sammon: He's fine.
[54:06] Allyson Alamode: Yeah, he's totally fine. But I meant like, in that moment, he was like, oh, like, I've just been a side... Kind of, it's a little parallel. Like, he's been a side character, he's just been a Warbler, and now he's gonna take over for Blaine, and he gets his one shot to do Uptown Girl.
[54:18] Patrick Sammon: I personally love the Warblers Uptown Girl.
[54:21] Allyson Alamode: Oh, yeah, me too. I didn't really know it was not liked, but yeah.
[54:26] Patrick Sammon: I don't know about, from the Gleeks, I am one of the Gleeks that have watched it live. So I remember him posting either on Tumblr, or like, kind of, or maybe Twitter, like, talking about like, oh, like, this kind of stuff. Like, he was like, a screenshot of a review of like, somebody like, reviewing that, oh, it falls flat. Like, it's not, it's no daring, like, just being very critical of it. And so that's like, the opposite of what happened with Nya, and her, this being her debut, whatever, moment in a competition. And now, like, it took her all the way to main cast, you know what I'm saying? Like, it elevated her performance on the show.
[55:05] Allyson Alamode: And she, why am I saying this? She did a big Sean out of it.
[55:09] Patrick Sammon: Come on.
[55:11] Allyson Alamode: And she got a big Sean.
[55:12] Patrick Sammon: And then, she got a big Sean out of it.
[55:16] Allyson Alamode: And then we got Scarlett.
[55:17] Patrick Sammon: That episode, you can cut.
[55:18] Allyson Alamode: I can cut that.
[55:20] Patrick Sammon: Why did my mind go there?
[55:25] Allyson Alamode: I'm like, I love Nya so much. And she, and you're like, well, she did a big Sean.
[55:30] Patrick Sammon: She did a big Sean.
[55:32] Allyson Alamode: Ariana Grande was on her couch.
[55:36] Patrick Sammon: I don't even know where that came from.
[55:40] Allyson Alamode: But yeah, no.
[55:43] Patrick Sammon: Interesting parallel.
[55:45] Allyson Alamode: Really fascinating. There's some random Tumblr lore that I remember, like, stuff cut, like, I'll remember what the streets were saying at the time. Like, I remember when Somebody I Used to Know came out, Gautier was like, fuck this, man. Like, he hated it.
[55:58] Patrick Sammon: Wait, Gautier didn't like Somebody That I Used to Know?
[56:03] Allyson Alamode: I don't think so. Maybe he'll try to reframe the narrative nowadays. But I think, first, yeah. He didn't like his own, like, that his own-
[56:11] Patrick Sammon: Their rendition.
[56:12] Allyson Alamode: I don't think he liked their rendition.
[56:13] Patrick Sammon: I don't think he cared about that Glee covered it, is what you're saying, right, Alison?
[56:18] Allyson Alamode: Well, no, I think it was, like, his reaction to the Glee cover. Not like, fuck, like, I'm being dramatic. But, like, I think he was critical of it.
[56:23] Patrick Sammon: I didn't know this either.
[56:24] Allyson Alamode: It's fine. I mean, like, I didn't really like the Glee version. It was fine.
[56:29] Patrick Sammon: It's in the worst episode of Glee.
[56:32] Allyson Alamode: I just remember when they announced that they were going to be covering Somebody That I Used to Know, that I, like, really weirdly wanted, not weirdly, because this makes sense for me, actually, that I would have rather Quinn sing the- who was that, Kimbra?
[56:47] Patrick Sammon: Now and then I think of all the times you screwed me over.
[56:50] Allyson Alamode: I needed Diana on that part.
[56:53] Patrick Sammon: That was a good, like, Diana and Rory together.
[56:56] Allyson Alamode: Maybe Diana and Rory?
[56:58] Patrick Sammon: I think that worked.
[56:59] Allyson Alamode: Because I can never-
[57:02] Patrick Sammon: You're all in that.
[57:05] Allyson Alamode: I can never, and it's not on purpose, I can never say, like, two characters' names or two actors' names. It's always, like, emerged in my mind where it's, like, it's-
[57:15] Patrick Sammon: It's Diana and Rory.
[57:17] Allyson Alamode: I do that too.
[57:17] Patrick Sammon: I do that too.
[57:20] Allyson Alamode: The only note that I wrote down here is the Heather Morris butt slap at the beginning, which I'm obsessed with. I think I meant to ask her last time.
[57:26] Patrick Sammon: Carousel.
[57:32] Allyson Alamode: You know, the butt slap at the beginning where she was, like, she's- they're fixing the hat on-
[57:38] Patrick Sammon: Oh, yes.
[57:39] Allyson Alamode: On Naya, and then Heather, like, slaps her butt. And I doubt that she remembers if it was scripted or not, but I'm, like, I need to know.
[57:48] Patrick Sammon: That can't be scripted, they're teenagers!
[57:50] Allyson Alamode: Yeah, but, like, I could-
[57:52] Patrick Sammon: Can you see Zac Woodley being, like-
[57:54] Allyson Alamode: And then, like, just, like-
[57:55] Patrick Sammon: And then smack her ass.
[57:56] Allyson Alamode: And then just slap her butt.
[57:59] Patrick Sammon: Like, he was probably like, like, you're a football player. Just, like, you know, like, get ready for the game.
[58:06] Allyson Alamode: All the micro-Britannia moments are what made me so giddy. And then also I love, which maybe you've talked about, when I think Harry picks up Brit-
[58:17] Patrick Sammon: Harry picks up Britney.
[58:18] Allyson Alamode: Picks up Britney, yeah.
[58:20] Patrick Sammon: Exactly, exactly, exactly.
[58:20] Allyson Alamode: She, like, feels the need to brush the hair out of her mouth and then do a flip, as if it's not about to get back in her face. Love the choice.
[58:30] Patrick Sammon: That's such a good Harry picked up Britney.
[58:32] Allyson Alamode: When Harry picked up Britney.
[58:34] Patrick Sammon: And she was getting a little hairy herself, if you know what I mean.
[58:37] Allyson Alamode: Oh!
[58:42] Patrick Sammon: Y'all, the vibes of this episode.
[58:45] Allyson Alamode: What are we even doing?
[58:47] Patrick Sammon: Do we have anything else to say about Valerie?
[58:49] Allyson Alamode: Patrick, I cannot read.
[58:51] Allyson Alamode: So, I just want to say, like, I think it's really interesting how Naya Rivera's character, Santana, evolved throughout the series. She started off as this really antagonistic character, and then we got to see so much depth to her.
[59:21] Allyson Alamode: And I think one of the standout moments for me was when she finally came out and embraced her identity. It was such a powerful moment for representation.
[59:41] Allyson Alamode: I mean, the way she navigated her relationships, especially with Brittany, was just so beautifully done. It really resonated with a lot of fans.
[1:00:01] Allyson Alamode: And let's not forget her voice! I mean, she had some of the best solos on the show. Her rendition of "Valerie" is still one of my favorites.
[1:00:21] Allyson Alamode: I think it’s also important to mention how she brought humor to the show. Her one-liners and sass were just iconic.
[1:00:41] Allyson Alamode: And speaking of humor, I remember that episode where she tried to get back at Finn by pretending to be a cheerleader. That was hilarious!
[1:00:51] Allyson Alamode: But seriously, her character had such a journey, and I think it really showcased Naya's talent as an actress.
[1:01:01] Allyson Alamode: I also loved how she interacted with the other characters. Her dynamic with Rachel was always so entertaining.
[1:01:21] Allyson Alamode: And then there was that moment in "The Trouble with Young Adults" where she really showed her vulnerability. It was such a turning point for her character.
[1:01:41] Allyson Alamode: I think what made Santana so relatable was her struggle with acceptance, both from her peers and herself.
[1:01:51] Allyson Alamode: And the way Naya portrayed that struggle was just so authentic. It really struck a chord with a lot of viewers.
[1:02:11] Allyson Alamode: Plus, her friendship with Kurt was another highlight. They had such a unique bond that added depth to both of their characters.
[1:02:21] Allyson Alamode: I think it’s also worth mentioning how she stood up for herself and others. Her character had such a strong sense of justice.
[1:02:31] Allyson Alamode: And that moment when she confronted the bullying was so powerful. It really showed her growth.
[1:02:51] Allyson Alamode: I just think Naya brought so much to the role, and her legacy will always be remembered by Gleeks everywhere.
[1:03:01] Allyson Alamode: And, of course, we can't forget her amazing performances. Each song she sang was just filled with emotion.
[1:03:11] Allyson Alamode: I mean, her version of "I Will Survive" was just epic. It gave me chills!
[1:03:31] Allyson Alamode: And the way she could switch from being fierce to vulnerable in a matter of seconds was just incredible.
[1:03:41] Allyson Alamode: I think that’s what made her such a beloved character. She was multi-dimensional and relatable.
[1:03:51] Allyson Alamode: And honestly, I think the show wouldn’t have been the same without her.
[1:04:11] Allyson Alamode: I just wish we could have seen more of her journey and growth throughout the series.
[1:04:21] Allyson Alamode: But I’m so grateful for the moments we did get to see. They were truly special.
[1:04:31] Allyson Alamode: And I think it’s important to celebrate her contributions to the show and the impact she had on fans.
[1:04:41] Allyson Alamode: So, here's to Naya Rivera and the unforgettable legacy of Santana Lopez!
[1:04:51] Allyson Alamode: I think we can all agree that she will always hold a special place in our hearts.
[1:05:01] Allyson Alamode: And I’m excited to see how her performances will continue to inspire future generations.
[1:05:11] Allyson Alamode: It’s just a testament to her talent and the impact of her character on the show.
[1:05:21] Allyson Alamode: And I think that’s what makes Glee such a timeless series. The characters and their journeys resonate with so many people.
[1:05:31] Allyson Alamode: I mean, who doesn’t love a good underdog story, right?
[1:05:41] Allyson Alamode: And Santana was definitely one of those underdogs who rose to the occasion.
[1:05:51] Allyson Alamode: I just love how the show tackled so many important issues through its characters.
[1:06:01] Allyson Alamode: And Naya’s portrayal of Santana was a huge part of that.
[1:06:11] Allyson Alamode: It’s just so refreshing to see characters that reflect real-life struggles and triumphs.
[1:06:21] Allyson Alamode: And I think that’s why Glee continues to have such a dedicated fanbase.
[1:06:41] Allyson Alamode: So, let’s keep celebrating Naya and all the joy she brought to the show.
[1:06:51] Allyson Alamode: I think it’s important to remember her not just as an actress, but as a person who made a difference.
[1:07:01] Allyson Alamode: And I hope we can continue to honor her legacy in the years to come.
[1:07:11] Allyson Alamode: So, what are some of your favorite moments from Santana? I’d love to hear them!
[1:07:21] Allyson Alamode: I think we could talk about her character all day long!
[1:07:31] Allyson Alamode: And I’m sure there are so many other fans who feel the same way.
[1:07:41] Allyson Alamode: It’s just a testament to how impactful her character was on the show.

[1:13:11] Allyson Alamode: I think it’s a great way to honor her memory and keep her legacy alive.
[1:13:34] Allyson Alamode: And she fought for something, and now we get a problem. And we just, we tear it apart. I think, I think I'm done. Do we have anything else to say about "Problem"?
[1:13:46] Patrick Sammon: I don't think so.
[1:13:47] Allyson Alamode: She didn't stand a chance.
[1:13:49] Patrick Sammon: She did not stand a chance.
[1:13:51] Allyson Alamode: Well, she did stand a chance because she made it to round four.
[1:13:54] Patrick Sammon: She made it all the way here. Who's coming on next week?
[1:13:58] Allyson Alamode: Uh, should Ian come on? I've been really bad at booking episodes. I don't know who's coming on next week. Um, but I can make that happen.
[1:14:07] Patrick Sammon: Yeah, no, like you need to ask him.
[1:14:10] Allyson Alamode: Okay. Okay. Um, do we want to vote?
[1:14:14] Patrick Sammon: Um, yeah.
[1:14:17] Allyson Alamode: Okay.
[1:14:19] Patrick Sammon: Sure.
[1:14:20] Allyson Alamode: I'll go first.
[1:14:21] Patrick Sammon: Go ahead.
[1:14:23] Allyson Alamode: I'm voting for "Valerie."
[1:14:28] Patrick Sammon: Allyson.
[1:14:29] Allyson Alamode: I'm voting for "Valerie."
[1:14:33] Patrick Sammon: Perfect.
[1:14:36] Allyson Alamode: Should I just vote for "Problem"?
[1:14:37] Patrick Sammon: Just, I knew you were gonna say that. I knew you were gonna say that.
[1:14:43] Allyson Alamode: No, I can't. I can't. It's "Valerie." It's "Valerie." It's "Valerie." Um, and that was really fun. I'm gonna be, I think I'm gonna be like very plain to the rest of this episode because I know that took all of my charisma. That was an insane poll. I have nothing left to give.
[1:14:59] Patrick Sammon: We're exclusively doing Naya covers this evening.
[1:15:03] Allyson Alamode: Ooh.
[1:15:04] Patrick Sammon: Um, because we have a season four Naya.
[1:15:08] Allyson Alamode: Ooh, "Girl on Fire"?
[1:15:09] Patrick Sammon: Not a solo.
[1:15:10] Allyson Alamode: Oh.
[1:15:11] Patrick Sammon: No.
[1:15:11] Allyson Alamode: I don't know what's in the black and still. Sorry. Sorry. I don't listen to this podcast.
[1:15:17] Patrick Sammon: Perfect. You're in the right place.
[1:15:19] Allyson Alamode: Mine?
[1:15:20] Patrick Sammon: It's not mine.
[1:15:23] Allyson Alamode: Here. Oh, you said season?
[1:15:25] Patrick Sammon: Mine is a season four. Um, not.
[1:15:29] Allyson Alamode: There are worse things?
[1:15:30] Patrick Sammon: It is there are worse things.
[1:15:32] Allyson Alamode: I thought you said solo. Okay, I do love this one.
[1:15:34] Patrick Sammon: I said not a solo. Here we go.
[1:15:35] Allyson Alamode: I was kind of manifesting this one.
[1:15:42] Patrick Sammon: Why was I like still like mad at Brittany watching that? I was like, you're the screamer.
[1:15:49] Allyson Alamode: Looking at her.
[1:15:52] Patrick Sammon: We told the tech kids to turn your mic all the way down for that performance.
[1:15:58] Allyson Alamode: Um, there were things I could do. What are we saying?
[1:16:03] Patrick Sammon: It's so cunt.
[1:16:04] Allyson Alamode: It's so good.
[1:16:08] Patrick Sammon: It's really perfect.
[1:16:09] Allyson Alamode: I think the antithesis of the Idina Menzel one where it's like a trio.
[1:16:15] Patrick Sammon: Constant craving.
[1:16:16] Allyson Alamode: Thank you.
[1:16:18] Patrick Sammon: It's yeah, it's the there's the good side, which is here and then the bad side.
[1:16:22] Allyson Alamode: Do we like "Constant Craving" or do we not? Because I couldn't tell where you're going with that.
[1:16:25] Patrick Sammon: I meant like in terms of like, it's three people singing.
[1:16:37] Allyson Alamode: It kind of is like kind of like no "Constant Craving" is kind of like no good deed kind of like the way it's like she's like...
[1:16:47] Patrick Sammon: "Constant Craving."
[1:16:50] Allyson Alamode: But I feel like people look down people being me on "Constant Craving" because it's like an older lady singing about a minor, theoretically. And so it's I'm just thinking in terms of like a trio singing about their each plot line. Oh, yeah. And involving like a random teacher or something.
[1:17:09] Patrick Sammon: Totally.
[1:17:09] Allyson Alamode: But then there's this one.
[1:17:11] Patrick Sammon: No, yeah, good.
[1:17:14] Allyson Alamode: I feel like good. Keep going. Keep going.
[1:17:19] Patrick Sammon: Scream out into the mic.
[1:17:22] Allyson Alamode: This song, this song. I obviously love Naya's vocal, but I feel like the whole time I'm just looking forward to that final harmony with all three of them because that's like, yeah, yeah, that they harmonize. So like, it's a big payoff for me personally. I don't think I've listened to the full MP.
[1:17:38] Patrick Sammon: I was about to say, like, is there more?
[1:17:42] Allyson Alamode: You've never listened?
[1:17:45] Patrick Sammon: I don't think I have either.
[1:17:47] Allyson Alamode: What are you doing?
[1:17:49] Patrick Sammon: Am I missing out? Am I asleep? That's my homework assignment.
[1:17:51] Allyson Alamode: I think that like they it's I don't think that they cut anything for the episode version, but just like stream it. Why not?
[1:17:58] Patrick Sammon: Yeah, this is one of those songs where I'm like, if I'm drunk enough, I could karaoke this maybe.
[1:18:04] Allyson Alamode: Wait, that is a good. Let's meet up. Who's who?
[1:18:07] Patrick Sammon: Who's?
[1:18:07] Allyson Alamode: Okay, wait, who's who?
[1:18:11] Patrick Sammon: I feel like I'm Kate Hudson, obviously.
[1:18:14] Allyson Alamode: I kind of I kind of want to be Kate Hudson. Okay, okay.
[1:18:17] Patrick Sammon: You can be Kate Hudson.
[1:18:20] Allyson Alamode: I don't know. It's okay. I think I think I actually want to be Alex Newell because I think Alex Newell has like the most intriguing part with the oh my god.
[1:18:33] Patrick Sammon: I don't I don't steal.
[1:18:39] Allyson Alamode: Do you think it was intentional to cut to Rachel when she's like, I could stay home every night, and then it cuts to her while her man is getting, you know?
[1:18:50] Patrick Sammon: Well, I can't stay home every night because she's a raccoon because she has raccoon eyes and raccoons go out at night.
[1:18:55] Allyson Alamode: I was like, where is this going?
[1:18:58] Patrick Sammon: But I it was always so jarring when it cuts to Kate Hudson and Brody is shirtless because it's like, where are your clothes at? You know that TikTok?
[1:19:11] Allyson Alamode: No, I remember watching this episode live and that this gagged me.
[1:19:16] Patrick Sammon: What are they doing?
[1:19:22] Allyson Alamode: What's the dog doing?
[1:19:23] Patrick Sammon: It feels like we're so distracted by how good they sound like we're I'm the plot of the song doesn't really fit to any person's plot.
[1:19:34] Allyson Alamode: No, it doesn't.
[1:19:35] Patrick Sammon: Like at all.
[1:19:36] Allyson Alamode: Yeah.
[1:19:36] Patrick Sammon: And like, to the to the Britannia plot.
[1:19:41] Allyson Alamode: To the Kate Hudson plot it does because she says I can hurt someone like me out of spider jealousy.
[1:19:46] Patrick Sammon: Have you seen season four?
[1:19:49] Allyson Alamode: Of what?
[1:19:51] Patrick Sammon: Getter.
[1:19:52] Allyson Alamode: Of Degrassi.
[1:19:53] Patrick Sammon: That's the season that Drake is shot.
[1:19:56] Allyson Alamode: Of course.
[1:19:59] Patrick Sammon: Your mom's pasta sauce anyway.
[1:20:02] Allyson Alamode: You wouldn't get it, Andrew.
[1:20:03] Patrick Sammon: You wouldn't get it.
[1:20:05] Allyson Alamode: Not Degrassi girl.
[1:20:07] Patrick Sammon: But yeah, the Britannia plot like other than the Kate Hudson saying that it if you're I'm trying to like squeeze it into like make it fit like it's like cutting to Britney dramatically and what are you not really saying about anything?
[1:20:20] Allyson Alamode: Alex's plot or Unique's plot like it fit pretty well.
[1:20:24] Patrick Sammon: But like, yeah, the.
[1:20:26] Allyson Alamode: I think just the melancholy fit but not like we're not really singing about the woes of being cut from us.
[1:20:33] Patrick Sammon: Okay.
[1:20:36] Allyson Alamode: I've talked often on this podcast about how I like love season four, especially the first part. And I think I've shared before that like I was in the same grade as like the Glee cast. So like season four, when they were in college for the first year, I was also in college for the first year.
[1:21:04] Patrick Sammon: And you bet your sweet ass.
[1:21:04] Allyson Alamode: I was coming home for like the ballplay and like the spring or whatever and being like everybody. I'm back and I'm going to like somehow like make this about me. And so I think that's why I really like season four because truly it doesn't have me. I'm like all these people are kind of like they're excited about their new lives. But like also like missing their old lives and the like ties back to, you know, their high school and their friends. And then like you kind of go back. And I really think that I should have gotten the chance to sub in last minute in one of my high school's productions.
[1:21:36] Patrick Sammon: I should have just come on stage.
[1:21:36] Allyson Alamode: One of my friends was, they did Grease.
[1:21:39] Patrick Sammon: They did Grease.
[1:21:40] Allyson Alamode: Teen Angel?
[1:21:42] Patrick Sammon: Yeah, one of my one of my friends was Teen Angel.
[1:21:45] Allyson Alamode: Teen Angel is always like a like bit kind of. It's like a teacher. Celebrity kind of.
[1:21:48] Patrick Sammon: I remember going to another high school's production.
[1:21:54] Allyson Alamode: That's why they gave Darren Teen Angel.
[1:21:57] Patrick Sammon: Right.
[1:21:59] Allyson Alamode: Where did that Darren Criss man come from?
[1:22:03] Patrick Sammon: Who gave you the link?
[1:22:07] Allyson Alamode: No, I remember going to like when I was in high school, another high school's production of Grease. First, I don't know why. And like one of their teachers was the Teen Angel. And everyone was cheering. And me and my friends were like, who?
[1:22:19] Patrick Sammon: I don't know who this is.
[1:22:20] Allyson Alamode: Right.
[1:22:21] Patrick Sammon: Yeah.
[1:22:21] Allyson Alamode: But yeah, I mean, if we're talking about plot, it doesn't make sense, especially with Tina right there or anyone else of that's enrolled in the school.
[1:22:32] Patrick Sammon: But it's because I had a contract and it said, let me sing my ass off.
[1:22:38] Allyson Alamode: And then they said, OK, we're going to fulfill your contract.
[1:22:41] Patrick Sammon: And she got Big Sean out of it.
[1:22:43] Allyson Alamode: In an episode.
[1:22:44] Patrick Sammon: But they said, they said specifically, they said, if you act up in the dog episode, it's next season.
[1:22:50] Allyson Alamode: And then she's like, we're going to have a dog episode.
[1:22:56] Patrick Sammon: She's reading the fine print.
[1:22:57] Allyson Alamode: Like, is this a typo?
[1:22:59] Patrick Sammon: And then it's like, watch yourself.
[1:23:01] Allyson Alamode: What could possibly happen in a dog?
[1:23:04] Patrick Sammon: What the dog doing?
[1:23:05] Allyson Alamode: What the dog doing?
[1:23:08] Patrick Sammon: Oh my God.
[1:23:09] Allyson Alamode: OK, wait. No, but I love this song. And it's really big. The harmonies together are nice. And I think it's like a perfect song to have made it this far.
[1:23:19] Patrick Sammon: But I think it's like a song where we pull like a "Faithfully" or something.
[1:23:25] Allyson Alamode: I'm like, all right, perfect.
[1:23:26] Patrick Sammon: Oh, correct.
[1:23:28] Allyson Alamode: I feel that.
[1:23:29] Patrick Sammon: But I want I wanted to go one more round. Personally, I think I'm more than more than both of you.
[1:23:37] Allyson Alamode: If I know I like it. I just like I think it's there are so many. This song to me is one that I really like, but it's not a happy hitter. Like, I don't think it can beat a lot of heavy hitters.
[1:23:44] Patrick Sammon: I don't think it can stand toe to toe with them at all.
[1:23:50] Allyson Alamode: But I like it. But it's really good to the next round.
[1:23:53] Patrick Sammon: If the next one's a dud.
[1:23:56] Allyson Alamode: Um, do you remember I like in high school, I would like there would be songs like this that I would just like tweet the lyrics to and like actually looking back, it haunts me that I'm like, oh my God, why was I so dramatic putting my followers?
[1:24:08] Patrick Sammon: Why was I putting my followers through this?
[1:24:10] Allyson Alamode: That like they were just like pay bearing witness to me just like going through it and just like, like, especially if you don't know this song that it's like, what the fuck is he on about?
[1:24:21] Patrick Sammon: Okay, let's pick the most cringey lyric that he possibly could have tweeted out of that.
[1:24:27] Allyson Alamode: Out of that song.
[1:24:28] Patrick Sammon: But to cry in front of you, there are worse things I could do would be pretty bad.
[1:24:32] Allyson Alamode: And I think that was it.
[1:24:34] Patrick Sammon: I literally think that was or or or I don't feel I don't lie, but I was gonna say, I will be pretty bad.
[1:24:41] Allyson Alamode: Team is like on Twitter. And he's like, what the fuck is this kid talking?
[1:24:45] Patrick Sammon: I can feel like now what the hell?
[1:24:52] Allyson Alamode: Um, also, my favorite you already know who I'm about to bring up the man watching Alex Newell walking down the steps.
[1:25:00] Patrick Sammon: Do you know what I'm talking about?
[1:25:02] Allyson Alamode: Like everybody else that all the extras are like they're they're following the instructions that like they need to be watching the stage. This one man on the literal aisle is like, wait, what?
[1:25:15] Patrick Sammon: Sorry to make this reference again. What's the dog doing with Alex?
[1:25:21] Allyson Alamode: Like he like is in the subconscious like because it's obviously like maybe like a dream. And then this man has somehow like inserted himself in the dream.
[1:25:25] Patrick Sammon: And so now he's like, wait, where? This is like the Britannia of me against the music.
[1:25:34] Allyson Alamode: How do they share a combined dream?
[1:25:36] Patrick Sammon: Yeah, yeah.
[1:25:37] Allyson Alamode: And somehow he is also in unique stream.
[1:25:41] Patrick Sammon: He's in unique stream.
[1:25:42] Allyson Alamode: So love him. And also I want to say Glee as an episode is one of the last perfect Glee episodes. Like I think that like, it's like when you watch it, it's like such a really just like a well crafted, well written episode. Like there are there's so much plot that they have to take on within this episode that they do so well.
[1:26:01] Patrick Sammon: And like it just like it really works as an ensemble this entire episode.
[1:26:14] Allyson Alamode: And I think that this this song specifically the way that it integrates three plot lines into one. How long is this number?
[1:26:22] Patrick Sammon: A little over two minutes that it's like, oh, like it's moving along three plot lines. But like I said, it's moving along this plot line, and you feel the emotion rather than taking the song literally, but you still are understanding what's going on within these plot lines, despite them not literally singing, which Glee often does, like the words aren't literally translating to what they're going through.
[1:26:44] Allyson Alamode: And I kind of like it that way, because it's all like, almost subject like, yeah, you get it. We don't have to spoon feed you these plot lines, right? You can understand the emotion coming from them as they sing.
[1:26:57] Patrick Sammon: And it's really interesting, because like the unique plot line, this is the end of the unique plot line, like that, like, we are at different stages of the unique plot line, the Britannia plot line, and the Kate Hudson and Rachel plot line, that it's like, we are getting the end of unique, we're like in a weird like middle area with, with, with Britannia, and we're also in a weird middle area with, like, this is like right before the climax of Leah and Kate.
[1:27:29] Allyson Alamode: Dare I say all three are taking place in different forms of reality.
[1:27:35] Patrick Sammon: So like, Naya, like Santana is literally singing, she's performing, she's on stage, everyone's watching her.
[1:27:39] Allyson Alamode: Unique, maybe let's say they're coming back from the bathroom right at that moment.
[1:27:44] Patrick Sammon: So maybe they are literally walking down the aisle, but they're not singing along, but they're, you know, kind of in their head singing.
[1:27:50] Allyson Alamode: So it's semi realistic.
[1:27:51] Patrick Sammon: And then the Kate Hudson, what that's, I don't think that's actually, we're not performing, they're just doing it. You know what I mean?
[1:27:56] Allyson Alamode: Like, that's a completely-
[1:27:59] Patrick Sammon: No, I think they're practicing dancing.
[1:28:01] Allyson Alamode: Right, but she's not performing that, you know, it's kind of imaginary.
[1:28:16] Patrick Sammon: A 2.0 in Glees that they did do a good job of like, okay, if the Glee Club's assignment is Britney Spears that episode, why is Rachel singing "Oops! I Did It Again?" Rachel gets a text from Tina that they're doing Britney that week again, you know? And the reason that Kate Hudson is singing "There Are Worse Things I Could Do" is because the conversation that Kate Hudson has with Colonel Rachel that she's like, go back because it's sweet. Our high school's doing Grease.
[1:28:42] Allyson Alamode: Yeah, so I think that she actually is singing "There Are Worse Things I Could Do."
[1:28:46] Patrick Sammon: Right, because she says, go back because it's your friends or go back because it's Grease. And she's like, I actually love Grease. I like Grease. Let's sing a Grease song. Brody, get freaking doing Grease. Your love interest. Thank you for the idea. There are worse things I could do.
[1:29:04] Allyson Alamode: I think there's a lot here. But are we ready to pull the last song of the episode?
[1:29:09] Patrick Sammon: I'm ready.
[1:29:10] Allyson Alamode: Yeah.
[1:29:11] Patrick Sammon: I'm nervous.
[1:29:12] Allyson Alamode: I want it to be "Paradise" because I want her to be safe.
[1:29:14] Patrick Sammon: I was gonna say, there's not a lot that this could win over for me.
[1:29:18] Allyson Alamode: Again, four for four. Naya.
[1:29:21] Patrick Sammon: Mine.
[1:29:22] Allyson Alamode: Yeah. Um, no, it's not a Santolo.
[1:29:26] Patrick Sammon: What else is she on? "Thriller"?
[1:29:29] Allyson Alamode: No, this is like, this is Heavy Hitter.
[1:29:32] Patrick Sammon: Oh.
[1:29:33] Allyson Alamode: Actually.
[1:29:34] Patrick Sammon: "Songbird."
[1:29:35] Allyson Alamode: You already know what this is.
[1:29:37] Patrick Sammon: Oh, "I Survive!"
[1:29:39] Allyson Alamode: "Survivor!"
[1:29:40] Patrick Sammon: Yes.
[1:29:42] Allyson Alamode: I love it.
[1:29:45] Patrick Sammon: Is that not a perfect competition number? Like choreo, costumes, hair, vocals, like everyone's giving, like, obviously we've talked about length. I love the silver.
[1:29:54] Allyson Alamode: The silver. And why did it take Idina Menzel to put Mercedes in a dress that matches everybody up until this point?
[1:30:06] Patrick Sammon: Idina Menzel understands Mercedes better than anybody.
[1:30:11] Allyson Alamode: Right. Can I ask the group a question? Sorry. Would you guys vote for this song or "Valerie" if they were against each other?
[1:30:19] Patrick Sammon: I guess we'll never know.
[1:30:21] Allyson Alamode: Recency bias. "Survivor" will survive.
[1:30:25] Patrick Sammon: That's crazy to me.
[1:30:27] Allyson Alamode: Is that crazy?
[1:30:29] Patrick Sammon: Yeah, to me. I don't think to other Gleeks because apparently this is the one I really like.
[1:30:34] Allyson Alamode: Having to decide that stresses me out because I don't know. I don't know.
[1:30:38] Patrick Sammon: We would have to talk at length because I can't. I'm not.
[1:30:42] Allyson Alamode: This has been a crazy Naya episode.
[1:30:46] Patrick Sammon: I know.
[1:30:47] Allyson Alamode: Exclusively.
[1:30:48] Patrick Sammon: I know. How do we like, I was trying to think of like a title of ep that includes that it's like four episodes, it's four things of Naya, but I can't think of any.
[1:30:59] Allyson Alamode: Naya forever.
[1:31:02] Patrick Sammon: OK, here's my take on this song. I don't think it should be in "Paradise." That's my take.
[1:31:09] Allyson Alamode: But then also, I really, really love this one. I think it's one where I don't have anything to say about it that hasn't been said before. Like it is just so excellent.
[1:31:21] Patrick Sammon: Yeah, it should have beaten the New Directions.
[1:31:27] Allyson Alamode: Yeah, like Blaine and Finn are annoying as fuck or whatever. Yeah, like Naya stomping is amazing. I just like it's really, really good. I just don't think it holds like the same level in my mind as like other Gleeks. Like do I think it should be in round four? Yes. Do I think it should be in round five? Yes. Do I think it's like better than like a lot of the other heavy hitters? I think it's like lower to me, but it's still really, really, really great. So I'll hand it over to you guys.
[1:31:57] Patrick Sammon: But then I don't know. Sorry, one last thing. You guys saying that you'd vote for this or "Valerie"? Like to me, that's where I'm like, it doesn't compute. It's like the Cynthia Erivo thing. I'm like, what's going on in everyone's brain? Because like, to me, this one gets like a few too many brownie points where I'm like, it's really, really, really great. But I don't think it's like better than some of the standards that I think should make it to the end.
[1:32:25] Allyson Alamode: I mean, go ahead.
[1:32:26] Patrick Sammon: Go ahead.
[1:32:27] Allyson Alamode: Oh.
[1:32:29] Patrick Sammon: I think that this song gets its points because it's like, what a inspired mashup that it's like they put these two incredible songs that when you listen to like, "I Will Survive" out in public or like "Survivor" out in public, like everyone that like, the mood is lifted. Everyone's singing along. Everyone's having the time of their life. And to have both of these songs mash up together in like, I remember like, having okay, this sounds whatever. The episode that I had with Adam Anders that like, like Adam Anders was like, hey, there would be certain episodes that in the script, it would be these two songs mashed together. And there's like, there's a three beat, there's a four beat, like Ryan Murphy, whoever wrote the episode, like didn't understand that these two songs don't go together.
And like, we would desperately need to make it work because like, this is what's written in the script. And I think that like, this like, worked so well. And like, they still pulled it out because like, on paper, a mashup of "Survivor" and "I Will Survive," like, sounds like, oh, what a what a great idea. I doubt that it's going to be executed as perfectly as like, it sounds in my head. But it actually is.
[1:34:00] Allyson Alamode: My big question is, while I was watching this, I was thinking about "Candles." Candles to me is...
[1:34:02] Patrick Sammon: I'm so sorry.
[1:34:03] Allyson Alamode: I'm really sorry to hear that.
[1:34:05] Patrick Sammon: Right. Because like, okay, I don't know if they did this on purpose. But when I was writing the original song, I thought like, they included "Candles" to almost justify the New Directions winning. That they like, do like these sort of things where it's like, okay, like, this is where they lost actually. It's confusing to me that like, they made "Survivor I Will Survive" so perfect.
[1:34:35] Allyson Alamode: Yes.
[1:34:37] Patrick Sammon: Well, like, I know that this is obviously such a big piece of discourse that it's like, the Troubletones should have won. We know. But like, I think it's just so weird that they didn't actually give like, a solidified reason as to why the Troubletones lost.
[1:34:52] Allyson Alamode: It's because Thin and Drain.
[1:34:54] Patrick Sammon: Well, okay.
[1:34:55] Allyson Alamode: Thin and Drain.
[1:34:56] Patrick Sammon: Thin and Drain.
[1:34:57] Allyson Alamode: We got this.
[1:34:58] Patrick Sammon: Right, right when I was like, wow, this is a like, the number had just started. And I was like, this is low-key a perfect performance. Right? When I was thinking that, it goes, we got this. And I'm like, okay. But also.
[1:35:11] Allyson Alamode: I always say this.
[1:35:12] Patrick Sammon: That's the reason that it lost is because Thin and Drain.
[1:35:18] Allyson Alamode: The justification.
[1:35:20] Patrick Sammon: You can't get away from that. They tried to shoehorn in a reason when in the next episode, I want to say, or maybe it's Michael.
[1:35:28] Allyson Alamode: It's Michael.
[1:35:29] Patrick Sammon: And they're like, oh.
[1:35:30] Allyson Alamode: Oh, yeah.
[1:35:31] Patrick Sammon: It's Michael.
[1:35:32] Allyson Alamode: And they said.
[1:35:33] Patrick Sammon: It's Michael.
[1:35:35] Allyson Alamode: Santana said like, oh, the 10 minute. What did she call them? Probably something like Mike and Tina, basically. Like, they went on for 10 minutes. Like, it was a lot. They basically were trying to be like, oh, well, their set was longer. So, like, people liked it more. So, I feel like that's the seed they were trying to plant after the fact. Because they knew that people at that point, people were like, exactly what you said. Like, it's not obvious who was supposed to win. As a matter of fact, I want to recount. Because it doesn't make any sense.
[1:36:04] Patrick Sammon: But then after that episode, they were like, let's throw in this, like, throwaway line to Santana that kind of semi justifies them winning. She said it was because Trouty, like, she's like, oh, because, like, Sam, like, did a body roll. And like, even my lady loins, lady loving loins felt something that was. And I think that they said, like, I think that in that line from Michael, Santana says that, like, the judge was, like, high as a kite or something like that. Something like that.
[1:36:33] Allyson Alamode: Something along those lines.
[1:36:34] Patrick Sammon: Something. And then Kurt's like, no, it's because we did Michael.
[1:36:37] Allyson Alamode: Yeah.
[1:36:38] Patrick Sammon: But I think we brought this up in a previous episode that I think it was, like, with Ian and Lena that, like, they, the justification that I feel could have happened, but they didn't write it into the episode that would have made sense, is that Sugar's dad contractually is like, I want my darling daughter to, like, have a solo at the competition. And like, that would have been, like, so much more fun to witness, to be like, okay, the intricacies of like, Sugar's dad being like, okay, Idina Menzel, like, I want my daughter to sing this song. And she's like, Idina Menzel's like, we have this perfect mashup. Like, it's going to destroy this, like, momentum that we have building if the other song in is Sugar singing, I don't know, "Sugar Sugar," you know, or something like that.
[1:37:29] Allyson Alamode: Honey, honey.
[1:37:30] Patrick Sammon: But, honey, honey. But, I don't know, that's my feel about it.
[1:37:37] Allyson Alamode: Well, the whole thing is that, like, they won, the New Directions has won with the power of friendship. Like, that's literally what as an audience we're supposed to.
[1:37:44] Patrick Sammon: Yeah.
[1:37:45] Allyson Alamode: As an audience, like, what we're supposed to believe is that, like, them all coming together under, like, hard circumstances is, like, the reason why, like, they are better.
[1:37:57] Patrick Sammon: The episode is so, like, them getting Sam back. And they're like, Sam is our missing piece. And I'm like, I don't know if Sam was really vital to you guys winning ever.
[1:38:07] Allyson Alamode: His body roll.
[1:38:08] Patrick Sammon: I'm so sorry. Like.
[1:38:10] Allyson Alamode: Yeah.
[1:38:11] Patrick Sammon: Yeah.
[1:38:12] Allyson Alamode: So.
[1:38:13] Patrick Sammon: Because I'm not for sale.
[1:38:14] Allyson Alamode: And yet all the girls are still standing blame when he's against sex work.
[1:38:19] Patrick Sammon: I'm not for sale.
[1:38:21] Allyson Alamode: And you sold it.
[1:38:26] Patrick Sammon: Because I'm not for sale.
[1:38:27] Allyson Alamode: And you sold the calendar.
[1:38:28] Patrick Sammon: Since when? Fuck you, Blaine.
[1:38:30] Allyson Alamode: I don't have anything else to say. I just really love it. It's so, like, I feel like people don't think about it. It's so good.
[1:38:36] Patrick Sammon: Like, it's so, it's nearly.
[1:38:38] Allyson Alamode: No, people think about it.
[1:38:39] Patrick Sammon: It's perfect.
[1:38:40] Allyson Alamode: It's a paradise by the dashboard light. People think about it.
[1:38:42] Patrick Sammon: I think about it.
[1:38:43] Allyson Alamode: How far is this going to go, though?
[1:38:46] Patrick Sammon: Okay. Again, that's, like, kind of my, my worry with some of these where I don't have full trust in everyone who comes on. I know people probably feel the same about me. But, like, I'm like, when, like, you guys saying that, like, you would vote for this over "Valerie" makes me sick to my stomach because despite how good this is, it's like, it's not better than paradise. It's not better than "Valerie." It's really, really good. And it's, like, up there with them. But it's so obviously not better than those songs. So, like, whenever I vote a song through like this, I get, like, kind of scared.
[1:39:22] Allyson Alamode: Why is it not better?
[1:39:24] Patrick Sammon: I almost cried talking about "Valerie."
[1:39:26] Allyson Alamode: And you want me to explain?
[1:39:27] Patrick Sammon: Okay.
[1:39:28] Allyson Alamode: Okay.
[1:39:29] Patrick Sammon: You did cry when Patrick was talking about "Valerie."
[1:39:30] Allyson Alamode: I did. It did. It made me very misty. Listen, listen, but paradise, I talked my ass off about this. But, like, you know, it's, you know, maybe that's what it is. It's the power of friendship because they all are together singing and it's one of them nationals. And to me, it's a better number. I don't need to go on. This is so 2008. This is, like, season three. It's so 2008.
[1:39:49] Patrick Sammon: Which is when "Blame It On The Alcohol" came out.
[1:39:51] Allyson Alamode: Wait, did this, sorry, did this song lose and get voted back last round?
[1:39:59] Patrick Sammon: No, this song has never lost.
[1:40:01] Allyson Alamode: Okay. Because it won and paradise had to get voted back.
[1:40:05] Patrick Sammon: So in round one, "Survivor I Will Survive" won against "I Can't Fight This Feeling."
[1:40:13] Allyson Alamode: Well, yes.
[1:40:14] Patrick Sammon: Okay. Period. Amazing. "Survivor I Will Survive" in round two won against "Paradise by the Dashboard Light."
[1:40:23] Allyson Alamode: "Paradise by the Dashboard Light," of course, was voted back.
[1:40:26] Patrick Sammon: In round three, it won against "Anyway You Want It, Anyway You Want It, Love Intentions."
[1:40:33] Allyson Alamode: Ooh. I love that number.
[1:40:34] Patrick Sammon: I love that number.
[1:40:41] Allyson Alamode: I don't know what you're saying.
[1:40:42] Patrick Sammon: I said, I don't agree with that one either.
[1:40:46] Allyson Alamode: You would have voted "Anyway You Want It" over this?
[1:40:49] Patrick Sammon: It won't be long, yeah, till I'm in love, love.
[1:40:57] Allyson Alamode: No, no one, no one in that audience was saying, we got this fist bump.
[1:41:02] Patrick Sammon: They did got it. They were all shaking in their hands. Because the new direction was lost. But.
[1:41:06] Allyson Alamode: Yeah.
[1:41:07] Patrick Sammon: Still. No, so sometimes this happens where I get on and like, it sounds like I hate a number. It's like, this is like, top 20. This is so fucking good. But it makes me nervous because I don't trust my fellow Gleeks. And maybe I need to talk to someone about that outside of this room.
[1:41:25] Allyson Alamode: But you know that you're voting in this competition at the very least, yes?
[1:41:29] Patrick Sammon: Yeah, I'm saying it's like one of the best songs ever on Glee. But like, yeah, it has too much power. It shouldn't have been some of the songs that I beat.
[1:41:38] Allyson Alamode: I'm gonna.
[1:41:39] Patrick Sammon: There was a song, a song. There was a TikTok on my For You page. Like, I want to say yesterday. And it was a guy talking about how on Glee, like whenever they're at competitions, people immediately leap to their feet. And they haven't even been performing for 10 seconds. And he was like, yeah, I perform. And that never happens. That never happens. But I did notice in this.
[1:42:03] Allyson Alamode: I perform and no one ever leaps to their feet.
[1:42:05] Patrick Sammon: I'll have to send it to you. But I did notice in this one, the crowd leaped to their feet when the girls started dancing with each other. So, hey, gay rights.
[1:42:14] Allyson Alamode: Right, the protango of it all.
[1:42:16] Patrick Sammon: The protango.
[1:42:17] Allyson Alamode: And then the crowd immediately leapt to their feet.
[1:42:19] Patrick Sammon: Uh-huh.
[1:42:20] Allyson Alamode: I did have one note that said they didn't let Heather sing.
[1:42:25] Patrick Sammon: In this one.
[1:42:26] Allyson Alamode: Oh, Heather is not.
[1:42:27] Patrick Sammon: You know who is? Vanessa is on the track, but Heather isn't.
[1:42:30] Allyson Alamode: Because they knew.
[1:42:31] Patrick Sammon: What?
[1:42:32] Allyson Alamode: They muted her mic.
[1:42:35] Patrick Sammon: Heather actually was singing, like, an entire arrangement. And they just muted her mic. It was cut.
[1:42:41] Allyson Alamode: Wait, wait. I just want to confirm. Is Britney on this track at all?
[1:42:45] Patrick Sammon: But you can kind of hear her.
[1:42:47] Allyson Alamode: What?
[1:42:48] Patrick Sammon: Like, it sounds more like Britney than it does. I think she does at least the BGVs.
[1:42:59] Allyson Alamode: I'm a Survivor is Brittany. I'm a survivor, I'm not gonna give up.
[1:43:07] Patrick Sammon: Yeah, you can hear her. Yeah.
[1:43:11] Allyson Alamode: So, and you know what? The sound engineer did their job in that one. Just didn't boost her microphone. Okay, so do we want to vote? Do we have anything final to say?
[1:43:26] Patrick Sammon: I'll say that I am voting for this one. And I want it to go farther, but I'm nervous for next round. Because I have a feeling that people are going to vote this against some of my babies. And I'm very, very scared for the future. This song is very powerful. It's like, I'm trying to think of a good metaphor for this. But it's like letting something so dangerous out into the world. And it's like, I can't contain its power. Should we lock this song up so it doesn't hurt any of our babies?
[1:44:02] Allyson Alamode: It needs to be buffed in some way, or it needs to be like, I don't know.
[1:44:10] Patrick Sammon: You sound like the people that locked up Jean Grey in the new Spider-Man.
[1:44:14] Allyson Alamode: I was literally about to be like, make a superhero reference to the Spider-Man movie. But I was like, oh, this isn't. This isn't like, actually, I don't understand the reference. It's because like, well, in, you know what, we've talked too much. Also, when Andrew and I started chatting before you joined in, Allison, Andrew's like, do you want to make this a quick one? And I was like, as long as it's not over an hour and 45 minutes, we are...
[1:44:44] Patrick Sammon: Oh, two hours. It's okay. You're gonna cut half of it out anyway. I just want to talk about...
[1:44:55] Allyson Alamode: I'm also voting for Survivor. I will survive. This stomping. It's the stomping for me.
[1:45:01] Patrick Sammon: I'm still very sad about those things, though. Because I am. Yeah.
[1:45:08] Allyson Alamode: Because I'm gonna take us away with that. Like, say her eulogy.
[1:45:13] Patrick Sammon: Yeah, I'm just trying to think about the show tune representation, the Broadway representation. Yep, that's me. So I'm always thinking about the representation on the bracket. And you know, it is pretty good. I would say it's all right. There could be more. What are you wait? What are you looking at? Are there any more remaining? Are there any Glee songs on the clock?
[1:45:39] Allyson Alamode: Summer Nights is still here, right? Summer Nights is still here, but not from Glee proper. But yeah, right. Okay, sorry. I'm interested. I'm just looking at what There Are Worse Things I Could Do has taken out up until this point in round one, it was up against Afternoon Delight. I stream it. Oh, it's kind of like this really crazy run.
[1:46:09] Patrick Sammon: There Are Worse Things I Could Do won against You're the Top in round two. Why was that in round three? It won against I Still Believe, Super Bass. Interesting.
[1:46:30] Allyson Alamode: I'm happy that it had its run because I could totally have seen this song dying in the first round if it went against something like kind of more powerful. But I got ahead a few. I got ahead a few rounds.
[1:46:44] Patrick Sammon: Yeah. Huh? You know what I miss? I'm missing America right now. America at West Side Story. I'm thinking about Santana. I was like season. I think I killed that. Off the boats and on the trains. Welcome to America. That's what I love.
[1:47:10] Allyson Alamode: I know you do, Tina.
[1:47:16] Patrick Sammon: That part, the Rory stuff isn't in the song, though.
[1:47:22] Allyson Alamode: Oh, why? Oh, no, that's not the song. But I know you do is in the track.
[1:47:30] Patrick Sammon: That sound bite beat every quince on the clock. I'm surprised we didn't pull that one tonight. And Andrew voted for that because Robert Ulrich was a knife to his throat.
[1:47:43] Allyson Alamode: I will never know peace. I will never know. Okay, wait, wait, wait. Yeah, the Glock is going to be over. And I hope that we're still in contact. And it'll be in 10 years. And I will randomly text you and be like, remember when you did that shit?
[1:48:03] Patrick Sammon: Okay, wait, no, refresh my memory. What did you vote for? And why? What happened?
[1:48:08] Allyson Alamode: I voted for... he's referencing I voted for Take Care of Yourself over Come See About Me.
[1:48:14] Patrick Sammon: Crimes were committed.
[1:48:17] Allyson Alamode: I think the just listen to the last note of Take Care of Yourself. It's great. When they like make everyone like gagged. So like really drive the hit like the really dry. He's like, oh, he's really good.
[1:48:28] Patrick Sammon: And then Kurt's like rolling his eyes or whatever.
[1:48:33] Allyson Alamode: Yeah, okay. Well, and then Rachel saying that he is magical.
[1:48:38] Patrick Sammon: Yeah, yes. And then it's like, like a leprechaun.
[1:48:45] Allyson Alamode: Like a leprechaun Rachel, like a leprechaun.
[1:48:48] Patrick Sammon: Like a leprechaun. No, I told you guys when I met Dianna at Carlyle, I told her.
[1:48:54] Allyson Alamode: No, people don't know that you're joking. People don't know that you're joking.
[1:48:59] Patrick Sammon: Okay, anyway.
[1:49:03] Allyson Alamode: Did you vote, Patrick?
[1:49:05] Patrick Sammon: Yeah, I voted for the mashup. It was wonderful. I love that song.
[1:49:08] Allyson Alamode: Everybody voted for the mashup.
[1:49:10] Patrick Sammon: Survivor, I will survive.
[1:49:13] Allyson Alamode: I want to say one thing, though, which is like, I prayed for days like these. Like, I remember when I was on the first time I was on was a glistener episode. And I remember being like, so like, I just want a nice song. I just want a nice song. I just want a nice song. I did not get anything with Naya in it. And I only got to pick from two songs. And now a thousand years, I did. And all these years later, now it's like I got four nice songs in a row. Like I literally prayed for days like these.
[1:49:48] Allyson Alamode: You're eating good.
[1:49:50] Patrick Sammon: I eat I'm stuffed.
[1:49:54] Allyson Alamode: Yeah. Oh my god. Oops, all Naya.
[1:49:58] Patrick Sammon: Oops, all Naya.
[1:50:01] Allyson Alamode: This is actually my second. Oops, all Naya.
[1:50:03] Patrick Sammon: Wait, really? You've done oops, all Naya before?
[1:50:07] Allyson Alamode: Yes. Remember, we got something from the corner.
[1:50:09] Patrick Sammon: What does oops, all Naya mean?
[1:50:14] Allyson Alamode: Oh my god, you never, the cereal, the Captain Crunch cereal?
[1:50:16] Patrick Sammon: That like the crunch berries?
[1:50:23] Allyson Alamode: No, it's every song in the episode is Naya. I'm looking at all of your episodes, Allison. Where have you done oops, all Naya?
[1:50:25] Patrick Sammon: Wasn't the one with me and Lena? All Naya?
[1:50:29] Allyson Alamode: Oh, okay. So you've, no, not necessarily. Sorry.
[1:50:33] Patrick Sammon: Go ahead, drag me.
[1:50:34] Allyson Alamode: It was Summer Nights, Nutbush City Limits, My Man, and My Love is Your Love, Back to Black, and If I Die Young. It's a lot of Naya.
[1:50:41] Patrick Sammon: It was a lot of Naya.
[1:50:42] Allyson Alamode: All Naya. Yeah.
[1:50:44] Patrick Sammon: But you've never heard of the Captain Crunch, like crunch berry cereal. And then they came out with a oops, all berries. And it was just the berries from the Captain Crunch cereal. Oops, all berries.
[1:50:53] Allyson Alamode: You don't know this reference, Patrick?
[1:50:56] Patrick Sammon: I'm sorry. Like, are most of the Gleeks gonna know this reference? And I just have agonized.
[1:51:01] Allyson Alamode: You've never heard oops, all berries?
[1:51:02] Patrick Sammon: I think that most of the Gleeks do know that.
[1:51:04] Allyson Alamode: Okay, well, now you have to Photoshop Naya's face on an oops, all berries cereal box for the carousel. I'm not crazy.
[1:51:12] Patrick Sammon: Wait. Huh. A comment on the carousel if you understood the oops, all Naya reference.
[1:51:20] Allyson Alamode: I thought it was like, oops, I did it again. Am I aging myself? Is this a millennial thing?
[1:51:25] Patrick Sammon: No, I think that they still make oops, all berries. Anyway, in recap for this episode, I need to go to sleep. Valerie, why don't you come on over? I said this every round. Why don't you come on over to round five?
[1:51:39] Allyson Alamode: Problem we have we're done the problem resolved.
[1:51:44] Patrick Sammon: The problem is Mike.
[1:51:49] Allyson Alamode: People, people be in the streets celebrating when this episode gets posted.
[1:51:54] Patrick Sammon: People are going to be happy because a lot of people have been like, why the fuck is the song still only like it?
[1:51:59] Allyson Alamode: We killed it. You're welcome, Gleeks.
[1:52:00] Patrick Sammon: We killed it, you guys. There Are Worse Things I Could Do.
[1:52:06] Allyson Alamode: There's an easy one here.
[1:52:07] Patrick Sammon: But like, vote you out.
[1:52:09] Allyson Alamode: Like what you out? Yeah.
[1:52:11] Patrick Sammon: Survivor, I will survive.
[1:52:14] Allyson Alamode: Oops.
[1:52:16] Patrick Sammon: There's no winner. There's no winners.
[1:52:20] Allyson Alamode: Survivor, I will survive. You will survive until round five. And then we'll see. And then we'll talk about it.
[1:52:26] Allyson Alamode: Um, okay. Allison, do you have anything that you want to say to the Gleeks?
[1:52:30] Patrick Sammon: Yeah, my name is Chanty Beluga. You can follow me on...
[1:52:35] Allyson Alamode: No, we can't.
[1:52:38] Patrick Sammon: I was literally gonna be like, how can I sneak in Chanty Beluga?
[1:52:41] Allyson Alamode: No, I was gonna make Chanty Beluga.
[1:52:45] Patrick Sammon: Okay, well, you don't know Chanty Beluga.
[1:52:48] Allyson Alamode: How do you not know Chanty Beluga?
[1:52:50] Patrick Sammon: I don't think that I understand Chanty Beluga. Can you explain Chanty Beluga?
[1:52:55] Allyson Alamode: I think it's Chanty Beluga. And I'm on episode of Gleekily pod. You know, like oops, all berries, Andrew, where they're like, hey, can you actually explain it to me?
[1:53:06] Patrick Sammon: I can't be explained.
[1:53:08] Allyson Alamode: I think it's good. This is Chanty Beluga.
[1:53:11] Patrick Sammon: No, it literally is. This is the problem with you not looking at the stuff I sent you.
[1:53:18] Allyson Alamode: You were unprepared for this episode.
[1:53:20] Patrick Sammon: Because I prepared with lack of grievances.
[1:53:24] Allyson Alamode: But I don't watch Chanty Beluga.
[1:53:26] Patrick Sammon: Oh my god.
[1:53:27] Allyson Alamode: You are Chanty Beluga-less.
[1:53:28] Patrick Sammon: Oh, do you know who Paloma Diamond is?
[1:53:31] Allyson Alamode: I know who Paloma Diamond is.
[1:53:32] Patrick Sammon: Okay, well, like, I feel like that's the same thing. It's like, they just are. Like, it's not like, it's just a thing.
[1:53:38] Allyson Alamode: Wait, but Chanty Beluga isn't played because like, Paloma Diamond is being played by one actor. Like, is there someone playing Chanty Beluga?
[1:53:43] Patrick Sammon: I thought there was that one woman.
[1:53:47] Allyson Alamode: Diamond is a multi-Academy Award nominated actress. How dare you?
[1:53:54] Patrick Sammon: Chanty Beluga is a millennial woman whose name is Chanty Beluga.
[1:53:59] Allyson Alamode: I thought it was that white woman.
[1:54:00] Patrick Sammon: Not the white woman? The white woman who's like, hi, I'm Chanty Beluga and her...
[1:54:04] Allyson Alamode: Yeah, it's a millennial white woman who is inspiring.
[1:54:07] Patrick Sammon: Is she playing a person?
[1:54:09] Allyson Alamode: She's playing Chanty Beluga.
[1:54:12] Patrick Sammon: She is Chanty Beluga.
[1:54:14] Allyson Alamode: Okay, okay. Let's do your research.
[1:54:17] Patrick Sammon: I don't think that my answers have been...
[1:54:18] Allyson Alamode: Do people listen to the end? Do we get confirmation?
[1:54:22] Patrick Sammon: I think, I always think that people stop immediately after we vote the second competition.
[1:54:28] Allyson Alamode: If you're still listening, comment Chanty Beluga.
[1:54:32] Patrick Sammon: So we know you stayed till the end.
[1:54:35] Allyson Alamode: Allison, I love you.
[1:54:37] Patrick Sammon: I was like, is this too niche? Are people not going to know Chanty Beluga?
[1:54:41] Allyson Alamode: No, I was trying to figure out how I could throw this in the chat. And you know what? I just did it.
[1:54:45] Patrick Sammon: And you got it in.
[1:54:48] Allyson Alamode: I'm Allison Alamode on all platforms. I make silly videos, usually musical theater and Broadway related. So.
[1:54:57] Patrick Sammon: Perfect.
[1:54:58] Allyson Alamode: Incredible. Thank you so much for joining.
[1:55:01] Patrick Sammon: I feel really bad for not. I feel like I've been like, I'll like open up the group chat with you and Charlie. And it's just like, there's messages.
[1:55:13] Allyson Alamode: Yeah.
[1:55:14] Patrick Sammon: And I'm like, I don't know how to how I I'm sorry. I can't look at all right now.
[1:55:20] Allyson Alamode: Are both like single and just like sitting at home talking to each other. And you're like at a Broadway play. And I'm just like on my couch.
[1:55:30] Patrick Sammon: I want to go see Paranormal Activity on Broadway yesterday. And it came. It was here first.
[1:55:36] Allyson Alamode: So I yes, I've seen it.
[1:55:37] Patrick Sammon: You've seen it.
[1:55:38] Allyson Alamode: Yes, it was good. They got me a few times. I made the mistake of eating two gummies before that. And I almost had a panic.
[1:55:44] Patrick Sammon: Oh, not two gummies.
[1:55:47] Allyson Alamode: Yes, I have to lean to the person next to me and be like, can you please get it? I need to get like it was crazy.
[1:55:54] Patrick Sammon: It's so scary.
[1:55:54] Allyson Alamode: It reaches the point.
[1:55:55] Patrick Sammon: Wait, okay. Okay, wait, Elsa. Have you seen Two Strangers Carry Cake Across New York?
[1:55:59] Allyson Alamode: No, I haven't been to New York since 2024. So I'm trying to plan a trip either in the fall or next winter.
[1:56:06] Patrick Sammon: Bless you.
[1:56:08] Allyson Alamode: Thank you.
[1:56:09] Patrick Sammon: Okay. So here, this is my turn to talk about me. Um, I'm Patrick. Yeah, you can follow me on Instagram. If you would like to chat with me. I love talking to the Gleeks, Chanty Beluga. But also, if you want to talk about three topics, please message me. One, Chanty Beluga. Two, Two Strangers Carry Cake Across New York. I saw it per Andrew's recommendation was on New York a few months ago. And it changed my life. And I like listen to it every day. And I cry all the time about it. And then the third thing is about Degrassi. But if you want to talk about Degrassi, add me and Allison in the group chat, because we both want to talk to you about Degrassi.
[1:56:48] Allyson Alamode: We should do a good Degrassi rewatch podcast after this.
[1:56:50] Patrick Sammon: Can we have a Gleek Degrassi group chat?
[1:56:54] Allyson Alamode: Like, you know what? Your people to my people.
[1:56:59] Patrick Sammon: It's okay, fine.
[1:57:00] Allyson Alamode: Yes. This was very fun. Andrew, why did you keep us away from each other for so long? We had such a nice time together tonight.
[1:57:06] Patrick Sammon: I don't know. Truthfully, there are certain pairings that I just like, don't consider until it's actually happening. And this was one of them. And I'm sorry that I kept you apart for so long.
[1:57:19] Allyson Alamode: I'm forever grateful for this pairing for this trio.
[1:57:22] Patrick Sammon: I'm forever yours, faithful Gleek, Chanty Beluga.
[1:57:30] Allyson Alamode: Okay, and that's the end of the episode.
[1:57:37] Patrick Sammon: Bye!
[1:57:37] Allyson Alamode: It's Gleek, Gleek of the Week.
