[0:00] Andrew: We've got a mission to find the best song that's ever been on Glee.

[0:09] Andrew: There's no rhyme or reason to it, so don't get mad at me.

[0:18] Andrew: Glacket by Glacket, we'll rank everyone to see which song will move closer to spot number one.

[0:26] Andrew: Gleek of the Week, Gleek, Gleek, Gleek of the Week. It's Gleek, Gleek of the Week.

[0:34] Andrew: I'm recording this conversation and it will be used against everybody. Welcome back for another episode. Oh God, you already heard her. It's Allison V. Dodge. Bird means. Oh my God, wait.

[0:48] Andrew: Who is that? And the other person wanted to be brought into the conversation a little bit early. Wait, I'll bring you in in a second, okay? Okay. Allison V. Dodge, how are you feeling?

[1:01] Allison V. Dodge: I'm feeling really raw because there's no beauty filter on this. On Riverside. On Riverside, so I'm just looking directly into every single wrinkle. I'm feeling great. I am really excited to be here. I think doing the Swack It made me remember, gave me a new lease on life.

[1:23] Andrew: Yeah. A plug for the Swack It. Exactly.

[1:28] Allison V. Dodge: Yeah. Plug for the Swack It. Everybody go listen to the Swack It. And so I'm excited to be here and I'm excited to participate in some discourse because Love Island has taken up my entire time and my entire personality. So I'm ready to refocus on other hyper fixations.

[1:41] Andrew: Get back to your roots.

[1:46] Allison V. Dodge: For a little bit. Yeah. And I will be playing with the fidget spinner the entire time.

[1:51] Andrew: Oh, perfect. That's another plug for the video on Patreon. So if you want to watch her play with the fidget spinner and also count her wrinkles on her face, then you can do that.

[1:56] Allison V. Dodge: Count them. I can fucking plant corn in these bitches. Jesus Christ.

[2:02] Allison V. Dodge: Wait, speaking of the Swack It, after we did that, I was like, wait, I feel insane for calling this podcast Gleek the Week Pod and not just the Glack It. Because I remember when we first started it, I was like, oh, it will just be a Glee podcast where we're doing this thing. You know, instead it became we're doing this thing and that's the only thing we're doing. You know what I mean?

[2:29] Andrew: Got you.

[2:34] Allison V. Dodge: Yeah. And it should have really been just called the Glack It from day one. And so, you know what? You live, you learn. But Gleek the Week is such an iconic title that if you hadn't taken it, somebody else would have. And at least you have that. You don't have that trademark because I'm sure Fox Century has that trademark.

[2:46] Andrew: Yeah. But you've got it in the back of your mind.

[2:51] Allison V. Dodge: It does help. I mean, like I saw last night, Iqbal Thiba, who played Principal Figgins, of course, we're familiar. I'm familiar.

[2:56] Allison V. Dodge: He was like promoting something and he was like, he had tagged at Glee Official and at Gleek the Week Pod. And it was just like, I guess it wouldn't have happened if it was called at Glack It Pod.

[3:07] Andrew: The Glack It. Right.

[3:13] Allison V. Dodge: Yeah. No, no, no. You need the G-L-E-E at the beginning. And then sometimes you get accidentally added.

[3:19] Andrew: Exactly. Thank you, Iqbal. You're king for that.

[3:24] Allison V. Dodge: Thanks, Iqbal. Big kiss. Is there anything else that you would like to say before we bring in that other person?

[3:32] Allison V. Dodge: No, I'm excited to get into the Glee material. But I do. Can I introduce my little friend?

[3:40] Andrew: Yeah, you can do that.

[3:44] Allison V. Dodge: Well, actually, I have three little friends sitting with me. And because this is now a video recording. I thought you were going to bring in the other person. I was like, Oh, that'd be really nice if you brought in the other.

[3:53] Andrew: No, she can wait. She can sit.

[3:56] Allison V. Dodge: I want you all to meet my labubu. It is a seesaw coconut. Do you get the hype with this, Andrew? Do you like understand or no?

[4:01] Andrew: I mean, yeah, it's I don't really have much of an opinion on labubus.

[4:09] Allison V. Dodge: They're just you know what, as soon as I got one, I said, my obsession is over.

[4:15] Andrew: Oh, really?

[4:19] Allison V. Dodge: I don't care anymore. I was like, one is enough one and done. There are people out there that have a million of them that will never be me. I needed my one and I'm happy and satisfied and I can put her on my purse and take her wherever she needs to go. And so she's going to help me make some Glee decisions today. My sunny angel that I had to buy in order to get the labubu is also here. Are you familiar with these? They had an SNL skit about sunny angels, I believe.

[4:37] Andrew: He's out here. Dick out. Like that's a penis.

[4:43] Allison V. Dodge: Yeah, I know that's wild, but it's anatomically correct.

[4:53] Andrew: I don't I don't think necessarily, but what do you mean?

[4:57] Allison V. Dodge: I'm just basing it off of the fact that like Barbies don't have genitalia.

[5:03] Andrew: That's true. That's true. At least there is genitalia and we're we're being a little bit of recognition for the penis.

[5:10] Allison V. Dodge: And then I also do have my smiskey. I was gonna I just did my nails and I was going to charge him under a UV light so that he was glowing, but I forgot. He's also sitting here with my sunny angel and my labubu. Is that a big deal? Is this something that I should be aware of?

[5:19] Andrew: The Gleeks will let you know.

[5:22] Allison V. Dodge: The Gleeks will tell you like, yeah, yeah, that is a big deal.

[5:28] Andrew: Yeah, yeah, it is a kind of a big deal. So they're going to be helping me and giving me the strength in these hard, hard competitions in round three that I'm so excited to be a part of.

[5:32] Allison V. Dodge: Right, exactly. I'm so glad to have you back. Do you want to introduce the third person in this conversation today?

[5:40] Allison V. Dodge: I would I would love to. She's a dear, dear in real life Gleek friend. She has she was on an episode round one many, many, many moons ago.

[5:53] Andrew: I have the exact date when we've recorded. Are you ready for it?

[5:57] Allison V. Dodge: When was it? I feel old yet. Are you ready? September 14th, 2020, 2021.

[6:06] Andrew: Why did that? I struggled so hard with that.

[6:10] Allison V. Dodge: Four years ago, four years ago. I'm sick. Well, anyway, four more years for.

[6:16] Allison V. Dodge: Since then, she's given birth to a whole human being. She is mama, mommy, mamacita. It's Maggie.

[6:22] Maggie: Hi, how are you?

[6:29] Maggie: Hi, Gleeks. Hi, Allison and Andrew. You're killing me with these Love Island references.

[6:35] Maggie: I am a mamacita to a human child, not a not a dog. Yes, I'm watching. Of course, I've watched. I've watched real time since season one.

[6:40] Andrew: Really? Oh, my God.

[6:46] Maggie: I still follow some of those people on Instagram and everything. And I'm like, I shouldn't follow these people anymore. That was seven seasons ago.

[6:50] Andrew: I am not watching for context.

[6:57] Maggie: I understand the mommy mamacita trend, of course, but that I think that's the extent. Also, my dream date. Is that also a Love Island reference?

[7:03] Maggie: Yes. And that's the same girl.

[7:08] Andrew: Oh, wow. If we had to, Maggie, if you had to assign Huda a Glee character to kind of put it into context for Andrew?

[7:16] Maggie: Oh, my gosh. I don't even know. Like, a little bit of multiple people, probably like Lea Michele when she sends sunshine to an active crack house.

[7:31] Andrew: That's not even Rachel. That's Lea Michele.

[7:35] Maggie: Yeah, yeah. Probably Terry when she, you know, tries to buy someone's baby.

[7:43] Andrew: No, honestly, Huda gets a bad rap. Like people think she's kind of crazy. But honestly, I just think she got she got edited real, real bad.

[7:48] Maggie: Real Yeah, real off like all of her bad. They only show her bad side.

[7:56] Andrew: Oh, for sure. For sure. But they should be glad because now they're getting viral moments that like I was scrolling through Instagram and like Wendy's was like posting about mama mamacita mommy and Peppa Pig.

[8:05] Maggie: When was like, Gleek of the Week pod needs to make a version.

[8:12] Andrew: No, I was thinking mom, mama mamacita and it's Quinn. Is that is that it?

[8:20] Maggie: Yeah, that is it.

[8:24] Andrew: Yeah, I was just trying to think I was like, is there a more creative route, but I think that it might just be Quinn.

[8:30] Maggie: And that's carousel edition number one, I think right now.

[8:35] Andrew: Fuck yeah, baby.

[8:36] Maggie: Yeah. Um, speaking of carousel, speaking of Gleek of the Week pod, speaking of Glock Decisions, Maggie, you know, it was so like truly maybe top 10 moments of my of my year so far was on Allison's birthday. Well, it was it was a great event within itself. But discovering that you still listen to these goddamn episodes, even when they're three trillion years long each. It's it really warmed my heart because you know, you had someone that you had, you had stake in the game, Allison Dodge, a real life friend, and you didn't you didn’t fucking know me before beforehand. And so I just it was really, really sweet to discover that you're still listening.

[9:02] Maggie: Oh my gosh, Andrew, you like single handedly got me through like postpartum after I had a child and I was up until not even up until I was up 24 hours a day every day. So I was I was in the trenches patron patron since day one.

[9:34] Andrew: Oh my god, that's so it means so much. And wait, so where where does your baby fall in the glockett? Where did the winner of your baby's glockett?

[9:39] Maggie: Um, I think winner of baby Harvey, his glockett would be three. That would be a winner of his glockett.

[9:48] Andrew: Oh, sorry. It kind of like a little like sexual innuendo for a baby.

[9:52] Maggie: No, yeah, he's spicy. He's not liking that. But okay.

[10:01] Maggie: No, I think I think because you know, he can like, not count to three yet. But hopefully someday.

[10:10] Andrew: Three is almost like a goal for him.

[10:16] Maggie: Yeah.

[10:16] Andrew: Oh, I love that.

[10:24] Andrew: Okay, Glockett decisions. I mean, so much has passed since September 14 2021. Do you have grievances that you would like to dispel at this at this moment?

[10:31] Maggie: I mean, honestly, like, we're in round three, season three, if you will. And so like, I feel like it's like beating a dead horse at this point in terms of like things that people are like legitimately upset about. But I guess what is this podcast? If not beating a dead horse 666 times?

[10:48] Andrew: Sure.

[10:48] Maggie: But I mean, no, I'm I'm I don't have too much. I mean, thriller heads will roll the like that. The thing that was surprised me that is that the most with that is how casual you guys were about pulling that song. And I'm glad that when I was in in the Patreon and looking at all the patrons talking about like, that song is hype. I don't know why they aren't more excited about it. And then the fact that it didn't go through.

[11:19] Andrew: Yeah.

[11:19] Maggie: That just like blew my mind, like with the Jake Shane and Leah Michelle interview when they were talking about like the Glee song that changed everything. I thought for sure they were gonna say thriller heads are wall.

[11:28] Andrew: I thought really 100% because that song is for the normies and the Gleeks alike. Like I like to think that I'm leaning a little bit too normie.

[11:35] Maggie: Okay, well, then here I am. I was thinking I was thinking about that on the way over here to record because I'm not at home. I had to escape the baby because he's been a demon lately.

[11:47] Andrew: But streaming on repeat.

[11:57] Maggie: Yeah.

[12:02] Maggie: I was thinking about I'm like, I'm nervous because I don't have the Gleek repertoire enough to be these people who are making three hour long episodes, which love level above the more Glee content I can get the better. But then I was like, you know what, I don't even have to like think about stuff to say or whatever, because Allison's gonna be there. And you know, this bitch is gonna keep it tight. She's gonna have a hard out. She is not letting us go along. So I'm like, girl, don't even sweat it. You don't need to have like all these crazy.

[12:26] Maggie: Actually, do we even need to pull a song in this episode? I need to get out of here. Like, let's wrap it up. I got plans.

[12:33] Andrew: Allison has a hard out in 45 minutes.

[12:39] Maggie: Wait, speaking of I don't foresee this episode being very long. But I do want to ask what is what is the official hard out?

[12:46] Allison V. Dodge: I don't have one.

[12:46] Maggie: Allison, I think our hour and a half.

[12:53] Andrew: Can we meet halfway with a 90 minute?

[12:57] Maggie: Can we can make it?

[13:03] Andrew: Yeah, we can do a 90 minute.

[13:07] Maggie: Okay, okay, okay. All right. They're gonna be mad at us, Allison, because we're not giving them the blonde. But it's like, I don't know what they want.

[13:13] Allison V. Dodge: The quality over quantity.

[13:13] Maggie: Exactly what I was gonna say. The Allison content is so few and far between nowadays that it's like, okay, like the it's like condemned. It tastes just as good as like a long Connor meal. You know what I mean?

[13:19] Andrew: Exactly.

[13:14] Andrew: This is like a tasting menu. Yeah. Like a little like the steak filet and it's about that big but it's the best thing I've ever tasted. Right. So Connor's one of my favorite Gleeks, by the way. I love when he rants for three hours. He really is king. And I'm seeing him IRL. And I don't think I've, I guess even like talked about it. Reveal. Reveal. Going to London to go see Rachel Zegler in Evita in August.

[13:39] Maggie: Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa. Wait a second. Wait a second. Weren't like the last episode or two episodes you guys were saying that it was weird that people were following Rachel Zegler to like her high school and you're traveling oceans.

[13:56] Andrew: Okay. I'm traveling oceans to see a fully adult woman. I was talking about gay men that were going to go again if you forgot what happened. I was talking about gay men that I knew that were going to Rachel Zegler's high school production of Shrek because she had already been cast in West Side Story and they were like watch this space. I want to go see this high school production which I did deem weird. But she's at the West End. It's fine.

[14:25] Maggie: Yeah, this is fine. Thank you. This is okay. I'm very excited for you. That's gonna be so fun. It's gonna be really, really great. And then I don't think that I'm gonna be there but I'm gonna be standing outside of the theater just watching Don't Cry For Me Argentina while you're inside. So who's getting the better view?

[14:41] Andrew: I kind of feel weird about that. I'm like that's kind of the number that everybody knows and you're telling me that it's performed outside where people that aren't paying get to see it? That's kind of the whole bit though. I guess.

[15:01] Maggie: With Jamie Lloyd. Yeah. Whatever.

[15:01] Andrew: Yeah. What did you think of how they did that for Sunset Boulevard?

[15:07] Maggie: I was obsessed. I was like truly gobsmacked. I was just like oh my god you're kidding me. Like literally I don't know. Like you think that theater can only be like this contained thing. This sounds so fucking corny. This contained thing. But then they go and do something insane that you wouldn't even like consider ever doing and then it's like oh my god. Like all the rules are out the door. And I'm obsessed. I love it.

[15:30] Andrew: I agree. I'm kind of sick. I am a Broadway baby to an extent. There's some that I don't really mess with but I agree. It's like I'm kind of tired of seeing just like the same old stuff revived over and over and over again. So like any way to make it a little bit different.

[15:46] Maggie: Yeah. Or all these musicals that are just like musicals of movies. I'm just like can we? I get it. Writing musicals is hard. I get it. Well I don't get it but I kind of get it. But I'm just like I want some originality. I want some uniqueness.

[16:05] Andrew: Speaking of unique back to the Glackett. Wait so we're fine with Glackett?

[16:13] Maggie: I mean I'm just I'm just kind of here and I feel like Maggie's on the same page. I'm here to have a good time.

[16:17] Allison: Okay. Yeah we're literally here for a good time. Not a long time.

[16:23] Andrew: Not a long time. Allison made that clear. No I just I just I want to rise for for my girl Thriller Heads Will Roll because I also was like am I crazy for loving this song? And then I went on YouTube. It's the seventh most viewed YouTube video on the official Glee YouTube.

[16:42] Maggie: So well I'm just saying I have great news for you. Thriller Heads Will Roll has been voted back.

[16:50] Andrew: So right I mean and so I'm very excited by the you know at the end of this round we will have the top 100 specifically Glee songs in the Glackett. And so that does now include Thriller Heads Will Roll.

[17:03] Allison: Thriller Heads Will Roll. As well as Being Alive which I texted you about Allison like the day after it happened. And I was like Being Alive versus Thriller Heads Will Roll where do you stand?

[17:14] Allison: Being Alive. And you made like a very funny joke that I wish that I made in the moment that you were like what did you say? Do you remember?

[17:23] Andrew: I don't remember. Was it something about like Heads Will Roll there or Being Alive versus Being Dead?

[17:30] Allison: Just like god damn it. They're dressed up as zombies.

[17:34] Andrew: Yeah yeah yeah. Being Alive wins every single time. Being Alive I just have like like when I look at the Glackett just his words on a page it's like drop season five. I'm like okay I'm just reading the words drop season five. When I read the words Being Alive I have a visceral reaction. That's good. That's how strong I feel about being alive. And I love it. And I eat it up every time. No matter what cast.

[18:08] Maggie: So what are we manifesting then? I'll start with you Maggie.

[18:15] Maggie: Oh man I don't know. It's it's kind of less I was thinking about that manifesting because I listened to the Remaining Songs playlist all day at work. I work a 10 hour day at my job so I really cranked through some songs baby. And I was like I was I was like I knew he I know he's gonna ask me that but it's less what I want to manifest and more what I don't want to manifest.

[18:36] Andrew: Okay go ahead.

[18:36] Maggie: Um Paradise by the Dashboard Light please don't get pulled. I don't want to talk about you please.

[18:44] Andrew: I just I just okay here's the thing here's the thing of what I because I kind of consider myself to be like halfway between a normie and an Instagram gleek. I think I fall. By the way I have a fidget spinner. It's a baby practice toothbrush. It's my child's baby practice toothbrush. So this is gonna be my fidget spinner.

[19:02] Maggie: Um but I just think that song is like I really don't think it's for the normies or even the Instagram gleeks. I just don't get it because the thing that makes a song amazing to me that scratches the itch in my brain or itches the scratch as Allison would say um is something that makes something that makes the original version of the song not the Gleecast version when Glee does the cover does something at least a little bit different.

[19:34] Andrew: Like I don't like the whole copy and paste and Paradise came on on the playlist and I immediately after listened to the Meatloaf recording just to see and it was like exactly the same. I'm like I don't really get it. It's not for me. The I guess the the whole theatricality of the dancing and the everyone there and the costumes and everything but I just like it's just not for me.

[20:08] Allison: Um how about the stop right there.

[20:08] Andrew: All right great we don't have to pull it you guys are singing it right now.

[20:15] Maggie: It's so special that part that part specifically.

[20:20] Andrew: It's just it's not it's not for me and the other one is Cough Syrup that I just really don't want to talk about like I don't that when I hear dude I know I know which we won't but I just when people say purely just for the song itself the mp3 I when people say it's like the winner of their glacket I'm just like I wish I could get into the inner workings of your mind because I that is one I do not get because again it's like it's like a copy and paste it's like I just I need something a little zesty uh what happened to originality

[20:48] Andrew: yeah yeah something that's just a little fun that's like the winner of my glacket is probably Halo Walking on Sunshine just because just because and I talked about this on the last episode I was on and I I was thinking oh I remember now yes I was thinking I was thinking about have my top 10 changed because I don't know if other groups feel this way but as I listen to this podcast I feel like my my tops change as I listen and I hear people talk and have conversations about the song or just like having it in my ears again because like I said I'm paid a paying patreon so I get to listen to them recordings um and mine changed so I was trying to think if like any of mine have changed and I still think Halo Walking on Sunshine is my number one just because I think it it does what Glee does best which are mashups um and being original and showing you something that you've never seen before so that's probably still winner of my glacket I'm also always going to pick something fun over something emotional and deep and sad so that's just what I'm going to do but I can't teach your boyfriend how to dance obviously on my background medium

[21:56] Maggie: yeah we're looking at that beautiful background also sometimes like the your lamp behind you there's a lamp it kind of looks like you're wearing like a little like a chef hat

[22:01] Andrew: yeah yeah ratatouille under there yeah his name is Remy um but his name the ratatouille um walking on sunshine not very uh disgust I'm very happy that you you brought that up because I kind of think it's one that like peep I mean I guess I shouldn't speak for for all the gleeks here clearly because my opinions I nobody agrees with anything I say as we will find out but I kind of feel like it's one that just everyone kind of universally loves not like crazy like I'll die for this it's the winner of my glacket and not like I hate like I've never heard anyone be like I don't like that song but I've never really heard anyone be like that's the winner of my glacket besides me

[22:50] Andrew: yeah um but yeah it just it every time I also think about Jenna talking about how they all like got whiplash and had like vertebrae injuries from it and I was like it's just amazing it does the early glee thing where they're all wearing similar outfits but not the same outfits they're just they're all like specific to their character yes it's so good the vocals are amazing it's just like it's girl power it's it's everything

[23:20] Andrew: I you know what when we pull halo walking on sunshine in this episode I think we've already had the discourse about the song so I think that's great so you get some of your time back how is it thank fucking god I'm busy booked and busy um okay are we ready to pull song number one yeah can I say what I'm manifesting please

[23:39] Maggie: well in this kind of there's little some little details that go into this so while we were in I was in Boston last weekend and we played this game just like sitting around at a pizza shop um where somebody thinks of a number one through ten and then you ask them categories of things and then they answer something within that category that aligns with that number

[24:10] Andrew: and so after asking a couple of different categories and getting a couple of different things you have to guess what the number they were thinking of was so like if I'm thinking of a five yeah and you ask me glee songs I have to tell you a glee song that I think is a five a five brands of cereal I have to think of a cereal that I think is a five a five out of ten or five out of ten yeah okay mid oh got it got it got it

[24:42] Maggie: this is literally a board game this is literally a board game called wavelength just wait it's like wavelength but like you're trying it's a little bit there's more answers involved it's super fun but um what I want out of today is I want two glee songs that are very closely ranked like I want a three out of ten and a four out of ten or a five out of ten and a six out of ten like hard yeah I get that good versus good I want like bad versus bad or mid versus mid

[25:19] Andrew: I was gonna say that's kind of what I'm looking for we're around three I think that uh we're not we don't have very very many uh bad songs anymore

[25:25] Maggie: there's not a ton but there are a few there are a few one one of which I'm thinking of right now

[25:31] Andrew: uh with your assistance it got to where it is today I'm thinking of course do you know what I'm thinking of

[25:37] Maggie: no it's a bias lose my breath somebody my yoga sculpt instructor plays that during like her warm-up not the glee version but like during her warm-up and I'm just like this is like what Maggie's talking about like a copy paste yeah they just like no creativity just have a child except it's a child singing

[26:00] Andrew: I know copy paste Beyonce and Myron yeah just copy paste it's the same thing it's the same thing apples apples yeah okay are you ready for song number one

[26:16] Andrew: fuck yeah I do need to share my Lea Michele concert story but I kind of want to bring it up naturally you know with a song but if I do forget it by episode end please like tell me and I will

[26:29] Andrew: Welcome back to Gleek of the Week! Today, we have Allison returning and Maggie, who hasn't been on the podcast since 2021.

[26:59] Allison: It's so great to be back!

[27:29] Maggie: Thanks for having me! I can't believe it's been so long.

[27:59] Andrew: I know! So much has happened since then. Have you guys been keeping up with Lea Michele's concert?

[28:19] Allison: Yes! I saw some clips online, and she sounded amazing.

[28:39] Maggie: I loved the clips too! It looked like such a fun show.

[28:59] Andrew: It really did. I was surprised by how much she performed from Glee.

[29:19] Allison: Right? It was like a nostalgic trip down memory lane.

[29:39] Maggie: And the way she interacted with the audience was so genuine.

[29:59] Andrew: Absolutely! Speaking of nostalgia, have you both been watching Love Island?

[30:19] Allison: I have! It's such a guilty pleasure.

[30:39] Maggie: Same here! I can't get enough of the drama.

[30:59] Andrew: It's wild how invested you can get in those relationships.

Oh, huh, this is an interesting competition. Interesting competition alert. Oh, this. Oh, I don't know what I'm going to do. Season one. I love how Andrew has like a solid like 10 seconds to kind of already make his decision in his mind as I'm finding it. And you have no context for what it's going to be. Okay, right. And I think that's really that talk, tell the audience about what kind of plot lines are going on without actually having to cut away from the song to show like different footage of whatever's going on in the episode. Is that what you're talking about? It starts, I'm kind of the same thing. Like, oh, yeah, music is playing. And it's the villain. Yeah. Like, I want somebody to impersonate several things from like, specifically Glee performances, like, the kinds of looks that side characters who are not singing, give each other during performances, like, like, the sad look of Quinn looking at Finn, or like, somebody just got kicked out of Glee Club, but they're watching from the back. That performance and it's just like Santana being like, and then turning around and closing the door.

And, uh, and of course, like, people were like, um, Ronjoy, you're on my headband. And she was like, fuck that. No.

[57:24] Andrew: Um, why ask? Right? Why ask? Why ask? If you're not gonna do what we want, monkey? And that's what they said to Lea Michele. Um, but, uh, okay. [1:00:50] Maggie: Or do you think she was just singing them Lea Michele?

[1:00:53] Andrew: I do think that it's the latter. I do because like specifically because she also sang Vampire. And she sang the explicit version of Vampire. And I'm like, Rachel wouldn't do that.

[1:01:02] Maggie: Rachel wouldn't do that. Rachel's on a TV show that you can't curse on.

[1:01:45] Maggie: They really were. It's so iconic.

[1:01:47] Allison: They really were. And they didn't need to do any more after this.

[1:01:54] Allison: What would it have sounded like if it was Kurt as a officer Krumpke slash New Yorker?

[1:02:00] Maggie: Oh my God, they're doing original songs.

[1:02:02] Allison: Doing original songs.

[1:02:04] Maggie: Oh my God. No fucking way. They're doing fucking original songs.

[1:02:10] Andrew: I don't recognize this one. Oh, the scrim is going up. You know, this is going to be good.

[1:02:18] Maggie: Oh, Blaine, get a load of this.

[1:02:21] Andrew: Blaine, you'll never fucking believe this. They're doing fucking original songs.

[1:02:24] Maggie: They wrote them themselves. It's incredible.

[1:02:28] Andrew: I know you probably can't tell. I know every single song in the entire song.

[1:02:33] Maggie: I know every fucking single song that's ever been written. And this, I've never heard this one before.

[1:02:36] Andrew: I've never heard this song before.

[1:02:43] Maggie: Get it right. It's a song that kind of like has like moved up in the ranking for me since doing this exercise. I like it more in recent years than I think that I, this was like kind of like a never seen for me in the past.

[1:03:11] Maggie: I'm sorry.

[1:03:11] Allison: No, it's okay. It's okay. I like, um,

[1:03:22] Allison: We're gonna hang out tonight.

[1:03:27] Maggie: Hell To The No is so good. I re-listened to that in the car when I was driving home from work and it slaps even harder when it's sunny and the windows are down.

[1:03:35] Allison: Yes!

[1:03:36] Maggie: I don't even- I don't- I don't even know what's happening with those lyrics. That is like a acid trip listening to those lyrics.

[1:04:12] Allison: I wish you would get it right versus Loser Like Me. That'd be so fun.

[1:04:16] Maggie: Well, it's not.

[1:04:17] Allison: It's season five.

[1:04:18] Maggie: Oh!

[1:04:18] Andrew: I know, you killed- you killed my girlie.

[1:04:21] Maggie: Wait, where do you- where do you fall in the season five version, Maggie?

[1:04:24] Maggie: Oh, I can't. When I was going through the remaining songs, I was like, it's honestly a travesty that that version is still here, and the original isn't. Like, come on.

[1:04:31] Allison: No, it's iconic. It's iconic. It kind of like-

[1:04:34] Maggie: It does the same thing that Teenage Dream season four does, where it's like, oh, now it's like, kind of like emotional and dumb. And I like it.

[1:04:41] Allison: It's got its time and place.

[1:04:43] Maggie: Yeah.

[1:04:43] Allison: Mine- but I like glitter slushies. I like glitter slushies in the face.

[1:04:48] Maggie: I like combat boots clacking on the floor.

[1:04:52] Allison: That was a mistake.

[1:04:53] Maggie: Capris.

[1:04:54] Andrew: We accidentally got rid of Loser Like Me season two version way too early. I'm sorry.

[1:05:00] Maggie: Was that my fault?

[1:05:01] Andrew: No.

[1:05:01] Maggie: Well, I don't forgive you.

[1:05:02] Andrew: You were the one that voted for Loser Like Me.

[1:05:04] Maggie: Oh, thank fucking God.

[1:05:05] Allison: It was- it was against B.O.K. and B.O.K. is still around to this day.

[1:05:10] Andrew: Allison, you're perfect.

[1:05:11] Maggie: I don't even know- thank you. Um, I don't even know what B.O.K. is.

[1:05:16] Andrew: Oh, I want to sing the Ingrid Michaelson version, but it's not that. It's, um, uh, I can't complain about much these days.

[1:05:24] Maggie: Are you thinking of Addison, or B.O.K.?

[1:05:25] Andrew: Yes, yeah, yeah, yeah. But I-

[1:05:26] Maggie: Oh, I can't remember the names. I don't even know B.O.K.

[1:05:33] Andrew: Yeah.

[1:05:33] Maggie: Got you, got you, got you. Okay.

[1:05:36] Andrew: Okay, so-

[1:05:39] Maggie: That was me farting out of my ass.

[1:05:41] Andrew: Audio medium.

[1:05:42] Maggie: Audio medium. I'm farting out of my ass thinking about B.O.K.

[1:05:48] Andrew: Okay, you know what the hell this is.

[1:05:49] Maggie: Oh, I know what the hell this is.

[1:05:54] Andrew: It is Forget You.

[1:05:55] Maggie: Let her rip.

[1:05:55] Andrew: Oh, I've got some fun things to say about this.

[1:05:57] Maggie: Let her rip. I want to see Miss Goop.

[1:06:01] Andrew: Pepper pots up in here.

[1:06:04] Maggie: I hit so much endorphins.

[1:06:09] Andrew: Oh, baby. Just dopamine straight to the brain.

[1:06:12] Maggie: Ooh, it hits so nice.

[1:06:12] Andrew: I'm hurting. It feels so good.

[1:06:14] Andrew: Oh yeah. Miss Goop did that thing. We could go see Goop. We could go see Goop.

[1:06:26] Andrew: God damn it. It's just so perfect. I just like, I feel like while watching this, it feels so contained. I don't know if this makes any sense. Contained inside of an era that it was like, Gwyneth Paltrow on Glee, specifically this episode, not as much like the other episodes, like the debut episode, what a massive deal it felt like it was when it happened. That it was like, oh, whoa, she came out and she sang. This song was like, was this even like, I'm sure it was like kind of making some waves. Forget You.

[1:06:59] Maggie: Yeah, it was on the radio. It was on the radio at the time for sure.

[1:07:02] Andrew: Remember the radio?

[1:07:04] Maggie: Remember the radio?

[1:07:05] Andrew: Remember the radio? We've become those people.

[1:07:08] Maggie: Every time that you put on the radio, this would be like, not the Gwyneth version, but like, this song would be playing.

[1:07:16] Andrew: This would be playing.

[1:07:17] Maggie: And it was just like, kind of like synonymous within the same moment, the Goop version. And so it just feels so special to me. Nostalgia is kind of—

[1:07:26] Andrew: The Goop version.

[1:07:27] Maggie: The Goop version. Maggie, what do you think?

[1:07:31] Maggie: Loved it. I love that outfit, her black turtleneck, black turtleneck Steve Jobs-esque with her like gray, Heather Gray skirt she got going on. She looks so good. I forgot, like, that was Santana who had the riffs at the end, right?

[1:07:48] Andrew: Oh, it's so clean.

[1:07:50] Maggie: Was it?

[1:07:51] Andrew: Yeah, yeah.

[1:07:52] Maggie: It sounds— I forgot that she had that. Is that in the MP3? It has to be, right?

[1:07:57] Andrew: I believe that it is. Yeah.

[1:08:00] Maggie: It sounded so good. All I was gonna say is I forgot that that was there and it adds points, not that it needs more points because it's—

[1:08:07] Andrew: Yeah.

[1:08:08] Maggie: She's a fun little Goopy gal, but it's great. It's fun. Lea Michele is Rachel-ing her ass off in that chair doing the ugh and the eye rolls and the hair flips being like above it all.

[1:08:23] Andrew: At least she thinks she's above it all.

[1:08:25] Maggie: Why is she doing that again? Is this because of sex?

[1:08:29] Andrew: No, that's in the next Goop episode.

[1:08:33] Maggie: Next Goop episode.

[1:08:35] Andrew: She's mad because there's no structure to the classes and she's like, we can't just be having this much fun. And everyone's like, and why not?

[1:08:44] Maggie: And why not? And we could.

[1:08:47] Andrew: What if we did?

[1:08:49] Maggie: I love it. I love it. My legal note is that, and I feel like I said this the last time we watched this, but at my trivia that I host that I still host, there is somebody who sits at the bar who plays his music. And I know that whenever the touch tunes plays like Yellow by Coldplay, I'm like, oh, this guy's in here. He's somewhere. He's sitting at the bar.

[1:09:18] Andrew: Yellow's kind of like a downer, no?

[1:09:20] Maggie: No, it's depressing. And then he plays right after that—

[1:09:23] Andrew: Wait, you're Trivia Mafia, right?

[1:09:27] Maggie: Yeah, yeah, yeah.

[1:09:29] Andrew: Don't you play your own music? Does he play it over you?

[1:09:32] Maggie: No, no, no, no, no. At my trivia location specifically, it's touch tunes as DJ. I just like talk during songs. And when I talk, the music goes down.

[1:09:44] Andrew: So the people in the bar can control the jukebox.

[1:09:47] Maggie: And he almost every night plays the explicit version of this song after my trivia night.

[1:09:55] Andrew: So I'll be like, thanks, everybody for coming. Have a good night. Get home safe. I'll see you next week. And then it'll be like, fuck you.

[1:10:02] Maggie: This is definitely not the legal note. This is the first time I'm hearing this legal note.

[1:10:09] Andrew: It's fucking crazy.

[1:10:11] Maggie: That's so good.

[1:10:14] Andrew: I think someone has a crush on you.

[1:10:17] Maggie: I hope to God.

[1:10:18] Andrew: That's how they're showing it?

[1:10:20] Maggie: If they're showing it by saying, fuck you, I hate it.

[1:10:23] Andrew: I hate it so much. And sometimes I, well, my remote does have the power to skip songs. So sometimes I will skip it because I'm like, there are children here, one, and also weird vibes.

[1:10:38] Maggie: Um, I do think—

[1:10:39] Andrew: How is that legal? Don't they pay for their songs?

[1:10:42] Maggie: You can just skip their song when they put money in?

[1:10:44] Andrew: Yeah. There was a person one time that played a 15 minute screamo song. And after, after 10 minutes, I skipped it.

[1:10:55] Maggie: I was like, ah, we're not doing this anymore. This is weird vibes.

[1:10:59] Andrew: You know what that really reminds me of? I don't know if I've ever told you this, but in pre-college when it was karaoke night, I remember like, I only thought about this because yesterday before going out for Pride festivities, we watched Lights Out. It was a really good, we don't do this every weekend. We watch, okay.

[1:11:19] Maggie: Who is like, who is like prompting this? Like, is this you or Elias?

[1:11:24] Andrew: It's more so Elias that he's like, no, because this is like, actually like toxic of him to be like, oh, we're like walking home from brunch. And then he's like, okay, we need to get like ready to go out. And he says to me, he's, this is not the first time that he's done this. He says, I want to go home and I want to watch a rider episode.

[1:11:43] Maggie: Interesting.

[1:11:44] Andrew: I'm like, say no more fam. We're putting on Lights Out, which is like kind of the worst episode to watch while like you're getting prepared to go out.

[1:11:55] Maggie: Yes.

[1:11:56] Andrew: But the, the way that this ties in.

[1:11:57] Maggie: School shooter, no?

[1:11:59] Andrew: No, that's, that's a after school shooter.

[1:12:01] Maggie: That's Shooting Star.

[1:12:02] Andrew: That's Shooting Star.

[1:12:04] Maggie: They come to school shooter episodes, Shooting Star?

[1:12:08] Andrew: Yes, baby.

[1:12:10] Maggie: Alison's never seen an episode of Glee in her life.

[1:12:15] Andrew: Lights Out is when the power is out and they're all singing acoustic.

[1:12:18] Maggie: For an entire week and they still need to go to school.

[1:12:21] Andrew: But it's also episode of At the Ballet. And the way that that ties in with pre-college is that I remember going through the karaoke book and like finding At the Ballet and being like, hmm, maybe I should at 17 years old. Imagine putting everybody through that.

[1:12:39] Maggie: Me, awkward as fuck, singing all seven minutes of At the Ballet.

[1:12:45] Andrew: All the parts.

[1:12:45] Maggie: Iconic.

[1:12:47] Andrew: I'm obsessed.

[1:12:48] Maggie: And in my mind, you did do that.

[1:12:50] Andrew: I probably did. I probably blacked out.

[1:12:53] Maggie: At 17, completely dead sober. And I was just like, and I really locked in and I said, I sang At the Ballet.

[1:13:02] Andrew: Beautiful. I love it. I was there.

[1:13:05] Maggie: Gosh. And that's kind of like the discourse on Forget You.

[1:13:08] Andrew: Yeah. I mean, it's a great song.

[1:13:12] Maggie: I love it.

[1:13:12] Andrew: She slaps.

[1:13:13] Maggie: She slaps.

[1:13:15] Andrew: She definitely slaps. A recent discourse has been guest stars as they pertain to the Glockett and if guest stars should be considered as much going forward.

[1:13:24] Maggie: Like that, like they're not like a part of like this core cast.

[1:13:29] Andrew: I do think that this feels like, uh, uh, I don't know. What's the word I'm looking for? It defies the role a little bit because it involves so much of the actual original cast, you know?

[1:13:44] Maggie: Oh, so you're saying like.

[1:13:46] Andrew: Marry the Night being one of them. Guest stars should not go far on the Glockett because they're not the OG cast.

[1:13:54] Maggie: Yeah. Like Marry the Night was the reason that it got brought up. A lot of people like Marry the Night, but it's like.

[1:14:01] Andrew: He doesn't really have like that much stake in the game, you know?

[1:14:04] Maggie: Yeah. You know, my, the winner of my Glockett, La Isla Bonita, like.

[1:14:10] Andrew: No, it's not.

[1:14:12] Maggie: No, it's not in any way, shape or form.

[1:14:15] Andrew: Um, but I get that. I get that. But I do think Gwyneth Paltrow, Kristen Chenoweth, they're, they're so much.

[1:14:26] Maggie: I, yeah.

[1:14:26] Andrew: That they defy the role for me.

[1:14:29] Maggie: Yeah.

[1:14:29] Andrew: Like Adam Lambert, he's there for one or two seasons or whatever.

[1:14:34] Maggie: Like he's not.

[1:14:35] Andrew: Also, yeah.

[1:14:37] Maggie: Holly Holliday also is like.

[1:14:40] Andrew: She's on a whole nother level.

[1:14:41] Maggie: Like I honestly can't really name a guest star that even comes close to like.

[1:14:46] Andrew: What she brings to the table.

[1:14:48] Maggie: So I agree that that should also defy whatever rules we have about core cast only.

[1:14:54] Andrew: Okay. Here's the new rule. Here's the new rule. Core cast and then people that Will Schuster slept with.

[1:15:01] Maggie: Okay.

[1:15:02] Andrew: So June Squibb is not part of that list.

[1:15:04] Maggie: Sorry, June Squibb.

[1:15:06] Andrew: Why is, is there any June Squibb left?

[1:15:08] Maggie: No, there's not.

[1:15:09] Andrew: No, you, I think you actually saw out June Squibb with Taking You Home Tonight. You were like, that's enough, June.

[1:15:14] Maggie: Don't let the door hit you where the good Lord split you, baby.

[1:15:22] Andrew: Over it.

[1:15:23] Maggie: Wait, so we were just saying, we're just saying Shelby, April and Holly.

[1:15:28] Andrew: Yeah, they can stay.

[1:15:29] Maggie: Yeah.

[1:15:30] Andrew: They can stay.

[1:15:31] Maggie: Everybody else.

[1:15:33] Andrew: Get out of here.

[1:15:33] Maggie: Get out.

[1:15:34] Andrew: Move, move, move.

[1:15:35] Maggie: You can stay.

[1:15:35] Andrew: Move, move, move.

[1:15:36] Maggie: You can't stay.

[1:15:39] Andrew: Gwyneth Paltrow, goop.

[1:15:40] Maggie: Goop.

[1:15:41] Andrew: You can stay.

[1:15:42] Maggie: Goop, Cait Shen and Adele Dazeem.

[1:15:45] Andrew: You can all stay.

[1:15:48] Maggie: Oh, I've been doing that voice so much that it hurts.

[1:15:51] Andrew: Okay, let's wrap this up. Do we want to vote between Get It Right and Forget You?

[1:15:56] Maggie: Forget You.

[1:15:58] Andrew: Maggie?

[1:16:00] Maggie: Sadly, Forget You. Because I like Get It Right. I don't want her to go, but she got it because Forget You is a bop of ages.

[1:16:10] Andrew: Oh.

[1:16:11] Maggie: Oh.

[1:16:13] Andrew: I'm still here. They just took away my, uh, I Don't Want To Take Your Boyfriend Out To Dance With You.

[1:16:17] Maggie: You voted the wrong way.

[1:16:23] Andrew: You have to get rid of that background. You're done.

[1:16:24] Maggie: Glee card revoked.

[1:16:28] Andrew: And I love that. I can see that it's definitely not a chef hat.

[1:16:32] Maggie: It's definitely a lampshade.

[1:16:35] Andrew: And my vote will also be for Forget You because, damn, that was just, what a moment. What a moment in time.

[1:16:42] Maggie: She's so good.

[1:16:43] Andrew: She's so good. Pinnacle, pinnacle, pinnacle. Did they sing that on tour?

[1:16:50] Maggie: At one location, it was featured in the movie.

[1:16:53] Andrew: Yep.

[1:16:54] Maggie: Who sang the lead vocals?

[1:16:56] Andrew: It wasn't Gwyneth Paltrow.

[1:16:58] Maggie: Goop showed up to the New Jersey, yeah, to the New Jersey date. Just once.

[1:17:03] Andrew: Wow.

[1:17:03] Maggie: Just the one time.

[1:17:04] Andrew: I believe, yeah. That's why you went and saw Lea Michele in Jersey because you thought Goop was going to show up.

[1:17:09] Maggie: Thank you. I was like, oh, she loves showing up. She loves showing up for Lea in this state specifically.

[1:17:18] Andrew: And recap this episode.

[1:17:21] Maggie: Something's coming.

[1:17:22] Andrew: Something's coming to round four and it's not this song.

[1:17:27] Maggie: And it's not you, bitch.

[1:17:28] Andrew: It's not you.

[1:17:30] Maggie: I can see your true colors shining through to round four.

[1:17:34] Andrew: Is that it?

[1:17:36] Maggie: Yeah.

[1:17:38] Andrew: Get it right.

[1:17:39] Maggie: Well, you got it wrong this time.

[1:17:41] Andrew: And how could we ever forget you?

[1:17:48] Maggie: We couldn't.

[1:17:48] Andrew: We couldn't. And that's why.

[1:17:50] Maggie: We'll always be remembering you.

[1:17:51] Andrew: We'll always be remembering you.

[1:17:54] Maggie: Okay, wrapping up this episode. Does anybody have anything that they would like to plug at this very moment?

[1:18:01] Andrew: Silence.

[1:18:06] Maggie: Just listen to the MP3 of Teenage Dream.

[1:18:09] Andrew: Yeah, take this last hour and a half and listen to MP3 of Teenage Dream season four and also listen to the Swaggit.

[1:18:17] Maggie: Exactly.

[1:18:18] Andrew: You have all that time. Wait, Allison, is the Swaggit your podcast?

[1:18:22] Maggie: It's not your podcast, is it?

[1:18:24] Andrew: No, no.

[1:18:25] Maggie: That would be so fucking rude.

[1:18:26] Andrew: I was like, if Allison listens to my podcast, I started a different one.

[1:18:31] Maggie: Fuck you, Andrew.

[1:18:33] Andrew: If you just started doing that, I'd be like, okay, damn.

[1:18:38] Maggie: All right.

[1:18:40] Andrew: Yeah, can't come back to Bleak of the Week?

[1:18:45] Maggie: Sorry, I'm too busy with the Swaggit.

[1:18:47] Andrew: No time to clack it.

[1:18:50] Maggie: No, no, no. The Swaggit is Taylor Swift bracket that a glistener of the pod started.

[1:18:59] Andrew: Yes, and frequent guest Patrick was also on a recent episode. If you want to go listen.

[1:19:06] Maggie: So, yeah, with that.

[1:19:10] Andrew: Wow. This is gonna be so simple to edit.

[1:19:13] Maggie: Thank you.

[1:19:14] Andrew: We're at exactly an hour 30.

[1:19:17] Maggie: Damn, it feels good.

[1:19:18] Andrew: Okay. Thank you so much. We'll be back with another episode next week.

[1:19:24] Maggie: Okay, bye.

[1:19:26] Andrew: It's Gleek, Gleek of the Week.
