[0:00] Andrew: We've got a mission to find the best song that's ever been on Glee. There's no rhyme or reason to it, so don't get mad at me. Glacket by Glacket, we'll rank everyone to see which song will move closer to spot number one. Gleek of the Week, Gleek, Gleek, Gleek of the Week. It's Gleek, Gleek of the Week.

[0:44] Andrew: I was thinking about the news and I was like, you know what? I was like, don't. No, but you know what? Here's what I will say. We don't talk about news on this podcast, but I don't want you to think that this podcast doesn't acknowledge that the world is on fire. However, one thing does stand to be true is that I am looking forward to chatting with two Gleeky girls today and I hope it will serve, it always does, serve as a nice distraction for myself. And I hope that for the beautiful girl listening to this right now, it serves as a nice distraction from the world being on fire and such. So I hope that there are two Gleeky girls in this conversation. Are there?

[1:25] Abby: There are two Gleeky girls in this conversation and two, Gleeky girl number two, would you like to come out of the shadows?

[1:31] Claudia: Here I am!

[1:38] Andrew: Oh my god, there's one and there's two. And for people that don't remember names of voices, of course they are Abby and Claudia. I just know the big of the shiver down their spine. She's back.

[1:43] Abby: Oh no. Fucking back, yeah.

[1:50] Andrew: Thank fucking god. The girls are girling. I wrote down in my notes app in preparation for this call, the girls will be girling. We will be girling. We will be girling. And to add on to what you said so eloquently, Andrew, I believe, you know, there's nothing wrong with a little bit of escapism. It's always good to be in tune with what's going on, but sometimes you need to have some mental break. And this can be your mental break, except it's not because we're going to be fighting back and forth about what's going on. It's not going to be chill.

[2:15] Claudia: It's not going to be too chill, but it's not going to be good. It's going to be very low yield in the terms of things that piss you off this week.

[2:23] Abby: Yeah, definitely. Well, that's a good, those are kind of good stakes for us, at least.

[2:27] Andrew: Yeah. That's a really good point. I forgot what podcast I was hosting, Abby. Thank you so much. I thought I was doing like a mental health kind of podcast, but this podcast is literally built on argument. So here we are. At least one can hope it does.

[2:45] Abby: One can hope. It's been a minute since I've talked with both of you. And I'm really excited that you're both here. Do you have any glots before we get into, I suppose, Glackett grievances? What are your thoughts right now?

[2:58] Claudia: My super basic glee thought is that Andrew probably hates both of our guts because it's been so long for us to be here, to be together. It's been a really long time. I've also been, as I've said to you in a private channel, Andrew, just I've been macro dosing on Gleek of the Week. I've kind of fallen off a little bit in my podcast consumption, been in a little bit of a glee fatigue space, but we're getting back. We're getting back and we're going to show back. So today I listened to like three to four full episodes. The past couple of weeks I've just been binging, man. I've been binging. And I feel like I'm in the right headspace to be here today.

[3:38] Andrew: That's what I want. We're so glad to have you. We're so, we were sorely missed from the community when you were out of recess. Claudia, how long have you not been on for? How long has it been?

[3:45] Claudia: Long time, man. I don't even know. Maybe like, I want to say September. Is that crazy to say? It feels earlier than that, but maybe that's right. I mean, I'm pretty sure the last time I was on was with Patrick and back then we hadn't met in person and now we have.

[3:59] Abby: And now you have. I think I see Claudia here with Connor.

[4:05] Claudia: Oh, I don't even remember. You see, that's what happens sometimes. I don't remember the last time. I know I was on with Emily. I don't know when. I don't remember.

[4:15] Abby: I think that you were on more recently than Claudia because I secretly have not been really liking Claudia's vibe. So I've been trying to keep her away.

[4:22] Claudia: You know what's crazy? Before you even contacted me, I was like, yo, bro, it's been a minute since I've gotten on Gleek of the Week. And I was like, like, if they ask me, if Andrew asks me right now, I have to tell homeboy no. And then you asked me, and I was like, I can't tell this guy no.

[4:34] Abby: You can't. I can't do that. Especially with Claudia. The last time we linked up, it was legendary.

[4:42] Claudia: Of course. I can remember the episode. I don't remember the episode. I just remember real life.

[4:47] Abby: Wait, I yeah, because I remember we had a really great conversation. But what were the songs even? Okay, I want to say Mary's Little Boy Child.

[4:57] Claudia: Oh my god. That was a long time ago. I want to say Endless Love was in that episode.

[5:04] Abby: Really? Rest in peace, babe.

[5:05] Claudia: Rest in peace. That feels right. That does feel right. I want to say Thousand Miles.

[5:09] Abby: Oh my god. Yes.

[5:10] Claudia: This is all topsy-turvy. We were talking about like brunette on brunette crime.

[5:14] Abby: Yeah, yeah, yeah. This was like, at least this is like, a year and a half ago.

[5:17] Claudia: This is over a year ago.

[5:19] Abby: Yeah. Wait, I was just fucking around. I didn't think it was actually a year.

[5:22] Claudia: No, I really think it was.

[5:24] Abby: Holy shit.

[5:25] Claudia: So the other songs in that episode were I Look to You, Bohemian Rhapsody.

[5:30] Abby: Now it's coming to me.

[5:32] Claudia: And Gives You Hell.

[5:33] Abby: I Look to You outfit. I remember that.

[5:34] Claudia: Yeah.

[5:39] Abby: I actually haven't watched Glee in probably in like a year and a half.

[5:43] Claudia: Well, you're deep in your river deep.

[5:46] Abby: I'm deep in the river deep, but it's not like I'm watching Riverdale, like, outside of the hours that I have to watch it for the podcast. You know what I mean?

[5:52] Claudia: You clock in, you clock out.

[5:53] Abby: No.

[5:56] Claudia: I clock in, I clock out, you know, three, four hours of the week. And that's pretty much it. But like in terms of TV, I haven't watched Glee. I've been in a wicked space as many know. But I'm like, I can't wait.

[6:09] Andrew: Wait, what are you gonna say, Andrew?

[6:11] Abby: Oh, I...

[6:12] Andrew: Wait, I want you to finish your thought. And then we'll circle back.

[6:15] Abby: Okay, we'll circle back. I was talking to someone earlier, but I was like, I cannot wait to like get into whatever psychosis or depression that I enter and then have to restart it because I need something to grasp onto.

[6:25] Claudia: Totally.

[6:26] Abby: And like regress like a baby does when they like go back to sucking their thumb. And it's tough for me to watch Glee again. Because I feel like Glee gets funnier the longer you're away from it.

[6:35] Claudia: Oh, yeah.

[6:36] Abby: Because the jokes are just like... And like, for me, my experience, every time I rewatched Glee, I was like older and older. So I would gain more knowledge. So the joke would be funnier and funnier. So I'm hoping in this space away, every joke lands just where it needs to be. And I'm just... I can't wait, honestly.

[6:52] Claudia: There are some jokes still that I'm like, I don't think I'm old enough for that joke yet.

[6:57] Abby: I still think that there's still humor to be unlocked. The stuff that comes out of Sandy Ryerson's mouth. Like, I will never really... I'll never be mature enough for that.

[7:07] Andrew: Wait, the thing that I wanted to circle back to, Abby, was that I know that you were really deep in your Wicked fandom. And you really were controlling that space on the interwebs.

[7:19] Abby: Controlling that space.

[7:22] Andrew: Okay, now that it's like, kind of... I don't want to project this ideology. But it's kind of... Wicked is kind of dead on site. Oscar nominations have come out.

[7:33] Abby: Listen, it's... Listen, let me talk to you. It's a tough road. It's a tough road for a baddie. You know what I'm saying? On one end, I'm like, oh, thank God it's over. You know what I'm saying? We don't have to, you know, keep... Because it was low-key. Like, it was driving me nuts. Because...

[7:46] Claudia: Full-time job.

[7:47] Abby: It's a full-time job. You have so many of those.

[7:50] Claudia: So many of those.

[7:51] Abby: Too many. You know? And like, I'm still in it. But in terms of like, I'm glad like, the big stuff is over. Because like, I mean, I was waking up 8 a.m. to watch Oscar noms. You know what I'm saying? Once they said Elle Fanning, I turned my shit off. I was like, oh, it's over. It's all over.

[8:03] Claudia: So I turned it off, and I turned it back on. Because I was like, okay, like hair, makeup, production. You know what I'm saying? And then boom, it was like, oh, a big fat zero. I was like, something's awry. Something's off. You feel like, this is not normal.

[8:19] Abby: So you know what? It is what it is. At the end of the day, like, I love to, you know... It's all fun and games. And I got really into film and Twitter because of all this stuff. Not into film Twitter, because it's like a cesspool of disgusting people. But like, I've been watching the movies that are coming out. So that... Because you know, like, when you're talking shit, but you don't know anything. Like, I wanted to have a point of reference so I could talk my shit. So I watched these movies. And so I can say, like, these people are talking out their fucking ass. A bunch of favoritism.

[8:45] Claudia: Okay, I was gonna... This is a great medium to talk your film Twitter shit. Because I would love to know your thoughts on these films. As this is a point of connection between Andrew and I. We talk about Glee and movies, and that's about it.

[8:56] Abby: Oh my goodness. That's it. End of list. Okay, so I watched... I saw the other day your Oscar nom reel, Andrew.

[9:02] Andrew: Oh, of the Glee is Best Picture.

[9:05] Claudia: She was the co-director on that.

[9:07] Abby: Did I get collab credits on that one?

[9:10] Claudia: She was responsible for... You Created a Monster. Sue Lyne for Frankenstein. That went through quite a few rounds about it.

[9:19] Abby: Can I hear some iterations? Can I do the one?

[9:22] Claudia: Yeah.

[9:25] Abby: My favorite one is slow motion. Principal Figgins. You're a monster.

[9:32] Claudia: And then the other one was... And this just felt like... I don't know. It was Mercedes going, come up to the lab and see what's on the slab. And I'm like, that's like, I don't know. That's already a movie, you know?

[9:45] Claudia: Yeah, yeah, yeah. Okay. Also today, after listening to Gleek of the Week podcast with Ian and Allison. I wanted to pull up for myself Mercy. And the YouTube video has like a chunk of the scene before that.

[9:58] Abby: Yeah.

[9:58] Claudia: And Vocal Adrenaline Girl goes, he's a monster. So there's a lot to work with there. Frankenstein is the one best picture nominee from this year that I have yet to see. I've seen 9 out of 10. Frankenstein, I don't know if I'm going to get to it. It's just not really my bag.

[10:15] Abby: It's on Netflix, mama.

[10:16] Claudia: I know, but I don't care. I just don't care. I didn't see F1. And Sentimental Value. I'm waiting for Sentimental Value. I think you'll like Sentimental Value.

[10:26] Abby: F1, I put in my fucking predictions. Did people clock that? I predicted that F1 would be in the 10.

[10:34] Claudia: Well, I feel like Apple bought that nomination.

[10:38] Abby: Yeah, possible. We have to think about the genetic makeup of the Oscar voting pool. It's a bunch of white old men.

[10:45] Claudia: Right. This is important to discuss on a Gleek podcast.

[10:47] Abby: Yeah, it is. We have to talk about it and talk about it. And if you really think about it, it makes sense why... For example, I was listening to another podcast that was talking about the awards, the people who got nominated. And they're talking about how a lot of these people who vote are just old guys. So you'll see that reflected in the winners. So they hate when young guys win. So young guys won't win an award, but a young woman will win an award. But a lot of the times when a young woman wins an award, it's in a role that's... They're really going through it.

[11:16] Claudia: There's a lot of suffering.

[11:17] Abby: We love those. It's either suffering or sex. They really love those big categories. Because it's like, oh, and also usually hot. Because old white guys love younger girls. And this is not to discredit them, because they got the nod. But there's like some pattern. And because, quote, my one black woman who's one lead actress in all of fucking Oscar nomination history, go look at that fucking role. That shit was...

[11:42] Claudia: See, truthfully, I've never seen Monster Ball.

[11:46] Abby: Neither have I, but what I've heard, terrible.

[11:49] Claudia: Honestly, this is so interesting and important to be talking about on the Glee podcast. Because something that I've heard a lot about with the F1 nomination is also just that they needed some sort of box office success.

[12:01] Abby: Blockbuster.

[12:02] Claudia: Yeah, blockbuster. Like a popcorn movie to throw in there. And theoretically, that could have been a wicked slot.

[12:10] Abby: Do you want to know something really interesting that I literally just saw about F1 before during this recording? Is that F1 is the first Best Picture nominee to not have a director, screenplay, or any of the acting nominations since Beauty and the Beast in 1991.

[12:31] Claudia: Isn't that crazy?

[12:33] Abby: Pretty bad pit performance. Like it's pretty... He's phoning it in. Like it is nothing special. I like the movie fine. It was fun to see on the big screen.

[12:42] Claudia: Yeah, I was also just going to say when you were talking about that with the young woman who's hot and sexy and goes through something bad. We didn't see anything like that in last year's Oscars at all.

[12:55] Abby: Yeah, it's kind of insane. I had another thought about that, but I've since forgotten. So Wicked, I just felt like immediately after watching Wicked part two for good, is that I was like, okay, I'm kind of glad that I didn't like it because I'm glad that I kind of can leave this behind. They didn't leave me wanting more, you know?

[13:18] Claudia: There were points that I liked about the movie for sure, but largely I thought that I was like, oh, this was not nearly as good as the first, which whatever. My thoughts on this is that when I sat and I watched, okay, I watched it the 17th. I watched it twice in one day because I watched it once with an oomph and then I watched it with my siblings because I wasn't supposed to watch it with my siblings. And they're like, oh, you're going to watch the movie today. And I was like, no, you motherfuckers wanted to tag along, but okay, fine, whatever.

[14:47] Abby: So I watched it. My first watch, I was overstimulated as fuck. Overstimulating because I had never met oomph before. So I'm like, okay, hey, hey, hey, we're now meeting. You know what I'm saying? Are you going to come?

[14:56] Claudia: Oh, you've never met oomph oomph.

[14:59] Abby: Okay, got it. I was like, what are you talking about? You're talking about one of my followers. First you went with oomph and then, okay, got it.

[15:00] Abby: They were set up.

[15:03] Claudia: I was like, are you going to kill me? I don't really know you like that. Are you here? Do you feel me?

[15:06] Abby: No, but they're chill as fuck.

[15:08] Claudia: That's great news.

[15:09] Abby: But I was overstimulated. They were saying like you hadn't met your siblings. I was like, that is overstimulating. That would be a big meaning. Also see a bad movie with your siblings for the first time.

[15:18] Claudia: So pause, so pause, so pause. So when I first watched it that first night, I was like, okay. Three. When I watched it again and again, I was like, okay, you get over the pacing issues. And then I'm like, okay, boom, four, 4.5. Because you really put your heart into it. You know what I'm saying? Sure. And I think gowns, beautiful gowns, girls, beautiful girls. At the end of the day, act two is shit.

[15:30] Claudia Klinck: It's like, you know, it's like, how did we get here? You know what I'm saying? That line of like, when Glinda's like delusions of grandeur, like, yeah, yeah, we are having that. We're definitely having that again. I just, yeah, go ahead.

[15:43] Abby: When I watched it the third time, and I'd watched Wicked right before, and then watching right after, it feels like a lot better of a movie, because it just feels like a movie that's getting faster and faster, like the pace is picking up. So that's, I think the best way to experience it.

[15:46] Abby: Act two is just shit.

[15:48] Claudia: That's really what it comes down to.

[15:50] Abby: Well, it's just like, are you saying act two of the movie?

[15:53] Claudia: I'm also, are you gathering in the stage?

[15:56] Abby: The stage, the stage. Here's the problem. The source material is...

[15:58] Claudia Klinck: That's, that's one of my favorite things about the first movie as well, that exactly where it really feels like the momentum is like building and then like defying gravity is so earned. And it's like, they really nailed it in such a way that it's like, oh my god, I can't wait to see how this continues. I think that, and this is specifically for you, Shanice. Shanice has been on my ass about like, because I posted on a McGuire guy Instagram story that I did not like Wicked. And she was like, when are you going to talk about on the podcast? And I never have. And now here's me talking about Wicked part two for good. My biggest gripe with Wicked part two for good is that it just like, didn't build anything like we knew that it was going to be much longer than the actual act two of the stage show.

And I was like, okay, we're going to build out, you know, some of the flaws with act two, I just thought like the time jump into like, where we literally start in the movie part two, that it's like, oh, like, we could have like had like a little bit like Glinda coming back to Shiz and like, kind of being like, and then like a five years later thing. Like, I just want to and I want to like, even just like, I want to see Glinda go to the governor's funeral and reconnecting with Nezum being like, I thought like Elphaba was gonna be here. They didn't like add shit. The main thing that pissed me off was that like characters like Fiyero and Bok being Scarecrow and Tin Man. I'm like, I want to see them link up and have a conversation while they're doing shit with Dorothy.

We don't need to see Dorothy's face. I think that's a really interesting like creative decision to not include that. But I'm like, I want to see these characters like actually like acknowledge each other. Because I'm like, we didn't get that obviously in the stage show. And how do we still not get it in the movie?

[17:42] Abby: It also was like, I felt like specifically the Fiyero bit was, I don't know if it was a pacing, I don't know what but like, it was it was saved for shock value. But then the way it was like, and of course, most people probably have seen the musical and like, know, that's how it's going to end. But it's like, played for shock value, but then not actually like a warranted payoff. So there's just, yeah, source material, context, I don't know. I also it's like they stayed, they adapted Act Two, like they just adapted it. You know what I'm saying? It's like, okay, like, I want some lore. Like, what the fuck do you mean Nessa Rose is the fucking governor? Who told you that shit? Girl, aren't you 17? You're 18. And they gave you the fucking gauntlet? Like, now like, like that, like, I would have loved to have, like, more like what she said, Andrew, like more intermission things like what happened, they just like straight into it. And it's like, I would have—

[18:39] Claudia Klinck: What they fill the time with is these like these, I really hate because like, it's obviously a popular opinion, the fucking original songs, which like, did not stick the landing by any means.

[18:49] Abby: Wasn't worth it.

[18:50] Claudia Klinck: Yeah.

[18:51] Abby: I've been saying that in the bubble and no place like that.

[18:53] Claudia Klinck: No, you cannot end a song with the word pop. I'm so sorry. That just like will never work.

[19:01] Abby: Why?

[19:02] Claudia Klinck: It's less annoying to me. No place like home was way more annoying. Yeah. Because at least—

[19:08] Abby: No place, a girl in the bubble has like, okay, visually like pretty.

[19:12] Claudia Klinck: I was thinking the same thing.

[19:13] Abby: You know what I'm saying? So it's like, okay, I can look better.

[19:14] Claudia Klinck: We're going into mirrors. Oh, shit. And we went into mirrors a few, few more times.

[19:18] Abby: Oh yeah. They ran out of things to do. Yeah.

[19:21] Claudia Klinck: I think it's, first of all, they, it was once I saw it was two hours and 18 minutes and PG, I was like, okay, it's fucking clipped. Because I needed to, like, I needed it to be darker than it was. Like, I actually would have wanted them to lean into it a little bit more. And I think they were so caught up on the fact that people were like, wicked, when was too long that they chopped it up too much. And they made like, they took out things. And I think like, they hadn't finished that shit since to like a week before. Fucking I'm sure.

[19:53] Abby: Someone, someone get Abby the original cut, she will be trusted with it.

[19:58] Claudia Klinck: No, like, how I just like, I thought it was so it was so impressive that they did define gravity so well, and then equally impressive that they fucked up for good. That bad. You know what I mean? And I'm like, why am I like, I was like, I was going into the movie I wanted to cry and I didn't.

[20:15] Abby: No, but that's fair. The first time I watched I wanted to cry and I also didn't. But the door scene really like the door.

[20:20] Claudia Klinck: The door scene was great.

[20:21] Abby: The door scene was beautiful.

[20:22] Claudia Klinck: The acting is great. Like, they still know how to act their asses off. It's the blocking and the cinema. It's persuasive. And they were going to shoot with planes. And it's like dark, but not dark. Like, it's just like, desaturated in a way that like the first movie was too. The first movie was also kind of desaturated. Like the colors looked super weird. But then this they're like, trying to make it like, spooky, ookie, but then like, not actually like commit to that. Yeah, that's weird.

[20:48] Abby: I think they just needed, they just should have spent more time with things. I feel. I mean, listen, if I had to fix Wicked, I think I would have just made Fiyero die. And hear me out, he would just be dead. I'm sorry. And I would have had, because here's the thing with a movie where it's like, Fiyero dies, no good deed, amazing, beautiful. Thank you, Cynthia. Your life has changed. And now I like the song because I used to not like the song.

[21:13] Claudia Klinck: Oh my god, that was my favorite part of the movie.

[21:16] Abby: Me too, that was the best part.

[21:17] Claudia Klinck: I used to not like that song. And I knew she would make me like that song. I wasn't a fan of the melody. And she absolutely fucking killed it. And it's like, now I'm crashing out. And then Oh, actually, fucking nevermind, Fiyero's back. Girl, there's no stakes. There's no stakes. And now it's like, I wish I would have like seen more of her thought process of like, because girl, and here's the thing about no place like home, like fine, you add new songs, like, I don't really care too much. You start no place like home having a team like, oh, like, y'all might change the ending because having her leave, I've never really fucked with that for real. Like, you know what I'm saying? Like, I get like, not putting the fucking activism book bag on forever.

Like, you know, take it off hand to somebody like, I fuck with that. You know what I'm saying? Like, I can relate to that. But at the end of the day, like, I would have loved for her to be like, damn, like, I really did say no place like home, but like, low key. Like, yeah, it's so quick. And the thing is that like, she gets the letter from like, Fiyero. And it's just like, actually, uh, Glinda, I surrender. So it shows that she wasn't even thinking about leaving. She was gonna wreak havoc for who knows. And I would have loved her to slap like, Dorothy, kidnap a sheep. I don't fucking know. Kidnap a sheep.

[22:19] Claudia Klinck: Oh my god. I was like, I was so excited to watch part two because in part one, we see Dorothy for that split second, walking Toto on a leash. And I was like, I can't wait for that shit to come full circle about an animal being possessed. And I thought it was.

[22:34] Abby: I think it was. No, when? I think no, no, no, not in the movie. I think it was part of the fucking script. Oh, okay. Like I wanted to see it. In the other cut, the penalty cut. I also, my ideas for Wicked part two were maybe too grand for its own good. I also wanted Bowen Yang and the other girl to be the trees that threw apples at Dorothy and the gang.

[22:54] Claudia Klinck: That's smart. To have more than one line.

[22:58] Abby: I wanted them to, I wanted to find out the origin of the trees. I thought the trees were really interesting characters that maybe, maybe a spinoff, don't you, if you're listening? Anyway, and last, my last gripe with this fucking shit. Now that I can fucking say that Universal, I don't know if any work for Universal. Any of us. You never know. People be having NPC jobs all the time. You have no idea. That's true. Like, I don't fucking know. You do like accounting for them. Listen, read my fucking lips. Okay. Cause I can't read words. You bum bitches. You greedy, money hungry whores who did the, you, you bitches. First of all, you took away my Cynthia and Ariana for good commentary. I'm beating your fucking ass because that was the best part about the Blu-ray for part one.

I want to hear Ariana talk shit about Fiyero. I want to hear Cynthia talk about fucking doctor. I want to hear about their acting choices. I got to hear none of that. You wicked hoe. Okay. Oh yeah. Using their own name against them. Right. Exactly. Two, you, you, y'all let these two beautiful, gorgeous, kind women get pulled through the fucking mud and said nothing, did nothing. You don't even do, you don't even do what like evil people do. Like start a smear campaign on somebody else. I don't know. That's what evil people do. It is. Wake up the jeans ad again. You know what I'm saying? Like do something, wake it up, shake something. You did nothing. You let these people get dragged with mud.

You're fucking shit. And then three, I know you bitches had something to do with why this movie was so bad and I can prove it. I got to be, because the fact that the best fucking scene, the door scene, they wanted to take out. John M. Chu had to cry, beg on his fucking knees and be like, no, I can't, I'm not taking it out. I'm not taking it out. So I can tell they're grimy little greedy fingers that are probably leaning towards conservatism and the right and trying to get all their fucking money and limit the gay bitches. Cause that first part was gay. As I was seated in that second part, I was like, this is the straight cut. I can tell it in my bones. Mind you, I don't need to see bitches kiss for it to be gay.

[25:03] Claudia Klinck: They also got rid of the, they also got rid of the tree origin part. I'm sure of it. I need to find out.

[25:08] Abby: Which also would have made it way more gay. The trees are inherently queer coded. They took away my forehead touch during For Good. I have footage of it now, but that shit's, I needed that shit in the fucking movie. That's not enough. So Universal, I'm on your fucking ass and you're a fucking dud and I hate you for what you did to Wicked For Good. Everybody else, beautiful girls, beautiful gowns, beautiful ballgowns. I'm so glad that we have part one. And I do like part two. I actually enjoyed part two might controversial opinion. I think I like sitting through part two more than I like sitting through part one because part one makes me sad because it feels like a dead wife montage. And also when I watched Wicked after I'd seen Wicked For Good, I was like, I literally was sobbing from start to finish.

Cause I was like, Oh my God, dead wife montage from Glinda's perspective. You know, like when they're in popular and they lay down, they're looking at each other. I'm like, anyways, the first half of Wicked part one is like, I love it. And then it gets to like post, like Dr. Dillman gets taken on, like, Oh my God, it's like, it's getting sad, but at least like all of like part two is sad. You know, it's just, you know what I mean?

[26:25] Claudia Klinck: I hear what you're saying. The tone is consistent. That's a good thing to keep in mind in a film. And I'm glad we just had film corner.

[26:31] Abby: I'm glad that we had film corner as well. We were due for a Wicked part two recap. And I just have a question. What are your, out of the 10, the top, the 10 that are nominated, what are your guys' choice? Also, my one thing I need to say is no other choice was absolutely snot.

[26:47] Claudia Klinck: Oh my God. I love no other choice. I really thought it was going to make it in for best picture.

[26:51] Abby: Nothing. It's a conspiracy. No cinematography. I was like a Shirley. That's a lot crazy. We don't have to go. We can, you guys can reach out to me and my, my secret Reddit, just kidding. I don't have one of those, but there's, there's some stuff with like, there was some controversy with the writer strikes and something iffy with, with no other choice, but it was like, it's a little bit up in the air and there's like, maybe that's why and they kind of like held that against him, whatever. I love no other choice. You'll send an Oscar to a rapist. Yeah. So it's like, you know, so I don't, it's like no other choice that got stuff. And I think that's my top four. I think it beats Marty Supreme. I think it beats bugonia.

I think it beats, um, my secret secret agent, no shade, maybe mine. Oh God. No shade. No shade. I ha I watch it after a long day and I had a really bad day and I just didn't like the way it ended and it just tainted the whole experience for me. Cause I was really upset. I was really upset. It's also long. It's a very long secret agent. I haven't seen it yet.

[27:59] Claudia Klinck: Yeah. I went to see the secret agent this weekend and I loved it. And I think I'm looking at my letterbox list of 2025 and that's beautiful. Secret agent is number four sinners is number five. So sinners is very close. And then one through three, we're not nominated for best picture. Sorry, baby's in there. Sorry, baby's number two. Number one was blue moon. That's crazy. Okay. And then number three was on becoming a guinea fowl. I haven't heard of great. Okay. You probably haven't heard of it. Great. You probably haven't heard of it. Um, everybody's wondering what my number one of the best picture. Um, I really, I really liked begonia is my number one. I think that just like, I just liked the way that they, they told that story.

I thought it was really interesting. And I thought, oh, but like everybody was locked in. And I think that what Emma stone was doing of like towing this line of like, okay, like with the audience, like, Hey, we don't know if she's telling the truth or not is like such a thin line to walk. I don't think that she deserves another Oscar for it. But I think, yeah. So incredible work. Great. Emily. Um, great work, Emily.

[29:06] Claudia Klinck: Speaking of Emily, speaking of Emma Glee, speaking of Glee, my favorite one, my favorite one before we go with sinners. I think I know I have a feeling they're going to do something heinous. They're going to give it, they're going to get a screenplay and that's gonna, that's gonna be it.

[29:21] Abby: That's true. It's going to happen because I think this is true. Paul Thomas Anderson, you can suck my dick. And if to anybody who said one battle after another is a love letter to black woman, I need you to know, go fucking laid out again. They need to get a grip. I was literally, are you fucking kidding me? Who said that bro? No Twitter. I was like, Oh, I stay off of that. I liked one battle except for the way that it treated the black women in the movie, which is a big part of it. Exactly. It was, I was like, Oh wow. Like you can just tell this like 26 year old fucking white film, bro. It's like, Oh my God, this is a love letter. Cause it just has black women. That's why, because it has black women to love letter. Fuck you guys.

[30:30] Claudia Klinck: So, do we want to do a speed round of Glockenkruvences? What do we think? Claudia, starting with you.

[30:36] Claudia Klinck: Yeah, I kind of have speed ones written down, thankfully. I think the big one is Sweet Transvestite over Love Song. And I haven't heard people on recent episodes get mad about that. I'm not mad about it. Sweet Transvestite is great. I think that is the only case where you keep talking about how mer-solos are doing too well at the expense of rolos, etc., etc. And I felt that all the mer-solos that I've gone through have been warranted, except that one I feel like was a little, I don't know. I don't know. I get it.

[31:10] Abby: Oh, really? I think that the one kind of unwarranted, and I really do like this one, is Natural Woman. I love that. And I know that you really like that one.

[31:17] Claudia Klinck: That's one of my favorites. I also have the Toxic vs. Faithfully was honestly nasty work, but obviously it's Faithfully. I recently did my own Glackett exercise, as I keep telling you, Andrew, and Faithfully was second. So I don't really know what's going to beat Faithfully, except for the one that beat it, of course, in my Glackett.

[31:39] Abby: Wow.

[31:39] Claudia Klinck: Who beat it?

[31:41] Abby: Paradise, unfortunately. I did that whole exercise for no reason, because I kind of knew that that was going to happen. And then your obsession with the Dancing Queen is honestly pathological. I just don't understand it at all.

[31:53] Claudia Klinck: I love Dancing Queen.

[31:55] Abby: Thank you, Abby. I just, I don't get it. Well, I think I'm still mad because you ranked that over Boy Is Mine, and I still miss Boy Is Mine. And she should be here today.

[32:03] Claudia Klinck: Dancing Queen!

[32:07] Abby: What song is that?

[32:07] Claudia Klinck: You just hit a note that I could not register.

[32:09] Abby: You couldn't hear? I was singing Dancing Queen.

[32:12] Claudia Klinck: Oh, I know.

[32:12] Abby: It will be in the Quick Time. It will be in the episode.

[32:14] Claudia Klinck: Thank God. And I still haven't found what I'm looking for. And I was sad for her to go. And okay, I think those are my grievances.

[32:24] Abby: Um, you're looking at the Glackett right now, I take it?

[32:28] Claudia Klinck: I am. So yeah.

[32:29] Abby: So when I did my, my, because I always do this thing where I look at the Glackett and I have to, I like try to guess like, oh, like, what they put through. I was stunned to find out that my man did not beat Phoebe. I was gagged.

[32:44] Claudia Klinck: But do you agree? I feel like you might.

[32:46] Abby: I mean, I was like, I didn't even put my heart out there to even say four minutes. I didn't let myself believe. So I was just like, Oh, man.

[32:53] Claudia Klinck: So then when four minutes I was like, I was conflicted. I was like, whoa, because I so thought that my man would take it.

[32:59] Abby: I think my man is Rachel's best solo for me. I think that there's just something about it that really gets to me.

[33:06] Claudia Klinck: But four minutes I do love.

[33:08] Abby: Electric.

[33:09] Claudia Klinck: It's electric. So what was the reason? I am curious because I think do people not like my man as much as I thought people like?

[33:14] Claudia Klinck: So, yeah, when that episode did come out, we heard a lot about it. And we can cut this out.

[33:22] Abby: No, I'm not saying that. I'm just saying.

[33:26] Claudia Klinck: Yeah, but the reasoning behind that.

[33:29] Abby: So I voted. It was an episode with Patrick and Emily. And Patrick and I voted for four minutes. Emily voted for my man. The reason that Patrick I don't want to speak for Patrick. I can only speak for myself. I voted for my man for four minutes over my man because four minutes is like, like I just said, electric. My man is carbon copy original. It's like she's doing the Barbra Streisand thing. And what I like about a song and a lot of cases is when they kind of like make it high school, make it their own.

[34:02] Claudia Klinck: Yeah.

[34:02] Abby: And I think that's like four minutes is so much high school Americana core. And so I think that my man has since been voted back into the it's in round four, the glacket and live to see another day.

[34:15] Claudia Klinck: But no, but I get what you're saying. I do get what you're saying. I agree with it completely. I think I would have been compelled. I would have also voted for, I mean, for, you know, we only have four minutes to save the world.

[34:27] Abby: To save the fucking world.

[34:28] Claudia Klinck: You know, you have to.

[34:29] Abby: And they use it wisely.

[34:30] Claudia Klinck: 30 minutes. Yes.

[34:32] Abby: 30 minutes. Yes.

[34:34] Claudia Klinck: So that one, I was shocked. I don't I'm not mad at it. I'm not mad at it at all. But I was I was gagged.

[34:41] Claudia Klinck: Next up on my list that I was gagged by. I thought Jesse's girl was going to beat you. Keep me hanging on.

[34:48] Abby: Oh, that got me.

[34:51] Claudia Klinck: So I have I have further. You're hitting these right in the head, Abby, because breaking news, breaking news. Jesse's girl has been voted back as well. Love song is dead forever.

[35:04] Abby: Love song is dead forever.

[35:07] Claudia Klinck: Y'all are crazy for that. I should have. Oh, I should have voted. And so is tonight.

[35:14] Abby: That's crazy.

[35:15] Claudia Klinck: That one. Jesse's girl OP, some would say.

[35:18] Abby: Wow, that's crazy. I was on the same page as you with Jesse's girl. Like, for me, there are so many other good follows that didn't make it through that, like, having him stick around just to be a follow.

[35:30] Claudia Klinck: Yeah.

[35:31] Abby: Didn't work for me.

[35:34] Claudia Klinck: Here he is.

[35:36] Abby: It's me in the spotlight.

[35:38] Claudia Klinck: OK.

[35:39] Abby: That's definitely my favorite.

[35:41] Claudia Klinck: Yeah, I think that was my favorite one as well. And my last one is not necessarily one of the greatest, but it's like a.

[35:48] Abby: So emotional versus the scientists, I would have I think I would have gotten so emotional on that one.

[35:55] Claudia Klinck: Explain why you would vote for so emotional.

[35:57] Abby: Oh, I mean, when you put the MP, I mean, OK, the performance. Yeah, I can't get it. But it's not that it's not that crazy. But when you put the audio version on and you just like listen to like the runs and like the vocals that they're doing, they're doing so much. They're doing it's so good. It's so fun. I love it. But I do understand exactly like exactly like what you just did, Claudio.

[36:16] Claudia Klinck: Wait, I don't even know what part of the song that was. What song is that?

[36:22] Abby: Yeah, yeah. I feel like it happens a couple of times.

[36:24] Claudia Klinck: Yeah, right.

[36:25] Abby: No.

[36:27] Claudia Klinck: No, it's like.

[36:28] Abby: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.

[36:30] Claudia Klinck: At the start, I was like, OK, I don't know why I like it. I just do.

[36:34] Abby: I just do.

[36:40] Claudia Klinck: Yeah, OK, there we go. Thank you. I need the context.

[36:44] Abby: Yeah, but that's pretty much it. I'm not really mad at anything. I was shocked that Mercy made against I was crazy.

[36:50] Claudia Klinck: Oh, that was really insane. I didn't really care, but I was shocked.

[36:53] Abby: Same.

[36:55] Claudia Klinck: But yeah.

[36:56] Abby: Why did Mercy make it? Is it because vocal is better than country dance or?

[36:59] Claudia Klinck: Listen, Ian Allred and Allison Dodge were the guests that week. I, of course, voted for the correct decision, which was I have the time of my life, which I thought was easy. They had it. They had it in the basket or whatever you want to say in the basket, in the bag, in the bag.

[37:17] Abby: There we go.

[37:17] Claudia Klinck: It's not in the box.

[37:19] Abby: It was in the container, in the vesicle.

[37:22] Claudia Klinck: I was like, something does not sound right here.

[37:26] Abby: But Allison and Ian were poking holes in Mercy and they were just like saying that Cordova Street sounds. The episode speaks for itself. They said what they said in the episode.

[37:41] Claudia Klinck: See if you agree with their reasoning.

[37:44] Abby: Yeah, I do. Like I've had that song got significantly better when I realized that Mercy and Santana are at the end. They're helping Diana out. There's a line in season one where Will goes, we'll just layer Quinn with a Mercedes and Santana. And he did that shit. It happens.

[38:02] Claudia Klinck: It had to happen.

[38:04] Abby: When Rachel's like, I'm not singing anymore. And Quinn's going to take the lead for Don't Stop Believing. And then they're like, this is not going to work. He's like, it's fine.

[38:10] Claudia Klinck: Like, oh, I know what you're talking about.

[38:12] Abby: Yeah.

[38:12] Claudia Klinck: So I was like, wow, that's hilarious that I don't know if they did that on purpose, but I think it's very, there's continuity there.

[38:18] Abby: I also do have to. I don't care that much about time in my life. But that is important a little bit to me because my friends surprised me for my birthday last year by putting me in a dark room after kidnapping me and putting me in a car. And then I opened my eyes and my friends did a flash mob to I've had the time of my life. I don't know why that was the one they picked. Like, that's really not.

[38:38] Claudia Klinck: Did they not do Valerie as well?

[38:41] Abby: They did add Valerie. Yeah, my friend did a Valerie solo. That's probably why. But that is in my brain. But I definitely would have picked it over Mercy. Mercy is so, like, nothing to me. I don't know.

[38:50] Claudia Klinck: Yeah, I wouldn't. With respect.

[38:52] Abby: Is it even on?

[38:53] Claudia Klinck: Mercy is fine. I like Mercy.

[38:55] Abby: No, to be on the Clackit, you got to be on streaming.

[38:59] Claudia Klinck: Yeah, so Mercy is on streaming. And like, it's a good stream. I gotta be real. It's like, I'm listening to it and I'm like, I'm vibing. But it's like, if Boogie Shoes didn't make it to round four of the Clackit, and that's a vocal adrenaline slay, then what are we doing here? Like, at some points, you have to just be like, okay, like, we have to, like, we have to get serious about the songs we're choosing. Mercy's not gonna win the freaking Clackit.

[39:24] Abby: Well, I think that Mercy, so far, I think that we have 79 songs in round four of the Clackit. 79 songs. And I'm looking at the entire list. I will say definitively, Mercy is the weakest.

[39:36] Claudia Klinck: That's good. It's good to have that in there, I guess.

[39:38] Abby: Yeah, yeah. I have a lot of empathy for you after doing my own Clackit exercise of like, shit's gonna get crazy. I did my exercise based on already like, a narrowed down pool, because I just shuffled my like, Glee playlist. And then I put them up against each other. So it was immediately really hard. And I, I don't know, it's gonna get crazy on this damn podcast, man. I can't wait to see it.

[40:00] Claudia Klinck: It might get crazy.

[40:01] Abby: Tonight.

[40:04] Claudia Klinck: What are we manifesting? What are we thinking?

[40:06] Abby: I have some...

[40:07] Claudia Klinck: Go, go, go, go.

[40:08] Abby: Oh no, I was gonna say, from this exercise specifically, I was remembering some heavy hitters. Is Season 6 Home still around?

[40:15] Claudia Klinck: It is, yeah.

[40:16] Abby: I have a lot to say about that.

[40:17] Claudia Klinck: I have a lot to say about that one.

[40:20] Abby: Positively, positively.

[40:22] Claudia Klinck: I love it so much.

[40:23] Abby: I want something like that. Or like a, I don't know, one of these like, sleeper heavy hitters.

[40:28] Claudia Klinck: Take My Breath Away is not around.

[40:30] Abby: No.

[40:31] Claudia Klinck: Oh my god, their best duet, bro.

[40:33] Abby: It was so beautiful. Top 10 duets. Top 5 duets of all time. It's really, really great. It makes me cry.

[40:38] Claudia Klinck: It does.

[40:39] Abby: Oh my god.

[40:42] Claudia Klinck: I don't really want a Santolo because I'm not in the place for that right now.

[40:46] Abby: I can't really do that right now.

[40:47] Claudia Klinck: I see the last episode was called Nayacapella?

[40:50] Abby: Yeah.

[40:52] Claudia Klinck: Nayacapella.

[40:53] Abby: Nayacapella.

[40:54] Claudia Klinck: It was, but there's only one acapella song that she sings on there.

[40:58] Abby: So I was confused as to the name.

[40:59] Claudia Klinck: What is it? The Nayacapella, it was the beginning of Shake It Out.

[41:02] Abby: Of course.

[41:03] Claudia Klinck: She sings at the beginning where, before the instrumental comes in. It's cute.

[41:07] Abby: Shake it out, shake it out.

[41:09] Claudia Klinck: That's more of the original, not the glitter. Happy birthday to my, even though it's past, but happy birthday to her.

[41:13] Abby: What kind of song do you want?

[41:16] Claudia Klinck: I want something that feels like family. Because that's, I'm feeling like, I need just like family. You know what I mean?

[41:21] Abby: Beautiful.

[41:22] Claudia Klinck: I just want that, you know? I'm gonna have that. Glee and Wicked is family to me. That's why the parallels are so important. I just want a family.

[41:28] Abby: Oh, it's not fucking family.

[41:31] Claudia Klinck: We've got family in this song.

[41:33] Abby: Oh, we do?

[41:33] Claudia Klinck: No, no. We've got family.

[41:35] Abby: It is family coded.

[41:37] Claudia Klinck: And that's kind of like a, what you're singing right now is like kind of a disco vibe song.

[41:49] Abby: No, that's not.

[41:50] Claudia Klinck: Is it the one with the suits?

[41:51] Abby: The suits.

[41:53] Claudia Klinck: It is the one with the suits.

[41:55] Abby: Staying alive.

[41:57] Claudia Klinck: Here it is.

[42:01] Abby: Bro, this shit's fucking fire, bro.

[42:03] Claudia Klinck: Good.

[42:04] Abby: That's good.

[42:04] Claudia Klinck: Did you see me with my dip, bro?

[42:07] Abby: You had every choreography piece nailed. You had it down.

[42:11] Claudia Klinck: This shit was very important to me back in the day.

[42:13] Abby: Well, of course. I love this song.

[42:15] Claudia Klinck: That was fabulous.

[42:17] Abby: It was fabulous. Really good. I really, I did like that a lot.

[42:22] Claudia Klinck: I forgot about it. It was a start discourse. Listen, the cunty suits, the chain necklaces, everybody looks good as fuck. It's my sexual dream. The blowouts, you know what I'm saying? Like, I need to get in between everybody, okay?

[42:33] Abby: I was gonna say before you really get started, I wanted the three of them, I don't actually want the three of them to kiss, but I kind of do, and I don't, you know what I mean?

[42:41] Claudia Klinck: Yeah, but they need to.

[42:42] Abby: I don't really, but I kind of, yeah, they should. Like Barbie dolls.

[42:47] Claudia Klinck: Yeah, yeah, yeah.

[42:47] Abby: Yeah.

[42:51] Claudia Klinck: Okay, let's continue, sorry for interrupting.

[42:53] Abby: No, but, no, but like, right. I think it's so, I think it's so fun to just have, because at the start of like a season one, do you think like Finn, Santana, Mercedes would have ever been in a trio song together? That's just not, like, I would have never thought that they would do that. And then this is like the one song, and they sound so good. And like, I love that in this song, Finn and like Corey gets to do falsetto, so he gets to do high parts. And then like Santana also takes a high part in comparison to Mercedes, and they just like bounce off of each other. It's like such a great arrangement. And I think this whole episode is fun with arrangements because the guys are doing falsetto because it's the Bee Gees. And like, even for like more than a woman, like Santana takes like the lowest part, and like Finn takes the highest part, and it's like so fucking heaven. And then Kurt's in the middle.

[43:38] Claudia Klinck: Sexy.

[43:38] Abby: It's just, it's so good. Okay. They all like, I just, I just love, and it's like, it's like at that point of season three, where like, because Sue's like off their asses, so she's like helping them out now. And like, I'm surprised to hear.

[43:46] Claudia Klinck: With the baby bump.

[43:52] Abby: The baby bump. It's like Quinn in fucking, um, wheelchair.

[43:58] Claudia Klinck: Quinn in fucking, oh my god, I'm getting ancient texts. Wheelchair, I'm going to say wheelchair. Quinn in, what is something Quinn is in?

[44:05] Abby: Wait, everybody pause.

[44:06] Claudia Klinck: Yeah.

[44:07] Abby: Skanks?

[44:08] Claudia Klinck: We're going to set the roof off, you motherfuckers.

[44:10] Abby: Tell the roof off, you suckers.

[44:11] Claudia Klinck: Oh, give up the funk.

[44:13] Abby: Yes, give up the funk. When she's dancing with the baby, it's like, Sue is the, that's, we needed to finish it off. Finish the soap ball. Beautiful gowns.

[44:21] Claudia Klinck: Beautiful suits.

[44:24] Abby: Staying alive. I really do love this episode. I think it's a really good one, especially like when you're in high school and you're about to graduate, you don't know what you're going to do with your life. It's so good.

[44:32] Claudia Klinck: I will say, something, I really felt like an adrenaline watching the first part of this song when they're in the hallway. But something does feel, I don't know if you'll agree, something does feel cursed once everybody joins in on the stage. I just like, there's something about watching them all do, this will like maybe not land at all. Please let me know if it does. But like watching them all do the choreography.

[45:00] Andrew: What, like 16 people? Yeah. There's something that was like very alarmingly apparent that something bad happened. I think something bad happened while they were shooting the stage portion of "Staying Alive." Okay. Do you understand what I'm getting at? Like the vibes are off. There was something about the vibes that kind of like was scary to me. And I don't know how to—

[45:22] Abby: No, it's not a throw up. You seem to be hinting something very specific and I don't know what you're talking about.

[45:25] Andrew: No, no, no, I'm not hinting anything specific. I'm picking up a vibe while watching "Staying Alive," the stage portion. And I'm like— So how come it's the stage production of "Staying Alive"? The stage production of "Staying Alive." Which it was. I mean, yeah. The hallway portion just like, oh my god, they look so sexy. The close ups, everything. But then they get to the stage production of "Staying Alive." And I'm just like, I don't know, there was something about like the fact—people are probably gonna be like, Andrew, what are you even fucking saying? And that's fine.

[46:00] Claudia: No, it's okay.

[46:01] Andrew: But I'm like, thinking about like Jane Lynch and Lea Michele and Jenna Ushkowitz and all these people just like combined learning the choreography for this. Sure. Just like there's something that—I hear what you're saying. Just like really is twisty in my head. You know what I mean? And let me say, I did note that the punching portion, Lea is in the corner and she's punching really hard. I did note this. Right. You'll find this in my notes. You'll find this in my notes. So there you go on that one.

[46:24] Abby: The whole house is mad. Do you understand what I'm saying?

[46:28] Andrew: Had to win the fact that she had the headband. I was thinking about that. She's the only one with a headband. She looks the best. Earn it. And like, she probably bought somebody for it. Lea, Jane Lynch, who knows? Really? Jane Lynch with a headband. She wanted it. She wanted that shit bad. And she got it. She had to do what she had to do. I think they probably learned the choreography an hour before shooting. You know what I'm saying? Because, you know, by this point, they weren't. I mean, it was shit to the wall. Like, it was like very late. Everything was last minute. They recorded it that morning. Things are probably really tense. It's the end of season three. Rachel's gotten to 8000 solos.

Jenna's gotten zero. Choke hasn't choked. Props hasn't happened yet. Yeah. High around this point of time. I believe it. I think it's—and it's like all you know what I'm saying? It's not like a classroom. You know, I think I pick up what you're putting down. But also, I think you've had to talk about this song so many times. You just got to find some, you know what I'm saying? You have to find something else to talk about. And this is—and I'm picking up that it's curse is what I'm getting at. That's the song does.

[47:28] Abby: Yeah, I like it. I've been listening to a lot because I've been streaming the remaining songs playlists. And this song has obviously come up a number of times. And every time that I listen to it, very, very fun. I brought it up last time. I love the note of that. Amber does the—

[47:52] Andrew: Really, really great. Did that come through on Zoom?

[47:58] Abby: Yeah, totally. I think really, really fantastic. And I just think that like Corey, his voice really lends itself to the Bee Gees. I just love him. I was thinking I sometimes I have confusions in my brain with these episodes of like certain songs get swapped in my memory. And I was thinking I didn't like "More Than a Woman." That is false. That is an excellent, excellent cover. And before I love it. I really don't like Leah's cover of "How Deep Is Your Love." It's like, I've like, she's a great singer. And that's like, you know, not really something people are arguing about. But like, it is like a—like a boss job. I think it's—I don't mind it. I and I love the original song. Like I love it so much. "How Deep Is Your Love." I think she—

[48:49] Andrew: This is another song. What song did she botch that I talked about on Twitter? I was like, she botched this fucking shit. She botched. She be botching shit, bro. She does sometimes.

[48:59] Abby: Wait, I want to know that what the song that you said that she botched.

[49:02] Andrew: I don't know. Do you like it? Was it an Instagram reel? I was like your birthday month and your Glee song. And I was you are the only exception. So I sent that to Andrew, his favorite role.

[49:21] Claudia: Your favorite role is favorite role. Okay, do we have anything else to say about "Staying Alive"?

[49:29] Abby: Love Jenna's headband.

[49:31] Claudia: Yeah. Like this conversation has been like, wow, like, I really did miss you guys. Like really, like, wow. Oh my god. This is family. This is bonding. This is love. This is totally family.

[49:42] Abby: My other comment is that I recently tried to watch film Corner Film Corner. "Saturday Night Fever" the movie for the first time in my life. I've never watched.

[49:48] Andrew: Sucks.

[49:55] Abby: I don't remember liking it. There are so many Letterboxd reviews that are like why watch this movie when the Glee episode "Saturday Night Gleever" exists. So many Glee mentions. So I'm really glad that we watched this together because I just watched it last week and I couldn't get through it. It's like, boring and like, bad.

[50:08] Claudia: Say every possible slur that you could ever think of.

[50:15] Abby: He wants to become a priest. Is that right?

[50:20] Andrew: No, his brother was a priest and then drops out of the priesthood, I guess. I didn't get all the way through it. But like, John Travolta just is like terrible. Women says horrible things to everyone. And especially some of the homophobic slurs.

[50:32] Claudia: The way you're looking and walking and moving and dressing. Not too much on that one.

[50:37] Abby: Yeah, right. Look in the mirror. Johnny Boy. The sound is so crazy time because it's been sparkles and like saying slurs. I'm like, literally, I'm like, I thought they were just like liberated at first. I was like, Oh, cool. Okay, gay boy trying to assault women constantly. Is that woke in its own special way? No. You can cut that.

[51:09] Abby: But then they like literally like try to like, they like threaten the lives of like some gay guy. I don't know. It's insane. You should watch "Saturday Night Gleever" four times instead of the movie "Saturday Night Fever" once. That's what I would say. Because that's just it sounds whack.

[51:24] Andrew: I found my tweet where I said, quote, Rachel, okay, the song in context is next to me next to me with a bear. Yeah. I said, Rachel always, Rachel's always at the scene of the crime when it comes to ripping the soul out of something. And then somebody else was like, I agree in this case, but give me another. Give me another example.

[51:44] Claudia: Yeah, another one.

[51:49] Andrew: Every R&B song she's ever sung and "Rolling in the Deep." No shade. Don't like "Rolling in the Deep." And I don't necessarily even think "Rolling in the Deep" has soul necessarily. I just don't like that cover.

[51:57] Abby: But yeah, that's what I wanted to say. Why am I blanking on any R&B songs?

[52:03] Claudia: You look so dumb right now, which is something like—

[52:07] Abby: But it's like, sometimes she just opens her mouth and just stop. And sometimes the pop songs too, because that was back in her Broadway days. It was very, very, you have to start slurring your words a little bit.

[52:16] Andrew: "Gives You Hell."

[52:19] Abby: I like that one.

[52:24] Andrew: Oh, I guess not. Okay. Sometimes it's so bad that it grows on you. Because now I like the fucking take whatever. Go ahead, Andrew. I forgot what it's called. "Wake Up Every Evening and Smile on My Face."

[52:39] Abby: Okay, this is kind of interesting.

[52:41] Claudia: I'm excited. I missed blackening.

[52:44] Andrew: Um, this is the season. Season. Oh, wait, do you want to Okay, wait, I'm gonna pull up the first.

[52:52] Abby: Yeah, I don't know if you're gonna get it though. Because it's—it's been a while.

[52:54] Andrew: No, but you're really good at this. You might actually get it.

[52:59] Abby: It's been a while.

[53:00] Andrew: The one time we did record together, you like, pick something out from like a screen grab of someone's hands.

[53:05] Abby: Yeah. This is sick.

[53:07] Andrew: This is okay.

[53:08] Abby: Paint the picture of what we're looking for.

[53:10] Claudia: We're looking at Sue and Becky a la season six probably based on the costumes and the way they look. Becky's in layman's clothes.

[53:17] Abby: Becky's in layman's clothes. Is it when it's not episode this season? Is this the I don't fucking know.

[53:24] Claudia: Is it Alanis Morissette episode?

[53:31] Abby: I don't think so. No.

[53:32] Claudia: Is it the fall of Sue or whatever?

[53:36] Abby: No. Is it? I don't have no idea.

[53:40] Andrew: It is. It is her locker.

[53:43] Abby: Oh, I don't remember anything. I can't I can't even name a—an annoying group number.

[53:49] Claudia: No, this is actually a "Sway Low" a "Sway Low."

[53:54] Andrew: Oh, this is indeed big for this one. We've been waiting for her. Here we go.

[54:02] Abby: I'll start by saying something maybe crazy. This is kind of a hard competition for me.

[54:15] Claudia: I really had fun watching that.

[54:19] Abby: You were beaming. You were good in ear to ear.

[54:23] Claudia: I was like, wait, this song is like low key. I had like an entire like, era of my life that was devoted to "Bitch" Meredith Brooks version.

[54:30] Andrew: And then I was—

[54:33] Abby: Meredith Brooks, who I don't know if she has any—

[54:40] Claudia: I don't know.

[54:40] Abby: The Meredith Brooks fans are gonna be like, actually, she has this.

[54:45] Claudia: There's no Meredith Brooks fans.

[54:47] Abby: I'm dead.

[54:47] Claudia: I think I got her name wrong.

[54:52] Abby: Meredith Brooks.

[54:53] Claudia: I think I made a pluralization of Meredith Brooks.

[54:56] Abby: But I just love this. I just love this song so much.

[54:58] Claudia: And obviously, I'll say the legal note. I don't even know if this is a legal note. But like, obviously, everybody was campaigning for this to be a Quolo.

[55:06] Abby: And yeah, I would have liked to have heard it. You know, the lyrics really make sense. But that also works for Sue.

[55:12] Claudia: And I think that we need to pay a little respect.

[55:17] Abby: Bitch, I really just—I really, really loved it.

[55:21] Claudia: That's beautiful.

[55:21] Abby: I thought it was so much fun. I love the sound effects that they used as well with the fire extinguisher and also slamming the students into the lockers.

[55:30] Claudia: It was like very, very loud.

[55:32] Abby: Very percussive.

[55:33] Claudia: Very percussive.

[55:33] Abby: Yeah, yeah. Pinnacle Sue.

[55:35] Claudia: Yeah, that was good for best sound.

[55:39] Abby: Okay, that was good for best sound.

[55:42] Abby: What do you think about this bitch?

[55:45] Claudia: Well, I'll tell you about this bitch.

[55:47] Abby: I'll tell you right now.

[55:48] Claudia: I do think that when I previously like before my watch that I did, where I was like, you have to watch every song I probably hadn't watched, I would probably skip it.

[55:56] Abby: You skip this?

[55:58] Claudia: I am not the biggest fan of Jane Lynch's songs in this show, unfortunately.

[56:06] Abby: But this one is fun.

[56:08] Claudia: And I do love Becky dancing in the back.

[56:10] Abby: Yes, it's so cute.

[56:11] Claudia: And having a good time.

[56:12] Abby: Beginning, end, end.

[56:13] Claudia: At the beginning, and I love, I forgot the fact that Sue like hired like a convict to be her secretary, which I thought was really funny.

[56:20] Abby: So funny.

[56:21] Claudia: Could you sing it along? I'm like, yeah, that's really fun.

[56:24] Abby: And I think this is so like, like a full circle moment to like season one. I mean, she never really actually stopped abusing kids.

[56:33] Claudia: But you know, it's very like season one, like, you know, when they play that song, whenever she goes into one of her ranges.

[56:42] Abby: Yes, I couldn't hear it.

[56:45] Claudia: Yeah, you were at such a pitch that Zoom wasn't picking up.

[56:48] Abby: Yeah, which I think like low key, that might be like one of the best jokes in all of Glee where it's like, I think it's in the Super Bowl episode where like, Sue leaves Figgins office doing that tirade.

[57:01] Claudia: And then it cuts to Will talking to Beast in the locker room was like, you wouldn't believe it.

[57:07] Abby: She went crazy.

[57:08] Claudia: And then Sue comes in and does more storming out.

[57:13] Abby: It's so good.

[57:14] Claudia: It's really good.

[57:38] Claudia: You've been putting it off.

[57:41] Abby: What do you have to say?

[57:42] Claudia: Okay. Along with the lines of what you said of that's a hard competition. It's like, almost less hard than I thought it would be in a direction I wasn't expecting. What if I told you that "Bitch" was more quintessential Glee than a season three ensemble number?

[58:00] Abby: Like, it's just like—

[58:02] Claudia: I understand what you mean.

[58:03] Abby: It's a crazy bit of season six that like, reminds me that like, we all gave it way too much shit when it was coming out.

[58:13] Claudia: We're like, there are little pockets in this season that like, really get back to the heart of what was so great and like, signature of this show.

[58:23] Abby: Like, namely this character and the like, ridiculousness that she brings to like, these storylines.

[58:31] Claudia: I totally agree.

[58:32] Abby: I think that "Bitch" could be airlifted out of season six, emergency zone.

[58:38] Claudia: Totally.

[58:40] Abby: Helipad and be taken over to season one and like, just dropped in.

[58:46] Claudia: And I think like, it could be like, reworked a little bit.

[58:49] Abby: Like the editing, the shots aren't inherently.

[58:52] Claudia: Yeah, it's a little bit too crisp.

[58:53] Abby: Her makeup is too good.

[58:55] Claudia: She looks really good too.

[58:56] Abby: She looks a little bit too glam.

[58:59] Claudia: Yeah, we have the glam, waist slash, you know what I'm saying?

[59:20] Abby: Like victory lap.

[59:24] Claudia: Sorry.

[59:26] Abby: No, it was really good.

[59:28] Claudia: I just like those parts of season six where it like, reminds you of like, where we started.

[59:32] Abby: And along with that, it's a fun number to watch.

[59:36] Claudia: And I think a great vocal for her.

[59:38] Abby: It's true.

[59:39] Claudia: They give her kind of like, funny songs to sing.

[59:42] Abby: But I think this is my—I know "Vogue," you know, it should have gone to that girl.

[59:47] Claudia: It is.

[59:47] Abby: But for me, I think maybe, maybe that is that girl.

[59:50] Claudia: But I really like "Bitch."

[59:51] Abby: I really do.

[59:52] Claudia: And I like streaming it.

[59:54] Abby: It's good to listen to.

Yes, like there's something specifically about this song that like when I do listen to it and I do listen to it a lot, I really just think it's so masterful.

This arrangement that they did and it always compels me to sing along regardless or not, I just really really love it so much. It's really great. And also, can we just talk about the song first and then we can get into the claim of it all after? Yeah, please. Well, who are you talking to? Bring up, I feel like I've been here for this one. It was in the round two finale. I don't know if that was a... Let me look up if that was a competition with... Maybe I was just really locked into listening to you talk about it because I do know that you have thoughts about the claim. Wait, so it says, okay, so in the round two finale, it was three pairs of individuals. The two of you were included, Claudia and Connor for the first competition and that was I've had the time of my life versus whistle, right?

And I definitely voted whistle. Yes, and then Abby, you actually have seen this song before because it was you and Matt and it was the will you love me tomorrow, head over feet versus whenever I call you friend. Oh, I was on for hand in my pocket one time where, yeah, a couple times these mashups in this episode I want to work, but don't totally get there for me.

And I had a phase where hand in my pocket, I feel the earth move. It didn't click for me, but I have gone over that and that it really... You're over it? I'm so happy that we've gotten through that and everyone that's been here with me on this journey together. My question is, was it because you knew the songs beforehand? Yes, that's a problem. Yeah, I love... You can't know. That's what makes them the mashups better because it's like, oh, you don't know. Like for example, like when I was seated in West Side to watch West Side Story and they start... Oh. I don't even know who TLC was. Oh, well, well, I was probably eight years old. Oh my god, a freaking glistener saying that they weren't born when Glee came out really freaked me out.

I'm kind of baby Glee. Well, not really, but like I was young when it started and hearing that what's image? Oh, okay. Tag. But anyway, I was just gonna say that I think this has always like been the creme de la creme of this episode in terms of the arrangements and the mashups. Can I say big brain? Please thought maybe you'll agree. Maybe you dying here kind of the name of the game. Totally saying a thought. Yeah. Conversations just generally, but um, okay, so it's something while that struck me while listening to this song was that I think that this mashup was, I have not no proof behind this. I think that this was something that was done by someone on the music team ahead of time and they built the entire episode around like, oh, we really love this man so much.

Let's just make an entire episode of Alanis Carol because I think that this one is definitely the strongest. Yeah, of all of the mashups and then they were like, oh these ones also work just not as well, but like it's like let's continue. Sorry, I think it's like our darndest. I think let's just try our darndest. I mean, yeah, I do. Very very cute. I think this one like seamlessly, it is seamless into each other. Yeah, it's also such a good showcase of those two which like I really forget about how strong of vocalists they are. They're really good because they're not appreciated. Yeah, I'm like underutilized. So this is like such a good, it's a very good pairing of the two of them. I don't care too much for that like storyline because it lasts half an episode, but like they're good at singing together.

That's beautiful. At least there's that. At least we have that. We'll always have Alanis Carol mashup. Yeah. And my freaky twin sister. Thanksgiving, can you imagine? I didn't really care. I, you know, I don't really care too much about them in season and my grandpa season six is that the new kids? I don't really care too much about. I do want to focus on the OGs, but I do appreciate what they bring because they have really good vocals. They can all sing except for... Except for, yeah. Spencer, not like other guys. I say this, if it was another day, Hard Day's probably would have won, but for today just didn't hit for me and I think this song hit exactly where it needed to to like, you know, come back from the deficit that it would have been because any other day. Yeah. Okay, it's a nice song. It's a Santana song. I do like that. I don't mind out. I've streamed it. I stream it. I don't stream this. I've literally never streamed this song ever once in my life before. So wait, you've never streamed? I didn't know the words. I was mumbling and then I started to learn the words as we kept going on it.

You had... Oh wow, your definition of fake it till you made it. Yeah, I made it baby. I shout out to the Amy Winehouse cover of Will You Love Me Tomorrow? So because that's a good shit. Shout out. That's my original to me even though that is not accurate it is no, okay. Thank you lioness. Yes.

[1:28:20] Andrew: Okay, so we're ready to vote.

[1:28:27] Abby: We are.

[1:28:27] Andrew: Wait, I don't think I'm gonna say actually I do think that A Hard Day's Night is literally kind of what's happening right now.

[1:28:34] Claudia: Totally, totally. It was a hard day, but it's now a hard day's night. It's 8:58 p.m.

[1:28:57] Andrew: Yeah.

[1:29:06] Claudia: Okay, my baby.

[1:29:10] Abby: Not that it's wrong.

[1:29:10] Andrew: So I did come on, Mr. Okay, Mr. Pity vote enough. It's okay when he does it, but not when us beautiful girls do it.

[1:29:18] Claudia: Okay, sure.

[1:29:25] Andrew: No, it's just like, okay.

[1:29:27] Abby: Fine, I so like literally like if the hardest I've ever seen for me. I've never received that.

[1:29:34] Claudia: I don't throw bone. I can bones.

[1:29:41] Andrew: That's fucked. I enjoy your baby.

[1:29:41] Abby: Okay, you can throw a bone. You can throw a bone.

[1:29:46] Claudia: I already know how this movie's gonna end. My heart, it's Will You Love Me Tomorrow. Will you know it's to me? Love me tomorrow. Will you know it's to me and my heart like that's the one. Yeah, I invented that and people are now using my invention.

[1:38:42] Abby: She is wearing... It's the same fucking dress.

[1:38:46] Andrew: Rachel's outfit is really bad. Try to tell me that that's not the same dress that she's wearing in "Love Song," right?

[1:38:54] Claudia Klinck: Maybe. I can't tell it apart without the tiny yellow belt.

[1:38:58] Abby: I'm not a gamer. I'm an artist.

[1:39:02] Claudia Klinck: I do want to say that a joke came to me when you texted me is that they say at the end of the scene that they're like, let's go do some shopping and I'm like, girls, I cannot think of a better time for you to do some shopping because look at all the shit that you got me.

[1:39:20] Abby: Whose outfit do you think is the best though?

[1:39:22] Claudia Klinck: I think it's Quinnie.

[1:39:24] Abby: What?

[1:39:26] Claudia Klinck: She looks so bad.
