[0:00] Andrew: We've got a mission to find the best song that's ever been on Glee. There's no rhyme or reason to it, so don't get mad at me. Gleek it by Gleek it, we'll rank everyone to see which song will move closer to spot number one. Gleek of the Week, Gleek, Gleek, Gleek of the Week.

[0:30] Andrew: I'm recording. I actually didn't check my audio levels.

[0:38] Ian: I think we're fine. And if we're not fine, we're not fine. And you'll find that out when you edit it.

[0:43] Andrew: Listen, I mean, it probably came across in the edit. A lot of these times, I'm just using the Zoom audio. It's coming across. I'm just like, it's so much easier.

[0:55] Ian: No, that's fair. Just if my computer on the off chance it dies, my audio quality will get shittier because it'll stop going from this professional mic and start going to this unprofessional mic in my camera.

[1:05] Andrew: Wait, Ian, it was so funny. I forget what episode it was of Recovering Gleek where you were like, hey, just want to let you know the audio quality is like really bad on my part. And I'm like, I was listening. I was like, surely it can't be that bad. When you finally get to it, it was, it was bad. Not to be like that. But like, I was like, oh, a warning was nice.

[1:23] Ian: Yes, because I literally I didn't Oh my gosh, I had turned up the gain all the way without noticing it. So anytime I talked louder than this, the audio got blown out. And I was like, well, it's too late now. We're not going to rerecord the whole episode. If you want to hear me talk about Glee, this is what you get.

[1:42] Andrew: Yes, you have to pay for it. It's home. It's a punishment.

[1:45] Ian: Yeah, I'm really intimidated as the only non-professional podcaster here. So we'll see how that goes for me.

[1:50] Claudia: Claudia, this isn't the first time that you've been like the odd one out. And also like you are a professional podcaster because you're not sure I am actually your family members are like, Hey, Claudia, we know we know about your other identity.

[2:04] Ian: Yeah, I need to talk about that. I don't know this lore at all.

[2:08] Claudia: Are we in the episode? You're the host, babe.

[2:15] Andrew: I think that we kind of are. And if you've listened to most any other episode, you probably know these voices. It is Claudia from Recovering Gleek.

[2:21] Ian: And Robert Ulrich back again. Thank you so much for having me.

[2:27] Andrew: Perfect. It's Robert Ulrich doing a really good Ian impression.

[2:31] Ian: I pardon part of my big fan of Recovering Gleek. I've got the impression down.

[2:38] Andrew: Yeah. Thank you for loving our work.

[2:41] Claudia: Yeah. Do you want to do you want to speak more about your family?

[2:45] Ian: Oh, yeah. I was driving in the car with my whole family to see a complete unknown at my local Alamo draft house in northern Virginia over Christmas. And I don't really know how it came up. Maybe my parents are actually really proud of me for having a podcast presence. They're like, that's really good. I doubt you'll be able to monetize that someday.

[3:05] Claudia: Perfect. My brother just said that like, I need to stop talking about it because it's really embarrassing.

[3:11] Andrew: Is this going to reach your brother? Because I have a response.

[3:15] Claudia: Okay. No.

[3:16] Ian: Your brother was famously at the gleet up.

[3:18] Claudia: Yeah, because I forced him to this. Did we talk about this? I think we talked about this.

[3:24] Ian: You can reveal whatever you want to say about that.

[3:26] Claudia: Well, my little brother came to town to visit me. He's 20, almost 21. Not all that little, but he came to visit me to see Cabaret with me, which is kind of I don't know, out of character. But that same day was the infamous gleet up. So I did take my brother to the gleet up. And he said it was interesting.

[3:46] Ian: He hated it. It wasn't for him.

[3:49] Claudia: He didn't hate it. He was just like, deeply disturbed about like, why would like grown adults be this invested in the show that like, he just like, why do you guys all like, identify with this so hard? And I was like, I don't you don't know what it's like to be gay. I guess I don't know what to tell you.

[4:06] Ian: I said, pretend it's Star Wars. And then it'll make sense to you.

[4:11] Claudia: Right? But in that perspective, I went to be with Elias's family over the holiday break. And I was with his brother. And like, his brother was like, Oh, like the Glee podcast, the Glee pod. He was just like, you know, whatever. And he's like, do you want me to listen to the Glee podcast? And I just like said, No, it's not for you. And he took like offense to it. And I was like, Wait, is that offensive? Like, I feel like that's complimentary.

[4:35] Ian: I think so, too. He my brother, like pulled up the Spotify while we're in the car. And he's like, wear your cheerio uniform to Chicago. What the fuck does that even mean?

[4:48] Claudia: And he's like, your name is here so many times. This is so embarrassing. And I was like, I will not apologize for this. I feel shame about a lot of things, but not this.

[4:56] Ian: Yeah. Okay. Not wait, I want to bring it back to something that you just shared the complete unknown. They didn't even sing the damn one song that they sing on the hit Fox show Glee in complete unknown. And I was like, wait, probably a Bob Dylan song on Glee.

[5:07] Claudia: Oh, it's make you feel my love. Italy and Michelle for saying Bob Dylan. I forgot. Yeah, yeah. But man, he can write a song.

[5:24] Ian: Wait, or really? Yeah. Yeah, I realize that. And he's saying, what's the like a Rolling Stone? Yeah, the one with the lyric complete unknown in it.

[5:35] Claudia: Yeah, I think that like twice. And I was like, what's the title of the movie? They have to. They have to.

[5:43] Ian: Yeah, I have to wait. And did you see complete unknown?

[5:49] Claudia: No, I haven't seen it. I have not seen most movies that have come out in the last month.

[5:52] Ian: How many times do you see Wicked though? This is a gotcha question.

[5:52] Claudia: I've seen it four as well, but I've also and you've made it to the cinema to see other things.

[6:07] Ian: Yeah, including the four hour long Brutalist.

[6:13] Claudia: Oh, I know that you've seen Brutalist too. We're one of five people that won the Golden Globe winner for I don't even know what it won like four. Don't tell me I'm only four words in the guy from Shogun just watched just one.

[6:27] Ian: I literally was watching spoilers for the Golden Globe. I'm behind. I was at a viewing party for Zach Faust and his roommate on a TV show last night. I couldn't watch live, which I was invited to and I was not feeling well yesterday. And I heard and I was mad. I wasn't invited. So I feel like Patrick big time.

[6:56] Claudia: Yeah. Wait, where were we? And I was literally watching the Golden Globes. Good thing I didn't know what I looked at. He won because or what they won because I didn't even spoil it for you.

[7:07] Ian: Yeah, I looked at the time I said I have to go. I have Gleek of the Week. How's this? I have to I'm sorry, Nikki Glaser. I'll come back later.

[7:16] Claudia: Yeah, good job. She did a good job.

[7:20] Ian: Oh, that was so fun. I don't even know who she was, to be honest.

[7:26] Claudia: Um, I started watching her comedy special on a plane a few months ago. And like, I liked it, but I did turn it off.

[7:34] Ian: I know Nikki Glaser, because Glacier.

[7:44] Claudia: Oh, no. What did I say? Glacier?

[7:49] Ian: Oh, no. Glacier winter.

[7:56] Claudia: Nikki Glaser. It is out there. It is cold out there. I'm trying to look up this queen's name, which is so embarrassing that I forgot her name. Not Glacier, because not her.

[8:09] Ian: You guys, there's a whole story yet. I haven't got to the story yet.

[8:12] Claudia: I know Nikki Glacier, because on RuPaul's Drag Race All Stars nine got Mick famously plagiarized their entire roast from a Nikki Glacier set. Like word for word beat for beat took every joke from Nikki Glacier.

[8:30] Ian: I do remember that. I didn't watch it. I remember people talking about that, though.

[8:40] Claudia: Yes, that's pretty good. Yeah. And then when people asked them about it on Twitter, they were like, well, Nikki's my queen. So I had to use some of her jokes for my own and then did a little like nail painting emoji.

[8:56] Ian: Oh, okay. That's solid. I appreciate and accept that apology.

[9:02] Claudia: Solid like a glacier for now. Not for long.

[9:09] Ian: We can really just go in any direction.

[9:12] Claudia: Yeah. Wait, is there anything else that we need to discuss before we start with Glacket hot takes? I didn't even tell you to bring Glacket hot takes, but you know that it's assumed. It's assumed.

[9:30] Ian: Okay. I have my notes on my iPad. iPad, baby.

[9:35] Claudia: Yeah, I have my notes on my iPhone. I know the iPad baby go first.

[9:42] Ian: Yay. Okay. I don't even know. There haven't been that many episodes since I was on, but.

[9:50] Claudia: Okay, brag. Sorry. Quick brag. I should be really embarrassed about the fact that I've been on so many times.

[9:56] Ian: You should be proud. Your brother's wrong.

[10:00] Claudia: Yeah, he's always wrong. Honestly, there's been a few that have been bummers to me, but I kind of get it. And I wrote in my notes app, like the title of the song that lost with just like a frowny face, which is going to have to be somebody loves you. That was actually a claim duet. I forgot both of their names and I forgot what I was going to say, like a clolo or something.

[10:27] Ian: They are the audio media in the room with us.

[10:30] Claudia: Yeah. And that isn't just a Zoom background. That's actually live there. And they are behind me. And I said, fucking say a word. I said, if you speak, we have to pay you. So don't say that's like that's why Claudia is shouting out. Somebody loves you because the plane is in the room with us. They're pointing a gun.

[10:50] Ian: I guess I really missed somebody loves Darren. Chris is weeping over my shoulder.

[10:56] Claudia: Oh, sorry. So sad. They're so sad.

[11:04] Ian: Yeah, I like that a lot. Sorry. No, I'm going to say color coordinated. They are very much my shoulder angel and my shoulder devil.

[11:12] Claudia: Totally, totally. Got a little blue Blaine, a little red Kurt. The more you talk about it, the more I realize that this will need to be clipped.

[11:20] Ian: Okay, yeah. I'm like, that's really a claim.

[11:27] Claudia: Oh, my God. Have you been here? She's also there.

[11:30] Ian: Oh, my God. She was I didn't tell her where I live.

[11:35] Claudia: Don't you get here?

[11:38] Ian: I can't get over the fact that it looks like you're wearing away. It's really great.

[11:44] Claudia: Do you like what you do? What do you can compare with mine today? You can talk about somebody loves you. I promise. I'll be quiet.

[11:56] Ian: I promise you will have the I don't have all that much to say about it because it, of course, is against somebody to love. But I was just sad to see her go. Whatever.

[12:02] Claudia: I, of course, don't support your weird obsession with Damien McGinty and letting that get in the way of come see about me having her time to shine.

[12:16] Ian: It seems like he's pointing a gun to your head in the past couple episodes.

[12:20] Claudia: Who's off camera? Who's off camera?

[12:23] Ian: Yeah. Where is he? Is he behind you? Pan over. I'm not going to reveal Damien McGinty's whereabouts at this time, however.

[12:35] Claudia: No, I feel like I've already said what I needed to say.

[12:39] Ian: Yeah, you've said it. You've said it. You just don't get it.

[12:44] Claudia: I don't get it. It's like whatever. It's fine. I get it kind of.

[12:49] Ian: But oh, Ian, you sent a really funny thing today that me liking take care of yourself and voting for it against come see about me was my no good deed from Wicked Act 2.

[13:02] Claudia: Yes, it was. It was specifically it was you saying, let our laws be agreed. I'm wicked through and through with you casting the vote for whatever that song is called.

[13:16] Ian: No good deed.

[13:20] Claudia: No, no good. Oh, take care of yourself. It's also the worst. How many does he have his for Christmas is better than that.

[13:29] Ian: No, it's not. Don't do that. It's not easy. Being green is better than that.

[13:33] Claudia: Being green. I do like more than take care of yourself. I don't know what else there is home harm.

[13:42] Ian: Oh, yeah. No, that one. That one. I really don't.

[13:46] Claudia: We go harm. That is the worst. I don't like that one.

[13:49] Ian: Okay. And then my other again, like bummer one is cold hearted. Obviously, I'm honestly I'm pretty sure I voted for cold hearted to come back over paradise just because I was mad that you voted for survivor I will survive which is my biggest grievance because that's one of my lower ranking trouble tones numbers and my favorite one is edge of glory, which I guess is technically not the OG trouble tones whatever but that one is out went out round one. So I'm pissed is what I'm saying here.

[14:15] Claudia: Wait, what did cold hearted lose to New York state of mind New York state of mind, which I kind of I think I honestly probably would have voted that way.

[14:25] Ian: Oh, but again, again, I was going against I was going against you killing paradise just to bring it back.

[14:35] Claudia: Okay, I think I need to check Can I see what I voted for? I think I can you're saying a lot. I'm not really sure. I don't know what I'm saying. You're even agreeing with yourself. I feel really confused. Just generally today. I'm glad that you're here. I've been dealing with a hangover for like 36 hours to be honest with you. And I don't know when it's going to go away. Should I just start drinking?

[14:56] Ian: No, please. Yeah. The dog baby. Should I just start drinking? The dog that dumb bitch? Yo, I already Abrams. Isn't that your talking? That's your Twitter? Claudia? Bloody Mary?

[15:07] Claudia: Yeah, it was. But now I'm not on that app. All right. Are you blue sky? Are you threads?

[14:44] Claudia: Good-bye.

[14:46] Ian: Yeah, it's a good hello. Goodbye.

[14:47] Claudia: You peeked early?

[14:48] Ian: Yeah.

[14:51] Claudia: All right. Stop talking now probably.

[14:52] Ian: All right. Thanks so much for being here, Claudia.

[14:57] Robert Ulrich: Do you want to say anything?

[14:59] Ian: Yes! Thank you for having me on the podcast. Again, I just went back. I listened to a couple episodes from before I was on because it was only two episodes ago that I was here. Not two weeks ago. You know what I mean. Two episodes ago. I genuinely don't have a lot of issues I agree with most. Bobby, Bobby, Bubby. I love, best part of that song is when Elaine Stritch goes, Robby! She eats it. Okay, anyways.

[15:25] Claudia: Okay, go ahead. No, I am so sorry. Just keep on going. I was gonna say something. It was just, it was gonna be inconsequential. No one would be able to respond to it. Keep on going.

[15:35] Ian: Like when I referenced Elaine Stritch saying Robby and a hush fell over the Zoom call?

[15:40] Claudia: No, no. Okay, fine. I'll say what I wanted to say because I was gonna say my favorite part of the song is when, um, this is the version I listen to. Patti LuPone is like, oh, you'll never be a kid and again, kiddo. But that's not, that's not Bobby Baby Bobby. That's Big Alive. That's Big Alive! So best part, we're talking about Company, the musical, Claudia. The reason I'm pro-Elaine Stritch over Patti is because in the original cast recording, in Bobby Baby Bobby, Robby, there is a moment on the name of it. It's title of show, Company, is what the track is called. There is a moment at the end of that song where the entire ensemble goes, we love! And they hold love for like 20 seconds. Elaine Stritch, God love her, massive smoker. She cannot hold out the note. And if you listen, she slowly starts to go flat as she runs out of breath and then fully just stops singing and just stands in silence and comes back on, you! And it makes me laugh every time.

[16:53] Claudia: Oh, that's so beautiful.

[16:54] Ian: Yeah. Another moment like this. Sorry, this is before my grievances. This is Ian's niche, old musical theater cast album Easter eggs. One of my favorite five minutes left before I love this segment. And that's I did. Yes. All of glacketing. Yes. No. Robert Ulrich only gave you 45 minutes. That's not true. Is it do we only have an hour? No. Okay. Gone and dead. I'll drop the topic if that's true. No, listen to the original cast album of Hello, Dolly! Starring Oh my gosh, Carol Channing. That's her name. And during put on your Sunday clothes. Just after the instrumental break, there is a moment when Carol Channing comes in and goes, Irma and Garth stop sniveling. Don't cry on the valises. But she counts it wrong and she comes in like four bars early. So you hear her go Irma. Irma and Garth stop sniveling. Like she comes in realizes that she's wrong and then comes in again. It's very funny.

[17:51] Claudia: And you're saying that's in the soundtrack?

[17:52] Ian: Yeah, that's in the cast recording.

[17:54] Claudia: What do you think the twist was?

[17:55] Ian: This is back in the day when they couldn't do you know, they didn't have the time, money and equipment to do all this fancy editing. So it was like we get in the studio with the orchestra. We're singing the take. And the take we get is the take that is being printed on the record.

[18:10] Claudia: That's so funny.

[18:11] Ian: That's awesome. She came in early, diva.

[18:13] Claudia: I'm loving this trivia. I'm learning a lot. I do have a goal. I have as much Broadway trivia I can get in the next 45 minutes.

[18:25] Ian: Okay, got it.

[18:26] Robert Ulrich: Because I have a recording of Recovering Gleek, my podcast with Ian.

[18:30] Ian: I can't, me, Robert Ulrich, I can't wait to listen. I can't wait to listen.

[18:36] Robert Ulrich: I know you can't. Bobby, Bobby, Robbie.

[18:39] Ian: Bobby, baby, Robbie. So I agree with like most every decision that has been made since the last time Ian was on the podcast, which is when I, Robert Ulrich, went back and did research on. The two that I have, I take umbrage with. Someone brought this up recently.

[18:56] Robert Ulrich: Umbrage.

[18:58] Ian: Two that I take Ulrich with. Someone brought this up recently. I don't, I guess I am a rare breed. That sounded so pretentious. I mean, like, I guess I just like don't know what the taste is of everyone else. Locked Out of Heaven, in my mind, is like, top quality glee. It is like one of the best of season four. I love that number. It gives me chills. It gets my blood pumping when they're slamming the mic stands on the floor when they're doing the amazing.

[19:37] Robert Ulrich: Oh, yeah. Wait, what did that lose to?

[19:40] Ian: Light of the World, which Light of the World is my favorite original song. So like, sure. But Locked Out of Heaven is a league of its own. And I miss her.

[19:51] Robert Ulrich: That was a Lena episode, no?

[19:53] Ian: It was not a Lena episode. It was maybe-

[19:56] Robert Ulrich: Oh, Lena said something about-

[19:58] Ian: I'm sure she did, because Lena and I are on the same page about that one.

[20:02] Robert Ulrich: Lena and Robert. Should we give it up now?

[20:04] Ian: Yeah.

[20:04] Robert Ulrich: Should we stop the bit?

[20:05] Ian: Hey, guys, did you know that's not actually Robert?

[20:12] Robert Ulrich: I tricked all of you. My other one is, speaking of Lena I do not envy the position any of y'all were in. What a difficult decision to make. I would have picked Paradise over Survivor, I Will Survive. And I love Survivor, I Will Survive. It's one of my most listened to Glee numbers. But I would have picked Paradise.

[20:39] Robert Ulrich: Well, she's back now. I mean, does that mean- but I understand it's fine. I'm like, I'm not mad about it. But I frankly, I was trying to come up with grievances because I agree with most of the things that happened.

[20:53] Ian: Oh, great. That's what I like to hear content wise.

[20:58] Robert Ulrich: That feels like what I ended up saying. I just walked and talked in circles.

[21:06] Ian: Then do we want to talk about anything else?

[21:09] Robert Ulrich: I just remembered that I listened to this most recent episode within the past two hours. And I don't think it was a grievance. But I just wanted to go ahead and say that Outcast is a really bad original song.

[21:24] Ian: No, I literally, I didn't bring it up because Bitch ended up winning. But when Andrew McGuire in front of God and everyone said, I don't feel like there's a clear front runner between which of these songs is better.

[21:39] Robert Ulrich: Absolutely.

[21:39] Ian: I messaged him and I said, you guys don't get it yet. You guys don't get Outcast.

[21:45] Robert Ulrich: Outcast?

[21:46] Ian: You guys don't get it yet.

[21:47] Robert Ulrich: And I hope to never get it.

[21:50] Ian: It's really bad. One of my biggest pet peeves, which I think I've mentioned in the discussion of New York, I love New York, New York, whatever the fuck rhyming words in a stupid way. Oh, no, actually, that's not even the same complaint I want to give. They said like, they rhymed like Outcast with Outlast or something so annoying. Like, yeah, yeah. I feel like they also maybe rhymed a word with the same word, which is my real pet peeve is what I'm trying to say. I can't remember. But that was just really bad.

[22:18] Claudia: Feeling downcast, like an outcast?

[22:20] Ian: Yes. Yes. God. God. God.

[22:24] Robert Ulrich: That's not a rhyme.

[22:26] Ian: It's so bad.

[22:27] Claudia: I'm pretty sure that's the lyric. That's good.

[22:30] Ian: No, that's bad.

[22:31] Robert Ulrich: No, no, no, Andrew. Hey, Andrew. No.

[22:37] Ian: I don't know. It's like a bit. I know it's not a bit. I do like it. It's like it really. I always thought like, oh, this is terrible. This is terrible. I was like y'all before. Before you got your galaxy brain on.

[22:52] Robert Ulrich: Wow. You guys gotta get galaxy brained.

[22:55] Ian: I also feel like there's so many of those season four number is that season four or is it five?

[23:01] Robert Ulrich: That's four.

[23:01] Ian: Of like the kids running around on stage that I generally like. And I think I have a hot take that I love on our way. That's called. That's one of my favorite numbers of the season. And I'm pretty sure that's also out of the blackout. But now she's gone. But I just like those two exist in the same place for me. But outcast is significantly worse. So I would've been pissed off. But yeah, bitch. Easy winner. Easy.

[23:28] Robert Ulrich: Yeah. A landslide victory. And it's not even like, oh, well, outcast isn't very good. But bitch is pretty mid as well.

[23:34] Ian: Bitch is not I'm not gonna pretend it's one of my top songs. But it's fun. It's very fun.

[23:41] Robert Ulrich: Good vocals way better. When I was listening to the episode, the vocals are way more impressive than I remembered.

[23:45] Ian: Would you say because like to me with the three sway lows, it's sway.

[23:52] Robert Ulrich: Not why not sullows? Yeah, where did the egg sway? Hello?

[23:58] Ian: Because I'm I feel like I'm putting like almost like a Spanish. Like a like Spanish. What is the I don't know.

[24:07] Robert Ulrich: Dialect on it.

[24:08] Ian: At intonation intonation. Where would that cut? I don't think that's how the Spanish language works.

[24:13] Robert Ulrich: I'm spelling it like I'm it's like s you like like when you

[24:20] Ian: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. I understand. You decided that it was a Spanish word is what you just said.

[24:26] Robert Ulrich: Yeah, I hear that. I hear that. Every other word is English.

[24:34] Ian: The English

[24:34] Robert Ulrich: I actually think that is a Spanish word.

[24:38] Ian: That's not right.

[24:40] Robert Ulrich: Yeah. Um, so it means to usually do something so sway low is like I usually and you know, like, and you know what, like the the dramatic irony of that is that Sue usually doesn't sing.

[24:58] Ian: That's totally Yeah.

[25:00] Robert Ulrich: So wow.

[25:03] Ian: Galaxy brain at work. Y'all. Yeah.

[25:05] Robert Ulrich: Hey, you've taken all of my brain cells.

[25:08] Ian: Perfect. But I wanted to say of the sway lows, sullows that that bitches bitches the worst one of the three little girls in Vogue. Yes.

[25:22] Robert Ulrich: No, no, I like bitch.

[25:23] Ian: More little girls is the worst one.

[25:25] Robert Ulrich: Yeah, correct. Oh, yeah. Not saying that actually.

[25:30] Ian: You're dead. I'm canceled.

[25:35] Robert Ulrich: Put that soundbite on the carousel.

[25:38] Ian: Put that clip on always. I'm always recording. No, no, no. In the sense that no.

[25:44] Robert Ulrich: I'm the bottom.

[25:46] Ian: I'm the bottom.

[25:50] Robert Ulrich: I'm not even No, I'm not saying that other one again. Um, okay. Do we anything else before we say manifestations for this episode?

[25:59] Ian: No, I'm so excited to clock it actually. It feels like a game night. It feels like I'm hanging out with my friends having a game night.

[26:04] Robert Ulrich: I know I'm thrilled.

[26:06] Ian: I am like, I woke up today and I was like, Oh, God. The last thing I want to do is like make a really hard decision. So what I am manifesting since you asked him, just normal. I just want everything to be really, really, really normal.

[26:20] Robert Ulrich: Let's just keep it normal.

[26:22] Ian: It's so boring.

[26:24] Robert Ulrich: I have. Hmm. Maybe I shouldn't even say it. But based on one of the last songs that was pulled in the last episode, there's a song I really don't want to hear and cannot hear. So I'm hoping we don't get it from a sad episode. The sad.

[26:40] Ian: Oh, I know exactly what you're talking about. I really can't do that.

[26:43] Robert Ulrich: If you feel the same way, please put it back. I know when they pulled when they pulled the other one. I was like, I would have logged off. Y'all talk about this.

[26:52] Ian: See, I really can't do it.

[26:55] Robert Ulrich: Okay, well, that's all. That's all. Great.

[27:00] Ian: Okay, no, and then I'll give a positive manifestation. I do want one of the fun heavy hitter Rolos. I want maybe this time.

[27:04] Robert Ulrich: Oh, I want to see those those lights shine down on Kristen Chenoweth's eyeballs.

[27:15] Ian: Yeah, need it. Need it. I really need to listen to that again. That is an a prolo in my book. Rachel's not on the track.

[27:23] Robert Ulrich: It's so weird. And we'll talk about it later in the episode when it doesn't inevitably inevitably get pulled. But it is like it's so it does take me out every single time. Like that. I'm like, I'm watching Kristen Chenoweth. And then like the smash cut to Lee Michelle also singing. And she sounds great.

[27:39] Ian: Yeah, but I'm like, Oh, yeah. A prolo outcast stuck in my head.

[27:47] Robert Ulrich: We are we are we are I can't even remember what it sounds like. The

[27:53] Ian: Well, I remember I told Elias about outcast and he also didn't know what it was, obviously. But he was like, Are you talking about the hunchback of Notre Dame song? God bless the outcast. And if they did that on Glee, winner of the Glock. Can you imagine it is and they're talking about the New Directions. It's Mercedes Jones. And she is, you know, praying that the New Directions stop getting slushied. And she's going in the halls of McKinley going, I don't know if you can hear me. That'd be incredible. I would stream the crap out of that.

[28:28] Robert Ulrich: Well, I can't believe that you really pulled that out. I literally could sing every song from that movie right here right now. No lyrics in front of me. I'm obsessed with that.

[28:35] Ian: All right. That's really beautiful. And then you got you got I'm sorry, I'm telling you this right now. You got like only have 32 minutes. Zooms gonna kick us out.

[28:49] Robert Ulrich: Oh, no. You got like stoner Brett and he's like, I asked for wealth. And then you got Jacob and Israel and he's doing I asked for fame. And then you got a xenon Kraski and they do the I ask for glory to shine on my name. And it's all the other people praying for their own things. And then Mercedes Jones comes in.

[29:05] Ian: I messaged Claudia earlier today. And I was like, because I feel sorry about the carousel last week, y'all. You haven't seen it yet. It's bad. I just feel like it's not a good carousel. I texted I texted Claudia and I was like, Claudia, please bring carousel content because I can't live like this again. I can give you more. Okay, so for wealth. Well, I'm gonna finish the phrase. Okay.

[29:29] Claudia: I asked for wealth. Who did I say? Jacob and Israel. I asked for fame. I asked for glory to shine on my name. Now, and then, and then Dottie Casatori. I ask for love, I can possess. And then all of them- Wait, why are you choosing exclusively characters that aren't in the Glee Club? Someone has not seen Disney's Hunchback of Notre Dame.

[29:50] Ian: I've seen it, but like- I saw it when I was like six years old. So, Esmeralda. But there's not a Glee Club in that movie.

[29:58] Claudia: I'm not mistaken. I was in a Glee Club in the Hunchback of Notre Dame. The context of this song is Esmeralda is an outcast and she is praying, God, just help the outcast, like help us get by. Meanwhile, everyone else in the cathedral who is not an outcast is praying for superficial stuff like wealth and fame. And then she says, I ask for nothing I can get by, but I know so many less lucky than I. Because she being an outcast has like a giving heart and is praying for other people. It could also be Marley. It could also be a Marley feature. Okay. A gorgeous song. One of Disney's best.

[30:36] Andrew: Thank you, Elias. Claudia, you manifested this?

[30:43] Claudia: No. No, no, no.

[30:45] Ian: Oh, my heart dropped.

[30:47] Claudia: Me too.

[30:50] Ian: Not the one that you didn't want. Okay, okay. Everyone needs to calm the fuck down. Is it my karaoke song? Is it my karaoke song?

[30:54] Claudia: No, it's not your karaoke song. Wait, where is it? Here it is.

[31:00] Ian: Oh, my God. Oh, my God. Oh, you're gonna know what the heck this is. Are you ready?

[31:06] Claudia: Ready. Boom.

[31:08] Ian: Oh, we did it, boys. Okay.

I would become an agent in that moment.

[36:24] Claudia: Yeah, I would say I want you. I want you. Insane.

[36:30] Ian: It's interesting to watch this, knowing that like, this song infected my brain at whatever first age I discovered it. So like, 10 or 11 or something was the first time I saw season one. And I had no exposure to Funny Girl at all on outside of this television show until honestly, like a year ago, like once Leah was doing it on Broadway, I like maybe listened to some of the songs outside of what they did in Glee. And then obviously, since then, I've like seen the Barbara movie and listened to the original.

[37:07] Claudia: I remember that. It's just really funny how like, I know, I knew everywhere to the song and had no idea like what the context was, why she's doing her little transatlantic accent every once in a while. It's just like so formative. And a huge reason why I love the show so much. It's just like, it's it exposed me to so much music that I probably would have never heard of before, whether that be from like, decades before I was born. Like popular music that my parents listened to, and that I ended up bonding with them about say, knew a little something about it from watching this crazy show. Broadway, which still I'm famously a non theater kid Gleek. That's a really small group of us. I think a lot of people are like both, but I'm trying to learn more about you're the outcast.

[37:51] Ian: I'm the outcast outcast. And then I love the full circle moment of when all the rest of the kids come out like it was just making me think of it's all coming back to me now. When they all come out on the stage.

[38:03] Claudia: Wait, it's all coming back to me now. Are you saying outsold drop?

I don't know why I do that. But I got chills when the kids came out. And also Heather looks like a literal fetus when she came out. It was insane.

[38:28] Claudia: Yeah, my final point, controversial yet brave, actually, probably not that controversial. I think I usually don't know which drop is my favorite. But this one definitely is, even though I'm a Santana supremacist, generally, because just like the context of this is just unmatched. Like it's just so it's so happy and emotional. And the cuts to Mr. Schuster listening to her saying it's just it's just so beautiful. And so quintessential Gleek quintessential season one. It's just so good.

[39:01] Ian: No notes. It's great when they cut to Mr. Schuster on the phone. And I just recorded an episode of Recovering Gleek. It will be out by the time that people literally Yeah, yeah, because it comes out in two days, our times that will be Wednesday. This comes out because I talked about like me, I for the longest time, I didn't listen to Recovering Gleek because I didn't want your opinions to sway my opinions that I'm bringing on here. But from what I recall, there was like, what's the turtle face, Mr. Schuster?

[39:29] Claudia: Yeah, turtle face is I just have thought this since I was 14 that when Matthew Morrison cries, it's not a good or bad thing. When he cries, he looks like a turtle. Just something about it. I feel like I was like missing out on the joke.

[39:39] Ian: Okay, okay. I'll keep an eye out. Did he do the turtle face in that?

[39:42] Claudia: He does it right. It's a little turtle. It is specifically you can't always tell what you want when he like really cries. It's something about it. Both his eyebrows go up. And then his mouth gets really tight like a turtle's beak. And it is specifically like the moment I always think of is you can't always get what you want.

[40:01] Ian: Okay. Which was your first episode of Gleek the Week, Ian?

[40:08] Ian: Oh my gosh. Wow. March of 2022. Is that accurate? 2121. I think I also I think you can always get what you want in round two.

[40:19] Claudia: No, because in Lena, we're the last to see it because the tick tock.

[40:25] Ian: Wait, then what am I thinking about?

[40:27] Claudia: You're probably thinking of Sway.

[40:33] Ian: Whatever. Um, wait, Ian, do you want to do your your tick tock?

[40:39] Ian: I'll do my tick tock. Um, I agree with Claudia. I've oh, I still want to drop the drop. I want to be here on round three. And I want to get Drumpy Drump. And I do. Like, if if I were to be blessed with that opportunity, I would try and really be impartial on my viewings of both those numbers. But this in a Drumpy Drump right here right now, in the heart that I have today, this one wins because exactly like Claudia said, the context like it is so incredibly joyous and triumphant. And I have not been shy about the fact that I think Rachel Berry is the most interesting character on this show, especially towards the beginning of the show. I think season one Rachel is the most compelling character to me in all of Glee.

This girl who is like the most annoying person on earth who everyone hates. But the reason that she is so annoying is because she doesn't know how to make friends. She doesn't know how to connect with other people. And the only thing she has ever gotten praise for in her whole life is her talent. And so like, her talent is the most important thing to her because it's the only thing anyone has ever liked about her. And anytime someone challenges her talent, she's like, you're challenging my worth as a person. And so I have to push you aside. And to see this girl go from episode one, where she's crying on the bleachers, telling Mr. Shu how everyone hates her, to now having this moment where she's leading her team to victory.

She sings in front of this audience, gets a standing ovation. Everyone walks down the aisles. It's this big, beautiful, triumphant moment. It is such a wonderful storyline. It gets my blood pumping. It gets my heart racing to watch. It is the most Rachel Berry song possible. I just eat it up. It's gorgeous. It's incredible.

[42:40] Claudia: I agree with everything you say. Always.

[42:43] Ian: All the time.

[42:43] Claudia: Thank you.

[42:44] Ian: All the time.

[42:45] Claudia: Thank you so much.

[42:46] Ian: Especially now. Wait, would you say, is this peak Rachel for you? When you say season one, Rachel, are you including the back nine?

[42:52] Claudia: I like back half. I like back nine Rachel as well. But specifically, and a lot of ensemble shows do this, where when you first start, you can't be like, here's the pilot episode, care about all 12 of these characters, because the audience is just going to drown. And so you have to be like, care about these four characters, and then we'll start filling in the rest as we go. So the whole show is so far up Rachel's ass. But specifically, the first 13 episodes are very much like Rachel is the main character besides Will, and I feel like they are plotted very well. They have a very clear idea of who Rachel Berry is.

[43:32] Ian: Yeah.

[43:33] Claudia: And then once sectionals aired, I mean, sectionals was filmed, and then the show aired, and it became a phenomenon. I still love Rachel. But audience opinion and Leigh and Michelle's rising star and all of that started to affect how the character was portrayed. And I just want her to be a loser. I don't need her to be pretty. I don't need her to be cool. I need her to be a little weird loser. Exactly. Loser like me, please.

[43:59] Ian: Mm hmm. I really like that point. And I need to rewatch Glee again, even though I'm always doing that. Feels like it's been too long of like three weeks.

[44:14] Claudia: No, not really. But I feel like I finished my rewatch kind of recently. That's time to go again.

[44:21] Ian: I've got to.

[44:22] Claudia: This, this like this performance, this episode is just like, yeah, and everything Ian just said just completely encapsulates the magic of what it feels like watching that show. And yeah, like, all my friends doing well. She's like blowing the roof off the place vocally. But also the way she performs the show is frankly a little much. The way she performs the song, pardon me, is frankly a little much, but that's why I love it.

[44:48] Ian: It is perfect.

[44:49] Claudia: You see like this girl just wants to sing the song so badly that it's gushing out of her and she's like scrunching her face up and shooting her arms out. Oh, I love it.

[45:01] Ian: So cute.

[45:02] Claudia: Yeah, it's very, very sweet. I feel like all the, I'm just like going to a contrarian place right now. Not contrarian, but just like negative spot right now. And like Ian, you and I have talked about it where it's like the weird thing about like spending so many hours talking about one piece of media is like the easy angle is to go, hey, here's this like negative angle because like my mind is going to now the fact that Mercedes didn't have this moment for herself. Like she didn't, she couldn't have had this same moment of, and I'm telling you on a big stage, everybody applauding her. And it's like, I don't want to, I don't want to, for lack of a better term, rain on y'all's parade, you know, but like that's like where my mind is going to right now.

[45:48] Ian: We talked about this when we covered sectionals back in frickin 2020 on Recovering Gleek. I think what this episode should have done because the whole like we have to change the set list. Oh, no, is really exciting. And narratively, it does make sense that like Rachel is the lead of these first 13 episodes for her to like have her drop moment makes sense. If I could change this episode, what I would change it for is it's the same thing where Mercedes is like, I can't do my song. They already did it and I don't have another song prepared. I'm too stressed. Rachel, I'm sure you have something. But then you can't always get what you want is a Finn Mercedes feature. Oh, we're Finn comes in and he's like, I found the perfect song Mercedes since we couldn't do your number, you're going to take the female lead.

And that would service everything. It would give Mercedes your moment. Rachel wouldn't be stealing her moment. We'd also get the narrative satisfaction of Rachel's arc from like nobody loser to leading the team to victory.

[46:49] Claudia: Totally agree. And I can already hear the I can already hear the gleeks right now. They're gonna be like, Mercedes wasn't you can always get what you want. She does have the last note. I think they always do that shit. It does. Stop it. Don't piss me off. Don't stop typing.

[47:04] Ian: Don't give her a note. But like, no, you can't always get what you want. If I'm not mistaken. Finchel and Art Sadie's, I think, but just get rid of Yeah, just get rid of Yeah, just get rid of I don't need our chill. No, get Rachel out of there. She already had her song.

[47:21] Claudia: Are we getting rid of Artie too? Can Artie stick around? I don't care. He can. Okay. All right, Artie, you're coming back. Thanks for keeping the bench warm. It's your time. Sports metaphor. Sports metaphor. Whatever, whatever, over everybody's heads.

[47:42] Ian: Okay, my favorite moment, because you asked is, um, Abby on Twitter, she's always picking up these background moments. And this one, I am so pleased was brought to my attention. Because when that shot, I think it's like, mostly like, Brittany and Matt are like the two like mostly in focus. But I think right behind Matt is Santana. Santana has the biggest effing smile she has throughout the entire series. And she is so cute. And like, I remember Abby brought attention to it. And she was like, she was not lying when she said it was the best part of her day. And I was like, that is so sorry, I know y'all didn't want to cry. But here we are. It's just so cute. I really just I love that line so much of like, if you if you tell anybody, I'll deny it. Like it's the best part of my day.

[48:44] Ian: Okay, it's great. And then like Rachel's like, I believe you. It's so bisexual. Um, okay. And then bisexual. It's so bisexual. It's so inherently bisexual. Um, and then I have a legal note. If you care.

[49:05] Claudia: I always do. I want one, please. Um, while I was making Oh my god.

[49:16] Ian: Shirley, what'd you think?

[49:18] Claudia: Like, I have a legal note.

[49:31] Claudia: That's really great.

[49:32] Ian: Just do a big compilation. I screamed. That was my reaction to that. She was coming to the light.

[49:41] Claudia: Um, okay. Are we over? Are we over that? Can we get into my legal note for one? Can we make it about me again? Can we make it about me again?

[49:49] Ian: Just want to talk. Um, okay. I was making that clip over the holiday break of like all the songs left in round two of the Glackett. Um, it did take me an entire day of my life to make but it was mostly a project just to see if I could do it. Anyway, all that being said, um, I was clipping all the parts of the songs where they actually say the title of the song in the performance.

[50:12] Claudia: Fun fact about Drumpf. She doesn't actually say Drumpf in Drumpf.

[50:18] Ian: She says it in Ghana.

[50:20] Claudia: Don't bring around a cloud to bring to my parade.

[50:23] Ian: Wait, what'd you end up using?

[50:25] Claudia: That was it. That's that's what I used. Yeah. Yeah. Um, and that's, that's my legal note.

[50:31] Ian: Love it. And only you would know that.

[50:34] Claudia: Only me.

[50:35] Ian: Because of the work that you've done.

[50:37] Claudia: Thank you, Claudia.

[50:42] Ian: And then I'm also thinking about, uh, obviously everybody wants a Drumpfy Drumpf in a future round.

[50:49] Claudia: I'm more interested in a Rachel Drumpf versus my man.

[50:53] Ian: Oh, that actually would kill me.

[50:56] Claudia: I'd probably shit my pants.

[50:57] Ian: Yeah.

[50:58] Claudia: And that could happen right now.

[54:48] Ian: I can barely recall but it's all coming back to me now.

[55:19] Claudia: This is the worst thing that's ever happened.

[55:23] Ian: It's so sick.

[55:25] Claudia: At least you cut out ladies and gentlemen.

[55:28] Ian: Wait, did she say that in this one? No.

[55:30] Claudia: She says that in Drop.

[55:32] Ian: The New Directions.

[55:36] Claudia: She said, you're not going to catch me saying erection on TV.

[55:39] Ian: Uh-uh.

[55:40] Claudia: I made that mistake one too many times.

[55:44] Ian: I can't really do this actually.

[55:48] Claudia: Is that fine? Is that okay?

[55:50] Ian: Let's go to the next competition.

[55:53] Claudia: We'll come back to this.

[55:54] Ian: Let's actually circle back.

[55:56] Claudia: This is also literally the first one of the episode.

[55:58] Ian: Are you kidding me?

[56:00] Claudia: This is so fucked up.

[56:01] Ian: It can only get better.

[56:05] Claudia: I'm trying to be really positive about it.

[56:07] Ian: The rest of the episode's ruined.

[56:08] Claudia: I'm not going to lie. I already know my answer but everyone's going to kill me.

[56:12] Ian: I genuinely don't know mine.

[56:15] Claudia: I know mine too.

[56:17] Ian: Let's not discuss it.

[56:19] Claudia: Stop it.

[56:21] Ian: Let's just vote.

[56:23] Claudia: Just vote.

[56:25] Ian: Doesn't matter.

[56:27] Claudia: Either way, it's horrible.

[56:28] Ian: This is horrible.

[56:30] Claudia: Wait.

[56:32] Ian: Oh my god.

[56:34] Claudia: What's the bringing back episode stats right now?

[56:36] Ian: Or songs?

[56:38] Claudia: We just started over in the last one.

[56:41] Ian: Okay.

[56:43] Claudia: This is only episode 2 of 7.

[56:46] Ian: Okay, cool.

[56:47] Claudia: But I wanted to bring back OutKast.

[56:49] Ian: No.

[56:51] Claudia: Everyone vote OutKast.

[56:53] Ian: I'm sick.

[56:54] Claudia: I'm literally sick.

[56:55] Ian: This is horrible.

[56:56] Claudia: This is so horrible.

[56:57] Ian: This is really bad.

[56:58] Claudia: This is so horrible.

[56:59] Ian: Can we just keep saying it's horrible for the next?

[57:02] Claudia: I know.

[57:03] Ian: Just keep putting it off.

[57:04] Claudia: I know. I tried writing notes for this. And I was like, I can't talk about it objectively. I went over to my bed and hit my head on the pillow.

[57:12] Claudia: Yeah, that was audio medium.

[57:14] Ian: That was really, really.

[57:15] Claudia: I feel bad.

[57:17] Ian: I'm sorry.

[57:18] Claudia: You sat down and really just.

[57:20] Ian: I kept thinking about coming back, but I couldn't do it.

[57:26] Claudia: You're not coming back and not coming back to me now.

[57:29] Ian: Guys, this is my karaoke song.

[57:31] Claudia: I got it.

[57:32] Ian: This is my karaoke song.

[57:33] Claudia: This is not the time, Ian.

[57:35] Ian: Sorry.

[57:36] Claudia: I was trying to lighten the mood.

[57:38] Ian: A moment of brevity.

[57:39] Claudia: I can include the video of me singing this at Alligator Lounge in Williamsburg in the carousel.

[57:45] Ian: Oh, perfect.

[57:46] Claudia: So the carousel is almost half done now.

[57:48] Ian: Less work for me.

[57:52] Claudia: I can't do this.

[57:54] Ian: I can't do this.

[57:55] Claudia: I have things to say, and I genuinely don't know which way I'm voting.

[58:01] Ian: I have an inkling of which way I'm leaning, but I'm not fully there.

[58:05] Claudia: Undecided voter vibe.

[58:07] Ian: A what voter vibe?

[58:09] Claudia: Oh, undecided. Sorry. Sometimes my ears work faster than my brain.

[58:13] Ian: This is the worst competition that's ever happened in the history of this podcast.

[58:17] Claudia: Agreed.

[58:19] Ian: Because these songs are both. One is the beginning of Rachel's journey. One is the end of Rachel's journey. They're doing very similar things, where one, it's the first moment where she has felt accepted. It's the first moment where she has felt loved. It's the first moment where she has really felt a part of something and triumphant. And then the other one is her taking a final bow, saying goodbye to this experience that taught her to connect to other people and to care about other people and that she has more value than just her talent.

[1:01:28] Claudia: I'm just going to say something. But go ahead. I'm the only note – I will go first because the only note that I wrote down was the hands. Yeah. That's the only thing I could really think about while I was watching that. That's all I can say! That's all I can say! I'm so sorry. I don't know what else to say at this point. Maybe if it was pulled first, I would have more nuanced thoughts on "It's All Coming Back to Me Now." But just, you know, me, not an actor, I really like what she's doing with her hands. And it's just like, I don't know, the way she holds it. And I know that a lot of Rolos are home to the hand play. But yeah.

[1:02:09] Ian: Whoa. Wait, what is everyone reacting to? No, I'm kidding. Hand play. I know what I'm doing. I know what I'm doing. Claudia?

[1:02:22] Claudia: Yeah. Take it from hand play. Yeah, what's up? Oh, this? Talk about Rich's hand play. Her hand play is really captivating.

[1:02:31] Ian: Yeah, skillful handiwork. I'm sick to my stomach. This is just like, yeah, this is so hard because the amazing things about each of the performances is also true of the other one. Like, beautiful vocal performance by Leah Michele. Beautiful moment of, like, character development for our, you know, most consistent lead in the show. Beautiful moment of, like, introducing a big victory for our boys and girls. I don't even know. Like, it's really hard for me because these are two of my favorite episodes. But Nationals is really a comfort, maybe the comfort episode. It's really amazing.

[1:03:16] Claudia: Legal note. That's not a legal note. It's just a personal anecdote.

[1:03:20] Ian: Legal opinion.

[1:03:21] Claudia: Legal opinion. This is just my professional legal opinion. Last year, like, in the winter time, I had moved to New York this year, but just graduated college, was going through a lot of, like, transition with a new job and all of these things. And I was really, really anxious and was feeling, like, more anxious than I had in a long, long time. And I listened to a podcast about, like, mental health. And it was, like, something that helps your body process anxiety is to, like, go through a story arc in, like, a book, a show, a movie, where people, like, have a challenge and overcome it. And it, like, tricks your brain and your body into going through these stages of, like, working through the stress response cycle.

I don't know. And I was like, what can I do for that? And I put on the Nationals episode. And I cried and it felt, everything felt so much better. And it, like, literally was medicinal. So this episode, this competition, this performance carries a lot of weight to me for not really, that's, like, I don't really have a specific reason, maybe because the goodbye of it all is a little heavier than, like, this first real victory for them as a team. But it's still so, they're both still so, like, emotional and important and meaningful to me. It's, this is, it's so hard. Oh, my God. I'm so wrong.

[1:04:45] Ian: The more we talk, because, like, I, even before we even watched the second performance, maybe this is revealing what my vote is. I already knew what I, I already know what my vote was. And, but, like, the more we talk about it, I'm like, oh, actually, there's so, there's so much there with "It's All Coming Back to Me Now."

[1:05:04] Claudia: Yeah, it's okay. We know.

[1:05:05] Ian: Um, I was like, wait, as I was saying, I was like, wait, this is, oh, revealed. Um, but what did I want to say? Oh, gosh. I already know Eduardo's gonna kick my ass. I literally, the second that I realized that I revealed what my vote was, all of my thoughts went, but it will all come back to me now, I'm sure. Later.

[1:05:28] Claudia: Now.

[1:05:30] Ian: It'll all come back to me later. Yeah.

[1:05:33] Claudia: It'll all come back to me later. I'm really upset. I am not kidding, my heart is pounding. I have my hands on my neck, and whatever the heck vein is in your neck is pulsing.

[1:05:46] Ian: Has this conversation helped, Ian?

[1:05:49] Ian: Uh, no. It actually, it made me less decided. I just, like, I don't even know. These are two songs that both are, frankly, and I don't think this is controversial, like, top 20 songs in Glee.

[1:06:09] Claudia: Yeah. Yes.

[1:06:10] Ian: I would say they're higher, but I think, like, everyone can agree they're, like, top 20. And it's crazy that this happened.

[1:06:19] Claudia: No, it's gross. It's crazy.

[1:06:21] Ian: It's, like, what you were saying in the last episode when you pulled out Gaspers' Bitch, you're, like, this just makes me upset, because I know what else is there is, and I know what this means. I know what this means. Where was Outcast? I want Outcast back. I literally, and I said it earlier, I just wanted a normal recording.

[1:06:39] Claudia: Yeah, this is only the first one.

[1:06:42] Ian: And I know that I don't feel nearly as emotional responsive as either of you, but I promise that I am. I'm just, like, desperately trying to, like, cling on to normalcy right now. Sorry, I don't feel normal. Sorry, I don't feel normal right now. I just don't feel normal.

[1:07:00] Claudia: I, yeah. Something really bad might happen.

[1:07:04] Ian: Something really bad might happen, guys. We're recording this on January 6th, by the way.

[1:07:08] Claudia: I know, I did clock that.

[1:07:11] Ian: It's my parents' wedding anniversary. They got married at the Capitol in 2020.

[1:07:17] Claudia: That's good for them.

[1:07:18] Ian: They didn't do that.

[1:07:22] Claudia: We are, we are, we are.

[1:07:24] Ian: And literally, I had something to say earlier.

[1:07:28] Claudia: We don't care.

[1:07:29] Ian: I know.

[1:07:29] Claudia: We're going through something right now.

[1:07:32] Ian: Just kidding, I care. I don't have it.

[1:07:35] Claudia: I don't have it.

[1:07:37] Ian: Okay, I think I know which way I'm voting.

[1:07:40] Claudia: I do, too. But you can say what you want to say. If you ever think of it.

[1:07:43] Ian: I want to see you be brave.

[1:07:47] Claudia: That's good.

[1:07:48] Ian: I don't, what is it? I literally had something. Like, Claudia, you were talking about something. And I was like, oh, here's what I'm going to say. Literally, I'm done.

[1:07:59] Claudia: Okay, Ian, do you want to vote?

[1:08:00] Ian: Yeah, so did you vote for Drumpf? Is that what happened? Or did you vote for "All Coming Back"?

[1:08:05] Claudia: He's voting for Drumpf.

[1:08:06] Ian: Oh, should I? That's what I got, was that you were voting for Drumpf.

[1:08:10] Claudia: Because you were like, but then I realized there's so much about "All Coming Back."

[1:08:13] Ian: Yeah.

[1:08:14] Ian: Yeah, I'm, okay. So I'll lock in my vote for Drumpf. Do, I love a Drumpf. I just, it's, it's classic. And I think that it does. People are gonna, you know, say, oh, it's season one bias at work. And like, yeah, it is working. And what of it? It is working. And what of it? Okay.

[1:08:35] Claudia: And I think, I think maybe part of the, part of what I wanted to say, in response to what you were beautifully saying earlier, Claudia, about another podcast. I thought the reveal was going to be that you were listening to, you were like, oh, I was listening to this podcast called Gleek of the Week.

[1:08:52] Ian: No, sorry. This is a, this is a podcast about anxiety that my mom sent to me when I was a kid.

[1:09:00] Claudia: Called Gleek of the Week.

[1:09:02] Ian: Called Gleek of the Week. And that's what you really miss.

[1:09:05] Claudia: I'm sure this will help.

[1:09:08] Ian: Hey, honey, this might give you some perspective.

[1:09:13] Claudia: Hey, honey, it was a TV show. Here are the actors talking about being on set.

[1:09:18] Ian: You might have missed some things.

[1:09:20] Claudia: You might have missed some things. Hey, sweetie, none of that was real. Does that make you feel better?

[1:09:31] Ian: But I think, okay. I think, okay, you're talking about like these two moments, specifically for our Rollo-ist here, Rachel.

[1:09:41] Claudia: Raquel.

[1:09:41] Ian: Um, Raquel. Wait, doesn't, doesn't Jeff Goldblum call her Raquel in one episode?

[1:09:49] Claudia: I wouldn't be surprised.

[1:09:53] Ian: It's really great. But it's just like, there's so much. The first competition, with it being the sectionals episode, I remember like seeing, because I watched season one all on DVD, and I remember seeing that an episode, like episode upcoming was called sectionals. And I was only planning on watching mattress that night. And I was like, okay, all right, mattress. But then I was like, wait a minute. The next episode is called sectionals. There was something so exciting to me that like, if I were to bottle up that emotion of being like, oh my God, I can't wait to get to that episode. And there was like, there was a huge payoff with that episode. I think it is the, I remember Ian, you were talking about the sectionals episodes on Gleewind. You were like, and this one was, sectionals was the best one.

[1:10:38] Claudia: Yes?

[1:10:38] Ian: No, I weirdly said that special education was the best one.

[1:10:42] Claudia: Oh, really?

[1:10:43] Ian: Yes.

[1:10:43] Claudia: Did Lena say that?

[1:10:46] Ian: Oh, maybe I was just putting myself into the conversation. I was like, yeah, definitely. But like, it just, I just think it's so beautiful that like, I feel like the first, the first win at least means something more to me than like, you know, this later down the line, getting the grand prize. Because I know that Ian, you've talked about like, how like the season two finale, like, the, the Mr. Schuster moment where he's like, well, we didn't place. And it's like, can you guys fucking chill for one second? And like, you placed 12th out of the entire damn country. Chill! When like, last year, like, you were like, happy to like, win your sectionals. Because they kept changing the rules on them. The Glee Club was gonna be over, but then they did everything they'd ever dreamed of. So my vote is...

[1:11:49] Ian: And then pretend I kissed Tongue Tied in the hallway. And they, they tied their tongues together in Tongue Tied. What, Clayton?

[1:11:58] Claudia: I'm just kidding. Okay. Um, no, but yeah, I think that I'm voting. I feel like I'm like looking at both of these performances. Maybe you are as well. I'm just like looking at the moments. I'm not looking at the actual song. The, the season one moment just emotionally resonates a little bit more with me. Like the Mr. Shoe Call, Emma. JMA is constantly supplying the best reactions to New Directions performances. Like when I'm thinking about like, her and like, Somebody to Love, where she's like, hand to the chest. Ooh. And it's, they do a weird cut to Lindsay Lohan in like, Prez Hilton.

[1:12:44] Ian: Yeah, that was...

[1:12:45] Claudia: Right? Isn't that, it's like a very bizarre cut where they're just stone-faced. They're not impressed.

[1:12:51] Ian: They're not impressed.

[1:12:52] Claudia: So I love "It's All Coming Back to Me Now." It's very, very good. I have a legal note about it, actually. It's so good that I have a legal note about it. That Lea Michele, maybe a lot of Gleeks know this, including yourselves, that she campaigned for "To Love You More" as her big nationals rollo. And then Ryan Murphy misinterpreted the Celine song. It was like, hey, here's "It's All Coming Back to Me Now." And she was like, she like, bit her tongue. It was like, okay, I'll do it. That's fine. And then she got, and then she got "To Love You More," the next season finale. That's a really good legal note, because "To Love You More" is one of my favorite Celine songs. And I don't really like the Glee version, because it's, it has no context. It's so, I don't know. I think it's a beautiful.

[1:14:43] Andrew: So for all the reasons I said, also in my top 20 songs of Glee, "It's All Coming Back to Me Now," I think it is like four. And "Dromp" is just like an objectively important and excellent number and an objectively important and excellent moment in the show.

[1:15:00] Claudia: And my personal emotional points, "It's All Coming Back to Me Now" has like that plus like a little bit. And I think I'm going to get cancelled for this, but I'm going with my heart.

[1:15:12] Ian: No, I think that a lot of Gleeks feel represented in this moment.

[1:15:15] Claudia: I actually think that all three of us are getting cancelled for this. Like, I think this is a competition where people are going to be pissed no matter what happens.

[1:15:24] Andrew: Yeah, there's nothing...

[1:15:26] Ian: Well, I think mostly with you, Ian, now.

[1:15:29] Ian: No, I mean, it wouldn't be an Ian episode of Gleek of the Week without people getting mad at me.

[1:15:38] Andrew: Oh my gosh. Okay, I do know which way I'm voting now. And it's different than it was when the song started.

[1:15:46] Claudia: You're going to say different from both of you. And I was like, different from both of you.

[1:15:49] Ian: I'm running through to love you more. We're going around three, baby.

[1:15:56] Claudia: Um, I love both these songs so much. I'm so sorry to have to do this. I was leaning the other direction. But upon discussion, I've changed my mind.

[1:16:10] Ian: That means someone did a bad job.

[1:16:13] Andrew: Glee... probably me. I was terrible. I couldn't remember what I wanted to say.

[1:16:18] Claudia: Oh my gosh. Glee, at the end of the day, to me, is a show about a bunch of losers who find joy in community, not necessarily through winning, and joy in sharing an experience together.

[1:16:37] Ian: And so I'm going with "Dromp." Because, like, those are my losers up there. Those are my losers at their sectionals, trying their best.

[1:16:45] Claudia: And I was leaning towards that song "Coming Back to Me Now," just because Rachel is like, she's owning that song, and she sounds incredible, and it's such a victorious moment.

[1:16:53] Ian: But "Dromp," like, is the Rachel song that people think of for a reason. It is synonymous with Lea Michele for a reason.

[1:17:04] Ian: It is by a thin, thin margin, but I'm going with "Dromp."

[1:17:09] Claudia: I'm grateful for this, honestly, so that I can just be... maybe someone will be mad at me for trying to...

[1:17:18] Ian: No, now anyone that's mad is gonna be mad at Andrew and me, and anyone that's mad at you is just not gonna bring it up because it didn't go through.

[1:17:26] Andrew: I feel good about this.

[1:17:29] Claudia: I also love my girl "Dromp," as we know.

[1:17:31] Ian: God, that is really bad. Something really bad might happen again.

[1:17:36] Claudia: That's really bad.

[1:17:37] Ian: Yeah, that was terrible. And the fact that we have two more of these.

[1:17:41] Claudia: That's so bad.

[1:17:43] Andrew: I was thinking, not to be sappy, but I'm very, very grateful to both of you, and the people that continue to come back regularly, because to devote as much time as you are...

[1:18:00] Andrew: I don't know how long this recording is. We've only done one competition, and we're at an hour and 20.

[1:18:05] Andrew: But then also, on top of that, because we're not talking about things that are just like, oh, casual, how's your day, let's shoot the shit, whatever. We're doing things that I can see on your face actually does have a negative effect on you.

[1:18:21] Andrew: I do want to just take the moment to say thank you for doing that, because it's very kind that you are here, exerting yourself.

[1:18:38] Claudia: Thank you. I'm sorry that that was difficult.

[1:18:40] Ian: Love you, Matt.

[1:18:41] Claudia: No, thanks for having us. Honestly, it was the worst thing I've ever done.

[1:18:45] Ian: Yeah, it was the worst thing ever.

[1:18:46] Claudia: I'm also glad to be doing it with two people who really care about this show, and took the discussion very seriously.

[1:18:53] Ian: And was it just like, well, I like this song better as a song, so I'm going with that one.

[1:18:58] Claudia: That was low-key kind of me, though.

[1:18:59] Ian: But really considering all sides.

[1:19:00] Claudia: That is. Yeah, I hope I didn't weird people out with talking about my anxiety podcast. Guys, I'm very normal.

[1:19:09] Ian: You think the Gleeks out there don't have anxiety? This wasn't a TV show about sports.

[1:19:16] Andrew: Well, show choir is a sport.

[1:19:19] Ian: My brother's gonna be like, I can't believe you talked about anxiety on the Glee podcast.

[1:19:24] Andrew: I can't believe that he made it an hour into the conversation.

[1:19:27] Ian: Seriously, goodness sakes.

[1:19:28] Andrew: He shan't.

[1:19:33] Claudia: Can this one be fun? Do you think?

[1:19:35] Ian: I think so.

[1:19:36] Claudia: Okay, cool.

[1:19:38] Claudia: Can we get, maybe this time, and then a real turkey of a second song?

[1:19:45] Ian: Okay.

[1:19:46] Claudia: Okay.

[1:19:47] Ian: Okay.

[1:19:48] Claudia: Okay, and it's "My Man."

[1:19:50] Ian: It's from the episode after "My Man."

[1:19:52] Claudia: Oh!

[1:19:54] Ian: "My Man" is funeral, right?

[1:19:56] Claudia: Yeah, "My Man" is at his funeral.

[1:19:59] Ian: I always say funeral, and I don't really remember anything about "My Man."

[1:20:03] Claudia: So is it "Prom Queen" next? No, no, no, no, no. It's "New York" next, right?

[1:20:07] Ian: It's "New York."

[1:20:08] Claudia: Yeah, it's "New York" next, because "Prom Queen" is before funeral.

[1:20:10] Ian: Yeah, yeah, yeah, it's "New York."

[1:20:11] Claudia: Yeah, this guy knows his Glee.

[1:20:13] Ian: I have a podcast about it.

[1:20:20] Ian: Yay!

[1:20:22] Claudia: Hell yeah.

[1:24:42] Claudia: I don't know what this is from.

[1:24:44] Ian: She's like, this is Annie, right?

[1:24:46] Claudia: This is Donnie Warbuck's Annie.

[1:24:49] Ian: This is The Greatest Showman, my favorite original musical.

[1:24:52] Claudia: And also Kirtchell's favorite musical.

[1:24:55] Ian: Yeah, this is the original "For Good" for me.

[1:25:00] Claudia: So, I don't know, I don't have all those other thoughts. But yeah, I love it big time.

[1:25:07] Ian: And now I'm learning so much about Wicked because they're making me...

[1:25:10] Claudia: They're all making me learn.

[1:25:12] Ian: What are the class' thoughts on the second one being called Wicked "For Good"?

[1:25:18] Claudia: Apparently we knew that for a while.

[1:25:22] Ian: Like, Cynthia Erivo tweeted a picture of her hand with her nails over the script.

[1:25:30] Claudia: And I checked the date, she posted that picture months ago.

[1:25:34] Ian: Yeah, I feel like I knew that for a while.

[1:25:36] Claudia: But I just don't really...

[1:25:38] Ian: But everybody pretends like it's been new information.

[1:25:42] Claudia: But, I don't know.

[1:25:43] Ian: Old information or new information, I'm not crazy about it.

[1:25:49] Claudia: Or that Wicked part.

[1:25:51] Ian: I see, I'm crazy about that.

[1:25:53] Claudia: I feel really good about that.

[1:25:55] Ian: Well, it's still... I think, isn't it called Wicked Part 2 "For Good"?

[1:25:59] Claudia: That's worse.

[1:26:00] Ian: No, that is worse.

[1:26:03] Claudia: It should be Wicked.

[1:26:05] Ian: It's Wicked Part 2 "For Good."

[1:26:07] Claudia: Based on the novel Pushed by Sapphire.

[1:26:11] Ian: No, there should be a Wicked Part 2, Wicked Part 3.

[1:26:13] Claudia: Wicked Part 4 "Good."

[1:26:15] Ian: Yes!

[1:26:16] Claudia: Yeah, that's what I'm saying.

[1:26:17] Ian: Don't include anything with 4 in it unless it's the fourth movie.

[1:26:21] Claudia: And Wicked Part 4 "Good" is literally just the song "For Good" through the finale.

[1:26:27] Ian: It's a 15-minute movie.

[1:26:29] Claudia: And I'm sure those gay people would still see it.

[1:26:32] Ian: I'm gay people.

[1:26:34] Claudia: I'd see it.

[1:26:36] Ian: I'd see it, I'll say it.

[1:26:38] Claudia: I'm not gay, but $20 is $20.

[1:26:44] Ian: What do we have to say about...

[1:26:46] Claudia: About damn Wicked "For Good"?

[1:26:48] Ian: Not, I mean this...

[1:26:50] Claudia: The Glee version.

[1:26:52] Ian: Oh wait, but that's also Gladiator Wicked.

[1:26:56] Claudia: Have we put these things together?

[1:26:59] Ian: Anyway, this is undeveloped land.

[1:27:01] Claudia: This is all you.

[1:27:03] Ian: I just wanted to say that I just had a really amazing realization, which is when I saw Wicked on Broadway this summer for the first time ever.

[1:27:11] Claudia: And when I saw this movie, if you've ever heard of it, Broadway that is.

[1:27:15] Ian: I recognized the unlimited thing, and I could not figure out what I knew it from, especially when I saw the movie, because I was like, I didn't see any of these songs on Glee because Glee didn't do that in Defying Gravity.

[1:27:29] Claudia: So just now I was like, oh, that's why I know what it is.

[1:27:33] Ian: So that's really good and educational for me.

[1:27:35] Claudia: You're starting to become galaxy brain like me.

[1:27:37] Ian: Yes, exactly.

[1:27:39] Claudia: Also, Kurt and Rachel are so Glinda and Elphaba in the sense that people are going to hate me for this. I really don't get... I like Wicked, it's good, but I don't really get why Glinda and Elphaba are friends because they're not really that nice to each other. And Kurt and Rachel are kind of like that too, so that's kind of beautiful.

[1:27:55] Ian: These two pairs of people don't really like each other, so it kind of does work.

[1:28:01] Claudia: Exactly. They're not very nice.

[1:28:05] Ian: Andrew, I can tell that you hate this conversation.

[1:28:07] Andrew: I don't hate the conversation. I just think she's wrong.

[1:28:11] Ian: Tell her that she's wrong.

[1:28:13] Andrew: I do think that this is a little early in Kurt and Rachel's relationship for them to be singing "For Good." Y'all became friends 18 episodes ago.

[1:28:58] Andrew: Oh, wait, sorry to interrupt again. Um, you're saying, season, you're, that's an interesting homework assignment, is where, where would, um, For Good fit better in the Gleek canon? Weirdly, you didn't mention series finale, where like I'm considering now...

[1:29:16] Claudia: No, I said second half of the show!

[1:29:19] Ian: You said, you said like, season three or season four, you didn't name season six by name, where I feel like that fits, sorry. I just, I want it, I want it there now.

[1:29:29] Claudia: What about when...

[1:29:30] Ian: It would be very appropriate there.

[1:29:32] Claudia: What about when Kurt follows Rachel to New York? No.

[1:29:35] Ian: See, I think part, I think like, why For Good works so well in Wicked, is these two are never going to see each other again. It is a relationship in your life that was so powerful and changed you so much, and for whatever reason, can no longer continue. Rachel and Kurt, it's like, they're literally gonna walk out of the theater together, fly home together, and then attend class tomorrow.

[1:30:03] Claudia: On a broomstick.

[1:30:04] Ian: On a broomstick. That was weird, yeah.

[1:30:07] Andrew: Oh, I get it now.

[1:30:08] Ian: Oh, because it's Wicked.

[1:30:12] Claudia: I've seen Wicked now. It's because of Wicked.

[1:30:14] Ian: Because in Annie, she swept the floor with a broom.

[1:30:16] Claudia: Yeah.

[1:30:16] Ian: Got it. But, as I mentioned, do I think that Kurt and Rachel would sing this song? Yes. However, it doesn't have a very big emotional impact on me as an audience member, because I'm like, I know y'all are gonna see each other tomorrow. So whatever.

[1:30:30] Claudia: Yeah.

[1:30:31] Ian: What on earth? Oh, but the Glinda and Elphaba parallel, I think works. In the same way that they met each other and they went, I hate your guts, you literally suck. And then, as they got to know each other, they realized, oh my gosh, we actually have so much in common, and I misjudged you. And then they rubbed off on each other in a positive way.

[1:30:54] Claudia: Hand play.

[1:30:55] Ian: They rubbed up on each other in a positive way.

[1:30:58] Claudia: In a positive way.

[1:30:59] Ian: And I think that that's very true of Kirtchill and of Elphinda.

[1:31:06] Claudia: Yeah.

[1:31:06] Ian: Elphaba.

[1:31:07] Claudia: Elphaba is what people usually say.

[1:31:09] Ian: Gelfie? Is that what people are saying?

[1:31:11] Claudia: Gelfie.

[1:31:12] Ian: Gelfie. I said Gelfaba.

[1:31:12] Claudia: Gelfie is what the kids are saying.

[1:31:14] Ian: Glelda.

[1:31:16] Claudia: Gelfaba is Glee Elphaba.

[1:31:17] Ian: Renesme.

[1:31:18] Claudia: Renesme.

[1:31:19] Ian: It's Renesme.

[1:31:20] Claudia: Which is also true of Renesme. Um, wait, do we, and I think, I'm almost scared to ask this question, but like, okay, is Kirt, Kirt is singing the, Kirt is singing the Glinda part.

[1:31:34] Ian: Yes.

[1:31:35] Claudia: But the more I think about it, is that, is that right for the character?

[1:31:41] Ian: Um.

[1:31:42] Claudia: Rachel doing Elphaba. Kirt doing Glinda.

[1:31:46] Ian: I think it is right for the character in the sense that, um, Rachel is the type to be like, you don't like me? Well, I don't like you either. I'm gonna push you down a flight of stairs. Which feels very Elphaba-coded.

[1:32:03] Claudia: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.

[1:32:04] Ian: And Kirt is the kind to be like, I'm gonna pretend to be nice to you, and then be really bitchy behind your back. Which is Glinda-coded. He's also more well-liked.

[1:32:13] Claudia: Yes, he is more well-liked than Rachel is.

[1:32:16] Ian: But my thought is that, but my contrast there is that, like, Rachel's the one with this, like, ambition.

[1:32:22] Claudia: Yeah, however.

[1:32:23] Ian: That Glinda has. And Kirt has the moral compass that Elphaba has.

[1:32:27] Claudia: Yeah.

[1:32:28] Ian: I'm thinking more.

[1:32:31] Claudia: It should be the wizard and more horrible.

[1:32:35] Ian: Claudia, I wanted to say something. Sorry, I had to say something first.

[1:32:39] Claudia: I just had to say something first.

[1:32:41] Ian: The wizard, the wizard, I'm so sorry. The wizard is Carmen Thippodeaux.

[1:32:47] Claudia: And Madame Horrible is also Carmen Thippodeaux.

[1:32:50] Ian: No, it's Cassandra July.

[1:32:57] Claudia: Okay, sorry, Andrew. That's so, huh.

[1:33:00] Ian: Okay, wait, no, because I want to say what I wanted to say earlier. That I feel my instinct, instinction to put Kirt as Elphaba is.

[1:33:12] Claudia: I don't think that's a word.

[1:33:13] Ian: Instinction.

[1:33:15] Claudia: My instinction.

[1:33:21] Ian: My extinction. I'm trying to think, I'm unknowingly trying to, like, do, like, the wicked thing where it's, like, say words that don't.

[1:33:29] Claudia: Braverism.

[1:33:30] Ian: Yeah, that's good. Pronunciation, I got you. Did that save work?

[1:33:34] Claudia: It didn't. That was not the intention, but.

[1:33:37] Ian: Okay, so my instinction. Um, to make Kirt Elphaba is more societal, societal.

[1:33:45] Claudia: Is that, is that?

[1:33:46] Ian: That is a word.

[1:33:46] Claudia: Totally.

[1:33:46] Ian: Thank you. Um.

[1:33:48] Claudia: Societish.

[1:33:49] Ian: Societish. Um, that, that I'm like, okay, Kirt, Kirt gay, Elphaba green. That's what I was thinking, right?

[1:34:00] Claudia: No, but Glinda's gay.

[1:34:02] Ian: I'm not kidding.

[1:34:04] Claudia: Glinda's gay.

[1:34:05] Ian: I'm not kidding. But, like, Glinda, Glinda's straight passing.

[1:34:09] Claudia: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.

[1:34:10] Ian: Just like Kirt.

[1:34:10] Claudia: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.

[1:34:11] Ian: Just like Kirt. I saw him sing Pink Houses. He's straight passing.

[1:34:15] Claudia: It worked.

[1:34:16] Ian: I saw him in overalls or something. Mask or mask.

[1:34:20] Claudia: Yeah, mask or mask. Kurt Hummel. Um, so that's what I gotta say about that.

[1:34:26] Claudia: Um, anything else about that?

[1:34:29] Ian: I have a few notes.

[1:34:30] Claudia: Okay.

[1:34:31] Ian: Um, one, Chris Colfer is acting, acting, acting.

[1:34:36] Claudia: Yeah.

[1:34:36] Ian: The moment at the beginning when Rachel takes him and she goes, now it's up to you, now it's up to you. And she's, like, pulling him on stage. And he is giving this beautiful performance of, he, like, is excited to be there but is also really scared to be there and is unsure if he should be doing this. There's just a lot of emotion going on in his face in that moment, which is very compelling to watch.

[1:34:56] Claudia: My second thought, which I think every time I watch this is, why on earth is the Munchkin Land set up on that stage?

[1:35:03] Ian: Oh, that's crazy.

[1:35:06] Claudia: Yeah. That's a set that is used halfway through Act Two. Why is it in the middle of the day on, like, a random Thursday, the Munchkin Land set is just in the abandoned Gershwin Theater?

[1:35:16] Ian: Can I have, like, a boring, like a, oh, this is a boring response to that question.

[1:35:23] Claudia: What?

[1:35:24] Ian: My guess is that they put that for Normies.

[1:35:28] Claudia: Oh, yeah.

[1:35:29] Ian: Right? Okay. It's definitely the most fun set in the show, too.

[1:35:34] Claudia: No, but it's like, I'm thinking, like, accessible that it's like, okay, that it's like, we see a house in a field. This was of us.

[1:35:41] Ian: Yeah, okay, we get it.

[1:35:43] Claudia: Yeah. My headcanon is they were having a put-in rehearsal.

[1:35:46] Ian: Yeah.

[1:35:47] Claudia: Someone, one of the understudies is on that night and they're having a put-in in costumes and sets. And they only got as far as the catfight in Act Two. And then they were like, okay, we'll finish the rest of this. Like, everyone on break and everyone's, like, out to lunch. And then they're gonna come back and finish.

[1:36:01] Ian: Security guard, if, you know, if we can let-

[1:36:03] Claudia: If two teenagers come in, let them sing and then kick them out.

[1:36:05] Ian: You can only let one pair in today.

[1:36:08] Claudia: That's it.

[1:36:09] Ian: Yeah.

[1:36:09] Claudia: If they look like huge losers, just let them do the song.

[1:36:13] Ian: They're going through enough.

[1:36:13] Claudia: If they're pathetic enough.

[1:36:15] Ian: They need it. I do that while I was watching this. As, like, Rachel, she is really fucking bold to, like, explore the set. I climb up. That's scary. She goes backstage. She starts, like, trying on the costumes as she's singing. I just love the idea of, like, her in the middle. She's operating the giant wizard head.

[1:36:38] Claudia: I love the idea.

[1:36:40] Ian: As she's, like, walking up the stairs, the same security guard's like, ah, ah. I didn't say that. I didn't say you could do that. Out. You're out. You're done. You're cut off. She's awesome.

[1:36:56] Claudia: But, yeah.

[1:36:57] Ian: Oh, and I thought that, like, I think it was a really beautiful payoff with Defying Gravity season one of it all. That it's, like, I think it's, like, a-

[1:37:04] Claudia: And then.

[1:37:05] Ian: Yeah. Here we are. We get a prequel payoff with Popular in 2009.

[1:37:10] Claudia: You like that?

[1:37:12] Ian: You don't like Popular?

[1:37:15] Claudia: Gleecast version?

[1:37:16] Ian: Yes. It's fun.

[1:37:18] Claudia: I think it comes at.

[1:37:20] Ian: I just wanted to use somewhere else.

[1:37:22] Claudia: I feel like such a hater today. I'm sorry.

[1:37:23] Ian: Oh, you mentioned this. You wanted it to be, like, Kitty saying it to Marley as she, like, gave her a makeover. Is that okay?

[1:37:28] Claudia: Hey, hear me out. Guys, is that okay?

[1:37:31] Ian: No, it's not.

[1:37:33] Claudia: I need you to apologize.

[1:37:34] Ian: No, that's a great pitch. That's a great pitch.

[1:37:36] Claudia: Yeah.

[1:37:37] Ian: But also, I love it.

[1:37:40] Claudia: I like Rachel's eyebrows.

[1:37:42] Ian: And hey.

[1:37:43] Claudia: Say something nice about Popular.

[1:37:45] Ian: I like her eyebrows.

[1:37:49] Claudia: And what else did I want to say? Darren Criss is looking at me.

[1:37:54] Ian: And look at how happy he is. He's like, oh, what about my eyebrows, Claudia? What do you think? They're little triangles. Ever notice that? His eyebrows are little triangles.

[1:38:05] Claudia: And they're so, they're so cute.

[1:38:09] Ian: Not as cute as Rachel's, though. Sorry, Blaine. What did I want to, oh, and then one last thing. Legal note, behind the scenes of this video, I forget, of this video, this episode. Who directed this? Do you know offhand?

[1:38:24] Claudia: I did. I'm going to say it's, like, Brad Feltrick.

[1:38:29] Ian: I was going to say Brad.

[1:38:31] Claudia: Yeah, let's find out. Because I feel like the behind the scenes for this episode, like, they were talking about, like, that scene where they're, like, looking up the marquee, and, like, Brad was, like, was it Brad?

[1:38:45] Ian: We're so smart. We're so smart.

[1:38:46] Claudia: Nice, guys.

[1:38:47] Ian: Yeah. I know Brad Ulrich's stink whenever I smell it.

[1:38:51] Claudia: Brad Ulrich?

[1:38:53] Ian: Brad Ulrich, I stand by it. They're secretly married. Sorry, Gwyneth.

[1:38:59] Claudia: Sorry, Miss Goop.

[1:39:00] Ian: That was weird. During the, the, the robber episode, in the background, Gwyneth and Brad were both walking around in the background.

[1:39:07] Claudia: Yeah, holding hands.

[1:39:08] Ian: That was, that was bizarre. But then they were also, like, they were trying to hold hands with Robert as he was glacketing.

[1:39:14] Claudia: Yeah, it's their polycule.

[1:39:16] Ian: It's the polycule.

[1:39:17] Claudia: Very weird.

[1:39:18] Ian: It's the Goop-rich polycule.

[1:39:20] Claudia: Goop-rich.

[1:39:21] Ian: That's good.

[1:39:22] Claudia: That's the title, Goop-rich polycule.

[1:39:24] Ian: No, I can't, I can't, no, because, like, that means nothing.

[1:39:27] Claudia: It means everything!

[1:39:31] Ian: Think of the connotation.

[1:39:32] Claudia: Is that that word? Is that what that word means?

[1:39:34] Ian: Of Goop-rich.

[1:39:36] Claudia: Yes.

[1:39:37] Ian: One of Hollywood's top casting directors, and one of, and one of Hollywood's top seller of self-care products, and one of Hollywood's top showrunners of Glee, are all in a polycule.

[1:39:53] Claudia: One of them.

[1:39:56] Ian: Yeah, he's in the top three for sure. What I wanted to say, Brad Falchuk, in the behind the scenes for this episode, he was talking about when Kirtchell sees the marquee, and I just thought it was a really beautiful direction from his point, where he was like, they're looking at this marquee because they've never seen, like, a sign. Like, everything is exciting to them in this episode. I am not under the belief that, like, Rachel's dads have never brought her to New York up until this point, even though, like, we, it is, like, canon that that is her first time in New York. But I do think that it was a beautiful sentiment from Brad, that, like, they are just so similarly to, like, a lot of people that come to New York City for the first time, that it's just, like, everything is exciting. And so I thought they played it very well. And he directed it very well. So everybody say thank you, Brad.

[1:40:50] All: Thank you, Brad.

[1:40:52] Ian: Thank you, Mr. Ol' Goop-rich.

[1:40:58] Claudia: Anything else to say about For Good? Who's Glinda? Who's Elphaba? Who do you most relate to?

[1:41:03] Ian: Oh, I've talked about this.

[1:41:05] Claudia: We have talked about this?

[1:41:06] Ian: I'm not, like, I've talked about this. We did a Patreon episode on Wicked for Recovering Gleek that was literally, like, three and a half hours long.

[1:41:14] Claudia: Wait, maybe, Ian, do you want to reveal it? Promote it and be like, if you want to find out Ian's answer.

[1:41:19] Ian: Oh, if you want to find out, I'll reveal to you right now. One second.

[1:41:24] Ian: I looked like I wasn't wearing pants.

[1:41:26] Claudia: I am.

[1:41:26] Ian: Yeah, you did.

[1:41:28] Claudia: Shirley!

[1:41:28] Ian: Oh, no, it's Shirley again.

[1:41:30] Claudia: Shirley!

[1:41:31] Ian: Shirley! Her head is so big.

[1:41:35] Claudia: And her face is like this.

[1:41:39] Ian: Whoa, that's awesome.

[1:41:41] Claudia: Wow. This is me.

[1:41:43] Ian: I love that. I'm not scared to be seen. I make no apologies. This is me.

[1:41:46] Claudia: Audio medium.

[1:41:50] Ian: Audio medium, Ian.

[1:41:51] Andrew: And what?

[1:41:54] Ian: And what? I just created a bubble around myself and I floated.

[1:41:59] Claudia: Do it for the listeners.

[1:42:01] Ian: I just opened, I panned the camera over and Jonathan Bailey was naked in my bed. I guess that's not Elphaba.

[1:42:07] Claudia: Oh my god, that could be either one of them.

[1:42:08] Ian: That's Elphaba. I rescind it. Spoilers. Uh, no. You're Glinda through and through.

[1:42:14] Claudia: Yeah, which I'm Glinda through and through since I cannot succeed, which is not like something I'm proud of. I recognize that, you know, Elphaba's the one with the stronger resolve and moral compass, but.

[1:42:28] Ian: Yeah.

[1:42:29] Claudia: I also am, I think at least for most of my life, more Glinda.

[1:42:36] Ian: Do you have a person that you relate to more?

[1:42:40] Claudia: I feel like I'm not a main character enough to be either of them. I don't have like.

[1:42:44] Ian: Who would say that, Glinda or Elphaba?

[1:42:47] Claudia: Maybe Elphaba.

[1:42:47] Ian: Not Glinda.

[1:42:48] Claudia: Yeah, Elphaba would say that. Because, yeah, maybe Elphaba. But like, I don't have as much of like a journey to have to take.

[1:42:57] Ian: Explain that.

[1:42:58] Claudia: I'm not going to claim oppression in the way that Elphaba is.

[1:43:02] Ian: A literal green woman does.

[1:43:04] Claudia: A literal green woman. So, and that kind of low-keys her whole bag.

[1:43:11] Claudia: People’s complaints with Wicked. You talking about a literal green woman. I have had at least three people in my life since that movie come out have the criticism of, I found it kind of silly that they live in a world with talking animals but they're so weirded out by a woman having green skin. Yeah, because talking animals is normal to them and green skin isn't. We live in a world where we go to the moon. We live in a world where we can talk to people on the other side of the world in our hand. We live in a world where you can talk to a robot in your house that does stuff for you. Do you? You thought that article had said by 2025 women would be having sex with robots and women would be having sex with men.

No, but when fantastical stuff is normal, it's normal and you don't think twice about it. But they've never seen someone with green skin before. So yes, it's weird to them. Yeah, it's a stupid complaint. It happened as recently as last Friday and I was like, I can't keep having this conversation with people. You can't do this anymore.

[1:44:18] Andrew: I haven't found myself in that conversation once. That's crazy that keeps on happening to you. I'm so sorry.

[1:44:24] Ian: Because Ian's had these tough conversations for you. He's having the tough conversations on the ground. By the time they get to you, it's over. It's all over.

[1:45:07] Claudia: Yeah. I have another season two, if that's okay with y'all.

[1:45:10] Ian: Oh no, I guess not. Good. I forgot how this works. I thought we just listened to songs and we're like, oh, that's nice. We just vibe. And then we say if we're Glenda or Elphaba.

[1:51:19] Claudia: It's making me like... I know that Jenna and Ryan have a good relationship. But what did she do that made them so sick of her? Because in the beginning, they really do throw her in, kind of, to a handful of group numbers.

[1:51:32] Ian: Well, I think that this is beginning of season two. I'm trying to think of when did they give up on Tina in season two?

[1:51:41] Claudia: That's like...

[1:51:42] Ian: I don't know if she even was...

[1:51:44] Claudia: How far did she make it into having any singing parts in season one?

[1:51:50] Ian: It's... like, it feels kind of front-loaded. But I'm thinking...

[1:51:53] Claudia: It's pretty early that they give up on Tina in season two, because I remember the Glee YouTube parody that you've referenced before, Andrew, that's like, they're not sims, but they look like sims.

[1:52:07] Ian: Yeah, they are sims.

[1:52:09] Claudia: Oh, sure. No, they are. It's Sims 2. The Sims Glee parody, there is a line, and it was...

[1:52:15] Ian: Wait, do you not believe that there's...

[1:52:16] Claudia: No, I genuinely believe you. There is a line, and the only time I ever watched that parody was while season two was airing.

[1:52:25] Ian: Yeah.

[1:52:25] Claudia: And they were doing a parody of the most recent episode, and Tina had a line. And then Quinn's response was, Oh, Tina, I know you're only allowed to say one sentence a week, so I'm really honored that you used it to speak up now. And that is season two. They are already calling out that she is being sidelined.

[1:52:39] Ian: Yeah, so funny.

[1:52:44] Claudia: I saw some, like, think piece on Glee Reddit at one time, that they mentioned that Tina and Artie, Tartie if you will, and that's what you really missed if you will, were about the same level of prominence in the show in season one. They certainly were not main characters, but like, they were around, and they would get plot lines every once in a while, and like, you knew they were there.

[1:53:08] Ian: Wait, do you believe this, or did the Reddit say this?

[1:53:11] Claudia: The Reddit said this.

[1:53:12] Ian: Okay.

[1:53:12] Claudia: And then the decision in season two to break them up is what ended up skyrocketing Artie and then tanking Tina, because they put Artie with Brittany, who is becoming a fan favorite character.

[1:53:27] Ian: Yeah.

[1:53:27] Claudia: And so he started getting a lot of screen time interacting with Brittany, whereas they put Tina with Mike, who was a character that had no screen, not like no screen presence as in he's not charming, but like no screen time at all.

[1:53:40] Ian: Yeah.

[1:53:40] Claudia: So then Tina became even less prominent, because she got put with someone that the writers had put no effort into developing.

[1:53:49] Ian: Yeah.

[1:53:50] Claudia: Yeah, definitely.

[1:53:50] Ian: So that breakup, it really set her up.

[1:53:54] Claudia: And I think that that tends to happen with the breakups on this show, that it's like, I think it's a really fun idea, that it's like, the breakup episode just in general, that it's like, wow, let's see how these eight characters do on their own, you know, without being like anchored in a relationship.

[1:54:10] Ian: I don't agree that Tina was at the same level of importance as Artie in season one.

[1:54:17] Claudia: Yeah, no, I think I don't agree either. Yeah, I'm like, we literally just talked about this on Recovering Gleek, Ian, like that, like, Tina in Wheels, I remember like watching Wheels. And I was like, because up until that point, I was like, I really don't understand. She has been given nothing to do that, like, now she's just a foil, mostly to this character that has close to nothing to do, but here's his episode. So she's given something, you know?

[1:54:44] Ian: Yeah.

[1:54:45] Claudia: Yeah.

[1:54:46] Ian: Sorry, Claudia, what were you going to say?

[1:54:47] Claudia: No, I was just saying that seems true. I also think the writers just never knew what to do with Tina, because Tina, in the script of the pilot, her whole shtick was like, she was shy and had Tourette's, and dressed as, oh, she did have Tourette's originally, actually, it got changed to a stutter.

[1:55:05] Ian: Wait, did she have Tourette's?

[1:55:08] Claudia: Let me look this up before I lie to all your listeners. Glee, Tina, Tourette's.

[1:55:14] Ian: I swear I heard that she had Tourette's in the original script.

[1:55:17] Claudia: I heard that.

[1:55:21] Ian: I don't have time to, like, read all this.

[1:55:23] Claudia: Tina, Jenna revealed on a podcast that Ryan originally wrote Tina to have Tourette's syndrome, but it was scrapped.

[1:55:28] Ian: Okay, yes, in the original script, she had Tourette's, and Jenna has talked about that, like, in her original costume fitting, she was wearing, like, jeans and huge sweaters. That she was written to be kind of the girl who wants to blend into the background.

[1:55:44] Claudia: Yeah.

[1:55:45] Ian: And then, obviously, that got shifted, and when the pilot aired, she, you know, was kind of like a punk girl, and she has a stutter now.

[1:55:54] Claudia: But that just shows to me that they never really nailed down what they wanted this character to be. Like, she had Tourette's, it got changed to a stutter, then a few episodes in, they're like, the stutter isn't working, let's say it's a fake stutter. And she's a punk girl, but then they don't really like that she's punk, so okay, let's make her goth, and then they're over her being goth, so then, I don't know, she dresses mod now. They just never really—I think she started getting sidelined from when the pilot—literally a line in the pilot is Finn looks at Tina and he goes, Tina, I don't really know what you're good at, but I'm sure you'll do great.

[1:56:28] Ian: I just think they never ever figured out what to do with her.

[1:56:28] Claudia: What I do love, I feel like one of the—maybe the best utilization of Tina is theatricality. And like that cold open, she's in Principal Figgin's office, that it's like—and it's also like timely, they utilize Twilight really well, and like intertwine it with this plot, and like it's like maybe the sea plot of this entire episode. Like it's just like kind of just like the thing that like sets the Gaga episode up. But I liked it. I thought it worked well with Tina as a character.

[1:57:07] Ian: But yeah, I think that they—if I had to like say like where they truly like stopped like trying with like Tina, like I feel like after they like—Sue Sylvester's shuffle, she does have a moment where she gets like the wind knocked out of her while on the field. But like, I guess like then she—Silly Love Song, she gets a solo, half solo, whatever. But I'm not—but like I'm not counting she gets a little 90-second moment.

[1:57:34] Claudia: Yeah, you're right, you're right. Like that's not her getting acknowledged in the end.

[1:57:38] Ian: That's true. Yeah. But I'm like, I'm thinking that's still better. You're still acknowledging, because that moment where she gets the wind knocked out of her—

[1:57:56] Andrew: Is back and she's taking some sectionals. Like, there were no... We were never getting plot lines. Even in Power of Madonna, it's similar to Born This Way. No, not Born This Way. It's similar to Theatricality, where Tina is the inciting incident for why all these boys are misogynists. And then once it's set up, they're like, okay, Tina, now sit down and shut up. And then you can say something at the end about how the plotline is resolved. Like, she just never, the whole show, was never getting plot lines, was never getting... She got one solo in the entirety of season one. It's crazy. Um, Claudia, do you want to say anything about Tina Cohen-Chang?

[1:59:03] Claudia: Uh, I think I started this and said that, like, she would have, like, more, kind of, leading vocals in group numbers, at least. That was all I really had to say, I think.

[1:59:12] Andrew: Yeah.

[1:59:15] Claudia: I... Oh, yeah, and that she looked awesome. But everybody did in this number. Like, even in Girl, Jesus, I remember, like, Ian, you brought up, because I was struggling to remember in a recording, like, what the Tina line was in this episode. But it's, um, last week we were too sexy, this week we're too religious, we can't win.

[1:59:35] Andrew: We can't win.

[1:59:36] Claudia: Which is a setup for the Britney line, now I know how Miley feels.

[1:59:39] Ian: Yeah.

[1:59:39] Claudia: And I feel like Tina also had another one. She has another line to Kurt about, like, how dare you not believe in God, basically. That's, like, really insensitive.

[1:59:48] Andrew: Yeah.

[1:59:49] Claudia: But she does have two lines in this episode, so good for you, Tina girl. Big win, big win.

[1:59:53] Andrew: So is that a good Tina episode or not? No.

[1:59:55] Claudia: That's a mid-Tina episode.

[1:59:57] Ian: I think it's an average Tina episode.

[2:00:01] Claudia: I actually knew something.

[2:00:01] Andrew: A good... Oh, yes.

[2:00:03] Claudia: Oh, no, I was just gonna say, you guys were talking about the vampire plot line, and one of my favorite Glee random quote moments is when she, like, appears to Figgins in the hallway and he goes, Nosferatu!

[2:00:19] Ian: Wait!

[2:00:20] Claudia: Topical!

[2:00:21] Ian: Wait, if Nosferatu's nominated...

[2:00:25] Claudia: Not gonna be, but yes, I hope so.

[2:00:27] Ian: Nosferatu, I gotta plug.

[2:00:29] Claudia: That was great. I had a good time.

[2:00:31] Ian: It's a fun movie.

[2:00:32] Claudia: But yeah, and I just tried to find it again on YouTube and I couldn't, because all it was was Nosferatu cast interviews. But I love that.

[2:00:43] Ian: I never realized that he said that.

[2:00:45] Claudia: It's so good.

[2:00:46] Andrew: Okay, what I have to say about One of Us is that every time I listen or watch this performance, I think about how I was, like, lied to about the lyrics of this song for the longest time, that I literally just needed to look it up and make sure of it. Because the lyric, the actual lyric is, what if God was one of us, a slob like one of us? And I remember I had a friend in high school that thoroughly convinced me that the lyric was, a slug like one of us.

[2:01:20] Claudia: And I was like...

[2:01:21] Andrew: I'm a slug, I don't know about you.

[2:01:22] Claudia: I'm a slug.

[2:01:22] Andrew: That makes sense. I was like, whoa, whatever that means. So this song is actually contextually with the band, what the artist had in mind was it was a group of slugs seen together.

[2:01:34] Claudia: Yeah, just a slug.

[2:01:35] Andrew: Thinking about the existence of the world. Just a slug like one of us.

[2:01:39] Claudia: And I love that you're shrugging.

[2:01:41] Andrew: So shrugging slugs.

[2:01:43] Claudia: Shrugging slugs.

[2:01:44] Andrew: That's actually the band's name.

[2:01:45] Claudia: Yeah.

[2:01:46] Andrew: Don't look it up.

[2:01:47] Claudia: Don't look it up.

[2:01:47] Andrew: Don't look it up. Just take my word for it. I love this original song. Of course, the song I discovered through Glee, but I streamed that song. I don't know the original version by Joan Osborne.

[2:02:01] Claudia: Yeah.

[2:02:01] Ian: Sure.

[2:02:02] Andrew: I don't know if, like, the version, the Joan Osborne, like, the ultimate version, it, all of them start off with the, I want to be.

[2:02:12] Claudia: Oh, yeah, I do know about that.

[2:02:14] Ian: I don't know.

[2:02:14] Claudia: Yeah.

[2:02:14] Andrew: The version that I've listened to does start with that, that it's like, it catches me off guard that it, like, it has like a little, like, banjo moment before getting into the actual.

[2:02:23] Claudia: Yeah.

[2:02:24] Ian: It's so weird.

[2:02:26] Andrew: Yeah, it's awesome. Have I never listened to the original version of this song?

[2:02:29] Claudia: You should.

[2:02:30] Andrew: It's very weird.

[2:02:31] Claudia: It's very weird.

[2:02:32] Ian: I don't remember that at all.

[2:02:33] Andrew: They mention slugs a lot.

[2:02:35] Claudia: Yeah, I don't know if you've heard that version.

[2:02:37] Andrew: Dies from salt like one of us.

[2:02:41] Claudia: I always thought that was kind of weird.

[2:02:43] Andrew: Yeah.

[2:02:44] Claudia: It's all coming together now.

[2:02:48] Andrew: Don't.

[2:02:50] Claudia: Don't do it.

[2:02:51] Andrew: Don't. Do we have anything else to say about One of Us?

[2:02:55] Claudia: I wish it was longer. It looks like a Gap ad from 2002.

[2:03:01] Andrew: Yes, in the best way, in my opinion. It was, I remember, I had the Glee calendar in high school. And the picture for November was the picture from One of Us.

[2:03:13] Claudia: All of them up on stage.

[2:03:14] Andrew: So awesome.

[2:03:15] Claudia: That is so November.

[2:03:16] Andrew: That was really November.

[2:03:17] Claudia: Yeah, that is good. I'm frustrated because I, like, love the, I think, MP3 a lot. And so I was getting ready to get really hype. And I was really hype. But it's, like, too short to be a real moment.

[2:03:31] Ian: So.

[2:03:31] Andrew: Yeah.

[2:03:32] Ian: You don't know your vote?

[2:03:36] Andrew: I guess I do. But I want to go last.

[2:03:40] Claudia: Just kidding. I feel like I know what everyone's gonna do.

[2:03:41] Ian: Do I know my vote? I can talk through my vote without, can I talk through my vote without actually casting it? I don't know.

[2:03:48] Andrew: Is that cheating?

[2:03:49] Ian: That's cheating, but that's okay.

[2:03:51] Andrew: Thank you so much. I have received permission to cheat. Because once you pulled this, I was like, this is one of my favorites. But I don't, maybe it's not really one of my favorites. But I always, every time it comes on, I'm like, yeah, I love this one. I forgot about it. And I do like the original song a lot. And again, I don't have as much of a personal or emotional relationship with Wicked or anything. Or with Kurt and Rachel, for that matter. But I feel like comparing the two for good is kind of a stronger performance, vocally and emotionally and story-wise.

[2:04:29] Ian: So I don't know.

[2:04:30] Claudia: Do you guys know?

[2:04:34] Ian: I think I know.

[2:04:35] Claudia: I forgot that you said that you didn't know the vote.

[2:04:38] Ian: Yeah, you said I could cheat, you said I could cheat.

[2:04:43] Ian: Yeah, yeah, God is great. I'm thinking that this song was frankly better than I remembered it being, shout out. I love your Mercedes moment, by the way. Big Mercedes moment, she eats it up. But this is, to me, like the weakest number in Girl, Jesus. It's kind of the one that I could take or leave, personally. It's just really short. Papa, can you hear me?

[2:05:15] Andrew: I love Papa, can you hear me?

[2:05:16] Ian: Papa, can you hear me? I've turned a new leaf with that one.

[2:05:19] Claudia: Yeah.

[2:05:21] Ian: For me, Claudia, this was in your episode with Abby. But I Look to You is...

[2:05:27] Claudia: Yeah, I also don't like that one.

[2:05:28] Ian: Oh, yeah.

[2:05:30] Claudia: There's something about it, I don't...

[2:05:31] Ian: That one's just okay.

[2:05:34] Andrew: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.

[2:05:35] Ian: But it's just like really short. And while the shoulder shrugging, Hilary Duffing, Kevin Jamesing of it all is camp. It also is like, what are we doing here? Like, what's going on? So I do think I'm going for good. A number that I frankly am not crazy about either. I don't love for good. I could take or leave it. I think that, I will say, the cup.

[2:06:05] Claudia: Yeah, it really did some nasty work.

[2:06:07] Ian: Not nasty work. But like, they knew what they were doing when they gave for good right now. They knew. They were like, oh, we're gonna save it until Wicked is topical again.

[2:06:18] Claudia: Yeah.

[2:06:18] Ian: And then that will give them a leg up. So.

[2:06:22] Claudia: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.

[2:06:23] Ian: Because otherwise, I don't think that like, I would be like as. It's still good, but I wouldn't be as crazy about it if I wasn't in the mood. I think I'm actually gonna vote for one of us.

[2:06:36] Andrew: Really?

[2:06:36] Ian: All right.

[2:06:37] Andrew: Give me your hands, Andrew.

[2:06:38] Ian: Okay. I feel like kind of like, boring about it. Because like, I, my intention is to vote for good. Because I'm like, well, one of us, like, they didn't really. It was very short. They didn't show much of the performance. They're talking over it. And I'm like, is that what we're voting for? Is that what the Glacket is? If they talk during the performance, if it's too short, you know, then it's like, where's the fun in that? Because I do still enjoy one of us. We talked about the Jenna vocals. She's sexy vocals, sexy girl. We talk about, you know, also another sexy girl with a sexy voice, Amber Riley. I think that the, it almost feels like a time capsule.

[2:07:27] Claudia: Sexy girl with a sexy change of heart.

[2:07:29] Ian: Jane Lynch. Her heart is even sexier with the change of heart.

[2:07:35] Claudia: Her heart became sexier two sizes that day.

[2:07:38] Ian: Yeah.

[2:07:40] Claudia: Which people didn't think was possible.

[2:07:42] Ian: Whoa.

[2:07:43] Claudia: Whoa.

[2:07:43] Ian: And even sexier heart than before. And it just like, it does feel like a time capsule for whatever reason. There was like, was white t-shirts with jeans. Were they wearing jeans? But I feel like even in 2010, I was like, what are they wearing? What are they wearing? What are they up to? So I think that that's working in their favor. But for good, I think I got to stay in my ground. I still got to vote for for good.

[2:08:09] Andrew: Love you.

[2:08:09] Claudia: Yeah.

[2:08:10] Ian: You hear that, John Chu? This one's for you, babe. Hope you're listening.

[2:08:16] Andrew: Love it. Okay. Are you okay with that, Claudia?

[2:08:20] Claudia: I'm okay with that. I think that's a two for two. People can't, people won't kill me for something bad I did. But I did vote with my heart. And I feel like that's really best case scenario.

[2:08:29] Ian: That's the ultimate cheat sheet.

[2:08:30] Claudia: It's just always vote for the losing song and then no one will ever be bad.

[2:08:34] Andrew: No one can ever be bad.

[2:08:37] Andrew: Okay, both of these, I was voting with my heart though. We have a mission.

[2:08:41] Claudia: We have a mission.

[2:08:43] Andrew: For what's the mission?

[2:08:45] Claudia: Do you find the best song?

[2:08:50] Andrew: Sorry, I ruined the bet.

[2:08:52] Claudia: No, you didn't. That's part of it. There's no rhyme or reason to it. So don't get mad at me.

[2:09:00] Andrew: Let's do one more.

[2:09:02] Claudia: There's more to the song.

[2:09:03] Andrew: We'll break everyone. To find which song will move closer to spot number one. To me, the timing was right, but it probably wasn't for you guys.

[2:09:21] Ian: Yeah.

[2:09:21] Andrew: And the timing was right to me on a spiritual level.

[2:09:24] Claudia: It's a little bit better, actually.

[2:09:27] Ian: Yes.

[2:09:29] Andrew: I have, I fear.

[2:09:33] Ian: I want a bad competition again. We had a pretty low stakes one.

[2:09:37] Andrew: Let's go back to round the first round.

[2:09:39] Claudia: You want to do another bad one? Because I have a feeling that this could be another bad one.

[2:09:43] Ian: Just based on this first song alone.

[2:09:45] Andrew: And let's go.

[2:09:46] Ian: And I think you're going to know exactly what the heck this is.

[2:09:50] Andrew: Maybe?

[2:09:50] Ian: Oh, Jessie's Girl.

[2:09:52] Andrew: It's Jessie's Girl.

[2:09:53] Ian: Jessie's Girl.

[2:09:55] Andrew: Hey, Jessie.

[2:09:57] Ian: Hey, Jessie.

[2:10:00] Andrew: So baby.

[2:10:02] Ian: Jessie is a friend.

[2:10:04] Andrew: Oh, we're getting good songs.

[2:10:05] Ian: Yeah, no, he's been a good friend of mine. But lately, something's changed that ain't hard to define.

[2:10:13] Andrew: Jessie's got himself a girl and I want to make her mine.

[2:10:17] Ian: And she's watching him with those eyes.

[2:10:20] Andrew: And she's loving him with that body.

[2:10:22] Ian: I just know it.

[2:10:24] Andrew: And he's holding her in his arms late, late at night.

[2:10:28] Ian: You know, I wish that I had Jessie's girl.

[2:10:32] Andrew: I wish that I had Jessie's girl.

[2:10:36] Ian: Where can I find a woman like that?

[2:10:41] Andrew: And I'm looking in the mirror all the time.

[2:10:45] Ian: Wondering what she don't see in me.

[2:10:48] Andrew: I've been funny.

[2:10:49] Ian: I've been cool with the lies.

[2:10:52] Andrew: Ain't that the way love's supposed to be?

[2:11:02] Ian: Tell me.

[2:11:03] Andrew: Where can I find a woman like that?

[2:11:06] Ian: Like Jessie's girl?

[2:11:09] Andrew: I wish that I had Jessie's girl.

[2:11:13] Ian: I want Jessie's girl.

[2:11:18] Andrew: Where can I find a woman like that?

[2:11:21] Ian: Like Jessie's girl?

[2:11:24] Andrew: I wish that I had Jessie's girl.

[2:11:27] Ian: I want to want Jessie's girl.

[2:11:32] Andrew: I want Jessie's girl.

[2:11:34] Ian: I want Jessie's girl.

[2:11:40] Andrew: Okay, I'm not going to stop sharing the screen because I need to lead discussion with something that I realized while I was making that video. Yep, here it is. There is audio medium. I'm sure I'll include it in the carousel. But I realized that there is a pan that quickly starts with Matt and then goes over to Rachel. But what Matt is doing is like heavily scratching his eye.

[2:12:09] Claudia: Here it is.

[2:12:12] Andrew: And he has pink eye.

[2:12:14] Ian: Oh, was this?

[2:12:17] Claudia: The ear, pink in the eye.

[2:12:19] Ian: Oh, I hate what that sounds like.

[2:12:23] Andrew: Um, okay. Jessie's, Jessie's little baby girl.

[2:12:29] Claudia: Jessie's Goyle.

[2:12:31] Ian: Goyle.

[2:12:35] Claudia: I had a thought.

[2:12:41] Andrew: When Laryngitis aired, I saw a review online from some professional critic, whoever it was, I don't remember, and they said essentially, like, the moment we all saw coming is here. The entire reason behind the name of Jesse St. James has finally come to fruition. Finn has sung Jesse's Girl. I can't wait for season two when Finn will date a girl named Cecilia, who breaks his heart and shakes his confidence daily.

[2:13:11] Claudia: Wait. I'm so sorry. Wait. Cecilia, you're breaking my heart. You're shaking my confidence daily.

[2:13:22] Ian: Oh my god, they're singing original songs.

[2:13:27] Claudia: Wait, is that really popular? I'm so sorry.

[2:13:29] Ian: Yes, it's Simon & Garfunkel, isn't it?

[2:13:32] Claudia: Yeah, I don't know if it's popular.

[2:13:33] Ian: I think it's Simon & Garf's.

[2:13:37] Claudia: Garfunky? I believe you.

[2:13:39] Ian: I'm correct, it is. I'm correct, it is.

[2:13:42] Claudia: I'm down on my knees, I'm begging you please don't come home. I just want to say, let the record show, me and Claudia did know the beginning banjo portion of One of Us, and you didn't.

[2:13:51] Ian: Oh my god, who's more famous, Simon & Garfunkel or the Shrugging Snails?

[2:13:56] Claudia: The Shrugging Slugs!

[2:13:58] Ian: That's the Slugs, that's the joke!

[2:14:00] Claudia: And that's how unfamous they are.

[2:14:03] Ian: Oh, that was a setup. You did it on purpose!

[2:14:06] Claudia: Um, can we talk about Jaycee's girl for once? Instead of this man, Cecilia?

[2:14:10] Ian: Can we talk about John Locke?

[2:14:13] Claudia: I have such a crush on John Locke.

[2:14:16] Ian: Sitting right behind Finn. I just really liked how he just got up and sat right on back.

[2:14:21] Claudia: He really got ousted.

[2:14:22] Ian: He really got ousted.

[2:14:24] Claudia: Let him take the drums. Just let him take the drums. That's why I'm a girl.

[2:14:27] Ian: You're obsessed with both John Locke's.

[2:14:29] Claudia: I'm obsessed with all three John Locke's. I think the Philosopher has some good ideas as well.

[2:14:33] Ian: Who's the other one?

[2:14:34] Claudia: John Locke from TV's Lost.

[2:14:37] Ian: Ah, yes.

[2:14:39] Claudia: My favorite character in Lost is John Locke.

[2:14:41] Ian: I always think of the Philosopher.

[2:14:42] Claudia: And my favorite character in Glee is the drummer John Locke.

[2:14:45] Ian: Also a Philosopher.

[2:14:46] Claudia: Also a Philosopher. And my favorite historical figure is the Philosopher John Locke.

[2:14:52] Ian: He's a Philosopher with his hand play.

[2:14:55] Claudia: Exactly.

[2:14:58] Ian: Changing my way of thinking.

[2:15:04] Claudia: Okay. I've seen a body roll audio medium.

[2:15:06] Ian: That came across.

[2:15:08] Claudia: The energy was felt.

[2:15:11] Ian: Everyone was listening. It was like, whoa.

[2:15:15] Andrew: Okay, as I was watching this performance, something I realized and something I was really stewing on was that sometimes I get afraid to record with Ian because the way that I record notes and the way that you respond to songs is so widely different.

[2:15:33] Claudia: Okay, for example, one of the notes I wrote down was, I really like the use of the silhouette of Rachel, and I wish that Glee used silhouettes more.

[2:15:42] Ian: And then an Ian reaction is very insightful, very introspective, very philosophical.

[2:15:49] Claudia: Like the Philosopher John Locke.

[2:15:51] Ian: Like John Locke.

[2:15:51] Claudia: Yeah. It's like we got John Locke on the pod.

[2:15:54] Ian: It's like, I can't even talk about this damn show.

[2:15:56] Claudia: So that's what's coming to mind.

[2:15:57] Ian: That's incredibly kind of you to say. It's also overblown because you have very good insights into this show as well.

[2:16:06] Claudia: I frequently listen, not to just turn this into an episode where we're like, no, you!

[2:16:13] Ian: But I frequently listen to this podcast.

[2:16:13] Andrew: Claudia, you'll get your turn.

[2:16:16] Ian: You know what? I'll throw in a Claudia one as well. Um, Andrew, I frequently listen to this podcast and I'm just so impressed with A, your ability to interview and be calm with anyone and make them feel welcome and safe. But then B, you have very, very good insights into the show that one, I love to hear. But two, I'm like, damn it! Why has that never occurred to me? Like, what a smart thing to think about.

[2:16:41] Claudia: And also, Andrew, my new friend that I met two months ago.

[2:16:47] Ian: Come on, E!

[2:16:48] Claudia: Genuinely, Andrew, despite what your brother thinks, a Claudia episode is always entertaining because when you bring strong opinions and a sense of humor and a very strong emotional reaction to the show, it is always a good listen when you're on the podcast.

[2:17:03] Andrew: Thank you, E. I appreciate it.

[2:17:06] Claudia: I appreciate it.

[2:17:07] Ian: You're welcome.

[2:17:08] Andrew: Do you want more?

[2:17:09] Claudia: No.

[2:17:11] Ian: Actually?

[2:17:13] Claudia: No, yeah, no.

[2:17:14] Ian: Oh, also, Claudia, you should know who John Locke is.

[2:17:16] Claudia: We watched Lost for the first time together.

[2:17:18] Ian: Yes. Well, he was in a quick scene.

[2:17:20] Claudia: He also literally is, has like one line in Exposé.

[2:17:24] Ian: Yeah.

[2:17:24] Claudia: Is he in that episode at all?

[2:17:26] Ian: I need to watch those episodes still.

[2:17:29] Claudia: I still have not gotten in the show.

[2:17:31] Ian: I started the pilot.

[2:17:32] Claudia: I think so.

[2:17:33] Ian: And since then, I've watched, I think like a hundred episodes.

[2:17:37] Claudia: I think you are nearing.

[2:17:38] Ian: Have you watched the Daniel Faraday episode?

[2:17:40] Claudia: I'm over halfway through season five.

[2:17:43] Ian: Um, I have not watched the Daniel Faraday episode.

[2:17:46] Claudia: That's the hundredth episode where they sing Razorglass a second time.

[2:17:50] Ian: Yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes.

[2:17:51] Claudia: Did you see me?

[2:17:52] Ian: And they do define me.

[2:17:53] Claudia: You got really good.

[2:17:56] Ian: Yeah, yeah, yeah.

[2:17:57] Claudia: Okay, I'm not quite there.

[2:17:59] Ian: Yo, Daniel Faraday currently is missing.

[2:18:02] Claudia: He's MIA.

[2:18:03] Ian: Oops, sorry. Spoiler.

[2:18:04] Claudia: Just kidding. I know he comes back.

[2:18:06] Ian: Yeah, yeah, yeah. It would be crazy for them to be like, we don't know where he is. And then it's just never brought up again.

[2:18:12] Claudia: He's still Billed.

[2:18:13] Ian: If you knew the actor's name, you'd be like, wait, why is his name still Billed?

[2:18:16] Claudia: Well, that's like, spoiler alert, a certain blonde with blue eyes on that show, which does not narrow it down because there's 30 of them, has been gone for like 20 episodes at this point. And I'm always like, so when is anyone going to give a damn that she's missing?

[2:18:31] Ian: Do you know that actress's name?

[2:18:34] Claudia: No.

[2:18:34] Ian: Oh, see, that's, that's kind of fun.

[2:18:38] Claudia: One last thing I need to say about Lost before we go back.

[2:18:41] Ian: It's Reese Witherspoon.

[2:18:42] Claudia: She's missing all the time.

[2:18:43] Ian: It's Academy Award winner.

[2:18:44] Claudia: Oh my god.

[2:18:46] Ian: Yeah, yeah, yeah. There, in season four, a character comes back. And like, they don't appear until episode eight.

[2:18:55] Claudia: You know, I'm going to say it real quick. Michael.

[2:18:58] Ian: But like, Harold Perrineau is Billed the entire season that like, I was afraid that you were going to, were you, did you see that at all?

[2:19:05] Claudia: And I know his name.

[2:19:07] Ian: Yeah. And I simply just don't read opening credits.

[2:19:10] Claudia: I can't be bothered.

[2:19:12] Ian: No, it's so, it's so stupid that they literally like, tease at the beginning of the episode. They're like, there's someone on the boat. And I know who it is. It's my little spy. And it's like, we saw the opening credits. We know exactly who this person is. Don't play with me right now.

[2:19:27] Claudia: Anyway, Jessie's Girl, Glee Cast Version by Glee Cast.

[2:19:29] Ian: Speaking of spies on boats.

[2:19:31] Claudia: True, true.

[2:19:34] Ian: I'm looking in the mirror all the time.

[2:19:36] Claudia: Kind of like Jessie St. James as a spy on a boat.

[2:19:39] Ian: Yeah, he kind of is.

[2:19:41] Claudia: I'm sick.

[2:19:41] Ian: The boat is the New Directions.

[2:19:43] Claudia: Yeah, the spy on the boat.

[2:19:45] Ian: The spying on the boat.

[2:19:50] Claudia: I was really like, just chomping at the bit for this when I was watching the show. But Finchel is so damn annoying.

[2:19:54] Ian: They're so damn annoying.

[2:19:58] Claudia: Constantly making it everyone's problem that they're like, whatever. I was living for it. But I'm watching this, I'm like, oh my god, it's like the third time that they've sung at each other about like, not being able to have each other. Because one of them did something stupid and annoying. But now they're saying someone's name that actually like works with the plot. Does that mean anything to you?

[2:20:17] Ian: Yeah, that's pretty good.

[2:20:17] Claudia: No, yeah, that's definitely big bonus points. Also, Baby Fin.

[2:20:22] Ian: So perfect.

[2:20:22] Claudia: Baby boy, love him.

[2:20:24] Ian: Well, not really, but yeah.

[2:20:26] Claudia: He's so cute. I didn't, I didn't get, I wasn't like, attracted to him in high school for some reason.

[2:20:32] Ian: Yeah, I know who you were.

[2:20:35] Claudia: Who?

[2:20:36] Ian: Did you say on the podcast?

[2:20:37] Claudia: Puck!

[2:20:37] Ian: You talked about this all the time.

[2:20:38] Claudia: Yeah, you said Puck.

[2:20:40] Ian: Have I said that publicly?

[2:20:41] Claudia: Yes, you were the ones.

[2:20:43] Ian: Okay, okay. Well, sorry.

[2:20:47] Claudia: Whoopsie.

[2:20:47] Ian: You got one, Ian?

[2:20:52] Ian: It's John Locke.

[2:20:52] Claudia: Next question is John Locke.

[2:20:54] Ian: No, I didn't notice John Locke as a teenager. The thing is like, I was like really closeted as a teenager to a degree. There's a lot of teenagers who are like, oh my gosh, I'm having gay feelings, but I can't tell anyone. I would be like, I'm not having gay feelings. No, I'm not. No, I'm not. No, I'm not. So a lot of it was like very under the surface. But the two that would bubble up the most are Puck and William Shuster.

[2:21:20] Claudia: Oh, yeah, no, the same.

[2:21:24] Ian: I've said this on my podcast and Touchy Touchy Touched me when she rips off his shirt, but he still has a tie on. I was like, I need to go to church. I was like, I had to turn this off. I can't be watching stuff like this.

[2:21:37] Claudia: Yeah.

[2:21:38] Ian: No, I get that. It had the same effect on me. And I'm like, literally, we can't even get into this conversation.

[2:21:44] Claudia: That's how I knew I was gay, too.

[2:21:47] Ian: In an opposite way.

[2:21:48] Claudia: And enough of that. The shirt went off and you went, put it back on.

[2:21:51] Ian: What the heck? David Mays put the shirt on.

[2:21:53] Claudia: No, let me see the cute little girls giggling outside. That's not scary.

[2:21:56] Ian: That's not really scary.

[2:21:59] Claudia: So we have that soundbite, too.

[2:22:01] Ian: Gotcha.

[2:22:02] Claudia: Gotcha journalism.

[2:22:03] Ian: Got that on my ice cream.

[2:22:07] Claudia: I think we can all agree that it's really nice that the title Jesse's Girl goes with the name of a character in the show Glee.

[2:22:14] Ian: Jesus.

[2:22:15] Claudia: Hear me out. Not embarrassing. I did also think Jesse was hot.

[2:22:20] Ian: Yeah, he is.

[2:22:21] Claudia: Tried to dress like him because I wanted to look like Jesse St. James.

[2:22:23] Ian: The scarf?

[2:22:24] Claudia: That's awesome.

[2:22:24] Ian: Scarf?

[2:22:25] Claudia: Yes, a scarf over a v-neck. I would wear that and literally my mindset would be, I look like Jesse St. James right now.

[2:22:31] Ian: That makes me think you're actually very cool.

[2:22:35] Claudia: That's kind of a very brave thing to do.

[2:22:36] Ian: That's very brave.

[2:22:38] Claudia: Can I say something that maybe only bothers me?

[2:22:42] Ian: Yeah, I think you can.

[2:22:45] Claudia: It's kind of annoying to me that they had the ability to spell Jesse St. James's name knowing that they were going to sing Jesse's Girl the same way that Jesse's Girl, Jesse, is spelled, and yet they spelled Jesse St. James J-E-S-S-E and then they had an I in for...

[2:23:09] Ian: I do think that I is more feminine. Am I wrong?

[2:23:14] Claudia: Jesse the Yodeling Cowgirl is with an I.

[2:23:16] Ian: Yeah.

[2:23:17] Claudia: Yeah, because it's like a Jessica situation. That's why you put the I in there because there's an I in Jessica.

[2:23:21] Ian: So is Debbie Ryan, no?

[2:23:23] Claudia: Maybe not.

[2:23:24] Ian: I think Debbie is with an I.

[2:23:27] Claudia: Jesse?

[2:23:27] Ian: Oh no, no, no.

[2:23:28] Claudia: That's a good question.

[2:23:29] Ian: Hey, Jesse, is that...

[2:23:32] Claudia: I think that is with an I.

[2:23:33] Ian: TV show.

[2:23:36] Claudia: It's with an I.

[2:23:37] Ian: Because the I is the Empire State Building.

[2:23:39] Claudia: Awesome. I was like, what do you mean? Now I understand what you mean.

[2:23:45] Ian: Because Jesse's Girl is about a lesbian couple, Jesse and her girlfriend.

[2:23:52] Claudia: You're doing a bit.

[2:23:54] Ian: I'm doing a bit.

[2:23:55] Claudia: They use he and pronounce in the song.

[2:23:57] Ian: I just want everyone. I want the stupid Gleek. The one stupid Gleek listening to this.

[2:24:03] Claudia: There's only one.

[2:24:04] Ian: You don't know who you are. I'm talking right at you. Look at your two best friends and if they aren't a stupid Gleek, it's you.

[2:24:14] Claudia: They're not going to understand what you mean.

[2:24:16] Ian: Okay, I feel like most of that conversation was just about the name. Do we have anything to say about the performance?

[2:24:22] Claudia: I do agree. I do agree with what you said at the beginning, which is the silhouette is awesome.

[2:24:27] Ian: Is that actually Leo?

[2:24:28] Claudia: It's awesome. Their hair looks too voluminous. But I'm just like, why didn't they do more? Like, I feel like they could play with silhouettes more on the show and they don't.

[2:24:37] Ian: Yeah, I agree. They totally should.

[2:24:38] Claudia: Yeah, you're right, Andrew. Have I ran myself into the ground talking about Gleek?

[2:24:42] Ian: No, talk more about it.

[2:24:43] Claudia: I think they should do more silhouettes. Where else would they do silhouettes?

[2:24:46] Ian: Where are the other silhouettes in the show?

[2:24:48] Claudia: Where else?

[2:24:49] Ian: Yeah.

[2:24:50] Claudia: I don't know. I just think that like an old musical theater standard. Like, I think that Anon specifically is coming to mind. I guess like Cellblock Tango.

[2:25:01] Ian: Wait, I feel like they do some silhouettes in like Toxic Season 5, right?

[2:25:05] Claudia: Oh, yeah, they do.

[2:25:06] Ian: Toxic Season 5.

[2:25:07] Claudia: Yeah.

[2:25:08] Ian: Okay.

[2:25:09] Claudia: In a good, good way. And yeah, they use it in a great way. So it's like, do more. I want to see one bad silhouette performance, you know?

[2:25:17] Ian: How dare both of them be good?

[2:25:19] Claudia: Right.

[2:25:19] Ian: At least do a bad one.

[2:25:20] Claudia: Yeah, I'm hearing you, Andrew. I'm totally hearing you.

[2:25:25] Ian: This is the glee content that I can describe.

[2:25:28] Claudia: And I love it. Oh, yeah. I mean, yeah, this is girl. I don't know why I like really have nothing to say. Um, it's iconic. It's like Finn's most iconic song, maybe in the whole show, but definitely in Season 1. It's a banger.

[2:25:42] Ian: I personally am a Finn and Finchel apologist. We don't have to get into that.

[2:25:48] Claudia: But I love both concepts.

[2:25:51] Ian: I think I am. Part of me wants to fight you, too.

[2:25:52] Claudia: No, I don't want to fight you. Because I was very, very obsessed with, I think, them both. I was definitely really into Finchel. I didn't when I watched Glee the first time, I didn't really know that I was supposed to hate Rachel. And I thought she was just kind of a legend.

[2:26:08] Ian: Legend.

[2:26:08] Claudia: And she is kind of a legend. Like, she is kind of a legend. I don't know what to tell you. It's a big word to use, but yeah.

[2:26:13] Ian: I use that kind of a lot. But I mean, famously, my girls were well, maybe the Rachel part isn't famous. But I had a Pretty Little Liars fan account where I would sometimes dabble in multi-fandom, okay? And one time, I did a post of all my favorite female characters. And Brittany and Rachel were in there.

[2:26:31] Ian: Not the channel, which is weird.

[2:26:34] Claudia: Bringing Brittany and Rachel, would they interact with each other? I don't know.

[2:26:40] Ian: I guess you have to read them.

[2:26:45] Claudia: No, it wasn't a fan fiction. It was just like pictures on Instagram.

[2:26:50] Ian: Of characters and scenes.

[2:26:52] Claudia: Oh, do we have it for the carousel?

[2:26:56] Ian: Maybe, if you're lucky.

[2:26:58] Claudia: Don't piss me off with this one.

[2:27:00] Ian: Don't piss me off.

[2:27:01] Claudia: I have a legal note that might piss you off.

[2:27:04] Ian: Is it Stevie Nicks?

[2:27:08] Claudia: She says, on my last day on this earth, I'll remember watching Jessie's Girl on Glee.

[2:27:14] Ian: Oh, that's not the legal note. That's a great legal note.

[2:27:17] Claudia: And then she goes over.

[2:27:17] Ian: That's not what she said.

[2:27:19] Claudia: That's not what she said. She just loved it.

[2:27:25] Claudia: You're playing Jesse's girl. Like he narrowed, like, or she like pointed at him.

[2:27:29] Ian: Yeah. I think that she calls him Jesse's girl. Oh yeah. Which makes me think, how locked in is Stevie Nicks while watching Glee?

[2:27:41] Claudia: Girl, it's been two seasons. I mean, a thing to talk about with this song that you already mentioned last time I, Robert Ulrich, was on, was Damian McGuinty singing on The Glee Project and singing, I wish that I was Jesse's girl. Oh yeah. And as someone who didn't see The Glee Project when it was airing, I never understood why Damian McGuinty won. Much love to him. He just doesn't have great screen presence on Glee. And then I watched that performance and I 100% got it. Got it. Yeah. Oh, I totally fully understand why Ryan Murphy loved this kid so much. He is so charming. And like, it's like, and I doubly understand why he was chosen because there, there was like, sometimes on Glee Project, there will be like one person that really doesn't get it.

Doesn't get the, the contestant. And like, if it's Ryan, then it's like bad news bears, they're out. Yeah. But like all four of them, you, Robert, Zach, Nikki, and Ryan were all completely smitten first episode. So. And like, frankly, I was too. It just sucks it like, didn't translate.

[2:28:49] Ian: Yeah. No, it's unfortunate. Um, I, my legal note, however, not Stevie Nicks, Jesse's girl, is that this song actually lost to Take a Bow in round one. And this song was voted back in.

[2:29:00] Claudia: Oh, she's back from the dead.

[2:29:11] Ian: And also now I'm considering it. Take a Bow is still in the damn cup. So we could have the same exact competition. And I hope, and I hope, please. Something.

[2:29:23] Claudia: Yeah, that would be major.

[2:29:31] Ian: You look so dumb right now.

[2:29:36] Claudia: He's like, I forgot. He's like, wait, why?

[2:29:40] Ian: What do I do now?

[2:29:43] Claudia: Okay.

[2:29:46] Ian: This is. No way.

[2:29:52] Claudia: People will say that it's rigged. That's so crazy.

[2:29:54] Ian: Oh my God. That's insane.

[2:29:56] Claudia: No way. That's so insane.

[2:29:58] Ian: How many more songs are left at that?

[2:30:02] Claudia: There is. Okay, so it was 48. Are there five more episodes? So there's 30 left, right?

[2:30:05] Ian: There there. Okay, so it was 48 two episodes ago. This included. So now 42 songs left. I think.

[2:30:13] Claudia: That's insane.

[2:30:15] Ian: That's really crazy.

[2:30:17] Claudia: 32 songs. No, wait, no, I don't know. I don't know.

[2:30:20] Ian: Wait, wait, wait. Don't listen to me. I'm.

[2:30:22] Claudia: No, no, I can find it really quick. If it was 48 at the beginning of last episode.

[2:30:27] Ian: Oh my God, you're so fucking right.

[2:30:29] Claudia: Yeah, then it would have been 42 at the end of the episode. And then now we're at 36.

[2:30:33] Ian: Now we're at 36.

[2:30:35] Claudia: But there were 37 before you drew that.

[2:30:37] Ian: That's crazy. And guys, do you know what it was? Do you? Do you?

[2:30:42] Claudia: And we were all freaking out.

[2:30:43] Ian: And we're all freaking out. It's like, it was like, look at me.

[2:30:47] Claudia: Reprise.

[2:30:52] Ian: Um, this is really.

[2:30:54] Claudia: That's crazy.

[2:30:56] Ian: I can't believe we got Dromp versus I'll get back to me now.

[2:31:00] Claudia: And a literal shot for shot remake of a round one.

[2:31:04] Ian: That's so crazy.

[2:31:06] Claudia: This is historic.

[2:31:08] Ian: The cop was like, oh, you we get a clean house with some of these Rollos.

[2:31:12] Claudia: That's wild.

[2:31:13] Ian: We literally only have like my man left now.

[2:31:16] Claudia: I think.

[2:31:18] Ian: Oh, wow.

[2:31:19] Claudia: You're not baby.

[2:31:49] Ian: When I know you're only sorry you got caught, but you put on quite a show.

[2:31:58] Claudia: Really had me going.

[2:32:01] Ian: Now it's time to go.

[2:32:04] Claudia: Curtains finally closing.

[2:32:07] Ian: That was quite a show.

[2:32:10] Claudia: Very entertaining.

[2:32:13] Ian: But it's over now.

[2:32:19] Claudia: Go on and take a bow.

[2:32:25] Ian: And the award for the best liar goes to you.

[2:32:34] Claudia: For making me believe that you could be faithful to me.

[2:32:43] Ian: Let's hear your speech.

[2:32:54] Claudia: Now it's time to go.

[2:32:57] Ian: Curtains finally closing.

[2:33:00] Claudia: That was quite a show.

[2:33:02] Ian: Very entertaining.

[2:33:06] Claudia: But it's over now.

[2:33:12] Ian: Go on and take a bow.

[2:33:18] Claudia: But it's over now.

[2:33:22] Ian: Anybody else kind of getting glaze-a-voo?

[2:33:25] Claudia: We literally had this performance in round one.

[2:33:27] Ian: That's crazy.

[2:33:29] Claudia: That's insane.

[2:33:31] Ian: So insane.

[2:33:33] Claudia: I gotta say, oh, I'm voting the same way I did.

[2:33:37] Ian: I don't remember how you voted last time.

[2:33:38] Claudia: And I don't know which way you voted, so.

[2:33:40] Ian: Exactly.

[2:33:40] Claudia: Exactly, boom.

[2:33:41] Ian: I'm voting the same way I did.

[2:33:43] Claudia: Me too.

[2:33:44] Ian: Yep, when we did this in 2021.

[2:33:48] Claudia: Oh, who wants to start this one?

[2:33:55] Ian: I'm trying to figure out what I can say without revealing which way I'm voting.

[2:34:00] Claudia: I, this is a competition, there's been a lot of season one, this episode, which is really special to me because I just love season one so much.

[2:34:08] Ian: Also a lot of Finchel this episode, which is really special to me because I love Finchel.

[2:34:13] Claudia: These both, both these numbers kind of frame something I really find endearing about Fin and Rachel respectively, which is Fin is a guy who's always stepping in it. Who's always messing up. Who is just like a very flawed teenage boy who drops the ball, puts his foot in his mouth, does the wrong thing. But at the end of the day, he's gonna, not always, but most of the time, he's gonna try and make things right. He's gonna try and resolve his issues.

[2:34:45] Ian: And Jessie's girl, we got Fin started dating Rachel and then was like, wait, she's kind of annoying. And also I'm like self-conscious that she's not very popular. So he dumps her. And then now realizes, oh my gosh, I shouldn't have done that. And it's like going balls to the wall, putting himself out there to be like, hey, you should be dating me, not that guy you're with.

[2:35:06] Claudia: And then Rachel, as I mentioned before, just big time loser. Nobody likes her. She has no idea how to connect with other people. And she wants nothing more than to be loved, but she doesn't know how to go about getting that love.

[2:35:19] Ian: And Take A Bow is so sad that Fin was someone that she was like, oh my gosh, maybe a boy finds me pretty. Maybe a boy likes me. And then just kidding, he's still with Quinn. But then also, more than that, it's also so overdramatic and ridiculous, which I love. Her crying in the mirror, holding her brush as a comb is so dumb, so overdramatic teenage theater girl. And also the fact that he has a full girlfriend that he has been dating for a while, and then they kiss one time and he immediately is like, I actually have to leave. And then she's like, I can't believe he didn't leave his girlfriend for me! It's so ridiculous. I just love her. She's a big loser. She's awesome.

[2:36:11] Claudia: She's a legend.

[2:36:12] Ian: She's awesome.

[2:36:13] Claudia: She is a legend.

[2:36:14] Ian: What do you mean?

[2:36:16] Claudia: She's a legend.

[2:36:17] Ian: Don't use that lightly.

[2:36:18] Claudia: Yeah.

[2:36:20] Ian: Uh, Claudia, do you want to take the rank?

[2:36:23] Claudia: It's awesome.

[2:36:24] Ian: I don't even mean to say awesome again. But it's really funny.

[2:36:28] Claudia: It's really...

[2:36:30] Ian: It's very impressive, I think, kind of the character that Lea Michele created, imbuing all these little details that are also probably that Ryan Murphy created this character based on Lea Michele. But like, all these kinds of things, like she knows this girl so well. She would throw this little tantrum in a musical fashion and like the way she's kind of using her body language as she's singing on the stage is really like, yeah, it's just kind of tragically funny.

[2:37:07] Claudia: Mercedes and Tina are wearing amazing outfits and doing a really good job back there. I need them to be backup singers more.

[2:37:10] Ian: And I hate FWIN a lot.

[2:37:13] Claudia: I really hate Finn and Quinn. They make me sick.

[2:37:16] Ian: And that those are my those are most of my comments. Every time they're on the screen. I was like, God, I hate them so much. They make me really upset.

[2:37:20] Claudia: So how about I'm born this way when Finn goes up to Quinn and is like, I'm gonna hang this picture of you up in my locker and be like, that's my girlfriend. It's a picture of Lucy Cabousy. Is that not a good FWIN moment?

[2:37:27] Ian: I like that.

[2:37:30] Claudia: I don't like that.

[2:37:36] Ian: No, no.

[2:37:38] Claudia: No, I was thinking I really don't like that version of them either.

[2:37:42] Ian: FWIN that is that really?

[2:37:45] Claudia: That is the best ship name that we could have come up with for them.

[2:37:49] Ian: What are you gonna do?

[2:37:50] Claudia: Kin?

[2:37:51] Ian: That's crazy.

[2:37:51] Claudia: I forgot that like, that's it.

[2:37:53] Ian: Yeah, that's pretty terrible.

[2:37:56] Claudia: Unless they did the last names. What would that be?

[2:37:59] Ian: Habre?

[2:38:00] Claudia: Habre.

[2:38:00] Ian: That's pretty bad too.

[2:38:01] Claudia: Fudson?

[2:38:02] Ian: Fudson.

[2:38:02] Claudia: I like Fudson.

[2:38:03] Ian: Fudson's good.

[2:38:05] Claudia: They're futzing around.

[2:38:06] Ian: True.

[2:38:08] Claudia: In the hot tub.

[2:38:12] Ian: I friggin love this song, performance, mp3, mp4. It's so good.

[2:38:20] Claudia: And it's like, while I was watching this, I was like, this is like really the moment. I don't know if I could like really say like, what? 14 year old me like understood the show's tone. But I'm sure like the tone of the show feels so like, concrete by this point in episode two. That like, I just love this shot of Rachel.

[2:38:41] Ian: Just like so pathetic throughout the entire like performance and frankly series. Where she is like, it's framed with Fwin Fudson close to the camera.

[2:39:01] Claudia: Fwin Fudson.

[2:39:02] Ian: Fwin Fudson.

[2:39:03] Claudia: Fwin Fudson.

[2:39:07] Ian: Hello, I'm Fwin Fudson.

[2:39:10] Claudia: I'm Fwin Fudson.

[2:39:12] Ian: Fwin Fudson would be a beautiful name for a baby girl.

[2:39:14] Claudia: I agree.

[2:39:15] Ian: I agree.

[2:39:16] Claudia: Fwin Fudson might be title of app.

[2:39:18] Ian: I really like that.

[2:39:19] Claudia: Yeah, it's really good.

[2:39:21] Ian: And like, and Rachel, like non, what is that called? Like non-diegetic?

[2:39:25] Claudia: No.

[2:39:27] Ian: Where it's like, it's like actually, which is like not like she's not actually there.

[2:39:29] Claudia: Like singing at them, where it's like, there's the humor of like how pathetic it is already.

[2:39:37] Ian: And like also sad.

[2:39:38] Claudia: Like I'm not saying that it isn't like sad and like we haven't all been there. But like also like the humor of like, oh my God, like she's just right there close to them, singing at them.

[2:39:47] Ian: And then also like cut to like,

[2:39:50] Claudia: Full tears too.

[2:39:51] Ian: Full tears.

[2:39:52] Claudia: And the cut to the hairbrush, which I think is also like sad, funny, pathetic. All of the things.

[2:40:00] Ian: And the fact that like, it's like, take a bow, take a bow as a song. I'm just like, crazy. Love this song.

[2:40:06] Claudia: And I think that it's like such a, such a fun choice for Rachel. And I know that like, everyone's like, oh, here, here, incoming legal note.

[2:40:13] Ian: Yeah.

[2:40:14] Claudia: Okay, here it is. If you wanted it. They're talking, they like Adam Anders and like Ryan Murphy talked about like, you know, giving this song to Lee Michele in episode two. And wasn't in her wheelhouse. And how hard they tried to get her to sing in like a pop style. So I think that like, you nailed it. Knowing that, that it was like even a feat within itself.

[2:40:35] Ian: Girl, you did the damn thing.

[2:40:37] Claudia: And I love you so much for it.

[2:40:39] Ian: Honey, you nailed it.

[2:40:40] Claudia: Honey, you nailed it.

[2:40:41] Ian: And also, yeah, Mercedes and Tina in the back.

[2:40:45] Claudia: It wasn't until this viewing that my eyes shifted to Tina and realized that Mercedes, Mercedes with like the, what is it like the one piece bathing suit? Like, right?

[2:40:55] Ian: I did not catch that.

[2:40:58] Claudia: No, no. You know what I'm talking about? Like she's wearing a white shirt with like, it's a graphic tee.

[2:41:02] Ian: A white shirt with like a black one piece bathing suit on top.

[2:41:08] Claudia: Do you know what I'm talking about?

[2:41:09] Ian: No.

[2:41:10] Claudia: Wait.

[2:41:11] Ian: Like literally in my mind's eye, she's wearing a vest.

[2:41:14] Claudia: No, she's like wearing a graphic tee.

[2:41:16] Ian: I was locked into one Rachel Barber Berry.

[2:41:19] Claudia: I love Rachel's season one fashion. I'm obsessed.

[2:41:21] Ian: I still think that's a vest.

[2:41:24] Claudia: That does look like a vest, but it is weird.

[2:41:26] Ian: It looks very weird.

[2:41:27] Claudia: No, that's like, y'all, why? If that was a bathing suit, why is the crotch like that?

[2:41:33] Ian: Yeah, it's a crotchless bathing suit, babe.

[2:41:35] Claudia: What beaches are you going to?

[2:41:36] Ian: Wait, really? Like, is that, is that really what's happening there?

[2:41:40] Claudia: It's a pattern.

[2:41:41] Ian: It's either a, I think it's a pattern on the shirt to like look like she's wearing kind of like a bustier vest thing.

[2:41:47] Claudia: It's okay. My, my opinion still stands.

[2:41:52] Ian: It's fun.

[2:41:54] Claudia: I still love it.

[2:41:55] Ian: I don't care what it is.

[2:41:56] Claudia: I still love it.

[2:41:56] Ian: And I love this, like, frock that that Tina's wearing.

[2:42:01] Claudia: Yeah, she's she looks really good.

[2:42:03] Ian: She looks awesome.

[2:42:04] Claudia: Yeah.

[2:42:05] Ian: I must have stopped myself.

[2:42:07] Claudia: But Rachel.
