[1:13] Clucky: That was certainly a harrowing ordeal you went through, Kitten. I can't imagine being stuck in a tree and in the rain. I'm glad you're alright.

[1:22] Kitten: I'm glad the mom person didn't fall off the ladder either. How scary.

[1:26] Clucky: Yeah, if the mom person fell off the ladder, how would we get food? Xander told me she's the one that buys it from the farm store.

[1:34] Kitten: Meow, Clucky, it is always food with you. Well, I'm certainly lucky things turned out the way they did. So, Pharrell is here. That just boggles my mind. I'm pretty sure I didn't dream that whole thing up. He's supposed to come by again today.

[1:51] Clucky: Hoo-wee, I'm so excited to get a chance to meet the infamous Pharrell. I just want to hear his dashing accent.

[2:00] Pharrell: Do I hear someone calling my name?

[2:03] Kitten: You startled me. Frenchie accent, you must be Pharrell.

[2:08] Pharrell: But of course. How many cavalier French cats do you know?

[2:13] Pharrell: Oh, but where are my manners? We must do introductions.

[2:18] Pharrell: My apologies. I forget everything when I'm in the breathtaking presence of the radiant kitten.

[2:26] Kitten: Hi, Pharrell. It was sure an unexpected surprise to see you last night. Let me introduce my friends. This here's Clucky.

[2:33] Clucky: Brock, howdy.

[2:34] Kitten: And these lovely hens are Bridget, Bella, and Brigitte.

[2:38] Pharrell: It's nice to meet you.

[2:40] Bridget: Hello.

[2:41] Bella: Cheerio, Pharrell.

[2:42] Pharrell: Ah, the pleasure is all mine. Any friend of kitten is sure to be a character of great respect.

[2:50] Clucky: Well, I'll be. I think I'm gonna like this Pharrell friend of yours, kitten.

[2:55] Pharrell: Ah, yes, kitten. How lovely it is to see Mon Amour again. I cannot believe after such a journey I have actually found you. My heart is bursting with joy beyond any words I can express.

[3:13] Clucky: Oh, boy, does he sing, too?

[3:18] Kitten: Meow, he does.

[3:20] Pharrell: I was searching, searching for you. Without you, the skies were so blue.

[3:29] Clucky: Wait, aren't blue skies a good thing?

[3:33] Pharrell: When you left, you took my heart. Without you, I fall apart.

[3:41] Kitten: Really, Pharrell, we don't know each other that well.

[3:45] Pharrell: My heart beats for you.

[3:50] Clucky: Kitten.

[3:52] Pharrell: Kitten!

[3:53] Clucky: Okay, that was nice.

[3:55] Pharrell: Oh, man, I was just getting into it.

[3:57] Kitten: Kitten. Kitten.

[4:00] Clucky: Oh, that is so much fun.

[4:02] Kitten: Uh-huh. So, Pharrell, how is it here in Washington and on our mountain?

[4:09] Pharrell: I am telling you, it must be fate that our worlds collide again. I left shortly after you and your family departed, intent on seeing you once more. I could never have imagined that you would be living up on this strange, wildly growing landscape. I miss roaming the city with the concrete and tall buildings and the streetlights.

[4:28] Pharrell: It is incredibly dark here at night.

[4:36] Kitten: Oh, yes, we never venture out at night here. It is eerily dark. You cannot even see your paw in front of your face. However, on the clear nights, I have never seen so many stars in my life.

[4:47] Pharrell: I like the nights when the moon is full because it brightens up the place a bit more. But with all this rain and clouds, it seems dark all the time.

[4:56] Kitten: So, how exactly did you get here and where are you living?

[5:01] Pharrell: Ah, Kitten, it is so heartwarming that you want to know about my adventure here. I know you must be surprised to see me, but do you not realize that it was your heart that brought me here?

[5:14] Kitten: Um, no. That seems rather impossible. How did you get here?

[5:18] Pharrell: Well, mes amis, please sit down, make yourself comfortable, and I will recall you with the story of Pharrell and his journey to Washington.

[5:30] Kitten: That sounds exciting.

[5:31] Pharrell: The tale starts after you left. My heart was broken, mon amour, and I longed for you. I have never felt such a strong connection to anyone before. I set out on the road almost immediately. I followed your car, but I was traveling too fast. I remember hearing your family say that it was not far to Washington where your new house would be. So, I started traveling down a lonely highway with only the memory of your beauty to guide me.

[6:05] Clucky: How did the beauty guide you? That sounds like some sort of superpower to me. Are you some sort of super cat?

[6:12] Pharrell: Oh, Clucky, you flatter me. You obviously have not experienced the power I've loved before.

[6:19] Clucky: Not enough to use it as a map.

[6:22] Pharrell: It feels as though an angel must have been helping me because not long after I was driving down this big road, a car suddenly pulled over and almost ran me over. It stopped just ahead of me. I was a bit frightened when a young boy got out of the car. He came towards me with his hands outstretched and said, "Here, kitty kitty, what are you doing out here on the road? This isn't safe for you."

[6:48] Clucky: Oh my, that does sound frightening. What happened next?

[7:02] Pharrell: He asked his mother if they could put me in the car. I was lying there, frightened, not knowing what to do. But then I saw there was a furry head peeking out from the car. I thought these people must like animals and be kind. And then I thought, oh la la, perhaps this is a better way to journey to see my kitty.

[7:23] Kitten: Oh, Pharrell, you should never get in cars with strangers.

[7:27] Pharrell: Oh, kitten, you fear for my safety. Your care for me makes my heart go pitter patter. But do not fear. These people were kind. They put me in the car where I met their big dog, very fluffy, black and white thing. It seemed loose fur like crazy. There was hair everywhere. You would think he would eventually run out, but he just had so much.

[7:54] Clucky: I'm cautious around strange dogs. Some that you meet on the street can be most aggressive, but this one seemed friendly enough. He gave a bark and howl of greeting. The little boy kept me in his lap and we started to drive.

[8:09] Kitten: Weren't you afraid of where you might end up? How'd you know where you're going?

[8:13] Pharrell: That is an excellent question. I did not think of these things when I was carried into the car. I was just happy to not be running on the stones and dirt on the side of the road. My paws were getting very tired and it was so hot on the cement. I thought I could just ride a while and rest my paws. Then to my amazement, I heard one of the other children asking how much longer it would be to get to Washington. So I knew I was going in the right direction. Fate was smiling down at me.

[8:43] Clucky: Pharrell, you're very lucky.

[8:46] Pharrell: Ah, but this car seems too good to be true. And soon I discovered that this family was a little bit... Comment dis-t-on? Unbalanced.

[8:57] Clucky: Unbalanced? How? Did they fall over a lot?

[9:01] Pharrell: No, no one fell over. We were all sitting in the car.

[9:04] Clucky: Oh, right.

[9:06] Pharrell: They really love music. All of them singing along, including the giant fur factory, seem to know other songs and sing along. His version was very... holy and out of tune. Then all of a sudden, one of the children shouted, "It's Farnado time!" I was very curious. I had not heard this term before. I did not know what to expect.

[9:31] Kitten: That sounds very ominous.

[9:33] Clucky: Obvious?

[9:33] Kitten: There's nothing obvious about a Farnado, Kitten.

[9:36] Pharrell: Not obvious, Clucky. Ominous. It means the feeling that something bad or unpleasant is about to happen.

[9:45] Clucky: It certainly does sound scary.

[9:47] Pharrell: So it sounds obviously ominous.

[9:49] Clucky: See what I did there?

[9:51] Pharrell: Oh, yes, I do. Obviously ominous. Very clever.

[9:56] Pharrell: It was one of the most frightening moments of my life. Suddenly, I could feel wind rushing into the car. They had lowered all of the windows in the car, creating a strong vortex of wind, swirling around and around. And then this wind was also a large amount of white fur flying through the air. I thought I would get sucked out of the car, and my fur was blowing all over the place. I thought for sure that one of my lives was definitely over.

[10:30] Kitten: Oh, that sounds like a tornado.

[10:33] Pharrell: Kitten, this is no time to talk about food. Can't believe I'm saying that. This sounds nothing like a tomato.

[10:39] Clucky: A tornado, Clucky.

[10:42] Kitten: Oh, what's a tornado?

[10:44] Pharrell: It's a weather phenomenon that usually happens in the Midwest. According to the National Weather Service, a tornado is a violently rotating column of air extending from the base of a thunderstorm down to the ground. Tornadoes are capable of completely destroying well-made structures, uprooting trees, and hurling objects through the air like deadly missiles. Tornadoes can occur at any time, day or night, and any time of the year. There's a section of the United States called Tornado Alley that runs through the middle of the country through several states.

[11:13] Kitten: We had thunderstorms in Florida, but we never had these tomato thingies.

[11:18] Clucky: Tornadoes?

[11:19] Pharrell: Actually, there are tornadoes in Florida as well as hurricanes. Sometimes a hurricane can cause tornadoes to occur right after the hurricane passes. There can also be tornadoes made with water. They are called water spouts and can develop over the water. They usually disappear once they hit land, though. And with global warming, more places are getting tornadoes that didn't get them before.

[11:39] Kitten: Can we get these tornadoes in Washington?

[11:42] Pharrell: Well, luckily, it's less common here. This area is not known to get many thunderstorms, so the likelihood of a tornado is pretty small. Also, with all the mountains and the trees, the winds cannot usually create the conditions right for a tornado. It is better to have flat, open space, like Kansas, Minnesota, and Iowa.

[11:59] Clucky: Kitten, you are a treasure trove of knowledge. You are not only beautiful, but also très intelligent. I am humbled by what an amazing feline you are.

[12:11] Kitten: Oh, Frel, you're embarrassing me. I just like to read, and Maddox and I do that a lot. It's so fascinating to read new things.

[12:18] Clucky: So, did you get stuck in this tomato- I mean, tornado?

[12:22] Pharrell: No, the young boy held on to me very tightly, but I feared for my life. The people in the car were just laughing and shouting, "Tornado! Tornado! This is so much fun!"

[12:30] Kitten: Why were they yelling tornado?

[12:36] Pharrell: Oh, that is because of their giant furry dog. His hair seemed to be everywhere. And when they opened the windows, the wind seemed to gather it all up and swirl it around the car. I could not wait to get out of this car. They finally closed all the windows and the wind stopped swirling, but I must have looked like a disheveled cat. I saw my reflection in a mirror in the car, and my fur was all over the place. I spent some time trying to make myself presentable again. I am certain I got a hairball because of this nonsense.

[13:09] Kitten: How long did you ride with this family?

[13:11] Pharrell: It felt like an eternity. I traveled across the country from my native Montreal, and I did not feel as long as this car ride with this strange family.

[13:22] Kitten: You're from where? Montreal?

[13:25] Pharrell: Montreal. It is a city in Canada. It's in the French-speaking part of Canada.

[13:32] Kitten: You're Canadian?

[13:37] Pharrell: Well, I don't have a passport, but I was born there, so I guess, yes, I am Canadian. True north, strong and free, and poutine is fantastic.

[13:48] Clucky: What's poutine?

[13:49] Pharrell: Poutine. It is a famous dish in Canada. It is French fries with gravy and cheese curds. Especially the gravy is so tasty.

[13:56] Clucky: You had me at French fries.

[14:02] Pharrell: When I was in Canada, I would rarely find traces of it in the dumpsters, but when I did, oh, it was magnifique. I've tried to recreate it here, but the Americans don't use cheese curds that often, and the gravy is not quite the same. But I digress.

[14:19] Kitten: Oh, excuse you.

[14:20] Pharrell: Excusez-moi?

[14:22] Kitten: I thought you burped because you said, I digest.

[14:25] Pharrell: No, he said, digress. It means he got off topic.

[14:29] Clucky: Oh, I digress all the time. You and I, you see this growing connection, and how we just understand each other, no?

[14:39] Feral: No, we just have a good vocabulary, but we hardly ever finish each other's...

[14:45] Kitten: SENTENCES!

[14:47] Feral: Meow. Alright, but I must continue before it gets dark. Now where was I?

[14:53] Kitten: You had just survived the fornado.

[14:56] Feral: Ah yes, I made my escape from the freaky fornado family at the next town they stopped. After that, I wandered on my own for a while. I would rest my weary paws from time to time and find food in dumpsters along the way. I cannot remember how long I was traveling on my own. Like this was only my longing to find my kitten to motivate me to carry on. I was searching, searching for you.

[15:24] Kitten: Oh no, we're not doing that again.

[15:26] Feral: You warned me, kitten.

[15:28] Kitten: Aw man, he's a good singer.

[15:30] Feral: Songs are fun.

[15:31] Kitten: I love Feral's singing voice.

[15:33] Feral: Thanks for stopping that. Back to my journey. Finalement, I happened to discover a train yard.

[15:41] Kitten: A train yard? What were you doing in a train yard?

[15:45] Clucky: What is a train yard?

[15:48] Feral: Sacrebleu, you do not know what a train yard is.

[15:51] Kitten: I know what a train is, but I've never heard of a train yard.

[15:55] Feral: A train yard is where the people store train cars that are waiting to be assembled into trains. There are lots of different tracks and one must step very carefully because so many things are moving.

[16:06] Kitten: Thank you for explaining that.

[16:08] Feral: Pas de problème. Were you scared to be there?

[16:11] Kitten: No, not at all. I traveled by train from Montreal for a good portion of the time. It is quite a nice way to travel. There is something very comforting about the rhythm of the tracks.

[16:23] Feral: Ka-chunk, ka-chunk, ka-chunk, ka-chunk. It reminds me of the strong beating of a heart and of course my affection for kitten.

[16:32] Kitten: I've never been on a train before. That sounds exciting.

[16:36] Clucky: What kind of trains did you find?

[16:38] Feral: This was a freight train yard. Those are the big boxy cars designed to carry all sorts of things. I have also been on passenger rail which is made of cars and seats and beds for people. But for a cat out on adventure, there is something so much more romantic about a freight train. Looking out over the quiet evenings with only the rhythmic sound of the train and the moonlight shining down over you.

[17:03] Kitten: Yes, it is quite romantic indeed.

[17:06] Feral: Oh kitten, the night I dreamed about our next encounter.

[17:11] Kitten: How romantic.

[17:15] Feral: How long were you on this train? It already sounds like you've been traveling a really long time.

[17:21] Clucky: Clucky has a point, Feral. How long had you been traveling when you got on the train?

[17:25] Feral: I do not know but I had a bit of a problem.

[17:28] Kitten: Problem? What kind of problem?

[17:30] Clucky: Oh, I don't like the sound of problems.

[17:33] Kitten: I don't like the sound of the train or the problems.

[17:36] Clucky: I don't like the whole idea of unknown adventure.

[17:39] Feral: I got on a train but it seemed to be traveling the wrong direction. And it took me some time before I figured out I was heading to California.

[17:48] Kitten: California? That's two states away in the wrong direction.

[17:52] Feral: It was a few days before I realized my error and got on a different train. I must have been on the down train because I found a beautiful yellow train called Up that went the right way. Up North is the direction I should have been traveling.

[18:07] Clucky: That must have been a Union Pacific train.

[18:10] Feral: Oh Kitten, is there anything you do not know? Incredible cats as you are.

[18:16] Kitten: I think I remember seeing one of those yellow trains when the mom person was driving me down to the vet one time. I saw it in town near the paper mill.

[18:24] Clucky: I'm confused. If I remember right, we weren't that far from Washington when we were at the motel where you met Kitten. We drove the next day and in a few hours we arrived at the house.

[18:35] Kitten: Why has it taken you so long, Feral?

[18:38] Feral: Ah yes, but you went by car and your people knew the way. I traveled by cat with only my heart to guide me. It is less direct and takes a bit longer. I also don't read directions well and you end up in places that may be faster than you had planned. Traveling by cat is much more unpredictable. But there is still more to my story.

[19:02] Kitten: There's more? This is an epic journey.

[19:05] Clucky: So what happened after the train fiasco?

[19:08] Feral: The up train was so much better. I was in a boxcar.

[19:12] Kitten: Oh, was it full of children?

[19:14] Feral: No, why do you ask?

[19:16] Kitten: There's a wonderful book series called Boxcar Children. I was hoping it might be based on a true story.

[19:21] Feral: No, there were no children. Was the car shaped like a box?

[19:26] Kitten: Not exactly. It is a type of train car. There are several kinds. I traveled in the auto car for a little while where they transport cars. But this car has holes in the walls so it got a bit chilly so I moved to a different car. There are also grain cars.

[19:42] Clucky: I think I heard some train people also call them upper cars.

[19:46] Feral: Strange, they don't hop. The other problem I had with the other train was my foot slipped on a lever as I was traveling from train to train and I discovered that I had opened a door in the bottom of the upper car and the grain started to empty out onto the tracks.

[20:02] Kitten: You started draining a hopper car?

[20:05] Feral: Oui, it would appear so. It was an accident. I quickly ran to another car running on top of the train going by several tank cars.

[20:14] Clucky: Was it a military train?

[20:16] Feral: No.

[20:17] Clucky: But you said it had tank cars. Aren't tanks from the military?

[20:21] Feral: Not that kind of tank, Clucky. Storage tanks. These types of round cars carry liquids like oil.

[20:27] Kitten: That sounds like a lot of liquid to be transporting around.

[20:30] Feral: Trains are an important mode of transport for freight. There are many other specialty cars that carry goods and raw materials. There's a lot of timber cars in our state.

[20:38] Kitten: Timber?

[20:39] Feral: Yes, large trees that have been cut down.

[20:42] Kitten: Yes, the smell of fresh cut timber was quite nice. I enjoyed sitting on those cars for part of my journey. But after the grain car incident, the train stopped and that's when I realized I was in California.

[20:55] Clucky: So perhaps it was a good accident after all.

[20:58] Feral: If I had not made this mistake, it would have taken me even longer to get here. On the next train, I had a fun surprise. I found myself in a boxcar and I was looking as a freight. Lots of boxes stacked on top of each other and all listed as cat toys. I sliced open a box and inside I found hundreds of cat balls and stuffed mice. I batted these toys around for a long time to occupy my time while on the train.

[21:26] Kitten: So when did you know to get off the train?

[21:29] Feral: At the next train yard, I was out exploring and waiting for the train to leave when a man picked me up. I was afraid I was in for some more fornado, but he put me in a box, gave me a nice can of fish, and the next thing I knew, I was in what they call a pound.

[21:45] Clucky: Hey, Kitten, you were in a pound too, right before Maddox adopted you.

[21:49] Kitten: You and Feral have lots in common.

[21:52] Feral: Hardly, Clucky. I mean, being in a pound is not really that unique. There are lots of animals in shelters and they arrive in many different ways. Kitten, how did you end up in that shelter?

[22:04] Feral: You just heard about how we came to the Daniels family and we know you were adopted, but how did you end up at the shelter?

[22:10] Kitten: Feral was taken there by a strange man in a train yard.

[22:13] Feral: Were you ever in a train yard?

[22:15] Kitten: No, I was lost in a swamp, but that's a story for another time. Let's hear the rest of Feral's story before it gets dark. He needs to get home.

[22:23] Feral: So, the shelter?

[22:25] Kitten: Oh, mon chéri, I'm so sad to hear you suffered in those barbaric cages at the shelter. I would never wish that on my worst enemy, let alone my greatest love.

[22:37] Feral: It was cold and loud, but I've put it behind me. Such a brave kitten! I don't know how long I was there for. I started to scratch a mark on each day on the wall of my cage, but then they moved me from one cage to another and I lost track of my days. The only good thing was that I was being fed, but after having the freedom that I did for so long, this captivity was frustrating. But there was one day that a young woman came to the shelter and she spent a long time talking to me and stalking me. And all of a sudden, I was being packed into a portable cage. She took me outside and stocked my carrier on the back of a motorbike. I could feel the wind in my face and enjoy the fresh air again.

[23:22] Kitten: It was a lot of wind, but nothing like the tornado.

[23:26] Feral: She brought me to her home, which is not so far from here. I live in her barn and I think she wants me to catch rodents. I don't like rodents. They are disgusting creatures, so I chase them away and I hope that is good enough.

[23:40] Kitten: So you live there? Don't you miss your great adventures and the freedom that you had?

[23:45] Feral: Oh, kitten, the plan was to stay only for a short time and then move on to find you. But here you are. You have come to me.

[23:54] Kitten: Meow, I would not say it that way.

[23:56] Feral: What's that sound? Kitten, it sounds like it's coming from you.

[24:01] Feral: It is this maddening box around my neck.

[24:04] Kitten: Oh, is that a GPS tracker?

[24:06] Feral: I don't know what it is, but every time I think about running away or hiding somewhere, it starts beeping and then the woman comes and finds me every time. I don't know how she does it. I have tried to take it off, but it is impossible. She comes and finds me and brings me back to the barn. My freedom is completely lost forever, but now that I have found you, kitten, I no longer need to be free. Our hearts can be joined as one. We shall roam the mountain together, make beautiful music while we bask in the moonlight, and whisper sweet nothings to each other. It is perfect, no?

[24:45] Kitten: Meow, I don't like going out at night. I think it's far too dark here and there are far too many predators.

[24:53] Clucky: She's right, Feral. You shouldn't be out at night at all. There are cuckoos and coyotes and bears and birds that prey like eagles.

[25:01] Kitten: Don't forget about the Billcats.

[25:03] Clucky: Bobcats. Do they prefer to go by Bob?

[25:06] Kitten: No, they're just called Bobcats, not Billcats.

[25:09] Clucky: Maybe they'd like to be called Ted or Kevin.

[25:12] Kitten: Why do they all have the same name?

[25:14] Clucky: I think their friends and family might find that really confusing.

[25:17] Feral: Oh, Clucky. This collar needs to go. I need to be able to see you when my heart desires, kitten. I should go now before she comes to find me. It would be far too embarrassing for her to pick me up and carry me away from you, kitten. We are together now. I feel my heart beating in rhythm to yours. I shall come and visit you again very soon, perhaps on a day when it is not raining.

[25:45] Kitten: You haven't been here that long because lately it never stops raining.

[25:50] Feral: Perhaps you are right. What is a little bit of water when I can see mon chéri?

[25:57] Kitten: It's been nice seeing you again, Feral, but I don't love to be out in the rain.

[26:01] Feral: I guess we'll see you around if you're living up here.

[26:05] Feral: Count on it, mon petit bijou. I will see you again soon. And au revoir, new poulet friends.
