I'd gotten the suitcase out to pack for another trip, and it was lying on the bedroom floor. I walked in the closet to get some clothes to pack, and Jack went over to the suitcase and was sniffing it. When I came back out of the closet with an armload of clothes, he looked right at me and he lifted his leg and peed all over the suitcase.

[7:10] Mom: No, don't you remember? He would growl at her if she came near his food or his chew bone. Also, Dad has that silly picture of Jack curled up in her dog bed.

[7:15] Maddox: Oh, yeah, that picture is so funny. Rosie's bed was so much smaller than Jack's bed. He had his back half curled up on the side of the bed and the other half hanging off on the tile floor.

[7:27] Mom: Yeah, and the look on his face is like, what are you looking at? I totally fit in this bed. I remember that. He told me that both beds were his. When I asked why he did not fit in the smaller one, he told me it was a special dog yoga pillow to help him with his curled up dog pose.

[7:49] Maddox: That's a big sigh, Rosie. Do you remember that? I'm glad Jack warmed up to you after that. Just a week later, I have another picture of the two of them curled up in Jack's big bed together. Jack loved us all very much. He was always looking out for all of us.

[8:14] Mom: Oh, yeah. When you were little, probably like six months, you couldn't even crawl yet. I had set you on the floor and propped you up in a boppy pillow. You giggled because I'm pretty sure his whiskers tickled your face, and when you reached up, you grabbed a hold of his beard. Jack did not know what to do. He did not want to hurt you, but he also did not want you pulling on his whiskers. He looked at me and whined. He was probably thinking, get this little thing off me.

[8:54] Mom: I reached over and gently removed Maddox's hand from his beard.

[9:01] Mom: Once he was free, he backed up out of your reach. Then he gave you a lick on the back of your head where he was sure your little arms couldn't reach him. He wanted you to know that he still liked you, but he also wanted to be sure that you wouldn't be able to grab him again.

[9:17] Mom: Not that I recall. However, when you came along, we'd have stopped taking Jack to dog parks with you kids for a while.

[9:29] Mom: A dog park is a big fenced yard set up so you can take your dogs off leash and let them run around with other dogs.
