[1:05] David: Oh my goodness. So I woke up from a nap Easter weekend and it was to David barging into the room saying apply for the show.

[1:11] Avery: Well, because I follow casting producers, casting directors, all sorts of people. And we saw a call for dynamic duos and she was like about to be done with school. And I have been waiting for like the day that something would feel right. And that felt right. And I DM'ed Jocelyn. Love Jocelyn. And I was like, hey, I think we'd be a good fit. Like here's a little bit about our story. And she was like, yes.

[1:39] David: Wow. She sent me the application. She said, put my name and my assistant's name on there. She goes, well, you guys better put both. And then we, I woke her up and I said, get ready, apply.

[1:45] Tommy Bracco: But did you talk about doing a reality show together before? Because you, you love reality TV, but do you love reality TV?

[1:50] Avery: Yeah, no, that's what I thought. I love you.

[1:52] David: Yeah. It was definitely, it was something I would always do if it helped him get where he wanted to be with that area.

[1:58] Avery: Yes. And my parents were scared of us ever doing anything together because they thought I would literally kill her. Like if she like lost something.

[2:05] David: Oh, they were like, we don't.

[2:07] Avery: Which is why this kind of works out perfectly because it's an individual game, but there we are together.

[2:49] David: Yeah. It wasn't stressful at all. And that was something I was worried about. Cause I was like, do they want me to be a certain way? They really wanted us as us. And I think the greatest part about that is that everyone comes as themselves and there's a hundred people. You have so many different kinds of personalities there.

[3:05] Avery: And so for us to be like the dynamic, like sibling duo, we also have Richie and Gianna. Shout out them. Love them.

[3:11] David: Yes. But just like, it was so cool just to be able to just go on as ourselves.

[3:48] Julian: Okay. So I've always watched like reality shows, but this one was just like a little bit different because it kind of just fell in our lap. Someone reached out to us and wanted us to apply.

[3:58] Julian: Wow. So, but was it someone that you had like been in a process with before for a different show or no, it was a cold reach out.

[4:05] Aggie: Wow. It was a cold reach out. So, you know, we had applied for, um, other reality shows before, like it was the amazing race at one point and we had made it so far and we thought we were going to get it and we just ended up not getting it.

[4:16] Julian: And that one didn't work. And then it was literally within weeks, this one just happened.

[4:20] Aggie: Wow. I'm like, this is a miracle. Let's apply. And then the process just started and it seemed like it was meant to be.

[4:28] Julian: Yeah. People that we interacted with, we also met Jocelyn through the process.

[4:32] Aggie: Okay. Um, and Alex, love him down like a bad habit. Alex is great. Amazing. Yes. And Jocelyn, when we met with her, she was just absolutely amazing.

[4:41] Julian: And I was like, wow. It's almost like you are meant to be trying out for the amazing race to even just prep you on how these interviews go and just what to expect. So that way you're not as like, I don't know, like caught off guard, maybe even a little nervous when you actually need, when it was your turn, when it was your opportunity for 99 to beat.

[4:59] Aggie: Yeah. So it's like it, everything does happen for a reason in that sense. Like you said, like it, you know, it's probably great that you got that opportunity to even try out and just be in the process beforehand.

[5:09] Julian: So, you know, meeting with Jocelyn, it was like, well, this seems like maybe it's meant to be. And then, I mean, going to 99 to beat and then meeting with all you guys, I mean, it was meant to be.

[5:18] Aggie: Yeah. Here we are. Day one too.

[5:21] Aggie: Yeah. That's the crazy part. So we're all like super close and like we're like each other's like crew and it happened right away.

[9:05] Julian: And your body just, it stops sometimes.

[9:08] Avery: Yeah. You just don't react. It's like fight or freeze kind of a little bit.

[9:12] Julian: I did not have that problem. I was not nervous one bit.

[9:15] Avery: I just could not get the six pasta on there.

[9:18] Julian: I tried everything I could think of. You all saw my positions, which were not normal.

[9:23] Avery: None of them were normal.

[9:25] Julian: They were all perfect.

[9:29] Julian: When there's all six of them lined up, I could see the hole.

[9:32] Avery: I'm going to say down smaller.

[9:34] Julian: I couldn't find the hole.

[9:36] Avery: I'm going to say you are nervous and you're, you're, you're not.

[9:39] Julian: I didn't feel nervous.

[9:41] Avery: Then why couldn't you adjust in the moment?

[9:48] Avery: Yeah. So you weren't like, you're going to tell me you were not nervous when people were starting to go and get out.

[11:30] Aggie: Then how did you not figure it? Like, then how did you say like, okay? I gotta go to game plan. Me said when you said don't give up. I looked at you, I nodded and get five right away, and it's when I almost got on. I don't know what you're talking about.

[11:45] Julian: Your face looked, your eyes had a look of fear in them.

[11:48] Aggie: Yes. I yeah, I was concentrating, okay.

[11:57] Aggie: Adding on to what we're saying about the lights, the sound, everything, people yelling.

[12:02] Julian: Yeah, it stresses you even more to start hearing people say other people's names.

[12:06] Aggie: Yeah, yeah, and when you start to hear people say your name, you know you're near the bottom.

[12:10] Julian: Yeah, you know, then you start to freak out even more.

[12:16] Aggie: Yeah, I don't know what to do.

[12:18] Julian: Yeah, I tunnel vision so hard every single time except for the ice challenge. I did turn around because I was kind of near the middle bottom-ish, I think for the ice challenge, and I remember turning around because David was already through. I turned around and I hear him just screaming.

[12:35] Aggie: I was yelling at you, Tommy, and Luigi.

[12:40] Julian: Yeah, yeah, I was towards the bottom for that one, too. You guys were all near each other.

[12:45] Aggie: Yeah, there's a moment. I remember all three of you turning around.

[12:48] Julian: Yes.

[12:51] Aggie: But right, yeah, yeah, I think like you said, like I would think I would have gotten in the swing of things. I do feel like after a while I got into the swing of things a little bit. I don't know if you all feel the same way.

[13:04] Aggie: Like that like paralyzation, is that a word? How is it paralysis?

[13:08] Julian: Whatever it is, like you start to know how to deal with that a little bit more.

[13:12] Aggie: So, yeah, you can think on the fly. Like I think what I'm saying is I didn't know like, okay, it's not working. I have to adjust. I have to use my mouth. I have to use my spit.

[13:22] Julian: Yeah, and I think like I couldn't in that moment think of it. I don't know because I think I was just so nervous still.

[13:29] Aggie: Yeah, it's still so fresh.

[13:41] Aggie: How is like everyone else's experience mentally? Like I feel like I've talked about how I really struggled. Am I alone?

[13:43] David: You were at the pub, so you should be told.

[13:47] Aggie: I feel like I, because at those first few days, I didn't do that.

[13:52] David: Yeah, I couldn't sleep because like I okay. I had no way of like decompressing.

[13:56] Aggie: Yeah, so I started to go to the pub whether I just sit there for 10 minutes talking to people. Like it just started to like, it was like, oh my gosh, you're a person. You're not just someone I'm competing against.

[14:06] David: And it was nice to like be able to sit there and laugh with those people and I quickly noticed.

[14:10] Aggie: Yeah, it just started to make my mood better.

[14:12] David: We were people.

[14:16] Aggie: Yeah, just this like arena.

[14:19] David: Those first few days we like would do it and then everyone go to bed.

[14:22] Aggie: Yes, everyone was like straight to their rooms. They were just like there was no reset.

[14:28] David: Yes, totally. I mean some people went back to their room and went to bed because their bodies were beat up like me.

[14:36] Aggie: I wish I was able to do that. I couldn't sleep, but I like a baby.

[14:40] David: That's great because I mean I'm a wrestler and yeah, I thought physically I would, this would be a cake.

[14:49] Aggie: But you see me in the water bucket challenge and I'm bent over and my back starting to hurt, my legs are starting to hurt. Yep. My knees are starting to hurt. I'm aching all over.

[15:00] David: I mean, I can only imagine how much Janice was aching.

[15:06] Aggie: Oh, let me tell you, Geraldine and Maddie, the room that woman on the floor.

[15:19] Julian: I know you're right.

[15:25] Aggie: Yeah, it's a million dollars.

[15:28] Julian: Oh, and watching it back though, I thought that she got pushed.

[15:32] Aggie: It looks like she tripped over them.

[15:44] Aggie: Yes, that was the moment that we all kind of took a breath away. Oh, this is real. I remember that, the feeling in the room and I have, oh, this is a word plan.

[16:01] Julian: I don't know because that was the first team elimination, the first team competition, and it wiped out 12 people.

[16:08] Aggie: Yeah, like, and that's something that's just like really scary. I feel like for y'all to be looking at it be like that could have been me.

[16:14] Julian: I mean, especially you, Julian, because you were.

[16:19] Aggie: Yeah, yeah.

[16:25] Julian: I just don't get like you saw about adjusting. Nobody was adjusting in your team.

[16:34] Julian: Can you back up a little bit? Can you like dish it out? Like tell you feel what are the emotions that you went through?

[16:39] Julian: I think it's just I'm someone who grew up playing sports. I mean both Dave and I are super competitive. Yeah, we're also very big team players. So if we're in the team, we're gonna do everything we possibly can to the best of our abilities.

[16:45] David: Yeah, I feel like I left it out there and unfortunately my team couldn't adjust like you were saying.

[16:50] Julian: Yeah, the stress got to them immensely.

[16:52] Aggie: Okay, immensely. And kind of can I talk about behind the scenes of how, okay, so the bottom two to the first two heats that you saw, bottom two heats were filmed one day, end of the first day of filming, first day filming.

[17:12] Julian: Yes. Then we slept on it and woke up the morning after to film the final round of the water bucket challenge. So not only was my team complaining about being sore, not all of them, but some of them, and then other people were talking about how it just added so much more stress because they slept on it.

[17:26] Aggie: Really?

[17:27] Julian: So they just wouldn't be able to lock in mentally and I woke y'all with my throat hurting and sore. Remember my voice was gone. I was walking to the studio knowing that it was most likely gonna be my last day because I knew my team couldn't lock in.

[17:45] Aggie: And it just unfortunately was a luck of the draw. It was a randomized decision.

[17:48] Julian: Yes, we pulled colors to, yeah, the teams. So it was something that we couldn't control as much as I could support these people and tell them, hey, there's a million dollars. You can lead a horse to water, can't force him to drink, and unfortunately, that's just how it played out.

[18:02] Aggie: And I will say when Julian's team came in, I actually heard them adjusting.

[18:09] Julian: Oh, yeah, we got to do this. We got to do this a little differently and I was like, oh, that's actually, you got to do, you gotta.

[18:13] Aggie: Yeah, I know unlike me when I couldn't adjust on the fly either. It's just a honest, just comes down if you can deal with the stress because if you can't have that tough mentality, then you're gonna, it's gonna show.

[18:24] Julian: Yeah, like, yeah.

[18:31] Aggie: One way or the other, either you're gonna lose or be in the bottom, yeah, or you're just gonna struggle a lot.

[18:36] David: Well, the good news is when you're on the bottom and long as you win, you get more airtime.

[18:47] Aggie: You know, the funny thing is when he yelled at me, use the table right to steady your spaghetti.

[19:53] Julian: The stakes were so high, so like, yeah, I thought I was coming to do like this fun cute show with my dad and then he's gone right away and I'm like, oh my gosh, by myself.

[20:09] Julian: Yeah, but you weren't like competing anymore, was hard. It was different when Aggie told me about this show. There's a UK version.

[20:16] Aggie: Yes, we watched the UK version on YouTube. I think we all did.

[20:20] Julian: Yeah, I watched it multiple times because I was just trying to get ready.

[20:23] Aggie: Yeah, and I was like, wow, these games are ridiculous. Is this gonna be really what we're gonna do? Because I don't really watch game shows, I'm like Avery.

[20:36] Julian: But I was like, is it gonna be this ridiculous? But when you went in there, it looked like the Hunger Games.

[20:43] Aggie: Yeah, and you had lights, camera, action and all this stuff and you know, the drones flying over you and cameras going wild and I mean.

[20:56] Julian: Our referees.

[20:59] Aggie: Their British accents.

[21:06] Julian: Yeah, it felt intimidating.

[21:06] Aggie: Yeah, it's scary.

[21:13] Julian: Are those British?

[21:14] Aggie: It made a game like rubbing ice on your body, which sounds silly. It literally was like horrified.

[21:18] Julian: Yes.

[21:21] Aggie: Intensified it to such an extremity that I don't think any of us were prepared for.

[21:27] Julian: I love that one.

[21:27] Aggie: I did so well.

[21:29] Julian: So well on that, I was like, this is gonna be great. I love this.

[21:34] Aggie: I did love the ice. So for everybody, would it have been as fun going in if it was worth a hundred thousand dollars?

[21:39] Julian: We're diverse is the million dollars. So I, if you listen to my exit and I don't, they showed it, but they asked me about that and I go, I didn't know about a million dollars. I came here for a hundred thousand and do something with my son and then mission accomplished. That's what I did.

[21:46] Aggie: Yeah, you know, you threw a million in which is great, but yeah, it didn't happen to me. So we all came thinking it's a hundred thousand, so like that's kind of we all like agreed to that. I think we would have been more giggly and jokey about all of the games if it stayed a hundred thousand.

[22:03] Julian: Yes, you could sense the atmosphere shifts whenever they said the million.

[22:06] Aggie: Yeah.

[22:13] Julian: Yep, and that's right like the first time I look like everyone kind of sighs each other up.

[22:19] Aggie: Yeah, to be all these people to win a million dollars.

[22:24] Julian: Yeah, because I don't know, it's a million dollars, it feels a lot closer than a lottery ticket when you have an.

[24:20] Julian: What's really nice, I feel like this isn't giving anything away. When they leave, we lock in and essentially it becomes a duo, a duo. And then Luigi and Tori were also with them. And Danny, too. Yeah. Yeah. But we all kind of had our... It worked. Danny would work with Ron and David R.

[24:40] Aggie: David R. That's who I was... David R. Yeah. So she had her people, too. And Luigi and Tori would kind of make it happen. Yep. Yeah. So it was nice, like, to see the chemistry, like how everyone just... It really clicked. It really did. And it made it fun. It made it like a great experience.

[24:59] Julian: Yeah. That like the people... Oh my gosh. I mean, if you thought episode one was great, episode two is gonna... I can't wait to watch it. Now I know, I don't know a lot of stuff, right? So I can't wait to watch it. And that episode, I'm gonna be so excited. And I knew everybody.

[25:16] Aggie: Yeah. So now I really get excited by watching it. Yes, that's what I'm excited for. Just to cheer everyone else on that's still there. Yeah. Because I mean, we got updates when I was back home. But I mean, we heard stories, we heard about what happened. I'm just excited to see what they keep also after edits. So yeah, it's gonna be so cool.

[26:03] Aggie: So much happens. But with 100 contestants, you just got to keep it moving. It's very fast paced, the edit, which is to be expected.

[26:14] Phil: I do have a question for y'all, because y'all are still in. Are you guys nervous to see the second episode? Or is there any episodes that you think that you're just gonna feel some type of way? What are y'all's thoughts of just like seeing yourselves continuing on?

[26:29] Julian: Well, it's hard to talk about a lot of the later ones, because we don't want to say where we... Yeah, I don't want...

[26:36] Aggie: But just knowing y'all have more episodes of potentially y'all being on.

[26:39] Julian: Yeah. There's honestly nothing I'm nervous about. It was great. It was so much fun. And what happened was meant to happen. And that's it. That's all we could say and do.

[26:52] Aggie: You know what I'm very excited for it from a viewer standpoint, purely, I think that the episodes are going to get better as it goes on. Because with less contestants, you're going to be able to focus on people's stories more. So I do think that just structurally wise, it's going to be more just, I don't know, like more compelling to follow. So I'm excited for that for the show itself. I think that'll be good. [28:58] Aggie: Yeah. He just leads his life with so much gratitude. I say this time and time again, but I just... It's true.

[29:04] Aggie: It's true. He's so positive and we all saw it on the show too, right?

[29:08] Aggie: But he just was rooting us on all the time. Comes out like right before we're about to film and it's just joking with all of us, you know, just being so fun and funny and lighthearted and so positive.

[29:20] Julian: Yep.

[29:21] Aggie: You can't help but just like smile.

[29:23] Julian: And their chemistry was off the charts too.

[29:25] Aggie: Perfect. Oh, yeah.

[29:26] Julian: They're such good buddies. In between takes too. I loved watching them in between takes.

[29:33] Aggie: They're just... They're great.

[29:35] Julian: Up there laughing and making jokes.

[29:37] Aggie: Yep.

[29:37] Julian: They're not flipping at all. They're just making jokes.

[29:40] Aggie: Just having fun.

[29:40] Julian: Yeah.

[29:41] Aggie: Conversations.

[29:42] Julian: But then it would flip and any of the heartbreaking moments, they felt it with you.

[29:46] Aggie: Yeah.

[29:47] Julian: You could see that they were... It wasn't like, ha, ha, they lost.

[29:50] Aggie: Yeah.

[29:50] Julian: Ha, ha, ha. It was like, wow, they cared about each of us.

[29:53] Aggie: Yep.

[29:54] Julian: Every single one of us. And he really makes that known when he reposts all of our things or comments on our things, likes our things. He truly does see every single one of us.

[30:04] Aggie: Yeah.

[30:05] Julian: And that's what makes him so special. He really is a one-of-a-kind champ.

[30:08] Aggie: Yeah.

[30:09] Julian: So, I mean, he listened to our podcast, reached out and said, amazing job, Aggie and Danny. I'm so proud of you guys. And that means a lot coming from him.

[30:19] Aggie: From freaking Ken Jeong. He really is.

I've had some great moments with Erin too, where she's stepped up and just, I don't know, offered personal advice in a moment that I needed it. And it was, so the two of them together are, the chemistry is unmatched, the dream team. And it's their show. And in some ways, it's almost like they got to watch the show before any of the rest of the world, because they're watching it play out in real time and reacting in real time.

[30:52] Aggie: They're like the only people that saw every moment of everything.

[31:09] Aggie: It's fine. So we did like a family edition of 99 to Beat where we played some games at home.

[31:15] Julian: Yeah. And I came in first in the pasta challenge.

[31:20] Aggie: And you want to say that you weren't nervous that day?

[31:23] Julian: No.

[31:24] Aggie: Then why were you able to do it here? Because you practiced?

[31:30] Julian: Angelica actually gave me a tip once.

[31:32] Aggie: Oh, what was her tip?

[31:34] Julian: Put the spaghetti under your tongue and it steadies it.

[31:38] Aggie: Steady your spaghetti.

[31:39] Julian: I had it in my mouth and it was going like this, up and down, up and down. I couldn't stop it.

[31:43] Aggie: You know, I tried the under the tongue and it didn't work for me.

[31:45] Julian: It didn't work for me either.

[31:46] Aggie: Yeah.

[31:46] Julian: It was like going for the wrong.

[31:48] Aggie: It worked for you?

[31:49] Julian: It worked for me too.

[31:50] Aggie: Yeah. I just sat on the tongue and like, I mean, really tight.

[31:55] Julian: I had to put it in between. I put my tongue to the roof of my mouth. I pressed it.

[32:01] Julian: Yeah.

[32:01] Aggie: I might've used my teeth. So the hardest thing.

[32:04] Julian: I tried putting it in between my teeth. I did. It wasn't working.

[32:08] Aggie: I was like.

[32:11] Julian: So the hardest thing to do during these challenges in these games is when you go in there with a plan, you have to learn how to change it on the floor.

[32:19] Aggie: Yep.

[32:20] Julian: Really quickly.

[32:21] Aggie: Exactly.

[32:21] Julian: Because time matters.

[32:23] Aggie: Oh yeah.

[32:24] Julian: And when people start running and getting done really, really quickly, that pressure then goes on a little bit more.

[32:30] Aggie: Yep.

[32:30] Julian: And it intensifies every step of the way.

[32:33] Aggie: And if you can't adjust really quick, oh my goodness, you're out of luck.

[32:36] Julian: You're going to get left behind.

[32:37] Aggie: You're done.

[32:39] Julian: You're going to finish last.

[32:40] Aggie: Yeah. And the thing was, what I was trying to say was I was trying to be Ken and I was not able to keep up with you guys. It was, it was really tough.

[32:49] Julian: Oh, when you were watching downstairs.

[32:51] Phil: Yeah. The family edition one.

[32:53] Aggie: And I was like, oh no, oh boy. Okay.
