I still can't believe I had the opportunity to share even a minute with this person, let alone record it and share it all with you. [1:53] Robert Peterpaul: In this wickedly wonderful episode—fun fact, today is the 20-year anniversary of Wicked on Broadway, whoo!—we're going to stir the cauldron of kindness and serve you up some ghoulishly good clips from the red—I mean, green carpet.

[2:08] Robert Peterpaul: I had the most festive time attending two green carpets in New York City this spooky season. The first was with my friend J. Armstrong Johnson—go back and listen to his episode if you haven't already—who produces Broadway's epic benefit spooktacular, I Put a Spell on You, The Witch's Era.

[2:26] Robert Peterpaul: Together with his team—shout out, Katie—they raised a whopping $150,000 for the Ali Forney Center, which is simply amazing. If you didn't catch the show, which is led by the Sanderson sisters themselves, no need to fear! [2:50] Robert Peterpaul: Speaking of the Sanderson sisters, the original HSIC—head Sanderson in charge—Bette Midler brought her epic Halloween celebration back to New York City this year through her outstanding organization, New York Restoration Project.

[3:05] Robert Peterpaul: NYRP believes nature is a fundamental human right and works toward a greener city, hence the green carpet. I had the good fortune of hosting on that green carpet, and let me tell y'all, it was a treat!

[3:19] Robert Peterpaul: This year's theme was Once Upon a Hulaween—Scary Tales and Dead Time Stories. They take it very seriously. They send you a lookbook so you can get inspired. I also take a theme seriously, so of course I wanted to be on theme.

[3:34] Robert Peterpaul: Now, the costume I had planned for Halloween was not really on theme. It also was not SAG-AFTRA approved with the strike. You know, apparently we can't dress up as anything from Union Films or shows. So I had to pivot. I thought, you know what? I'm gonna embody my podcast, and I'm gonna be the Kindness Fairy!

[4:10] Robert Peterpaul: The event was held at the luxurious Casa Cipriani, which is housed in the historic Battery Maritime Building on the water in Lower Manhattan. Needless to say, this location was breathtaking. I mean, please, sprinkle my ashes there! Sorry, I got a little morbid, but it's Halloween after all.

[4:29] Robert Peterpaul: From start to finish, this evening was glorious! People did not come to play with their costumes. Seriously. They took the theme seriously. I mean, I saw casts of costumes. Like, full groups. I saw a group recreating the birds. Literally on the carpet, there were ravens flying around. Another group channeled Cruella. I mean, folks went all out! There were people on stilts! And I loved it.

[4:54] Robert Peterpaul: This includes some A-listers that turned out for the spooktacular night. We had folks like Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos, who served Day of the Dead vibes. Renowned producer Clive Davis. I mean, so many stars were out and about.

[5:08] Robert Peterpaul: While unfortunately not all of them were doing interviews, we did get lots of great photos and videos to share with you all on social media. We were also really lucky to speak with some stars, like Tony winner Myles Frost and Grammy nominee Chloe Bailey, who you will hear from almost right now, just in a second. It's gonna be like trick-or-treating with stars, but instead of candy, we collected heartwarming moments. Because the evening, after all, was all about giving back, and I love an evening that's for a good, kind cause.

And I can't wait because I'm the first person here on the Green Carpet to see all the costumes.

[7:02] Thorgy Thor: Thank you! Well, this year I was like, can I actually compete this year? So maybe I'll go see Jordan Roth and walk by and just be like, oh, by the way, and make up a different name or something.

[7:24] Thorgy Thor: Oh, well, actually, I just redid my whole recycling center within my house, and it's separating everything, compostables, plastics, papers. And I think just having that organization makes me feel really good, like I'm doing my part.

[7:36] Thorgy Thor: It's very easy, and it makes me wake up in the morning and look at it and go, that's amazing, and I'm glad I did that, like, so neatly in everyone's home, and it's very easy to do.
