[0:00] Robert Bannon: Welcome to The Roundtable! I’m your host, Robert Bannon, and today we have a very special guest. She’s a star in the hit musical "Mean Girls," and she’s here to talk about bringing the show to Cape Cod. Please welcome Lizzy Tucker!
[0:30] Lizzy Tucker: Hi, Robert! Thank you so much for having me. I’m really excited to be here and talk about "Mean Girls" and our upcoming performances in Cape Cod.
[1:00] Robert Bannon: It’s such a fun show! What has it been like for you to bring "Mean Girls" to a new audience in Cape Cod?
[1:30] Lizzy Tucker: It’s been incredible! The energy from the audience has been amazing. There’s something really special about performing in a place like Cape Cod, where people come to relax and enjoy themselves. The response has been so positive, and it’s just a joy to share this story with everyone.
[1:50] Robert Bannon: I love that! "Mean Girls" has such a strong connection with its fans. What do you think makes the show resonate so much with audiences?
[2:00] Lizzy Tucker: I think it’s the relatability of the characters and the humor. Everyone has experienced high school drama in some form, and the show captures that in such a funny and heartfelt way. Plus, the music is catchy and the performances are just so much fun!
[2:10] Robert Bannon: Absolutely! Can you tell us a bit about your character and how you approach bringing her to life on stage?
[2:20] Lizzy Tucker: Sure! I play Gretchen Wieners, and she’s such a fun character to portray. She’s loyal, a bit insecure, and really wants to fit in with the Plastics. I try to bring a mix of humor and vulnerability to her, showing both her strength and her struggles.
[2:30] Robert Bannon: That sounds like a great balance! How do you keep the energy fresh every night, especially with such an iconic show?
[2:40] Lizzy Tucker: It’s all about connecting with the audience. Every night is different, and I love feeding off their energy. I also try to find new little moments in the performance that keep it exciting for me and for them.
[2:50] Robert Bannon: That’s a great approach! What has been one of your favorite moments in the show so far?
[3:00] Lizzy Tucker: Oh, there are so many! But I think one of my favorite moments is during the "Jingle Bell Rock" scene. It’s such a fun number, and the audience always gets really into it. It’s a blast to perform!
[3:10] Robert Bannon: I can imagine! The choreography must be a lot of fun too.
[3:20] Lizzy Tucker: It really is! The choreography is so energetic and playful, and it really helps to bring the characters to life. Plus, it’s a great workout!
[3:30] Robert Bannon: That’s awesome! What do you hope audiences take away from the show after seeing it?
[3:40] Lizzy Tucker: I hope they leave feeling empowered and entertained. "Mean Girls" has such a strong message about friendship and being true to yourself, and I think that resonates with everyone, no matter their age.
[3:50] Robert Bannon: Well said! It sounds like you’re doing an amazing job bringing this show to life. Thank you so much for joining me today, Lizzy!

[10:36] Lizzy Tucker: I’m doing great, Robert! Thank you so much for having me. I’m really excited to be here and talk about the show.
[11:02] Robert Bannon: It’s such a fun show! What has it been like for you to step into the role and bring this iconic musical to life?
[11:32] Lizzy Tucker: It’s been an incredible experience! The energy from the audience is just electric, and every night feels like a new adventure. I love getting to connect with the characters and make them my own while still honoring the original material.
[12:02] Robert Bannon: That’s so important! "Mean Girls" has such a strong fan base. How do you keep that energy fresh and engaging for the audience?
[12:29] Lizzy Tucker: I think it’s all about finding those little moments that resonate with me personally and sharing that with the audience. Each performance is a chance to explore and discover something new, and I think that keeps it exciting for everyone involved.
[12:56] Robert Bannon: Absolutely! And the music is such a huge part of the show. Do you have a favorite number that you love performing?
[13:23] Lizzy Tucker: Oh, definitely! I love performing "Apex Predator." It’s such a fun and fierce song, and it really allows me to showcase the character’s confidence and attitude. Plus, the choreography is a blast!
[13:48] Robert Bannon: That sounds amazing! The choreography in "Mean Girls" is so dynamic. How do you prepare for those dance numbers?
[14:18] Lizzy Tucker: A lot of practice! I spend time working on the choreography outside of rehearsals, and I also focus on my stamina. It’s important to stay in shape and be ready for those high-energy moments on stage.
[14:31] Robert Bannon: For sure! And what has been the most rewarding part of this journey for you so far?
[14:58] Lizzy Tucker: Honestly, it’s the connection with the audience. Hearing their laughter and seeing their reactions makes all the hard work worth it. It’s such a joy to be part of a story that resonates with so many people.
[15:28] Robert Bannon: That’s beautiful! "Mean Girls" has such a strong cultural impact. Why do you think it continues to resonate with audiences today?
[15:58] Lizzy Tucker: I think it’s because the themes are universal. Everyone can relate to the struggles of high school, friendships, and finding your place in the world. Plus, the humor is timeless, which keeps it relevant.
[16:28] Robert Bannon: Definitely! And speaking of humor, what’s been the funniest moment you’ve experienced on stage during this run?
[16:58] Lizzy Tucker: Oh, there have been so many! But one night, I accidentally tripped during a dance number, and instead of panicking, I just rolled with it and made it part of the performance. The audience loved it, and it turned into a hilarious moment!
[17:27] Robert Bannon: That’s fantastic! It’s great that you can embrace those moments and turn them into something special.
[17:57] Lizzy Tucker: Absolutely! It’s all about having fun and enjoying the experience, both for us and the audience.
[18:26] Robert Bannon: Well, I can’t wait to see you and the rest of the cast bring "Mean Girls" to Cape Cod. Thank you so much for joining me today, Lizzy!
[18:56] Lizzy Tucker: Thank you for having me, Robert! I can’t wait to share this show with everyone!
