But actually, the fourth time, the fifth time, you see it's about friendship, love, and, you know, being young in spirit, I'm in trouble. Yes, Nick? I believe all of that. I believe, when I think of The Sound of Music, I think of The Napa Boys as well, Nick. Do you? Was that one of your inspirations?

[8:01] Nick Corirossi: What people don't, I mean, I think it's, and this is what, to speak to what Armen's saying, and what I think you're saying too, is also, there's a facade of the movie, of what you assume is what it's going to be. What happens is actually against expectation. A lot of comedy is expectation. You're going against expectation. So it's actually a lot, we choose poetry instead of raunch a lot of times. Also, we are really actually taking the tenets of things that we love from the genre that it is sort of planting and starting from. And there are certain things, just like, well-drawn, specific characters, just like Sound of Music, here are our characters. You know exactly what everyone is going to kind of say at a certain point from their character.

There's setups and payoffs. The moose, things are set up 80 minutes before they're actually paid off. These are things that, they all drive a car called the Wine Wagon, you know, in Dumb and Dumber, they have a shaggy mobile, or mirth mobile in Wayne's World. Tenets of things, the bad guy that shows up three times just to hate on the main guys, and then leaves, and he's pure evil. These are kind of tenets of things from a genre of comedy, and tropes, and things that we think have also fallen to the wayside. But also things from just movies like Sound of Music, and things that we think that movies don't do enough of, the movie-ness of it all. So the facade of it being a certain way, I think is so fun for people to play around with.

But actually, we're using a lot of the tenets of things in movies that we don't think happen enough anymore. And I think that's why people respond to it and watch it over and over again. I love it. I think that's amazing. And if you're somebody who wants, you know, I don't know, they called it Sideways Meets Wet Hot American Summer, or if you like to spoof things like American Pie or The Hangover, but spoof it, make it funnier, crazier, more entertaining, more, this is your movie.

[10:04] Robert Bannon: You both, Nick, you worked, I can tell, you worked on the Eric Andre Show.

[10:13] Nick Corirossi: Yes, I was lucky enough to work with Eric on the last season of his show, yes.

[10:23] Robert Bannon: And Armin, you are someone who is in the improv comedy, the comedy alt-comedy community in LA. And when you see this movie, you're going to be like, oh, I get it, because they are taking something to the extreme in the most fun, entertaining way. And I have loved, I love the joke of the joke of the joke. And I know, like, it is so smart, and it is so hard, Armin, to be funny in this way. What was it like on set?

[10:53] Armen Weitzman: Yeah, it feels like it was a little bit of a thin red line, or it was like a, I mean, a war movie, I guess, just meaning we had to bond together and focus. I think we had some sort of, I don't know if you've seen Rudy, but I had to, we had to sort of, we've been preparing for this our whole lives subconsciously. So I think we had some luck that people had the script, maybe before, and they all were sort of written for each person. So everyone was ready to, yeah, I would say the laughter was definitely there. But I don't recall, I don't remember, did we have fun? Yeah, it was, I mean, what ended up happening is, you know, we wanted, it was going to be a tight shoot, the fires happened during the shoot, it ended up being a nine and a half day shoot.

But all the parts were written for the people that they were played for, so it was written to their strengths. And we ended up doing a lot of one or two takes, but it felt like that play atmosphere where they knew they had to perform, and they had to do it. And there was almost a meta joke of even that there was not really a lot of improv, a lot of these kooky, crazy, insane setup, payoff lines, characterizations, all were on the page. A lot of the stuff that people assume were either on set or whatever. So it really was just a pinpointed, focused, kind of picking off of all this. And the meta is just like the fact that all these great people were there together doing stuff that was absolutely so otherworldly, alien, absurd, but giving it the conviction and the sincerity that you would in any other movie.

They really brought that, you know, playing it straight conviction and sincerity to things, words that on the page or whatever could be looked at as completely absurd. So it wasn't just an improv fest, it was really just picking it all up. But the better thing of just the fact that we were doing all of this was really, really great and fun. But when you watch it, you'll realize then that these two actually wrote these jokes, not off the cuff. They wrote them. They're in the movie. And you're going to absolutely love it.

[12:56] Robert Bannon: You said, Armin, that you shot this in nine and a half days?

[12:59] Armen Weitzman: It ended up being nine and a half days. Yeah.

[13:03] Robert Bannon: But it was not, you know, that was a, like he said, that was a not plan. That was a fire-induced, the fires were coming to take us all away.

[13:13] Robert Bannon: Wow. Well, people, you have to go see this film. You got to see it when you can see it. And you can see it at the Ojai Playhouse. I'm so happy I Googled how to say it because I didn't want to call it the OJ. I'm from New Jersey. It's not the OJ Simpson Film Festival. It is the Ojai Playhouse. He had a great performance in The Naked Gun, and that was a spoof of police films. And this is a satire. You know, when you saw Blazing Saddles when you were a kid, I didn't, we didn't grow up fully in the Westerns era. You learned that this is that for the last 20 years of, from Force Awakens to Road Trip.
