Carl Clemons-Hopkins made their Broadway debut as Brooks Duncan in The Balusters. Their theater credits include performing as George Washington and Aaron Burr in the Chicago company of Hamilton, the Off-Broadway production Lessons in Survival: 1971 as James Baldwin, and Little Shop of Horrors (Barrymore Award nomination). A graduate of Philadelphia's University of the Arts, they have performed extensively Off-Broadway and in regional theater across the country.
Clemons-Hopkins is best known for portraying Marcus on the Max comedy-drama series Hacks, for which they received a Primetime Emmy Award nomination for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series, making history as the first nonbinary actor to receive an Emmy nomination. Their additional screen credits include Lady Dynamite and Search Party. Originally from Lithonia, Georgia, Clemons-Hopkins is a celebrated advocate for LGBTQ+ representation in the entertainment industry.
