About

Duncan Sheik is an American singer-songwriter, composer, and actor who wears many hats in the world of music and theater.

Sheik rose to fame with his self-titled debut album in 1996, featuring the hit single "Barely Breathing" which became a massive radio hit and earned him a Grammy nomination. But his talents extend far beyond catchy pop tunes.

As a composer, Sheik has created music for a variety of productions, from Shakespeare's Twelfth Night to film soundtracks like A Home at the End of the World. However, his most acclaimed work came on Broadway. The edgy rock musical Spring Awakening, with music and lyrics by Sheik, tackled themes of teenage sexuality and rebellion, resonating deeply with audiences and critics alike. The show won him Tony Awards for Best Original Score and Best Orchestrations, solidifying his place as a major theatrical force.
