Margaret Colin is a Theatre World Award-winning actress who plays Ruth Ackerman in the Broadway premiere of The Balusters. Her Broadway credits include The Columnist, Arcadia, Jackie: An American Life (Theatre World Award), A Day in the Death of Joe Egg, Old Acquaintance, and the Lincoln Center Theater revival of Carousel.
On screen, Colin is known for her role as White House Communications Director Constance Spano in the blockbuster film Independence Day, her originating role as Margo Hughes on As the World Turns, and her recurring role as Eleanor Waldorf on all six seasons of Gossip Girl. Her additional television credits include Chicago Med, Shades of Blue, and The Sinner. Born in Brooklyn, she was raised on Long Island.
