About

Reality Winner's life has been anything but ordinary. Born in 1991, she served in the U.S. Air Force from 2010 to 2016, earning a Commendation Medal. Transitioning to civilian life, she found work as a contractor for the National Security Agency (NSA) in Georgia. There, she stumbled upon a classified report alleging Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election.

Driven by concerns about the report's implications, Winner made a life-altering decision in 2017. She leaked the document to The Intercept, a news organization. This act ignited a firestorm, with supporters praising her whistleblower courage and critics condemning her violation of national security protocols. Winner was arrested and became the first person charged under the Espionage Act during the Trump administration. She ultimately pleaded guilty and was sentenced to five years and three months in federal prison, the longest sentence ever imposed for such a leak.

Released in 2021, Winner continues to grapple with the personal and societal impacts of her actions. She advocates for prison reform and transparency in government, using her unique experiences to spark important conversations about whistleblowing, national security, and individual responsibility. Although she faces restrictions due to her conviction, Reality Winner remains a determined voice, urging citizens to engage in critical thinking and act on their beliefs.
