In a Pittsburgh boardinghouse in 1911, a community of Black Americans, newly freed and still searching, gathers under one roof. When the haunted Herald Loomis arrives in search of the wife who left him, the rootworker Bynum Walker helps him find his song and his place in the world. Part of August Wilson's epic American Century Cycle, this 2026 revival is directed by Debbie Allen and stars Cedric the Entertainer, Taraji P. Henson, and Ruben Santiago-Hudson at the Ethel Barrymore Theatre.
